I hope it isnt rude or presumptuous of me to barge in and vent, but I'd love to hear your thoughts on Columbos family. I just finished "no time to die" and I can't get over how bad that episode was. Maybe its me and my headcanons getting in the way but No Way is he from a family of cops. And not a single one of them sounds like they're Italian or new yorkers the blasphemy! To me that mans from an Jewish immigrant family, and proud of it.
Tumblr media
combined with:
Tumblr media
yeah the whole "family of cops" thing in no time to die came off as cheesy, contrived 90s copaganda, so i just kind of ignore it. it's hardly canon, so feel free to do the same! i picture columbo with a big, loud, italian family myself, in which he's just about the only cop.
I will say though, i actually totally agree that he comes off as more jewish than not. columbo is, in canon, a good little italian boy married to a catholic woman, so the natural assumption is that he, too, is catholic. but peter falk was a very organic, naturalistic actor--as a student of sanford meisner, his primary acting imperative was to live and behave truthfully to the self under imaginary circumstances. so for someone who was barely religious himself in the way "cultural jews" tend to be...
Tumblr media
what i'd pay to hear the words "had the fuckin bar mitzvah'" come out of that man's mouth
...to me, falk's "truthful self" is just so jewish to his core that, because he puts so much of himself into the character, it bleeds clean through to columbo, and we get all these jewish mannerisms out of the supposed catholic! (jews, of course, have a rich and historic presence in italy, so there's no preclusion on that front.)
once you notice the little things, you can't stop. his phrasings, his gestures, the ways he interacts with others, his boiled eggs, his gastrointestinal sensitivity, even his sense of humor.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
chag pesach sameach
there are, of course, more substantial pieces of evidence than ordering chinese food for his extended family or needing an antacid every time he eats too quickly. i'm not jewish myself, but i grew up in a very jewish neighborhood, had more jewish than gentile friends growing up, and my partner of seven years is jewish. to me, what really codes columbo as a jewish man is how well he embodies many aspects of specifically jewish ethos.
being honorable, sensitive, and humble, he's the ideal mensch. one tenet strongly prioritized in judaism is tzedek, or one's ethical obligation to righteousness, equity, and compassion. he is both moved by suffering and tenaciously committed to justice.
jews hold the deepest respect for both religious and civil law, and you will note that columbo is neither an outsider nor a vigilante--he is a sanctioned agent of the legal system respecting and following the process of the law in his pursuit of murderers. he functions within it, sometimes in spite of it, but not outside of it. when he gets creative, he toes, but never quite crosses the line.
he thinks for himself and thus has a strong moral compass; he treats everyone with kindness and empathizes readily with individual struggle. he is patient, courageous, and clever--all particularly valued qualities in judaism.
Tumblr media
(rakish semitic looks aside)
paramount is columbo's intellectual curiosity, love of learning, and propensity to question, which is, too, seen as fundamental to a faith built entirely on asking questions. whether he's gently yet methodically poking holes in a suspect's alibi or wondering how much a random stranger paid for his shoes, he never has a shortage of them. he's a little guy bursting with chutzpah, perfectly at home both asking a prime suspect if he can have a closer look at his hand, and God Himself to spare sodom and gomorrah if he can only find a few good people...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
if you really needed any further evidence that he's God's Chosen...

i think the ace attorney fandom forgets how temperamental phoenix is
this is not a judgement! i also forgot this until my friend said that phoenix felt out of character during the trial that got him disbarred and i had to think about it and....hes really not?
like, yeah, it feels like hes being a jerk to klavier (and he kind of is) but think about it from a different perspective: klavier is the first prosecutor whos gone against phoenix that weve seen who has less legal experience than him (godot.....we dont know how long diego armando was a defense lawyer. and like, hes been in a coma for a few years, but that doesnt negate his previous experience) and also more than half of said prosecutors caused him physical harm (edgeworth and payne are the only ones that dont. and manfred von karma is the only one to only hurt him outside of the courtroom.) of course phoenix is coming across as a jerk when he usually doesnt-- hes using his normal processes against someone who isnt actively attacking him (hes called the turnabout terror for a reason!).
also klaviers being super hoity-toity and phoenix wants to knock him down a peg its fine
but like!! hes not actually a golden retriever of a person out of the courtroom either? redd white mayve called assault charges against phoenix in order to frame him for mias murder but i firmly believe phoenix wouldve punched him if it wouldntve hurt his case. you can try to present the dl-6 crime scene photo to edgeworth in 1-4 and maya has to stop you. phoenix can slap lotta in 2-2 for talking shit about maya. he lashes out at maya for asking about edgeworth in big top. (i havent played through T&T yet and hes a lot more passive in the anime so i dont have specific examples from that one yet but) like. he has a temper! his impulsivity doesnt apply to just bluffing and that one time he ate evidence
phoenix wears his heart on his sleeve for a very long time, and thats not always positive emotions. its just that hes usually juxtaposed with people who are a lot more aggressive, so when he does end up going against someone whos...not, not really, he comes across as 5 times ruder.

ACABs have the fucked up logic of using police killings as a reason to demonize/generalize all forms of law enforcement, yet when anyone with a genuine reason to hate a generalized group does so, God forbid, Say a man generalized blacks, or Mexicans for the "crimes" or "murder" they commit, everyone dogpiles on him, but if it's the police? (Fun fact, police officers aren't legally required to save anyone in a shootout, bomb zone, anything that can kill loads of people, they just have to find the perpetrators and contain them, but they do it out of sheer "oh shit someone can get hurt and I have a chance to stop it".
Whoopdy-doo, there is injustice and people with a facade to hurt others, where ISNT that though? All the problems people whine about are in ANY job, state, country.
"wuughhh racism cop kill black guy for no reasonn!!"
A vast majority of the "innocent" were known offenders and known to be violent.
People can't seem to grasp that.

Having an affair when you are trapped in a arranged or abusive marriage isnt cheating.
*EDITED POST* (12/5/23)
Tell that to tradwives and fundamentalist religious people.
However, notes on the nonabusive arranged marriage deal:
I don't know if Rhaegar was all that tragically "trapped" in a marriage with Elia. Lyanna would have been w/Robert and even Elia doesn't obtain perfect happiness with Rhaegar, but Rhaegar wasn't likely suffering in his marriage.
I think that if there was an established or growing sexual or romantic intimacy where it is felt/talked about the intimacy should not be given to others simultaneously (a "closed" relationship, even if to just feel each other out for a time for a trial period) between the married couple, then it is cheating. Because some sort of romantic-sexual relationship or commitment was made. There needs to be a willing commitment in order for there to be cheating when one/both partners stray.
HOWEVER, it then gets bothersome when we go into societies where infidelity and the social/legal punishments disproportionately affect one spouse over the other AND/OR one spouse, esp according to gender. Elia/Rhea Royce/the wife could suffer her reputation degrading if Rhaegar/Daemon/the husband is seen out with other women because: she loses credibility of attractiveness; she must deal with the fact that her husband can bring in his bastards without her consent or disregarding her feelings (further and public diminishment of her authority that contradicts her duties as the household's "matron" and practical head manager while her husband gives the final orders and outranks her--as married noblewomen are tasked to be--and yet also have the inability to decide who gets to be a part of that household/exclusion from the political maneuvering of family-lineage, which men are given the privilege of); she now has to at least consider how her own legitimate kids will relate (maybe even someday come to conflicts over their father's inheritances and/or affections and favor) and have advantages over their illegitimate siblings, which is more mental and maybe economic work for her bc again she is the practical head manager of the households' needs which now may include her husband's mistress and any and all bastard kids he has with her; she has to now come to terms with how the economic resources and inheritances will be further split after her husabnd dies amongst his children, even when she was the one, again, maintaing the household and some of the family aren't even hers; if a wife was caught cheating (or even if this were an open thing) she'd still be treated much worse than if the roles were reversed. Women in real history have been: imprisoned in their own homes; sent off to nunneries to "wait out" scandals or just to be there forever for their own and their husbands' families to avoid shame in a sort of "exile"; publicly shamed and ridiculed, losing community sympathy or regard; and even outright murdered (stoning) in public punishments or never justified after their relatives or husband's kill them for adultery...because lineage and power runs through the male line, not the woman's, and any doubt of the man's control over her reproduction is taken a lot more seriously than the reverse. The wife, more than her husband, is always the one more at risk of losing some sort of sociopolitical benefit, security, or privilege for either herself or her kids, with either his or her infidelity.
So if and only if Rhaegar and Elia both understood and knew the other understood that their marriage would be open, no he didn't "cheat" on Elia. But it is valid ("correct"? more debatable), for people to dislike Rhaegar for Lyanna IF:
he went off w/Lyanna without having some sort of real understanding with Elia where they acknowledge most/all these things OR if they could prove Rhaegar was responsible for Elia's being taken from Dragonstone by Aerys just by not being there to somehow stop or delay Aerys
if Elia only agreed or mostly agreed bc she wanted Rhaegar to leave her be and survive from here two births AND "that's just what privileged men do"
there was no plan for how Elia would be seen by the court around her in lieu of Rhaegar giving Lyanna the crown of flowers instead of her during the 281 tourney at Harrenhal or just by the fact that there were rumors for this relationship that she'd still have to face regardless of her Dornishness--she is still in a nonDornish court and will have to raise children in such a environment, she doesn't really have an out
Rhaegar actively chose to leave her behind with his father without at least staying by her side so he could just stay by Lyanna's in the Tower of Joy
The first implies that he decided he could risk his wife's reputation and sanity when she was already known to be very ill for most of her adult life and was almost killed in childbirth...for his own happiness of being in love or "just getting p*%$y". Its reverse is the ideal circumstance. But the "ideal" rarely happens consistently in GRRM's stories or real life when we try or want it to.
Tracking Rhaegar's, Elia, and Lyanna's Moves Right Before the Rebellion and During It:
281 A.C. -- Rhaegar gives Lyanna the winter rose crown of love and beauty instead of his wife Elia (presumably bc of many things: he admired her disguised participation as the Knight of the Laughing Tree; wanted the Starks or Baratheons to become more invested through even their outrage [this was a person's theory]; with the said crown he might have seen a vision with winter roses and Lyanna in it and decided to take that risk in that moment to trigger events he thought he needed.)
281-282 A.C. -- Rhaegar leaves Elia and their kids at Dragonstone "with half a dozen of his closest friends and confidants, on a journey that would ultimately lead him back to the riverlands" (TWoIaF -- the Year of the False Spring).
282 A.C. -- around Harrenhal, Rhaegar and Lyanna disappear together, triggering her father and brother to travel to KL by themselves and Brandon (brother) calls out ""come out and die.", not knowing Rhaegar is not in the city -> Aerys tortures and burns both him and his father
(*later, c 282-283 A.C.) Aerys calls back Elia and her kids by his side with -> sometime between Rhaegar leaving and him coming back with his army
c. 283 A.C. -- Aerys King Aerys sent Ser Gerold Hightower (the Lord Commander of the Kingsguard) to retrieve Rhaegar
283 A.C. -- Rhaegar returns to the crownlands and takes command of the Targaryen army after Jon Connington loses in the battle of the Bells
283 -- Battle of the Trident -> Rhaegar dies
283 A.C. -- Aerys sends pregnant Rhaella and Viserys to Dragonstrone but keeps Elia and her kids with him in fear of the Martells betraying him
I still think that with no new information besides Elia & Rhaegar's relationship is "complicated"--as GRRM said--and if Lyanna's family weren't that big of an issue, then Lyanna very well could have been genuinely friendly (not just amicable) with Elia. Again, Elia is from Dorne, the most sexually progressive place in the West of the ASoIaF world except for maybe some freefolk tribes. From the very little we hear of her and her character, she seemed unafraid to let her feelings known and unashamed of herself and what she wanted while still being serene.
Anyone interested can check out this post by dwellordream about infidelity in aristocratic marriages.

re: Éowyn, I think the OTHER problem is that patriarchy is inconsistent in Tolkien’s universe.
Númenor seems to have developed it as an institutional force independently (LaCE’s whole section about Noldorin gender roles indicates that even if the author is a bit sexist the elves don’t seem to be, even down to an absence of a requirement that marriage be heterosexual*, and Haleth and Andreth respond to some gendered pressures but they don’t seem to be systemic) but challenges it through the legalization of absolute primogeniture. Despite this, Gondor and Rohan have their own versions of patriarchal norms, in contrast to Harad and potentially to Umbar. The Shire is written as a land of benevolent sexism, and yet Merry never questions Éowyn’s capacity to murder things with a sword when he realizes he’s been riding with a woman. So we’re left with this nebulous thing that obviously exists and impacts the life of one of the most significant female characters in the text, but that also clearly exists in a way that’s different from our own modern conceptions of patriarchy as all-encompassing and global even as the author isn’t thinking too hard. I wonder if a more feminist LotR written with, say, input from Joy Davidman, would have featured the non-Gondorian Aragorn calling out the patriarchy, but that’s simply because Tolkien tends to do those sorts of things in response to criticism (see Gimli).
* LaCE-compliant elvish marriage being queer-friendly is sort of my personal soapbox, I apologize
ok, so ill admit we're starting to edge out of my area of (if you can call it that) expertise since ive done the most research on the real-world mythological/literary connections within the Men (celts and anglo-saxons specifically, lord above ive read so many eye-splitting middle english poems in the last few months), but i would love to hear more about the stuff with gimli, which i havent heard about before!
also for the sake of transparency im about 2/3 of the way through the silmarillion until my local library's hold comes in so im a bit new here
so something ive done a lot of reading/writing on myself is that patriarchy in rohan/gondor is very closely tied to war and "warrior culture," i.e. this concept that glory via violence should be celebrated above all else and the association of this idea with masculinity. this is more prevalent in rohan than gondor, but tolkien writes that that the presence of a budding warrior culture in gondor is some sort of "fall" from a more peaceful (and implicitly wiser) culture of the past, which very well could be a reference to a more Elvish, numenorean culture (if im reading your ask correctly in assuming that numenor's culture isnt quite as patriarchal as we see in later ages)
so the thing that gets complicated is that these ideals of peace, wisdom, the arts, intellectualism, etc over war are strongly gendered. in The Feminine Principle in Tolkien, Menalie Rawls (who also saved my ass on that paper god bless her) suggests that a lot of the aforementioned traits associated with this "better" (i.e. aligning more with tolkien's internal moral compass for the book) numenorean-refugee culture are strongly in the feminine category, while the warrior culture stuff sits in the masculine category
Tumblr media
so that leads to a bit of a weird point. i think a lot of patriarchy as we see it in lotr is related to this idea of the descendants of numenor falling away from their roots and becoming more hypermasculine (the thesis of Rawls's paper is essentially that tolkien's heroes are either expected to have an internal balance of gendered traits or an external one where they balance their gender expression with strong opposing forces to become their most heroic self, i.e. legolas and gimli, eowyn and faramir, varda and manwe, beren and luthien, etc) as opposed to their more balanced, and therefore, in the eyes of the book, "better" past. essentially, like the warrior-worship, patriarchy seems to be an adverse effect that centuries of war can have on a culture
the weird part of it is that i dont know if the whole fall from a golden age thing was supposed to include patriarchy as a symptom of societal decline or just had it coincidentally because tolkien personally associated femininity with peace. it feels like a bit of a chicken or the egg situation honestly
but, like most of tolkien scholarship, this all completely falls to pieces when you try to apply it to the hobbits. i would hazard a guess that the hobbits do a lot of weird shit that doesnt click with the rest of the world (i.e. golf, wristwatches, a mailman) because they're supposed to be the closest thing tolkien has to a normal english human reader in his worlds, so they probably dont have any views/cultural norms outside what someone in the rural england of his childhood would have. best i've got is a reason, but not an explanation
in certain pockets of the world, i think the culture of patriarchy is pretty well justified. however, i agree that there are some major inconsistencies. the hobbits, as per usual, break any theory you try to apply universally across the text. the crowning of aragorn, which is meant to represent gondor's rebuilding to its former glory, has very little to do with how women are treated (which does make me lean more towards the "patriarchy just came along with tolkien liking peace and not warrior culture while also gendering those two concepts" theory now that i think of it). if anything, femininity is treated better after aragorn's crowning (i.e. focus on healing, very gender-balanced king, rewarding small heroes, marrying an Elf, rewarding faramir, tree blooming again, so much celtic symbolism stuff i dont have time to get into but they were considered effeminate as well, etc). but that's how the concept of femininity is treated which is. yknow. different than actual living breathing women
so point is, 1) there's some insight onto why gender concepts look different among different cultures, especially with Men 2) hobbits confuse me

i love how a shit ton of transfemmes love to act like transmasculine oppression is not only less important, but mostly nonexistent, to the point of it even being heretically offensive to discuss in a way that takes it as seriously as transmisogyny or even like. seriously AT ALL and not just something to joke about doing to transmascs when they happen to be both annoying and someone who goes by a common name, like aiden.
like i know you get all your facts and logic from a bunch of super retarded twitblr baeddels but i do in fact regret to inform you that out of most known social demographic categories, transmasculine people have THE highest rates of suicide and sexual assault, especially compared to cis men and cis women, but even sometimes when compared to transfems!
but yeah, tell me more about how “transandrophobia” is just some reddit MRA shit. keep talking about how transmisogyny is the worst kind of oppression that could possibly happen to anyone ever and how transmascs are just transitioning because they hate women and want to attain male privilege, something not only regular for us all to want but definitely possible to achieve through the cis validation we are soooo totally receiving from society.
if you believe that being a man or transitioning into masculinity is INHERENTLY EVIL or makes you get MORE PRIVILEGE AND NOT WAY LESS OF IT FROM LITERALLY ANYBODY INCLUDING OUR OWN SUPPOSED ALLIES then i am sorry to say but i think the thing that is poisoning your brain and making you stupid is not testosterone. it might be 4chan though, you might wanna get that checked out. being a woman does not make you inherently softer, more pure, more innocent, kinder, more deserving of love. none of those things. and in fact, acting like women can do no wrong by virtue of simply existing as their gender is often used to silence victims of abusive women, because feminism or something. absolutely shut the fuck up.
god you are all so stupid. why the fuck would a man with a pussy or boobs get MORE RESPECT instead of MORE KILLED AND HUMILIATED. WE BY VIRTUE OF BEING BORN ARE FAILDAUGHTERS WHO ARE CONSTANTLY REMINDED OF OUR INHERENT LACK OF THE MANY CENTRAL DEFININITIVE CHARACTERISTICS ASSOCIATED WITH MANLINESS. WHY WOULD WE BE TAKEN SERIOUSLY BY “REAL” MEN AND WOMEN, AS WE ARE SEEN TO BE NEITHER OF THOSE?
imagine let’s say, a trans man. scary, fucked up, i know right, but bear with me now, i have a point to make. so this guy is for all intents and purposes completely cis-passing. his voice is deep and melodic. he has full grown facial hair. his facial structure is like a chad wojak. he isnt getting bald from taking t yet. he’s skinny, but not to the point of looking twinky or like a femboy. he isn’t overly emotional in a womancoded way most of the time. he’s white. he’s got a good job that pays well enough to not be homeless or starving. so yeah, all of those things. except for one crucial difference: he does not wish to pursue bottom surgery. he enjoys having a vagina. he is also interested in having sexual relationships, exclusively with other men-identified people.
here’s where things get tricky. you know the trans panic murder legality exception? that still does apply to transmascs too, you know. we are also transgendereds. but yeah so this guy decides to hook up with a stranger off a dating app. things are going fine. he hasnt yet disclosed his birth sex, he had no pronouns in bio, he is assumed to be cis.
wow, you think, this guy is living the dream. he is so privileged for this.
sike, you fucking idiot. he is about to get hatecrimed and abused as soon as he does the pussy reveal. he will probably also get raped. the guy he wanted to have a fun time with actually hates women so much he thinks that sometimes they try to become men to trick true homosexuals. he fucking gets this guy. transmasc chad is now dead. when his funeral happens, his estranged parents retcon his legal name change from years prior to deadname and misgender him as a final slap in the face. where is this privilege then? huh? tell me, quickly now.
every single fucking hate crime that is possible to do to a transfeminine person is just as easily possible to do to a transmasculine person. absolutely fuck yourself if you disagree. because it can and does happen. not only that, but we experience unique things you never will be able to: getting pregnant, getting raped in ways that could make us pregnant, if we want to get pregnant we have to temporarily detransition in order to do so, period associated symptoms that involve painful bleeding and not just period-lite emotional swings like some people experience on estrogen. stuff like that is what we need our own words for, you just wouldnt get it.
you just live in a bubble full of shetheyits who love to be stupid online and expect the entire world to kiss their toes in response when they say things that are just completely and objectively wrong but frame themselves in a tactical light in order to shit on the most amount of people they can just to fucking feel something. why do you love re-creating or appropriating existing structures of oppression and drawing lines in the sand arbitrarily with people you should be experiencing sympathy for because we are more like you than we are not like you. society hates us all, dont you dare forget that.

RWBY Catchup Slogblog: V8E6 ~ The one in which Cinder gets to finally have a backstory.
Even Arthur Watts got a backstory before this woman, and he’s only been in the story since V4. Hell Mercury got a backstory with the abusive dad half a season ago. Orphanage/Farm full of bullies. followed by a hotel of some sort? (what hotel would decorate its entrance hall with statues of Grimm?) Oh they are just doing the “cinderella, is a slave” thing. I was hoping something less generic. Like it could be a sympathetic backstory, And a generic shockcollar. And there are the words again. Well at least that confirms 100% that Cinder is planning to betray Salem eventually. Lets hope it works out for her. Oh she has a fatherfigure? And he noticed the slavery?  Fatherfigure is right that if she runs she’s got no place to go. He’s wrong to suggest that a life of monsterfighting is the only way out. He’s also wrong to suggest murdering slavers is wrong. I hate him already. Oh right, usual age for Huntsman Exam is 17. Is Fatherfigure really saying “stay in this slavery for seven additional years so i can save you seven years from now” Congrats you might be the worst parent in the show. JUST TAKE THE SHOCKCOLLAR AS EVIDENCE AND BRING HER TO THE AUTHORITIES YOU DIPSHIT. Weiss already demonstrated hunters have the legal authority to arrest people with her DAD. Congrats, the episode has made me care for Genshin-girl, if only by making me rage at the greatest buffoon to have ever become a huntsman (and that includes Dee & Dum from the train). I hope she kills everyone in the hotel. Statue of the LightDragon on the hotel mantle beneath the clock. Oh and now douchebag jones realises he has the authority to arrest criminals? When she rightfully defends herself from the slavers? Is that scar meant to explain why Cinder is constantly wearing long neck-pieces now? Im fairly certain that wouldnt add up with earlier seasons (i think i remember a neck-less dress at the ball but its been a while) ----- Mercury is here, and he’s trying to be the parental figure Emerald needs again, Em still isnt getting it. “something big is about to happen”. oh so are we introducing yet another thread to this already overcomplicated plot? Please learn to resolve a thread or two before spinning a new tapestry. ---- Ozpin and Oscar are talking, laying more groundwork for the story to have some of the “lesser” henchmen turn tail towards the good guys.  Hazel is right once again, I get trying to make our antagonists “reasonable” but can we stop making them outright right. And there’s the Ex-wife. ------ Watts has called in on the phone. The dog is here,  Cinder gets tortured and is starting to realise that maybe, just maybe she shouldnt have accepted the Shock-Collar Prosthesic arm. Oscar blurts out Salems true goal (I dont think Scorpio is going to care, but the rest might) ------ More of the AceOps, Also more earthquakes. (presumably yet another Kaiju-sized grimm?) Im sorry, is the grimm-goop moving inteligent and capable of movign against gravity now? Maybe the sentient grimm-river could use a little more explaining for such a plot vital ability for Salem to posess. I give this plottwist a 2/10. Visually interesting and creative use of borrowing-creatures, but comes out of nowhere and seemingly violates everything we know about the liquid-like nature of the grimm-goop as a substance.  Looks good but seems like it was pulled right out of a writers ass. Nonetheless, the episode managed to make me care for the OG Main villain as a character, which though late 8 seasons in, is a good thing overall. Overall i give the episode a 7/10.

My nigga we BEEN voting. for years. Do i have to remind you that obama explicitly ran on abortion rights as the spearhead of his campaign? pushing the Freedom of Choice Act? the empty promise to "sign it on day one?”
And he got elected. the democrats had a supermajority. They had 90 uninterrupted fucking days of supermajority to pass literally anything they wanted. the GOP would have been powerless to stop them.
We live in a fascist dystopia the likes of which Orwell would blush over because yes, republicans are soulless wastes of functioning organs but the democrats are nothing more than controlled opposition, puppets with Republican hands up their asses. We need to stop voting traitorous fuckwads in. Every time we vote for a “moderate” we’re skewing the Overton window even further towards “Fascist Oligarchy where people of color, queer folk, disabled people and the impoverished can literally fucking die in the street and if you have a problem with it you’re fucking next”
Fascism will not give you the tools to fight Fascism. America isnt a democracy, its a fucking farce
Russia has literally admitted tampering in our elections, and the royal fucking pig they supported had the gall to ask them for more help on live fucking television
Laws are fucking bought and sold to whatever disgusting subhuman bribes the politicians that particular week
The police are literally a state sanctioned white supremacist street gang with no legal accountability
the supreme court is a stack of 9 barely fucking coherent mummies, stealing our rights from us in front of our fucking faces
Protests are either co-opted by the police, or literally end with the police assaulting and murdering people for exercising their rights
There are numerous studies on how there is NEXT TO NO FUCKING CORRELATION between social and legislative progression and what party is in office
And yet were still being told “maybe if more of the youth voted” “this is your fault, Republicans vote all the time” its victim blaming horseshit and is nothing more than a deliberate effort to convince the population that somehow the oppression is the fault of the oppressed.
IT IS NOT
WE ARE BEYOND THE POINT WHERE PLAYING THEIR GAME IS A VIABLE STRATEGY
IT IS TIME TO FLIP THE FUCKING TABLE AND BURN DOWN THE HOUSE

10 Anti LO Asks
1. im pretty sure the exact reason persephone now randomly has long hair in episodes and merch despite the short hair being her one unique trait for so long is because rachel knows even her fans can connect the dots persephone is supposed to be and look exactly like rachel's idealized version of herself and its not very subtle about it. lets play is obvs a self insert fantasy too but even mongie had the good sense to make sure sam didnt look like her.
2. do you think lo is ever going to cover herakles? bc i want to know how rachel will try and hashtag girlboss her way out of hera trying to kill his mom during childbirth, try to murder him as a baby, and then driving him mad so he murders his wife and children. like she already is trying (and failing) to girlboss persephone being a selfish mass murderer, why not hera too
3. I hate that the trial literally mentions NOTHING about the humans Persephone killed. I get that it's centered around clearing her name, but this whole thing barely even mentions them or what happened! It's just the gods airing out each other's dirty laundry. We get little to no input from the mortals side nor do we get anybody advocating for them. Did no one think maybe we should maybe get a relative of one of the mortals she murdered to testify? Get a nymph who lived in the area maybe? No? Why not!? This involves them doesn't it!?!?! I'm not saying that Persephone shouldn't get to share her side of the story, I'm just saying that that's all we've seen. We haven't heard about the damage she did.
4. ok first off the fact we didnt even know if persephone was over 18 when she stumbled nearly naked onto a drunk hades is already bad enough and points clearly why her being so borderline young is a bad idea, but if persephone was 19 when they met ?? how bad is her memory?? she only met him months before but completely forgot by the time of the first few episodes?? is she just playing dumb or is she just stupid? like these retcons only make everything more confusing??
5. i hate how hades and persephone's relationship is justified by lo fans because it's "legal". like legality is not morality, and hades is still a massive creep.....and demeter is right for trying to keep the two apart
6. did you make the post saying "hades and persephone isnt a love story, it's a story about a mother losing her daughter"? it stuck with me and it's something i wish LO fans would acknowledge
From OP: No, I tried to find it but I can’t remember who made it. I’ll reblog if I do find it or if someone else does.
7. the reason the male characters in lo arent as talked about is because theres nothing to them? like hades easily gets critiqued a lot bc wow he sucks, but apollo is nothing? zeus is nothing, poseidon, hermes, ares, hephaestus, thanatos, etc etc are just not characters. they just exist and are boring.
From OP: Exactly! If I could talk about the other male characters, I would but there honestly isn’t much to them.
8. tbh i just cant even buy these characters as gods? like how as goofy or more human as they can be in disney or percy jackson you can still sense theyre otherworldy and powerful, but these lo versions are just weird colored people who get away with murder and think its normal to enslave people and who randomly fly. i dont fear them or view them in awe, they just seem like another gossip girl knock off with simpson coloring.
9. im sorry but demeter is so justified in why she doesnt trust hades or olympus as a whole, but hades especially. shes known him far longer than persephone has and knows what a cruel, entitled prick he is and how hes treated other women, and yet because hades shows bare minimum of "respect" to her persephone thinks hes perfect and demeter doesnt know what shes talking about? take the names off and everyone would call persephone is an entitled brat, but demeter is supposed to be in the wrong here.
10. i feel like at the very least characters like zeus and apollo or w/e need some OP power over hxp and/or a large group of supporters (maybe theyre the muscle instead) bc like?? theyre so unliked and weak compared to hxp that its like what stakes are there? according to rachel persephone could just grow big and murder all of them because shes that OP and got too horny looking at hades' can opener nose and wouldnt get a scratch on her, so what tension is there? what conflict? theres nothing there.

Tell me a story
Ty doesn't believe in fate.
A shout out to @ilikebooks8 for convincing me to make a fanfic about autistic!Eleanor Blackthorn. Autism is genetic so it makes sense for Ty to have autistic ancestors. If you are autistic I guarentee you have someone in your family who is also autistic they just haven't been diagnosed yet. For me, I've got my dad.
Cw: mentions of ableism, abuse and the death of a minor character. Very anti Andrew Blackthorn.
"Tell me a story," Tiberius' asked, in that mature, matter- of-fact way he spoke. Ty was only eight but already he sounded like a boy twice his age in terms of his vocabulary and the way he spoke.
Although he still had the voice of a child which was rather amusing. Eleanor turned to face her son with a groan as she felt searing pain shoot through her bones. She had been laying down all day due to feeling extremely unwell. The noises and lights of the outside world were especially brutal, but she had gotten used to it overtime. She had learned to cope. To smile and nod and make eye contact. To control her movements and still her hands and laugh at their jokes.
Eleanor played the part of the proper shadowhunter and the dutiful wife, the attentive mother. It didn't matter that it had changed her. Had completely turned her into a different person, someone harsher and colder. Someone who was so quick to anger and venomous hatred.
Someone who only knew how to be in pain.
She always tried to not let that side of her show to her children. They didn't deserve it. But the past few weeks in particular had been brutal. Her body felt broken and it was becoming harder and harder to put up that facade.
She faced Ty with the best fake smile she could muster. "Which story would you like to hear?" He climbed up on the bed beside her and sat down in an odd twisted position where his legs were in a W position. He began tapping his hands on his knees as he appeared to contemplate his choices.
Eleanor could remember a time when she was younger when she used to do that. Before her parents had stopped her. She knew she should really tell Tiberius off to discourage him from doing these things in public. He was so blatent and open in a way that frightened and almost angered her. There was no telling what kind of reaction The Clave might have.
She didnt want him to end up with the dregs, or worse.
"I don't know," Ty said finally scrunching up his eyebrows. "I can't think of one right now. Could you make one up?" Eleanor smiled in spite of herself. She had always loved making up stories ever since she was a kid. She had always been a creative person, painting and drawing as often as she could. Shadowhunters didn't really appreciate a creative streak.
Eleanor nodded. "Ok sure, let's see." She took a breath, trying to ignore the agony spreading through her back and shoulders. "Once upon a time there was a prince who was trapped in a tower that was guarded by an evil ogar. The prince had been rumored to have special powers so he was forced by his parents to stay locked away in the tower forever to keep him safe. He wasnt allowed to make friends with any other children so he grew up alone. Teaching himself how to read and write and playing games to amuse himself."
Ty rolled his eyes. "Isn't that rather cliche? The whole prince trapped in a tower story? I've definitely heard that before."
Eleanor laughed. "Where did you hear the word cliche Tiberius?" Ty shrugged, not seeing the amusement in the situation.
"It was in a book. Can you keep going?" He whined impatiently. "I wanna hear the rest."
Eleanor sighed, shaking her head good naturedly. "Alright then. So the prince was trapped for a very long time. Then one day a mysterious adventurer came exploring nearby the tower."
"Can it be a detective?" Ty interrupted, bouncing up and down. He had been obsessed with Clue lately.
"Alright sure, it was a detective. He was searching the answers to a murder mystery. The murder of a young women."  Ty instantly looked interested. Perhaps murder was not the best subject for a story being told to an eight year old, but Ty was a shadowhunter. They were trained to deal with blood and death.
"His was searching for information and came across the tower," she continued. So he decided to investigate. He snuck passed the ogar and into the tower, where he was ambushed by the prince!"
Ty gasped excitedly, wriggling in place. "What happened next? Did they fight?"
Eleanor opened her mouth to continue, but then the bedroom door flew open, startling them both.
It was Andrew. Instantly Ty shrunk himself down, hunching his shoulders. Eleanor knew that Ty didn't always get along with his father but she knew Andrew still loved him deep down. He glared at them both.
"Ty your mother is meant to be resting," he said pointedly.
Eleanor shook her head. "Oh no it's alright. He wasn't bothering me." Andrew didn't seem to hear her.
"Tiberius let's go," he said harshly. Ty hesitated for a moment, looking up at her.
"But I wanna hear the rest of the story!" He protested. "I wanna know what happens to the prince!" Eleanor sighed solemnly. She didn't want to disappoint Ty, but she was feeling pretty worn out.
"Another time baby," she assured him. "I promise."
But unfortunately she never got the chance. She never got the chance because little did they know, Eleanor Blackthorn had cancer. Something that silent brothers couldn't cure. Something that shadowhunters were powerless against.
"What are you thinking about ?" Kit murmered from his spot curled up against Ty's chest. His breath tickled Ty's chin.
Ty paused, not quite sure how to answer. They were lying on the roof of the LA institute again. It was their special spot. Kit had suggested a night of star gazing for a date since the weather was nice.
Things has been a little weird between them lately. Kit had been pretending that everything was fine and he was unfazed, but Ty could tell that something was bothering him. And he had a feeling he knew what it was.
At Magnus and Alec's anniversary party, Jace made a joke about how Kit and Ty would probably be the next ones to get married and Ty immediately went into a blind panic. He completely froze up at the mention of marriage. At the mention of him getting married. His body instantly went into a complete overload almost as if he was on the verge of a meltdown.
He didn't take the time to think about any of it. He just snapped and yelled that he wasn't getting married. That he wasn't ever getting married. Ty wasnt even sure where it came from. Kit was pretending like it wasnt a big deal but Ty knew he was hurting. He could tell.
Ty traced a pattern across Kit's arm. "Honestly it was nothing," he assured him. "I just-." Ty stared at Kit, studying his face. The curve of his lips, the adorable blush of his cheeks and the tiny beauty mark under his eye that Ty loved to fixate on. Everything ached, but it was a good kind of ache.
Ty loved him.
"I just want to stay like this forever," he murmered. "Here with you, where I feel safe and warm. And loved." Ty nuzzled his nose against Kit's. "I want to be with you forever."
Kit smiled distantly before breaking into a slight frown. "Then why don't you wanna marry me?" He asked sadly. And Ty could instantly hear the old ghosts of self loathing and insecurity still haunting Kit's thoughts.
Ty sighed. "It has nothing to do with you I promise. I just really don't want to get married and I'm not even fully certain of why exactly."
Kit stroked his cheek slowly. "Is it the idea of a big wedding? Because we don't have to do that you know. We can totally just skip it," he said assuredly.
Ty shook his head. "That's part of it but it isn't the only reason." He paused to contemplate what exactly it was that was making him feel this way, feel so afraid.
Strangely enough, Ty kept coming back to his mother. His mother who was always a little peculiar in private. Who always seemed sad and exhausted even before the silent brothers diagnosed her. Who was constantly going along with whatever her husband wanted for whatever reason. Because she assumed he knew what he was doing? Because she didn't want to make waves in a society so rigid and obsessed with conformity?
Ty had been considering it more and more lately.
He sat up, displacing Kit from where he was resting. "I think my mother was like me," Ty admitted in a shakey voice. "I think she was autistic and that's why she ended up in the situations she did."
"Ok?" Kit looked confused. "But that still doesn't explain-."
Ty interrupted him. "She was trying so hard to fit in and do the right thing and she would just let him control her. She kept compromising for him because she thought that's what she was supposed to do and also because despite it all I think she really loved him! And it made her so stupid!" Ty shouted.
"I just don't want to become trapped like that," he confessed.
Kit was silent for a moment, just staring at him with a puzzled expression. "Ok, but Ty you realize that I'm not your dad right? Like I would never try and control you or make you into something you're not. I'm not trying to own you, I'm trying to love you!" He argued. "Ty, marriage isnt supposed to trap you. It's about making our relationship into an Offical legal thing that everyone's forced to acknowledge and accept."
Kit took Ty's hand in his. "It's about making each other family."
Ty looked away. He couldn't meet Kit's eyes when he was staring at him looking so hopeful and desperate. It did strange things to Ty's insides. He squeezed his eyes shut, scrunching up his face along with his fists for a moment before letting go.
"I just don't want to let someone have power over me in that way," he explained. Kit sighed, then smiled softly before leaning forward to rest his forehead against Ty's. Ty let out a little moan as he let the tension release from his body with a sigh. Kit placed his hand over Ty's heart.
"But don't you get it Ty?" He asked softly. "You already have, whether you meant to or not. I'm in your system sweetheart, in your blood just like you're in mine." Ty felt him smile. "Like we were made for each other. Like we've spent our entire lives waiting for each other."
Ty pulled away from him. "No I don't believe that," he stated firmly. "I don't believe in fate or destiny or soulmates. I think it's an overt  romanticization of life and the human condition which can have disastrous consequences. It leads people to believe that they are somehow incomplete without a romantic partner which is incredibly problematic." Ty realized he was probably going on a bit of a tangent as he was known to do. But he couldn't be bothered to care.
Kit pouted a little. "Yeah I get that. But I don't know. I like to romanticize things in life. After everything that I've been through, I guess it just makes things feel better you know?" Kit glanced at him hopefully."I don't care if you don't believe in any of those things. I do. And despite what you might believe, you aren't always right about everything," Kit said pointedly.
Ty scowled at him. Kit was undeterred. "And I get that you're coming at this from a scary trauma place. I understand that. I have those too. But you don't have to be afraid of me," he pleaded.
Ty couldn't resist reaching out and touching him, pushing a curly lock of hair behind his ear. "Can I maybe think about it?" Kit smiled and snuggled up against Ty's chest again. "Of course," he murmered. Ty leaned back and resumed his earlier position, staring up at the sky.
He nuzzled his face against Kit's hair. "I'm glad you're not mad at me anymore," said Ty.
Kit snorted, turning to face Ty. "I'm never mad at you love. It's pretty much impossible." Ty grinned and leaned forward to kiss him slowly, savoring the feeling of Kit's lips against his.
Kit broke off and kissed Ty's cheek, then his orbital bone. Ty giggled and closed his eyes which prompted Kit to place a kiss on each of his eyelids.
"I love every inch of you," Kit whispered. Ty couldn't speak. He was too overwhelmed. He just wrapped his arms around Kit even tighter and pressed a kiss to his forehead.
They lay in peaceful silence for several moments before Kit spoke.
"Tell me a story."
In case you missed it, the story Eleanor was telling Ty is the story of kitty in Lady Midnight basically. Also. Not me projecting my fear of marriage onto my comfort character! 😂

Something I think about a lot lately is how the fandom often forgets how Kilgarrah tells Merlin on the series finale that everything he'd worked for had come to pass. This implies that the Gilden Age of Camelot had indeed been brought about. Just not in the way anybody expected. I think that people wanted Arthur to find out about Merlin's magic, legalize it, and then rule Camelot with Merlin by his side. And yes, as an audience member, that would've been the ideal scenario. But the thing is, in the context of the show, that was never the objective. First of all, I find it really annoying how people act like Arthur didn't make any changes regarding the laws against magic at all. We are literally shown that he has when he orders the villagers in 5x03 to let the old woman go. And with Kara, he explicitly states that her wrong was in ABUSING magic and in murder rather than being a sorcerer or a Druid. And also, let's not forget the way he took Mordred under his wing. Chances are that Arthur figured out Mordred was a Druid once he remembered who he was. So it's blatantly obvious that changes regarding laws against magic were changed under Arthur' rule. However, with the threat of Morgana ways present, there's no way he could've simply legalized magic without it bringing about dire consequences. The whole point of the battle of Camlaan was to eliminate the threat that Morgana posed. And in the end, not only are we told that Arthur and Merlin did fulfill their destinies but also that they will be reunited. I definitely feel that the magic reveal should've come much earlier bc just like everybody I would've loved to see Arthur and Merlin ruling side by side. But if we take a step back from how we wish things had gone and look at how things actually went, it actually makes perfect sense that things turned out the way they did. Magic could never have been allowed freedom until the threat towards Camelot was eliminated. Morgana's defeat did exactly that. Kilgarrah tells Merlin that everything that needed to happen has happened. And he also tells Merlin that when the time comes, he and Arthur will be reunited. I believe that to be true. All of that said, the show wasn't perfect but I think that people are often a bit too critical and miss the bigger picture. I wish that we'd gotten to see Merlin and Arthur together in the end but at least we have the comfort of knowing they will be reunited once more
hello!!!! listen i got so excited when i saw this ask omg... ok SO
i completely agree. actually i think you made a really good point that I’ve never even really thought of before: everyone’s assumption about what the golden age of camelot should look like is heavily dependent on kilgharrah’s words in the first ep. kilgharrah told the audience what arthur is destined to do. kilgharrah introduced destiny. kilgharrah kept pushing destiny. all of our expectations for what arthur should have done completely rely upon what kilgharrah said to merlin in 1.01, that everyone else just reasserted along the way.
im not going to lie. personally, im not satisfied that we did not see a camelot without proper laws around magic. i, too, was expecting that at the end. but it is kind of funny how my expectations rely on a character’s descriptions, and yet i still was not satisfied despite that character saying that destiny is fulfilled. like its genuinely kind of odd, isnt it? im thinking, ‘ok kilgharrah says that arthur is supposed to do x, y, and z, cool’ but not ‘ok kilgharrah has now said arthur achieved everything cool’ ???
its almost like im taking what kilgharrah said and twisting it into being what i personally expected, and then taking it out on arthur.....
some might say that its bad writing and that the writers are going back on what they originally wanted. honestly, i dont know. im in no position to critique whether something is good or bad writing. maybe this was their intention all along and everyone blew it out of proportion. maybe they could have articulated it better. maybe it is bad writing. idk. all i know is that the same character that told us what the objective was at the beginning (that we all accepted) said that the objective was reached at the end. and people, not being satisfied, blame it on another character not doing enough and whatnot.
anyway. i just want to say that i do understand people’s frustration with arthur. sometimes it does feel like he makes promises too big to keep (4.10). sometimes he is frustratingly taking one step forward and two steps back. sometimes it does feel like having as much power as he does makes everything so simple and within reach. i get it. he’s fucking frustrating sometimes, and honestly, im not going to begrudge people on their annoyance/anger with his character progression/what he did/didn’t do.
but i also agree with you. i personally think that people oversimplify it too much. so much that it makes vilifying arthur very easy. i think its quite naive to think that the laws regarding magic could be reversed so simply and so easily. actually, i think a lot of this stems from the comparisons people have drawn between having magic and being gay. which, im just going to talk about for a second: i get that people like identifying/relating magic with being in the lgbt+ community. i understand that some of the prejudices they face look very familiar. i get that some lines just scream that magic is an analogy for being gay, ok. i get it! people want them to be free and accepted because it’ll almost feel like a personal win. you want magic to be legalized and accepted as soon as possible bc you understand the struggles magic users go through and you just want them to be themselves. discrimination over something one cannot control is personal, no matter what it is. so i get it!! sometimes i agree! but people get so caught up in relating to certain experiences and humanizing magic so much to the point that they forget that it is a very real threat that really can corrupt people and cannot be fought with anything other than itself. like its so fucking easy for people to forget this. i dont even understand why its so easy, since we are shown how dangerous and intangible it is every fucking episode. i think at some point you get so caught up in relating to a character’s experience and wanting for them what you want for yourself/your community that you forget the fundamental differences that are present, too.
like yeah, of course you’re allowed to see your own struggles as a queer person in those with magic in merlin, but that doesn’t mean the root of your struggles is the same??? like yes, the hatred towards magic was a prejudiced one. it wasn’t at all valid, the way they were treated. but magic was still a very real threat to people without it, or with less of it. there is absolutely no reason to be wary of someone for being in the lgbt+ community. but there is definitely a justified reason to fear someone with magic.
anyway. magic was something that was both grossly mismanaged, and something that did need a lot of time to fully grasp to create fair laws around. you can’t approach laws regarding magic the same way you’d approach laws pretecting lgbt+ people. the difference between a magical vs non magical person outside of law is literally one based on power imbalance. its not a difference that’s emphasized solely because of prejudice. someone with magic can fucking kill you and you wouldnt be able to do a damn thing about it. they just throw u back with some jedi force bullshit. lgbt+ people just want to be themselves!!! theres no way anyone can be harmed because of that. thats not a weapon. its not the fucking same. i honestly dont know how else to word it. i understand relating to experiences, but that doesn’t mean every single part of the situation is equal.
so trying to approach laws regarding magic the same way one would regarding lgbt+ laws is just. a flawed course of action, imo. magic is different. it affects everyone. you need to take time and make sure you do it right for all parties. you need to make sure everyone is looked after because it can be a threat to those who don’t have it. and thats not something to take lightly. any other approach to legalizing magic, in my opinion, would’ve been almost fucking offensive. if arthur wasn’t going to take all the time to learn about it, to find the best way to make it up to magic users and also to keep his non magic people safe, and respect the traditions/religions that came with magic, then what the absolute fuck would be the fucking point. anything else would’ve been, at best, a temporary solution, and at worst, the downfall of the fucking kingdom, on its way to complete entropy. and you know what, youre absolutely right. with morgana, he had no fucking time at all to learn or do a damn thing worth doing for the laws. like isn’t it just so convenient that morgana turned publicly against them/to the point of no return, at the dawn of arthurs reign??? like isnt that just so fucking convenient!!!
if it wasnt for that, arthur 200% would’ve started changing his mind about magic’s inherent evilness the second his scum of a father kicked the fucking bucket. the only reason he didnt was because morgana turned on them and became what she did. think about it: they always dealt with magic attacks, and yet arthur was always open minded about magic (well, mostly, anyway). morgana took up so much time and caused so much harm that it wasn’t even an option to give her more room. her attacks were so consistent and so destructive that she didn’t even give arthur time too cool down and think of magic being used in any way besides the way morgana used it (except for that one (1) time merlin healed gwen).
so not only did he really not have the fucking time to do research and learn as much about magic as he ought to have if he was going to compensate properly for the harm his father caused, but with morgana out? taking every chance to attack? legalizing it willy nilly wouldve been fucking stupid. im sorry but thats just my opinion. it would have been dumb.
but yes. i do think that arthur did as much as he could, regardless. we saw him execute one (1) person in all the time he was king (except for 4.05 but shh) and that was kara, and as you said. it wasnt even about her having magic???? like, ok, i havent exactly watched this ep bc i couldnt stomach it, but im pretty sure he was willing to let her go as long as she didnt try fucking killing him and his people again???(idk though you’ll have to correct me). it was also obvious from season one (1.03) that arthur always believed that the punishment should fit the crime, and that everyone needed to have a fair trial. he did not believe magic should automatically result in death (literally just watch 1.03  when hes fighting uther for gwen’s release) and this was even before merlin’s influence!
as for mordred, tbh i do actually think that was a plot hole ecjexcjeoic mostly bc they literally never brought it up where arthur struggled with it or thought about it or whatever. idek. so im not going to comment on the mordred thing. that whole arc was rushed to me. it wasnt even an arc it was like a spike lmfao ejceiceic.
i do hope merlin and arthur meet again, though. i hope that was as set in stone as arthur’s death seemed to be.
i think i accidentally turned this discussion into something else but. yes. i agree with you.

yeah i think phoenix and franziskas relationship is so interesting too, bc they way i sort of interpreted it during 3-5 was like. Franziskas thinks they are friends, (not like bffs or anything) and she doesnt really have many friends? but for phoenix, and this is possibly just bc he was completely out of it during that case, franziskas "just some girl" (neutral) he couldnt remember her name. but i think this is also bc not to the same degree as edgeworth obviously, but losing to phoenix was an important part of her growth and character development. AS WELL as how phoenix handled losing at the end of 2-4
god does. he not remember her name. freak. i mean sure hes having a rough time of it but have some respect phoenix, thats your future sister in law. in two ways.
fran considering phoenix as her friend is a take i haven’t actually hear before but it’s an interesting one. my gut reaction is to disagree, and say theyre really only putting up with each other but like. if her metric for friends is edgeworth honestly who knows maybe thats how she is with her friends. she really is so lonely though like. thinking about that year between goodbyes and reunion and turnabout makes me so sad bc. girl is alone. completely. she’s not even a legal adult yet at that point so its like. 17 and alone in another country and then your father is convicted of murder and then your brother is DEAD?? like. arugh. anyway this is why my hc for post trilogy franziska is that she’s in a book club with a bunch of moms because i think it’d be really funny and i want her to have just the most normal ladies in their 40s as her friends.
in terms of aa2 and especially the ending, franziska’s development from is is certainly more subtle than say, edgeworth who changes his entire worldview and it really takes until the end of aai2 for her to really truly have her moment of clarity and acknowledgement of the change shes gone through. i think for franziska, it wasn’t the losing that changes her, but as you said, phoenix’ reaction to his own loss. when franziska lost she just tried to deny it, hide it, refused to acknowledge it’s legitimacy. but phoenix losing and being HAPPY about it is such an important moment for franziska because she’s been taught her whole life that losing is wrong and bad, and she’s convinced herself that she lost edgeworth because he lost, and so her losing just makes her angry. but phoenix being happy showed franziska that it wasn’t losing that was the problem.
in my ideal world where franziska gets to be the protagonist of her own game, i’d finish her arc by having her purposefully lose in court. i think it would be a really nice conclusion for the final big choice of the game to be whether or not she presents a piece of evidence that would convict the defendant, but she realizes that the evidence isnt right, and it’s become clear who the real culprit is. the choice to loose would be powerful and i dunno i just think it’d be a cool twist.

Little Prince (Pt.2)
-------------------------
"The mafia? Roman are you kidding me? Do you know how dangerous they are!" Remus was pacing the living room, his husband Virgil sitting on the couch with his arms wrapped around his stomach.
"They saved my life Rem! It's not like I'm hurt!" Roman pouted, he knew Remus wasnt going to take the fact that the lounge had been attacked well, but he'd at least thought he'd be happy Roman was safe.
"Roman they're the mafia! You cant trust a word they say or anything they do! They're just going to manipulate you and drag you into their messes!" Remus said, almost pleadingly.
"Just because you're a year older than me doesnt mean you know everything!" Roman said.
"I know that you cant keep putting yourself in danger for the sake of your reputation!" Remus said, there were tears in his eyes, Roman felt a twinge of guilt.
"Just. . . Stay away from them, for your own good," Remus said before walking back over to the couch and sitting next to Virgil. He held his arms out, seemingly to pull the smaller man into a hug, but Virgil seemed adamant about not changing positions. Roman sighed and walked back into his room, collapsing onto the bed and turning over to look at the ceiling. Logan's voice echoing in his head, he felt his cheeks heat up as the phrase Little Prince found it's way to the front of his thoughts. He'd never felt that way about being addressed as royalty before. It had always felt like a charade, a costume, like he wasnt really a monarch, but when Logan said it. . .
"Oh cut it out! Hes probably just like ever other man you've met, big sleazy and flirtatious, you're no prince. You're a fool." Roman glared at himself in the mirror and snarled the words, quietly enough that he hoped Remus wouldnt hear him.
He had more nightmares than ever that night, yet somehow they were never able to finish. At the last second a knight on a horse would charge at whatever Roman seemed to be afraid of, and the nightmare would end. He never saw the knight's face, but he remembered the crest on his horse's armor, a dove, with blue and red cloth in its mouth. Roman snatched his journal off of his nightstand, quickly sketching it down to save for later. He wasnt about to let a knight in shining armor slip out of his grasp, especially not now.
The real problem was waiting for him in the morning, The Butterfly Lounge had been shut down by who ever had attacked, which meant Roman had to find a new contract. He decided to meet up with his former boss to discuss the terms of his last, only to receive news that made his skin crawl.
"It says it right here in the fine print, in the event something happens to the lounge or you need to find new work, I chose your new place of employment," the grin on his ex-employer's face was akin to that of a crocodile about to take a bite out of an unsuspecting deer.
"But- that cant be legal! I mean- if I dont work for you anymore then that contract should no longer be valid!" Roman's hands were shaking, he grabbed onto the bottom of his chair in an attempt to steady them.
"Oh relax Roman, The Andromeda Quarter isnt that bad of a club, they'd love you there," the smile widened, Roman felt sick to his stomach.
"Y-yes sir," Roman said, he felt like throwing up as he walked out of the building.
The Andromeda Quarter was one of the most elite sections of the town, men in suites with women trailing behind them like lost dogs, prices so high it was a surprise that they didnt fly at this point. This was his parents favorite place before they moved, everyone there knew him, knew his talents and his family and had more expectations for him than the rest of the city. He had promised himself as a kid that he'd never live or work there as long as he could help it, but he supposed he'd have to add that to the long list of broken promise's hanging over his head like a cloud of acid rain.
Roman didnt talk to anyone when he got home, he merely changed into a pale red shirt with a crown on the top corner and a long white skirt, throwing a white jacket over the top of it before slipping on some heels. His feet ached with each move, but he tolerated it, he had to make a good impression.
As soon as he entered the building his nose was hit with the scent of all manner of alcoholic beverages, the aura of drunkenness carried throughout the whole bar.
It didnt get any better when he walked backstage. The man that greeted him had two barely dressed girls sitting on each side of his chair, his face was dressed with the same self-entitled smile ever member of the quarter wore.
"Roman, lovely to finally see you," he said, his voice dripping with feigned sweetness.
"Good afternoon," Roman said, setting himself down into a chair.
"Now, I suppose you already know who I am," said the man.
"Doyle Andromeda, great great grandson of the founder of the Andromeda Quarter," Roman said quietly.
"Good, and I of course know who you are, your voice is recognized throughout the country," Mr. Andromeda said, brushing back a lock of brown hair.
"Now, there is of course, the contract," he continued, pushing a piece of paper toward him. Roman scanned the paper, looking through every line for some chance of escape, finding nothing but paragraphs of descriptions on just how little of his voice mind and body was really going to be his. He bit back tears as he signed the paper, and swallowed the sobs rising in his throat as he left the meeting. His life was going to be over the next day, he just knew it.
A few blocks closer to home he ran into someone, instinctively throwing his hands up to block his face.
"Roman?. . ." Roman froze at the sound of Logan's voice. He felt his hands shaking as Logan took them in his own and lowered them, letting go to brush Roman's hair back and hold his face.
"I-I-" Roman was trying to will himself to run, to listen to his brother and get away before he got hurt again, but his heart was telling him to let Logan hold him, to melt into his touch until the rest of the world disappeared in a cloud of smoke.
"Oh my poor little prince, you look so distressed, what went wrong? Do you need something to drink perhaps?" Roman let himself go numb in Logan's arms, tears spilling out of his eyes.
"I promised I wouldnt go back, I promised and a broke it and now I'm stuck and I dont know what they're going to do to me now that they have me," Logan's jacket smelled like lavender and fresh grass, Roman committed that to memory, he was going to buy air freshener with it later if he had to.
"Go back where? Dont cry dont cry, I'll protect you, I'll keep you safe little prince I promise you," Logan ran his fingers through Roman's hair as he cried, his voice full of worry.
"Th-the Andromeda Quarter, to many people know me there, to many people that dont care, that think I'm just a pretty voice and a pretty face with not a brain or a heart in my body," Roman said with a choked cry.
"Shshshsh- it's alright, it'll be alright, I'll fix this, I'll fix it," said Logan. He held Roman in his arms all the way back to Roman's house, knocking on the door twice.
Remus' face fell almost as soon as he opened it.
"Roman!" Roman let out a slight whine as he was pulled away from Logan, grasping at his hands in a desperate attempt to stay close.
"What did you do to him!" Remus said, there was a slight hint of fear in his eyes as he looked at Roman's small form curled up in the corner of the room.
"Please I didnt mean to intrude- i found him walking home- he looked upset," Logan said, all to calmly for someone facing a man who could make an axe murderer look sane.
"Why is he upset then?" Remus said, digging his nails into the doorframe.
"Hes been transferred to the Andromeda Quarter, and I'm going to fix it for him," Logan said, still unnaturally calm.
"He what." Remus rushed over to Roman's side, allowing Logan to slip into the house and stand next to them. Within seconds Roman was latched to his side, head buried in the crook of his neck.
"Roman how did this happen?" Logan held one hand up, wrapping the other around Roman's waist.
"Let's let him adjust to it, he's clearly distressed, if you'd like I can go out and get something to help him," Logan said. Remus looked at him for a few seconds before finally nodding.
"Anything that helps my brother,"

Su*cide is not selfish
!!TW/CW- please do not reason if you are triggered by the topic of suicide and SI/SH!!
- this is not in anyway supposed to be promoting suicide but I feel like its a misconception that people generally take on when someone chooses to ctb.
Suicide; The act of intentionally causing one’s death
I began to be suicidal at aged 12, borderline 13, when I first became a victim to primary school and secondary school bullying. I made a promise to myself that the way I die will eventually be my decision and thus caused by myself. I remember first telling my mum that I wanted to end my life and the amount of fake sympathy I received was overwhelming especially from those who never cared about me in the first place. Of course my mum was distraught as any parent would be, but I also remember the numerous discussions I overheard about how suicide was an ‘easy’ way out and was selfish. Now I don't want to be promoting ending your own life by any means but I do believe that we have the right to end our own lives without it being seen as a ‘crime’ like it used to be  many years ago.
The term “to commit suicide” ignores what actually underlies the act. To be driven to the point of having nothing/no-one to turn to is and can be caused by mental illness. By saying to commit an act, implies that it is a sin or a crime which demonises those who have gone through with it. If you haven’t been suicidal yourself you can't even imagine the pain one must go through to get to this point, it genuinely hurts and gives me (personally) peace with the idea that I am able to go forward with the act in my own dignity that to be forced to live with the pain that follows.
As much as medication and therapies have helped I can't help but get this overwhelming feeling that it is neurologically changed me and wired into me therefore, I will never get rid of my mental illness fully also meaning I will forever have to live through these extremely difficult periods of self hatred and suicidal/reckless behaviours. Honestly I’m still a child in a way and the fact that I'm not even 20 yet but I feel these things makes me physically sick that I have the rest of my life ahead of me to live through this agony making me feel the one way out is to ctb.
To label suicide as selfish is selfish on its own. You really want to force someone in extreme suffering to just get on with it? Theres a reason DNRs exist because it allows those with perhaps terminal and life concluding illnesses to seek a way out peacefully when their time finally comes, the same with euthanasia which is banned in many places.
“A do not resuscitate order (DNR) is a legally binding order signed by a physician at a patient's request. Its purpose is to let medical professionals know you do not want to be resuscitated if you suddenly go into cardiac arrest or stop breathing. This is a common concern of the chronically ill and the elderly. The details of a DNR are usually discussed at the time of admission to a hospital, nursing facility, or hospice program.”
“Euthanasia, depending on the circumstances, euthanasia is regarded as either manslaughter or murder. The maximum penalty is life imprisonment. Assisted suicide on the other hand is illegal under the terms of the Suicide Act (1961) and is punishable by up to 14 years' imprisonment. Trying to kill yourself is not a criminal act. (in the UK)”
DEFINING EUTHANASIA AND DNRs
WHY SUICIDE ISNT SELFISH ARTICLE
ARTICLE 2
While I can fully understand why these misconceptions may come about it angers me that there is still the idea of it being selfish. If I am selfish for wanting to commit suicide then why would I choose to not burden you with this information? why would I continue to try and fight the impending act? Why would I pretend I'm fine when I'm not? Suicide is not a choice it, it becomes the only guaranteed way to end suffering. It’s not that I don’t want to live but there is no other way the pain will leave and I don't want to deal with it anymore because it hurts too much.
