He missed his true brothers: little Rickon, bright eyes shining as he begged for a sweet; Robb, his rival and best friend and constant companion; Bran, stubborn and curious, always wanting to follow and join in whatever Jon and Robb were doing. He missed the girls too, even Sansa, who never called him anything but "my half brother" since she was old enough to understand what bastard meant. And Arya...he missed her even more than Robb, skinny little thing that she was, all scraped knees and tangled hair and torn clothes, so fierce and willful. Arya never seemed to fit, no more than he had...yet she could always make Jon smile. He would give anything to be with her now, to muss up her hair once more and watch her make a face, to hear her finish a sentence with him.
AGoT, Jon III
Jon's so lonely that he even misses Sansa 🤣 With all his other siblings, he remembers their good memories, but he has no fond memories of Sansa, so he goes with the only memory he has: her belittling him because he's bastard-born. Interesting parallel, in Sansa's third POV, which I think is the first time she thinks of Jon since they left Winterfell, she thinks of him as her bastard half-brother. Not even in her thoughts does she give him much respect. She could have referred to him as just Jon, or her brother, but no. He is her bastard half-brother.
And then there's Arya, Jon's beloved Arya. Who he dedicated half the paragraph thinking about. Robb was his best friend and constant companion, but Jon misses Arya more. She's that important to him. It's also interesting that Jon specifically mentions loving Arya for her "scraped knees and tangled hair and torn clothes, so fierce and willful," which is something that Sansa looks down on Arya for. She's constantly talking about how Arya's attire is embarrassing to her and how she would prefer Arya not be present so she wouldn't ruin a perfectly good day. But Jon loves Arya for it. He misses Arya, and he misses that about her.

Even without the shitty last seasons and character developments, asoiaf books take the W for the simple fact that the obvious young hero of the first book is like. 15. Like even in the pjo or hp series where there are fated young heroes haunted with tragedy something about robb stark just makes me want to sob.
He's 15 and his beard is just starting to grow, one day he's playing with his siblings and friends and the next day he learns that his father will leave for king's landing, and then his little brother falls from a tower and he is crippled. his father leaves his home and his men to his mother and him, but his mother does not leave his brother's side, doesn't eat, doesn't sleep. the whole castle and the region depends on him to function, he listens to everyone but it's not enough and he begs his mother for help, then he begs his mother so that she rests a little. His mother gets better but still leaves him, and now he functions fully as the heir of winterfell. he dislikes killing even the wildlings, but he recognizes the duty but he still sighs in relief when he's advised not to kill. He takes care of everyone and then he cries with his brother at night, his voice shakes when he defends his brother but his sword doesn't, even the ones he trusts the most does not run for his brother like he does. He's scared all the time but he keeps going and he keeps listening and he keeps caring and it's just not enough.
His father dies. he's the lord of winterfell now, and then king of the north. he's fifteen. no matter what he does, he's fifteen.

Day 13: Class Differences - The daughter of the Hand and the son of the King
The Red Keep and Flea Bottom
She had been sleeping in Flea Bottom, on rooftops and in stables, wherever she could find a place to lie down, and it hadn't taken her long to learn that the district was well named.

A few days past, he had taken Ned aside to show him an exquisite gold locket. Inside was a miniature painted in the vivid Myrish style, of a lovely young girl with doe's eyes and a cascade of soft brown hair. Renly had seemed anxious to know if the girl reminded him of anyone, and when Ned had no answer but a shrug, he had seemed disappointed. The maid was Loras Tyrell's sister Margaery, he'd confessed, but there were those who said she looked like Lyanna.

"I'm a girl," Arya said, exasperated. If the old man was down from the Wall, he must have come by way of  Winterfell. "Do you know my brothers?" she asked excitedly. "Robb and Bran are at Winterfell, and Jon's on the Wall. Jon Snow, he's in the Night's Watch too, you must know him, he has a direwolf, a white one with red eyes. Is Jon a ranger yet? I'm Arya Stark." The old man in his smelly black clothes was looking at her oddly, but Arya could not seem to stop talking. "When you ride back to the Wall, would you bring Jon a letter if I wrote one?" She wished Jon were here right now. He'd believe her about the dungeons and the fat man with the forked beard and the wizard in the steel cap.
AGoT, Arya III
I love how Arya gets distracted talking about Jon that she forgets to introduce herself 🤣
Arya's absolute faith in her brother 🥰 She knows, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that he would believe her. He's always been there for her. Her rock. Her best friend. Her confidant. Her heart.
