The First Date
Tumblr media
Eddie Munson x Reader
Summary: Your first date with Eddie doesn't go exactly as planned after you and your friends get taken and drugged by Russian spies, making him think that you stood him up.
Warnings: A little bit of angst.
2k words
Eddie Munson.
You'd seen him around school. He was loud, rough, and slightly intimidating.
The first time you saw him was in the cafeteria, loudly speaking about the throes of capitalism, forced conformity, and the demonization of people whom society deemed 'different'. You mostly tuned people out during lunch, but it was hard to ignore Eddie. He was so captivating. You weren't sure if it was the way he used his entire body when making a point, aggressively gesticulating, or the way his face twisted and turned as he spoke, or just his general demeanor, that made everything he said sound so poignant. He hadn't really been in your orbit before, so outside your social circle. You were friends with people like Steve Harrington and Nancy Wheeler, not necessarily because you were popular but rather through shared trauma. There was something about going through life-altering events and near-death experiences that really bonded people for life.
The first time you spoke to Eddie was after you saw him taping a poster on a bulletin board outside the auditorium.
Hellfire Club. D&D.
"Hey, is that a D&D club?" you asked him.
He turned around, slightly startled, and looked at you with surprise.
"Oh, hey! Didn't see you there. Yeah, it's a D&D club. I'm trying to recruit new members since we're running a bit low..." He replied, giving you a hesitant smile.
He seemed a bit nervous, slightly tugging on his hair and anxiously tapping his foot. You're pretty sure you were making him nervous. You'd seen the way people like Steve treated people like Eddie, even though Steve had grown considerably after taking out a Demogorgon and watching his girlfriend nearly die. You'd seen the way Tommy and Carol used to laugh at the 'freaks', shoving them around in the hallways, making fun of their interests, like the time Tommy made someone in the band cry during a pep rally. The realization that Eddie was nervous because he expected you to do the same slightly hurt.
"That's cool! This kid that I babysit—his name's Dustin, he really likes D&D. He plays it a lot with his other friends. Whenever I used to babysit him, he'd drag me to their games. I never really got it, mostly because any time I asked a question, Dustin would scream at me," you breathlessly ramble, "He's not a huge fan of anyone who doesn't get the point, like, right away."
It seemed that the more you rambled, the more at ease Eddie became, and suddenly he was laughing as you spoke.
"Well, I promise that we don't yell at anyone in Hellfire. Only when we're excited," Eddie said, a small smile lingering on his lips as he looked at you, "Just in case you ever wanna join in."
"I might take you up on that offer. I've been pegged down the list of 'coolest teens' that Dustin knows, and my ego's taken a hit," you joked.
You hadn't ended up joining Hellfire. But you and Eddie had become sort of friends. You'd see him around school. You were both in some of the same classes, you'd see him in the hallways and you'd wave at each other. Sometimes you'd see him in the parking lot after school and you'd chat for a bit. But that was the extent of it. You didn't grow closer until summer started and you got a job at Starcourt. You worked at Café Nocturne, right across from Scoops Ahoy where Steve had started working. Most days, you spent your lunch break lounging around Scoops Ahoy, eating free ice cream, and making fun of Steve with his co-worker Robin. Sometimes you wondered what Eddie was up to, not having seen him since summer started, and you found yourself hoping you'd see him around Starcourt.
It wasn't until the second week of summer that you saw Eddie. The Café had been relatively quiet, only an old couple sitting in the far corner drinking lattes. You were trying to pass the time by making random drinks when you saw Eddie lingering by the cash register.
"Eddie!" you said, surprising yourself by how loud you were. You cleared your throat awkwardly and shuffled over to him, sending him a shy smile.
"Y/N? Hey, I didn't know you worked here," Eddie said, rubbing the back of his neck nervously, "It's nice to see you again, I was wondering where you went."
"Oh, just been making coffee...hanging out with my friends," you replied, "How's your summer been so far?"
"Erm, yeah, it's been okay. I've just been working, hanging out with Gareth and Jeff, writing some new music," Eddie replied.
"For Corroded Coffin, right?" you asked.
"Yeah, wow, how'd you know about that?" Eddie said, nervously twirling his hair.
"Oh-um...I heard you talking about it in the cafeteria once," you responded, hoping you didn't sound like a stalker.
"Right, yeah, you should come see us sometime. We play in the Hide Out every Tuesday," Eddie said, as a shy grin crept on his face, "We kinda get a crowd, actually...of about five drunks."
You let out a small giggle, "That sounds nice. Unfortunately, I work every Tuesday. Maybe when school starts?"
Eddie was slightly deflated at that, nodding his head in understanding. Not wanting to ruin your one chance at spending time with Eddie this summer, you hesitatingly asked, "Maybe we can hang out sometime? You could teach me D&D? I didn't get the chance to learn when you first offered..."
Eddie immediately perked up at that, nodding vigorously as he said, "Yeah! Yeah, that'd be great. I can totally do that. Erm, do you wanna meet here tomorrow at 7? We could grab some food-"
"Oh, I was hoping we could meet somewhere else. Maybe at Patty's diner? It's just that I spend all my time at Starcourt," you responded.
"Yeah, that works. Patty's at 7. It's a date," Eddie replied, before quickly backtracking. "Not like a date-date, I just meant, like, a platonic date. Like just friends hanging out, chilling, y'know? Unless you want it to be a date? It doesn't have to be! But, like-"
You cut him off before he could dig further into the hole he found himself in, giggling a little at how flustered he looked. "It's a date. A non-platonic, hopefully romantic, date."
"That's...that's great, yeah. I will see you then," Eddie said breathlessly, shuffling his way out as he raised a hand to wave goodbye, almost knocking into the table behind him as he left.
God, he's adorable.
♡♡♡
"I swear to God Dustin, if we die in this elevator, I will strangle you with my bare hands," you grit out, pacing back and forth as everyone tried to reel in their panic, "I have a fucking date in two hours and if I miss it, I will literally end you."
"No one gives a shit about your stupid date," Dustin yelled, throwing his hands around wildly as Erica slammed a bottle of weird-looking fluid on the wall. You weren't even gonna try and deal with that, it looked like Robin had it handled as you watched her snatch the bottle from Erica's hands.
Things escalated pretty quickly from there and suddenly you were lying on the floor of a bathroom cubicle, trying to make the room stop spinning.
"Is this what it feels like to do drugs?" you groaned out, stretching on the disgusting tiles and praying that your head stopped pounding.
"I wouldn't know," Robin replied, "But if it is, this sucks."
"Steve? Are you alive?" you asked, "I don't need you dying on me. You're my ride home."
"I'm good," you heard him croak.
"Think we puked it all out?" you asked.
"Let's check...interrogate me." Robin said.
"When's the last time you peed your pants?" Steve asked, and you heard Robin let out a cackle, "Today."
"What the fuck, Robin?" you laughed.
"It was when they took out the bone saw. And only a little!" she defended herself, giggling with you.
"I'm meant to be on a date," you moaned, "He's gonna think I stood him up. How am I meant to explain this shit?"
"We'll figure it out," Steve replied, "Also, who's this guy anyway? You've been moaning about missing this date for, like, hours?"
"Yeah, it's getting kinda annoying," Robin added.
"It's Eddie." you replied, crawling into the stall next to you and sitting down in front of Robin. "Eddie Munson. He's a senior. Long, curly, untamed hair. Really loud. Plays D&D."
"Wait, Eddie 'The Freak' Munson? Isn't he a drug dealer?" Steve asked, a little surprised.
"Don't call him that!" you said, slightly defensive, "And I didn't know that. But if this is what drug consumption is like then he needs to stop."
As the drugs slowly purged out of your systems, and Steve tried to hit on Robin only to get rejected and have a heart-to-heart, the three of you found yourselves giggling hysterically in the dingy bathroom. It wasn't long until Dustin and Erica burst in and dragged you all out. As the night progressed, things only got worse. And soon, all of you were facing off a thirty-feet tall Mind Flayer and reeling from the loss that followed. Then the dust settled, a different story was fabricated, and everyone had to pretend to move on. And you had an apology to give.
♡♡♡
You didn't see Eddie until school started again. It was the first day back, hallways busy and bustling as the freshmen teetered around cluelessly. This year felt different, like there was some cosmic shift in the air. Everything seemed duller, void of any feeling. You weren't sure what it was exactly, but if you had to guess then it was probably the Starcourt 'fire' that had brought on this change. Things weren't the same after. It was like all of Hawkins was reeling from the loss, despite not having known the truth. You wished that you'd been oblivious. Maybe then everything wouldn't hurt this much.
You didn't see Eddie around school until lunch. You were almost sure he was avoiding you. You finally saw him lingering in the hallway by his locker, putting some books in, and you immediately made a beeline for him.
"Eddie!" you called, startling him as he looked up.
You walked over before he could say anything, "I've been looking all over for you! I'm so sorry I couldn't make it to Patty's. I wanted to explain everything over the summer, but my parents grounded me, which was incredibly annoying since I didn't even do anything. But I think they were just super paranoid and didn't know what else to do and I didn't have your number so I couldn't call you and-"
Your rambling was cut off by Eddie as he held up his hands and dismissively waved, "It's cool, it's fine. Honestly, I don't know why I thought you would show up. If it was some joke or whatever, like, it's...whatever."
"What? No! That wasn't some joke. I really wanted to go on that date, but you know what happened at Starcourt, right?" you anxiously spoke.
"The fire? I don't see what that has to do with anything. Doesn't your shift end at 5?" Eddie asked skeptically.
"Yes, yes it does! But I usually hang out at Scoops Ahoy because Steve's my ride home. I was doing that and then the whole fire thing happened, and I just got caught up in all of that, and then, y'know the house arrest? My parents thought if I stepped outside, I'd die or something," you quickly explained, "I promise I didn't stand you up!"
Eddie looked at you for a while until a small smile crept up on his face, "Relax, I believe you."
You immediately let out a sigh of relief, "I promise I'm not an asshole."
There were a few moments of silence that stretched between you two until Eddie finally spoke, "I'm sorry about what happened. That must've been horrifying."
You don't know the half of it.
You let out a nervous chuckle, "Erm, yeah, it was. But I've had some time to recover."
"How about we re-do that date?" Eddie asked, "Except this time I'm gonna pick you up, can't imagine the types of trouble you get into when I'm not around."
"Sounds good, Eds." you smiled, leaning forward to give him a quick peck on the cheek. As you broke away, you could see a small blush settling on his face.
"God, Y/N, buy me dinner first."

Idk if Joel would like Lanas music but I have a record player and I think he would like that. I just want to put it on in the evening, only turn on a small light and lie on his lap as we listen to the record together 🥲🥹❤️
No outbreak!Joel Miller x f!reader
A/N: that's beautiful bestie, I love this scenario 😍❤️
Tumblr media
Joel absolutely loves the fact you bought a record player, at first he thought you were too young for that and that you wouldn't enjoy it that much, but he was wrong. You adored your record player, you loved the albums you had and mostly the fact it had straightened the bond between the two of you.
Your handsome boyfriend used to have a record player when he was a teen, having to get rid of eventually over the years, he missed it very much, especially since his own records were still there, just lying around and collecting dust, until the day you told him your latest purchase.
Then, he grabbed a few of his records and drove it to your place, wanting to show you some of his musical taste and that was how you two established another habit of your relationship: Joel would come over, you two would pick a record, turn on a small light and you'd climb his lap and spend your moment cuddling and listening to music until you either ended up falling asleep or choking around his cock.
"I don't know if you'll like it Joel... It's Lana del Rey" you bit your lips as he chuckles and shakes his head
"I made you sit through a whole Twisted Sister album, I'll be fine" he assured you and sat on the couch, spreading himself like he often did, taking up all that space and patting his thigh, showing it was time for you to take your favorite seat. You gladly did so, wrapping your arm around his neck and relaxing completely against his body. He was so strong and warm, you could lose yourself in him and you would always ask for more and more.
You felt his breathing on your neck, just before his lips joined the party, kissing softly and then nibbling on your skin. A chuckle came out of his lips and he looked at you
"this girl's songs... Do all of them talk about a horny woman needing an older man?" He raised his eyebrow and saw a light shade of pink spreading through your cheeks "sounds like you're trying to give me a message..." He purred and the next thing you knew was his rough hand running down your stomach and getting under your panties.
Joel Miller wasn't a huge Lana del Rey fan, but as long as he was touching and fucking you, he could be persuaded.

HEY GIRL YOU DEFINITELY DONT KNOW WHO THIS IS *WINK WINK WINK WINK* (I'm saying wink out loud everytime btw)
From stranger to stranger *wink* do you by any chance write samgladiator hcs??????? 😊😊😊
Perhaps x reader hcs??????? 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔
THATD BE SO SILLY IF YOU DID YKNOW LIKE GIRL ITD BE CRAZYYYYYYYY YKNOW LIKE ITD BE SO INSANEEEEEEEE RIGHT???????????
EAEHRHHSUGHE DUDE RIGHTHTHTH IT WOULD BE SOOOOOO FUCKING WILD AND SUCH A SILLY THING TO DO 🤭🤭🤭
(PROBABLY WILL BE OOC THOUGH since i only watched a few episodes, so I'm really sorry if this doesn't really fit your headcanons anon WHO I TOTALLY DON'T KNOW *wink wink*)
(ANYWAY, these will be (mostly) based off the reboot since idk much and keep in mind that I only watched a few episodes, so I'm really sorry if these HCs seem really OOC)
YHS!SAM X READER HEADCANONS GO WEEEE!!!!
I STILL DON'T KNOW HOW TO WRITE
Tumblr media Tumblr media
❥ Sooo, starting off the bat, since I'm not really writing yandere hcs, let's put all the batshit crimes he committed aside for this occasion..and focus on him being really silly. ❥ If you see him tripping near a trash can, dude, that's on YOU. I imagine he'd be jokingly bragging to someone how he is about to make a 'pro gamer move', then immediately fail a millisecond later before he could even try SHIT
❥ His love language? Well...uh....you could say it's kind of a mix. ❥ For example, gift giving? Absolutely. If you were to mention something specific that you wanted even once (or maybe even when you were talking to yourself while walking back home)? Expect that very thing to appear right outside your doorstep with a poorly drawn rabbit doodle sticked on top of it with a bunny sticker. ❥ Quality time? Definitely! He loves to see you wake up and THRIVE FOR ANOTHER DAY! You BET he stalks the shit out of you though. If you can't shake the feeling that you're being watched at school, on the road back home, and mayybe when you are about to sleep, then that's on HIM. (Sorry, I said I'm not really writing yandere hcs, not that I will never write any.) ❥ Physical touch? ... ❥ DO YOU TAKE HIM AS A MENTALLY WELL GUY? I DIDN'T THINK SO. ❥ You should know by now that he would SCREAM the second his hand accidentally brushes against yours (though we're not sure about the accident part WINK WINK)
❥ I also have a teeny tiny headcanon that he only lets YOU touch his rabbit ears. (and I MEAN ONLY YOU if others even TRIED they'd be thrown to the nearest dumpster) And when you do so? He MELTS. Like don't be surprised if you see him giggle like a freaking teenage girl is what I'm trying to say 🤭🤭🤭
❥ You also cannot tell me he wouldn't also try to impress you, one way or another. Whether it be trying to make you giggle and twirl your hair by saying the most APPALLING pickup lines of all time, or casually talking to you about your interests as if he was already a huge fan of em (bro actually stood up all night looking at every search result on google about that topic, BUT SHH)
❥ He would also tell you about his day BY EITHER LYING OR TWISTING HIS WORDS AROUND. COME ON NOW.
"Sooo..what weree you up to this weekend?" ❥ "Oh, me??? Well, I bought my friend a cat...and I did help a guy raise money for his cancer.." as he recalls what the FUCK happened in his life that went wrong
❥ Now. You know this man would never ever want to leave you alone (as if it wasn't obvious enough with the abandonment issues and the stalking, but I digress) so you definitely would need to reassure his ass. But once you do so? His droopy rabbit ears would slowly, but surely go right back up again. He can't help it though, you just seem to always make him feel better by existing.
Tumblr media
either way, he is a little fucked up bastard someone please put him in a psychiatric hospital (or kiss him, that sounds like a better solution) *DROPS THE MIC AND IMMEDIATELY RUNS*

the way marvel's disney+ shows are so ephemeral that I saw a tweet saying that Episode 4s always have a "huge" twist and all the examples were so unremarkable and unknowable like who remembers any of that?
the silliest part is that if all the examples the closest to "memorable" is the one where USAgent gets blood on the Cap shield.. but that just reminded me of how silly that show and the reaction to that moment was 😖
you can tell that the "shock" of that moment has more to do with the "desecrating the American flag" factor instead of anything character-related or who US agent killed (which is where the shock should be) Because do marvel fans (& marvel) think that Steve never got blood on the shield while fighting Nazis in WW2???
I mean.. sure, Steve Rogers is meant to be the (mostly) bloodless fighter who doesn't kill and Bucky Barnes is supposed to be the guy who spills the fascist blood that has to be spilled, that's a consistent character trait..... but that's mostly in modern day.. Steve started off fighting bloody against Nazis, he used a gun and killed fascists, that Cap shield has been getting blood on it ever since the gov painted their flag on it and handed it to Steve after getting superjuiced up. This modern insistence by Marvel that Steve is pacifist to too much of a fault seems kinda forced and watered down compared to his defiant militant antifascist origins. Like yeah, that's supposed to be his character flaw, but to the degree where we act like WW2 wasn't a bloody affair?
then again, considering how much the movies and comics love retconning/ignoring stuff about Hydra being Nazis and sidestepping certain elephants in the room when it comes to their characters... maybe marvel doesn't even consider Steve to be that guy who defied his orders to go and fight the Nazis. Maybe they just want Steve be only be a guy who punches Nazis like in the in-universe Cap🇺🇸 propaganda while sweeping anything else under the rug.
Because in that show, the visual image blood on a 🇺🇸-painted shield being presented as "shocking" reads less as shock over who was killed but more as marvel playing with the idea of "disgracing" a national symbol with blood, which requires ignoring a lot about the character(s) underneath the propaganda symbol and their origin stories in the Howling Commandoes
MCU constantly reminding us that they haven't read their own source material lmao

tal's take on sacred the thread
ok now that i've listened to sacred the song, here are my thoughts that not a single person asked for:
i figured josh was joking when he said the song was about his jumpsuits and i think to an extent it is a joke but also not entirely.
lyrics on a surface level do make it seem like the song is just about their outfits, mostly josh and danny in my opinion and i'll get back to that in a second.
if we go deeper than just what's being said, and actually put it in perspective with something they've been trying to express for a while now, to me the song is more about the freedom of individuality and self expression through their physical on stage appearance as a rock band. i mean obviously there's a huge difference between the vibe of the highway tune music video and what they were wearing and the meeting the master music video and what they've been wearing for the last two ish years, again, more specifically josh and danny.
when you think of a typical rock band, one with clear influences from past bands, you expect to see what we saw with highway tune for the most part. you don't expect skin tight velvet bodysuits covered in rhinestones, rhinestones on their faces and elaborate eye makeup, vibrant feather boas, etc. i think a lot of us just expect something similar to like guns n roses. tee shirt and jeans or leather pants (like i said, highway tune) but that's not what they do anymore.
i think the way they all dress on stage now definitely goes hand in hand with their own comfort on stage as they've grown as artists. josh, who used to look up at the ceiling when he'd sing. jake, who once wasn't able to face the crowd. sam, who was shocked to find out that people cared about the instruments he played and his own talents and skills. and daniel. my sweet, incredible daniel, who still to this day gets shit for being in the band and is seen by some as being replaceable (he isn't, obviously, but that's a topic for a different post).
now they've moved past the fear of having to prove themselves. they did the work, they put in the time and effort, they made a name for themselves, and now they're playing madison square garden. they're big, they're well known, well respected not only by us as fans but by artists that came before them. they're comfortable, and in that comfort, they've reached a period where they can dress however they want and it doesn't take away from who they are as musicians, because like i said, they've proven how good they are.
this is what i was referring to at the beginning of this post where i mentioned something they've been trying to express for a while. that being, they don't need to dress a certain way because of the music they play. they aren't any less of a rock band for wearing gemstones and glitter and makeup. rock and metal artists like mötley crüe, kiss, bowie, the new york dolls, twisted sister, poison, and ratt all wore makeup and elaborate wild outfits. it didn't take away from who they were/are as musicians, and it didn't make their music any less of the genre it was.
it all comes down to self expression and it's really lovely to see greta van fleet be another band to find the look they like. bringing something inherently feminine doesn't make them less masculine, there's a balance, and i've talked about this before.
this is also why i think i'm finding it hard to not associate josh and danny with the song the most. while each of them obviously plays a part in it - and now jake and sam have branched out with their looks and are including some makeup - josh and danny are really the ones we think about when it comes to this. josh has gone from simple stones, to more elaborate designs and now actual eye makeup (the gold on his eyes was so cool I'm obsessed with it) and danny has done the same, even getting to the point of wearing more makeup than josh until a bit recently. and we've also seen danny at least wear eyeliner when he's not on stage, just when he's out with friends which i think is really cool. all of that playing into the idea that they've found comfort in a style and a look that they didn't have or maybe didn't even consider when they first got started.
on a different note (pun perhaps intended), i don't quite see where this song falls in the general idea of continuing the story and the world building we've seen since from the fires. i'm not sure if it's even meant to, but of course, that won't be fully determined until the rest of the album is released, and once it is i fully intend to pick it apart and evaluate it not just as an individual album, but as a part of the entire discography.
anyway that was a lot and if you didn't read it i don't blame you. if you did read it feel free to talk more about it with me.

adding onto your post on why LO’s audience seems devoted to her regardless of how shitty she treats them:
i think it’s mostly because LO upholds this "abuse victim standing for all abuse victims" image, as she constantly brings up the fact that she was abused by her father, (and her abuse survivor i mean horrible, horrible ex) and "analyses" stories about abuse victims (like zuko) and fabricates arguments out of that. "everyone who calls zuko's story a redemption arc instead of a recovery arc is a huge turd!" makes her look like she stands on the side of the victim's every time, which is a level of validation people like that have never experienced in their lives, so they get attached to her image because it feels like support: "finally, someone who takes my side!". anger is an emotion marginalised people are forced to repress, and lily is great at showing it due to her performativeness. (predators usually tend to try too hard and at first seem like they are too good to be true. that's because they are.)
and looking at her through this lense, it makes sense why when abuse allegations come out against her, their response is to hear out LO's side first, which we all know is going to end in them believing her even more because of the narrative she crafts around all the evidence, which they usually won't be seeking out in the first place. but even if they do end up seeing it, they will believe HER because they already wanted to, subconciously.
for example, when shiloh opened up about his abuse, he obviously showed evidence, including censored bestiality drawings and donations to show what lily has coerced him into doing.
meanwhile, LO has already twisted the story. according to her, shiloh is a gross furry who drew rape porn of her and bestiality, therefore HE is in the wrong, right? so if you're coming from LO's side, all this evidence does is confirm he did in fact used to draw porn of lily, at which point you aren't even going to want to consider the other evidence to support HIS side: the donations. on a side note, lily actually used to reblog posts saying furries shouldn't be ostracised for simply being furries, but when she made the accusations masterpost, suddenly, the fact that he was one started to matter, for some reason. "A furry drew furry porn and blamed it on me".
can lily's audience wake up? yes, many people documenting her online behaviour already did, as they all used to be fans. (this is also something she tried to paint in her own favour as if that itself wasn't a red flag). however, they usually won't be looking for it in the first place unless they themselves feel like they have been wronged by LO, at which point they will be seeking out a community that's in the very least critical of her, and that's when it all hits them.
LO's audience doesn't just unfortunately have an inexperience problem, but an emotional one: and it's called attachment. as long as it doesn't break, they will forever continue to be devoted to her. on another important note, abuse victim as a demographic is the most fragile and easiest one to take advantage of. going through abuse even when you’ve broken free from it doesn’t make you any wiser, if anything, it only distorts your perception more of what is acceptable and what isn’t.
whew, sorry, this was long.

My thoughts on episode 5
SPOILERS for season 3, episode 5 of the Animaniacs reboot.
Yes, we're still doing this. This episode contains Teeniacs, the one I've been obsessing over for months, theorizing about, posting screenshots, answering asks. Did it live up to expectations?
...what do you think? While it turned out to mostly be a funky screenshot collection, and possibly trailer bait, I'm not going to let my extremely overinflated expectations and current ravaged emotional state trick me into saying this segment was bad. It was pretty good for what it was.
The one thing I'm legitimately disappointed about is that we didn't actually get Teen Dot. I wanted to see an aged-up Warner, even if for just a few seconds in a joke segment. Turns out they were the same age and the perspective of the animation was playing tricks on us. Well, maybe alternate Dot was a little taller. Not anything drastic, though.
Tumblr media
We did still get to see an alternately aged Dot.
Tumblr media
We've already seen baby Dot multiple times in the past, though, so it's not as exciting.
I liked the way Yakko said "bro" and acted as Wakko's wingman.
Tumblr media
I enjoyed seeing this, especially how excited he sounded to say it:
Tumblr media
Does this mean Yakko is 15 now? Maybe we really do have an aged-up Warner in this segment.
I thought the brief vampire transitions were cool to see.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Teeniacs.
Tumblr media
The most disappointing part of this segment for me was how it was a minute and a half long, and then we got no Warners for the rest of the episode.
I don't have much to say about Starbox and Cindy. What could I say? Cindy is proven to be a malicious little monster who hurts Starbox on purpose. I can respect it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The main thing to talk about in this episode is obviously Groundmouse Day. It is officially confirmed that Pinky is not, in fact, the genius. Right, guys?
Tumblr media
I liked how this episode focused on the obvious fact that Brain's schemes are mostly thwarted by stupid little twists of fate, and if he could just have a few redos, pretty much every single one of them would work. It's always super satisfying to me when a cartoon character who has been failing to do something for an entire show finally breaks through and does it, such as Brain successfully taking over the world.
Tumblr media
I enjoyed Brain getting one over on the surfer dude and being unapologetically pleased when the guy is emotionally affected by it. He deserved that one.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Edit: Oh, and I liked the furry joke.
So yeah, not going to lie, there wasn't much here for me in this episode. It felt like filler, especially because the main plot of the episode isn't even resolved in this episode. Almost wish they would just have done a full Pinky and the Brain episode focusing entirely on Groundmouse Day.
Also, shout out to this person for being entirely correct.
I really don't know how to rank this one. None of it was bad. None of it blew my socks off. There were some fun sights in Teeniacs, but that was about it for me. I can't really judge Groundmouse Day yet because the rest is in the next episode. It could really go above any of the episodes except episode 3 and below any of them as well. I'm just going to go off of which ones I would rather rewatch, which means this episode will be ranked last. If I was a huge Pinky and the Brain fan, it would be different for sure.
My current ranking of season 3 episodes:
Episode 3
Episode 4
Episode 2
Episode 1
Episode 5
I encourage you to add to the discussion of this episode if you want, but don't say anything about any of the episodes that come after. Thanks for sticking with me.

With the Scalding Sands even being on the ENG server at the time of typing this, people are speculating about who Jamil's middle school friend could be. Since I'm bored, I'm tossing my hat into the arena with my own speculation.
What do we know about about this friend?
Jamil and them used to spend time at the market together.
They liked to snag Jamil's food when he wasn't looking.
They love to dance.
Them and Jamil got along pretty well, only getting into one major argument.
Was a bit of a troublemaker
What type of people he doesn't like or finds annoying?
Jamil isn't friends with anyone at NRC, including Azul who he finds to be super shady.
While he's friends with Kalim on some level, it's mostly thanks to social obligation as his servant than a naturally formed one.
From what we can glean from all that, what type of person would he actually like to hang out with out of his own freewill? My best guess would be someone's who is down to earth, capable, intelligent, and able to pull him out of his shell to bring out that mischievous side the game keeps on mentioning. He also wouldn't be huge fan of someone who's
Who in the Aladdin universe are the most likely characters for them to be twisted from?
Iago: This one is obvious. Iago was Jafar's sidekick. While they bickered, they still got along at least in the first movie. Little known fun fact, "twisted" Iago was supposed to be in the game instead of Kalim, but they were scrapped at some point in development. (I think that was a good call, but never here nor there right now.) There's a strong possibility of "twisted" Iago being somewhere in that universe. Said character also taking other inspos, including from characters from other franchises, is possible as well.
Aladdin: While the idea of Jamil being friends with a character inspired by the hero of that story is a bit out there, there is some merit to this one. Aladdin is sly and quick on his feet. Plus, the person is painted as being more mischievous and troublemaking, which lines up with him more.
Aladdin's friends from the Broadway Play: They are mischievous troublemakers, who loved to rib on Aladdin. Since Najma was twisted from Jafar's sister from a video game in the 90s, Yana pulling inspo from other media in the Aladdin universe.
I think Aladdin and Iago are the most likely at this point. But at this point who knows unless they show up at some point.

bride by ali hazelwood: four-star review
Tumblr media
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ / ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
synopsis:
Misery Lark, the only daughter of the most powerful Vampyre councilman of the Southwest, is an outcast—again. Her days of living in anonymity among the Humans are over: she has been called upon to uphold a historic peacekeeping alliance between the Vampyres and their mortal enemies, the Weres, and she sees little choice but to surrender herself in the exchange—again…
Weres are ruthless and unpredictable, and their Alpha, Lowe Moreland, is no exception. He rules his pack with absolute authority, but not without justice. And, unlike the Vampyre Council, not without feeling. It’s clear from the way he tracks Misery’s every movement that he doesn’t trust her. If only he knew how right he was….
Because Misery has her own reasons to agree to this marriage of convenience, reasons that have nothing to do with politics or alliances, and everything to do with the only thing she's ever cared about. And she is willing to do whatever it takes to get back what’s hers, even if it means a life alone in Were territory…alone with the wolf.
if ali hazelwood has no fans, consider me deceased because i am an ali hazelwood enthusiast first and human second. quote me.
so when i heard ali was coming out with a new book and it wasn't STEM or academia centred? honestly, i was SO excited. when i heard it was a paranormal (tick!) marriage of convenience (double tick!) between an alpha and a vampyre (tickticktick!!!!!!) i knew, going into this book, i'd like it. what can i say, i'm a simple gal and i'm satisfied with the way ali writes her characters. aka, snarky - ish independent female is used to doing everything on her own, meets a six foot nine HUGE man who has been pining over her from the beginning. oops, this was supposed to be no spoiler territory. oh well.
okay, quick list of reasons and tropes of the book if you want the tl;dr
marriage of convenience
forbidden romance (their species are enemies! AH!)
he falls first AND falls harder
first person (thank you, ali) and fem perspective
paranormal (werewolf x vampyre)
touch her and you die
grumpy x mild sunshine
spice: 🌶️ (mild)
okay, continuing with my yapping, here's a more in depth review of what i loved and what i didn't love as much.
i loved misery and lowe and their interactions. i thought they were SO sweet together, except ali totally did them dirty with the names. really??? MISERY and LOWE????????????? the book was mostly in misery's perspective but we got snippets of lowe; my fav quotes were all from him. okay, quick rundown of good things:
as per usual, the sex is sexing and it is hot
the grovelling from lowe??? the PINING??? the PAIN???? UGH, ALI
misery is a smart, independent cookie whose backstory is so delicate and painful. i love her so much as a character
minor plot twists! i thought these were delightful
fast pacing. i gobbled this in one sitting
funny in that signature ali hazelwood way
things i think could have been better:
the book didn't focus much on lowe as much as i would've liked it to
the premise of their conflict was kinda........ just a little stupid. it wasn't really believable and i found myself frustrated with the characters
overall, LOVED it but couldn't bring myself to give it 5 stars. in my opinion, love, theoretically was a MILLION times better than this. i may be biased, because that's my favourite thing ali has ever written.
loved bride just as much as i did? try love, theoretically by ali hazelwood
need more paranormal romances! try a hunger like no other by kresley cole

My Top 30 Books of 2023
30. An Ember in the Ashes (#1) by Sabaa Tahir
Tumblr media
Such a terrific debut!!!! I loved it. From the moment Laia signed on to spy on the military academy, I was hooked. Premise was intriguing as heck, and Elias' mother was fascinating to me. Some small things I didn't love, however—I wished Laia had been more involved in the trials. Elias, the MMC, felt a bit weak of a character to me, and I wasn't a fan of Helene (I like her so much more in the sequel, though). The ending left the story at such an exciting place, and I was hankering for the next book.
29. Red Winter (#1) by Annette Marie
Tumblr media
We're at the midway point of my ranking, and from here on out it's books I mostly really enjoyed. Red Winter!! The first book!! When I read it, my mind was kinda blown because it felt like I was reading a very well-written novel spinoff of Kamisama Kiss/Inuyasha, and I loved both series as a child. Also, the illustrations in the novel are soooo good, and Shiro the MMC/fox is cute. ( ˘͈ ᵕ ˘͈♡) It was a solid book, and I had a blast, BUT— this is not the best Annette Marie has to offer. Nope. I will get to her magnum opus (for me)... eventually.
28. Check & Mate by Ali Hazelwood
Tumblr media
I shouldn't have spoken so soon about the midway point. This book… was very hard to rank. The beginning had me deliciously invested (and is what establishes such a high rank) but my interest languished the more the book progressed. I actually think people who like SJM may like this one because it's pretty much a power fantasy, but make it contemporary. Regardless, I did have a good time if I ignored the power fantasy elements. Sawyer was a great hero, and Mallory was nicely tortured, which is just how I like my heroines. :)
27. The Housemaid's Secret (The Housemaid #2) by Freida McFadden
Tumblr media
Ah, the sequel to the Housemaid! Not as good as the prequel, but still pretty good!!! I think the themes it covered didn't hit me as hard as the Housemaid did, but the story stayed with me longer than some of Freida's other works. Overall a solid sequel, but I don't think it could have really lived up to what the Housemaid did for me.
26. A Good Girl's Guide to Murder by Holly Jackson
Tumblr media
I'm not a huge fan of Jackson's writing style or the characterisation of Ravi and his brother, but the mystery was so good! I loved the themes it covered and the psyche of the victim.
This mystery is quite fleshed out and goes in depth about abuse, sexism, etc. I disliked the main leads, but enjoyed the case and the reveal. I was much more invested in the victim than I was in the person who was wrongly accused of murdering her, even though I think we were supposed to care for both?
Anyway, it's definitely a much more memorable thriller than the ones below the ranking of this list so far.
25. A Kiss of Iron by Clare Sager
Tumblr media
Another book that's kind of hard to rank for me. The romance was reaaaally good at the start, and then somewhere it kind of lost me?? But the story was interesting and I LOVED the plot twist (!!!!!) at the end, and the smut was one of my favourites. Also, the hero did something so sweet in the second half of the book. ♡ That aside, while this may be a fae book, I just don't think this is anything like how fae should be in my head. It doesn't feel like I'm reading fae at all.
24. If You Could See the Sun by Ann Liang
Tumblr media
AH, Henry, my beloved!!!!!! My first book of Ann Liang's, and it was so cute and Henry was just!!! Almost!!! Everything!! The Chinese rep also made me so happy!!! It depresses me that I couldn't love it as much as I wanted to because the story was riddled with issues towards the end but I loved the rest of it. This book walked so that the other book of Ann's could run! (We will see that other book along the list soon.)
23. Six of Crows (Six of Crows #1) by Leigh Bardugo
Tumblr media
If my friend saw this list, she'd go: "SoC, in 23rd place? DISOWNED". To that, I say…
Sowwieee.
I LOVE the Crows, but it's not this book that definitively sealed the deal about them to me. This is 100% my personal gripe because my brain hates setting-centric books and it was so hard for me to figure out the logistics behind the heist. But I loved the banter in this book, Kaz's brains, Inej’s badassery, and the revelation about Jesper being Grisha. Also Wylan, my baby. My love.
Ahhhhh, can't talk about the Crows or I'll start to melt. Make a TV show that ADAPTS THE ICE HEIST ALREADY.
22. City of Bones (Mortal Instruments #1) by Cassandra Clare
Tumblr media
OMG, it just occurred to me that if the same friend saw this being ranked above SoC, she's really going to have an aneurysm. 🤣
I'm not going to elaborate other than the fact that I had a fun and easy time with this book, even if it was far from perfect. It actually exceeded my (admittedly) very low expectations, lol. In any case, I've already written a more in-depth review of it.
21. One Dark Window by Rachel Gillig
Tumblr media
A really, really solid book. I loved the concept of magical cards in the worldbuilding. While it doesn't do anything groundbreaking, nor was I extremely invested in the leads, I consider this very well-done. I loved Elm, lol. However, I've yet to read the second book and I hope to get on it soon.
20. The Perfect Son by Freida McFadden
Tumblr media
I loved this thriller!!! But this is mostly because I am VERY partial to psychopathic boys written in the way Liam was—and at the same time, you realise: are real psychopaths that easy to spot? Is he really a psychopath, or is it someone else? This is probably one of my favourites from Freida, and the ending… made me so nervous, lol.
19. How the King of Elfhame Learned to Hate Stories by Holly Black
Tumblr media
A short novella written by Holly Black, with vignettes set in Cardan's POV as he grew up over the years. I fucking loved it to pieces, but that's just because I love Cardan 😛 I loved how the stories the hag told Cardan kept changing to fit his narrative, I loved seeing his perspective when Nicasa cheated on him with Locke, I loved hearing about how he felt towards Jude. Also: the last chapter, set after Queen of Nothing!! Him and Jude!!!!!! My heart!!!!!!! I will not elaborate except that it was fucking amazing. The only downside was that it was too short, and I could have done with MORE scenes.
18. Last of the Talons by Sophie Kim
Tumblr media
It's a novel that does very little wrong. Its only sin is that it's predictable and formulaic, but it was such a wholesome and at times swoony story because Rui (the goblin emperor) was lovely. While I didn't love Lina, the heroine, I thought the book was still fun, and THAT scene by the river was ( ◡‿◡ *). I'll be reading the sequel once it's out.
17. The Serpent and the Wings of Night by Carissa Broadbent
Tumblr media
I have so many conflicting feelings about this book. See, this is the book that got me into reading fantasy this year. For so long, I'd avoided fantasy, but after I finished this, I decided I'd give the rest of the genre a try. It literally rearranged my entire brain and opened something in me—it was sooooo good. The slow burn, the trials, the eventual consummation, the ending… I can't fault it. Almost every other fantasy book I've read has this one to thank (and Kingdom of the Wicked to blame because it almost made me boycott the genre, lol). However—the problem is that I've read it so long ago (at the start of the year) that I can't remember much, and also that the sequel bored me to tears and I still haven't finished that. If I ranked this earlier in the year, it might be much higher in the ranks.
16. Emily Wilde's Encyclopaedia of Faeries by Heather Fawcett
Tumblr media
This book!!!!!! It was so unexpected how much I enjoyed it. A lot of reviews were complaining about the verbiage and how nothing was really happening and I… went into it thinking I wouldn't like it, if I'm being honest. But I did!!!!!!!!!!! It portrayed fae similarly to the Folk of the Air series (The Cruel Prince), and instead of boring me like the Enchantment of Ravens did, I was HOOKED. I loved how it kept me on my toes, I loved how creepy some things were… and I thought Wendell was insane and so much fun (insane he might be, but you cannot deny his untouchable EQ). Also, Emily is such a dear. I must add that Reverse grumpy/sunshine is my FAVOURITE.  I could go on and on about this book. It's marvellous and I'm so desperate for the sequel. In fact, I think I'm going to do a reread of this book before the sequel comes out. 🙂
15. Delivering Evil for Experts (Guild Codex: Demonized #4) by Annette Marie
Tumblr media
OMG, OMG… We have finally reached the Guild Codex: Demonized series.
(*ノдノ)
Now THIS series is, as far as I'm concerned, Annette's magnum opus. Not Red Winter. THIS. Don't mock the goofy-ass cover—it's a GEM UNDERNEATH! IT'S AMONG MY FAVOURITE BOOKS OF ALL TIME. It's one of the holy trinity series (yes, that's what I'm dubbing those three series) that broke my brain this year. This action series is about a girl (Robin) who makes a contract with a demon, Zylas, where he has to protect her in exchange for... her baking cookies for him. 🤣 It sounds ridiculous, but I promise it all makes sense when you read it. Unfortunately, this is the last book, which was my least favourite of the series because the tension had started to ebb for me. BUT. It's still so, so good. The ending was initially gearing up to be a tragedy but ahhh!! I am content with how it ended.
14. City of Ashes (Mortal Instruments #2) by Cassandra Clare
Tumblr media
Never would I have thought this book would be higher than one of the books from Guild Codex: Demonized but I really, unexpectedly enjoyed City of Ashes. It was better than the first; I thought it was a solid and frankly speaking great book. I did hear, however, that the first 3 books in this series are actually decent before the rest nose-dives in quality, which explains why I enjoyed the first 2 so much. (I've already written a full review on this book.)
13. The Queen of Nothing (Folk of the Air #3) by Holly Black
Tumblr media
We have finally reached the Cruel Prince series. *hyperventilates*
Okay. Okay.
So.
The last book is my least favourite of the trilogy, but… it is also the culmination of Jude and Cardan's relationship. We have "By you, I am forever undone" here. (There's even more quotes, technically, but I'm trying to keep this succinct.) It is legendary. It is magnificent. It is immaculate. Overall, the plot in this book may be my least favourite, but the payoff after two books of scheming and constant push and pull? Fucking chef's kiss.
12. The Only One Left by Riley Sager
Tumblr media
One of the best thrillers of 2023 for me. It is so, so, so good. I don't think I can stress how brilliant this book is. Story revolves around a mute, sick old lady wheelchair-bound inside a gothic manor on a cliff. The main character is sent to be her caretaker. And the old lady has a story to tell—she was accused of murdering her entire family in her youth. Very atmospheric and chilling read.
See, I expected the first plot twist but the SECOND? Wowza. Magnifique. Also such a sad, tragic tale. It felt me reeling for a good bit after I was done. It deserved to win the 2023 GR awards and NOT Housemaid's Secret. It's not even close to me.
11. The Housemaid by Freida McFadden
Tumblr media
This book. This fucking book.
It broke me out of a reading slump at the start of the year but that's not why it's left such an indelible mark on my brain. The way this story covers infidelity and abuse… Wow. Exquisite. And the way the tables turn at the end is so good it's ILLEGAL.
In fact, I think the theme here just hit closer to home for me than The Only One Left, even though the writing of the latter is definitely superior. This is my first book of Freida's and is, to me, her best work.
10. The Maid's Diary by Loreth Anne White
Tumblr media
[Takes deep breath] This story was so unexpected for me. I wasn't expecting to like it. At all. It was supposed to be a palate cleanser.
A palate cleanser, I thought! HA!
This wasn't perfect. There were plot holes. Some things weren't wrapped up. BUT. BUT. BUT. It is the best thriller I read this year and I stand by that. I have never, ever felt more vindicated by a book than I did this one. It is a work of art.
One line to sum this story up? I SUPPORT WOMEN'S WRONGS. That’s it. That's all you need to know. (That said: Full review has been written)
9. Hunting Fiends for the Ill-Equipped (Guild Codex: Demonized #3) by Annette Marie
Tumblr media
We are in the top ten now. Gird your loins!
This book!!!!!! Ahhhh. I can't even write this coherently, and I'm only at the ninth. But this was the book where the relationship between Zylas and Robin finally began to change!!!!!!! It was so divine, it was near perfect, it made me scream and want to tear my hair out—I can't. This was a slow-burn done right. It was just a little hint of what was to come, and yet… yet it short-circuited my brain. Also, I do not APPRECIATE the emotional turmoil Annette put me through with this one.
8. This Time It's Real by Ann Liang
Tumblr media
🥺 At this point, my writing is going to be incoherent. Because these are my absolute favourites. I'm crying. I'm seriously crying. This book was everything to me (even though a friend read it and she said the guy was too perfect for her liking and I get it. I really do. I agree. But... I loved it).
(;´༎ຶД༎ຶ`)
I have nothing coherent to say except I loved it. And that, much as I didn't want to admit it, this stupid book put me in a reading slump for 2 months. I found myself constantly trying to find books with similar tropes as this: celebrity/non-celebrity, Asian rep, cute swoony contemporary romance. I couldn't find anything that hit the same way.
7. The Cruel Prince (Folk of the Air #1) by Holly Black
Tumblr media
Do I need to say more? DO I?????????
I took a gamble buying the whole boxset before reading it and I thought I was fucked because usually that means I'm going to hate it. Fate isn't normally this kind to me. But my gamble paid off. It fucking paid off!
The prose, the political intrigue, my first venture into fae… Also, Jude's spite is low-key TOO relatable: “If I cannot be better than them, I will become so much worse.”
Talented, brilliant, incredible, amazing, show stopping, spectacular, never the same, totally unique, completely not ever been done before, unafraid to reference or not reference, put it in a blender, shit on it, vomit on it, eat it, give birth to it—
6. Love, Theoretically by Ali Hazelwood
Tumblr media
This, above Cruel Prince? Yes, it feels illegal, but here's why: Cruel Prince is only the first book. We don't get the payoff yet. In Love Theoretically, you get everything from start to finish. It's like a whole ass trilogy in one book.
And the slow-burn in the first half of this book is LEGENDARY. I was actually kicking my feet like a teenager. That in itself is monumental, because I'd stopped enjoying/reading contemporary romance for at least a year before this book came. I'd actually given up on the genre/demographic at some point… until this.
Jack is one of my favourite male leads to ever exist. And the themes the book covers with Elsie hits so close to home for me. It's not perfect, but belong to my top ten it does.
5. Slaying Monsters for the Feeble (Guild Codex: Demonized #2) by Annette Marie
Tumblr media
The top five books are really, really cutting it close, because this book is, in my opinion, near perfection. It's INSANE how Annette could carry the momentum from a perfect first book and make it just as exciting as the predecessor. The action scenes were phenomenal, and I loved the makeshift family between the three leads and the cat. Also Zylas' characterisation and the exploration of his psychopathy was so INCREDIBLE. I can go and on about this book forever. I still remember reading this on the toilet and going: "HOW IS THIS SO GOOD?"
IT'S A WORK OF ART.
4. The Wicked King (The Folk of the Air #2) by Holly Black
Tumblr media
The best book in the Cruel Prince series to me. The mind games, the scheming, Jude's machinations, the twists, the ENDING, I could scream. Jude is a force to be reckoned with. And the tension between her and Cardan? Sublime. Throughout the whole book, Jude has him under her control, but she knows time is ticking and he'll break free of the magic soon. The suspense and the push and pull is…
ლಠ益ಠლ)
Another work of fucking art. I only have so many adjectives to praise this bona fide masterpiece. But wait! I still have three more books.
3. The Stolen Heir by Holly Black
Tumblr media
So many people would stare me down for this. The Stolen Heir (the spin-off sequel) above Cruel Prince? YES. OKAY? YES.
I prefer Jude to Wren (who is arguably a bigger force to be reckoned with in her own right), but. OAK. Almost nobody liked him, but I did. I DID. It's fine; I will be his only fan. No biggie.
Oak was everything that I felt Cardan—whom I already loved—lacked in. Oak… Ah, Oak. I just have a soft spot for sweet sunshine characters who are also secret badasses. It's like Holly plucked out the archetype I like in men and created Oak (okay, I don't love the hooves but that's beside the point). I adored this book with my beating heart and I just don't think the sequel can live up to it.
(I just read the first chapter of the sequel and I'm already shaking. Please don't let me down. I've been burned by too many sequels at this point.)
2. Taming Demons for Beginners (Guild Codex: Demonized #1) by Annette Marie
Tumblr media
A masterpiece. That's what this first book is. Even the Stolen Heir and Wicked King had parts I didn't love, but this? It's *chef's kiss* from start to finish.
Every scene and exchange built towards a fantastic crescendo near the end when THAT contract was made. Gah. The delicate balance of comedy, tension and suspense was immaculate. And the magic in those scenes when Robin first stumbles upon Zylas inside the summoning circle is…
( ˘ ³˘)♥
I'm not going to pretend this book is a literary tour de force that's going to be analysed like Hunger Games is, or anywhere close to that. All I will say is that this was the first book that blew my socks off after my Cruel Prince-induced slump, and that says enough about it.
1. Crooked Kingdom (Six of Crows #2) by Leigh Bardugo
Tumblr media
Remember when I said the last book was easy to place? The first book was also easy to place. This took almost NO contemplation at all.
Here we have the final one of my holy trinity series, alongside Folk of the Air and Demonized.
Since it wasn't so setting-centric like the first book, this sequel shone for me. I don't… I can't… There are no words. Kaz is a male Jude, but even smarter and more traumatised. Every Crow is majorly fleshed out, and they all get some kind of closure at the end. (One also… ends, but never mind that one.) It's so cathartic I could fucking cry; I nearly did. Kaz and Inej are forever etched in a special corner of my heart. This is not a book that I can give justice to by writing one or two paragraphs about, so I won't. I've already written all my thoughts in my review. All I will say is that it deserves all the hype it gets.
In fact, it deserves more.

frank! what are your top 10 favorite games? and what is your Final Message to gamers worldwide?
I was planning on making a longer post about this a while back but never got around to it -- you've inspired me. (EDIT: still haven't gotten around to making a post about this. Maybe next week? My schedule's been really weird lately.)
In any case, given the nature of Frank's blogging, it's not really possible to talk about these things well. I'm not good at articulating what I like or dislike about games -- I tend to either love them for almost inarticulable reasons or don't like them for vague/poorly-articulated reasons. If I say a game is "deep," that doesn't mean I can articulate its depths.
On that basis, I should probably just list ten games I like and give you some hints as to what the reasons are. Then you can try to figure it out. (I'll list them in approximate order of preference. They're mostly PC games.)
(EDIT: I can at least say that the Final Message is likely to involve Plato, Steven Universe, Homestuck, and the Mona Lisa.)
EDIT 2: all right, here goes
In approximate order of preference, here are ten games that I really like:
Portal 2
Planescape: Torment
Thief
Spec Ops: The Line
Dark Souls (1 or 2, can't decide)
Between Two Worlds (an indie browser RPG)
Portal
Zelda: Ocarina of Time / Majora's Mask
Dragon Age: Origins
Pokemon Red / Blue
What these all have in common, besides "I like them," is that they have some kind of "twist." Not necessarily a surprise ending, though there's a lot of that in the list. It's more a sense of them each going off in a direction I wasn't expecting, either in a good or bad way.
Some examples:
Portal 2: I liked the first game, and liked the first couple of hours of the second, but the sudden shift into adventure game territory around halfway through was jarring. I was like "wait, I thought this game was an innovative action-puzzler -- why am I doing stuff like eating cupcakes, going into hidden compartments, etc. in an adventure gamey way?" But the game uses that stuff in service of its final twist, which is really interesting, so it's all good.
Planescape: Once I get to the torture dungeon, this game becomes more than just an old-school-D&D adaptation. The best part of it is that its twist, once you reach it, doesn't break the game; rather, it makes it more like a traditional D&D game. Everything you've done before, with all the complicated character creation and such, is part of the way you get to the twist -- you don't need to be a D&D fan to appreciate this twist, but it becomes really cool once you realize that D&D fans have been waiting years for the "your character truly dies and you create a new one" moment in a video game.
Thief: Basic premise: you're a guy who steals things in this huge castle. While the first couple of missions are done pretty conventionally, and the game does a good job of gradually building up its twist, the game's best moments are ones where the twist is used to full effect. In particular, there's a moment where a character who has been taken hostage gives you a key that lets you free them, but only if you promise not to kill them. You want to kill them -- they betrayed you, you're the hero, you have to get revenge. But if you do, you'll be stuck without the key, and won't be able to get that extra experience point. And the extra experience points matter a lot, because the twist in this game is that (1) you have to get a lot of experience to progress, and (2) you actually want to get a lot of experience, because it lets you replay each mission on new difficulty levels.

Little drabble about Halloween night with @glynmostyn
Theo was running along the rooftop edges, jumping from one ledge to a pipe along a nearby wall. He climbed up and then ran along a window ledge to get to the next building, where he leapt onto a fire escape. Being Halloween, he was doing everything in a Robin costume he'd thrown together, mostly for his own entertainment. Although he wasn't a huge fan of the cape, he found it could be a hindrance at times depending how he twisted or it fluttered around him.
He was having the time of his life all the same, in one of his elements as Luke let him parkour around the city for his birthday. Although the older man stayed close, keeping an eye on the boy and ready to catch him at any hint of falling or missing his mark.
He liked getting the practice in, even if this wasn't Gotham, and he wasn't out to fight anyone. Keeping his reactions quick was always a good thing, he'd been told. Didn't want to take too long of a break and get sloppy. Last thing he needed was to return home and immediately mess up and get hurt or worse. Not that if he died it would be his problem anymore.
Few hours of jumping, running, climbing, sliding, and he was well worn out, his red hair matted to his forehead from sweat as he made his way down onto the ground. Safe and secure under his feet.
He was panting slightly as he looked over at Luke who had made his way over to him, smiling wide.
"thanks so much for letting me do that, Luke! I know Dwayne finds it dangerous but it's so fun and.." as he spoke, he walked with Luke, spinning around as his hands wildly moved with his mouth.
Luke stopped for the crosswalk as it glowed red, Theo's back to it as he was walking backwards talking. Being told to stop, Theo turned slightly, foot slipping off the curb. His current position and momentum made it hard to stop properly and down he went. His hand went out, arm getting scraped on the asphalt from the fall, complete with the sound of a crack and lightning hot heat shooting up his leg.
For a second he thought he heard Luke swear, or... Half swear. Some strange word, caught and changed halfway out, left his mouth all the same but all Theo knew for sure was that they would both have a lot to explain to Dwayne when they got home, and that he would need to be carried the whole way there.
Some way to end his birthday: breaking his ankle.

hiiii can i request a scenario or headcanons where gin is visting his female s/o house for the first time (╯✧▽✧)╯she didn’t invite him before cause she thought her room full of posted of pop singers and kpop idols is kinda embarrassing for example shsjkshsb for some more details, s/o has a roomate and how would she react when she see gintoki irl after gin’s s/o told her all the stories how gintoki „incredible” is HAKSKSHSJKS thank u sm have a nice day/evening !!
First of all, I felt that because I too am a huge kpop fan. Believe it or not, I never let my friends into my room growing up because of how many kpop and non kpop posters I had. Anyways, this request is so particular and I love it! Will do it half scenario/half headcanon kinda way because why not.
Gintoki finding out about his S.O.'s kpop obsession/ meeting her roommate for the first time Headacanons (sort of, not quite)
Tumblr media
(insert gin blushing because he's cute)
Warning: SFW mostly, slight usage of sexual innuendos but pretty tame stuff.
"Gin, before we go in there is something I have to tell you about my apartment." Pausing right before you opened the door, you turned to face him.
It had been months since the two of you had become official, yet in all these months of dating the silver haired man, you'd never let him enter your apartment. You had been so cryptic and vague about the place you lived, to the point of not letting him even walk you to the door. Most of the time, you'd insist that he dropped you off near the block, not risking it in the slightest. Although Gintoki was puzzled by your behavior, he went along with it, occasionally making a joke or two about you hiding something, but he didn't press on. Despite that, you knew that you couldn't keep such a secret hidden, you had to come clean.
"Don't tell me- Y/N, you are a serial killer after all? Are you going to kill me? Chop me into little pieces, stuff me in garbage bags and then scatter me throughout Edo so that no one can ever piece me back together?" Gintoki was shivering in a half comedic half serious way. If only you were a serial killer, perhaps that'd be for the best you thought, as you twisted the key through the keyhole.
"That is oddly specific, why do you even watch crime shows when you can't handle them?" Sighing, you took a step in, taking your shoes off while he stared at you horrified. "Come in, I'm not a serial killer."
"That's exactly what a serial killer would say. Oh, look at the time, Y/N, I think I should go. Sadaharu needs to go on a walk, can't trust Kagura with it. You understand right? Okay then, see you tomorrow! " He was about to leave as you reached your hand to him, tugging your fingers around the hem of his shirt. Being left with no choice, Gintoki stopped walking as he turned around to face you.
"Just come in." Sighing, he took a step forward, leaving his boots on the door as he entered your apartment. You watched as Gintoki paraded through the house, inspecting the area as if he expected to find corpses lying around. Once he realized he was safe, he let out a sigh, evidently relieved at the lack of dead bodies. Still, the worst had yet to come.
Eventually, you made your way to your room's door, finding yourself hesitating to turn the knob. Once you went past that door, there was no going back and you knew it.
"Oi, Y/N. Why are you acting like that? Your house looks completely normal, in fact, I should just move here myself. Much better than having to pay rent to that old hag every single month."
"Gin. No matter what you see, promise me not to scream." You said in a hushed tone, trying your best to calm your nerves. There was no way he'd insist that he moves in with you once he saw what lied past the door. Still, you couldn't fool him anymore.
Turning the door knob, you found yourself standing in the middle of your room while Gintoki hesitantly took his first in. You couldn't bear to see his reaction and so you turned your back on him, awkwardly staring outside the window.
"Y/N... Don't tell me this is why you didn't let me in your room." Could it be that, he understood? He wasn't weirded out? "My, what a collection. I could have never guessed you were also into Otsu. Has Shinpachi recruited you behind my back?"
"What? No! This is Jisoo in the Stay era, how could you confuse her with Otsu-" Shit. You had actually fallen for that. "I mean..." There is no point hiding it anymore. Sighing, you turned around to face Gintoki whose lips had curled to a smug smile. You couldn't bear to look at him but pretending as if you hadn't let him in your kpop den wouldn't do anymore. "Yes, I like kpop okay? I stan Blackpink, I'm dying to go to that Stray Kids concert and don't you dare compare Jisoo to Otsu again!"
For a second, Gintoki blinked, taken aback by your sudden outburst. You weren't really the type to yell at him, but when it came to your kpop obsession, there was no holding back.
For as long as you could remember yourself, you had been an avid kpop fan; from SHINee and SNSD, to EXO and BTS, you had dedicated your entire life to supporting your favorites. To you, they weren't just musical preferences, they were your lifestyle and your room represented that. Posters of your biases covered all four walls, while different memorabilia and merch could be found in each corner of your room. Although you weren't ashamed of it, you were scared of Gintoki's reaction, especially when you considered how much he meant to you. You were afraid that once he knew, he'd walk away from you, unable to love someone with such an obsessive way of living.
"Okay, okay, I understand... Jisoo huh... she's quite pretty. Do you think she is seeing someone?" Shooting him a nasty look, you watched Gintoki as he kept walking around the room, looking at each of your posters as if he was in an art gallery. "Oh? This guy has silver hair too! What do you think Y/N? Who is hotter huh? Huh?" Gintoki stood right next to your poster of Jimin, imitating his pose. So, he wasn't weirded out after all? Allowing yourself to relax, you couldn't help but break into laughter, watching him mimic Jimin.
"You... perhaps I can say that you are at least comparable to him." You said while laughing. Gintoki rolled his eyes at your comment, making his way towards your bed. Falling down on top of it, he let his legs dangle while he brought one arm behind his head, using it as a pillow.
"Comparable?" He scoffed. "Don't be ridiculous. Just because he has straight hair, it doesn't mean a thing." Shifting his lips into pout, Gintoki acted as if you had insulted him.
"I'm sorry, okay! You... you are prettier than Jimin." You said biting your lips into a straight line. I mean, it wasn't a lie, right? Plus, Jimin couldn't really hear you, right?
Gintoki seemed to perk up at your comment, sitting up on the bed, while his hands moved behind his butt, as if he was searching for something. Pulling the object with great force, the both of you looked at the Chimmy doll in Gin's hands, and then back at each other in surprise.
"This is Chimmy." You said in your calmest tone, trying your best not to laugh again. Taking a step closer to him, you grabbed Chimmy from his hands, placing him back onto your pillow where he belonged.
"Chimmy..." Gintoki repeated, scratching the back of his head as he looked at the doll, a faint smile appearing on his lips as he did. Taking a seat next to him on the bed, you chukled at his reaction. Even when he didn't quite understand your interests, you were happy that he hadn't completely shamed you about them.
"Say, Y/N, can I borrow your skirt for- Oh? Who is this?" Said happiness came to an end, when the door to your room went wide open. Goddamn it. Goddamn it! Here was the main reason as to why you didn't want Gintoki to visit your house in the first place; your roommate. Although she was a kind person and one of your most favorite people in the world, she was also someone who talked a lot, someone who knew a lot. You had told her all about Gintoki, not sparing any detail when it came to your relationship, from what he was like on the first date to what he was like in bed.
"Sakata Gintoki, I'm Y/N's boyfriend. You might know me as Yorozuya Gin too." Gintoki introduced himself, moving to the door to shake your roommate's hand. " Y/N, you never told me you had a roommate."
"She didn't? That's so surprising, considering I've heard all about the 'Incredible Gin' " She went on, a sneer on her face as she looked at you. If only there was a way to disappear off the face of the earth right now...
"Incredible Gin? Is that a superhero?"
"Nah, that's simply the way Y/N calls you because of your big-" Interrupting your words, you threw Chimmy her way, hitting her forehead as she stumbled. The two of them looked at you in surprise, both unable to hide their own smirks that were only widening. Goddamn it, you knew that them running into each other was bound to cause this.
"Ah, didn't you say you wanted to borrow my skirt? Go back to your room, I'll bring it to you there." Ushering to leave, you jumped on your feet, pushing her past the doorframe.
"But, I haven't even gotten the chance to talk to Gi-"
"You''ll talk to him another time, now go!" Forcing her out of your room, you closed the door behind her, resting your back against the hard wood. That was a close one.
"She seems nice." Gintoki exclaimed, walking back towards your bed. Sighing, you felt relief rush through you. He mustn't have heard. "But tell me, Y/N. What kind of big thing was she talking about, huh?" His features had shifted to a rather smug expression, his maroon eyes clouded by lust and amusement as he looked back at you. Although he was looking at you like that, you could spot a wild blush growing on his cheeks, making you blush in return. Reaching Chimmy who was lying on the floor, you tossed the doll onto Gintoki who caught it mid-air, bursting into laughter. So much for keeping your obsession and your roomate a secret.
Okay so this is how I'd imagine the whole thing to go, from finding out about her kpop obsession, to how he'd meet her roomate. Before I end this post, I'd like to add a few headcanons regarding how he'd react after finding out, in general.
Although he wouldn't make it into a huge deal at first, Gintoki would be relentless with his teasing later on. He'd call his S.O. a koreeaboo and would "bully" her on a daily occasion.
However, all of his teasing would help her open up about her interests, making it easier for her to talk about it and not keep it all in, which is a positive thing after all!
Could get her to debate idol supremacy with Shinpachi, finding amusmenet in how sternly she talked about her biases.
Despite teasing her, he'd find her passion endearing and would ask her more about it, letting her introduce him to the world of kpop even if he didn't participate. He'd be particular about girl bands, secretly admiring the idols and could even go as far as to get a bias of his own, although he wouldn't admit it too often.
If he wasn't too broke, he could even buy you concert tickets or at the very least merch from the bands you liked.
Overall supportive, although quite the asshole about it at first.
When it comes to the roommate now, that's something he'd also tease his partner about, especially when having sex with her. Would go around calling himself Incredible Gin, completely embarrassing her and making her regret ever taking him to her house.
He'd be quite cheeky about it and would bring it up quite often when the two of you were alone. Still, he really enjoyed that you had called him that and that's precisely why he wouldn't let it die down.
If you let him visit you again, your roommate and him are surely going to click well and could team up against you, something rather dreadful. You'd be happy that one of your best friends got along so well with your boyfriend, but keeping them in the same room is not a wise decision.
Hopefully this was what you had in mind! Had fun thinking about different aspects of this and ultimately I ended up saying a lot, as always. Have a nice day/evening as well, anon!

As per the tags in that one post, I was a huge CSI fan when I was a kid. Like not even a teenager kid, like an eight or nine or ten year old kid. Even before I was fully manic depressive I had a morbid fascination with death (ever since I found a dead rat by my porch when I was three) and was fascinated by blood and gory things (one time in first grade I drew a monster with blood dripping from its fangs and my teacher snapped at me that that wasn't appropriate so feeling guilty I drew a lipstick tube in the monster's hand).
Whenever I was play acting, either alone or with my friends, my character would always die a gruesome death (usually by being stabbed in the gut and bleeding out tragically), laying down on the sidelines until I got bored with being dead and told my friends I wanted to be revived. This happened so often that eventually my friends would start the game by flat out telling me I wasn't allowed to die, and thus my morbid creativity was stifled yet again. I have no idea why I was like this, as I wasn't allowed to watch horror movies as a kid, but now that I'm thinking about it my family is big on historical fantasy where people are always getting run thru with swords so I guess that was where I got it.
Anyway, since I had a fascination with death and blood and dying gruesomely as a kid, CSI was my jam. At first I caught the reruns on Spike TV after watching Star Trek TNG and DS9 on there, and when I realized I could watch new episodes on CBS I would beg to stay up late on CSI night. Despite the ban on horror, my parents saw absolutely no problem with this, maybe because my mother would also end up invested in the show.
Anyway, even years before I learned the word "copaganda" and its meaning I eventually grew out of the habit of watching, partly because I was heavily invested in the Grillows ship and couldn't stand the Grissom/Sara endgame, and mostly because I began to find it repetitive and the plot twists they would introduce to shake things up a bit just seemed ridiculous to me, and I stopped watching years before it went off air, and I have no intention of watching the relaunch.

I promised on twitter to give a review of movie red with a focus on FRobin.
Sadly there is not much to say about the movie FRobin-wise. So, I'll try to give an overall impression about the movie without giving (hopefully) any spoilers!
Film RED Review!
As said, there is not much FRobin in the movie, Franky and Robin stand beside each other once. But there were many scenes that were only short and so hard to analyse.
But compared to that there wasn't any shipable scenes for Robin at all! At least if you don't count the fact that she seemed to hang around Brook a lot (which honestly is in this whole debate a highly underestimated contender!!).
What I really enjoyed was the soundtrack! I'm normally not a fan of songs that I don't understand but "Film Red" has an amazing soundtrack and I don't mean the songs by Uta (Ado) but the overall motifs!
Some felt so familiar and I can't put my finger on and I can't recall the songs (my brain is more one for remembering stories than melodies).
Either way it was great because it really underlined the overall athmospheres of the scenes.
THIS IS NOT A MUSICAL! There is a lot of music but it's not a muscial!
Some things seemed illogical. There were a couple of scenes that made me think "excuse me? Who would act like that in that situation?" but compared to some other movies it was very linear and logical.
I heard before that the Strawhat crew is not as present in the movie but honestly, it felt better than some others. They all had the same amount of screentime, sticking together as a crew.
I liked that because in some movies you only get focus on a few characters and others are put on the backburner. So maybe the Strawhats overall weren't around as much (also because of the flashbacks to the story of Luffy and Uta) but it didn't feel like it! They all got to fight, they all got lines and they all worked together!
That is a HUGE plus in my book.
Which reminds me: I love Brook and good for him! Lmao
Anyway another point about this movie is something that might change the idea for some but... both Yasopp and Shanks still get the "Worst Dad" award.
Really... what the heck? XD I was not expecting THAT but yeah not going to say much more about it...
BUT SERIOUSLY?! ESPECIALLY NOT WITH THE SCENE SHORTLY BEFORE THAT?!
I WANT TO SAY THINGS! I CAN'T WITHOUT SPOILING STUFF. So I won't. God Damn It! XD
But! If you are a fan of Shanks, there will be at least two scenes where we get a full look onto his chest so look forward to that.
Also we saw a bit more of Shanks crew and how strong they are. Fascinating!
Another thing to look forward to are the second outfits for Coby and Helmeppo. I haven't seen a lot because the animation was very fast but what I saw looked really good!
One thing that got clear to me and that very fast was one plot twist. The second plot twist not so much... mostly because I hoped that would never be a plot twist in One Piece XD (I should have finished my fanfiction years ago gdi!)
But again, it was well done. Except that the whole thing could have been easily avoided xDDDD God, stupid idiots!
Special mention that Momonga was part of the movie. I love him. Also holy shit Borsalino you crazy mofo! Issho could have done more too... overall did the Marines not shine... except Coby and Helmeppo! Also Blueno, suprisingly!
The BM Pirates that were there also did a good job! I despise Big Mom and her crew but the family-love the siblings have is really cute. Can't deny that. I had a couple of good laughs too!
Now on another note... the underlying theme overall is... like... serious. There are very serious undertones in the movie I won't get into right now because again that would be spoilers. But yeah... after the movie one girl said she almost cried and while I wasn't even near to crying I can understand if that movie touches you.
Last thing! I also now know what is up with this little guy and how Franky reacted to him:
Tumblr media
Not really but also kinda what I expected. XD
Anyway let's give it two more months and I'll go deeper into the analysis if you want to hear it!
Everyone who still looks forward to see the movie! Have fun!

Hello it's me again 😀! I just finished reading your danganronpa au on ao3 and it absolutely brought me back to my dr phase (So nostalgic really, and I was such a huge fan of dr). I remembered that in the dr fan book, they had unused executions for some of the characters. I'll send some here in case you didn't watch it or know about it:
Danganronpa 1
Super Danganronpa 2
Danganronpa V3
Now onto my question, do you perhaps have any unused executions for the twst boys 👀? Or alternate execution perhaps?
Anyways love your works 😊
To be honest, I discovered Twisted Wonderland when I was in my Danganropa phase... Azul was the first one who got me in twst so I saw it fit for him to be a protagonist(Dr au is basically me hinting on my origins in the twst fandom) :'3
The unused executions concepts for Dr games were really smart, but the cannon executions(as the concept/unused executions Don't really count to me as cannon of the story/game itself) were also really well portrayed...
And yes! I have 2 unused executions :'3
Under the cut, cuz it will be some gore and it's Dr executions after all :3
Also smol spoilers for my Dr au series!
Casino betting
This was supposed to be Ace's execution. Back in case 4, Ace and Kalim were my candidates for a blackened. But since Jamil was chosen, I had to scrap it.
The execution was supposed to have Ace on a pocket of a roulette, having to bet on which pocket the gigantic ball will fall onto. In the end, Ace guessed right as the ball fell into a pocket next to his. But the thing was that it set a trap, which made Ace to fall through a Chandelier that crashed on a normal sized roulette table, scaring the gambling monokumas for a bit, before they returned to their match.
The Final punishment
This is a proper execution for the Mastermind, Silver, but it was scrapped because Azul ended up making the said execution when he destroyed the dream world...
Being the Mastermind, Silver had to go through a mix of 'wannabe punishments' that were meant for the victims of each case. First, getting cut and hit by books covered in thorns(Malleus), pinned to a wall by arrows (Rook), the room getting filled with bullets and explosives while poison dwelled at the bottom (Riddle and Floyd), a hallucinating gas being released(his supposed to be death), and finally different carving tools falling(epel), one of them cutting the trigger and activating the whole domino of explosions. For the finale, his crown will fly out of the execution place, falling in Azul's hands(the one who wasn't supposed to be here, hence he had no execution prepared).
For the others I didn't really think about it, mostly cuz i had a sketch of how all cases should play out :'3
