Because somehow, Aang finding a way to painlessly deprive the Fire Lord of his bending is "permanently disabling someone".

It's not like Amon used bloodbending to do the exact same thing to his victims, right?

So her supper cool and badass avatar, who we are told is supposed to not like violence, would rather use the most violent methods available instead of just learning to use Chi Blocking.

A method that literally disarms people temporarily, and has been shown to be more like a "taser" than blood bending.

Blood bending is more like bringing mustard gas to a knife fight.

As for energy bending being a "permanent disability", well... She's not totally wrong. Removing someone's bending is taking a part of themselves away. Like, imagine living with the ability to do something your whole life, only to have it take away?

You can still survive without it, it would just be an adjustment and should really only be used in extreme cases.

But regardless, you still don't need Chi Bending OR Energy bending to restrain or disable someone's bending. Like, just put them in a stone cage or freeze their bodies or, I don't know, use water bending to act as a rope restraint? There are a thousand ways you could restrain someone in a rather inventive way if you try hard enough.

(This of course applies only to normal circumstances, and not extreme ones like Aang had to deal with.)

Heck, we've seen it done in the show plenty of times. Blood bending is just lazy.

Didn't lily write a post somewhere warning people to stay away from cameron? That and the fact that the nicest thing I've seen her say about him was "at least he doesn't misgender in front of his kids (and he let's me have access to them)" it makes any sort of "alliance" they have with each other look very sus and like worse people

Our grandfather and his oldest daughter are claimed by The Nation as our grandfather on our mothers side has Sauk/Fox/Haudenosaunee roots that Lily, Cameron and I were not raised with.

We were raised Newfoundlander as most of our family is tied deeply with the provinces history.

Lily since her becoming noticed on the internet has been claiming a cherokee identity that is not hers. She also refuses to actually connect with our grandfathers roots through The Nation or our aunt who will not speak to her.

She waited untill our grandfather was dead to start making these claims as well, because she knows damn well the man would have still tried to put her through a wall for her blatant disrespect.

So as long as she continues to be an appropriating colonizing white piece of shit hiding behind a stolen cherokee identity? shes not native.

that's my assumption as well. it's the only thing that makes since because this quickly succession of incest content came out right after Courtney started talking. the incest thing was always a thing with LO, but with Courtney being there to talk about its own experience it's absolutely unavoidable.

Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if the reason she's going so hard on the incest, is because it's the only "comfort" she's got going for her. She used to be slightly better at hiding it, but now with how brazen she is about it, it feels like she's clutching to it like a security blanket. I think it's wild that one of the way Lily is trying to make fun of Sai is to say she's complaining about the WRONG FIC. Like literally, she made a chart and her whole ramble was basically "Of all the fics she's calling incest, she picked THIS one and not the ones that are worse." She's not even hiding it at this point.

... is she even trying to hide it? i think that is a warranted question at this point. i think she's really grabbing that comforting incest blanket for all of it's worth to the point she does not care how people are going to see it. that's the only thing that it makes sense to me. plus, LO, honestly... if your biggest defense to any critique is "heh, i have done that so much worse and so much more blatantly in other works", then that is not really any defense. it just means that even when you're not really trying to be as obvious and blatant about it, your writing still comes across as weird and fetishy for normal people. if you truly didn't intended that, that should be your wake up call to do something about it.

this is literally the entire basis for stockholm btw. every single character shows their "love" for their partner by enabling them on the worst ways possible and if they don't, they get punished in such a way that the narrative treats as fair or not a big deal.

I think it says a lot about Lily that she apparently thinks that the best solution to any conflict is to completely violate the boundaries of the opposition and rob them of their free will. Like “everything would be fine if you just did exactly what I want” is straight up how most abusers think.

Okay, I'm overthinking this clearly throw away line that doesn't mean anything, and is just an excuse to imply how "cool" and "edgy" the avatar is, while also giving her the "misunderstood" label.

The fic really is just an excuse for meaningless flirting, and if the two weren't RELATED BY BLOOD, it would just read as a typical, slice of life, cutesy couple interaction.

Honestly, Its biggest sin (if you try really, really hard to pretend the obvious incest doesn't exist), is just being...okay? It's a bit boring, and requires you to actually...care about two rather bland people that we know nothing about and their relationship.

This short fic honestly doesn't make me want to know more about these two, and it makes me wildly uncomfortable.

i was thinking of that as well. why would bloodbending be your first thought on that scenario, or any scenario really, when you have all the elements to do practically anything you want? if it's about subdue someone, keeping them out of harm's way or even catch them after a fall, you can do so many things that never once have to include bloodbending. it truly feels like the only thing LO wanted was to have the cool edgy dark powers of this universe and still be treated like a hero for it. so basically it's just alina with a different font.

well i mean i can imagine using blood bending to, let's say, save someone from falling off the cliff by grabbing them and slowly bending them to the ground like a drop of water. Yeah it'll be painful and technically violates person's autonomy but it's still better than death

The different question is however, why would you use it instead of other bending styles when you're a freaking avatar? More than that you can use blood bending only on a full moon so?

That would be a really specific case. Like, all the stars align once in a billion years kind of deal. I just can't imagine it ever happening, if only because blood bending requires a full moon to even work.

But yeah, regardless of the semantics, Niva is the freaking AVATAR. She has all 4 elements at her disposal. Air can make someone fall slower or catch them. Earth can push people away or drag them towards you, it can even stop peoples movements. The same applies to water, which has the bonus of being able to heal.

And intimidation? How about good old fire? Fire also doubles as a great way to entertain people with its beautiful intensity.

Using blood bending at all is just be lazy, and kind of implies the avatar is unstable.

For the "Elf Torture"... I'm not going to lie that as an adult for a few years, I've been watching and reading NSFW stuff, but mostly drawn/animated because I prefer. And, one common tropes in fantasy porn, is the elf being a toy and often just being tortured and I'm sure it's is own porn category. You often see it with orcs and it's a popular genre in hentai...

It is really the explanation? I don't know. But to have followed those blogs for some times (hell, I think I saw them being created back then), but with what we discovered about Lily, I wouldn't be surprised she is talking about a porn tropes.

I did theorize way back then that Stockholm, and its spinoff, was just badly written hentai. The tropes were there, and a lot of the weirdness could be explained with that.

People bring Carousel into things sometimes because the circumstances between her and Lily are so strange (I know I've certainly side eyed Lily a few times over that situation even, I'll admit to being curious at times) and it's such a blank spot where it's clear something happened but I don't ever ask around about it because she's implied she doesn't want to think about that time of her life any more. Plus she and her fiancee seem happy together, she has a lot of friends and Lily stopped trying to throw her under the bus the second Courtney came along so I think she deserves to take the get out of jail free card and enjoy her happiness. (sucks she got suspended from Twitter for calling out a pedo though, she's actually a lot of fun and very nice to interact with, always super nice to her art fans I hope she gets it back)

why does LO only know how to write 2 types of stories?

1) a story where the main character is abusive (Aliana of TSR) or predatory (Rainbow Dash of Stockholm) but has this behaviour basically ignored, living their life with their victims (Rey and Scootaloo).

or

2) a story involving two extremely codependent (almost incestous) sisters who both like women and who may be mistaken for “being gay for each other” e.g the new avatar fanfic and the one with the mute sister.

is she just that bad of a writer that she is unable to explore different stories or are these her biggest fantasies?

they're both wish fulfillment. LO wished that she had a partner that would forgive her for any horrible action she does without doing anything to take accountability, where she gets to be adored and pampered without question, and the second one is basically the same thing but with a slightly different font.
