I’ve said the same thing in a lot more words before. You want the Warners to be in-character?
They are smart but not logical. They are wise but immature. They are refined but chaotic. And they are well-meaning but mischievous.
These are the things that make them extremely flexible characters, as well as interesting, endearing, and cute. They’re kids who aren’t kids and adults who aren’t adults.

Yax, the How and Why:
Part 1: Why do people ship them?
Decided it was time I put together all my thoughts about why I think Yax works particularly well as a ship, and what they all bring to the table.
There's a lot to talk about here, and I'm going to try and hit at least all my big points. I'm also going to be looking at them from the standpoint of Goof Troop, and A Goofy movie, as well as the Og Animaniacs and reboot, Wakkos Wish, (even though that's out of universe for animaniacs) comics, and even the toys.
This is about to get really long, so I'll put it under a read more.
From a personality standpoint, they compliment each other's strengths and weaknesses so well.
Max is earnest and honest. He always has been.
From Goof troop where he wants so badly to do good things, and goes immediately to an adult when he messes up, to A Goofy Movie, where he goes so far to impress the people around him, to his want to do a good job in House of mouse. It's a constant whenever we see him on screen.
Max has seen a lot of growth through his shows and movies, but he's also been consistent. Goofy has clearly done an incredible job raising Max. Max is pretty open about his emotions. He doesn't hide them from his friends or family. There's a level of vulnerability that comes from that, and despite being bullied and picked on, he knows who he is, it only become a matter of insecurity getting other people to see that.
In A Goofy Movie, he doesn't worry about being good enough for roxanne. He says with conviction that "after today, she'll be mine". He doesn't doubt his own abilities. He's confident in what he does, and what he knows he's good at, like skateboarding.
Max is dramatic, he's flamboyant and a show off. He has made himself the center of attention on purpose before; as long as it's something he's well versed in and is confident he can impress with, he thrives. He loves to have that positive attention from big crowds. It pushes him forward.
He is also, and this is very important, a troublemaker.
He always has been, and not just in a well meaning sense.
In Goof Troop, he shows that he's the scheming type, he's the type to cause problems on purpose, just because it's fun. It's often the problem or the solution to several episodes.
Just like the Warners.
Now, these are never super harmful, he's a good kid at his core. He's kind and patient and understands his mistakes, but he's an absolute menace. He would have no trouble fitting in with patented Warner antics.
This next point is talked about a lot.
Max's issues and insecurities make for a fantastic story of growth with Yakko and his siblings. He's worried about being laughed at, at people hearing his laugh (something that is the best part of individuals and their expression of self) and worries about what other people think of it. This issue of his hits against Yakko's need to make people laugh.
They're complimentary. They're foils to each other.
Yakko is similar, but because of how he grew up, and the role he was forced into, he mirrors Max's traits as well.
Yakko is sarcastic, he undercuts a lot of sincerity with humor or hides it behind a veil of snark. He hides his feelings for fear of backlash. Unlike Max, who has his emotions on his sleeve, and has been encouraged to feel them openly from a young age.
Yakko's not able to be so open emotionally, because doing so has gotten both him and his siblings hurt.
Yakko is smart. He's tactical where Max is emotional. He schemes as well, as the spearhead and leader of the zany trio, but he sees more angles than Max does.
He does it out of self preservation in ADDITION to doing it to be a menace and for fun. He's the mastermind of the group, just like Max is to his own group. They're both the snarky personas. Yakko wants, NEEDS to make people laugh, his self worth is tied to it, it's what he was made to do. It's a source of anxiety for him, but also a source of joy. We've seen several instances of moments where Yakko falls back on his "Nations of the World" song, because he wants to make a good impression. We also have evidence of him stressing about his ability to perform in his sleep.
Being able to tell exactly how others are feeling helps Yakko pivot his plans and react in line to the antagonist. He has a hard time being sincere sometimes, prefers to keep himself protected.
But he also craves attention. Loves to be at the center of it, loves it more when it's something he's passionate in or prides himself with.
His jokes, his wit, his singing. His ability to sing and speak tongue twisters that nobody else can. All things he's confident in.
Yakko's strengths lie more in his mind, as opposed to Max's physical capabilities.
Together, they create a dynamic duo of mischief, being people with similar senses of humor, (we have seen both Yakko and Max tell almost identical jokes)they make each other laugh.
With strong senses of justice, they both aren't afraid to bring out the schemes on "special friends", or on people who deserve it; we see that a lot in Goof Troop.
Max is used to havoc. He's closely acquainted with it, he's been doing Goof Luck damage control since he was a small child, constantly being pushed to take the wheel of his dad's mishaps, sometimes very literally.
He would fit in seamlessly to the Warner's adventures, egg them on or do damage control. He's perfectly suited to fill in the space where he's needed, like a liquid changing shape to its container.
They're two sides of the same coin. They are opposites but they support each others weaknesses.
The emotional openness vs. The guarded emotions.
The need to make people laugh vs. The need to not show his laugh.
The physical vs. mental strengths.
Together, they gain inner and outer strength. They'll have someone to confide in, someone with much different upbringings and experiences than their own. Both in and out of universe.
But that's not really all there is to it, is there?
No, because family is so integral to both of their characters, we can't really talk about how good Yax is, and why it works, without talking about Goofy, Wakko, and Dot.
Yakko would never date someone, or even be friends with someone if they didn't like his siblings. Not just get along, like.
The Warners are "All for one, and one for all times 3". There is no talking about such a major change to the Warner dynamic without addressing every Warner, because they're affected too.
Dot and Wakko need someone to be friends with outside of themselves. They need familiarity and kindness.
Who better to open the Warner's to a kinder life, than a toon from a company all about the power of familial and romantic love? The themes that surround Max and Goofy(as well as many other Disney's), are exactly the kind of thing that those kids need the most.
Wakko and Dot need to have love that comes from the outside. Love from a parental figure who isn't their older brother, and love from a real friend, someone who cares about them who they aren't related to and can talk through issues they may otherwise be uncomfortable talking to their siblings about. The Warners are closer than any siblings that have or will ever exist, but there's still some things that are easier to talk about with a third party.
With Goofy, (someone who knows how to raise a kid, and what they would need to thrive) the Warners can finally, just be kids.
Yakko being happy is a the big part, but having the Warners brought into the Disney family by Goofy Goof, the man with so much understanding and love to give, who GETS kids, and has always let Max be a kid and help him through it?
It would help all three of them lean on outside help.
His appearance through Yakko and Max knowing each other, gives the Warners a positive adult figure in their lives who will be there to support them instead of criticize them for being "too much".
Yax isn't JUST about Yakko and Max, it's about the connections these kids make beyond the studio lot.
The connections that start with the eldest himself opening up. Start with Yakko overcoming that fear of rejection and letting people in.
It's about learning the world around them isn't just filled with people who want them locked up.
It's also about Max having someone who can match his energy. Max already has some friends who let him be himself and are wonderful people , but The Warners open up a different side of Max that can allow him to show that freer, mischievous side and have fun in that same way he had enjoyed in Goof Troop. He's allowed to revel in it, instead of worrying about stressing out his friends by getting them in on the antics.
The world is also filled with people who embrace their weirdness and energy, and who will guide them.
Even if you just like yax as friends, it's easy to see the potential and benefits
The Warners and the Goofs, to have lives grow richer.
And more, with them being from separate companies, their worldview would be able to grow to incorporate new ideas and thoughts.
The Warners aren't very open with their emotions, so a father son duo who have always been open and communicative would be able to show them the benefits of doing so themselves.
Plus, watching the Warner Siblings wreak havoc with a smile, hurting no innocents, would be exactly the type of thing to make Max smile in turn.
They deserve each other, deserve kindness and acceptance. ALL of these kids do. And every single one of them get that through Yax.
Plus, through Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Yakko and Max exist within the same universe. They're so close. It's not a stretch to see them interact and understand each other.
Now, there's a lot more to talk about. How it came to be, and how the shipping climate and the timing of the original shows allowed for this to line up to happen.
So look out for that in Part 2, featuring an interview with the person who started it all.

Pinky and The Brain: reboot intro analysis
I really love the reboot intro for the Pinky and The Brain's segments! You are about to read an analysis of some symbols and a bit of the cinematographic language.
Doing this was fun and quite inspiring, I hope you feel the same while reading.
Let's begin 🐁
First, we see lightnings and hear thunders, since the light and sound strike at the same time, we can tell the thunderstorm unfurls very close by. Lightning is a symbol of illumination and destruction.
The next screenshot reminds me of The Tower, a tarot card with lightning as one of the main symbols, which reveals a great abrupt change (for the better or the worst) by striking down something structured, maybe a way of thinking.
Tumblr media
When we see Acme Labs, even if it has a sign not to enter, there is an opening that frames an inviting path. The moon takes importance with a great visual weight because of the way it is placed in the composition and how it contrasts.
Tumblr media
The symbol of the moon is all about emotion, intuition, the yin and sometimes craziness; Pinky embodies that characteristics. In 1995's spinoff, we sneak a peek of Brain's mind and see Pinky as the Cheshire cat, then he becomes the moon which orbits him (from Brainwashed: Part 1 - Brain, Brain, Go Away).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
After that, we have Pinky running in the wheel, it seems that he is running towards Brain; the action goes from right to left, indicating an extra level of difficulty as it goes against the occidental reading direction. The subtle camera movement included makes it look like Pinky is getting closer, even if he is not.
Brain is facing the other way, we don't get to see what he is looking at or his face expression, as if his intentions and emotions are hidden. Brain is placed between the moon and Pinky, trapped in the cage. His shadow is bigger than himself.
About the shapes, The Brain is surrounded by the cage, squares, while Pinky is framed inside a circle. Those two shapes can be associated to their personalities; the square is strong, reliable and linked to the material world, the circle flows, is infinite and linked to the spiritual world.
Tumblr media
Next you have a screenshot of the Pinky and The Brain's intro from 1995 because this part is very similar, so you can see how the composition changes, mostly the direction of movement, the sensation of depth and so of distance.
Tumblr media
As The Brain reveals himself, the moon is clouded by the thunderstorm, just as Pinky is overpowered by Brain's desire to take over the world.
Tumblr media
Then this pattern appears, it kinda looks like the shapes of the cage and the window.
The colors change, we go from cold to warm. Here the palette includes purple, a color I associate to Brain, and goes to almost yellow, a color I link to Pinky.
Purple and yellow is a complementary color combination, these are on the opposite side of the color wheel. Complementary and opposite, just like this comedy duo!
Tumblr media
Pinky follows The Brain, this time even if they go from right to left, which implies difficulty, they also walk down, which makes it easier. This abstraction of their character design is a good way to appreciate the difference between them.
A little detail I like is how Pinky has no neck, his head is kinda floating.
Tumblr media
Then the straight lines curve and Pinky and The Brain fall apart...
Tumblr media
But soon they bounce and stand again.
In a quick seamless transition, the path they were just following turns into their names, a really neat and balanced tittle with a grade between purple and magenta; it also has a bit of red, purple and yellow peeking by the sides, maybe that colors speak about what is inside or behind.
Here the mice look different, like little plastic figures in a war board game. Brain is almost in the center of the composition, but Pinky is situated in a way your eyes go to him by the rule of thirds.
Tumblr media
Then The Brain emerges and takes these two figures in his hands, he and Pinky are both like playthings that Brain (or maybe his shadow, the representation of his dark side) takes control of.
Tumblr media
Not only this shadow Brain overpowers Pinky and himself, but also transforms them at will in something he can use. Look how happy he is in this brief moment of control.
Tumblr media
Because of the atoms's chemical composition, they seem to attract each other and bond. Their cores, which were their noses, collide, drawing a tick red line that kinda makes shadow Brain look like an angry clown for a split second.
Tumblr media
Pinky emerges and goes his own way. The jump he makes reminds me again of the tarot card The tower I was talking about in the beginning, which also symbolizes what eludes control.
Tumblr media
Brain has been going to the left all the way, and now Pinky goes to the right. He passes between flasks, some of them weird looking. We mostly see his snout and a detail that only can be seen through the glass: his eyes.
Glass is made with the 4 elements and can represent balance between them, it also can symbolize fragility, rebirth, dreams.
Tumblr media
Where has Brain been? Did he go the opposite way, or was he following Pinky? Either way, they end up in parallel paths that look like their process of thinking, and so Brain's is practical, almost a straight line, while Pinky's seems like a dance with all those unnecessary turns.
Pinky's way also has a bit of blue, the one of his own eyes, a color related with freedom, loyalty, and perhaps his unique way of seeing things.
Tumblr media
They get to what seems the center of a maze.
Even if they walk opposite ways, it looks like their heads turn to the center, so maybe they are looking at each other or at their shared tail, which sorta reminds me of the red thread of fate, in this case magenta, a color which expresses intensity, volatile feeling, but also intuition, friendship, or romance. Mice use the tail for balance.
Tumblr media
As they walk opposite ways, the tail does not break, both fall apart before it does.
Tumblr media
This seems to give things a new direction, which Pinky's nose follows. The smell is the sense linked to memory, and I think it also has a connection to the intuition.
Red is another symbol that has importance, a color that's all about passionate feelings, positive and negative ones.
Here the maze looks more like a spiral.
Tumblr media
Then Pinky falls throughout this spiral of DNA. Even if he is falling, it also looks like he is going to the center of it, which is a symbol of going to the intuitive nature.
Tumblr media
The DNA morphs into a golden stripe in which Pinky slides down. If you pause it just in the right time, you can notice the other side of this stripe is purple.
Tumblr media
Golden means success, good luck but also egoism. Purple, the color that I link to The Brain symbolizes mystery, royalty, and wisdom, but also deceit.
Tumblr media
When this stripe of color is looked through the magnifying glass, it looses its abstract form, becoming a yellow ruler with purple marks. I link yellow to Pinky, it is his favorite color (at least it was in the 1995 spinoff series) and expresses positivity, happiness, but also anxiety and craziness.
Purple and yellow have a shared meaning: in the positive side, creativity; in the negative side, arrogance.
Tumblr media
The mice pop up side by side.
Brain's posture here is very different from the powerful one he had before, and we no longer see him in a low angle shot, it is actually a slightly high angle shot. He is slouching, looking kinda defeated, probably by another failed scheme.
By the look he gives Pinky here, he seems sorta dumbfounded by his partner in crime.
Tumblr media
Pinky is completely immerse in measuring himself, lifting the ruler as to say he sees himself a bit bigger than he actually is. Brain is still looking at him, now more annoyed than confused.
Tumblr media
Since Pinky is having fun, he doesn't realize how Brain kinda gives up on whatever he is pondering with his trademark eye roll and a pouty mouth.
If it is like in the 1993 Animaniacs segments, the one holding the magnifying glass is Yakko, who shares Pinky's voice actor Rob Paulsen.
Tumblr media
Then we quickly pull back, remembering how dinky they are. There's a pencil there, which makes them look tiny but also could be a reminder of their shared quality, creativity.
Tumblr media
We go in reverse and there's a significant surprise, the cage is nowhere to be seen, just a huge space and them getting lost in it. The colors had gone almost completely cold, with only a bit of desaturated red and a very eye-catching yellow lamp right above them.
Tumblr media
It pans out taking us out of Acme Labs, the thunderstorm has passed, and the moon is no longer there, only some clouds and a few stars. A whole cycle had been completed, ending almost where it began.
Tumblr media
Some final thoughts about it all 🌎
As I see it, the intro has the same structure as the mice misadventures. When I was watching the reboot segments I first thought it had a circular type of storytelling, ending just as it started, but now I think that it actually has a spiral structure.
In the intro, it all starts with the chaos of the storm and ends with calmness, it stars with distance between Pinky and The Brain but ends with them standing together; it is also the path the show seems to follow with the storylines.
Special thanks to the person who pointed out how this comedy duo falls apart when they separate, I lost the post, but I know I saw it somewhere on Tumblr, if you have that info, please tell me and I'll update the post to give proper credit.

throughout “talladega mice,” brain was forced into a position where he had to be outwardly nice and gentle with pinky. this improved pinky’s mood.
brain was clearly referring to this when he said near the end of the segment, “from now on, i’m going to be more conscious of your emotional needs.” this is confirmed by the line beforehand saying that the whole experience made them “quite a team.”
so is it really a coincidence that right after brain went through all that trial and error with comforting pinky, and right before stating the above, that they were awarded cheese?
and when brain started to get angry and not show pinky his true care for him, the cheese started to melt?
y’all. pinky is the goddamn cheese. brain GOT that cheese (being able to outwardly show pinky he cares about him) after all these years. he just has to keep his anger issues (or his emotional issues/walls in general) in check or else he’ll dwindle it away into nothing

One of my favorite tests for if something in a show is meant to be Noticed™ is to watch the audio description version, cause the whole point of that is to describe what’s happening on screen as accurately and objectively as possible. It’s basically the statement “this is literally what happened” fully realized.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So anyway this look here was described as “grins fondly” and I literally can’t get over the fact that this was a Real Thing that happened with full intent behind it

A musical analysis of Animaniacs
Tumblr media
The music in Animaniacs, at least in my humble opinion, is one of the strongest and most notible attributes of the show. Music is so attached to the brand of Animaniacs, and I honestly believe that the show wouldn't be as iconic and prevelent in our pop culture if it wasn't for its score.
To understand just how much music impacts the legacy of this show, we have to first understand the man who was behind all of the iconic tunes we know and love.
Tumblr media
This is Richard Stone. Born in Philadelphia in 1953, Stone is a composer who graduated from Jacob's School Of Music in Indiana. After graduating, he moved out west to LA to compose music for various shows and movies such as Northshore and Ferris Bueller's Day Off.
Eventually, in the late 80s, he would sign a contract with Amblin Entertainment to compose the music for Tiny Toons, Animaniacs, Freakazoid and all the other Speilberg Cartoons that were coming out in the 90s. Stone would go on to win several emmy awards for his composition of Animamiacs, winning in catagories such as "outstanding music direction and composition" and "outstanding original song". With such a talented composer at first base, its no wonder that the music in Animaniacs is of such high quality.
So how exactly does Animaniacs' soundtrack seperate itself from other cartoons of its kind? For starters, every episode is composed with a complete original soundtrack, conducted all under the talented Richard Stone. No soundtrack is ever reused, ever; every episode's score is completly unique to fit the tone of the story.
There are a couple noteworthy soundcues that are present in a majority of episodes. For example, that four note melody that plays at the beginning and end of most episodes (it's the one that plays when the WB logo is shown in the intro). Supposedly, the short melody is set to the lyrics "I'm-Rich-ard-stone" after the name of the composer.
Another notable detail about Animaniacs' score is the heavy usage of the xylophone.
Tumblr media
I kid you not, there is not a single soundtrack throughout the entirety of Animaniacs (as well as every other Speilberg cartoon) that does NOT utilize the xylophone in some way. The xylophone most often plays when a character runs in or out of frame, or when a character does a specific action. Stone loved to incorperate the xylophone into the show.
Now let's talk about the song numbers in Animaniacs, 'cause oh boy, there is a bunch! The song numbers in Animaniacs are handled with such care and attention; it's amazing how far the writers went to putting so many layers and detail into the lyrics of these catchy tunes.
Take Yakko's World for example, which is probably the most famous musical number from the show. The entire song is just Yakko naming every single country of the world while pointing at a map. It's so simple, but the song is so effective at acheiving it's messege: to teach the audience (mainly children in elementary school) about the nations of the world.
You'll be surprised at how educational these song numbers are. The majority of these songs were implemented into the show as a sneaky way of abiding by the Children's Television Act that was put in place in the 90s. While these songs were mostly written as a requirement by the network, the quality and care was still put into these simple songs to make them good. They didn't have to do this, but they did it anyway for the sake of quality. It's the small details like these that make me appreciate just how clever and witty the writer's of this show were.
Now, you might be asking yourselves: how do I percieve the music of this show as a fan? In all honesty, I have nothing but respect for Richard Stone and all the talented song writers and musicians that worked to create such a spectacular and clever score for Animaniacs. The music they made will truly stand the test of time. Without their creative imput, Animaniacs wouldn't be nearly as iconic and memorable as it is.
Thank you Richard Stone. May you rest in peace.

Rewatching "Dot's Quiet Time" from the original Animaniacs series and just the beginning sequence alone is my favorite part of the song.
Tumblr media
Like Yakko and Wakko
Tumblr media
Just being brothers
Tumblr media
Their little outfits!
Oh yeah, and then Dot just sitting there contemplating whether she's going to murder her brothers or not. (They're being annoying so I wouldn't blame her.)
Tumblr media
The song itself is pretty great too! I'm kind of disappointed it never got an updated release like "I'm Cute" did. (There's apparently a soundtrack version but I'm guessing it was released on one of the earlier CDs or someone just created their own version?)
This and the Animaniacs theme that plays on the stereo at the end of the song both deserve their own singles.

Animaniacs Reboot Season 3 Episode 2 Review
Check comments for the rest of the review since tumblr can’t post the whole thing.
Variable verse: Folding paper craneys! -Wakko
Yakko, Wakko, and Dot
They’re walking funny to me. Mint, strawberry, and chocolate flavor ice cream? I can see that.
Why do they all look like Dot? It would make sense they all like her but it seems like Gigi took her look? Gigi Soda is based off of Jojo Siwa. She’s cute. Her song was ok. Love how scared/disgusted the brothers looked. Lol
Tumblr media
They didn’t have to do Dot dirty like that.
Tumblr media
It’s sweet how Yakko is defending his sister. Then it gets useless since she smacks his head out of frame. What the hell, Dot? He’s defending you!
Yakko did his “uuuuuhhhhh.” The HBO Max joke was great. Too bad it won’t happen (pretty sure that’s confirmed).
I really don’t like the idea of them breaking and entering to steal an award. Now if they bargain for it or do a competition it’s fine. But this isn’t right.
Again, Wakko wouldn’t necessarily do this. He may have trouble reading the room, but he understood the assignment. Dot wouldn’t beat up her brother, either. And the fact that the bruises stay on for several more scenes makes it worse. What’s with the Warner abuse this episode? It gets worse this season trust me.
Tumblr media
-_-
Tumblr media
Check out her schedule. She has two days for sleep! Aw, dinner with her grandmother. Is that having lunch and dinner like actually eating or is it a luncheon and dinner with people?
I do like this message. Work and no play makes Gigi a dull girl. Not necessarily dull, but taking a break is healthy and is needed to de-stress.
“What’s the point in a lifetime achievement award if you have no life?” - Wakko
Best quote.
Lots of negative things in the first half. Like Gigi getting disgusted with the bugs and Wakko and Dot not liking their games. The scene with Wakko eating dirt has the table and chairs from the theme song as the background. I like the detail of Yakko facepalming when he sees Gigi drawing data charts. Nice detail with Gigi being left-handed because Jojo is. I love how Yakko says “lunch.” It gets better when she opens up. Probably shows her progression and immersion in the song. Did…did Ralph just die? Damn Dot…ouch. Was Wakko gonna say Hooters? It’s an actual place but did they stop because it sounds inappropriate or for copyright?
The song would’ve been so much better if it was completed. I’m so disappointed. It was funny when Nora interrupted (if it was anything else I was gonna say the song was trash) but I would’ve liked for her to do it afterwards.
That is very scary. Deciding on what age she is. I get the joke on kids staying the same age in shows; but in real life…
Good on Gigi for standing up for herself.
Good on Dot for apologizing but I agree with Gigi. She shouldn’t have done that in the first place. Also, the internet made her insane. Sub, like, and follow. It just abruptly ends.
Half of the plot where Dot steals the award was bad. As I’ve said before, she should’ve bargained for it. This isn’t a good message for kids. Now it seems like Gigi didn’t learn anything from them. And that stinks since the second half of the plot was good! Don’t worry about being an influencer or a job especially when you’re a kid. Just enjoy life and have fun. If the Warners went about it differently and the ending was more heart to heart it would’ve been such a good episode.
Starbox and Cindy
I actually really liked this one. I can’t remember season 1 but I think I like this one the best. They’re adding more characters so it’s not stagnant. Good! The ending was funny when Cindy just grabs him. Also, “she died.” Lol Woah Starbox went through a crisis until she brought her back to life.
What I do like is that you’re supposed to focus on the slapstick. Reminds me of the classic Warner Bros. Very good. The animation was nice! I do like these shorts. There’s no attachment like how E,P&TB was so it’s easier to enjoy it. Cute, funny, very good.
Pinky and The Brain
I like the idea. Based off Harry and Megan I think. The song was nice. Like the UK English and American English differences throughout the short. The fries and crisps joke was funny.
Brain keeps selling himself out. Was this from the OG? I know Pinky did it. Brain could’ve asked to be king instead of selling himself out. Or they could’ve had Charles come in and take it. That would’ve been funny. The Royal flush at the end was great.
Warners - 6
S&C - 8
P&TB - 8
Avg - 7.3
I think my disappointment was radiating when I made the rankings. I consider 8 a solid. I didn’t like the resolution in Pinky and The Brain, but the stuff throughout the episode made it great.

way too many people on here think that. "Media for kids = doesn't have to be quality/can be hot shit".
"It's for kids it doesn't matter", really? I don't want to go on the "kids are smarter than you think" yada yada. So instead I'll take a cabby from III 14. For all you know some kid might try to imitate/say what Bot said to a irl disabled friend of theirs. . And Yes I know you an adult know it's bad, BUT A KID MIGHT NOT!  "They should do their research" their a child! They like III and they might go "Well Bot from III did that and told Cabby to do that and Cabby ended up happy so I'm doing the right thing!" Especially when the media at hand tells them "Hey this is a perfectly okay thing to do".
If it didn't matter then why were we all demanding II's writers change it?
If  media for kids isn't important, why do people care about incorrect/stereotypical portrayals of minorities in it? Why should media for kids have episodes about more serious topics?
(((Before anyone interprets this wrong I'M saying we should care about this)))
And second of "it's for kids no wonder it's gonna be bad" is also such a crappy take.
(I've been on a scooby kick) Remember that Velma show that was literally made by a transphobe (Which was most likley made to own the left, it's a can of worms. Tldr: show is bad). Well if were going by age rating it should be the creme of the crop for scooby doo media! But it isn't! . Mystery inc (which albeit is Aimed at older kids, I'll give you all that) is regarded by all of the fandom as the best in the franchise. And (in many people's opinion) what's cool scooby doo(Aimed at kids) is the funniest one (even if all the characters look like seth mcfarland drew them, I'm being srs it's funny God watch it) If all media for kids is inferior to media for adults why isn't the fandom obsessed with Velma?
You all whine about how object shows have turned into corporate slop(which is a different argument and a whole other case of worms), but then you go "Oh they're all just meaningless stupid things for kids it's not that serious".
Oh and don't get me started on how you guys act when it comes to media analysis/Fandom discourse. "It's for kids it's not that serious" Or "it's just a silly show" God forbid people feel emotion about a media that's for a age group younger than them. God forbid they care for something that isn't some "serious" and "important" masterpiece. I've seen people say "there's barely any analysis in the osc" Why should people analise things that are for kids? They're not as deep or Worthwhile as things for adults!
I'm not saying you can't have object shows as your own fun little "turn my brain off" for a second thing, I'm just saying you all should stop acting like assholes about people who care about this media in a way different from yours.
Before you go "What's the point it's just fictional". What's the point in any media analysis in that case! So many people cry "the osc has no media literacy/none of you understand the osc deeper" and then they say stuff like this.
Look if you want to dismiss all fandom discourse go for it, but if your sole argument for that is it being for kids I will turn into the animaniacs reddit mod character
God I'm sorry If I turned into every middle aged man cartoon reviewer. I'm not saying you can't just ENJOY things from time to time (not having some old guy in a room of action figures scream into my ear "DESPICABLE ME 2 ISN'T A GOOD MOVIE! IT'S NOT A DEEP PEACE OF ART" is nice.
And I do believe some things can just be fun! I love just a fun Cartoon. But don't act like every single thing that isn't directed towards adults fits into that category. Also don't act like simple cartoons can't have genuine moments and love and care put into them, something dosen't have to be serious like HFJONE to have a serious topic/well writteen bit here and there.
I'm not saying object shows are fucking hamlet or Shakespeare or "Pan Taduesz"(the poles know). I'm just saying degrading all media criticism/discourse abt object shows because there for kids is an extremely stupid statement.
I'm gonna fucking say it Tacomic discoursers Pro/Anti I fucking love you all, people act like your just "stupid idoits" But I know 90% have acctually HAD to analize II you've had to pay attention to small things to things most would find un important. (You all shouldn't be getting that petty over it) But still!
(This all also goes to the people saying I was never good, no one (from my knowledge) was unironically comparing it to Shakespeare. It was just a well written series and you're not ready to accept the fact that something you liked has writing issues. The only reason you're so shocked is because you were watching it as a kid and YOU thought you were watching high class art. But just because it isn't some Masterpiece in writing  mean it doesn't have ANY decent writing. Media dosen't have to be a to be a masterpiece to be worthy of being good. I don't know how to tell you this but enjoying some critically also had the word ENJOY in it, You don't only have to be critical of it because it's not some DaVinci art)
To end this corny long ask all I have to say is this
"It's made for kids" isn't a way to throw away all the criticism towards it, "it's made for kids" doesn't mean it's should have no quality control,
"it's made for kids" dosen't mean you should undermine the effort and love put into it
(OH MY FUCKING GOD THIS THING SOUNDS LIKE A 10 YEAR OLD ON A FORUM POST WRITING A MANIFESTO I'M SO SORRY TO WHATEVER MOD HAS TO TAG AND READ THIS, this thing is mostly likely a ramble but this trend of saying "it's made for kids" unleashed some evil cartoon reviewer persona in me)
your apology is accepted-📻

I'm bored...I'm gonna analyse a GIF.
This year marks Ed, Edd n Eddy's 25th anniversary. I may not talk about it much on this blog, but it's one of my all time favourite cartoons. I'd watch it constantly during my childhood and to this day "Big Picture Show" is my favourite series finale. So, given how much I enjoy the show, I was happy to see more tweets about it than usual on my Twitter (yes I'm still calling it that) timeline because of the anniversary.
The influx of tweets (yes I'm still calling them that) about the show led me to this tweet. There's a very good analysis of the moment here on Tumblr, but here's a screenshot from a reply under the tweet of what the user said.
It made me think of other similar moments of character acting in animation, and of course I started thinking of examples from Animaniacs.
There's many to be found across the original show and the reboot, but one example I really like is this moment here:
Tumblr media
For context, all three Warners are making similar jokes about the size of a hunter's feet.
It's not the dialogue I wanna talk about, this moment is brief and ultimately not that important, but I just love how the Warners are animated here. It tells you a lot about them based only on the character acting and body language:
Yakko
Yakko is the first to come onscreen to make a comment, indicating that he's the leader. He calmy walks into frame holding one hand out conversationally, before standing with both arms behind his back. Compared to the other two's stances, this makes him look more reserved and professional. This not only indicates that he's older, but also suggests he's cool-headed and not as reliant on physical action as his sibs, hence why his arms are behind his back; he only really needs his voice. He gives a smug grin, so even without hearing what he's saying you know he's being snarky right now, which contrasts with his body language, showing he's purposefully maintaining a deceptively non-aggressive demeanour and is likely a smart aleck in general.
Wakko
Wakko is the only one who doesn't come in from the side, instead he enters frame from below, indicating that he's the most unconventional of the three. He flails his arms around rather than keeping them in one place like Yakko, which not only suggests that he's more wild and energetic, but (as I said earlier) is more reliant on physical action than Yakko. Wakko does a sort of "don't worry about it" motion with his left arm with a simple smile on his face, a smile that lacks any smugness. This suggests that he's a little friendlier in comparison. He sticks out his tongue like a dog and eventually settles on T-rex arms, indicating that he's more animalistic than his sibs.
Dot
Dot quickly hops into frame from the side, almost like a pounce, with a determined and somewhat aggressive facial expression, showing energy and spunk. She punches the air, which only emphasizes her feistiness. Her movements suggest she's more prone to being outwardly aggressive than her brothers. Her expression softens to more of a cute smile, showing that she's not all aggression and is quite cute and jovial too. She settles with her hands on her hips, a typical pose used to show that a character is sassy and/or confident, hence indicating that Dot is too.
Basically I just think the way animation can be used to establish characters without us having to hear a word out of them is really cool.

A Different Perspective on the Warners' Ages
The actual age of the Warners has long been a topic of debate. Are they more children or are they more 90-year-olds? Some mixture of the two? My actual opinion has always been some mixture. They are physically and mentally children, but with 90+ years of life experience in their children brains.
Tumblr media
But then I got thinking about it. Do they have 90+ years of life experience? For the vast majority of that time, they were either locked in a tower or in suspended animation. Is time spent in a possibly dark and empty tower really valuable as a life experience? Are they gaining any practical knowledge, are they learning anything, are they developing? Or are they just static?
Even if the tower has fun stuff in it, they're not really gaining much from riding a rollercoaster over and over again. They're not experiencing the world. They're not building up the experience that any other 90-year-old would have. If you take three human children and lock them up in a room until they're adults, they're not gonna come out of there acting like adults. They will still be children for all intents and purposes in their heads. They didn't develop.
If you only count the time the Warners were out of the tower, as far as them getting practical life experience and "aging" in a mental sense, then the picture changes significantly. They were created in 1929 and locked in the tower in 1934. That means they had 5 years of true life experience when they were locked away. They escaped for brief periods over the next 60 years, for a couple of weeks at a time at most. Maybe we can add a year for all those experiences total?
Tumblr media
So, by the time they escaped from the tower in 1993, they were mentally 6. They were out and about until 1998 or 1999 if you go up to the time Wakko's Wish was released. That's 6 more years at most. When they were put in suspended animation, they were mentally 12.
They came back in 2020 and were around for 3 more years. This means that, at the beginning of the reboot, they were mentally 12, and by the end, they were mentally 15.
Tumblr media
I think these numbers actually line up pretty well with how the Warners act in the reboot and how they seemed to develop both in the original series and the 2020 series. They were more like crazy children in the first episodes in the early 90's, became a little more grounded and cynical as that series went on, and act more like adults or teens in the reboot than they did before.
I'm not saying this was some intentional deep worldbuilding on the part of the writers. I'm just saying it makes sense.

The Warner Tax Rant.
Being “So far below the poverty line, they’re off the graph”, doesn’t seem to be a statement only true in the movie after all. This is almost 1k words. Sit tight.
OG RANT DATE: 3/22/2023 We know the Warners pay taxes. We know they pay income tax from the “We pay tons of income tax” line from the 90s intro. Tons is subjective, but we also know based on many instances of the Warners gaining some sort of monetary wealth(even to be immediately taken away) that money is something they care about(1). There’s been jokes(2) about how little they’re paid by the studio, one of which from a cut song about tiny things where the smallest thing of all was their paychecks. We know in the comics they also just. Don't have money to treat themselves to nice outings and so they have a separate thing they call “The Cute Fund”(3) where the Warners allow people to pay to pinch their cheeks, and they use that money for things like trips. Not only are the Warners like wicked underpaid and taken advantage of for being children, but since they were originally from the 30s, when they were released from the tower for the 90’s show they didn't know what the base wage was at the time.
So even with all their fame in the 90s (on the level that would make it a cultural phenomenon, eg: clothes, games, theme park partnerships, school supplies) they were not fairly compensated for it.
But even with them being such a household name, if they had to talk over their own contracts, they were likely tricked into thinking they were getting a better wage just by holding it up to what they were paid for their very few paychecks for their 30s films, even if they’re smart kids, they’re just kids, and between desperation and relief of being released, their judgement may have been clouded on their own contracts. They were probably also just thankful to be getting the opportunity to get them at all because it meant that they would get time outside the tower for the first time in 60 years Anyway these thoughts brought me to thinking about Yakko having to calculate their paychecks and do taxes every year since they have an income.
But based on how little the three of them make together and how expensive California is, i assume tax season is pretty stressful for poor Yakko.
In the 90s when there wasn't a ton of tech going around it meant he'd have to do all their taxes by hand with a calculator and a bunch of notes and i am thinking of this poor boy pouring over then at like 12 in the morning after Wakko and dot have gone to bed under the guise of practicing his lines.
For assistance programs that exist for humans that the warners making so little money might qualify for, e.g. food stamps, would they even be approved?
Maybe toons get rejected for that since "they don't need to eat" regardless of toons like wakko who are designed differently to eat more and always be hungry and also hypoglycemic(4). (5)So in the 30s, minimum wage was .25 an hour, which translates to a little over $4 an hour now
In 1990, the minimum was was 4.75 ($9.19 as of 2024)
HOWEVER
We can assume toon labor laws would be different since they didn't even have the right to vote until 2020 bc of Dot, and the way animals are paid for their “acting” in 2020s.
So for the sake of this exercise in taxing we’ll assume that they were convinced being paid $1 an hour for each of them was a really REALLY good deal because it was 4x the wage in the 30s.(during the great depression)
This next part was calculated with help from my friend allowing me to use his California pay stub. Thank you Mickael. <3
Toons are probably paid less because they "have less necessities" and get rigorously overworked because their bodies “don't work like humans”. If we assume that they've been tricked in this way and calculate this off a 4 week paycheck, while also saying that they're pulling 40-60 hour work weeks due to overwork, with no overtime pay, that puts their GROSS pay for a MONTH at around ($480 for 40 hours) ($720 for 60 hours).
Taking out California and Federal withholding, and healthcare on through the studio all together at around 12%, net take home would be ($422.40 at 40 hours) ($633.60 at 60) Now let’s assume the Warners get the tower as free room and board. That includes rent, electricity and running water ONLY, so we still have to calculate their wifi and phone bills (since we know for a fact that it’s relevant in the reboot. For the state of California, I used Mint unlimited at $60 a month since all three of them have phones. ($64.35 after tax) Internet needing to be somewhere around 100mbps for all their device’s wifi in the Burbank area, the least expensive option with wiggle room for Wakko(the Gamer) would be Starry Internet ($32.18 after tax). Yakko would be able to get a (LIFE) LA Metro tap card for low income, which would also give him a certain amount of free bus rides per month, after that each metro ride is $1.75 one way, and each bus ride is $1 one way. Let’s give all three Warners together a Budget of $50. This leaves them at ($275.87 for 40 hours of work) ($487.07 at 60) Much, if not all remainder would go to food or clothes depending on your headcanons for that. It’s no wonder they can’t afford expensive picture frames! ---
I'm sure there was more stuff I could have linked back to like the amounts and how I got them, and if people want more info they're welcome to dm me, but I've been impatiently wanting to share my thoughts lol.
Back in march of last year, I first spoke to my friend @help-the-lesbian in DM's about the warner's monetary situation. As I made more friends, I roped more of them into listening to me and now it's kind of an in-joke, but I just like thinking about Yakko getting stressed out about taxes and doing them because he cares about his siblings and he needs to take care of their family.

you are currently visiting the haunted blog of a restless spirit.
«who exactly is haunting this place?», you might ask, and i'll answer that if you look around well enough, you'll be sure to see some familiar faces, even if most of their features are faded and distorted by the ectoplasm.
look at that fella right behind you! seems like it's the ghost of that project you are putting off finishing right now! it looks so clear because it's not quite dead yet, the situation might still be salvageable, but on the brink of death the poor thing has nothing to do but to follow you around until you feel its weight behind you and decide to pay attention to it!
i would guess that you'd want to deal with that as soon as possible, but if you've scrolled through the hellsite far enough to find me, motivating you is already a lost cause...
oh well! since you're staying, we could pay a visit to everyone else hanging around! there are the weeping ghosts of unfinished drawings, some leave smearing ink behind them, some - sharp pixels... oh, and that big unmoving pile of ectoplasm is the ghosts of all the books you dropped reading after barely even starting them! be careful around that place, you might accidentally find a fanfiction poltergeist among them, that's gonna become a problem really fast...
see that sad, fading thing over there? that's the ghost of a forgotten website. not sure where it came from, but that one's still holding onto this layer of reality solely because of me feeding him with simple html code from time to time. he's so ancient, i can barely believe that he managed to reach this place! if i find out who left him like this, that irresponsible user is in big trouble!!!
...it wasn't you, right?

Finally Talking About Dark Pinky (Day 7 of Pinky Week)
Guess who showed up finally!
Tumblr media
Yep, you read that title correctly. No, this isn't some belated April Fool's Day prank. Happy Dark Pinky Thursday to all my fellow evil mice enjoyers and welcome to the final installment of Pinky Week!! This has completely gone off the rails and I apologize for the extensive delays and unkept promises; I was just so tired and I required a lot of breaks. So, to thank everyone who's been with me, I decided to make my last post for Pinky Week a tribute to the fans! Get ready, because things are going to get interesting.
4/6/23- Dark Pinky Discussion/Analysis: A popular fandom character, Dark Pinky is the character you go to if you're looking for the Animaniacs/Pinky and the Brain fandom's official Tumblr sexyman. Gaining popularity in 2020 due to Dark Pinky Thursdays popping up as a meme, the homicidal and delightfully malevolent mouse has made his presence very well known on a variety of sites. And yes, I definitely have fallen to all the art and fanfiction I've seen of him. He's a great character, has a lot of potential for fanfiction, and is delightfully evil with a dark, twisted sense of humor (at least that's what I've taken from him). He's a recent obsession of mine and I'm glad to finally admit that I really do like him. I'm also glad to be contributing to his every growing fanbase. This essay will trace Dark Pinky's history, how he became so popular, and what he brings to the overall Pinky and The Brain community. And yes, I'll be mentioning Future Brain a few times since that is part of the story.
Humble Origins (Pinky and The Brain Comic Issues #1 and #24):
Tumblr media
You might be surprised to realize but originally, Dark Pinky was more of a comedic villain rather than an outright malicious one. In fact, his plans were often times very silly and his tendency to break into evil laughter was more funny than menacing. He'd make his grand debut in Issue #1 of the Pinky and The Brain comics, being the one who ruled the alternate superhero universe Pinky and Brain find themselves in. At first, he doesn't reveal himself, rather he uses Dark Brain as a cover-up. But from the moment he appears, we get a sense of how different he is when compared to the original Pinky. Dark Pinky wears purple armor with gloves and pretty awesome spikes on his shoulders; he also has a long purple cape. The tufts of fur on his head are more straight and less curled, he has fangs, and wears a metal headpiece that (I believe) allows him to read minds. He still retains the iconic verbal tics that Pinky has and he also does an evil laugh after nearly everything he says. His personality is similar to Pinky, but with a slightly more villainous side. He finds pleasure in creating dastardly plans, showing the power and control he has, and relinquishes in the suffering he brings to others. However, he remains excitable, gets distracted by inane things, and his plans are more comical when compared to how the fandom would shape him to be. Dark Pinky does plan on murdering both Pinky and Brain but is defeated after he reads Pinky's mind and finds "horrifying imagery." He eventually returns in Issue #24 where he ends up trying to take over via public broadcasting. He's now bent on revenge and has a group of minions (in hilarious purple costumes) at his behest. He even calls upon the help of Poison Billie (another semi-popular character from this universe), and the two look like they may succeed. Eventually, Brain and Pinky do manage to defeat Dark Pinky and Poison Billie once again, this time seemingly for good. Dark Pinky's plan in this issue is very ridiculous and isn't scary in the slightest. It's almost intriguing on how he started out as such a comical villain before a few people decided to make him a little more unique. Dark Pinky remains to this day a comic exclusive character, never appearing in any of the T.V shows or even getting a mention in the series. The comics have also been questioned for the canonicity due to a few factors. However, Dark Pinky wouldn't be forgotten for long. Things only get weirder from here.
Dark Pinky and the Tumblr Sexyman Trope:
Tumblr media
Now we're getting to the point where we must discuss the fandom. But before we do that, let's talk about the thing that made him famous in the first place: the Tumblr Sexyman craze. In the early 2010's after the release of the film The Lorax, a group of adolescent girls became attached to the character of The Once-ler, but not for his personality, rather for his appearance. The trend started up on Tumblr and began to grow in popularity to massive degrees. And this fandom was weird to say the least. People shipped the Once-ler with himself or alternate versions of himself and he became known as the first official Tumblr sexyman. However, as the years passed, more and more characters were added to the collection of Tumblr sexymen. Most of them had a common theme: tall, white, baddie/emo, often seen in suits. Others such as Sans from Undertale were a little different but still contained a few typical tropes. To be considered a sexyman, a character needed to showcase at least one or two of these traits plus have a dedicated following with a lot of fanart and/or fanfiction. They also can be considered conventionally unattractive or non-human. After the introduction of the Tumblr sexyman, many fandoms tried their best to find a perfect match for the rising phenomenon. And luckily, the Animaniacs/PaTB fandom had their candidate. While Pinky Suavo also caught on very quickly and was more well-known for his episode, Dark Pinky seemed to be the most accurate to the previously established tropes, being tall, white, evil, wearing purple armor, having a mysterious past, and sporting a super cool design. The potential for him was rabid and he seemed to check off all the boxes perfectly. It did take a while for people to find him, considering the comics are so obscure, but eventually Dark Pinky would hit the fandom in a way previously not though of before. Nobody would realize the impact this character would have. Until it was too late.
Dark Pinky is a Sensation (And how the fandom changed him):
Art featured below is by the incredibly talented @wimsiecal And if you're perchance reading this, I just want to tell you that your art is amazing and you have made me obsessed with Dark Pinky to an unhealthy degree!!! :) Seriously please go follow them if you haven't already, I'm begging you!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
After the fandom discovered Dark Pinky from the depths of the comic book series, his popularity skyrocketed, especially after the 2020 fandom revival. He quickly became known as the Pinky and The Brain Tumblr sexyman and that hasn't changed since, though Pinky Suavo has joined him. Dark Pinky fanart, fanfiction, and various other forms of media became extremely sought after and many posts would get thousands upon thousands of views/likes. Despite never appearing in the series, fans of Dark Pinky's would often point out moments where Pinky acted like his evil counterpart, some even editing screenshots to have Pinky appear like him. However, since Dark Pinky only appeared in two comics, the fans naturally had to get creative with him. Many fans have completely changed his character, altering his appearance every so slightly, or expanding on his past and personality. Dark Pinky's fan design was only a tad bit different. He was given sharper edges, different outfits in various shades of purple and black, a more detailed helmet, and he even appeared without the whole getup. Dark Pinky's design without armor or the helmet was entirely made up by fans. Here, he has the same body as Pinky but with scars (including a super cool one over his eye), dark eye shadow, and black painted nails. Dark Pinky's personality was also altered, making him a legitimate threat and an actual evil villain. He kills, his grip on the world is ruthless, he treats his servants like crap, and he shows no mercy to anyone. His comical plots from the comics are no more as he's become kind of scary and menacing. You don't want to mess with him. Yes he does have a sense of humor, but it's often twisted or at the expense of others. Dark Pinky still on occasion does an evil laugh or has a verbal tic but it's usually when he's upset. Some fans have given him a soft side; some of which include his feminine urges remaining intact and that he has a fondness for cheese. But be careful. In a few variations from people in the community, Brain is mysteriously absent. Mentioning Brain to Dark Pinky in those universes will often cause him to go into an insane rage. These fun and interesting pieces that were added to Dark Pinky not only make him more interesting, but add to his status as a Tumblr sexyman. These changes aren't technically canon, but they're arguably better since they make Dark Pinky stand out. It is quite strange to see him change from a comical antagonist to a semi-serious villain worth being feared, but it was much appreciated.
Dark Pinky Gets a Love Interest and an AU (Dark Future Ship/Fan-made Universes):
Tumblr media
For the longest time, Dark Pinky didn't have a love interest of any kind. Sure, if you wanted to be shunned you could ship him with Poison Billie (please don't), but Brinky was the name of the game. The ship between Pinky and Brain was, and still is, incredibly popular among fans, after it gained popularity in the late 2000's and early 2010's. And of course when Dark Pinky got popular, he needed someone to be paired with. For a while, he would be shipped with just regular Brain or a fan-made evil version of Brain if creativity was present. Luckily, the fans finally got their perfect match when the Animaniacs reboot came out. In episode 9, the character of Future Brain was created and fans immediately compared him to Dark Pinky. Their color schemes were similar with both mice being seen in purple. Future Brain had a scar, robotic hand, and half of his face was robotic, all of which fit into Dark Pinky's universe very well. The hints that Future Brain was betrayed by Pinky also had many theorizing that he came from a future ruled by Dark Pinky, connecting the two together even more. It wasn't long before Future Brain and Dark Pinky ship fanart and fanfiction began popping up everywhere. Since the duo had very similar esthetics, they could be drawn together easily. The story potential was also very high as well. Dark Pinky and Future Brain dominated (pun intended) the fanbase and soon became seen as an alternate ship to Brinky. But while Brinky was healthy and cute, Dark Future (Often called the official ship name) was toxic and awkward. Some people portrayed them as an evil couple ruling the world together, while others painted their relationship in a negative light, where Dark Pinky was abusive and manipulative. It depended solely on what person was developing the story. Future Brain was also added to the quickly developing Dark Pinky alternate universe which has been shown via the extremely popular ask blog askdarkpinky. Featuring beautiful fanart and a darkly humorous tone, this blog is a must-view for any Dark Pinky fan. It created an expansive universe with lore, locations, and alternate versions of popular characters. Snowball remains consistent in the flashback sequences, aligning with his canon character exactly. Billie retains a majority of elements from Poison Billie minus the orange hair, including the plant themed outfit. Julia has a new look with a lab coat and goggles. She's works for Dark Pinky, making all of his technology. Brain is noticeably absent from this universe, with only hints to his possible location. It's also implied that this is in fact Future Brain and that he might be doing something. Dark Pinky goes crazy when Brain is brought up and refuses to hear anything about him. This drama and conflict is so interesting. The creation of this ship and various alternate universes only increased Dark Pinky's popularity and now, he stands as a cornerstone of the Pinky and The Brain fanbase.
Conclusion: Though Pinky himself is a beloved character, Dark Pinky stands on his own as a fandom favorite. From his design to his personality and potential, he fits the Tumblr sexyman ideology to near perfection. The fans have shaped this character and have made him stand apart from the rest. Sure, he's evil and doesn't treat things with care, but he's a good character. It's really spectacular that people in the community were able to turn Dark Pinky from a villain that existed mainly for comedy to a threatening presence with an un-hinged mindset. The fans are truly to thank for bringing Dark Pinky into greatness and there's hope that he can remain relevant and continue to entertain people (and make people question their sanity/sexuality) for a few more years to come.
OMG!! Pinky Week is finally done!! Woo hoo!! I'd like to thank all of you for sticking with me for this long period of time. You have been the thing that's kept me making these. I'll be taking a small break for the next few days and then Brain Week will begin! I can assure you guys that Brain Week will not take as long and will be better planned out. I can't wait to begin! Anyways, that's it for Pinky Week! Thank you for reading and have a great day/night! Happy (possibly belated) Dark Pinky Thursday to everyone!! Narf!

Animaniacs 30th anniversary
Tumblr media
On this day 30 years ago, Animaniacs premiered on Fox Kids and became the 2nd most popular children’s show at the time (right behind Mighty Morphin Power Rangers). After a 65-episode season one and a 4-episode season two containing leftovers of one, Animaniacs moved to The WB Network in 1995 as the flagship for the network’s children’s block, Kids WB. Running for 3 more seasons, Animaniacs ended its run on November 14th, 1998 with 99 episodes in total. In 1999, Warner Bros. released a direct-to-video film called Wakko’s Wish which served as the series finale.
To this day, whenever people bring up greatest cartoons of all time Animaniacs is always near the top of the list for me. It has some of the best comedic timing ever put on television and has a great mixture of slapstick and clever adult jokes that’s on par with the classic Looney Tunes cartoons. Now is the show flawless? No, of course not. There have been some recurring jokes and gags throughout the series that have not aged well over time (there’s quite a few fatphobic jokes and the recurring Hello Nurse jokes). Also while the Warner Siblings, Slappy Squirrel, and Pinky and the Brain segments were S-tier most of the time, the show also had its fair share of what was basically just filler for the aforementioned segments (The Hip Hippos, Katie Ka-Boom, Mindy and Buttons, etc). The Rita and Runt segments fit right in between the S-tier and filler-tier for me personally because of the musical numbers sung phenomenally by Broadway actress Bernadette Peters.
So again even though it’s not flawless (nothing is really), Animaniacs continues to be one of my favorite shows that I revisit and quote often. This along with Batman the Animated Series are arguably the most influential animated kids shows of the 90s and it continues to be enjoyed by old fans and new fans alike.
Also check out @legion1979 ‘s blog if you want to see more in-depth analysis of episodes in the series and Wakko’s Wish. They wrote these reviews around a decade ago, but they’re still nice reads.
