Things were pretty mellow regarding Japanese mid-size bike development in the mid-1960’s. There were two-stroke 250’s, 350’s and a 500 from three makers and Honda started offering the CB450 about 1965. Then in late 1968 we opened our copies of Cycle and Cycle World to photos from European industry motorcycle shows and saw the Honda CB750! Four megaphone mufflers, the brilliant engine sticking out from under the candy apple tank and that glorious machined brake rotor up front. If you were riding around 1969, even if you loved British bikes or Harleys, you couldn’t help but stare.
In that era the 750cc bike, a “45,” was king and what was road raced and dirt tracked in most places. In fact the Dick Mann ridden Honda CB750 won the Daytona 200 in 1970. But Honda realized riders might want something a bit smaller, more manageable. In 1972 they offered the CB350F and CB500 Four, both in-line fours mimicking the big CB750 though with vertical cylinders. Later each was punched out to 400 and 550ccs respectively. The 350’s and 400’s were sweet, but typical of in-line fours of the era, you had an 8500 to 10,000 RPM redline and you’d better use it to get some acceleration. The CB400F’s remain very collectible with their 4 into 1 pipe and decked seat, production Cafe Racers of sorts. The more docile four pipe 350F is collectible too, but the exhaust systems are very prone to rust through and maybe one in five good bikes have stock exhausts any longer.
The 350F rolling chassis is pretty typical for the era, a mix of tubes and stampings. Like its big brothers, it has a disk brake in front, and drum in the rear, free standing tach and speedo, flip gas cap, dual seat. As 350cc bikes, this 350F, the CB/CL 350K3 and SL350 Motosports were sold in dealerships side by side in this era. The F was sold 1972 to 1974. Of all the Honda fours, the 350 is likely the smoothest running, essentially vibration free.
This 1974 Honda CB350F with an aftermarket four-into-one exhaust was donated to the National Motorcycle Museum by Suzi Bellville and Hall of Fame inductee Eddie Fisher and we’re happy to have it on display.

Cardano (ADA): Sell it for Solana?
New Post has been published on https://www.ultragamerz.com/cardano-ada-sell-it-for-solana/
Cardano (ADA): Sell it for Solana?
Cardano (ADA): Sell it for Solana?
Cardano (ADA), the brainchild of Ethereum co-founder Charles Hoskinson, has been a hot topic in the crypto space. However, with a recent barrage of bearish news and influencer skepticism, some are questioning whether ADA is all it’s cracked up to be. Let’s delve into the world of Cardano, separating hype from reality.
Influencer FOMO and the Solana Shadow:
Social media is flooded with “Cardano killers” like Solana (SOL) boasting lightning-fast transaction speeds and lower fees. Influencers, often swayed by short-term gains, are hyping SOL to the moon, leaving Cardano seemingly stuck in the dust.
Cardano’s Different Path:
However, Cardano takes a much different approach than the “move fast and break things” mentality of some competitors. Cardano prioritizes meticulous research and a peer-reviewed development process. This methodical approach, while slower, aims to deliver a more secure and scalable blockchain in the long run.
Cardano vs. The Hype Machine:
Recent bearish articles highlight Cardano’s slow development progress and missed deadlines. While these criticisms hold some weight, it’s important to remember Cardano is building a complex ecosystem.
The ADA Price:
Cardano’s Bullish Trajectory: A Technical Analysis Glimpse
Cardano (ADA) has been on a tear lately, and technical analysts are using charting tools to predict its potential price path. Here’s a breakdown of three possible targets based on different timeframes:
Short-Term (1-2 Months): Applying the Fibonacci retracement tool to ADA’s recent price surge suggests a first target of around $2.20. This level represents the 61.8% retracement of the current upswing, a common support zone after a price increase.
Mid-Term (3-6 Months): If the bullish momentum continues, a more ambitious target could be $14. This aligns with the 161.8% Fibonacci extension level, indicating a potential doubling of the current price within the next half year. However, reaching this target zone would require sustained buying pressure and positive news surrounding the Cardano ecosystem.
Long-Term (1+ Years): For the long-term hodlers (holders on for a dear life), some analysts are charting a much more aggressive target – a staggering $55. This aligns with the 261.8% Fibonacci extension, signifying a potential 25x return on investment from current levels. However, reaching this price point would require significant adoption of Cardano’s blockchain technology and widespread recognition of its functionalities.
Remember: This is for informational purposes only and should not be considered financial advice. Technical analysis is just one tool, and market conditions can change rapidly. Always conduct your own research before making any investment decisions.
Is ADA a Worthy Investment?
While some influencers are quick to dismiss ADA, it’s crucial to conduct your own research and understand Cardano’s unique value proposition. Here are some key aspects to consider:
Scalability: Cardano’s Ouroboros proof-of-stake consensus mechanism aims to achieve high transaction throughput without sacrificing decentralization, a challenge faced by many blockchains.
Smart Contracts: Cardano’s smart contract platform, Plutus, is built with security and formal verification in mind, aiming to minimize bugs and vulnerabilities.
Interoperability: Cardano’s vision includes interoperability with other blockchains, allowing seamless transfer of data and assets across different ecosystems.
Bearish News and Price Performance:
Despite the recent bearish sentiment, it’s worth noting that ADA started the current market cycle at around $0.20 and reached a peak of over $3.00, a significant increase. This demonstrates that long-term investors still see value in Cardano’s long-term vision.
Is ADA Right for You?
The decision to invest in ADA depends on your risk tolerance and investment horizon. If you’re looking for a quick pump based on influencer hype, Cardano might not be the best choice. However, if you believe in Cardano’s long-term vision of a secure and scalable blockchain platform, ADA could be a worthwhile investment for your portfolio.
Remember:
The cryptocurrency market is notoriously volatile and prone to hype cycles. Always conduct thorough research, understand the risks involved, and never invest more than you can afford to lose.

VEGOILS-Malaysian palm oil falls on profit-taking NEW DELHI, Dec 21 (Reuters) - Malaysian palm oil futures dropped on Thursday, as investors booked profits after five straight sessions of gains, while lower overseas demand also weighed on the market. The benchmark palm oil contract FCPOc3 for March delivery on the Bursa Malaysia Derivatives Exchange lost 38 ringgit, or 1.01%, to 3,740 ringgit ($805.51) by the mid-day break. Along with profit-booking, lower exports from Malaysia and weakness in rival soyoil also dragged down palm, said Anilkumar Bagani, research head of Mumbai-based vegetable oils broker Sunvin Group. Exports of Malaysian palm oil products for Dec. 1-20 fell 8% to 837,475 metric tons from 910,513 metric tons shipped during Nov. 1-20, cargo surveyor Intertek Testing Services said on Wednesday. Indonesia, the world's biggest palm oil producer, exported 3.00 million metric tons of palm oil products in October, down 31% from a year earlier, data from the Indonesian Palm Oil Association (GAPKI) showed. Malaysia's palm oil stocks at the end of November fell for the first time in seven months as a decline in production outpaced a fall in exports, data from the industry regulator showed last week. Soyoil futures BOc2 on the Chicago Board of Trade were down 0.49%. Palm oil is affected by price movements in related oils as they compete for a share in the global vegetable oils market. Palm oil may test a support zone of 3,775-3,781 ringgit per metric ton following its failure to break resistance at 3,813 ringgit, Reuters' technical analyst Wang Tao said. Oil prices fell and were on track to snap a three-day winning streak, as concerns over low demand following a surprise U.S. crude inventory build outweighed jitters over global trade disruptions due to tensions in the Middle East. Weaker crude oil futures make palm a less attractive option for biodiesel feedstock.

F1 2020 spain setup
Tumblr media
#F1 2020 SPAIN SETUP HOW TO#
Lower pressure will make your car a bit easier to control because more rubber touches the surface of the track. This setting will make you particularly fast on tracks with a lot of mid and high-speed corners like Suzuka. High tire pressure will make your car more responsive and allow you to reach higher maximum speeds. Pressure is an especially important factor in F1 2020 as it affects your ride as well as your tire wear. Tire management already starts with the preparation of the car. With our guide, you learn the basics of tire management in no time which will improve your stints in no time!Īre you looking for the latest guide on tire management? Head over to our updated F1 2021 tire tutorial! Under pressure Not caring for your tires might give you slightly better lap times, but the benefit will almost never be as significant as avoiding an extra pit stop. Saving your tires from wearing out can spare you an additional pit stop which eventually costs you between 20 and 30 seconds. Good tire management can be a game changer in Formula 1 races.
#F1 2020 SPAIN SETUP HOW TO#
With this setup, you’ll be able to make sure that the conditions won’t be catching you out.Our tutorial shows you how to save your tires and win races in F1 2020. Spain can be a surprisingly tricky circuit in the wet. READ MORE: Does F1 2020 My Team need a hardcore mode? I would be hesitant to lower the front pressures much more than this, as you will need the responsiveness through the final sector. I’ve gone for 22.2psi for the fronts along with 19.9psi for the rears. Lower tyre pressures are always helpful in the wet, and Spain is no exception. If you find yourself locking up constantly, lowering the brake pressure will give you better results. This is the setup that works by far the best for my personal driving style. Once again, it’s 100% brake pressure and 50% brake bias for me. 9-11 will give you plenty of stability and confidence in your car. It is because of these factors that I have recommended fairly stiff anti-roll bars.Ī high ride height yields a happy car in the wet. READ MORE: The best steering wheel for F1 2020Īdditionally, the wet conditions tend to produce understeer mid-corner. Roll can be a problem in Spain due to there being several long corners to contend with. I’ve found that 1-2 works the best in the wet in Spain.įor your anti-roll bars, I’ve gone for a slightly stiffer than usual 6-10. Therefore, 0.05 and 0.20 are the way to go.Ī softer suspension setup will help your car to cope with the wet conditions, as well as making it easier on you if you take a little too much kerb in the final sector of the lap. The advantage of running a low toe is quite significant around here, as it helps you through longer corners such as turns 3 and 4. For this reason, I would suggest going for -3.00 and -1.50 for your camber settings. Too much negative camber, however, and you’ll compromise the drivability of the car. I’ve found that 65% gives be a solid car that doesn’t feel as though it’s trying to spin out.Īs this circuit has a plethora of fairly high-speed corners, there is plenty of reward to be had in running extra negative camber. The other most effective method of ensuring good rear grip in the traction zones is by running an on-throttle differential setting of 50%.įor the off-throttle, you’ll want a balance between stability during the longer corners at this circuit and outright performance. Not only will you have faith in the rear of the car as you plant the throttle, you’ll have plenty of front-end grip to get you around the many long, sweeping corners at this track. The best way to achieve both of these things in F1 2020 is to adjust the wing settings on your car. Wet conditions call for two things: more downforce and a planted rear end.

Riding In Hot Weather - Some Useful Tips
There is no such thing as bad weather when riding, whether it's monsoons, winters, or summers. While most motorcyclists prefer chilly, dry weather, the riding bug doesn't wait for the weather to improve before biting you. Hot summers, with the blazing sun pounding down relentlessly on you, are one of the most difficult weather conditions to ride in. You should be properly prepared if you plan any short or long rides in such hard circumstances, as cycling in hot weather poses a comparatively greater challenge to your body. Here are some suggestions to keep you cool and safe on those hot summer rides.
Consider your ride duration carefully
Riding in the summer means you'll have clearer skies and better visibility than in the monsoons and winters, giving you more freedom in terms of when you ride. Even if you have the freedom, you should avoid cycling during the hottest hours of the day. The sun is at its harshest between 12 and 3 p.m., and the ambient temperature is atrociously high. If you're on a full-day ride, this is the perfect time to take your mid-day breaks. Plan shorter rides so that you get to your destination before the peak heat period. For the most comfortable riding experience, you should either leave early in the morning or ride after 3 p.m. For longer journeys, the best-case scenario is to begin your journey in the morning and stop for a leisurely lunch break about 12.30-1 P.M. for a leisurely meal and an hour's rest. After 2.30-3.00 p.m., you can resume your journey. This short respite is beneficial not only to you, but also to your vehicle, as hot weather causes oil, coolant, and engine temperatures to rise dramatically. Allowing your bike to cool down will help it recover and partner you more reliably for the next leg of your journey. Try to stick to the aforementioned timings for journeys where you'll be returning the same day: arrive at your destination by 12.30-1 p.m. at the latest, and then begin your return journey by 2.30-3 p.m.
While not ideal for visibility, the coolest hours to bike during hot summers are when the sun is not shining. To get the most distance, it's a good idea to leave a couple of hours before daylight. Adding a few hours of ride time to your journey after the sun goes down is the greatest strategy to beat the heat in summers if you are a seasoned rider in the dark.
Put on weather-appropriate clothing
Now, just because it's hot outside doesn't mean you should ride without adequate riding gear. Choose riding clothing that allows for enough air circulation while still keeping you safe in hot temperatures. Summertime is great for textile riding gear with armour in sensitive locations. The first layer of your garment should be a wicking fabric that helps perspiration to evaporate quickly. Furthermore, thanks to the wind, you will not feel the heat as much when cycling at speeds beyond 40-50 kmph. The odds of you getting skewered are highest in stop-and-go traffic, so plan your travel so that you may escape the irritating city traffic and get onto the interstate as soon as possible. Leave the city early in the morning and always use ring highways or by-passes for cities along the way. Keep the vents on your helmet open at all times, and keep the vents on your jacket and leggings open as well. For hot weather, there are specialised cooling vests that keep you cooler for longer. It is recommended that you get one and use it because it is quite efficient against heat. It's also important to consider the colour of your gear; light-colored goods that reflect sunlight are preferable than dark-colored items that absorb heat and cause discomfort.
Eat Smart
It's not a good idea to consume oily, spicy, or heavy meals when it's hot outside. Your body is continuously fighting to stay hydrated, and if you pack your stomach with hard-to-digest food, it will demand more water from the body for energy production. You are paving the road for yourself to get uneasy and dehydrated by doing so. Maintain a healthful, light, and hydrated diet. Simple food that requires little effort from the body in terms of digestion and provides a steady, consistent release of energy is recommended. Buttermilk, coconut water, and fresh lemon water are all hydrating liquids that help you stay hydrated and fresh. Salads with hydrating vegetables like cucumber, onion, carrots, and tomatoes can also help restore your body's salt reserves; just make sure you obtain them from a location that handles and prepares raw vegetables safely. When riding long distances in hot weather, it's also a good idea to stop for a snack or lunch break instead of loading up on a substantial meal.
During breaks, take off your gears
Ensure that you remove your heavy riding gear during stops so that your body may get some fresh air and properly cool down. To remove the riding gear without feeling strange or ashamed, use a fully-body wicking liner or moisture-wicking T-shirts and shorts inside the gear. Remove your riding boots as well to allow your heels to chill down.
Apply sunblock and buy good sunglasses
While hot weather has an effect on the entire body, the face and eyes are more exposed to the sun than other areas of the body, thus they bear the brunt of the severity of the sun. Before you go on your ride, make sure you have a good sunscreen on the exposed parts of your body. Eyewear that protects against heat, UV rays, and brightness without obstructing vision should also be purchased.
Keep yourself hydrated
A water bottle is a must-have. You must hydrate yourself as often as possible. Invest in a nice hydration pack so you may continue to drink water while cycling. Also, drink plain water as often as possible instead of sugary energy drinks or coffee, which will deplete the body's water supply and cause more harm than benefit. You can also add a dash of oral rehydration salts to the water in your hydration pack to help protect your body from losing electrolytes.
Breaks should be taken more frequently
You might be an endurance cyclist who doesn't tire as quickly as others. Riding in hot weather with the sun blazing down on you, on the other hand, is exceedingly risky. If not careful, even the most experienced hot weather motorcyclists can succumb to heat exhaustion or even a stroke. It's usually a good idea to take a little break earlier than usual to get some fresh air, calm down, and refresh your body. It not only allows your body to relax and recover, but it also allows your bike to catch its breath. Summers cause motorcycles to heat up faster, and riding in such temperatures for lengthy periods of time is bad for the engine's health. The tyres, too, need to cool down so they don't overheat and continue to provide you with ideal grip.
Keep an eye out for indicators of heat exhaustion or heatstroke
Heat stroke and severe heat exhaustion can strike without warning. If you are not comfortable riding in hot weather, don't try it. Early indicators of heat exhaustion or a heat stroke include headaches, weariness, cramps, nausea, and red patches on the skin. If you are even somewhat unwell, don't hesitate to seek cover and comfort in the first available location. Rest, rehydrate, and don't move any more until you're feeling better. Heat strokes can be lethal very rapidly, and as a responsible rider, you must take all necessary precautions to avoid being a victim.
Maintain your
vehicle
fighting fitness
It goes without saying that maintaining the health of your motorcycle is critical before embarking on a ride in difficult weather. To have a great ride in the scorching heat, make sure your two-wheeler has been properly serviced and that all of its components are functioning properly. Check that the engineoil has not been misused and has been refilled in a timely manner before you start your summer trip. Check and replenish all important fluids, especially if you're going on a long ride. If you have a liquid-cooled motorcycle, this is especially true for the coolant. Avoid riding too aggressively because when you ride hard, the engine oil has to work considerably harder, and the possibilities of the entire system overheating and breaking on you are much higher.
Check the tyres' condition as well, making sure the tread has not worn away. Maintain adequate tyre pressure and avoid overinflation in hot conditions, as air expands and can cause tyre rupture. If feasible, fill the tyres with Nitrogen, as Nitrogen-filled tyres run much cooler. Carry a puncture kit in case you get a flat tyre. Fill the fuel tank only halfway, leaving room for 1-2 litres of petrol. It's fine if you have to stop for fuel more often in hot weather; taking more breaks is really better for you and the motorcycle.
Summer riding can be enjoyable because traffic is light and visibility is superb, allowing you to cover a lot of ground quickly. You will enjoy your rides and have a great time if you are cautious and take adequate safety precautions. Always be prepared, follow the speed limits, and obey all traffic laws. Ride carefully!

• Light Tank Mk VII Tetrarch
The Light Tank Mk VII (A17), also known as the Tetrarch, was a British light tank produced by Vickers-Armstrongs in the late 1930s and deployed during the Second World War.
The prototype of the Light Tank Mk VII (A17), nicknamed 'Purdah', was first developed in 1937 by Vickers-Armstrongs as a private venture, and was intended to be sold either to the British Army or to foreign militaries. It was to be the latest in a series of light tanks produced by the company. The tank was designed to overcome the shortcomings of insufficient armament in earlier light tanks that were fitted only with machine guns. Vickers-Armstrong installed on the Mk VIIs a 2-pounder 40-millimetre (1.6 in) main gun paired with a 7.92-millimetre (0.312 in) Besa machine gun, and mounted the two guns in a two-man turret. The prototype weighed approximately 16,800 pounds (7,600 kg) and was powered by a 165-horsepower (123 kW) Meadows engine. Suspension was on eight road wheels, four per side, with no separate driver or idler wheels and it was capable of a 40 miles per hour (64 km/h) top speed. The Mk VII design relied on an unusual steering method and a mechanical system incorporated into earlier Vickers models. The front wheels could be steered to allow for gentle turns by bending the tracks. For sharper turns, the system returned to the conventional method of braking one track to turn the tank; the dual system of turning was designed to lessen mechanical strain on the MkVII and reduce its power wastage. The War Office examined the design and put the prototype through a series of trials during May and June 1938; the model was tested as a possible "light cruiser" since War Office light tank needs were already met by its predecessor, the Mark VI. The War Office then took the view that the tank was not acceptable as a light cruiser because the Nuffield A13 offered better speed and obstacle crossing performance. Despite this, it was decided that it was essential for some Tetrarchs to be produced, and it was suggested that they be brought in at the end of the light tank program.
Accordingly, the War Office gave the Tetrarch the official General Staff specification number A17, and, in November 1938, accepted it for limited production after requesting a few minor changes which included the fitting of an external fuel tank to increase the tank's range. The number to be produced was subject to fluctuation as the War Office vacillated in their demand; in July 1938, it requested that 70 of the tanks be produced, then increased the request to 120 after a three-day conference in November. Production began in 1940, the request number further increased to 220 after Metropolitan Cammell Carriage and Wagon, a company part owned by Vickers-Armstrong that would be producing the tanks, indicated it had already ordered armour plating for that many tanks. Production of the tank was delayed by a number of factors. The War Office put their order on hold in a post-Battle of France decision to focus military production on infantry and cruiser tanks, due to the poor performance of British light tanks during that battle. Due to the shortage of more suitable tanks, light tanks that were not designed for use against German armour, were nevertheless deployed against them; the resulting high casualties led the War Office to re-evaluate the suitability of the light tank design. Further delays were caused by the bombing raids of the Luftwaffe during May 1941 against the factories where the tanks were assembled. The cumulative effect of these delays resulted in the production of only a small number of Mk VIIs; estimates place the final total produced to be between 100 and 177. The name 'Tetrarch' was given to the Mk VII, on September 22nd, 1941, on the orders of the War Office. The last of the tanks were built in the first quarter of 1942 and delivered at the end of the year.
The War Office and the Army were concluding, at this point, that light tanks were a liability and too vulnerable for use in further combat, and the Tetrarch was considered to be obsolete. This decision may have marked the end for the Tetrarch in active service; several of the tanks destined to be deployed to the Eighth Army in the Middle East for the North African Campaign were left in Britain when their cooling systems were determined to be unable to cope with the intense North African heat. The demise of Tetrarch was prevented by a decision made by the War Office in mid-1941, as it was considering the equipment to be used by Britain's fledgling airborne forces, formed in June 1940 under the orders of the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. When selecting the equipment for the airborne forces, officials at the War Office concluded that gliders would be an integral component; gliders would transport troops and heavy equipment, which, by 1941, was to include artillery and some form of tank. By May 1941, the feasibility of a 5.5 metric tons (5.4 long tons) tank to be carried for 350 miles (560 km) in a glider was accepted, although the aircraft would have to be specifically designed for the task. In a conference held on January 16th, 1941, it was decided that the General Aircraft Hamilcar, currently under development, would be used to transport a single Tetrarch tank or two Universal Carriers. The Tetrarch was chosen because it was an obsolete design, and was therefore available to be used by the airborne forces.
Beginning in January 1944, training exercises were conducted carrying the Tetrarchs and their crews inside Hamilcar gliders. These exercises were successful; during the training by 'C' Squadron of the Glider Pilot Regiment, which specialised in flying the Hamilcars, over 2,800 lifts were made with an average of 50 lifts per crew. When the Tetrarch was re-designated as an airborne tank, several changes were made to its design. A number of tanks had their 2 pounder guns replaced with a 76.2-millimetre (3.00 in) infantry support howitzer; these tanks were then designated as Tetrarch 1 CS (Close Support). Additionally, Littlejohn adaptors were added to those Tetrarchs which still possessed their 2 pounders to increase their muzzle velocity and armour penetration. The Tetrarch experienced several setbacks throughout its development and deployment with the Army and airborne forces. One of the major problems was the limited number of these tanks that existed after production ended in 1942, which particularly affected the airborne forces. The transport of 20 of the tanks to the USSR under the Lend-Lease Act depleted the number available for use by airborne forces, as did the loss of several more during the invasion of Madagascar. This lack of sufficient replacement reserves, combined with a War Office report that some 287 airborne tanks would be required for the 1st Airborne Division and an unnamed airborne division to be formed in India, led to the Tetrarch's eventual replacement by the US M22 Locust.
A number of design faults of the Tetrarch were revealed through its operational use. Its size limited the possible crew to three, a driver in the hull and a gunner and commander in the turret, resulting in too few crew members to operate the Tetrarch effectively. The gunner or commander, in addition to his own duties, had to act as loader for the 2 pounder, which caused delays in combat. A report on the tank written in January 1941 stated that as the commander had to both fight and control the tank, controlling a troop of Tetrarchs during combat would be almost impossible. Problems were also found with the Littlejohn adaptor fitted to the 2-pounder to increase its range and penetration power; after they had been fitted the adapters could not be removed, and could only fire specially designed armour-piercing rounds, which took time to manufacture. The War Office also considered the Tetrarch's cooling system faulty, making the tank unsuitable for service in hotter climates, such as the Middle East and North Africa. The first Tetrarchs were delivered to the Army in November 1940, and were initially deployed with the 1st Armoured Division (which was being refitted after losing the majority of its previous tanks during the Battle of France) and the newly formed 6th Armoured Division. However, the faults discovered with the Tetrarch cooling system precluded them from being integrated into units in North Africa Campaign. Shortly after, all light tanks were discarded from the establishments of British armoured divisions as not suitable for further service. The Tetrarchs remained in Britain, and would probably have been used as training vehicles before being retired from service, but in June 1941 the German invasion of the USSR, Operation Barbarossa began, and the USSR became an ally of Britain. As part of the lend-lease program, the British government began supplying war materials to the USSR, which in early 1942, included a shipment of 20 Tetrarchs, as well as a number of Valentine and Matilda Mk I Infantry tanks. The Soviet military utilised a greater number of light tanks than the British, and so could use the Tetrarchs. When the tanks arrived in the USSR, however, it was apparent that the design problems with the cooling system were also present in cold conditions; additionally, the cold weather had a deleterious effect on the tank's suspension and tracks. Additional testing of the Tetrarchs was conducted by the Soviet military and the design was admired for its controllability, manoeuvrability, and speed, as well its ability to run on low-quality fuel, unlike contemporary Soviet designs. The thinness of the Tetrarch's armour was found to be a problem and one which could not be solved, as the weight of extra armour plating caused an unacceptable reduction in the tank's speed.
Despite these drawbacks in the Tetrarch's design, Soviet authorities believed it to be comparable to the T-70 light tank in use at the time, and decided that it was suitable to be used in combat. in September 1943 two were assigned to the 132nd Separated Tank Battalion, which was attached to the 5th Guards Tank Brigade; both tanks were destroyed in combat. Several were also used for propaganda purposes, appearing in photographs of Soviet troops who were fighting in the Caucasus region. In mid-1941, the Royal Armoured Corps in Britain created three tank squadrons for special overseas operations, known as 'A', 'B' and 'C' Special Service Squadrons. Both 'A' and 'B' Squadrons were equipped with Valentine Infantry tanks and Mark VIc light tanks, but 'C' Squadron was equipped with twelve Tetrarchs transferred from the 2nd Armoured Brigade, 1st Armoured Division. All three squadrons were transported to Inverary in Scotland for intensive training that focused on embarkation and disembarkation from ships and landing craft to prepare them for action in potential amphibious operations. Operation Ironclad, was the invasion of Madagascar, the third largest island in the world and then under Vichy French control. The 29th Brigade formed the core of the invasion force due to its training in amphibious operations, and under its command was 'B' Special Service Squadron, created by amalgamating six Valentines from 'B' Squadron and six Tetrarchs from 'C' Squadron into a single unit. The squadron was formed into four troops, one Headquarters troop of three Valentines and one Tetrarch, one of four Valentines, and two formed from the remaining five Tetrarchs. The invasion force assembled off the west coast of the northern tip of Madagascar on May 4th, near Antsirane and the bay of Diego Suarez. The French line was eventually broken by 29th Brigade, aided by an amphibious assault by Royal Marines; the remaining tanks of 'B' Squadron, two Valentines and three Tetrarchs. The squadron played no further part in the battle, as the Vichy French authorities negotiated a formal surrender the following day, although French troops would continue to engage the British occupying force in guerrilla warfare until late November. 'C' Squadron suffered heavy casualties during the invasion; only one Valentine and three Tetrarchs out of twelve tanks were functional by May 7th, and the squadron had suffered seven killed and six wounded. It remained in Madagascar until early 1943, when it was shipped to India and took part in the Burma Campaign as part of 29th Brigade.
Because of a lack of equipment training facilities in mid-1940, when the British airborne establishment was formed, the War Office was able to accept only 500 volunteers for training as airborne troops. Progress in setting up proper training facilities and acquiring suitable transport aircraft was so slow that the first British airborne operation, Operation Colossus, was conducted by a retrained Commando unit. The 1st Airborne Division, and on January 19th, 1942 the War Office decided that a light tank unit would be one of the support units attached to the division. This unit, designated the Light Tank Squadron, was to be formed of nineteen light tanks and would operate to the fore of the division, using their tanks' speed to capture objectives and then holding them until relieved by other units. The unit immediately began training, but was not attached to the 1st Airborne Division for long; during mid-1943, the division was transported to the Middle East so it could participate in the Allied invasion of Sicily. The squadron was transferred to the 6th Airborne Division, which had been raised in April 1943, and 'C' Squadron remained with it for the rest of the conflict. The squadron continued to train as an air-portable unit, and participated in a number of exercises to prepare for its new duties, including reconnaissance of enemy positions and counter-attacking enemy infantry and armour. In December 1943, the War Office decided to expand the squadron into a regiment equipped with a combination of light tanks and conventional reconnaissance vehicles such as scout cars, and on April 1st, 1944, it was re-designated as the 6th Airborne Armoured Reconnaissance Regiment. In May 1944, after participating in a further series of exercises and manoeuvres, 'A' Squadron moved from their training area to a transit camp at Tarrant Rushton airfield, while the rest of the regiment moved to RAF Brize Norton airfield the next day; from these two airfields, the regiment would be transported from to participate in the British airborne landings in Normandy. It was tasked with protecting the eastern flank of the Allied seaborne landings, securing strategically important areas east of Caen, capturing several important bridges over the Caen Canal and River Dives, and destroying a coastal artillery battery. Insufficient transport aircraft were available to land all three of the division's brigades simultaneously; one would have to be landed in a second lift later. The Tetrarchs of 'A' Squadron were to play an integral part in this reconnaissance role due to their speed, but the squadron's strength of twenty tanks was severely depleted by the time it landed in Normandy. The squadron's strength was further weakened when two gliders collided with each other in the landing zone, destroying themselves and the Tetrarchs they carried; a third Hamilcar hit another Tetrarch as it was being unloaded and flipped the tank upside down, rendering it unusable, although the crew escaped without injury. The surviving tanks were then rendered temporarily immobile when parachute rigging lines became tangled in their suspensions, forcing their crews to cut the lines away with welding torches.
The squadron retrieved all of the remaining Tetrarchs and advanced to the south of the landing zone to link up with the rest of the regiment; there, they received orders to support the 8th Parachute Battalion in the Bois de Bavent area and conduct reconnaissance duties. The division was reinforced by British troops who were advancing from the invasion beaches and it began to push through Normandy, while the squadron continued its reconnaissance duties. Instead, when the division required armoured support, it summoned it from armoured units outside the division, and the Tetrarchs were used to support infantry patrols and provide fire support. By August, in the division's preparation for the planned breakout from the Normandy bridgehead, the majority of Tetrarchs in 'A' Squadron were replaced with Cromwell fast cruiser tanks; only three Tetrarchs remained, assigned to the Headquarters troop of 'A' Squadron. Operation Tonga was the last that Tetrarchs saw of active combat. During the first week of October 1944, the 6th Airborne Armoured Reconnaissance Regiment underwent an extensive reorganization, in which it was completely restructured, and all the remaining Tetrarchs were retired.
They were replaced with the M22 Locust, a purpose-built airborne light tank of American design; eight Locusts were used by the regiment in March 1945 during Operation Varsity, the airborne operation to cross the river Rhine. A report issued by the Director (Air) of the War Office in January 1946 confirmed that the Tetrarch design was considered obsolete, and any light tanks used in post-war airborne formations would be entirely new in design. A small number of Tetrarchs remained in service with the 3rd Hussars until 1949; a Hamilcar glider flight was stationed at RAF Fairford, and a troop of Tetrarchs was kept by the regiment for training exercises with the gliders. However, glider training by the regiment was stopped in 1950 and the Tetrarchs withdrawn from service. Surviving Tetrarch are on display at Bovington and Kubinka.

I Saw It In A Movie One Time- Ch. 8
————
Chapter 1 // Chapter 2 // Chapter 3 // Chapter 4 // Chapter 5 // Chapter 6 // Chapter 7
The lights in Bella’s house stood dim. Tiny specks of light shone through the window carried by the moon. Riley didn’t need any lights, however. His vampire abilities perfectly capable of providing him sight through the dark. He picked up a red blouse, inhaling the scent like he’d never taken a breath before. Maybe it was just that— he didn’t have to breathe anymore.
Charlie lay asleep on the couch downstairs, unsuspecting to the “killer animal” who also happened to be the missing boy he had been working so hard to find.
Upon hearing the door open, Charlie stood to greet Bella, unhappy that Edward brought her home way past dinner time
“You know,” Charlie rounded the corner, “Edward could at least respect meal times,” He gruffed, despondent that he spent dinner by himself.
“I was just with Jake,” Bella refuted lightly.
Charlies face lit up approvingly, until he heard Edwards knock on the door, leaving them to have privacy.
Edward was worried for Bella’s safety, ranting to her that he had almost broken the treaty to make sure she was okay. Mid-sentence, he caught a scent unfamiliar to him.
-
“I didnt recognize his scent,” Edward explained. The Cullens stood attentive– shocked that an intruder of their kind roamed the spaces of Bella’s room.
Esme’s eyes stuck to the floor in concentration, “A nomad passing through.”
“A passerby wouldn’t have left Bella’s father alive,” Rosalie refuted
Jasper and Emmett entered the living space of the Cullen’s home, unsurprisingly composed considering they had just travelled about fifteen miles just to track the intruders scent.
“His scent disappeared about 5 miles south of Bella’s house,” Jasper informed.
The Cullens agreed that it had been orchestrated. Rosalie was correct— any other vampire wouldn’t have left Charlie alive. But somehow, he was important enough to let live by the intruder. It was clear that the intruder did not want to leave any traces of his visit behind. They just could not pinpoint who was behind it. Alice didn’t see Victoria in her visions, nor did she see Aro make any decisions regarding this issue. Carlisle’s only solution was to keep guard around Bella’s house at all times.
“Another protection detail?” Rosalie asked.
“Rosalie,” Carlisle warned.
“No— she’s right,“ Bella agreed, “You can’t protect me, my dad, and search for the intruder.”
“And for Victoria,” Rosalie pressed.
“And keep yourselves fed.” Bella finished.
Alice sighed, “We’ve also gotta watch Kai... I invited her over for dinner tomorrow.”
Rosalie let out a scoff, “Perfect.” She whispered under her breath
“I’m not gonna let you be here unprotected—,” said Edward.
“—and I’m not gonna let you starve,” Bella responded strongly, “And besides, I wouldn’t be unprotected. I have...”
“Who?” Edward asked.
-
“That’ll be $4.25” Kai said to the little boy who was currently scrambling his pocket for an extra dollar, though huffed when he could only muster $3.00.
The boy placed his $3.00 sheepishly on the counter while searching for change with his other hand. Kai smiled softly to herself, shook her head and handed him his bagged items anyway, “don’t worry about it,” she whispered to him with a soft grin. He thanked her gratefully and skipped out of the store to his friends waiting outside. She watched as they celebrated the snacks and candies with a fist bump, riding away happily on their bikes and scooters.
“That was nice of you,” said a voice behind the counter. Kai jumped, almost forgetting there was another customer, thought relaxed as she looked into the eyes of Seth.
She shrugged, “He’s young.”
Seth agreed with a soft “yeah,” as he placed his items on the counter.
“So uh...” he started, scratching the back of his neck nervously, “when are you off?”
Kai chuckled to herself softly, “Umm.. about 10 minutes from now... why? What’s up?” She asked
“Oh! Nothing I just— I mean— I just wanted to know if you wanted to hang for a little bit... that’s all,” Seth asked, prepared for rejection as he recalled the conversation they had just days before.
“Yeah uh...” she agreed, tucking a strand of hair behind her hair, eyes focused on the screen that calculated the total, “I can meet you outside in a little bit— that’s $12.76 by the way.”
“Okay! Yeah I’ll just be out there,” he said while swiping his card, eyes also focused on the machine in front of him. Their efforts to avoid eye contact were evident.
Kai nodded, lips pressed into a tight line awkwardly, “Alright... I’ll see you in a bit,” she said while swiftly bagging the receipt and handing him the bag. Their fingers touched upon the small exchange, but they both decided not to react as Seth left the store.
She heard a scoff from her co-worker who was restocking Trolli snacks in the aisle in front of her, “C’mon dude,” she shook her head, laughing at the cute yet awkward encounter.
“What?” Kai questioned astoundingly.
Her co-worker, Joanne smiled at her, “that was cute.”
Kai only shook her head, “no” while smiling softly to herself.
-
“Have you tried these?” Seth asked, holding up a brightly colored bag of orange chips, the Chinese characters bolded with cartoon pictures of little kids.
Kai shook her head, “Nah, what are they?”
“They’re like... cheese chips. Here try one they’re amazing,” he offered, opening the bag to her. Kai took a single cheese ring between her fingertips.
Her eyes widened, “Dude, they’re really good— what the heck!”
Seth laughed, “I told you!”
“It’s cheesy but like...” Kai’s brows furrowed, trying to find the words.
“Sweet too, huh?” Seth finished. Kai agreed enthusiastically.
They sat for a few moments just enjoying each others company, finishing lots and lots of snacks, and playing paper football with what used to be the receipt.
“So if you don’t mind me asking,” Seth began, his eyes concentrating on the goal created by Kai’s fingers, “where are you from?” He flicked the paper and watched it fly right in the middle of the goal.
Kai huffed. He’d made about a hundred goals while she made maybe six.
“Hawaii,” she answered simply, eyes much more focused on the goal now made by Seths’ fingers. She squinted intensely, trying her best to finally made the goal. She flicked and—
“What the heck man?!” Kai exclaimed, arms flailing in frustration as she looked at him incredulously. Seth let out the loudest laugh, “I’m sorry! I just wanted to see how you’d react,” he cackled. Kai would have definitely made it perfectly in the center, but Seth moved the goal right at the last moment, making it another miss for her.
Kai stood up, “Alright. You know what?” She threatened jokingly. Seth watched as she walked around the table, a mischievous yet playful smile on her face, and wrapped her arms around his neck in a lock and swung him side to side.
“Ahh! Ahh! I surrender! I’m sorry!” Seth feigned defeat. Kai’s not-so-tight grip loosened, as they laughed together. Her arms still were around him, only they lowered to sit above his shoulders. Seth enjoyed the feeling for just a moment, holding onto her arms still— and it was gone the second he realized.
“Sorry,” Kai sheepishly went to sit back down.
Seth smiled brightly at her, kicking her feet daringly, “Don’t be.”
“Are you trying to play footsies?” Kai asked, an uncontrollable smile adorned her face.
“Am I?” Seth challenged.
Their toes making a ruckus as they tried to see who could scuff who’s shoes more, until the game eventually wore. Kai’s phone buzzed and she slipped it out of her pocket, her head cocked back confusedly.
“What is it?” Seth asked.
“It’s Bella,” she answered, “she wants to know if I wanted to hang out with her and her friend Angela... but I don’t know how she got my number.”
Seth shrugged, “maybe Alice gave it to her,”
Kai nodded, “maybe.”

Minnesota Twins-Chicago White Sox Series Preview
5.11.21-Kenta Maeda RHP (2-2) 5.02 ERA Vs. Dylan Cease RHP (2-0) 2.37 ERA
5.12.21-JA Happ LHP (2-0) 1.91 ERA Vs. Dallas Keuchel LHP (1-1) 3.79 ERA
5.13.21-Michael Pineda RHP (2-1) 2.43 ERA Vs. Carlos Rodon LHP (5-0) 0.58 ERA
The Twins At A Glance- The Minnesota Twins are hoping two off days in a row will help this team get refreshed and ready to face off with divisional opponents for the next couple of weeks. The biggest problem with the team has been hitting with runners in scoring position. The Twins are hitting .267 in those situations, which is thirteenth in baseball. The Twins haven’t been able to add runs late in games and are hitting just .207 from the seventh inning on. The inability to add on and the bullpen having one bad inning have been the two biggest faults for the Twins this year. Alex Kirilloff is expected to take swings in batting practice on Tuesday after receiving a cortisone injection in his wrist. He’s hoping to avoid surgery and be back soon. Luis Arraez should be activated for this weekend’s series from concussion protocol. Alex Colome has been given higher leverage innings and I’m anxious to see how the Twins use him moving forward.
The White Sox At A Glance- The White Sox like the Twins have been dealing with some key injuries. Eloy Jimenez tore his left pectoral tendon in spring training and might be back by September. Luis Robert tore his hip flexor and will be out three-to-four months. The only difference is that the White Sox have patched things up and are winning games. The Sox just swept the Royals in a three-game weekend series and are in first place at (19-13). Yermin Mercedes has been quite the story in baseball. He is hitting .373 with a five homers and twenty RBI’s in his rookie season. He is a catcher, but has been DHing a lot given his ability to hit. Jose Abreu leads the team with six homers and twenty-six RBI’s. Yasmani Grandal has not been hitting in the first month or so of the season. He is hitting just .113 with two homers on the year. Carlos Rodon has been incredible for the Sox. He has a 0.58 ERA in five games and threw a no-hitter on April 14th against the Indians. Lance Lynn has been a good addition to the rotation and Dylan Cease has been very good as well with a 2.37 ERA. Liam Hendriks is the new closer with six saves. He does have a 3.55 ERA, so he has been shaky at times. Garrett Crochet, Jose Ruiz, and Aaron Bummer help set him up.
What To Watch For- The two teams split the ten games last year. The Twins took two out of three games to open the season and it looked like they would lead the division throughout the season. The Twins took another three-game series before losing three out of four games in mid-September. Kenta Maeda is (2-0) with a 3.00 ERA in three starts against the Sox. Jake Lamb has two career homers off him. Dylan Cease has a 10.80 ERA in three starts versus the Twins. JA Happ is (4-3) with a 5.05 ERA in eight starts against the Twins. Dallas Keuchel is (4-3) with a 3.12 ERA in eight games against the Twins. Nelson Cruz has five homers off Keuchel all-time. Michael Pineda is (5-3) with a 3.21 ERA in nine starts against Chicago. Tim Anderson has taken Pineda deep twice. Carlos Rodon is (5-3) with a 4.73 ERA in ten games versus the Twins. Alex Colome pitched the last two seasons for the Sox. He saved 72 games for them and had a 2.27 ERA in 83 appearances. He has a 1.28 ERA at Guaranteed Rate Field. The Twins will either sink or swim in the next ten days or so. They play divisional opponents in nine of their next twelve games. It’s time to see what this team is made of moving forward.

Getting Competitive
Time is absolutely flying by for me. As I’ve been working through my business plan and moving forward with my bakery it has been very helpful to look at what everyone else is doing. What works for them and what doesn’t? Will it work for me? Well, today I did a more formal analysis of my local competition. Specifically the other bakery vendors at the Farmers Market where I will be setting up shop.
The first booth I looked at was Dianna’s Country Bakery. Her website experience was minimal as she didn’t have her own website. However, I did find her booths page on the Stratford Agricultural Society's website. It had a lovely description but had many grammatical errors making it rather difficult to read. She also had a video uploaded of her bakery on the page witch increased the page experience quite beneficially. Her social media presence was non-existent so the rest of my findings were based on her page from the agriculture society and my research that I conducted at the market this morning. Dianna’s Market Positioning is a Country/home-style baking as she makes baked goods and canned goods that are priced in the low to mid-range. (I.e. 12 cookies for 6.00, loaves for 6.00, pies for 10.00, tarts 6 for 7.00). Dianna had one online review of 4 stars but anyone I have talked to about her products only has good things to say. Dianna’s Strengths come out when you talk to her in person. She is very friendly and her booth gives off a comforting home-like feeling. Her Weaknesses of course come out in her minimal online presence.
Another booth I looked at was European Pastries. The owner, Eileen, I know more fondly as the cinnamon bun lady. Eileen’s Website Experience was non-existent as she too did not have a website. She did have a page on the Agriculture Society’s website though and it had a short and simple description. Even this was extremely difficult to find (Perhaps due to the name of her company) and I would not have found it had I not known it would be there. But then with some more digging, I found a Facebook page! She had 98 people following her social media account and she provided lots of info as well as good pictures. Her posts mostly regarded business posts and were sporadic in nature. Eileen’s Market Position is a focus on food for the body and soul. She sells art in addition to her baked goods. For reviews, Eileen had 94 likes on her page and of course her fame as the cinnamon bun lady. Her Pricing is also in the Low to mid-range (I.e. muffins 3 for 5.00, cinnamon buns 1 for 3.00, bread 1 for 4.00) Eileen’s Strengths are having social media and the content of that media. Her Weakness comes out in the initial search as her generic name makes it difficult to find them online and a general lack of branding.
Last but not least is Van Straten Bakery. This is the largest bakery of the three and the only one I have not met personally as they have an employee who runs their booth at the market. Their website experience matched the other two though in being non-existent as they also didn’t have a company website. Their page on the Agriculture Society's website was brief however they were featured in a local blog. They didn’t have Social Media accounts however they were mentioned in a grand total of 3 hashtags. Their Market Positioning relies heavily on their Dutch roots with their many specialty baked goods. Their Pricing was low to mid-range (i.e. 6 tarts for 4.10, 13.50 for cakes) Van Straten had the most online reviews with 7 five-star reviews and 1 two-star. People genuinely seem to like their products. Their Strengths most definitely come out in their Dutch baked goods and Dutch roots appealing strongly to an area full of Dutch immigrants and descendants(myself included). Their Weakness comes out again in the online presence.
After doing this analysis it has become clear to me that I could target a younger market as well as develop a stronger following through the use of social media and a website.
