Twins Shutout Sox 7-0!
White Sox 0 Twins 7 W-Paddack (1-1) L-Cannon (0-1)
The Minnesota Twins started an easier part of their schedule tonight against the lowly Chicago White Sox. The Sox had won just three games on the early season and Game 1 was tonight. The Twins were ready from the start as Trevor Larnach drew a two-out walk and Ryan Jeffers singled. Max Kepler plated a pair with a double to right-center. This put the Twins up by two after an inning of play. The Twins added on in the third when Eddie Julien lined a one-out single to right and Trevor Larnach doubled him home. Later in the inning, Max Kepler delivered a two-out run-scoring single to right center. Willi Castro followed with an RBI double to left and the Twins lead grew to five. The Twins got back to work in the fourth as Alex Kirilloff singled and Eddie Julien doubled him home. Minnesota extended their lead to six after four frames. Meanwhile, Chris Paddack finished off seven shutout innings. The Twins added on in the bottom of the severth as Eddie Juilen smacked a Chris Flexen fastball out to right for a solo homer. Ronny Henriquez threw two shutout innings and the Twins picked up a much-needed shutout win tonight at home.
-Final Thoughts- Chris Paddack had his best start with the Twins tonight. He threw seven shutout innings and allowed six hits with ten strikeouts. His change-up was working tonight. Ronny Henriquez got the bullpen some rest with two scoreless innings. Eddie Juilen led the way with three hits and two RBI. Max Kepler and Willi Castro added two hits each. The Twins hit 2-for-6 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base. The team will look to continue their hitting tomorrow as Erick Fedded faces Pablo Lopez in Game 2.

Chicago White Sox-Minnesota Twins Series Preview
4.22.24-Jonathan Cannon RHP (0-0) 1.80 ERA Vs. Chris Paddack RHP (0-1) 8.36 ERA
4.23.24-Erick Fedde RHP (1-0) 3.10 ERA Vs. Pablo Lopez RHP (1-2) 3.97 ERA
4.24.24-Garrett Crochet LHP (1-3) 5.61 ERA Vs. Joe Ryan RHP (0-1) 3.57 ERA
4.25.24-Mike Soroka RHP (0-3) 7.50 ERA Vs. Bailey Ober RHP (1-1) 4.91 ERA
The White Sox At A Glance- The White Sox have been awful to start the year and it's stunning that they are (3-18) to start the season. The team let Tim Anderson walk in free agency, traded Aaron Bummer to the Braves for Mike Soroka and Nicky Lopez, signed Paul DeJong, Erick Fedde, Tim Hill, Chris Flexen, Martin Maldonado, and John Brebbia as free agents. Luis Robert is out with a hip injury, Yoan Moncada has an adductor injury and is out, and John Brebbia is on a rehab assignment after he had a calf injury. The Sox offense is averaging two runs per game and are hitting .188 as a team. Paul DeJong has been the most consistent hitter with a .256 average. DeJong and Gavin Sheets lead the team with three homers each. Chicago has only hit eleven homers on the year. The White Sox starting rotation ERA is 5.93, which is second-worst in baseball. Erick Fedde has been the most consistent starter. The bullpen is in the middle of the pack with a 3.81 ERA. Steven Wilson has been a good bullpen arm with a 1.13 ERA, Jordan Leasure has given up one run over 8 1/3 innings, and Jared Shuster has been good.
The Twins At A Glance- The Twins have stumbled out of the blocks in the first twenty games of the season. It's been a combination of injuries, not hitting, and occasional bad starts by starters, but they are off to a (7-13) start. Hopefully an easier schedule helps the team get back on track. Max Kepler was activated off the injured list on Monday and the team called up Ronny Henriquez. They optioned Jair Camargo and Louie Varland back to St. Paul. Trevor Larnach has given the lineup a bit of punch. He went 3-for-8 with a homer and three RBI over the weekend. Austin Martin has done well too and is on a seven-game hitting streak, where he is hitting .321. The Twins starting pitching own a 5.38 ERA, which is third-worst in baseball. The team isn't sure who will take Louie Varland's spot in the rotation. I think Simeon Woods Richardson could get a start or two. He pitched well in the doubleheader in Detroit. Jhoan Duran is starting a rehab assingment with the Saints on Tuesday. Justin Topa could return in May after a rehab assignment.
What to Watch For- The Twins went (9-4) against the White Sox in 2023. The Twins went (5-1) against the Sox at Target Field last year. Jonathan Cannon, Erick Fedde, and Chris Paddack have never faced their opponents before. Pablo Lopez is (0-1) with a 4.12 ERA in three starts against the White Sox. Eloy Jimenez has two career homers off Lopez. Garrett Crochet owns a 1.74 ERA in 10 1/3 career innings against the Twins. Joe Ryan is (1-0) with a 3.38 ERA in three starts versus the Sox. Mike Soroka gave up three runs over seven innings in his only start against the Twins. Bailey Ober is (3-1) with a 3.5 ERA in twen starts against the Sox. Andrew Vaughn has two homers off Ober in his career. It could be a huge turning point for the Twins as they play the lowly White Sox in seven of the next ten games. They have a lighter schedule and need to take advantage of it.

Tigers Tame Twins 6-1.
Tigers 6 Twins 1 W-Mize (1-0) L-Varland (0-4)
The Minnesota Twins picked up a win to end a five-game losing streak yesterday. That momentum didn't continue until today as the Tigers were ready from the start. Riley Greene and Mark Canha led-off the first with walks and Kerry Carpenter singled home a run. Later in the inning, Buddy Kennedy hit a sac fly to center to double the Tigers lead before the Twins grabbed a bat. The Tigers got back to work in the third as Spencer Torkelson led-off with a single to left. With two outs, Buddy Kennedy smacked a Louie Varland cutter out to left for a two-run homer. This put Detroit up by four after three innings of play. Meanwhile, Casey Mize shut down the Twins through six shutout innings. The Tigers would add on in the seventh when Riley Greene singled and Spencer Torkelson doubled him home. The Tigers had a five-run lead and Tyler Holton retired all six men he faced. The Tigers had one more rally left in them in the ninth as Riley Greene drew a walk and Mark Canha doubled. Spencer Torkelson hit a sacrifice fly to right and the Tigers lead grew to six. The Twins made a little noise in the bottom of the ninth. Austin Martin crushed an Alex Faedo fastball out to left for a solo homer. Willi Castro doubled and Carlos Santana walked. Alex Faedo settled down and retired the next three men as the Tigers picked up the series win today.
-Final Thoughts- Louie Varland struggled from the start. He didn't have his command and it showed. He went 2 2/3 innings and gave up four runs on three hits with four walks and two strikeouts. Cole Sands retired four men with two strikeouts, Matt Bowman fanned two in a two perfect innings, and Jay Jackson allowed a run over two frames. Caleb Thielbar gave up a run in the ninth. The Twins scattered seven hits today and went 0-for-6 with men in scoring position. They left nine men on base. The homestand will continue against the horrible White Sox. Jonathan Cannon will face Chris Paddack in Game 1 tomorrow night.
