Summary: “Brother?” Lan Zhan picks up the call, voice sleep-rough from being woken so late. There is a pause. “Well,” an unfamiliar voice replies, notably cheerful, though overloud and the slightest bit slurred in a way that identifies the speaker as likely not being entirely sober, perfectly matching the loud music and din of voices in the background. “Not quite, actually.” (Or, Wei Ying meets a drunk LXC at a bar. They promptly devolve into being chaos gremlins together.)
Kay's comments: After reading this fic, I have decided that we desperately need more drunk Lan content! How many problems could be solved/avoided if just the Lans would have gotten drunk more in their life! This was extremely cute and I enjoyed it very much! Lan Xichen is, of course, the cutest, happiest drunk in history and Wei Wuxian is such a good bean for taking care of him. Loved the Lan Wangji POV of this entire situation, how he woke up and upon realizing what was going on immediately went into overdrive, wanting to take care of his brother and protecting him from possible stranger danger, but then slowly realizing that Wei Wuxian was in fact a good bean and becoming quickly enarmored with him. The story is marked as finished for now, but the author said that there might be a second part in the future!
Excerpt: Wei Ying, Lan Zhan thinks. A name to put to the voice. Finally. Unexpectedly, the longer the man talks, the more Lan Zhan finds a soft sort amusement suffusing him, strangely unbothered by the ceaseless chatter from the other end, his immediate worry for his brother dwindling and disappearing beyond his own anxiety to get to him and get him home. Sure, he isn’t particularly happy to know that his brother is drunk at some bar somewhere, but Xichen seems to have gotten rather lucky in having come across someone so entirely concerned with getting him home safely. People who genuinely care, much less about complete strangers are rather hard to come by nowadays. Even more so in his family’s… profession.
modern setting, drunk lan xichen, oblivious wei wuxian, smitten lan wangji, possessive lan wangji, not jiang friendly, hints at mafia, fluff, romance, protective lan wangji, single parent wei wuxian, mentioned lan yuan, pov lan wangji, good person wei wuxian, @apathyinreverie

Shen Yuan transmigrated as a Spirit Cat AU (part 2)
First chapter.
---
The rest of the examination, all dutifully narrated by Mu Qingfang, passed in something of a blur comprised mostly of internal screaming and a great deal of cursing, and he only came back to reality when he was picked up by a pair of warm hands.
Shen Yuan flinched and looked up at the man who could only be Liu Qingge, the War God of Bai Zhan and older brother of Best Wife, Liu Mingyan. Living proof that this was a time before the protagonist joined Qing Jing Peak.
Liu Qingge died by Shen Qingqiu’s hand sometime around then, after all.
“Come on,” he said, easily settling Shen Yuan on the crook of his arm and starting to walk like this was an established routine of many years instead of something that had happened twice so far and once under duress.
Distracted as he was, Shen Yuan didn’t bother to question it until they were already flying on— on Cheng Luan again. This sword was as cool as he had imagined, now that he looked at it properly. He smacked Liu Qingge’s arm with his paw until he got his attention, then meowed in question.
Liu Qingge stared for a second before seemingly realizing what he was asking.
“We’re going to see the sect leader, Yue Qingyuan,” he explained. “I need to give him my mission report. And inform him of your presence on the mountain.”
“Meow?”
“Cang Qiong has a rule about bringing in any Spirit Cats that we find. For protection,” Liu Qingge clarified, giving him an unreadable look. “There aren’t many left, so Spirit Cats sell high in many circles. None that our sect supports, of course.”
Huh. Shen Yuan hadn’t known that, even after jogging his memory post realizing which world this is.
He remembered Colored Claw Spirit Cats being mentioned in one of the later chapters of PIDW, something about how they had all gone extinct because of human greed and whatnot. He thinks it might have been wife #629 who complained about how tragic it was to Luo Binghe before the protagonist comforted her with his tried-and-true heavenly pillar. In hindsight, that was probably the last bit of actual worldbuilding Airplane Shooting Towards the Sky had given them before deciding to write terrible papapa and needlessly convoluted harem shenanigans for the next sixty or so chapters before the end of the novel.
What Shen Yuan hadn’t known, however, was that Cang Qiong Mountain Sect actively rescued and protected Spirit Cats. Of course, with the sect long since destroyed and most of the Peak Lords dead or integrated into the harem and promptly abandoned, there was no reason whatsoever for that to come up at that point in the novel.
Regardless, it was an interesting detail of this world, as well as an incredibly convenient fact for him now.
“Liu Qingge,” Liu Qingge said abruptly. Shen Yuan blinked at him, watching the red slowly creep up his ears with slight fascination. Woah. He even blushed prettily, how unfair. “My name. It’s Liu Qingge. I realized I didn’t introduce myself earlier.”
Oh, that was very polite of him. Which was a little strange coming from the guy who chased him through a village for almost four hours earlier that day and who he just saw kick his shidi’s office door in for no real reason. Shen Yuan huffed, then rubbed his face on the man’s arm, purring pleasantly.
“Hmm. Do you have a name?”
“Meow!”
“I see.”
What do you see? Shen Yuan wanted to ask, genuinely confused as to what Liu Qingge thought he understood. Alas, for lack of the vocal cords necessary for human speech, he just settled back down instead and decided to enjoy the ride.
Flying was kind of fun, he was learning.
---
Yue Qingyuan met Shen Yuan’s sudden presence on his mountain with a not inconsiderable amount of polite confusion.
Then, after Liu Qingge explained the situation, including the results of Mu Qingfang’s examination that Shen Yuan had missed almost entirely and was thus glad to hear summarized now, the sect leader just rolled with it with as much grace as his character in the novel took anything unrelated to Shen Qingqiu.
So far, Shen Yuan’s first impression of the sect leader was very much in line with what he already knew from PIDW.
Afterwards, Yue Qingyuan helpfully elaborated on Cang Qiong’s policy on Spirit Cats that Liu Qingge had mentioned earlier. Apparently, the claws of adult Spirit Cats sold very high among a significant number of cultivator circles because of their special properties, and the declawed creatures were usually sold as ‘exotic pets’ to nobles, where they would inevitably die from either improper care or health issues brought on by the loss of their claws. If caught by the wrong people, young Spirit Cats like himself would most likely be caged and tortured to quicken the awakening of their special abilities.
Because of this massive traffic that was both somehow legal and absolutely horrid to think about, the number of Spirit Cats left had been on the decline for many decades now, and none had reached a point in their cultivation where they could take a human form in over three centuries, as far as anyone was aware.
Cang Qiong Mountain Sect, as well as a number of other sects, strictly forbade the abuse of Spirit Cats and the use of their claws to further their cultivation, as well as offered sanctuary for any that they found in the wild or rescued.
“It has been many years since the last time a Spirit Cat resided in Cang Qiong,” Yue Qingyuan said regretfully, tone somber. “When this lord was still head disciple, he had the privilege to meet with one. Master Zhou’s meridians had unfortunately been crippled before he came to our sect, so he never managed to cultivate to a human form despite achieving immortality. This one was told that he was the youngest of a trio of siblings who were rescued together, but that his older sisters had already been declawed and thus did not manage to survive long even in our care. Lan Qingyi, the current Lord of the Shan Shou Peak, was the one who took care of Master Zhou during his final years.”
Listening to Yue Qingyuan’s recounting felt like a bucket of cold water had been dropped on him. All the terrible, horrible things that had made PIDW’s worldbuilding engaging were now real. It was his reality, and that of the people who were here now and had been here before him. The reality of Master Zhou who in the end was unable to reach Ascension, of his sisters who suffered so much and died long before their time. It caused Shen Yuan’s fur to stand on end as he listened to the sect leader speak.
However.
It also felt a little bit like hope. Because, see, for every trafficker out there, for every cruel bastard out to get his kind, there was also a person willing to protect them. Willing to give Spirit Cats a place where they could grow and live peacefully.
And those people were here, in Cang Qiong Mountain Sect, offering him that help now as well.
Huan Hua Palace, on the other hand, was perfectly fine with capturing Spirit Cats and using them as they saw fit. There were even rumors that the Old Palace Master had kept one or two declawed Spirit Cats as pets not so long ago.
Needless to say, Shen Yuan had dodged a massive bullet there. It was nothing short of a miracle that Liu Qingge was the one the villagers asked for help and not a cultivator from Huan Hua Palace, seeing as it was literally their territory.
Shen Yuan had seen Huan Hua Palace disciples flying around, for fuck’s sake.
Liu Qingge’s other hand had come up to rest lightly on top of him at some point during the story and Shen Yuan silently leaned into it, rubbing his cheek against his palm in an instinctual, soothing motion as he tried to burrow his body deeper into the crook of his arm.
“This conversation has taken a dark turn, my apologies,” said Yue Qingyuan softly, when the silent became too heavy. “I’m afraid that this topic is not one that can be avoided for long and it is better to be aware of the dangers sooner rather than later. This master would like to formally extend Cang Qiong Mountain Sect’s protection to the esteemed spirit, as well as an invitation to stay here for however long he wishes.”
Shen Yuan meowed quietly in agreement, and watched as the sect leader smiled gently at him. Then the man nodded, reaching for a brush and some paper.
“We’ll need to record your arrival and arrange everything for your stay,” he informed them. Even if the heavy thoughts lingered in his mind, for now the dark atmosphere seemed to have lifted as they moved onto another topic, for which Shen Yuan was grateful.
Yue Qingyuan paused, as if only now remembering something, and looked up at them curiously.
“Ah. We require a name for the paperwork. Since it was Liu-shidi who found and brought him to the sect, perhaps he could name the esteemed spirit as well?”
Without a moment of hesitation, Liu Qingge shook his head.
“He already has a name,” he informed solemnly.
“Oh?” Yue Qingyuan raised his eyebrows, looking expectantly at him. Shen Yuan also stared, wondering what he would answer. He obviously never told him his name and he was certain that the War God couldn’t read minds.
(Well. Mostly certain, anyway. Great Master Airplane was hardly reliable when it came to developing characters who weren’t wives or Luo Binghe past a certain point in the novel, or any characters at all past another point just slightly ahead in the novel, and Shen Yuan wouldn’t be surprised if he’d somehow forgotten to mention such an important aspect of this awesome character that he’d killed off-screen.
Would he be angry? Of course. Disappointed by the wasted potential? Most definitely. But surprised? After reading that whole godawful story? Ha! As if. Shen Yuan knew exactly what he was in for when he paid for each chapter.)
“He did not tell me what it is,” said the man who, as expected, could not read minds.
Liu Qingge! Shen Yuan cried in his mind, a little exasperated.
“Ah. Of course,” said the sect leader, smiling politely at both of them. He looked like he wanted to sigh but was too polite to do so and had instead defaulted to smiling. “However, I still need a name for the report. Until he can tell us his name, how does the esteemed spirit feel about having a nickname?”
Liu Qingge frowned at the same time that Shen Yuan perked up.
“A nickname?”
“Yes. Something simple and easy to remember that we can use in the meantime.”
Shen Yuan meowed pointedly, tapping Liu Qingge in the arm. The man just stared back silently, clearly deep in thought, before he nodded.
“The children at the village called him Xiao Maomi,” he declared.
“Xiao Maomi?” Yue Qingyuan repeated, looking at Shen Yuan for confirmation.
Shen Yuan considered it. It was very on the nose for a nickname, likely because it was a bunch of little kids who thought of it in the first place, but ‘little kitty’ wasn’t too terrible all things considered. He could have gotten stuck with a name like Doudou or Danhuang. Now that would have been embarrassing.
Therefore, he meowed positively. It was only temporary anyways so he didn’t care much.
Yue Qingyuan smiled politely, reaching for a brush. “Very well. We’ll put ‘Xiao Maomi’ down in the paperwork for now. It can always be changed at a later date.”
While Yue Qingyuan wrote, Shen Yuan looked up at Liu Qingge, considering. Then he wiggled out from under Liu Qingge’s hand, earning himself a curious look that he ignored, and used his claws to quickly climb up his arm and settle on the man’s shoulder, head resting on the collar of his robes.
The reason why the children of the village had taken to calling him ‘little kitty,’ as opposed to only ‘kitty,’ was immediately obvious to anybody with working eyes. This body of his was quite small even for an average cat’s, even a kitten’s, which had worked in his favor while he was sneaking around the village and against him during fights.
Shen Yuan had originally attributed this to a lack of proper nutrition coupled with a young age, but even after months of stealing food he remained around the same size. Now he wondered if maybe it had something to do with him being a Colored Claw Spirit Cat. He made a mental note to find more information on them later.
Right now, however, his small body meant that he was the perfect size to lay down on Liu Qingge’s shoulders and not have to worry about falling, something he intended to take full advantage of.
Liu Qingge huffed quietly, but made no moves to stop Shen Yuan.
Eventually, the sect leader set down his brush and looked back at them with a considering expression.
“In regards to Maomi-xiansheng’s new living arrangements,” he began lightly. “Normally, all Spirit Cats would be sent to the Shan Shou Peak where they’d be able to settle down and live their lives comfortably. However, Peak Lord Lan is currently in seclusion, and this master is uncertain whether any of her disciples are equipped to house and care for Maomi-xiansheng, as they are all quite young and inexperienced still.”
Ah, Shan Shou Peak, the Beast Taming Peak. One of many places that only got one or two lines when Luo Binghe joined and later destroyed Cang Qiong in PIDW. Shen Yuan had always been curious about this particular peak and all the (obviously wasted) potential it held, something he had ranted about on many occasions in the comment section. Infuriatingly, that hack author had once replied to one of his comments with, “okay okay chill dude, I’ll describe more of the sect in the next chapter,” and then spent six whole paragraphs describing Xian Shu Peaks bathhouse and all the shijies in it.
Shen Yuan had never genuinely considered murder in his past life, but by god did he get close that day. He was sure his comment, written in a fugue state of pure rage, had reflected that.
“Doesn’t Lan Qingyi have Hall Masters on her peak?” Liu Qingge said, and though Shen Yuan couldn’t exactly see his expression from his position, he got the impression that the man was scowling as he said that.
“I believe they are occupied caring for all the creatures already in-house and teaching the disciples during Lan-shimei’s absence,” Yue Qingyuan answered, tone as close to exasperated as possible while still remaining polite. “Lan-shimei’s approach to her duties as Peak Lord is very different to Liu-shidi’s, after all.”
Shen Yuan had no idea what that was about, but he could almost feel the self-restraint it took Liu Qingge not to huff. The sect leader continued before he could question it.
“Nonetheless, with Shan Shou Peak not being an option, Maomi-xiansheng will need another place to stay, at least until Lan-shimei is back. Since it was Liu-shidi who brought him here, perhaps he wouldn’t mind housing Maomi-xiansheng until then?”
“En,” Liu Qingge nodded, after a moment of thought. “I do not mind.”
Yue Qingyuan smiled in response.
“Thanking shidi.”
And thus, Shen Yuan moved in with Liu Qingge.

Run Rabbit Run Rabbit AU
A-Yuan accidentally triggers a experimental talisman near the blood pool and is transformed into a bunny as witnessed by Wei Wuxian. It's easily reversed but Wei Wuxian realises the talisman is reusable and has a Idea.
A month later as the cultivation world panics over the disappearance of Wei Wuxian and the Wen Remnants, on a totally unrelated note Lan Wangji is puzzling over the sudden appearance of 30ish raggedy half starved Bunnies in the Gusa back hills.
Because let's be honest those fluffballs are spoilt rotten and live better lives than the Wen Remnants and the Wen Remnants deserve a bit of spoiling.
Lan Wangji decidedly refuses to exorcise the Fierce Corpse Bunny because its harmless and a timid sweetie, also they're rabbits. It's Lan Wangji's opinion that If a fluffy bunny comes back to life and tries to kill you then clearly you deserve anything and everything that's coming to you.
Wei Wuxian probably reveals himself at some point to Lan Wangji, probably because Lan Wangji confesses his love for the missing Wei Wuxian in front of bunny Wei Wuxian who drops the transformation out of shock.
Takes place after Lan Wangji's visit to Yiling.
____________________________
Wen Qing was going to bury him six feet under once she found out what he’d done. Not to say that it was his fault! He was trying out some new talismans and A’ Yuan just happened to come into his cave. Now normally, Wei Wuxian would drop everything to go play with his previous radish but he was so close to finishing his idea that he gave A’ Yuan some random paper to draw on to keep him busy.
“Ow!” A’ Yuan cried as his finger was pricked against a sharp rock. Wei Wuxian watched as his blood dropped onto a talisman that had been stuck to the back of the paper and activate.
“Shit! A’ Yuan!!” Wei Wuxian scrambled to try and stop the talisman but it was too late.
When the glow from the talisman cleared. A’ Yuan was nowhere to be found. However…..a bunny took his place.
Wei Wuxian blinked. “A’ Yuan?” He asked slowly.
The bunny nodded.
Wei Wuxian sat slowly down and brought the bunny A’ Yuan to his lap. He needed to process for a bit.
He picked up the talisman that had just activated and quickly wrote down the design of it.
Animal transformation.
How had he not thought of this before?! With this, the Wens could escape from this place and be safe! Cause no one would think to look for bunnies. But…where could they go? There had to be a place that they could survive in. Bunnies were prey animals so they were often hunted by bigger predators.
Suddenly, a voice rang in his head. Pets are forbidden.
Gusu.
If they went there, where animals were scarce, then maybe….they could survive.
It was a gamble. But they were living on borrowed time anyways.
Wen Qing walked into the cave just as a plan cemented in his mind. She looked around and seemed like she was about to scold him when he sprung the plan on her.
She was quiet for a bit, then asked two things.
One, if Wen Ning could be transformed. And two, where was A’ Yuan?
To the first question, Wei Wuxian called Wen Ning right away and it worked pretty well. To the second, he wrote a reversing talisman placed it on both Wen Ning and A’ Yuan and hid behind Wen Ning to avoid the needles.
Wen Qing yelled at him for being careless with his talismans but agreed to bring the plan up with the others.
“And make sure to improve the talisman do we could choose when to become human or bunny. It’ll be difficult to have one of us constantly stay human in order to write up the reversing talismans.”
Wei Wuxian agreed - but only for the reversing to be done by him, Wen Qing, and Wen Ning. It was safer that way. - and got right to work.
……………………
Three days later, Wei Wuxian bought new robes to disguise himself and brought the Wen remnants turned bunnies to Gusu. It was easy enough to break through their wards and transport the bunnies every so often as he couldn’t take all of them in one go. It took a few weeks to get them all transferred but it was done. Luckily, it seemed like there was already a bunny warren near Lan Wangji’s house.
With his notes and inventions safely buried underneath Lan Wangji’s house, Wei Wuxian turned himself into a bunny and happily hopped around his new home.
………………………….
Lan Wangji returned from his recent night hunt only to see a multitude of new bunnies that had somehow appeared overnight.
It seemed like they had moved due to sparse food due to how thin they all looked. Lan Wangji immediately went to the kitchens to ask for some rabbit food and got to feeding them all and building a bigger burrow for them.
As he returned he noticed how one of them looked odd. Like it was too stiff or something. He picked up the rabbit and realized that it was an undead. Despite this, Lan Wangji did not purify the poor thing. Because if a bunny held such resentment towards you that it came back to life just to kill you, then you probably deserve it.
In any case, there were a ton more bunnies abound and Lan Wangji basked in their fluffiness for a good shichen.
He was content.
......................................
Until he wasn't.
It had been a month since the bunnies arrived and Lan Wangji recently got the news that Wei Ying and the Wens had disappeared from the Burial Mounds.
Apparently, a Jin disciple had passed by the Mounds and while there was usually a barrier to ward off intruders, nothing was there except for some decaying houses.
Everyone was in a panic not knowing where they went and soon a hunt was organized for them. Lan Wangji was angered by this, knowing that Wei Ying had done no wrong.
He stomped to the bunny fields and aggressively but gently pet a bunch of the bunnies.
"Those people--" He hissed. "Xiongzhang too! I cannot believe he would just....ignore my words! I told him. I told him the truth about the Wen Remnants Wei Ying rescued and he would still believe Jin Guangyao over me!"
A cold nose bumped against his cheek. The black bunny he'd been petting perhaps sensed his turmoil and nuzzled against him. He petted the adorable thing more.
Lan Wangji sighed angrily. "Why does Xiongzhang not believe me?" He whispered mournfully. "I'm not my father. I don't--I'm not--"
The bunny in his arms chirped and a bunch of other bunnies piled on top of him. Lan Wangji soon forgot about his angers and simply fell asleep buried in the warmth. It's not like he has anything else to do today.
.....................................
Wei Wuxian was amazed. Wow. Lan Zhan talks so much to his bunny friends.
It had been a year or so since then and Wei Wuxian and the Wens had regained their lost weight, enjoying the rabbit food - mainly vegetables - that they've been given. Perhaps because of his rabbit form or because he hadn't had good food in years, he quite enjoyed these meals without complaint.
Wei Wuxian received news of the outside world from Lan Zhan and his various complaints and sighed in relief that the search for them had stopped. But Lan Zhan...... He sighed, his heart warming. Lan Zhan really did his best to support him. Wei Wuxian had never though Lan Zhan would go so far for him. But perhaps he should have expected it. Lan Zhan was too good.
But.....he seemed sad recently.
A year after Wei Wuxian had "disappeared" from the world, Lan Wangji began playing sad songs on his guqin and sighing Wei Wuxian's name mournfully. He sometimes even played that song he played Wei Wuxian in the Xuanwu cave and Wei Wuxian didn't know why his heart ached so much.
He wanted to comfort Lan Wangji in his human form and tell him that everything would be alright, but he couldn't risk being seen. He could only do his best to smother his in bunny fluff.
It was always seemed to make Lan Zhan smile.
......
Lan Wangji finally confessed what he was worrying about two years later. He plopped down gracefully in the bunny field and Wei Wuxian hopped towards him. He was subsequently picked up and give the best pets ever when Lan Wangji spoke.
"If I knew he would leave the cultivation world for good, I shouldn't have been afraid to say all that I wanted to say to him.
Wei Wuxian titled his bunny head at him.
“I should have told Wei Ying that I loved him. That all I wanted to do was take him back here and protect him."
Wei Wuxian.exe stopped working for a good few minutes. Then he rebooted and felt his body heat up as his mind filtered through a series of ????? and ?!!!!! and !!!!!!!.
Lan Zhan......Lan Zhan likes- no, loves me?! In that way????? How long???
And then.
I have a chance? Then his mind computed what he just thought of and flushed red. No. No, no, no. It couldn't be that I......I like him too? But, I mean, it makes sense. I obsessed over him so much in my youth and was even so worried about being on his bad side. But....ahhhhh! What do I do? What should I say? I wasn't prepared to hear anything like this!
Wei Wuxian was so deep into his own panic that he didn't see the stiffening of Lan Wangji's hands as his transformation was undone. He only realized when Lan Wangji spoke in a cracked voice, "Wei Ying?"
Wei Wuxian looked down at Lan Wangji from where he was perched in in lap and promptly combusted. "A-Ah, Lan Zhan. Funny seeing you here, hahaha....."
"Wei Ying?" Lan Wangji looked so confused that Wei Wuxian would have pinched his cheeks had he been less panicked. "What--How?"
Wei Wuxian was caught. "Ah....well, it's a bit of a long story."
Lan Wangji stared at him, unblinking.
"Umm, so. This is what happened....." Wei Wuxian had distracted Lan Wangji with the journey so far but he knew he would eventually have to talk to Lan Wangji about what he heard and about his own feelings.
But for now, Wei Wuxian settled himself comfortably in Lan Wangji's lap and spoke.

I love a modern-AU dadfics as much as anyone, but we have to stop glossing over how Wei Wuxian adopting A-Yuan would impact the Wens. Because if he does, something has gone terribly wrong for them and it would absolutely affect everyone involved.
The issue is that A-Yuan has primary caregivers other than Wei Wuxian who should be taking care of him, and if they're not in the picture then there’s going to be a reason why. The first person missing is Granny Wen, who is Wen Yuan’s actual caregiver in mdzs and would most likely be taking care of him. Unfortunately in most dad!xian fics she's immediately fridged or has her grandchild taken away from her due to her age off-screen—which would be deeply traumatic for everyone involved, especially if she’s subsequently unable to be involved in her grandchild's life.
The second person who would be taking care of A-Yuan before Wei Wuxian is Wen Qing. Sometimes the in-fic reason for her not being his caregiver is due to unavoidable circumstances (usually financial issues, which like. yikes), but most of the time it comes down to Wen Qing not really… wanting? to be a caregiver, often because she’s too busy or is putting her career first or is just too much of a GirlBoss. So she chooses to adopt out Wen Yuan to Wei Wuxian (again, off-screen) and that's the end of that.
Listen. Not everyone wants to be a parent. Not everyone should be a parent, or can. It’s a reasonable and valid decision to prioritize other parts of your life over parenthood—especially if being a parent or caregiver wasn’t your choice in the first place. But Wen Qing is going to have SOME kind of feeling about letting A-Yuan be adopted out of her family, and that feeling is probably going to be complicated or bittersweet, if not painful. Not only because she’s, you know, a human being with emotions, but Wen Qing’s primary motivation in the book is to take care of her family and keep them together. So her deciding “nah, I’m too much of a girlboss to be a caregiver, here’s a free kid and I’m going to feel absolutely nothing about this cause it’d be inconvenient for the fluff” is not only a dismissal of how complicated that decision would be for her, it’s also wildly out of character. No matter what the reason is, she's going to feel something about it.
(I’m not getting into how Wen Ning is never tapped as another potential caregiver btw because we're really not ready to talk about ableism just yet)
If you love the idea of Wei Wuxian adopting A-Yuan in your modern au, there’s are a couple of changes that can address this. One is to make Wen Yuan not related to Wen Qing and the shared surname is just a coincidence, like Lan Jingyi. Another is to have them be a blended family where they’re all caregivers for A-Yuan, or have Wei Wuxian be his primary caregiver but help A-Yuan actively maintain a connection to his family of origin. Or have Wei Wuxian adopt A-Yuan but the Wens actually get have feelings about it for once, regardless of why it happens—sorrow, frustration, relief, gratitude, regret, something. Let Wen Qing have complicated feelings and let them shape her relationship with Wei Wuxian, too, for better or worse or just messier. Maybe even let Wei Wuxian, who was also separated from his family of origin and is a walking ball of family trauma, have complicated feelings about it as well! Or go the extra mile and let A-Yuan have some emotions about it for once, because regardless of the context the loss or change of support structures is traumatic, especially for a small human.
Anyway read A Temporary Fix by Bosgood for your complex Wen family feels (feat. Lan Wangji adopting Wen Yuan, because all of this goes the same for him as well).

YilingWei Sect AU: Sect Heir + a few changes
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Click here for the YilingWei Sect Masterlist
___________________
Our very own Sect Heir! Wei Yuan, Courtesy name Sizhui (brought to you by someone who still yearns a certain man). The adopted son of Wei Wuxian and heir to the sect.
Born and practically raised by a man-child, Wei Yuan is nothing short of a mischievious child much like his father. The only difference is he has more restraint, and more often than not is subtle in his mischief.
He’s strong-willed and diligent, a very caring shixiong towards his fellow disciples and much to everyone’s surprise: He’s the laid back shixiong while Mxy’s the strict one.
Wei Yuan is adept in medical cultivation being taught by his aunt/the head physician. He’s also talented with a bow, being inspired by Wen Ning’s story about how Wwx was the best archerer in their generation.
In the Wei sect it is encourages that disciples wield at least 2 weapons with ease, since circumstances can never be predicted. Mo Xuanyu has a sword but his fan is his main weapon, Xue Yang has twin daggers and Xiao Qing is adept with a spear. On the other hand disciples like Wei Yuan choose instruments as a secondary weapon.
Although he’s not as talented in talismanry and array study like Mxy he’s the best swordsman among his peers. He knows how to play the guqin but only slightly, the only lessons he ever got was from this certain man a long time ago…

CHANGES:
I think the most visible change is the sect emblem here. Before, it was an intricate dreamcatcher-like design of the Stygian Tiger Seal because it was the only thing I could think of back then. Now the emblem is a Black Bamboo Stalk with red outlines and black smoke in the background.
There’s a small detail in my AU to explain this, the bamboo is the sect’s foundation for many things: they make houses with it, instruments, paper, sigils, harvested for food and so on. It was the only resource they had in the BM and without it they wouldn’t have survived.
The black smoke on the other hand represents Wei Wuxian and his cultivation, which kept Yiling safe from outside dangers, obviously the sect wouldn’t have formed without it.
And since the emblem changed I figured the pattern on their robes should as well. It’s different for each disciple but one thing remains consistent: the repeated circular pattern on the edge and the black smoke. WY’s and MXY’s robes have bamboo patterns, showing that they represent the sect right after WWX, and additionally, WY has a blossom patterned fabric wrapped around his skirt to represent his small family of Wen healers.

Mxtx can artfully weave in a bitch of a theme because the discourse on what it means to raise a child in mdzs is absolutely god tier AND THATS NOT EVEN THE MAIN THEME

I've been writing way too much fic set around the post war, burial mounds times and shortly after WWX's death which happens to make them all into kid fics since A-Yuan is around and like,,,
I feel like we always make wangxian's parenting go over pretty smoothly because Wen Yuan/Lan Sizhui is such sweet boy, but I feel the need to torture them just a little bit. It sounds so funny to me to think of either LWJ or WWX, filled with a strong cultivators stamina, being defeated by tiny tiny A-Yuan who wants to run around, and would like to play the whole day, and no would not like to go to sleep yet!
Children are adorable, but also exhausting. Imagine Lan Wangji, gracefully yet exhaustedly sat on the floor in the jingshi, just home from a full day in Caiyi with 7 year olds Sizhui and Jingyi, and he would just like a break please, but their little hands are softly shaking him (as Lan kids will not be too roudy, but also... children) and asking if he can come outside, because they'd like to show him a thing just over there, and it's extremely important!!
He should get to have a Loid (spy x family) moment where he passes out and the kids decide to cuddle him and join in the nap and then he wakes up like "what? how???" utterly surprised that his cultivator stamina has failed him this time.

HEY!!
Wei Wuxian's first game he played was Minecraft. Why? Because the first YouTuber he watched had a really calm voice and he liked what the man was able to build. So, he was able to ask his parents to let him built it at least on his phone. It's cheap enough and he still gets to be able to build stuff!!
As he grows up and gets a stable job, he is able to build himself a descent gaming PC. Of course his first game, he downloads is Minecraft. The buildings he makes get more and more detailed and he tries to find the limits of the game and his building skills. He gets surprised by the game and himself every day.
Does he follow in his favorite YouTubers foodsteps? No. He doesn't have the voice to do what he did. Wei Wuxian knows he doesn't have to do the same things as him. His building, planning and rambling while planning is most likely fun enough but still, it doesn't feel right!
So he leaves the thought for now...
He adopts A-Yuan. Wen Ning is old school friend, who is the only one that stayed in contact with him and still loves to come over and watch him simply build things. A-Yuan's parents...didn't want him and have told him to wait in the parking space in front of the youth help center that Wen Ning works in. He wanted to talk to a youth on the bench like he most of the time does, when they want to talk with him. Only, their was a kid sitting on that same bench with a big bag next to it.
The youth help center is not the right place for a three year old...so Wen Ning brings him to the closest orphanage he trusts and has worked with before. Right after he was at his sisters private doctors office. The kid is a bit malnourished and shows signs of neglect. Somehow he is still a quite happy kid, if a bit clingy but if he was neglected then that makes sense. So yeah, Wen Ning, after talking with the kid some more, is sure that Wei Wuxian and A-Yuan would be a good match.
The kid loves is baba from day one!
Wei Wuxian had made him a small little doll out of some fabric, a simple little ghost. Telling A-Yuan that he can give it a name and with the fabricmarkers he brought along he can give it a face. If he does that, it will become his friend and will protect him from bad thoughts.
A-Yuan loves his ghost friend, he loves his baba, loves his new grandparents that gush over him and Wen Ning is always welcomed with two big smiles instead of one now, when he comes to visit.
The only problem that A-Yuan has are the nightmare's and recently also night terrors. Wei Wuxian doesn't know how to help him at first. Wen Qing tells him to make sure A-Yuan gets enough sleep and a sleeping schedule, also to make sure that when he falls asleep he is relaxed and feeling safe.
Wei Wuxian try's. Reading him nice and easy bedtime stories, staying in bed until he fell asleep and having a bedtime routine that slow's down their evening after dinner time. Still, A-Yuan either wakes from a nightmare and they stay up together. He stays with him, hugs him, comforts him. At this point A-Yuan's bed looks like a cocoon or a nest, with all the blankets and plushies there to help him sleep. He made a nightlight for his little radish out of fairylights and some cotton. Creating a sky with clouds on the celling. The lights having been programed to have diffrent colour combo's depending on which sky view calms his child down the most that night. Even a stupid air defuser that defuses scents...at least the sandalwood smells nice...Wei Wuxian will have to ask Wen Ning from who he got the idea for the defuser with that scent. Other day, one thing at a time.
♫•*¨*•.¸¸♪
Wei Wuxian had to pick up his little radish up from daycare today. He had fallen asleep while drawing something and when they noticed he showed already signs of a nighmare. So the caretaker called him, after they woke him up he started crying for his baba. Wei Wuxian got off of work immediately and was at home with A-Yuan in record time. He got the same talk he already had from Wen Qing but this time without having asked about it. Plus, it sounded like they think he is overwhelmed with the care of A-Yuan. Assholes...just because he is a single dad doesn't mean THAT'S the reason why A-Yuan has nightmare's. He is the only dad bringing his kid there...he'll find a new daycare for his little radish, one that doesn't have such old shitty view on parenting.
To calm A-Yuan down and make sure his child knows "you did nothing wrong, you hear my little radish". He sits him on his lap and plays Minecraft. First he isn't sure but the moment A-Yuan see's his butterfly garden he had made with all the butterfly's he could find. Using the cape to fly around with them, A-Yuan felt already a bit better. After that, Wei Wuxian continues his rebuild of the Himeji castle he has been working on for the last months and telling A-Yuan the history of it and the folklore about it. He is so concentrated that he doesn't realise when A-Yuan fell asleep in his lap, head resting on his left arm. He lets A-Yaun sleep together in his bed for this one time. No nightmare's and no night terror's, A-Yuan wakes up before his baba and has so much energy for the first time. He us so happy and wakes Wei Wuxian up with the happiest giggle and strongest hug an three year old can accomplish.
Wei Wuxian gets an idea. It's a good one, a really good one. As he gives A-Yuan to Wen Ning for the day, because there is no way he lets him back to that shitty daycare, he goes to work on his idea. His smart little radish is suspicious why his baba hands him to Wen Ning, when it is Wei Wuxian's free day and they usually go into the woods to just walk around and get icecream after. He doesn't mind though, Wen Ning promised to do it with him, so all is good. Baba is at home when they get back. Wei Wuxian and Wen Ning promised with a pinky promise and you never break a pinky promise.
Wei Wuxian finishes his brilliant idea in record time. The location is made ascetically to perfection, music picked befitting the mood and sounds he remembers A-Yuan relaxing with. When A-Yuan gets home with somehow having icecream in his hair, they fall into their little evening routine. The only thing that changes is, Wei Wuxian tucks him into bed, he has not just the fairytale book but also a tablet with him. He plugs the tablet so it is charging on A-Yuan's nightstand and pulls up YouTube. Going on the new account he made just for this and clicks on the only video on the account this far. A-Yuan's eyes are fixed on the screen as he see's is a comfortable looking home made by his baba in Minecraft. The video just shows one engle of the house interior. A soft lit room with a big stone brick fireplace, with a painting on top. The fire moving and creating small clouds of smoke that travels out of the fireplace, up through the chimney. He can make out some more lamps lighting the room in a soft orange glow. A big long window to hte left of the video lets him see outside, showing that the house is a wood cabin. It is raining outside the wood cabin, which creates the sound of rain hitting a wooden roof. The sound is hushed, giving one the feeling of a warm blanket or hoodie around oneself. The rain is not the only sound though, there is also relaxing music playing. A piano humming the main melody, slow and low with occasional higher notes to give it a care free feeling. String instruments come in softly to hug you in a short but sweet embrace. Every now and then the music will quiet down to let the rain pull you unter the blankets even more, before coming back in and adding lightness to it all.
A-Yuan's shoulders and breathing relax and even out respectively as he take in the pretty image his baba had build him. Wei Wuxian lets his son make himself comfortable, ehile he makes sure that the video is full screen and the tablet's brightness as low as it can go. Then, just as softly as the music, he starts telling the story he picked to go along with the video. A-Yuan is asleep in no time at all. Checking the video on more time, the time is only on fifteen minutes. So still nine hours and forty-five minutes left of it. He hopes his little radish can sleep with this and will wake up to it in the morning, not in the middle of the night this time.
Wei Wuxian stays up a little longer to finish up on the Himeji castle, until it is normally around the time A-Yuan gets his nightmare's but when he goes to check, his little radish is still perfectly sleeping. The soflt music and rain still playing next to him on the nightstand. The light of the video and nightlight above him lighting up his peaceful face. The sandalwood a pleasant smell in the air, maybe the next video can have sandalwood tree's in it and guqin playing. How knows, all he knows is that he wants to follow his son into the land of dreams.
So he closes the door of A-Yuan's room with care and tiptoes to his own room across the hall and lets himself fall into bed. He'll ask Wen Ning tomorrow how gave him the sandalwood scent defuser, so he can thank them personally.
...
Okay, so I just wanted to make a post about Wei Wuxian make these relaxing Minecraft music and rain for 10 hours video's. Not...make a drabble fic...but yeah. I used one last night to fall asleep and when I woke up, I just baba Wei Ying and little radish A-Yuan go! Tell everyone! So there you have...uh..this!
I didn't proof read any of this..so if there are mistakes, to come for me. If you like it, good. You're welcome! (*˘︶˘*).。.:*♡

Jing Yuan x Wife Reader
Genre: Fluff
Warnings ⚠️: Reader is called wife, Dad jing yuan, reader and yanqing have a close relationship, family, Abit dramatic, slight angst-Fluff, mentions of deed
To avoid confusion yangqing is green and jing yuan is blue
Author’s note: dilf jing yuan that’s it he got me hooked from day one🫶
“Its so thoughtful that Qingni asked the palace of Astrum to help her for Mother's Day this year” you mumbled, which Fu Xuan clearly heard and that made her eye brow raise.

It was a nice day to begin with the streets of xianzhou luofu filled with flowers displayed for people to buy and the huge sale for chocolates and gifts.
Which leads you here today with Fu Xuan drinking tea at Starkiff Haven, drinking tea by the bridge, where Mr. Xiyan also shares stories.
She doesn't think it's a good sign when she sees a slight pout on your lips, and you've been sighing so many times that she's lost count.
And how you keep mentioning todays agenda mother’ day.
Just a few hours ago, you dragged her off to the divination and asked her for a stroll to clear something in your mind.
You didn't speak about it but instead looked at the flower shops and families that passed by with sad eyes.
Fu xuan felt bad
“Did something happen at home with the general? ”She asked, hoping to get this off your back and rant it open to her.
As your mood went unpleasant, the teacup returned to the saucer with a loud thud.
"It's just some men are very ignorant and suddenly they don't have time for you" you exclaimed out to Fu Xuan.
"But I guess it can't be helped afterall we all grow apart" you grumbled again before wrapping it up and thanking Fu Xuan for her company, even though you dragged her.
She watched as your form dissapeared from the crowd. Normally, she wouldn't engage in the affairs of the general and his wife.
But perhaps she could turn your day frowny to bright-eyed. She only needed to give someone an earful of scolding, and Fu Xuan knew exactly who it was.
———
Tracking down the general was the easiest thing considering all he does is stay in one or two places. She might thank Lan for giving the luofu a laid-back general.
"Jing Yuan!" She huffed and gave the general a frustrated look, shocking the general who was finishing the last pile of papers of the day.
"I must be in deep trouble lady diviner what do i owe the pleasure-"
"How can you be so neglectful to your wife!"
Neglectful? Was that how you felt over the previous few days? Is that why you stayed up all night and wait for him?
though perhaps he has been busy and forgot his husbandly duties, but he did greet you last night before dozing off and greet you earlier this morning with roses and a delicious breakfast in the garden, which you appreciated and smiled at him.
What has he done to make you this sad and cause the lady diviner this angry.
"I spent the morning with my wife, diviner fu, and waited until the clock struck 12 to greet her. Did I miss anything?" Jing Yuan was puzzled.
———
You walked till your feet ached, seeking to clear your mind from today's event, which couldn't be helped as you went by others who acknowledged today's agenda
Well i guess it can’t be helped
Perhaps ending this night with a warm bath and a glass of wine wouldn't hurt. You deserve it. You patted yourself on the shoulder before walking back home.
Something feels odd. There were rose petals around your home and a few lighted candles. The lights were turned to a warmer tone to suit the ambiance.
"Jing Yuan, are you home?" You spoke before following the trails of roses when you got no response and entered your shared room with your husband.
There lays the dozing general partly naked, one hand holding a bottle of wine and the other holding two empty glasses.
“Yuan what is this?” You asked strangely looking at your husband. You knew he was a romantic guy, but he wouldn't generally do this type of thing at home.
Especially if yanqing is near
Oh boy, he walked in on you two doing the deed and didn't speak to either of you for a day straight.
"Shhh, my beautiful wife, how about you relax yourself and let me do all the work?" The white-haired man spoke standing up and handing you the bouquet of flowers sitting on the bedside table.
"Yuan, you didn't have to do this. You already spoiled me enough today with the breakfast at the garden, not to mention you bought me gifts" you smiled, tucking his fluffy hair behind his ear.
That bewildered the man in front of you. If you were so pleased today, why did Fu Xuan upsetly scold him for an hour straight and tell him to step up his game with you.
"What's with the long face, Yuan?" You said, tilting your head, wondering what he was thinking.
“I thought you were mad at me”
“Yuan why would i be mad at you?”
"Lady Fu Xuan visited me this afternoon after you had tea with her” he said, soothing your face so that you could make eye contact with him.
"Yes, I recall texting you that beloved” you murmured.
"She said you were saddened by today's event; do you want me to host a big party for your wife?" Jing Yuan questioned with concern, his hands leaving your face and tracing little circles all over your back.
"No, it's not that I wasn't able to make it clear to Fu Xuan before; it has nothing to do with you, dear; you treat me so nicely, why would I be angry at you?"
"Nevertheless, my wife, I apologise if I make you feel neglected. Please tell me, wife, and I will fix myself for you" Jing Yuan said as he kissed your knuckles and nibbled your wrist.
A deep flush appears on your face, followed by his name and a light scolding for him. Oh, Jing Yuan, he knows what he's doing.
You watched as he sat down on the bed and pulled you to sit on his lap, burrying himself at your neck. "Now that I know you're not upset at me, may i know what's got you riled up, wife?" Jing Yuan mumbles at your neck before glancing at you and giving your chin a peck.
"Now that you mentioned it” a slight pout appears at the corner of your mouth. "Yanqing" you chirp.
"Yuan, have I been a bad mother?" Your voice is pleading and your eyes are getting glossy.
“My wife you will never be a bad mother infact our yanqing adores you-“
"Stop sugarcoating Yuan, if he adores his mother so much, he should be making me a card or saying happy Mother's Day mom" you ranted tiredly before pressing your forehead on Jing Yuan.
"I'm just saying we're losing Yanqing, and who knows if he still sees me as his mother" you whisper, a tear forming in the corner of your eye.
It was silent, but it felt nice to have the love of your life hug you and soothe the sobs you let out, never telling you to stop.
———
Jing Yuan put you on the bed an hour after you cried out to him about your worries. He makes sure to speak with Yanqing in the morning, but tonight his main focus is on you.
He watched as you dozed off on the silky pillows, your face a little swollen from sobbing, but Jing Yuan adores every version of you. And he wouldn't have it any other way.
A small knock on the door interrupted his thoughts, snapping him back to reality. He carefully stood up, making sure not to shift the bed and wake you up.
There he is the mastermind behind your tears yanqing
"Oh" Yanqing said, not expecting Jing Yuan to open the door. "Oh indeed my child, do you need anything?" He chuckled quietly.
"Is Mom there?" I made a card for her as promised, and I won't stop giving her cards for every occasion." Yanqing stated clearly unaware of the circumstances.
"Yuan, who is there?" You questioned, voice sluggish. You seemed woken up by the conversation, and he then opens the door slightly for you to see Yanqing.
"My baby" you sat up fast, watching him make his way to you and giving you a card he drew with the words "Happy Mother's Day" written on it.
"Happy Mother's Day, Mom," Yanqing said, hugging you warmly "I thought you forgot about me”
“Never mom i love you more than the general”
“You do know i’m here yanqing?”
———
Bonus:
Jing Yuan yawned, sitting on the floor, his head resting at the corner of the bed. He watch as yanqing take his bed space while you two slumber warmly.
"Maybe next year, Jing Yuan” he whispers to himself. They say jealousy is a ugly thing.

FIRST DATES — [HONKAI: STAR RAIL]
Tumblr media Tumblr media
characters: welt, gepard, sampo, jing yuan, tingyun, kafka content: gn! reader, food/eating in jing yuan’s and kafka’s, mentions of drinking (tea!) in tingyun’s
Tumblr media
welt yang ✶
you love the way the lights of the stars reflect in welt’s eyes as the astral express rockets through the galaxy. he points out a line of stars, telling you, “that’s lan the reignbow’s constellation.”
the observatory car on the astral express is surprisingly underutilized. You figure it’s because you can see the universe through every window of the train. but the observatory car is special; the windows stretch from the ceiling to the floor and the seating is oriented to face outwards. there’s a robotic guide that you can ask questions to, but you turned it off when welt and you settled into the car. he’s better than any automated infobot.
you blink at the thousands of stars that dot the sky and squint. “i don’t see it.”
welt chuckles and stands, holding his hand out. you take it and he leads you to the window, using your intertwined hands to trace the outline of the constellation. “see?” he asks, as patient and affectionate as ever. “there’s his arm and his bow stretched to the sky. it’s quite an extraordinary sight.”
you know it’s a damn cliché, but you’re only focused on the calm on welt’s face and the glimmer in his eye as you reply, “yeah, it is.”
when you turn to face the constellation, you don’t realize that welt does the exact same thing.
Tumblr media
gepard landau ✶
this is actually your third attempt at a first date with gepard. the first two were, unsurprisingly, interrupted by an urgent matter he had to attend to with the silvermane guards and pela calling because she needed help getting a drunk serval home safely. (serval felt so bad about stealing her brother away that she sent you a pretty bouquet of flowers the next day.)
you figure out that paying for movie tickets and making reservations is pointless, given the unpredictability of when gepard will be needed again so you decide instead to just take a walk around belabog.
your walk quickly turns into a game of ‘stay away from the silvermane guards because you know gepard will rush to fix any problems they have and you’ll be damned if he’s taken away from you again.’
“i’ve never actually read these before,” gepard admits to you as you stand in front of the wall plastered with posters of famous belobogian plays and movies. you stand close together, arms brushing, as he pauses to read the captions.
out of the corner of your eye, you see the familiar glint of silver and blue armor and you quickly slip your hand into gepard’s. “let’s go make a wish in the fountain.” you drag him along, praying that he doesn’t see dunn on patrol. that guy always has something to say and it’s usually asking about serval.
when you glance back, your pleasantly surprised to see dunn nowhere in sight and a pink tint to gepard’s face.
Tumblr media
sampo koski ✶
leave it to sampo to take you to the fight club on your first date. “got us premium, front row tickets to the hottest fight in town,” sampo says as he leads you with a hand on the small of your back into the fight club.
“can’t anyone just walk in?” you ask him.
he wags his finger at you, smile broad and blindingly white. “not this one!”
you find yourself smiling at his enthusiasm. “alright, well, thank you for bringing me then.”
sampo replies, “anything for my favorite person.”
when he walks in, dr. dig rushes up to him. “where’ve you been, man? you’re ten minutes late!”
“sorry, sorry,” sampo says, though he doesn’t sound apologetic in the least. he nudges you towards dr. dig. “take care of this one while i’m occupied.”
you raise an eyebrow. “and where are you off to?”
sampo’s smile only widens. “didn’t i tell you? i’m fighting in this tournament.” your eyes widen and sampo continues, “and if i win all my rounds, you’ll go out with me again, right? please say yes or else you’ll break my fragile little heart.”
Tumblr media
jing yuan ✶
jing yuan’s already lounging on the picnic blanket when his secretary shows you to the gardens. his eyes lift and a slow smile spreads across his face. “a sight for sore eyes,” he says as you sit down with him. there’s an array of xianzhou delicacies like berrypheasant skewers, songlotus cakes, and tuskpir wraps.
you’re a little shy under jing yuan’s gaze, carefully lifting a cake to your mouth and taking a bite, the cake making its signature laughing sound as you do. as you chew, jing yuan reaches over and tilts your chin up with his fingers, thumb coming to graze the corner of your mouth.
your face explodes into flames as he says, “just some crumbs,” in that low drawl. it sends pleasant shivers down your spine.
as you finish your cake, jing yuan stretches up with a groan and looks at you with half-lidded eyes. “would you mind if i rested? i’m quite tired from the day.”
“not at all,” you reply but you don’t expect him to lay his head in your lap. your face feels even hotter but you choose to rub your fingers through his hair, massaging his scalp. you swear you hear jing yuan purr.
“tell me about your day,” he says. “i like hearing your voice.”
Tumblr media
tingyun ✶
tingyun’s fluffy tail brushes against your leg as mengming leads you to a table. “do you come here often?” you ask her.
she giggles, “i think you need a better pick up line.”
you pout a little. “it was a genuine question, tingyun.”
“i know, i’m just teasing,” she says. “yes, i come here when i need a break, which doesn’t really happen often but mengming has the best tea.”
“what do you like here?”
she hums and says, “i like their immortal tea. it’s a good amount of sweetness and a great price too. it’s definitely a favorite.”
you nod, glancing at the menu. then, you look back at her sitting across from you and say, “did you do something new to your ears? they look extra soft today.”
“oh! you noticed! yes, it’s a new shampoo,” she says. with a wink, she tells you, “keep talking like that and you’ll be a favorite of mine too!”
Tumblr media
kafka ✶
you narrowly dodge an attack from one of the citadel’s soldiers, instead dropping down and using your momentum to kick out the soldier’s leg instead. they drop instantly and it allows you to dive off the side of the municipal building, opening up a portal.
you land besides kafka, who’s already inside the building’s main ballroom. all the entrances and exits are sealed off due to the lockdown protocol, and you have no doubt that kafka incapacitated all the soldiers who had the misfortune of running into her.
you look around the grand room, then at her and say, “this is an odd place for a stellaron.” even odder, there’s a table in the middle of the room with lit candles, glasses of red wine, and plates of rich pastas. the gramophone in the corner plays a languid, elegant violin concerto.
kafka says, “that’s because there isn’t one here.”
you tilt your head. “come again?”
she chuckles and pats your cheek. “you’re so cute. i made the whole thing up. apologies but i wanted to surprise you for our first date.”
you blink owlishly at her as she sits down at the table, placing the napkin delicately on her lap. she looks at you expectantly and you snap out of your surprise, a small laugh leaving your own lips. you slide into your own seat. “you certainly have a flair for the dramatics, kafka.”
she smirks. “had to make an impression.” she lifts her wine glass and you do the same, clinking them together. as always, kafka achieved her goal. you don’t think you’ll ever forget this first date.

All Jiang Cheng Ships Are Bad and You Should Feel Bad, a non-comprehensive list:
xicheng? Trying to upstage wx by taking the #1 eligible bachelor for your ugly #5 blorbo. As IF!
chengxian? Literal incest literally literally. Even more incestuous in MXY's body. That's THREE JL uncles?
zhancheng? Fiction is REAL and you are making your fugly slut into a HOMEWRECKER!!
zhanchengxian? Ummm first of all, everyone knows that fictional mlm only need a mommy (bottom) and daddy (top). What would he even do? 🙄
sangcheng? WWX barely even mentions NHS and JC interacting, and since he was gone for 9 months of the GSL lectures and then dead for 13 years, I think he'd know!!
mingcheng? What, just because he's tall and strong and WWX teases JC about NMJ? Great OTP, idiot. He's not even in the top five eligible bachelor list.
chengyao? Infidelity much?? Or are women not REAL to you?
chengsu? WHY ARE YOU OBSESSED WITH BREAKING UP THEIR MARRIAGE?? Also she has like two lines of dialogue, they have clearly never spoken before. 🙄
3zuncheng? More like JC's healing bussy. Which is NOT healing, FYI.
chengqing? Well Wen Qing is canonically a lesbian who's repulsed by men. Sooo lesbophobic.
chengning? Get your necrophiliac hands OFF my uncomplicated sweet baby Wen Ning!!
chengxuan? Oh my god, do you not even care about Jin Ling!
rencheng? LAN QIREN IS AROACE. PROOF?? IT'S FUNNY. Aphobe much??
zhucheng? Oh my god, WZL is literally at work. I suppose you'd write JC harassing baristas, too?
chaocheng? This is double homewrecking.
zhuicheng? Barf!! In my version of the novel, JC constantly tried to murder every Wen survivor and said he'd eat a-Yuan!!
chengyi? It's sooo curious that you just recreated the chengxian dynamic without the real incest... Stealth chengxian shipper.
zhencheng? Who's Ouyang Zizhen?? Oh, right. AGE GAP!!!
xuecheng? Why would JC care about an orphan street kid with a lot of resentment? That's right... chengxian III: The Return.
OC/JC? Kind of telling that you had to make up a guy to ship with your blorbo... Unlike LWJ, who was specifically designed for WWX by the author, this is just sad.
JC/reader? Love yourself.

Now this is meaner than i like to be when talking about fandom because i am pro people having fun and doing what they want and playing around with dynamics. So let me preface by saying that if you like this headcanon there's nothing wrong with you and I hope you have a great day. That said, aside from the Wen erasure and trying to flatten a more unconventional family dynamic into a nuclear family shaped hole one of the main reasons I vibe less with the "wangxian are a-yuan's dads" headcanon is that I honestly think it's kind of... Lan Wangji character assasination.
Yeah that sounds really harsh but the headcanon recquires Lan Wangji formally adopting a-yuan as his own and/or raising him as his son and i cannot stress this enough he would not do that. Because that would be actively endangering A-Yuan's safety.
To be clear: Lan wangji and wen yuan canonically look so alike that strangers who'd never met either of them assumed they were father and son. If Lan Wangji suddenly comes back with a child that he is insisting to raise, and that child looks exactly like him, people aren't going to assume that's hanguang-jun's adopted son. That is hanguang-jun's biological son with a mystery mother!
Jiang Fengmian didn't even formally adopt wei wuxian, and people knew who his actual (married!) parents were, and they still regularly assumed that he was secretly jiang fengmian's bastard instead of the child of the man cangse sanren literally eloped with.
If that's how eager people are about bastard rumours, what do you think happens if one of the most eligible bachelors in the jianghu turns up with an "adopted" son who looks just like him and refuses to say anything about where he came from?
Yeah, Hanguang-jun knocked someone up and apparantly the union was so scandalous he's deperately trying to cover it up while literally bringing this bastard kid into his own clan. Can you imagine a more juicy rumour? Everyone would want to know who this kid's mother is. A-Yuan's background would be one of the hottest pieces of gossip around.
Which, if you're triyng to make sure that no one finds out that this kid is actually a Wen and came straight from the burial mounds, is really fucking bad. If everyone is looking for A-Yuan's backround and someone succeeds, his life is in danger.
A-Yuan lost his memories, and that must've hurt like hell for Lan Wangji, both for A-Yuan's own sake and because that means this child that Wei Wuxian loved and who loved him in turn now no longer remembers him, will only ever know him from the lies the world tells about him. But he didn't do anything about it, because not knowing was safer for A-Yuan. Even if Lan Wangji wanted to personally adopt him, he would not risk A-Yuan's safety to satisfy his own feelings.
On the other hand, A-Yuan looking like Lan Wangji means he looks like a Lan, and wonky as the mdzs timeline is it's pretty clear he was born during the sunshot campaign. The Lan lost a lot of people in the war, they probably have loads of war orphans, and this kid clearly looks like one, they'd have no problem taking him in. Are they 100% sure who his parents were? No, but they probably died shortly after he was born and weren't able to safely return him to cloud recesses.
It's really easy for Lan Xichen and Lan Wangji to come up with a story from here. Someone came across the kid on the streets, saw the family resemblance, and decided to take him back to his home! After the burial mounds Wen Yuan probably wouldn't look too different form an average street rat. Or maybe the boy was raised by a common family who told them about the cultivators that left him there for safekeeping, unable to idenify them exactly but mentioning the signature white robes and forehead ribbon. Who knows!
The point is that Lan Wangji and Lan Sizhui could, for Sizhui's own safety, not be seen as father and son. From Sizhui's comments that Lan Wangji was "like a father or older brother" to him, and the fact that Lan Wangji chose his courtesy name we can infer that after he got out of seclusion Lan Wangji was more involved in his life than he would've been with other disciples. But from the outside that could be explained as a teacher having a favorite student, and an honoured sect elder (and family member, though now the assumption is "distant cousin/nephew" instead of "bastard child") helping to name a child in lieu of parents that are no longer there. By all accounts, Lan Yuan was raised collectively by the Lan as one of the several war orphans they must have had. Just like how he was raised collectively by the burial mound Wen before that.

1. I'm trying to re-find a fic that is a bit of a crossover between TGCF and MDZS but with Wei Wuxian reincarnated as Xie Lian with all of his memories intact, Lan Wangji was reincarnated as Hua Cheng but didn't have memories of his past life. Hua Cheng, Mu Qing, Feng Xin later reacts to Xie Lian's past life as Wei Wuxian after an accident. I'm really searching for this fic everywhere but I can't find it:: It's totally fine if you can recommend anything close to what I'm looking for if possible ^^ @daily333
FOUND? Fated by drunkkidd (G, 12k, WangXian, HuaLian, WWX & XL, XL & HC, WWX & LWJ, HC & WWX, XL & LWJ, WIP, BAMF WWX, Hurt WWX, HC & XL are in Love, Married HuaLian, WWX Needs a Hug, WWX Needs Therapy, WWX Needs a Break, Poor WWX, WWX is Not Okay, Reincarnation, Rebirth, Suffering, Temporary Character Death, Character Death, Heavy Angst, Everyone Needs A Hug, Self-Harm, Implied/Referenced Self-Harm) I haven't read it myself, but it seems to fit the parameters

2. Hi, thank you so much for offering this service. It’s certainly appreciated!
I wanted to find two fics if that is okay.
A) The plot of the first fic: LWJ is a controversial singer. He’s known for his explicit music videos, and is openly gay. I think the fic author was representing the mindset of early 2000’s. His manager is Jiāng Yanli, they both bonded over WWX, who’s presumed dead but is missing. It’s also LWJ fucks. He has sex with various people, one of them being his background dancer but he doesn’t date anyone because he’s in love with WWX. WWX is actually living in hiding, (from Meng Yao). He returns and LWJ and him get together. There’s a whole car chase scene as well when he goes back to get Yuan and the rest of the Wens with Jiang Cheng.
B) The second fic, I don’t remember much from it except a scene that’s been nagging me. It’s a WangXian getting back together fic. Basically WWX returns and while LWJ doesn’t give into him right away, they still end up getting back together. LWJ had a hard time with WWX leaving. The scene that I’m referring to is in which Lwj comes home, and wwx mentions to him he and LXC spoke. LWJ panics because he’s afraid wwx will leave him again and I recall the dialogue being something along the lines of
“No, he had no right” or “he doesn’t get to take you away from me again” he starts crying I think.
WWX calms him down by saying he’s never leaving him again no matter what, even if LXC wouldn’t approve he doesn’t care for others and the only one who matters is LWJ.
Thats about it. Thank you for all your hard work! Xx
Hiiii! I am the person who asked for 2a and 2b in your May 2nd post. The first one is the one I was desperately looking for! Thank you so much for your hard work. 2b isn’t either of those, but much similar. I wish I could provide more context, but I don’t remember much. I believe the scene was Lan Zhan coming home and Wei Ying coming to the doorway mentioning how Xichen called and they spoke, Lan Zhan could’ve been hiding about wei ying coming back I think. Lan Zhan panics thinking wwx will leave him because he assumes xichen was mean to wwx over the phone and he’s scared he’ll leave as a result but wwx calms him saying no matter what he’ll never leave him again. I’m sorry for the trouble, thank you once again for your support!!
2A)

Here's the fic; the lines are near the end, in ch. 16.

3. I read this ff one time from sizhui pov. it’s essentially about lwj in mourning clothes during wwx death . he’s commenting on the color of the robes being white and how there’s no blue. I have never been able to find it again. it;s short, maybe one or two chapters.
I do remember a scene where sizhui asks Lxc about the robes and xichen responds “he used to wear blue, sizhui, like me” — may not be the exact quote but something similar.
Thanks yall! @chenqingmagic

4. Hi so i was looking for a wangxian fic it was a non modern mpreg fic where wwx got pregnant and had to visit some physical whom he became like friends with and lwj and lqr were there too, I honestly don't think it was omegaverse. Sorry this is all i remember but i do remember one rough line from the fic which was a convo b/w lwj, wwx and the physician the physician was asking lwj and wwx about their sex life and how often they do it so lwj responded with everyday and then the physician asked if he pulls out or smth but lwj said no i hope u can find it :> (sorry for lack of details) @monochromo

5. Hi!! I'm looking for a fic where it's a modern au and wei wuxian gets ill when fierce corpses start spreading (almost like an apocalypse) and he gets accused of it. He ends up doing a video call (I think) with other sect leaders to explain how demonic cultivation works so they can stop the apocalypse. I know that lan wangji takes care of wei wuxian while he's sick if that helps. Thank you !!

6. So I’m trying to find this fix where the wens we’re going to sacrifice themselves and Wen Qing throws her needles at Wèi wuxian but he like stops them somehow and is angry(?) and he creates like a impenetrable(?) barrier and keeps the there. @candyyii

7. Fic Finder ask here, I’m looking for a fic set in the cloud recesses study arc era, it’s cannon divergent and WWX & LWJ get together during cloud recesses, I think they’re engaged as well. This fic is also a long fic. The only concrete scene I can place to this fic was WWX & LWJ having horny teen semi clothed sex in the woods where WWX is on LWJ’s lap and they’re found by NHS who clearly thinks he just walked in on them kissing and thought it was fine for them to be doing that, he just felt awkward walking in on them doing it. (So this is another point into the maybe they’re married of fiancés @ that moment in the story) I can’t remember the name of the fic, and it’s haunting me.
Hello, I’m the asker for #7 of the most recent fic finder. Unfortunately I’m pretty certain that Starving Stunted Juvenility is not the fic I’m looking for. I’m re-reading it rn but I remember I was actually very into the cloud recesses divergent aus because of SSJ, and I had definitely been reading one of those for this ask.
NOT FOUND 🧡 Stunted, Starving Juvenility by TomatenMark (E, 803k, WangXian, WIP, Fix-it of sorts, Talisman master WWX, Not JFM Friendly, Study Arc, Getting together, Fluff and Angst, Engagement) what immediately comes to mind for long, CRA get together, canon divergence is this. Can't remember if the scene you remember is in here or not but this is a massive fic so maybe??

9. Hi, does anyone remember seeing a fic where lwj shows up on wwx's doorstep out of the blue. They hadn't seen each other in a while & lwj escaped from somewhere, like he was being kept in a lab maybe for experimenting & went straight to wwx for help. I think it might have been b/c he was pregnant, maybe it was an a/b/o fic?

10. I'm looking for a particular fic- I think an arranged marriage/immortal Wei Wuxian au, wherein he saved Luo Qingyang, Jin Zixuan and Lan Wangji from the Xuanwu cave, then returned them to the clans a while later and asked for/orchestrated Lan Wangji's hand in marriage? Thank you @kedaliya

12. Hi! For Fic Finder: I am looking for a canon-era fic where Wei Wuxian was some kind of god or divine being and the thing I remember is that he had to bond with a demon/beast-man to balance his divinity(?). Xiao Xingchen and Song Lan came to him as an example of one such duo: Song Lan was the demon half and he explained that the demons make a contract with the god to protect the god in life and then the demon gets to eat the god’s body after death. The thought of getting eaten scared WWX. I am pretty sure this fic took place during the Sunshot Campaign because WWX was fighting through some war and he was unbalanced because he hadn’t found his other half. I could also have this flip flopped and maybe LWJ was the divine one and WWX was the demon half? If anyone remembers this fic I would love to find it again! Thank you!
Hi again, I just sent in a fic finder ask about a divine WWX having to bond with a demon? I think I might have gotten two fics confused: a war fic and a religion fic. WWX might have been taken to a monastery and raised there as a mythic figure that the other sects come on pilgrimage to worship, and he is raised being told he has to bond with a dark spirit? Sorry for the mix up, but could you please add this to my previous ask? If the fics are one and the same, great! If they are two separate, does anyone recognize them? Thanks again! @gloriousclotpole

I’m 15 and while (Un)Hidden Truth is great it’s not what I’m looking for. I don’t think the attempt at suicide is in the one I’m looking for, and it also happens midway into the story not in the first couple chapters, but thank you!

17. Hi! I'm trying to find a fic I read where in the present day Lan Huan & Lan Zhan are at a cultivation conference. They're walking back to their hotel when ancient fantasy China Wei Ying falls out of nothing and lands on the pavement right in front of them. It turns out, Wei Ying fell off the cliff at Nightless City but instead of dying, he somehow ended up 600 years into the present. I remember that the Lan brothers immediately help him - he's fascinated & freaked out by modern life at first (both the hotel elevator & modern plumbing in particular). Um, a lot of cultivation history has been lost over time & i think WY helps with that. I also remember it turns out that Lan Zhan is the reincarnation of original LZ. I think that several other characters were reincarnated also & Mo Xuanyu is another person who somehow time-traveled to the present. I know it ended up Wangxian. I think there's a sequel where they eventually adopt A-Yuan & a little girl who is Yanli reincarnated. Please help! I can't remember the fic name & all my keyword searching hasn't worked out.
Thanks very much! @emrinalex

18. Hi! i have been trying to look for a fic that I forgot for quite a while. The thing is, i am not sure if it is a threadfic OR an ao3 fic. The only thing that I could remember was wwx and lwj was travelling together, possibly on a honeymoon after their wedding; arrange marriage. or they could just be going on a night hunt ToT the biggest premise of this was that lwj was undeniable attracted to wwx and took a peek of him while bathing and wwx was so smug because he knew he would look. @freshmilk-00

19. Okay so there's a fic I read when I first got into MDZS about two years ago and the memory of it suddenly hit me like a truck and I /need/ to reread but I cannot, for the life of me, find it. I've gone through what feels like 100 pages of my history on a03 without luck so here I am. Okay, as far I can remember, It was still a WIP when I read it roughly two years ago, but that was two years ago so I could be wrong. Anyway, it was a time travel fic but /not/ because of canon events.
However, it was canon complacent. Basically, sometime after the end of the series, there was some really bad demonic (?) event that killed most of the world, including LWJ. WWX hadn't reached immortality but he had reached the next level of cultivation, and therefore now had a perfect memory. I know there was one scene where he realized he'd hit that breakthrough (and I think broke down?) because he was recreating the ancestral plates of the Lan and realized he knows every name even if he shouldn't.
Anyway, in this future, the remaining cultivators are able to link together to sort of super boost their cultivation? (Idk if that's the best description) and tie it to both Wei Wuxian and Wen Ning, who send their consciousnesses back in time to... I think it's when they were at the Gusu lectures. (I do not remember if this was novel or cql verse).
They gather the world (Minus Wen Ruohan and his people) to tell the story of the future but using titles people wouldn't yet have (like Yiling Patriarch. Ghost General. Headshaker. Lianfang-zun as examples) to tell the story without giving away identities (Though Wen Ning does introduce himself as the Ghost General at some point during that, giving away that identity). There's also truth talisman they wear while telling the story to prove its all true. Anyway I know this is long but I figured the more details I remembered, the better. Even if it is still WIP I just wanna reread what's there so badly.
