fic etc (new version!)
[update March 21, 2024]
These days I'm writing fic for Our Flag Means Death.
Longfic
I have three finished long pieces, in order of connectedness to canon:
Hungry for love, ready to drown (T, 33K) - a Stede POV retelling of season one starting with episode four, lots of missing scenes (so much with clothing but also wound care! dream sequence!). My love letter to canon; I watched those episodes so many times in little bursts to really absorb the writing and acting, and I'm very proud of the results. Goes well with S2 prep, if I may say so. Will probably definitely most likely get a sequel, but it's taking me a while to figure out how to approach it.
the devil's threeway (E, 30K) - Ed POV, starts with a pre-canon encounter with Jack and (non-canonical) Anne Bonney, follows up with a post-S1 meet-up with Anne and (also non-canonical) Mark Read, and then a somewhat unusual reunion with Stede. Includes the fic where Ed would not. Stop. Crying. There is a reasonably likelihood that I will write something similar or equivalent with the canon versions of Anne and Mary, but it's still marinating.
for the benefit of all the broken hearts (E, 62K) - the not RPF but not not RPF that is maybe the best thing I've ever written in any medium for any reason: a fix-it fic for the gorgeous and weird Water Flowing Underground, told from the perspective of the unnamed second wife. My exploration of the aftermath of tragedy, the possibility of repair, and varieties of love. Read the tags, read the author's note, read WFU first (or don't, I'm not the boss of you, and I do know someone who read them out of order and still enjoyed it), but please give it a shot. Posts tagged #carlita coded content are related to this work, sometimes very obliquely. There is also a follow-up fic of missing scenes, end up several worlds away, that still has one chapter remaining (I SWEAR I'm going to finish it), and a short sort of non-linear AU, back on my beat, that explores some alternate endings.
Some favorite shorter pieces
I have begun to long for you, a "mutiny against Izzy succeeds" canon-divergence AU
nice either way, my contribution to the Beard Discourse
Commit to the Bit, modern AU blackbonnet engagement and wedding
Season 2 and post-S2 fic
I spit on your grave - post-S2, Stede and Ed have a serious conversation, starting with how Ed didn't "happen" upon Stede being gut-stabbed, and going some tough places from there
lost and found - post-S2, featuring beach comber Stede and those cake toppers
Through the storm - the crew of the Revenge between episodes 2 and 3. slow and creepy!
in case I never make it through to where you are - bad ending AU set at the end of 3. MIND THE TAGS, it's a rough one.
Other stuff
Occasionally I post OFMD fic recommendations, which started as a weekly thing but, you know. They are still posted in sets of five on Fridays, when I do them, and tagged #five fic friday. (There's no particular system to my listings, just stuff I like that's not PWP.)
Not fic: I am doing a little project where I make/recreate recipes that I have written down but haven't made in a long time (or ever) - that can be found under the tag #food as play. Includes my rewrite of the 40 Orange Cake Recipe!
I have also written a lot of fic for The Adventure Zone, my favorite being The Reckoning Arrives, a 77k fic in which Lucretia, Taako, Merle, and Carey go looking for Kalen.
I wrote quite a bit of my TAZ fic with my late spouse Ryn (@taakovapes). Ryn died in September 2021; here's the post I wrote the week they died. I often post/tag about them and death and grief. (See tags #not all exits are made equal, #[grief dab], and #posts I wish I could send to Ryn in particular.)

Wally Rosette | He/him | @hershelchocolateart
Wally Rosette is a 15-year-old kid who was chosen (and then kidnapped) to attend the Elite Villainous International Learning facility. This position, however, is solely because his parents were world-famous villains. Wally himself has no interest in the business, and is often described as the sweetest person any of the cast has ever met. He spends most of his time in the background, helping out faculty and students with their homework or various tasks, and only ever becoming relevant when homework *is* the plot of the week. Wally is just a kind kid who knows better than to get involved in the plot and loves his friends so so so so so so so fucking much it's unreal
Promos: https://toyhou.se/8256045.wally-rosette <-wallys toyhouse profile! https://www.webtoons.com/en/canvas/the-villain-school/list?title_no=97541 <-the comic he's in (discontinued because I'm doing a different one - it is 6/40 chapters with a planned remake Somewhere in the distant future)
~
Mason | He/him | @hershelchocolateart
CW: Cartoony bugs, minor eye horror
Mason is a Monster in a world of Monsters that rule the underworld of the city. Mason is an office worker at an office building where he doesn't even know what his job is. He just knows he's an office worker in a real office building :) he's an Insect Monster which usually results in the user becoming an insect themself, eventually losing their humanity and giving in to their animalistic nature. Mason is a beehive. He's friends with all the bees :)
Promos: Hallowed isn't out yet but there's a tag for it on my art blog I suppose
~
Full images and descriptions under the cut!
Tumblr media
THIS IS MY VERY FAVORITE BABY BOY So Wally is a sweet kid, but because his parents were world-famous, he never really got a choice in who they raised him to be. This resulted in him having a BUNCH of self-worth issues that he tries to deal with on the side because he doesn't want to get his friends involved. He has two (2) major points in the plot (OUT OF 40 CHAPTERS)- one plot point where he ignores the main antagonist to get a boyfriend instead, and one where his entire arc finally culminates in "Wally Learns How To Say No To People." Outside of that, he does NOTHING regarding the main plot and is a C plot character at best. He is simply involved and there in the background because I love him so much and he is my precious little baby boy and yeah sure maybe I loved him so much I made 27 alternate universe versions of him that all have plot relevance in all my stuff but *this* wally is simply a boy and he is blue and he is lovely and I would kill and cry for him every day
Tumblr media
He's so much of just a guy I don't have anything else to say. He doesn't play a major part and I don't think he ever gets named. He's in the bg to be chill and fun. Luke is the only main character to recognize him as a Monster and immediately clocks him as not a threat cause one of his bees almost got stepped on (didn't die. Keyword here is almost) and he started crying honey cause he was so so scared. He's just a guy who loves his bees

Oh, I forgot this! I have mechanics written to help when I'm approaching extreme heat climates in my fics. I'm planning to make an extreme cold climate version, too. I've yet to use them, but I have a few chapters to plot, so there's a chance I'll get to for Requiem.
Some are more intended for making hard choices. I actually use those more often.
But maybe another writer could find this useful. I'll drop a copy of what I currently have under the cut.
First, determine what signifies a "turn" for what you're writing/doing. Turns can be as short a few seconds or as long as several hours. It's up to you, but make sure you're being realistic with how the environment will affect the length of your term. Shorter second turns work well for places like Death Mountain. Hour turns work best for regular days.
(Pick one) With A D12:
Time
Warriors
Sky
Twilight
Four
Legend
Hyrule
Wild
Wind
First(if included)
Shadow(if included)
Ravio/a Zelda/author choice
(Leave out one, who does it/does it happen to) With a D8:
Time
Warriors
Sky
Twilight
Four
Legend
Hyrule
Wild
Wind
(Leave out your pick and place the rest in the corresponding 1-8 order for the roll. This is for when there's one character that can't/won't be involved and we need to choose between the rest)
(Alternatively, use a D 10 and re-roll for zeroes, unless there's more or less involved(adjust accordingly))
Heat stroke mechanic:
D4(regular sunny, hot day w/o water)
D8(Gerudo Desert/haunted wasteland/any arid climate)
D20(Death Mountain/volcano/fire temple):
Everyone starts at 0.
10 is "this is a hot day and I'm sweating a little."
20 is "The sun is really beating down, I hope I have enough water for my trip. I'm sure I'll be okay, though."
30 is "This heat is starting to get a little uncomfortable. I'm tired faster now."
40 is "I'm really worn out, but I can keep going for a while longer if I need to."
50 is "I no longer feel hot. This is fine. I'm sweating a whole lot now though."
60 is "I feel sick and I can't stop sweating."
70 is "I'm throwing up any water in my stomach. I can't keep anything down. I'm dizzy and exhausted.*
80 is "I'm barely walking. The heat is just too much. What water I can keep down turns to sweat too fast for it to help me.
90 is "I'm no longer sweating and I'm starting to get lost. Very dizzy.*
Once 100 is reached, that's full heat stroke. They collapse at this point.
Each roll will be added to the previous roll. The sum of both is your current stat.
Warm water gives a -1 modifier to the next roll.
Cold water reduces the current effect by 5 for each individual drink, up to 20 points down. Give -5 advantage on the next turn, down to 0 points taken.
Hyrdomelon halves your next 3 rolls and gives you -10 on your current heat meter, down to 0.
Chilly food halves your next 5 rolls and gives you -3 on your current heat meter, down to 0.
Chilly elixirs halves your next 10 rolls and gives you -10 on your current heat meter, down to 0.
Protective clothing gives advantage of -1 per article.
Gerudo garb gives an advantage of -3 per article.
Losing articles of clothing gives a disadvantage of +4 per item. See sun poisoning mechanic.
No shoes=travel time disadvantage. +2 per turn.
Sun poisoning mechanics.
Nothing is felt until the character reaches 30.
At 30, you have a light sunburn on tips, like the nose, ears, and forearms.
At 40, your mild sunburn spreads to most of the face and exposed skin on arms.
At 50, all exposed skin is burned. Skin is visibly red now.
At 60, tiny white blisters start to form on exposed skin.
At 70, the sun physically hurts to stand in.
At 80, you're throwing up from sun exposure. You have mild sun poisoning.
At 90, you have moderate sun poisoning. Seek medical help.
At 100, you have severe sun poisoning. Medical attention is now vital.
The more exposed skin, the quicker this progresses.
With a full outfit and minimal exposure, use a D4.
With exposed arms and face, use a D8.
With no shirt, shoes/only pants, use a D12.
A diluted ice chu jelly can be used as a sunblock for an advantage of -5 per roll while applied. It wears off after 10 turns and washes away with water.
Gerudo garb gives a disadvantage of +2 per roll while out in the desert sun. Ice chu jelly can be used to counteract this.
Alternatively, a "Noble Pursuit"* from Gerudo town will numb the pain and reduce rolls by 50% above 70 points, and by 75% above 85 points.
*Characters must obtain the drink prior to journey and be of drinking age, a minimum of 21.
Old enough: First(32), Time(28), Warriors(26), Sky(22), Twilight(21).
The rest are aged in my headcanon: Four(20), Legend (20), Wild (18, 24 post TOTK), Hyrule (17), Wind (14).

Franport rambling
warning: long post
For once I am making an original post here because I don’t want my non-hetalian followers to see my ship rambling on main heh
So I have a total of 6 wip fics sitting in my Google Drive and Franport is only one of them but IT’S THE LONGEST ONE. I don’t even know how many chapters it will last but it might hit 30-40.
Fruk is the main rival ship in the fandom (I’m only mentioning it because it’s so mainstream compared to something like Franport) and franport looks very tame next to it because well, there’s not much historical context and these two have barely interacted in canon (and the interaction is just france being france and port being sus of him while he has a smile on his face and that’s about it)
But I assure you, these two can get as petty as England and France, purely on the basis that they ARE in canon (ah, those romance nations)
Canon France is... canon France, y’know? He would slander you on everything that isn’t according to his own taste, be it food, fashion, etc. (looks at England)
Portugal? Look at what he did to Spain over some internet post and tell me he is anything but petty (ok maybe crazy or deranged or unhinged but anyway)
Ngl, Franport banter/fights hits different because if you were to compare Port (at least my interpretation of him) to England in Fruk (referencing fandom content), he’s much calmer, more laidback and less emotional. This makes Port more prone to giving in, instead of being stubborn and escalating the situation consequently (I think England is already more logically inclined among our favourite homosexual eldritch nation immortals but at the same time he can get quick-tempered and hot-headed because of his ‘tsundere’ nature)
I also headcanon that Port is the type to place more value in social harmony than in his own stance/beliefs, but at the same time, he can get very argumentative if he finds a flaw in logic even though he usually doesn’t strike others as the “nerdy” type of guy (I love how this is reflected a lot in fanon)
But he likes being a smartass (I kinda relate to him this way. I can’t help being annoying like this sometimes with my friends) Therefore, if you were to put him in an argument with France, it would only last longer if it were a battle of wits (usually with Port being the reasonable one), but if they are just fighting over something, like which side of the bed to claim, it would end almost immediately with France overpowering him
That doesn’t sound very healthy, but it’s something that Port is entirely comfortable with. He isn’t a people pleaser (can be quite the opposite actually) but very much like me, he wouldn’t pick a fight with someone over something as insignificant as a bed simply because he deems it as a waste of time (to sleep). Ofc, he would try to find an alternative in other situations to make everyone happy, but in many, it’s not possible, so he just caves in, unless the other person doesn’t mind him having the better option (which is somewhat rare with France, no matter how considerate he can be). There is a line to be crossed, but this bed situation doesn’t represent it
France is definitely the bigger flirt among them (my version of Port is much less inclined to flirting compared to some fanon interpretations), and he loves it whenever Port makes a sarcastic comment in response to his advances. It’s something he finds more endearing than annoying because he likes a challenge, not someone who is easy to fluster/embarrass, or someone too agreeable/sappy
Historically in nationverse, Port can be very refreshing for France to interact with because of his naturally calm personality. All those centuries of his infamous rivalry with England must have taken a toll on him. He needs someone who can patiently listen to him without getting too opinionated or emotional with him. Although Portugal may look like the wrong person to go to, considering his alliance (read: close friendship) with England, he is one of the few people who understand England the most, and so understands France deeply in turn. Sure, Spain and Prussia might be closer to France, but it is Port who knows how to keep France grounded at his lowest, thanks to his ability to listen and keep most emotions out of the way.
Although, Port will be quick to defend his best friend sometimes, he will quickly notice when France is too tired to argue back and shut up right there. I can see France crushing on him because of this side of his confidant ;)
Thinking of opening my askbox because I want to talk more about port and ships when I don’t have any mutuals irl

I’m sort of speedrunning archon quests to catch up with where everyone else is in Genshin! Yesterday I finished the Perilous Trail Act II, and today I jumped into the Sumeru archon quest and did the first chapter of that. The storytelling is pretty good. I like Alhaitham as a character but I think The Akedemia seems sus…also Collei is so sweet!
Anyway in addition to that, after learning of the new banner, I am saving for Diluc. I’m converting all primos into intertwined fates and getting intertwined fates from archon quests and other stuff like leveling up the tree in Dragonspine. I have an active Welkin and between archon quests, events, exploring, and battle pass, I hope to have a sizable amount by the time that banner drops. It sounds like the banner will be there for the whole patch so 40-ish days. I’m crossing my fingers at getting an early 5 star and/or winning! If it doesn’t work out there’s still always 50/50s and standard banner and whenever the Mondstandt version of this banner returns again. I feel like the limited characters might vary depending on who hasn’t had reruns recently but the standard ones from that region will always be there, at least I hope! I’m so glad Hoyo listened to us.
I just got both Kaeya and Dehya to level 80 and ascended them and will be working on getting the mats for their last ascension. Kaeya isn’t too bad, but Dehya is kinda annoying. I got my final Ayaka ascension yesterday as well.
My Xinagling, Traveller, and Beidou are good, I could level talents a bit more and I really just need to level up artifacts. I have a level 60 skyward pride on Beidou that I plan to level and I need to level my weapons on Jean, Ayaka, Kaeya, etc. as well. I only have Dehya on a 3 star weapon right now but we’ll see how much I use her. I want to ascend Sucrose also and farm Viradescent for her and Jean and maybe get a couple better pieces for my wanderer too. I wanna prioritize going after Wanderer and Ayaka’s talents since they are going to be my main DPS characters at the moment. After those characters I have at 70 or 80 all have their final ascensions and I’m working on talents/artifacts/weapon level ups, etc, I’ll start working to getting my Bennett and Gaming leveled, then my Mona and Xingqui. I wanna focus on vape/melt teams rn and I’d like to use Bennett as an excuse to stop using Qiqi who is only there to keep me alive and not built for damage. Probably after I get those characters built I’ll work on Kuki/Fischl/Yaoyao and consider making a hyperblook team since I’ve got a pretty good Dendro Traveller. If I get a Keqing I’ll build her too.
So while I’m saving for Diluc I’m only gonna pull on standard when I have standard wishes and save all other primos and intertwined fates for that new banner. I’m also using all stardust to buy intertwined fates as much as it will let me. I’m also building a Gaming either way, as a backup DPS if I don’t get Diluc this time or an alternative for fun does. I mentioned having that skyward pride on Beidou but I’ll probably be using Beidou less now since I’ll use the pyro boys (and Dehya) for claymore stuff. I also might half build Xinyan for the lols. So I threw Dehya on that 3 star red claymore cuz it’s lvl 90 r5 (it was Beidou’s before I got skyward pride on standard) the 4 star claymores I have are Mailed Flower, Prototype Archaic, Whiteblind, Talking Stick, and I think Sacrifical Greatsword but can’t remember). Are any of these better on Diluc or should I just use that skyward pride. And which ones do I give to Dehya, Beidou, and Gaming, since they’re the only other claymores I can foresee myself using at the moment?
Anyway my account is actually starting to look up but it’s gonna be very slow going. At least my wanderer can usually kill most things in story without hassle. It’s gonna be a long time before I’m ready for abyss though.

Book Review of Birthright--Impavidus Cycle Book 1 by M.A. Vice.
This was a really great book! There's so much about it I love, and the story is suuuuper engaging. I especially liked the beginning because it's unlike any book I've ever read before. The main character, Albtraum (which I pronounce Alb-tray-um. Not sure if it's supposed to be pronounced that way or not, but it sounds cool so I went with it. And it also kinda looks like "I'll b-tray 'em" which is one of the main character's worries so I really liked that) …. er, anyway. Albtraum "wakes" and discovers he's the son of a daemon. He doesn't remember anything before that point, but his dad (who lives in his mind at the moment) wants him to do lots of murders to increase his power. And it's… Cool. You have this main character who is the antagonist for EVERYONE ELSE in the world for a hot minute (the span of 4 years, I think) until the seeds of doubt are planted and he starts to wonder if maybe killing everyone isn't the best thing to do.
The characters all have unique, interesting voices and are clearly defined through their actions, hobbies, and preferences. I feel for them. I like some and distrust others. I am shocked by revelations and irritated (in a good way!) by certain decisions. The author knows how to write and develop characters for sure.
I also liked the epic feel of this story. I don't know what you would really call this, because it's not URBAN fantasy, but it does take place on an alternate reality version of our own earth, although it's really impossible to tell if it's in the past or a post-dystopian future. I like that. It really could be either. Or neither! Maybe it's just an alternate universe where daemons exist.
Awesome setting, perfect amount of description, great, believable dialogue.
There are a few issues I had, but they were only enough for me to take off one star, 'cuz I liked the story so much.
Especially in the first few chapters, there are a lot of words repeated. Even though they're common words, them being used within one line of each other made things a little repetitive.
My own gripe: I'm not a fan of love triangles. This one is relatively short, but I just don't personally like them.
Almost everyone seems to love Albtraum immediately. It works with the setting, for the most part, but the fawning can get a little uncomfortable.
There's a part of the book I can't really talk about because of spoilers, but it involves the relationship between Mianna and Albtraum. I feel as if it moved too fast.
The end of the book seems really long after the climax. After I finished what felt like the most exciting part of the book, I still had 40 minutes left to read, and I'm a fast reader.
Other than that, I really enjoyed it, and I'm looking forward to book 2!

Do you have a process with your writing? It’s so good
Thank you! In practice it's not quite as neatly divided into steps, but the writing process basically looks like this:
Step 1: an idea approaches
I'm going about my day when suddenly I'm struck by a scene, a bit of dialogue, or — and these are usually specific to original fic ideas — a setting/magic system/historical event. Fanfic ideas can also come from questions about canon: The Hedgehog's Dilemma started with me asking myself 1) how Jamie would react to something like Wembley in season 1, and 2) how the relationship he's shown to have with Georgie in season 3 fits with what he says/is implied about it at the ghost bonfire.
Step 2: the world and characters
This step is definitely a bigger part of the writing process for original fic — this is where I flesh out the setting, the history, cultures, laws, and magic systems, draw the maps, create broad strokes character profiles, ect. — but it is also part of the writing process for fanfics, although it usually happens concurrent with or after step 3. The fanfic version is basically making a note of the timeline, coming up with or deciding on an interpretation of character backstories (depending on how much canon evidence there is), and just generally making sure I have a clear idea of who everyone is, what motivates them, how they see the world, ect.
Step 3: plot and character arcs
Before I start outlining, I let the fic percolate in my mind for a couple of days. If it didn't already happen during ideas phase, this is when I figure out what I'm trying to say thematically and get a sense of how the handful of scenes or the premise I have floating around would fit into a story. Once I have the main plot beats, and ending, and character arcs for the leads, it's outlining time.
Step 4: turn step 3 into an outline
If I already have a pretty good idea of the plot, I just get right to it and write all the scenes into a checklist, which is divided by chapters if it's not a one-shot. If I'm still working out some of the finer plotpoints, I write out everything I have so far in a list and then break that down into scenes. My outlines are usually general descriptions of a scene with notes on dialogue or the characters' emotions, and I'm not really strict about following it as I write, although I will go back and rework the outline if things are really going in a different direction than anticipated.
Step 5: write
For me, a lot of writing is about momentum: I enjoy it when I'm doing it regularly but I have a hard time getting back into it if I've taken a break, so I try to write every day, which I accomplish this by having a very low daily goal of 300 words. I'll often write more than that, but it's low enough to feel achievable when I'm busy or tired or just don't feel like it. Otherwise, my writing process is just to go through my outline in order and check off scenes as they're done.
Step 6: edit 😕
When I write fiction, I'll usually edit a chapter once or maybe twice before I post it. In my academic life, however, a solid 40% of the writing process is just editing, so here's how I do that in case anyone is looking for an editing process:
The read through: after I finish writing, I let it sit for a day if I have time, then read the entire thing. I'll usually fix minor grammar/spelling mistakes just to keep myself paying attention, but the goal here is to make note of structural problems. Is there a natural flow between scenes/ideas? Are there any parts that are repetitive or extraneous or, alternatively, is there anything missing?
Structural edit: fix the things I noticed on the read through.
Repeat steps 1 and 2 until I'm satisfied
Line edit: this is where I clean up the writing itself — spelling, grammar, making sure there's variation in sentence structure and word choice, ect.

40. This or that:
Legolas or Gimli
Elrond or Gil Galad
Gondolin or Nargothrond?
40. This or that (Give me two characters/movies/songs/etc.)
-Legolas or Gimli: Gimli. First of all, while I think book Legolas gets severely overlooked in favour of his "cool" movie persona, and this is a crime, as book!Legolas is delightful, I like Gimli better. Maybe because I never found Orlando Bloom that attractive, maybe because Gimli has a bit more of a role in the books, or maybe because I am very salty about what PJ did to him in his movies, but yeah. Gimli all the way. He's wise, he's kind, he shares the history of his people with the Fellowship, he is proud and a pain in the ass sometimes (and sometimes he's even right!), and he loves the hobbits so very much! I love to see it.
-Elrond or Gil-Galad: Gil-Galad. Look. I didn't spend my late teens and early twenties writing a 14-chapter-fic about him for him not to be my favourite. He looms large over Elven history in the books, and yet we only have an unfinished poem about him, and like two canon versions of his parentage, plus an ever-growing list of alternate explanations. I am so intrigued about this guy who managed to reunite most of the remaining Elves, and was on good terms with both Men and Dwarves, enough to get them to come to the Last Alliance.
-Gondolin or Nargothrond: Nargothrond, although not by much. I am not that interested in the Elven kingdoms of the First Age, except maybe Doriath. But at least one could leave Nargothrond whenever.

The beginning of a little Rivers of London something that I’m noodling with:
That summer was the hottest on record. My dad maintains that 1976 was hotter, but my mum just says that anyone who's never lived in a place where the seasons are divided into rainy and dry doesn't know what hot is.
It was definitely hot enough for me. The sun beat down mercilessly on London as the city sweltered through June and July, and I sweltered along with it in my allegedly summer weight M & S suits. On weekdays, anyway. On the weekends, or at least those weekends when even most of the members of the demi-monde were too overheated to get up to (much) mischief, I wore a t-shirt and - on the really hot days - shorts. Nightingale frowned the first time he saw me in the shorts, though whether because he considered shorts to be something that one never wore again under any circumstances once one had graduated to long trousers, or just that he felt the heat fell under the category of inconveniences that should be borne with a stiff upper lip, I couldn't say. The heat definitely didn't seem to affect him at all. Maybe he got used to it when he was stationed in some far-flung outpost of empire during the 1930s and never lost the knack, but more likely his beautifully tailored wool suits breathed in a way that my suits of finest polyester never would.
So I was wearing what had become my go to weekend outfit of t-shirt and shorts that Sunday afternoon in early August when I dropped round to see my parents.

Hello and a happy new year my dear! Would you like to share some thoughts on Bridgertons? Lots of love, Flo
Happy New Year, hon!
Um, well, you may regret asking this question! I have many THOUGHTS about it, mostly to do with coats, etiquette or lack thereof, coats, cravats, random bonking, coats, hair styles, nonsensical plot points - which is basically the whole show - coats...
I may have liveblogged some of my reactions as I went...

Christopher eccleston’s first ninth doctor big finish audio adventures come out today. It’s the first time he’s resumed the role since 2005.
Heh. Their website keeps crashing. I really hope they tell him that, so he gets an idea of the enthusiasm out there.

The extra pages for chapter 139 seem to be pretty much finally out!
And they're a bunch panels relying on visual storytelling which need to be put in context by the reader/you need to maybe think about it for 10 seconds instead of 2, something I've learned the internet does not like in storytelling. (Or in general, considering how much misinformation is out there.)
I think Kunihiko Ikuhara's works were my first exposure to this element of the internet in full force; they're some of the lowest-rated stories in some of the typical websites where anime is discussed and they're all mostly very reliant on metaphor and visual storytelling.
I've seen 12 episodes of Revolutionary Girl Utena and a little bit of Yurikuma Arashi and I think you really need to completely engage with those stories to get what is going on. Almost all of the dialog in those stories seems to matter and to need as much of the context as possible to understand.
And to me a story which asks you to engage and put things together for yourself is what I look for in art and I think is art.
The reason why I have yet to go back to those stories is because they are so very dense and you really just need to be in a certain mindset to watch them.
AoT Chapter 122 and now these new pages are 100% visual storytelling.
AoT Chapter 122 in particular is still one of my favourite manga chapters ever because of how it portrayed a character's perspective with very limited dialog.
The thing with AoT is that I think these moments of visual storytelling are like a less dense and complex version of Ikuhara's storytelling, but they have the same elements.
A lot of context-dependent information in relatively few panels is in 122 and 139, that's why I think people get the sense the story is excusing Eren, for example.
Most of those complaints I've felt are very bad faith, but if I believe in the good and intelligence of humanity for once, maybe it really is that awkward prose that confuses and offends people, not the desire to be morally superior over a comic.
In that sense I think people read the words "thank you" Armin says to Eren and nothing else around it or just find the phrasing to be strange.
They don't go to reread the previous chapter or arc just in case they might've missed something.
Months/years-long breaks between material also assist in not really considering anything else but that one chapter in that one month.
And it just so happens art is also a very individual emotional experience, so "monkey brain" just fully kicks in, too.
To me if you think about it, what the story is saying is pretty obvious the moment Eren became the antagonist. This shift happened in Marley, 40 chapters or so ago.
But this is just what *my* mind leads me to and makes connections with based on the information I have absorbed from the story.
And it's not just that, too. I make connections to what the story was trying to do with Reiner, Kenny, Bert, Erwin or Annie because they were also serial killers/murderers the story took effort in humanising.
The importance of individual perspective and what these characters individually think and how they view themselves seems to be one of the most important aspects of the story.
Because ultimately one of the most important thematic threads of the story seems to be understanding different perspectives.
So why is Eren any different than all of the other mass murderers in the cast?
Because all of the big murderers in the cast get empathy and moments where characters try to understand them, no?
To actually address the pages, here's the general points and my thoughts:
-The whole deal with Mikasa and OG Ymir is that I think Mikasa tries to again, find the good in OG Ymir's suffering.
Her having her children lead to the lives of many people, including hers to be born and Mikasa thanks her for that.
This is a parallel to Eren, whose actions at least gave his friends their lives back. This also ties into Armin's point in chapter 137 about living life for those good moments and Mikasa's promise in chapter 138 to remember Eren for all of the good he did for her.
-Mikasa having a family with probably Jean (which is probably implied with the small scene on the boat) is such a minor thing that I just find hard to care about it at all. The focus on Mikasa really wasn't with it the point to emphasize how she now has kids.
And Mikasa and Historia are still the only characters we see get kids. There really actually isn't anything with anyone else (the spoiler about Armin and Annie doesn't seem to be real at all).
-People visiting the tree is a much more limited panel than the initial leaked images lead on. It's not a tourist attraction, it's something I think the families of Eren's friends ended up visiting. So this also gives it a much more "selfish" vibe.
-Armin's talk with Eren and the scene on the boat with Pieck now gets some pretty nice additional context (makes sense considering Isayama considered it one of the bits to be clumsy himself) because of the panels of Paradis at war in the future.
Those panels don't necessarily say Paradis was completely destroyed by war (we see the black-haired kid), but the alternatives also make the same point: Eren's methods didn't really bring peace.
It sort of gives the promise Armin made to Eren and his words on the boat a more sadder tinge.
Armin tried so hard to make something good out of the mess Eren left everyone. He tried hard for diplomacy to triumph, but war still happened because that's how humanity works.
There's also the layer of violence begetting violence and extremism also hurting your own people. The Jaegerist movement Eren ended up creating probably caused this war on Paradis. I think that's the implied thing with Historia's speech.
The final layer to Eren's actions is the giant Titan tree that literally grew out of his grave: what he did just lead to more cycles and the whole mess might just start again.
But we don't really actually see that happen. It's only a possibility.
Will the kid go in there to get the power and save his people from misery or will he consider the past?
We don't know. It all depends on what he knows of the past and this tree, how his parents presented the past to him, how the world shaped his perspective and yes, also his nature, too.
But the point is, Eren's actions had some good, but mostly bad consequences.
Puts Annie's and Pieck's comments in a stronger perspective, too.
I still maintain this ending is good. Not my favourite material from AoT, but good.
And I'll repeat what I said before that repeating the story's point in more concrete ways gives satisfaction in its own right.

Devlog #2 | 08/05/21
Hi everyone! I’m back with another update on the game for you all. But first, I want to say thank you to @interact-if for reblogging my introduction post. It means a lot to me to have the word out there, and I appreciate everyone who continued to reblog and like the post <3 And for all the new followers, hello! I’m so happy if Alaris looked like an interesting enough game for you all to follow, and I’m excited to share the game with you c: I don’t want to keep rambling about how much I appreciate and am honored by everyone who interacted and followed me in the past couple of days, but just know it’s so appreciated and has really made my weekend!!
Onto the updates!
I’ve mainly been working on Chapter 1 per usual and focusing on getting it out by the end of August if I can. For anyone who follows my itch.io page, you may know that I have quite a bit of artwork to get done to make the deadline, but I really want to push myself to get something out by then. Regarding Chapter 1, here’s a sneak peek of what I’ve been working on. A lot of things need to be changed, but here’s a visual that represents where I’m at hehe.
Tumblr media
See below the cut to see more information regarding chapter 1 progress and more screenshots!
Sprites: 75% Complete | All base sprites are finished! I just need to add the expressions to characters for when it’s appropriate but the base sprites are complete!
General Art (i.e. BG’s, CG’s, GUI, etc.): 40% Complete | I’ve finished all the backgrounds necessary for the chapter and just need to do the CGs as well as a preliminary GUI.
Script: 95% Complete | All I need to do for script is revisions as well as a small prologue piece that I’ve decided to add in to add some context and worldbuilding to the game
Coding: 75% Complete | I’ve done most of the hard part of the coding for the game, which I was admittedly stuck on for a while, but I’ve finally made it work! So the rest should be smooth sailing for the chapter, unless something unexpected comes up (please no)
In general, I’ve finished scripting for the game and am currently just revising bits and pieces to make dialogue flow better and create a better reading experience overall. Right now, we are sitting at 9,000+ words!
The hard part of the coding is finished - I was tripped up for a bit because I wanted to add a personality component to the game and couldn’t make the code work for the life of me. I had a breakthrough recently and was able to make it work, so I’m excited to also announce that Alaris will have a personality piece to the game to hopefully make it more immersive :D
Regarding the art, I am currently working on the sprites needed for the first chapter as well as the CGs. I’m hoping to have a CG for each LI’s introduction, and at least one alternative emotion sprite for each character (except for one but that is due to the writing of the demo). As of now, I actually have finished the Chapter 1 sprites for each character!! Sneak peek below of Druk~
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Art is probably my biggest concern right now, but I’m hopeful I can get most stuff done. Especially because this first release will be a preliminary one to let people see what the game looks like, I’m not concerned with absolute perfection at the moment and want to focus on putting something out there that’s still high quality but maybe not the final version. Because of this, the GUI may look a bit scuffed, but hopefully the art for CGs and sprites will be put together enough to give everyone an idea of what the game will look like! Hope you all enjoy this sneak peek at one of the backgrounds for the game, and the update!
Tumblr media
As always, feel free to follow my itch.io for the official game page, donate to my Ko-fi to support, or follow my Twitter to follow for any other updates! Until next time~

for fae and the rest of the poly - 💕💖💍
(ノ´ヮ`)ノ*: ・゚ Thank you for the ask! May your favorite kind of weather surround you soon!
💕 Describe an ideal date form them!
Claude is quick on his feet and can adapt, but he doesn't like doing anything he hasn't planned five exits to and at least two alternatives for. Hilda doesn't enjoy exerting herself, but she's still extroverted enough to want to be admired Doing Something (if only by her partners) and can easily be goaded if she's comfortable. Lorenz likes the arts, or to bear witness to any skill performed well. Fae likes trying new skills and group activities. An ideal date is one that's planned and includes some measure of exterior activity performed together: like watching theater or seeing an art exhibit or learning to surf or trying wall-climbing.
💖 What are some little subtle ways they show that they love each other?
Modern:
Claude changes his (and consequently everyone's) diet to suit Hilda's dietary restrictions. Fae makes ice; they've never thought about making ice, but they've seen the others drinking beverages with ice, so they start making ice to have ready. Realizing that her "turn" for most major cleaning duties never really seems to come up, Hilda tentatively starts light cleaning and organizing, fearful of the mockery of her childhood home, until she's able to ask for help with bigger tasks. Lorenz picks up texting patterns and music preferences based on influences of his partners.
Post canon / any setting:
Lorenz leave notes everywhere, little poems and soft words — but what is really important is when he is willing to write in the company of his partners, unafraid of people hovering over his shoulder because he trusts them not to. Claude being able / willing to "needlessly" share a bed for the purpose of sleep with his partners. Hilda sees three of the most touch-starved people / ex (?) fighters she's ever met in her life and decides she'll learn something about massages. Abuses Divine Pulse less and less, or abuses Divine Pulse the least, when with their partners, feeling very rarely that they've flubbed something unforgivable and that whatever they've said or done or experienced is fine as it is (in settings other than post canon just translate this to: feels less anxious after interactions that include their partners than otherwise. lol. I've like never written Fae outside of the company of their partners except some of Expanded Epilogue but even then they were only interacting with like Seteth and Alois who are also Family so.).
💍 Which one of them would propose? How would it happen? (or write if you feel like it!)
I love different versions of this. Unfortunately for everyone I am sharing a lot of my thoughts.
In my post-canon I don't have them all marry. I could change it, but I think they're fine as they are, dedicated and happy and more subtle. I count Claude's Goddess Tower proposal, and am excited to Eventually write Lorenz proposing to Hilda in my Hilorenz fic. It will happen.
In Fae-as-a-student au, I've been undecided about whether Fae or Hilda or BOTH leave with Claude to Almyra for a time post-canon, leaving Lorenz behind in Gloucester, BUT I absolutely imagine the four of them together, discussing the departure, and giving Lorenz the proposal, initially a soft, blurted, "Marry me." So that the others ask him if the proposal is reserved for Claude (whom he's looking at because at least Claude is absolutely leaving), and he can clarify that he doesn't just mean Claude and that they don't have to make a public ceremony or announcement until their / his return, but that he would like to make a promise, with those who would have him, before they leave, to keep them from forgetting him when they're far and away.
In A Comedy of Errors modern au, it's less a proposal than a conversation for Lorenz and Hilda to marry. Wait. I have a (bad) text conversation that I thought I might write a fic around once:
Hilda: we should get married
Claude: this is hands down, the worst proposal
Hilda: i'm not proposing!
Hilda: i just want to talk about it
Fae: is that about your insurance?
Hilda: no! .... not entirely
Hilda: what if Claude died in Almyra
Claude: thanks
Hilda: at least one of us would be able to find out about it from the authorities directly
Lorenz: now i want someone to divorce me. please take half my assets
Claude: i'll divorce you baby
Fae: grounds for divorce, right there in one pet name
Hilda: i'm not feeling heard here
Fae: i'm sorry hilda
Lorenz: sorry hilda
Claude: i would marry any of you, or all of you. is there a way you'd be picturing this?
Hilda: well, i figure it would be easier on Lorenz if he married me
Lorenz: marginally true
Claude: /:
Lorenz: you know i love you Claude but ......... my father's still alive and if we're relying on "at least he'll be dead soon" then i don't need to be written out of a will
Lorenz: and i might literally explode if i had to sit through him misgendering Fae for his last few years
Fae: <3
Lorenz: :kiss emoji:
Claude: was this your very roundabout way about asking if it was okay to marry Lorenz?
Hilda: no. i'm willing to hear other suggestions
Fae: i just don't want to sleep alone anymore
Lorenz: </3
Claude: awww
Hilda: ):
Lorenz: are you home now? i could visit for ... 45 minutes maybe?
Claude: just enough time (;
Fae: i am home
Lorenz: Give me ... half an hour
Lorenz: but first. we can do legal weddings whenever we want. i think we should get married.
Claude returns from Almyra a week or so before the wedding, by which time Fae has moved in with Lorenz and Hilda. Claude is earlier than he was expected, as his surprise to them, and they cherish the time. Four days or so after the wedding the four of them go on a date to an observatory where Fae proposes to Claude under the stars. (:
In my soulmate au, there is a proposal incoming by the end of the fic. Claude is going to ask Fae if they'd be comfortable with him proposing to Lorenz, or else offer to put it off, saying he's more confident with how Hilda will react because of their history. I'm still undecided if Claude should prepare something that amounts to a favorite meal for Lorenz in their apartment with the four of them or take them out to a park or beach or mountain or something, where he and Lorenz could have a moment alone. I'm also undecided how many hits Claude should drop in advance (his ... canon self is Not Subtle) but I hadn't planned on dropping them prior to the new year chapter which has finally happened. I think it would be another year or three before Fae and Hilda considered marrying and haven't given it too much thought aside from that. Fae would propose.
Hm, I can have more.
In Just Go With It modern au, Claude remembers the date of their first 'date,' and calls it an anniversary and only he is prepared for the first one, which he expects and is very smug about. It's not a milestone number, but for their fourth anniversary Hilda spends time (like a full year) talking herself into and out of and back again — the act of making rings for her partners, and whether or not they'll be a proposal or just a gift.
In my mermaid au they never have a formal proposal or ceremony.
In my fantasy au, Fae was 70 years a vampire when they met Claude, and they were together for 40 years before Claude proposed, and then they had their children and played at being family and "mundane" for some hundreds of years. They do something like this again when they marry Hilda and Lorenz a year or two after meeting them, again at Claude's proposal.
In my coffeeshop au, Hilda realizes she's pregnant with (Halvard) Lorenz's child and she "proposes" to Claude to start the legal tangle of custody so that they can each have some attachment to their son.

Honestly, I *DO* like episodes 7, 8, and 9. BUT I would have LOVED if they did everything they did AS PLANNED, and then added the alternatives film (the versions we got) as a bonus. Honestly I hate ROS because Rey is related to HIM. Lbh, NOBODY would have sex with p*alpatine
the problem with episodes 7-9 is that each is a standalone film. that is not a problem in itself since every other star wars trilogy movies could technically be watched as a standalone and with a little context you’d be fine, since they tell an overarching story with three more or less independent characters. episodes 7-9 do not tell an overarching story, they are each chapters to a different telling of rey’s story. ep 7 tells the story of rey nobody, who is both the narrative foil and the in-world counterpart of one of the strongest force users alive, and that’s honestly already a really good premise, buuuuut if we’re going to have a trilogy then that main conflict should be resolved either in the second movie or at the very least in the first half or so of the third because things! need! to! happen! for! a reason! except that they don’t because at the climax of the second film kylo tells rey she’s a nobody, and apparently that changes nothing within her resolve which..... fine, let’s push it and say she’s going to deal with that in the third movie, whatever, but we get to it and actually she’s palpatine’s granddaughter so actually she’s all the jedi which. UGH. the point I’m trying to make is that she is a completely linear character being thrown in three different takes of her story, and I hate to say this because I LOVE her, but after the second movie I totally got it when people said she was a mary sue because her faith in the force and the jedi and her kindness and blahblah NEVER really waivers (except when she gets angry at luke which. saves everyone! how fuckin convenient!) and you could come out and say “lori, if we think like that luke skywalker is also a mary sue”, which, again, don’t get me wrong because he is literally my son but he IS. and in the 80’s that is FINE cause it’s the story we needed - a story about this starry (heh) eyed guy whose unwaivering faith in people and The Magic Around Him™️ may seem a little misguided at first but ends up saving everyone, but that was 40 years ago. and maybe it was silly of me to expect a nuanced take on The Human Specificity Of Empathy from a star wars movie but you know what, I don’t think it was since gareth edwards paved the way with rogue one that is the epitome of analysis of what it really means to be good or bad and I’m not going to rant about how rogue one is the best star wars movie today BUT it set the tone for a less us-vs-them view of the world which was VERY exciting and in line with what I think the 2010-20’s really wants from its heroes in general. so if we want to follow the narrative beats of the first trilogy or at least the first movie (no way of knowing where jj abrams would’ve gone in ep 8) I think that’s fine so as long as you make it your own, and imo jj abrams was, and then rian johnson was like nope lol, and jj abrams tried to fix the narrative 180 rian johnson tried to do, and like. episode 8 is a very fun movie to watch as a star wars fan but narratively it does not make any fuckin sense. I thought so then and now with ep 9 out I think so even more. rian johnson is a very creative guy, he had some REALLY interesting ideas, but WHY give him the creative liberty to do so in the MIDDLEEEEE of the trilogy??? WHY!?!?!? give him a star wars story film! he would KILL it! or you know wait a couple years so the director of the first movie who actually knows what the fuck he’s doing can direct the second, but noooooo the damned fucking mouse wants to wipe his ass with $100 bills so we cannot possibly wait. cohesive storytelling? we don’t give a shit about that in the house of le mouse.
that all to say, there is nothing Fundamentally wrong narratively with either of the three movies. they’re fun to watch. even ep 8, possibly my least fav of the bunch, was a fun experience in cinemas. it’s star wars and disney - they know how to make a blockbuster. the thing is that as a trilogy they simply do not make any sense. if you analyze each movie individually all three seem to have different core themes: ep 7’s is “nobodies are people too actually”, 8 is “maybe space fascists aren’t so bad, actually (also luke is here hey luke)”, and 9 is “I take that back, nobodies aren’t a people actually”. it’s satisfying to watch as a casual spectator who goes to the movies, seems some space gays with one braincell between the three of them and is like coolio and then goes home, but it’s not satisfying to watch as someone even the littlest bit invested in the story because there is no cohesive roundup of everything. the original trilogy was like is luke an idiot for being nice? is vader actually redeemable? is han deserving of trust despite being a space nerf herder? and sometimes u were like what’s happenin!!!! but in the end all your questions are answered quite satisfactorily. luke was right, han is sexy, vader was redeemable. in the prequels: how does anakin skywalker become darth vader? how do he and obi juan become the enemies we see in the death star? what happens to padme? and while the sequels are a beautiful mess that I love they do answer the questions they put out when episode 1 begins, so you know, imagine liking the sequels and hating the prequels when the PREQUELS make more sense, the PREQUELSSSS. anywhomst, point is: the sequels are like here is finn. finn is the first stormtrooper we see the face of! he defects! also the first stormtrooper we se defect. the other defector we know is bodhi from r1, who is very sympathetic despite being imperial, and clearly we’re supposed to feel empathy for finn. finn survives! finn finds rey! go finn I love u! and then. WHAT happens to finn? what furthers his character development into a full fledged person when he starts out with not even a name? where’s his anger? where’s his OBVIOUS narrative direction that should be “ex stormtrooper who shows imperials that fascism is bad actually”? nope, goes almost unmentioned from then on. and again, I love finn, he is literally baby, but he also froze after ep 7 because rian johnson decided to fuck shit up and also because disney is racist. poe? the do-good soldier who is supposed to be the Believer™️? actually he is the only one who was any semblance of a coherent role in ep 8... which is promptly retconned when jj abrams makes him a fucking spice runner in ep 9 lol. who is rey? and they’re like she’s a nobody and that’s why she’s spesh, wait no she is a nobody but she’s spesh because space fascist has the hots for her, oh, no, wait, she’s spesh because PALPATINE. what was the theme of this trilogy? what was the thesis? what questions did they set out to answer and did they answer them at all, never mind well? and it’s unclear, obviously, because three movies with three clearly different views behind them won’t magically make narrative sense just because you are trying to piece them together. they’re not pieces at all, they are three independent takes on the stars and the wars. enjoyable as little snacky treats, not as a three meal course. (also I’m not even going to TOUCH on how what was already a narrative mess was made worse by disney’s NONSTOP fanservice. sw sequels and game of thrones last season are the cautionary tales of why fanservice sucks and while a good, intelligent if cliche or predictable story is always better than a Shocking™️ one that doesn’t make any sense. but if I start on that I will LITERALLY not shut up SO AHEM CONTINUE @LIZZIBENNET)
ALL that to say: I agree w/ u and I LOVE your idea of each movie being an alternative version of the story. honestly, that would make more sense than what we have right now off the bat lol. can you imagine ep 7 being the rose colored version of the story via the heroes’ lenses, and then ep 8 being the “actually space fascism is good if ur kylo ren” version of the story, and then, ep 9 is what actually happened... told by rey nobody, who dances the line between the good and bad until there’s not a line anymore. CHEF’S FUCKIN KISS obviously much more risqué than disney would ever go for, but genius! much better than trying to make us care about these conflicts that they make up in the first 15 mins of each movie. ur mad because episode 7 follows the beats of 4? here’s three movies on why you were wrong when you judged it all true and therefore Bad. HUHU I love that
also the galaxy is a vast place... I am sure there are emperor fuckers out there

Branded by KandiSheek (Stuckony)
“ Every child is born with two marks, one from their mother and one from their father. They say that each mark represents a lesson your soulmates will teach you, that you can gain more and more as you go through life. Tony was born with four. They said he was destined for greatness. If this is what greatness looks like then Tony doesn't want it. “
Calls Me Home by steve-capsicle-rogers (adorable_lab_rat) (Stony; Time Travel)
“Tony can't help but notice the far away look on Steve's face. The visible pain and loss. It wasn't right and giving Steve back everything he'd lost was the right choice. The right thing. And honestly Tony didn't do the right thing near enough.prompt fic: time travel, WWII, Steve/Tony“
Say When by ann2who (Chapters 9/9; Stony)
“** Iron Man 2 AU ⎪Undercover AU **** Can be read as a stand alone!
**Book 1 of the Say When series. An alternate version of Iron Man 2. What if Steve was unfrozen early? What if instead of Natasha, Steve got assigned to help Tony while the genius was slowly dying of palladium poisoning? What if he never revealed his identity to him until the very moment the Avengers first came together, forming a team?”
Man Out of Time by samptra (Chapters 15/15; Stony; Time Travel)
“ Closing dark eyes he tried to center his wildly gyrating thoughts. “This isn’t happening this isn’t real…” he wacked his head a few more times, “I did not go through a weird tear in the air again. There was no crazy terreract driven machine…and I defiantly did not go back in time.” This was all some sort of dream he was having a nightmare one that he’d awake from in his bed, in Avengers Tower, in the year 2013. “
The Future is Yet in Your Power by FestiveFerret (Stony; Time Travel)
"Now." Wong leaned back in his chair. "What would you do to save this world from Thanos' attack? What would you sacrifice?"
"Anything," Steve said. "Anything at all."
Wong considered him for a moment, expression unreadable. "There's one thing, maybe."
When Brown Eyes Met Blue by AShortInfinity (Stony)
“The first time brown eyes met blue, it was a fleeting glance; nothing that stood out to either person. The party had too many brown eyes, blue eyes, hazel eyes, and green eyes for these two particular sets to catch each other for very long. It was more along the lines of a simple acknowledgement of the other’s existence before the eyes moved on, meeting more colors and forgetting them as quickly as they were seen. But the second time brown eyes met blue, the world stood still. And they became desperately, unapologetically lost.Or where Tony and Steve don't know who the other is, until the morning after they have sex and find out they're on the Avengers team together. Whoops.“
The Blue Jay and The Bunny by pomegranateboy (Chapters 10/10; WinterIron)
“ What if Howard Stark knew that Hydra had infiltrated SHIELD? What if he just... didn't care? In fact, what if he just sent Tony away to be raised by the organization?”
slipping through the years by often_adamanta (Stony)
“ The plane crash and subsequent ice might have killed him, but that doesn’t mean he isn’t still around, haunting those he cares about. And since the only person who can see him is Tony Stark, death sure isn’t going to be boring. “
Dream A Little Dream Of Me by ann2who (Chapters 2/2; Stony)
“Back in 1943, Steve Rogers is left with the aftermath of Project Rebirth. His days are filled with fighting Hydra on German soil, his dreams, however, are occupied by a very handsome stranger. A stranger, who barges into his life like a hurricane, and throws Steve’s expectation of love right out of the window. The guy’s aggravating, unpredictable, and yet, irritatingly handsome. The more Steve’s dreams and waking life blur together, the more he finds himself drawn to the man. But how can he fall in love with someone who might not even be part of his world?”
Or Call Me Something Else by FestiveFerret (Chapters 6/6; Stony)
“ There are things Steve Rogers doesn't like about the future - see: Instagram - and there are things Steve Rogers loves about the future - see: hot, wild, no-strings-attached sex with Tony Stark. That is, until Tony drops the "b" word, and Steve realizes that what he thought was casual fun was something much more serious to the other man. “
Still Alive by araydre, Menatiera, Neutralchaos, yeppers (Chapters 12/12; WinterIron)
“ The Winter Soldier escaped from Hydra, and on the run, It needs a Mechanic to maintain the very efficient weapon attached to its body. It decides the best person for the work is the world's best weapon expert: Tony Stark. Abducting him goes unexpectedly well. Then, complications come. “
The Twice-Told Tale by arysteia (Stony)
“ For someone he'd hero-worshipped for so long, Steve Rogers in the flesh is a pretty big disappointment. For one thing, he keeps looking at Tony as though he reminds him of someone else, and even if he never says anything, Tony's pretty sure it's his father. A lifetime of not measuring up to Howard's expectations is more than enough, thank you very much, and he's certainly not going to make an effort to live up to any of Steve's. Steve's pretty clearly failed to live up to his expectations, in any case, and that's not hypocritical at all. “

40 Questions — Meme for Fic Writers
Don’t you sometimes see those ask games and wish you could just fkg do them all? On this sunny Saturday, we make our dreams reality lolol
1.  Describe your comfort zone—a typical you-fic.
Short fic, I usually get a small scene I want written so I write around it, plus I love short stories with interesting punchline.
2.  Is there a trope you’ve yet to try your hand at, but really want to?
Probably, I don’t know them all ^^’
3.  Is there a trope you wouldn’t touch with a ten foot pole?
Writing about stuff that disgust me I guess.
4.  How many fic ideas are you nurturing right now? Care to share one of them?
Like 5-6? I want to write about a restaurant but set in a world where people have powers I think the combo could be very funny. The main character has the power of insight, the plonge is a giant pool where you swim around cleaning. Backstories of characters with shitty and amazing powers and how they ended up here. Rival to lover character that has the power to see into the future.
5. Share one of your strengths.
Dialogues, subversion, and humor; classmates often said I have a touch to spin a sad story into something positive/happier.
6.  Share one of your weaknesses?
I get tired when I describe something for longer than 4 sentences.
7.  Share a snippet from one of your favorite pieces of prose you’ve written and explain why you’re proud of it.
“In what kind of trouble have we walked right into?”, I ask my companions as they’re idly fixing their attire. Together, we’ve face many perils and this mission ranks among one of the most dangerous. Yet, the others had been…how should I say it…professional! Rescuing kidnapped princesses, vanquishing terrifying monsters, quests to restore mythical artifacts, save nations from insidious plots. Oddly enough, “Does this dress make me look fat?”, is not the answer I’m looking for.
Ribbon in my hair is the first time I wrote about my knights, I first dreamt about them when I as 18, my boyfriend at the time called my idea stupid and my world building pointless so I only started writing about them when I was 21. Now I write about them a little bit every year :)
8. Share a snippet from one of your favorite dialogue scenes you’ve written and explain why you’re proud of it.
“Do you really want your last words to be complaints?”
“I die as I lived.”
“Will we become a fruit tree?”
“I don’t think so, it’s never been the case for my ancestors.”
“I’d love it if we could turn into a banana tree.”
“I’m not from the southern regions, plus I like apples more.”
“Just imagine, our fruits could have been banana flambée”
This death scene was a big finale to a story I wrote for a class in Uni, a story of war between clan of forest and volcano people, of the supposedly brutal death of a Goddess, of a mysterious apple tree whose fruit give vision of the past. I should revisit it.
9.  Which fic as been the hardest to write?
My analysis on D’Artagnan and the figure of the hero. Granted it’s an essay for school but I deeply loved it. I was too afraid to write or ask for help from the professor in charge of me (which made our relationship tense ^^’) but when I did, it was beautiful and I was very proud got 89% :D
10.  Which fic has been the easiest to write?
A play called Adelaide where an old couple reads their old fairytale book about a Prince on a quest to save a Princess. They bicker about the other misreading the story but we finally get to the part where the Prince tosses the princess apart to get a better view of the dragon of which he falls instantly in love. The book is actually their wedding album.
11.  Is writing your passion or just a fun hobby?
It’s one of my passions, but it’s not something I think I could live on so I delegated it to my hobby.
12.  Is there an episode above all others that inspires you just a little bit more?
The wedding scene in Shrek 2, my mind was blown when I saw it in theaters and when I need inspiration to write, I rewatch it.
13.  What’s the best writing advice you’ve ever come across?
Presentation is important. If trying to read you gives people headaches, they’ll stop. Choose a nice big font, space with paragraphs, be mindful of your spelling and missing words. Read out loud because some things written are bad said.
14.  What’s the worst writing advice you’ve ever come across?
I must’ve been lucky in this regard, I don’t think I’ve ever received advice that made me go NO, but I did have to listen/read stuff that made me gag.
15.  If you could choose one of your fics to be filmed, which would you choose?
I would love to the Adelaide acted out, some adjustments would be required because I’m no expert in play writing but I think I’d be great.
16.  If you only could write one pairing for the rest of your life, which pairing would it be?
Luyenor’a and Taram, names are placeholders as of now but they’re two of my knight, being the “only pairing I’m allow to write about forever” means I’d get more knight shenanigans done.
17.  Do you write your story from start to finish, or do you write the scenes out of order?
I’m doing bullets point of what I want to happen and write stuff without much order. Some days I have no inspirations for what goes in the beginning but have loads for a later point. I surf the wave when it presents itself.
18.  Do you use any tools, like worksheets or outlines?
Word on my computer, a notebook in my bag, the note app in my phone.
19. Stephen King once said that his muse is a man who lives in the basement. Do you have a muse?
I have little trinkets all around my computer to invite inspiration.
20. Describe your perfect writing conditions.
Freshly woken up, having eaten, drinking something sugary and sometimes apple cider because the alcohol help lower my inhibition.
21.  How many times do you usually revise your fic/chapter before posting?
I read out loud at least once the whole thing, helps with missing words but dude I reread my stuff on ao3 and always find mistakes still ^^’
22. Choose a passage from one of your earlier fics and edit it into your current writing style. (Person sending the ask is free to make suggestions).
I’m not going to put here because it’s in French and I don’t want to translate now but I wrote Vision of a world, mine when I was 16 and damn was I already depressed then?
23.  If you were to revise one of your older fics from start to finish, which would it be and why?
The Princess and the Soldier, some gay fairytale I think my first one, I’m sure I can do better bow
I also have one about a janitor and it’s a murder mystery I could redo
24. Have you ever deleted one of your published fics?
Once by accident, I was so angry I never rewrote it.
25.  What do you look for in a beta?
I don’t really use beta (beta reader right?) but I guess I’ve had like 3-4 when I was in Uni and had to read people’s wip and they read mine. They’d talk about what they liked, links they noticed, things that seemed weak or to change
26.  Do you beta yourself? If so, what kind of beta are you?
I usually just point out the stuff I like
27.  How do you feel about collaborations?
For a class in college, we had to act out a play we wrote collectively. Ten sketches written in pairs/alone. I made sure I was alone so I wouldn’t be saddled with someone else to write my sketch
28. Share three of your favorite fic writers and why you like them so much.
I don’t follow fic writers; I just am in a mood for a ship and read what’s available. I do like my friend @alumort ‘s fics tho ^^
29.  If you could write the sequel (or prequel) to any fic out there not written by yourself, which would you choose?
There was a Phineas and Ferb fic focused on Perry I really loved. Their world building was something I’d never seen and they abandoned the story, so I did fanfic of a fic. Never dared to post it anywhere I mean it was their world to begin with.
30.  Do you accept prompts?
Of course, when inspiration is given I accept
31.  Do you take liberties with canon or are you very strict about your fic being canon compliant?
I don’t care about canon but I do love using it when there are little trivia to enrich the character.
32.  How do you feel about smut?
Love to read it sometimes, would love to write it. Some I’m like………….youveneverhadsexhaveyou…………………
33.  How do you feel about crack?
Love it!!!!!!!! I’m too self-conscious to write it tho. Oh maybe that could be a never before written trope I could try?
34.  What are your thoughts on non-con and dub-con?
Rape I can’t, dub-con where underlying requited feelings exist but anxiety™ don’t let the characters express them but they’re drunk so it surfaces is okay
35.  Would you ever kill off a canon character?
Hell yeah! I do when/if the death makes sense (I am still pissed at Kishi for Neji)
36.  Which is your favorite site to post fic?
Ao3 is where I post,I used devianart when I had one
37.  Talk about your current wips.
Marry Me for the Love of Cake: God I’m so sorry to the few people who followed it, I said I’d pick it up before the end of 2019 and well……I have the ending in bullet points
Yours, with Love: I hope I’ll finish it…I have most of the ending in bullet points
I guess I’m into rom com at the moment lolol
38.  Talk about a review that made your day.
I made my best friend read All this for a Roll Cake, and she laughed so much at my work, I took a picture I look at from time to time to remain humble.
39.  Do you ever get rude reviews and how do you deal with them?
Thankfully I’ve never received a rude review. My professor once told me it seemed kinda unnatural how unlucky my protagonist was vs. how lucky his love interest was (All this for a Roll Cake) but that was the whole point of the story so I just ignored her.
40.  Write an alternative ending to [insert fic title] (or just the summary of one).
Writing this I realised I lost my final version of All this for a Roll Cake T^T so I guess I’d rewrite the ending I have of the before the last version I still have.
Well this was fun ^^ got to revisit my works and remember many beloved pieces of fiction I wrote, I look forward to my next projects
