“Yeah.” Regulus blinks once, then wets his lips. “Dinner.” “I personally had a great time that night.” James taunts, hoping to goad Regulus into agreeing, or at least giving him something. He knows he keeps asking things of Regulus, which is how he also knows that Regulus is a stubborn little shit won’t give, just to piss off James. Regulus swallows. “It was…satisfactory.” He croaks, a faint pink beginning to dust the highpoints of his cheekbones. James snorts in response and inches a bit closer to Regulus on the couch, closing a bit of the distance between them. Perhaps James should be annoyed by that analysis, because if there is any word that can describe him in bed, it’s enthusiastic. ‘Satisfactory’ could never be enough. Still, he and Regulus both know that he is wildly underexaggerating that claim. “Uh huh.” James laughs a bit. “Any pointers, then? To improve, of course.” Regulus’ cheeks turn redder, but he tilts his chin up and attempts an easy smirk. “Talk less, I’d say.” He says, pretending to ponder and look thoughtful. “Yeah, I’d say I’m always partial to having to hear you as little as possible.”

in a feat of shocking and mediocre productivity, i have begun writing a wolfstar raising harry fic. i love this category of fics SO MUCH so i had to give it a shot for myself.

it begins just after the events of the prisoner of azkaban, and diverges from canon from there. i'm hoping to explore harry's feelings around having guardians who actually care for him, and remus and sirius figuring out how to raise this 14 year old.

James was overly cautious regarding Regulus’ health, and Regulus was tired of it. James was hovering and mothering and Regulus just wanted to hop on his broom again and get lost in the sky. Regulus hadn't been cleared for Quidditch yet, but he figured he could get away with flying a little, just to get some fresh air.

James had his arms crossed over his chest and a stern look in his brown eyes, peering down at Regulus. Regulus was batting his eyes at him, James’ weakness, an innocent enough smile on his lips, begging him to just break—

“Only if I go with you.”

Regulus startled, then held out his hand to shake. “Deal.”

This sounded like a double win, for Regulus—huddled between his boyfriend's arms, flying for the first time in weeks, hair whipping past and feeling the air on his skin. He was nearly vibrating with excitement.

His excitement died quickly when he realized their proximity on the broom meant James would be wrapped around him and breathing down his neck. He couldn't even focus on the flying anymore, with James’ lips millimeters from his skin. He knew how those lips felt on him, kissing him, mapping him out—they were sinful, and it was very distracting for James to be so damn close.

James' lips brushed lightly against his skin and he made a surprised noise, pushing back into James. James huffed an amused sound, and Regulus felt his breath skitter across the back of his neck. He shivered in James’ arms, skin too sensitive and close to begging James to kiss him.

He turned his head. “Let’s land,” he yelled over the rush of air.

James nodded dutifully and brought them to the ground, holding steady to Regulus’ waist as he hopped off the broom. “What’s wrong, baby, did I—”

Still half-sitting on the broom, Regulus collapsed into James’ arms and tugged him close in a kiss, desperate for his attention, his kisses, his every touch. James was quick to react, lifting him and holding him tight to his chest, meeting him for every kiss.

James smiled against his mouth. He pulled away enough to say, “Eager, are we?”

Regulus looked up at him with mussed hair and pink-bitten lips. He smacked his chest lightly. “Never. I just miss you. And the flying was—something, James, i mean, merlin you were breathing down my neck—”

James smirked, squeezing his sides playful. “Oh, is that what that shiver was about then?”

Reguous flushed, puffing out his chest. ”Merlin, shut up, shut up, you’re prettier with your mouth closed.”

James’ eyes were dancing with amusement. He shook his head in laughter and kissed the tip of Regulus' nose. Regulus’ heart was warm and floaty as they made their way back to the castle hand in hand. James would often press kisses to the top of his curls or his cheek. He felt lighter than he had in weeks. Maybe James’ kisses were his own personal medicine.

355k, jegulus wolfstar rosekiller. post war (ended by regulus) where they just hang around grimmauld place all day. i literally cant remember anything that happened. but i liked how they stayed home and didnt go outside, because i relate to that. it was alternating chapters between post war and pre war, honestly i dont even know it was just so much relationship angst and regulus being incredibly competent and hurt.

All The Young Dudes

526k, the character development and buildup, its like the level of the actual series without the annual voldemort attack. i was DESTROYED by the ending, it lived in my brain rent free for like a week. why did it have to be canon compliant???! the way they spent so much time pining, so much time apart, and so little time together. but that theyre literal soulmates, which is so sad for grant (he suffered true emotional damage) lmfao. I guess this is the basis (canon??) of marauders era

321k fake dating au. this is GREAT. its so light hearted which is a great change from the akckdjebakzj. this is the climb to the top for regulus being my favourite character. lowkey can't remember shit but i liked it and i need more fics like it because it was creative and there's not much room for that in marauders verse

645k and The fic of my dreams. this is everything and i loved every second of it. every character is so great, and it got me into pandalily!!! perfect amount of hurt (a lot), and such good plot. it has every ship i like, i was like drowning in a hot spring of happiness while reading this

147k, oh it's so creative and new. it was so suspenseful cos we got 0 answers, and the fic is deadass incomplete wtf!! i love how everyone is sad but mostly rational. the jegulus was really really nice, and i liked how the cruciatus was made out to be a big deal so the hurt/comfort is better. i feel like the plot is better than the delivery

wolfstar my one true pair, jegulus my second true pair, evan®ulus has a special place in my heart, marauders fanfiction a permanent space in my mind for at least the next few weeks

122k. rosekiller is the BEST. i love the whole plot tbh and it was so well paced. love that for evan because nobody else is gonna keep by with barty's crazy. i would have liked it more if it had crack undertones but yknow whatever, cant have everything. i thoroughly enjoyed all the romantic tension in the leadup, the way they were both so in love im gone.

All the young dudes - Sirius' Perspective

628k, let me tell you, canon has no right being that sad, and the beloved author just fed off that like a parasite. i should have expected how this fanfic would destroy me, but the delivery made it so much more painful. i sobbed reading the Halloween and Azkaban chapters. and sirius,,, like why did you have to be so angry all the time. and so obsessed with remus from day 1. it was great. although like halfway through i just felt like ... wolfstar is so basic. jegulus once jegulus forever i guess.
