Mama & Baby

Hi, just a little something I wrote after reading some of the dialogue of the event!!! It filled me with mama and baby so I give back héhé!!

Please, be mindful as there is light spoilers in the event!

The day had been long… and cold.

Tartaglia was exhausted and all he wanted was to set home, crash in the nearest couch and hug one of his siblings or his baby Teucer. He’d figure what else to do later, but this was the priority.

The House’s door appeared so far away.

Yet so close.

Tartaglia couldn’t help hurry up, trotting to reach the knob and turn it. “I’m home,” he happily sung.

No sound.

That was weird. Maybe was it already later than he believed so. The house was still lit up but his parents may be in the living room, reading together. Or… yikes, Tartaglia didn’t want to think about what else they could be doing.

He removed his boots quickly and barely tapped them on the floor to remove the snow from them before walking in. He reached first the kitchen as he saw light coming from there and there was the place he risked the less to see… make-out.

What wasn’t his surprise to find Teucer sniffing as he stared as a half-empty plate.

“What is happening my baby?!” Tartaglia called.

“Ajax!” the little boy squeaked.

It always hurt Tartaglia’s heart to hear him call him ‘Ajax’ instead of mama but he knew it was better for the little boy to take him for his brother and nothing else…

Tartaglia pulled the chair next to him and sat close, holding out his arms to hug him and lay kisses on the freckles mirroring his.

“It’s being late my baby. We should wash you and get you to bed. I’ve a new Mr Cyclops story to tell you.”

Teucer’s eyes lightened up behind the curtains of tears. He snuggled in the embrace with joy.

“No.”

Teucer squeaked again, but this time, there was fear and not surprise in his eyes.

“Father?” Tartaglia said, caressing the chestnut hair of his baby.

“Teucer didn’t finish his meal. He will leave the table when he will be done.”

Tartaglia frowned. He turned the head towards Teucer. “Why aren’t you finishing your meal?” he gently asked.

He saw some vegetables Teucer didn’t like, maybe was it that. But Tartaglia must be able to make him eat something. He dug the fork in the pickled cabbage. The little boy didn’t answer, but Tartaglia didn’t mind, simply smiling to his baby making an effort to open the mouth and accepting the fork without Tartaglia even tricking him with a “one fork for me!”

But it didn’t seem enough for his father. “Teucer had enough appetite to eat candies, he must have enough for this.”

Teucer sniffed again.

“Candies?” Tartaglia repeated.

“I missed you,” Teucer said under his breath. “I came to the reserve… the candies reminded you, so…”

It was true that candies were quite expensive, a delicacy in Snezhnaya. Almost all of them came from Tartaglia. And Tartaglia was away for a few days, unless it was already weeks?

But this didn’t really explain the cry of his brother.

The two words slipped from his lips without him really realizing it. “What else?”

“Nothing else. But he refused to eat,” the father said.

Tartaglia cupped the round little cheeks. “What else?” he repeated. “What happened.”

“Daddy yelled at me…” Teucer said under his breath.

Tartaglia had to make efforts not to lose his smile at the instant. He caressed his baby’s cheek and laid a kiss on his forehead.

“You should go wash yourself and I’ll tell you a story.”

Teucer glanced at his father but before he could see the disapprobation in his eyes, Tartaglia had already grabbed him by the waist to put him on the floor and send him upstairs.

Tartaglia then got up as well and turned towards his father.

“You yelled at him until he cried,” he said, “to the future, you better refract yourself to do such thing.”

“Are you threatening me?”

“No, I’m making you a promise. Mistreat again my baby and you’ll feel it pass.” Water appeared in his palms, shaping itself in a strange sharp shape. “Don’t forget I’m the one who pay your rent and help to put food in your cupboard. I can leave at any time.”

Tartaglia wouldn’t leave Tonia and Anthon in a bad situation, thought! But as a Harbinger, he didn’t doubt he could do something to guarantee their surety. And Teucer’s…

He was the most important for him.

Little did Tartaglia know that Teucer grasped some of those words as he climbed up the stairs. In the future, he wouldn’t make anything that could upset… his mama? He couldn’t handle to hear him argue every time he came back with their father…

Me: Time to feed the babies! Camellia: I've got this one! Last weekend I had to step in and help out sweet Camellia with her kids as she wasn't producing enough milk and we weren't sure why Ceylon and Matcha were sick. The first few days we kept them in separate rooms, but after it became clear that everyone else is healthy, we let her have access to her babies again, but she was mostly just acting as supervisor, checking to see if I was doing my job! Now that Chai, Darjeeling, and Earl Grey are nice and CHONKY, Camellia decided to step back into motherhood, and give me a break!! I know the boys are happy to see her again too!
