TW: violence, trauma.
It's been 7 years since Philando Castile (July 16, 1983 - July 6, 2016) was murdered during a traffic stop by police officer Jeronimo Yanez in the Minneapolis–Saint Paul metropolitan area.
Today we're thinking of Diamond Reynolds and her daughter.

All bad apples. #abolishthepolice #Repost @callmeshivy with @use.repost ・・・ I am just heartbroken by this one. Keenan Anderson was somebody’s high school ENGLISH TEACHER!? A DAMN TEACHER… and TASED him to death!? This man flagged down officers for help following his involvement in a CAR ACCIDENT!? And what did he get??? An overzealous and egotistical cop that triggered events that would steal his life. NOTHING has improved since 2020! We STILL have NOT realized NATIONAL police reform! STILL. This time… we lost a TEACHER because of inaction. #justiceforkeenananderson #keenananderson #blacklivesmatter #sayhisname #defundthepolice #lapd #policebrutality #policemurder #police #racism #acab #policeviolence https://www.instagram.com/p/CnXA0JAOSg-/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

I have a 28 year old black son. This could’ve been my son, your son, nephew, brother, or friend. I refuse to watch the videos. I have seen enough throughout Black History and media. To be frank, I cannot even keep up with all the deaths as a result of police killings. I often wonder what more can we do. I’ve prayed. I’ve protested. I’ve folded into my career by elevating important topics to help dismantle and disrupt systemic oppression and inequities in hopes that our youngest children can have a better future. But, I know there is so much more to do. In case you’re wondering, what can you do: continue praying for our children’s protection; check in with your Black friends/colleagues/staff; educate yourself on anti-racism, biases, systemic issues, and police brutality; support and take action for sustained efforts in your workplace and community; lift up peer intervention; demand accountability and change in police brutality/culture. (Side Note: Yes, I’m aware that the killing of Tyre Nichols was committed by Black officers. This does not surprise me considering the police culture, systemic oppression in our country, and the role media plays. A suspension/expulsion preschool study noted, white and black teachers were harder on black boys.) There is a lot of conditioning through schooling, socialization, and media about anti-black messaging. So, I will pray for his family. It starts with you. #tyrenichols #changestartswithyou #changestartswithin #policebrutality #policekillings #antiblackracism #ipray #stillpraying #sayhisname #anothervictim https://www.instagram.com/p/Cn8ba21rooL/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Today, we say Khalil's name loud and clear, refusing to let his memory fade into the silence of injustice. Khalil was more than a victim; he was a son, a friend, a life cut short by systemic failures. We pledge to remember him, to seek justice, and to ensure that his name echoes in the pursuit of change. ✊🏿✊🏾✊🏽

#MYBlackHistory When you think about it, it's actually unfortunate the number of issues we've had to #step for in modern-day America. A fraternity I don't wish on anyone, the fraternity of those done unjustly, the fraternity no1 should have to join. 💔 Our ancestors stepped for us, this will be the LAST generation that has to risk mind, body, and soul...
