psa that the day there are no jgy stans left on tumblr dot com is the day i am dead
but rest assured i'll go to my grave exactly as i lived: obnoxiously proclaiming to everyone within earshot how great lianfang-zun is. narratively, metaphorically, spiritually. sexually, too, like why limit myself. i like to keep my options open

for anyone who doesn't watch any minecraft youtubers that do lore/servers, please.
try to imagine a show where every single character has their own point of view show, with their own shenanigans, storyline, editing-style, etc.
you go from watching a happy little man with elf ears and a whimsical smile who's a theme park owner. go to another pov and it's a giant fucking green guy with horns and cyborg parts with funky music as his intro and the sound of a goat crying and he's cackling madly explaining how he's about to shoot a missile at his neighbor every day for the rest of their life because the neighbor dug a hole on his property. he's neighbors with the whimsical theme park owner
i cannot watch normal shows anymore

S2 of Hazbin already giving me X-Men vibes in the sense that the entire story revolves around two old men making their relationship drama everyone else's problem
I have not seen x men so I'm just taking the latter part of this ask
I mean considering how vox is apparently gonna be the main MAIN antagonist of season 2 that sounds about right LMAOOOO
and you know it's funny because vox legitimately has like no other motivation for the hotel other than alastor, any conflict with the hotel and him is absolutely going to involve alastor
like. most of the hotel literally have not even interacted with him other than PENTIOUS who's in HEAVEN. and well angel dust but they haven't had a proper on-screen interaction yet, all we know is they know of each other's presence due to their connections with val.
in fact, most of the main cast have had more interactions with or at least been in the same room with val more than vox. like angel dust is a given, but charlie interacted with val in episode 4, niffty, husk and cherri directly faced val eye to eye in episode 6 (and well in niffty's case, a bit more than that LMAO). vaggie's at least seen val from heaven's courtroom through the magic ball thing.
so honestly seems like the vee the hotel is most familiar with is val, which is funny because alastor has literally never been in a room with val on screen (insert alastor's sex aversion and val being an alastor repellent joke here). and even though he never interacted with velvette, he's the only one of the main cast to have ever been in a room with her. alastor being here like "yes please go ahead and waste all your interactions on valentino. I will sit here being the only one to interact with the other 2 vees, who may be just as bad as him but are ones I am able to tolerate a bit more, just don't put me in a room with him."
anyways sorry I got a bit off track but yeah with vox being the main MAIN antagonist, 100% his and alastor's drama will probably have to take the forefront considering he's the only one of the main cast he has any sort of significant interaction with.

The fact that Main-verse Ooo is as good and as kind as it is (relative to the other universes shown so far, at least, it's obviously not perfect) all because of the same character that starts off as the OG series' antagonist, the person we were made to see as the bad guy (albeit an often ineffectual one) for several seasons, is making me lose my mind.
Imagine finding out the guy you spent your childhood beating up and saving princesses from is in fact a driving catalyst behind you being able to exist, and not only exist but also live in a world that knows what kindness is. All because that man, the same man who you've witnessed do terrible things, once met a little girl and taught her how to be good.
Simon's story really shows us that even if you lose your way and forget how it is to be good yourself, the world keeps the memory for you. That act of love Simon showed Marcy by protecting her and seeing her as more than the monster she thought herself to be created ripples upon ripples, small at first but eventually enough to help give their wreckage of a world—a world that easily could have been forsaken, its goodness overlooked because of its inhospitable remains—a chance to grow into something beautiful. Because of those very same ripples Simon created, the people of Ooo grew up in a world where they know enough about kindness that they were able and willing to spare the 'bad guy' some, to see beyond the wreckage and allow him to grow too.
In saving Marceline, Simon helped to not only to save the world, but also himself.

and btw the protagonist is just the main character of a story, the antagonist is just someone who opposes them, regardless of their affiliations. the protagonist is not necessarily a hero and the antagonist is not necessarily a villain. btw

Spenser in "Crafting a Mystery with Spenser Starke": So Travis sent me a big, long narrative explanation of how he got into Candela. [...] He gave me a monster that essentially was trying to take on the form of other people, and he gave me the idea that Allison Suarez was hurt because of this monster. He gave me all the gifts in his backstory, and that's the kind of thing where as a GM, you just go, "Well, guess my work here is done."

the sheep do not deserve the absolute shredding they get from the fanbase 😭 it isn’t generally the fault of the fans, i blame it more on whatever the fuck bones studio did to fifteen in the anime adaptation bc fuck knows that was all over the place, but man i wish people were a little more sympathetic towards them
yes they absolutely ordered chuuya around like a dog and yes they stabbed him. we can agree that was bad. but i feel like you really have to consider the context
the sheep are separate from other organisations in bsd in that they are formed entirely of young orphans who are likely mostly traumatised. they live on the streets and also have to cope with larger organisations like the mafia lurking around— they are scared and rightfully so
i always think back to the lines in storm bringer where it mentions the sheep drinking alcohol under a bridge. they’re clearly all very troubled kids who are struggling just to survive
yeah i don’t think that cornering and stabbing chuuya was right but i don’t hold much blame over their heads for the things they did when it’s obvious that it’s their situation making them so scared and paranoid. the sheep weren’t just some average toxic friends that were out to get you, they were traumatised kids trying to survive

I'm just gonna say it again real quick:
Yes!! Iron Man is a tragedy! It has and always has been since the very first appearance in 1963 which describes itself, Tony's life, and legacy, as such.
Tony causes most of his issues himself, he is his biggest villain, a majority of his rogues gallery are caricatures of the worst versions of himself brought to life (when they're not just being racist cuz...60s...). The worst thing about being Tony Stark is that he can't stop being Tony Stark (he tried!!) That is the point.
The majority of pain Tony goes through, is pain he inflicts on himself, whether intentionally or inadvertently. That is the point.
He is not A villain (at least. Not usually. There are...some rough moments and arcs that are. Not great. As there is with any character as old as he is). But he is his own main antagonist.

One thing that is sadly lacking in the Death Note fanfiction community is Light being written as this ominous and creepy character. Like yes he is a goofy little meow meow, yes he has been dissected to hell and back and portrayed as what exactly what he is (delulu serial killer) but.
Where is the average person's view of Kira? A seemingly godlike figure that lives in the shadows of society. That feels omniscient and scary. Who can kill you at any moment they wanted after they had your name.
Then Light Yagami, Kira's facade. Whose every facate is a lie, who is always where he needs to be, watching, listening, planning. Who was able to fool people close to him for years. Who killed the greatest detective in the world without needing to lift a finger, just manipulation.
I feel like through experiencing the series through Light's (fucking fantastic) point of view, we lost the real oomph and terrifying impact that was his character.

MDZS: gives us a perfectly happy, wonderfully written WangXian that hits all the Good™ Romance™ tropes while keeping the development grounded and genuine.
Me: *crying, instead, over Jiang Cheng/Nie Huaisang and Nie Mingjue/Meng Yao (Jin Guangyao)/Lan Xichen, clutching them tightly to bosom over the (also fantastically written) tragedy of their past traumas ripping them apart and leaving them scarred and alone and bitter without any supports to lean on*
