I have a big google doc thing where I keep track of media and stuff (putting everything in loosely ranked categories), which is mostly just for my own reference so I know what tv shows I've already seen before, etc. and I never really look back through it, typically just a quick "okay, watched two movie in the past 8 months, need to quickly slap them somewhere in the lists. okay. done. save document. exit". But today I was actually reading through some of the old notes and there are like... MULTIPLE places where my comment is basically "It would have been good if it were about elves" or "I wish there was a fantasy show made in this same style" or "It's well made, but I just keep thinking about how I would like it more if everyone was an elf or was in old 1700s costumes" or etc like...... lol.... Most biased media ranking system on earth blatantly made by someone with an extremely hyperspecific range of narrow interests. It'd be like if a food reviewer only had 5 foods they actually liked, so they'd just go to a pizza place and be like "eh, the pizza was okay, but I just think it would be better if it was cereal instead. :/ ...2 out of 10"
#Which.. I mean... I am allowed to be biased because literally it's just for my own personal reference (or occasionall#y to send to friends or something if we're discussing the topic) so like.. nowhere am I saying 'I am the god of perfect taste and these#rankings are objectively the absolute truth and everyone should have my same opinion' or anything#BUT still.. it's funny to me sometimes#'Succession would be 100x better if it had the same cast/character quirks and shaky camera style and#acting choices/weird dialogue and general concept etc. EXCEPT it takes place within an elven noble family or something#managing the family business and everyone is in fantasy costumes now'' like.....okay...... but it's NOT that way..soo... thats not the show#''I like the acting style/general tone of Fleabag but i don't care for any of the characters or any of the subject matter and I wish it was#set in the 1800s and had vampires and was about magic instead'' okay..... again... you are making up an entirely new show in that case lol#OR my other beloved typical complaint ''The concept is good but theres too much plot and action and not enough people just sitting#around doing nothing and exposition dumping world and character lore'' ''this needs more goofy sideplots and filler episodes''#''this Drama was too dramatic I think it should be more lighthearted & people need to sit around doing nothing just being weird more often'#''the Action Movie was ok except for the action scenes - which I skipped through all of- but I liked the costumes and worldbuilding'' etc.#ERM sorry your plot has too much plot. also elves have to be included somehow. bye#BUT SERIOUSLY!!!!!! I literally genuinely believe that any show I like (or even dislike) could ALWAYS be improved greatly by#putting people in fantasy or historical costume/setting/etc... why the FUNK would I want to see bland jeans and cars and cell phones#when I could see elaborate velvet cloaks and fantastical landscapes and interior design and innovative takes on historical or#magical technology or etc. etc. etc. I LIVE in the modern day. I see it all the time!!! BORING! stinky!! boo!!!#ANYWAY... another social divide for me.. People love to bond by discussing media. which is hard when I'm like#'I literally will not watch something at all unless it fits into one of these 10 extremely specific categories which are all i care about i#the entire world''.. I say this and yet I still dislike most fantasy or historical things I've watched lol. ok TWO main criteria then!!#it must 1. be in a different world or time period. 2. be goofy silly. Nothing ever has BOTH. It's always overly serious boring drama action#fantasy/history stuff OR it's comedic lighthearted but with modern day characters... WHY.. anguish and woe and so on..#ANYWAY jhjnk... at least I can make that divide. Some people seem to project their own personal preferences and get really emotionally#defensive if you say you didn't like something - as if the fact that they DO like it is some Objective Truth or something rather than just#opinion/preference based. I can still easily say ''this is well made/well written/acted/good in a technical sense/has a lot of#points of appeal that most people would be drawn to/etc'' and admit that it's a GOOD show probably. I just PERSONALLY think its#bad because my tastes are very narrow. Some things ARE actually made badly but. things are not bad INHERENTLY just bc they dont suit ME lol#Better to recognize/accept whats odd about you and be peacefully aware of it than just being mad at everyone all the time for not fully#agreeing with you even when you're the one with the Weird opinion in that case lol.. I am right though :3 but.. lol... still. i get it

Hello and good morning/day/night :]
I was wondering, in BNF, we’ve gotten tiny little bits of information about the ‘Nice and Accurate Prophecies’ (not sure if that’s the correct title, sorry) book and TV series, if there was anything else you could tell us about it?
Character names, storylines, plots, any fun details you may have made up or otherwise, etc, etc.
I just think it’s sweet how interested both Aziraphale and Crowley are in the series, and if you might be as interested, if not more, in it too.
Thank you, and have a lovely Sunday. 🫶
this is it, my leash has snapped, i'm wild in the streets, thank u for asking; i'm gonna go be insufferable now
(hi @neil-gaiman if you see this, i think it's safe to read, but it does border on being fan fic. i'm writing a fic where crowley and aziraphale are an artist + writer in an online fandom, much like we are for good omens, and this is the fake story i've made for them to be fans of 💛)
The Nice and Accurate Prophecy
info dump of the fake 5 book series by Agnes Nutter (1985-1992) and its fake fandom:
The Nice and Accurate Prophecy
The Strange and Improbable Prophecy
The Vague and Perfidious Prophecy
The Tense and Harrowing Prophecy
The Faint and Ineffable Prophecy
a dramatic, layered story with a bizarre and unexpectedly lovable cast of characters, humour that hits you out of nowhere, and a lot of attitude from the narrator. a la Good Omens, A Series of Unfortunate Events, Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy
fantasy/historical fantasy and mildly action & romance
a la good omens, a witch and a witchfinder become friends and help each other throughout history, despite being on opposite sides. they get closer as they fight against the immoral plays from their prospective sides (the witchfinder army and a demonic cult the witch was born into) that each lose sight of their core values in a bid to hold more power over the world.
the story is set primarily in a medieval fantasy era, but suddenly jumps to the present in the later books, catching everyone off guard and giving a whole new context to enjoy the story. the challenges they face parallel the earlier story but in a modern take with modern technological twists. the modern era is the late 80s, since that's when it was written.
the witch reincarnates, similar to doctor who, due to a high class black magic ritual they performed in their arrogant youth (which they were NOT supposed to have access to). they've had long lifetimes where they die of old age, and others where they've barely managed to live a year. their reincarnations aren't entirely random; they will reincarnate according to their growth and preferences as a person (a la Magical Boy's magical outfit generations), which includes fluctuation in gender identity. their pronouns fluctuate depending on each "face" they wear, but have canonically been a "they" before. the good side of the fandom (crowley & aziraphale) default to they/them as an overall rule. they do have a name, but they like to change that too, so the fandom almost exclusively calls them witch, or witchy.
the witchfinder also has a name, but the fandom have taken to calling him witchfinder to match the fact that witchy is called by their role. it also helps that a lot of the witchfinder narration refers to him by role instead of name. he is human, 30ish in appearance, but at the end of the first book, the witch fears to lose him and curses him with immortality against his knowledge to try and keep him safe.
witch is crowley-coded, witchfinder is aziraphale-coded. my to-do list includes an illustration of the two of them played by michael and david :') but i picture them being kind of like newt and anathema for the most part.
ship names include witch/finder, witchwitch, w² or witch², and witchfound.
at the start of the first book, they meet and become friends without knowing each other is a witch & finder. the witchfinder is a bit bumbly, like newt, and the witch is cool and suave but neurotic and insecure like many human au variations of crowley (major overcompensation vibes). witch is male at the start of the first book. their friendship is secure when witch finds out he's a witchfinder, so there's less "oh my god i'm friends with the enemy, is he going to kill me in my sleep?" and more "ah fuck, Lets Drink About This"
there's battles, horseback riding, camping out in dark woods, disappearing and losing each other for months at a time, and many missed connections as they try to work together against two common enemies, whilst keeping up the facade that they're on their respective team's sides.
there's charged chemistry in the first book, but it's more plot heavy. there's hints of shippy moments in the 2nd book that fall in between the plot. there's a Moment of almost confession in the 3rd book, and a non romantic kiss towards the end (we gotta, for neil). they're pretty much married in the 4th book, securely at each other's side, but never actually talk about it until the end, and there's a more explicitly stated shippy connection in the 5th book.
agnes herself is a total recluse who drops books out of nowhere then goes back to existing somewhere in the english countryside (people presume). she's happy to supply signed copies to fundraisers and conventions, and sometimes random bookshops across the country will be vandalised with genuine autographs on the inside covers. she's notoriously pedantic about being involved with adaptions behind the scenes, but she has no social media and isn't ~around~. she once did a talk when she was presented with an honorary doctorate, and did a single book signing when the first Prophecy book came out, but beyond that she keeps to herself.
there are a small handful of quotes from her in behind-the-scenes footage talking vaguely about character intensions and clarifying world building, but she likes to leave things up to interpretation like neil does. it's in these few snippets of interaction we've seen from her that she's steadfastly supportive of intersectionality and lgbt rights, like staring dead-eyed at an interviewer when they ask her a ridiculously heteronormative question about the characters (like "have you read my books?")
adaptions include:
(most adaptions start like the book, with a male witch at the beginning that turns into a female witch when they first regenerate. the early ones usually change the pacing by switching to a female actor by the time they realise witchfinder is a witchfinder, unlike in the book where he's male for this scene, and there's way less Charged™ chemistry between the m/m witch/finder.)
Feature Film: late 90s, kind of cheesy, but good spirited fantasy (a la Indiana Jones). focuses on the first book alone, with hints to a sequel that never happened.
Abandoned TV Pilot: early 2000s, a little too dramatic but still a good time (a la the Dungeons and Dragons 2000, ASOUE 2004). good source of gifs and Moments™ but the fandom is generally Fine with it being abandoned.
Stage Performance: late 2000s-early 2010s, a stellar stage adaption of the first book with elements of the 90s movie. f/m witch/finder the whole way through. one cast used m/m actors but it was a short run and only a handful of fans were lucky enough to catch or remember it. crowley would give his left arm (or someone's, anyway) to have experienced it, so a fan sent him some flip phone camera footage of it that he keeps on a harddrive in his safe.
HBO Streaming Series: late 2010s-present, high quality, highly revered, resurged the fandom's popularity and spread the series further overseas. made in america, but doesn't try to americanise the series. extremely respectful to the books, with easter eggs to the film, and is working its way through the entire book series (a la The Witcher netflix series). f/m witch/finder, but has had one episode that included some flash backs/montages of different witch faces. probably like 15 minutes total screentime of a male witch played by a ncuti gatwa level/style of actor, which the fandom has giffed, edited, and screencapped to oblivion.
Several bonus books: Agnes has written a few extra books (a la The Unauthorized Autobiography of Lemony Snicket and The Beatrice Letters), as well as curated some anthologies from other authors (a la A Study In Sherlock). there are a total of 3 anthologies so far, in which other authors have written stories about the characters in their own tellings. basically like canonised, published fan fiction, curated and authorised by agnes herself. There's also an unfinished graphic novel that retells the book series (a la The Adventure Zone comic), but has been WIP/unheard of since the 3rd book.

a core theme a surprising amount of people miss in kiki’s delivery service is the ambivalence between tradition and modernity. kiki is a folkloric character, a witch who is entrenched in not only the magic of a past mythical time but who is deeply embedded in customs and traditions. she leaves home at the pre-ordained time for her people, dressed in traditional garb, with the illusion that she will find a neat spot in a new town and bring charm and magic to the locals.
but she is entirely out-of-step with basically everything around her as soon as she arrives: she can’t navigate the traffic with her (handed-down) broom, almost causing a car accident; she envies her fashionable peers dressed in the latest fashions and feels self-conscious; everyone is perplexed, rather than enchanted, to see her. they seem vaguely to have heard of witches but quickly go back about their busy day walking down the busy modern streets. almost a total contrast to kiki’s rural, traditional town (the rural being paired with traditionalism and custom vs the urban city being the site of modernity and emerging technology etc, very classic choice). she gets a place to stay based entirely off the kindness of a stranger; no one feels they owe her anything simply due to her being a witch and this leaving the nest to offer her services elsewhere being what she’s meant to do.
no wonder kiki wonders where she will find her place in this new world that is not at all what she’d expected. people always point out how kiki’s delivery service offers us a portrait of depression, especially in the context of losing passion for something one loves, especially after it’s made one’s job. but this angle of tradition vs modernity feels important to miss, because it’s undoubtedly one of the fundamental factors behind kiki’s eventual dissatisfaction: what does she, with her magic and traditions, have to offer this new, emerging technological world?
no one has made a place for her here. she dresses differently, is unaccustomed to how those her age behave, and her most fundamental and magical gift -- flight -- is no longer an extraordinary practice reserved for those of myths and legend; hasn’t she seen the fantastic new airship! she is invited to take a ride on it at one point and declines.
if I remember correctly this is one of the last events that takes place before her fall into depression, a portion of the film characterised by kiki losing her ability to fly (and thus her magic). if even this doesn’t amount to much in this new reality, what does she have to offer? what makes her unique and worthy? the answer to this question is down to interpretation I suppose, though I’m guessing kiki realises she just has herself to offer. her customers like her, they return to ask her for favours and work because she is personable and good at what she does. she can’t offer them something fantastical and extraordinary anymore, but hopefully she herself is enough. and I think those feelings are also very potent for anyone who has struggled with feelings of lack of self-worth and purpose in their lives, just as much as getting tired of something you used to love. what about when the world gets tired of you? what do you do then, when life moves on without you?

HOGWARTS ARTWORKS BOLD UPDATE + NEW ARTS ...
Well, well, well ...I know ... I was not supposed to make some artworks but as I build and manage terrains for 2 months now, I think I needed to make something else, for changing, as a break ;)
So here comes our Artworks update, since some of those artworks are 8 years long ! And this post is going to be long too :D
Let's face it : our Sims, the ones who are ex-students of Hogwarts and other schools of witchcraft and wizardry such as Beauxbatons or Durmstrang, are a bit lost when arriving into a new Sims World and some of them are eager to bring in their new home as many wizard stuff and things as possible ... These Artworks are some of these things and stuff ;)
But let's begin with something new ... Some of the Arts included into the game HOGWARTS LEGACY and let's rock in Hogwarts ;)
HOGWARTS LEGACY ART – 11 ARTWORKS x2 – SETS 1 & 2
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Modern technology bringing back to life the history of Hogwarts ?! Well, if we can’t read History of Hogwarts, we’ll take whatever Hogwarts Legacy can give us …
Those 22 Artworks all somehow related to Hogwarts history. Some are explicit, where you can see the castle or its grounds, some are completely up to your imagination with skulls or fruits. Some are pieces of lost tapestries, part of a larger story ( and fully based on Gryffindor dormitory in Harry Potter movies which are themselves based on vintage French Tapestry Hanging Needlepoint of the Lady and the Unicorn ). They are all beautiful and will enhance any room.
This object is a new mesh, it doesn’t override anything, and works fine in-game :)

HOGWARTS PAINTING – 11 PAINTINGS – SERIE 1
UPDATE ! PLEASE GRAB YOUR UPDATE BEFORE JOINING YOUR DORMITORY !
We added 4 more paintings, we slightly modified the colorimetry and we refined the textures :)
Yes, we agree : enchanted paintings are superb and you don’t need to be an artist or art-lover to appreciate any of the paintings from the Hogwarts Staircases. In fact, the paintings don’t ask to be seen or admired. Wouldn’t be awkward for anybody to stand before a moving painting all day long ? :D
But art is art and the Artist behind the impressive gallery of headmasters deserves attention. Thus, we made a series of headmasters portraits. They have been painted by Rembrandt, Vemeer and Van Eyck ... They don’t move but they are just as beautiful. Incidentally a good topic of discussion at evening with friends :)
“ Is that brooding man your ancestor?
– Headmaster Snape?! By Merlin’s beard I hope not! ”
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Attention please : we do not guarantee that you won’t feel judged by any of these portraits. Hang at your own risks ...
This object is a new mesh, it doesn’t override anything, and works fine in-game :)

HOGWARTS VERTICAL ARTWORKS – 21 ARTWORKS – SET 1
UPDATE ! UPDATE ! GET YOUR UPDATE !
The Hogwarts Vertical Artworks have been updated with more artworks and diverse visuals. Wand permit from MacUSA or extract from a famous Howler, an artistic rendition of Dolores Umbridge torture ( can't believe that happened ), special editions of the Daily Prophet, Ministry of Magic recommandations and book covers and details. Now you have up to 21 artworks to choose from. Colorful ( or not ) and unique.
Many of those Artworks are based on the fantastic work of minalima ... the ones we admired in every Harry Potter movie ;)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Many Hogwarts students, after their studies, moved out to many different places, including some Sims Worlds ( yes, it’s true ! )
So, you can imagine how good it is to remember Hogwarts and its famous houses wherever you can live, as Wizard/Witch, and as Sim. And all the memories related to Platform 9 3/4, the Hogwarts Express, etc ... By the way, in which House the Sorting had sent you when you were 11 ? :D
This object is a new mesh, it doesn’t override anything, and works fine in-game :)
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
HOGWARTS MORE ARTWORKS – 33 ARTWORKS – SETS 1-2-3
UPDATE ! UPDATE ! UPDATE !
The Hogwarts More Artworks series have been updated and augmented with new stuff and 10 more artworks. Yup, you read that right. More Daily Prophet front pages, education decree, book covers and various artworks ... International Quidditch World Cup poster or exemple of famous Howler. There's something for all taste in these complete sets. Wondering what the small characters are ? Zoom in ! Mesmerized by the details of the famous Marauder's map ? Have a look in big ! Studies in propaganda ? Oh boy are you in for a treat …
Framed posters are a good alternative if you are a wizard ( or witch ) living incognito in the muggle world. Who would suspect the Daily Prophet to be a "special" newspaper with its weird headline of a defeated dark lord named You-Know-Who ? Muggles might even think The Quibbler cover to be a nice modern art. And they haven't seen the sad Ministry of Magic propaganda when Lord Voldemort ( he's dead, we can say his name now ) took over the government.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
As you can see, we added really a lot of Artworks ;)
This object is a new mesh, it doesn’t override anything, and works fine in-game :)

World Building
I'm a little late with the summary, but here it is. Thanks to everyone who attended and see you all again next month!
Tumblr media
Where does your story take place?
Real-world v created world: You can use the world that we live in as it is. You can use the world that we live in with some tweaks. You can use alternate timelines/universes or create an entirely fictional world.
Alternate timelines Ex: modern day real world but WW I never happened.
High v low fantasy:
High fantasy refers to epic fantasy which is set in an alternate world. It typically includes lots of magical elements, fantastical creatures, and unusual technology. Whereas low fantasy is when magical creatures and elements intrude upon the regular world.
Things to consider/include:
Magic system
Geography
Political systems
Religion
Culture
Is there a class system? What does that look like?
Being grounded in the real world doesn’t save you from having to world-build.
What continent, country, city? Urban or rural? Mountains? Beach? A country can be set in the real world but it’s a fictional country. A city can be fictional. It can be based on NYC for example but still be fictional. Change the name and whatever else you need to.
You can blend real and imagined. Ex: Used the name of a real restaurant but placed it in a different town, etc.
Example: I used real roads but fake places. Anyone local will recognize the intersection but I put a fictional forest where a horse pasture actually sits.
You can create fictional shops, buildings, etc in NYC. NYC is real but the places aren’t.
Example: I had to create a building with a helipad in a story once b/c there are no helipads in that area, but I needed one for my story to work so I made it up. Could have used an actual one but my characters would have had to get past the FBI barricade, so it was easier to make up a building that was inside the perimeter.
Note:
If using magic, one must first establish how it normally works before showing it malfunctioning. Same if the character is supposed to be super strong or smart or something, establish that first so the reader understands what is normal in this world before the thing goes wrong.
Establishing Scenes: tell us all of the above. But do it in a way that shows not tells.
Also, make sure it matters. You need rich world-building but the reader doesn’t care what your character's first car was unless that information tells us something important about the character that we need to know, like he worked three summers in a row to earn the money because his parents were poor. Or because they were rich but stingy. Or because they were rich but wanted him to learn to earn things rather than have things handed to him. (if this is important to set a tone for his character or personality, ie, learned the value of hard work or this is why he resents his parents or this is why he is so driven to succeed in his career so he never goes hungry again!
Fabulous establishing world-building scene courtesy of @karahalloway:
The horse responds with a sour-faced snort, stepping quickly past the moss-covered waypost — a brazen reminder of this land's heathen roots. Because despite the House of Rys' conversion to Christianity almost a millennia ago, in the far-flung reaches of the kingdom — where the roads ran out, and the name of the King is just that... a name — the tenet of the old ways is more than just a memory. It is a living, breathing ethos. Suffused into the very heart of this harsh, rugged, yet beautiful land. Where portents, spells, and otherworldly creatures exist in the same breath as Christ, the Eucharist, and Judgement Day, and the very air crackles with mysticism and superstition. Which is partly what drew me here — to the edge of the proverbial map, where the laws of Cordonia fray into irrelevance in the face of the jagged peaks of the snow-capped mountains, and your fortune is what you craft it to be.
This sets the stage with so many rich details: geography, history, socio-political, religious background, his place in this world, etc.
Please, if I've missed anything, feel free to mention it in the comments and I'll add it!

So the nonhuman theme of the day that I've been seeing on the Internet seems to be self doubt both due to internal and external influences.
My response to this theme is this. You are who you are. And no one can tell you who you are but you. (The rest of the post is pretty much just this^^ in way more detail than necessary. You have been warned lol. Buckle up this is gonna be a long one. Literally took all day to write 😅)
Most of us live in a society where we've been told since infancy who we are are and what we must be, and if we don't fit in the predesignated boxes then there must be something wrong with us and we just need to be forced into a box. But just think about the vastness of life for a second. From macro to micro there's just so much to everything it's breathtaking. Everything is layered. Why should one being's existence be any different. There is what is seen and then there is everything else. Some thing's don't need to be understood by others, because they are not there for others. They are simply there. Wether we understand them or not. And that in itself (I think) is quite lovely.
I am Fae. Not just because of ______. I am Fae because it is simply what I am. It's what feels right.
It's ok to just exist. It's ok to live without ever fitting into boxes or labels. And if you find a label or box that fits you, that's ok too. It's your existence. Do what makes you happy. I've also found that sometimes, finding that feeling that you fit somewhere, comes first and the reasons why come after. Be patient. I know it's maddening sometimes when you've got a million questions bumping about in your head, or even just one or two burning ones, but life is a journey. A mystery to uncover through experiences.
I could give you a whole laundry list of reasons why I can call myself Fae. But at the end of the day, the only reason I need is that it feels right. I don't need to act like the stereotypical Fae (from folklore, media etc), I don't need to have magical experiences, I don't need memories. Keep in mind that your nonhuman identity does not need to match anyone else's.
If you're a Fae who loves technology and finds the modern age fascinating. Guess what? There's nothing wrong with that. (I LOVE Minecraft 😁 Though that may or may not have to do with the fact that I get to fly around and build whatever I want from nothing. Yes I'm obsessed with creative mode 😅 I usually get bored in survival)
If you're a Therian who's never enjoyed being on all fours or who doesn't like gear. It doesn't make you any less Therian. Do what makes you happy 😊.
If you're some ancient entity and you use an ungodly (hehe) amount of emojis and/or abbreviations (ex. Lol, omg, etc) it doesn't make you any less ancient or awesome. Do what you enjoy. You are too old to not be having as much fun as you can experience. I'm also an ancient creature, you really think I want to spend my time not doing what makes the happy chemicals 😊✨👁️🪽😁.
If you're an Alien who's not obsessed with space stuff. That's ok. Human portrayals probably don't do it justice anyway, and there's so many other things to be interested in. Like have you seen mushrooms? Those funky little guys come in so many varieties it's absolutely delightful 😊🍄✨.
If you're a vampire who can't stand the sight of blood. Don't worry about it. I can almost guarantee you're not alone (plus there's a lot of different types of vampires. If you know you are/were definitely sanguine then you're still valid 😊).
If you're fictionkin and you're absolutely nothing like your fictionkin type/character. That's ok 😊. People often change with their experiences, it doesn't make you any less yourself.
That last one applies to most nonhumans identities in general honestly 😅.
If you're an angel that doesn't/didn't have big feathery wings. You are still an angel. The universe is filled with too much color and variety for me to believe that all ______ have the same or very similar designs. I've never heard of an angel with dragonfly or beetle wings. That doesn't mean they don't exist 🙃.
You can be a plant who loves salads, a placekin who hates going outside, an objectkin that doesn't use it/it's pronouns or is super expressive, a vampire who adores sunbathing or just sunlight in general, a carnivore that doesn't like meat, an avian that's afraid of flying or heights, a demon with a heart of gold, a deity with social anxiety and/or low self esteem, an herbivore that loves going hunting, a dragon who prefers minimalism, an aquatic creature who doesn't like water, a void that's constantly overthinking, you can match all the known stereotypes for your nonhuman identity or none at all. You can have phantom shifts constantly or never get any, you can have countless identities, you can have just one, you can remember your past life/lives in detail or remember nothing at all, you can believe in past lives and souls, or not, your identity can be psychological, physical, spiritual, etc.
It's s your identity. No one else's. Just because you choose to share yourself or your identity with someone else does not mean they own you or your identity. It is, was and always shall be, yours. (Btw please please please, be careful who you share your nonhuman identity with. Not everyone is going to "get it". And not everyone is going to accept it. Stay safe, mentally, physically, emotionally etc.)
They say names have power. They also say not all things are what they seem. Whatever your nonhuman identity looks like, only you can know what it truly is. Understand that I am not saying that the appearance of one's nonhuman identity should be dismissed altogether, especially when one is still questioning. I am saying, that we shouldn't rely solely upon appearances. If your nonhuman identity fits in the category of x as far as appearances go but x just doesn't feel like it fits, then chances are, you're not x, or there's more to it than just x. I've known I was Fae since right around 2019. However I doubted myself for a long time because as far as I knew Fae were "supposed to have insect wings" and on top of having big feathery wings, I have a lot of them. In fact many of my nonhuman features could be considered angelic. However I've never felt particularly comfortable identifying as an angel. It just never felt like the right fit. It took awhile but eventually after I'd already accepted that my "angelic features" didn't make me any less Fae. I remembered why I had those features to begin with, and it all just clicked into place.
It's ok to not have all the answers or even the correct answers right away. Life is experiences. From moment to moment you are who you are. Things may change, new truths may be revealed, that doesn't make you or your identity any less real. You are whoever you are right now. Wether that is someone/something from everything you have ever been or ever shall be or just one thing right now, unconnected to anything else. You are not fake for changing. You're not fake for not changing. Most have doubts about themselves about all sorts of things. To the point where it seems like doubt is just part of the human world experience (not saying it's only a human world experience, just that everyone here seems to doubt themselves about something or other) and perhaps working through our doubts is a lesson of this place, then again maybe not 🤷. In the end what you believe is up to you😊.
Now, I'm not expecting that this single post from a total stranger will erase all your doubts. Not at all. I didn't write it to erase doubt, but rather to give it a little bit of something to fight against. To plant just one more seed in the hearts and minds of others who might need it or whom it might help in any way. This post is far from the only one out there, fighting doubt in its many forms and faces. And what I've said has already been said in many times and ways. But it's my take and not everything will click with everyone. If this post helps even just one being, then it has served it's purpose. Each and every single one or plural of us is unique in our own ways. And I truly believe that's one of the most wonderful things about life as a whole.
If you've read this far, I apologize if I got a bit carried away and made this post longer than necessary but it means a great deal to me and things that matter to me are very difficult to "sum up" 😅. And if you follow me. I warn you now that most of my posts will probably be a bit lengthy if not extremely so.
And now my dear creatures, crawlers, beasts, beauties, hellions, heavenlies (no I don't care that that's not a word it is now lol), magicals, marvels, wonders, wanderers, wildlings, winged things, whimsies, and whatsits (and everything beyond and in between) I wish upon you a most wonderful day/night. May you always know/remember that your existence makes the world a more magical place. 🌍✨ (And in my opinion we could use all the magic we can get 😊)
👁️🪽✨🍄🍀🪻🌱🥀❄️🌟✨
Till next time.

Besides all the human world talk and differences what are some deamon world things you think the witches use that we've not seen already? We see they have phones and lockers but what else
Oh gosh oh dear okay uuuhhhh... SO WORLD BUILDING THEN? ALRIGHT. AH YES, WORLDBUILD LOGIC, MY THIRD LOVE IN STORY TELLING. OKAY.
The slight (or not so slight actually) problem with ToH is unfortunately the lack of making sense of the demon realm in favour of it just looking interesting, different and whacky. It does leave room for a lot of interpretation, but as soon as you try make sense of it, it begins to show it's holes. So I think ToH is better left untouched from SENSE.
Tumblr media
However that never stopped me before!
I think they use fire and acids for energy. It's a natural source and it's easy for magic-using inhabitants to conjure fire. Possibly mecha that keeps fire looping in the house to funnel the light. And when the lights "pop" in the house you just gotta put fire into the machine again. Or something.
Because it looks like they have some kind of energy to light lamps and stuff, but not electricity. And by the looks of Eda's kitchen, it's still stuck in an era of using heat from fire. Stone ovens and iron, etc. I place their technology on the level of human Gregorian era?
I don't think they have internet. I think they use libraries for that. Their penstagram I think is, literally, just for distant-sharing and communication like apps. Basically photo albums/blogs you can connect with.
They use the glass orbs as TVs so they're not using penstagram as video-watching. (I think? I might misremember here). Though, King did send a live video on it once, so I guess that's possible? But live videos seem to be very widely broadcasted even on the platform. So idk how that system is set up. Maybe you pay a fee to be able to live something. Idk how the interface is like. I doubt King/Eda/Luz has a ton of followers, so there must be a way to broadcast
So I conclude it's just.... photo/blog albums. They don't use penstagrams for calling each other, text messaging sure but not calling.
Which I guess makes the bird-phone kinda redundant actually. THOUGH, I guess it would be like how the 80's 90's phone and internet worked? Kinda? You have one big chunky phone at home you call from. Or a brick you bring with you (Like Hunter did lol).
So phones I think are at the level of the 80's-human realm.
Their mode of transportation, in the show, became the palisman staffs. But not all witches have that, it actually seem to be a level of privilege to have one in the modern day demon-realm.
There was a... Bus... slug? thing? that curled people up and rolled away? I--- I mean okay. I guess that's the public transportation.
But that's a living thing. yeah? Which means there must be a stable of sort where these beasts go to rest and are cared for. So that must be a job/coven that exists. Probably a sub-section of the beast coven.
They have a lot of steampunk looking mecha, especially the abomination coven, so it is a given they must have some sort of piping system on the isles. Possibly for sewage?
Where does it go? The boiling sea, probably, or an acid pool where it all dissolves.
Possibly the butt of the Titan...? Imagine living there. o-o;;
ANYWAY, that's all for now asdfghjkl Or I will go on forever.

Ever After High Headcanons
Hi, these are a few of my headcanons for the series Ever After High. After rereading the books and rewatching the web show I have a lot of headcanons to go around and I'll probably post some more later. Enjoy! (Warning! Some of these will be long and have dark subjects in them)
Raven's first year (freedom year) of Ever After High was very lonely. She wasn't assigned a roommate, she ate lunch alone, and the school year started after the Evil Queen was captured and executed (or so everyone heard) so Raven was isolated from her classmates. One day our favorite Hatter noticed how sad and lonely Raven was and tried to befriend her. At first Raven thought Maddie was trying to prank her or lure her into a false sense of security because; why the heck would a Wonderlander want to be friends with the daughter of the villain who destroyed her home? One day, Raven explodes on Maddie and demands why she's trying to be her friend after what her mother did to Wonderland. Maddie tells Raven that she noticed how sad and lonely she knew that what the Evil Queen did to her was horrible, but Raven is not her mother. That is the first time someone hasn't compared her to her mom and Raven breaks down and ask Maddie for forgiveness. Being the sugar cube that she is Maddie forgives her and they become best friends. Maddie then introduces Raven to her roommate Cedar and eventually befriend Cerise.
All their lives the Charming kids thought Daring would be the prince Snow White, Dexter would be the beast in Beauty in the Beast, and Darling would be a generic damsel-in-distress. But it's Darling the princess charming, Daring the beast, and Dexter the damsel-in-distress. When Dexter finds out the destiny he was suppose to have he's disheartened because of years of being overshadowed by his siblings he gets the worst destiny.
Faybelle dyes her hair blonde. In the book 'Unfairest of Them All' she had midnight blue hair, but in the web series she's a blonde with a streak of blue in her hair. When she was little her mother told her that 'light has no moral compass, and to never live in the shadows', so Faybelle dyed her hair, and the blue streak is all that remains of the midnight blue hair.
In their youth Gennedy (The Good King), Dashing (King Charming), and Pine Oak (Pinocchio) were the best of friends. Once, it was revealed Gennedy would be the future husband of the Evil Queen, Dashing broke off their friendship because he didn't want to be associated with someone with an evil destiny. Pine Oak remained by Gennedy's side and was one of his few remaining friends to adulthood.
After, almost drowning as a child Apple became a shower person. Snow White removed the tub from Apple's bedroom after the incident. Baths, pools, and beaches freak her out.
Out of all the king/queendoms the Beauty Queendom is behind on technology, fashion, and etc, due when the Sleeping Beauty goes to sleep for a hundred years everyone else does. When the Evil Queen cursed Sleeping Beauty instead of the Dark Fairy, Headmaster Grimm put them in a bubble and did that 'years inside minutes outside trope' to not over curse Sleeping Beauty and ruin the story. That was the first time the Beauty Queendom was in sync with the modern world.
Magical beings, those with destines similar to Briar, or powers have a longer life span then no-magics. For example - if Briar does do the hundred years sleep her, Raven, Cupid, Faybelle, Ginger, Farrah, and maybe Rosabella, will be around while the others will be dead or old.
I don't care what 'Class of Classics' said I don't thing teen King Charming wore glasses since in ' A Semi-Charming Kind of Life' Dexter's the only Charming with glasses. I can see teen King Charming being clumsy and trying to covering it up.
In the Twelve Dancing Princesses story whichever princess the soldier picks is the one who has twelve daughters. Not saying that the others can't have kids they do - it's just they usually have 1-3.
When Hunter's father found out that the Hoods thought that he was Cerise's father he was furious (Mrs. Huntsman even more) and for years told them Cerise wasn't his daughter. After, 'Unfairest of them all' they told Mr. Huntsman he was right and how they wished he was Cerise's father. Mr. Huntsman gets suspicious and worries for Red and ask if Cerise father did anything to harm her or Cerise. Red tells him that her family just didn't approve of him. Knowing the Hoods are secretive people and he trust Red he drops it. When Cerise's secret is revealed, Mr. Huntsman vows to protect Cerise and her parents (after he accepts Hunter is a vegan and hanging out more with Mr.Badwolf).
We all know the Mad Hatter was the marriage officiant for Red and Mr. Badwolf, but who were the witnesses? In certain states they require that at least two people must be witnesses. My guesses are the Cheshire Cat and Maddie's mother. I can see them having the Cheshire Cat since she's a trickster and no one would believe her if she said that Red Riding Hood Married the Big Bad Wolf; too bad they didn't think of her telling Kitty.
Since Maddie got her mint green hair from her father, she gets her violet hair from her mother.
If I could rewrite Ginger in the BreadHouse I would have Raven, Cupid, and Cerise help Ginger prove she just wanted to bake sweets for everyone. I found it weird that Cupid believed Gus and Helga's lies (GIRL! You went to Monster High and the cooking teacher was a witch) and Cerise is Ginger's childhood friend. Cupid would advertise Ginger's sweets on her show, Cerise would help baking sweets, and Raven could get her fellow Rebels to try Ginger's snacks. Word reaches Jack Horner and he approves of the Giger's culinary skills. Ginger still lets Gus and Helga enjoy her treats and they become her best customers.

May I request some headcanons for Nabatea and Agartha, before the mole people went apeshit and tried to kill god?
Tumblr media
I'm really sorry,
I really tried my best, but unfortunately I never really thought a lot about Nabateans and Agarthans before the Nuke Wars !
But here goes -
From what we can see in the opening CG (Sothis's FB?) there used to be buildings and skyscrappers like our modern ones. Sothis apparently brought "elevators" with her from her spaceship - wherever she came from - since they are mentionned in the Holy Tomb.
So I guess before the Nuke Wars they'd be pretty advanced, more than what I usually write about/play in terms of background cities - save for maybe Xillia's Elympios, where you are warped from a traditional medieval (albeit with a lot of central asia imagery!) magitech world to a world where people live in buildings and complain about their government and taxes lol
Granted if Sothis brought Nukes, elevators and IA (to make robots!) I suppose Agartha should have make a fucking giganormous jump in time/the technology tree, so maybe they adapted to it quite fast, spent 5k years getting used to it - to the point where they now complain about their taxes - or didn't get used to it, and the second they managed to get their hands on high-end weapons/nukes, they started vaporizing other countries.
Granted, given what Solon says to the Summoner in FEH, I'd rather believe the original Agarthan World - with their shiny Sothis tech - was closer to Elympios, thus to our own, than some sort of steam punk/ultimate technological one.
(in B4 Thales was a random salaryman who filed papers every day, until he decided to join a terrorist group to rule over the world, because his firm wouldn't give him free healthcare)
Now, as for Nabateans...
I'd say the first "city" they lived in - near Sothis's landing site - was still the Oghma Mountains, but it wasn't the Zanado Village we see (in ruins) in the game.
What their first settlement looked like then? In the FB, we see Sothis overlooking a lot of people from a city below, and there's a huge tower behind her - but it's still a desert.
I wouldn't say all those people looking to her were Nabateans, some humans would also be there - maybe the city was fitted with elevators and travel commodities and stuff to accomodate humans? (remember, Rhea can jump 50 meters in one jump, even after her 5 stars resort vacation in Enbarr, so I'm pretty sure Nabateans don't need elevators!).
So as much as I want to copy-paste the fantasy lands of Shangri-La and Shangdu (per Marco P), given the tower and the setting, I was thinking of something more in lines with the “mythic Babylon”, the tower of Babel in the background and the Hanging Gardens etc etc. Pre Nuke Wars, the Nabatean Settlement would be a hub, not of trade, but a site of pilgrimage and where people, humans and nabateans, could freely move in and out, etc etc.
Sothis would gift her wisdom and tech kind of freely, and everything was well (or so she thought)
Of course it would create "difficulties" with the humans who were busy filling their taxes and wondering about healthcare, because in Nabatean land, people are free to come and go, they can get food for free, water etc etc, without paying taxes or being part of a community/society like Agartha is (tfw Nabateans, with their magic, don't need agrary planification, roadworks, reforms and what not, they plant whatever they want, use magic to make it grow and share the fruits with everyone who wants some. Thales's dental care? A Light Dragon could heal his cavities without needing him to pay any insurance or something).
Nabateans can live more "easily" than humans because they are different and have their magic to help in their daily lives, happens what happens, Nabateans are seen as "superior" to humans and asked to rule, or at least are looked up to.
Agarthans with their complex socio-political (?) organisation see more and more of their people refusing to pay taxes and participate in the life of their city/state to migrate to a land ruled by lizard hippies who can afford to be so generous because their magic is, well, magic. Nabateans are thus, inherently superior to humans, and that's not something that makes people happy - especially humans.
Their first reaction would be to flatten the rest of the world, to display their might and show everyone that no, they're still in the game and are more important - or maybe they can also live as "freely" as Nabateans do, if they have randoms from other cities to work for them (let them be the ones to pay the taxes).
The conflict grows, some people run to the Lizard Hippies for protection, which prompts Agartha to try to nuke them - they want to be the ones on top in Fodlan, and not be subservient to some other party - and here goes.
As for their cultures...
Agartha would be MAGA - and hell bent on making Agartha great again, even if it means they have to flatten other humans to do so, but some people just wanted to live normal lives and when the Agarthan lifestyle was too much for them, they safely ran away to Zanado 1.
After the realisation that Nabateans can do things they do because they have magic and all, some Agarthans would really be obsessed with developping new technologies to finally be "superior" to them (funded by, as you can guess now, lot of taxes).
Why couldn't they just accept Nabateans were different and leave it at that?
Because Agartha would have been a very prideful nation, maybe it was the leading one on the continent before Sothis landed, and even if they were the first with whom she exchanged tech - they were at the “top”. Growing jealous at Nabateans who are inherently “stronger” than them causes them to try to gather more and more allies - nuking some in the way - until the Nuke Wars.
For Nabateans in Zanado-1, life was pretty chill, some humans came and asked for their help, they provided and I suppose before humans started to do human things, there used to be several humans living in Zanado-1 (which prompted them to build elevators and all).
There were a lot of humans and half-humans there, still, was Zanado-1 an utopia? Well... I don’t think so. Just like Nabateans aren’t evil because they have pointy ears, I don’t see them “good” because they have pointy ears, they are people, and people can be good or bad regardless of their race.
So, of course, some Nabateans would get cocky and grow arrogant (tfw modesty isn’t Sothis’s forte) and some might see humans as inferior, or things who need their help - obviously, because humans always need help and guidance. Maybe those ones would leave Zanado-1 and try to spread “civilisation” or “help” some other country, and they’d be the ones “revered as gods” the interview mentionned.
Of course some of them were happy living with humans, and I HC there used to be a lot - well not a crapton but more than 10 - hybrids in Zanado-1, showing that at least, some Nabateans thought humans were fine enough to be “life partners” or to get babies with.
Until the end Sothis wanted to believe in coexistence, and how Nabateans and Humans (and herself!) could live in Fodlan, she even named her last born in the way the most hostile humans - Agarthans - name themselves and tried to raise her as human does, being called “Mother” instead of “Progenitor God” and all.
But things don’t happen like expected, she didn’t foresee how humans from Agartha would resent her because of the imbalance of power between her kind and, well, their own kind and in turn grow fearful, or how her attempts to “help” would be seen as scorn instead, from a being who flaunts her power over powerless people.
Morale of the story?
Uh... a lot of power imbalance creates resentment and fear? Maybe the Nabateans should have tried to adapt their lifestyle to the one humans had, or not provide a free utopia to everyone who asked, idk.
The playable (lel) Nabateans wouldn’t have lived long in Zanado-1, Cichol would maybe have been a tad bit younger than current Flayn, and Rhea would have been somewhere like as old as a kid who entered elementary school a few months ago and still needs a plushie to sleep when the first Nukes were launched.
As a result, Rhea wouldn’t remember well Zanado-1 - but she remembers hiding in what would become the Holy Tomb to hide from the “flashing lights” outside, but Cichol would remember it better as pre-teen (maybe that’s where he got his tendency to give lectures, he saw older brothers giving lectures and providing advices and counselling to humans who asked?), Indech would have been part of the forces Sothis had with her to fight against the Agarthans while Macuil would be at that age where he is in his dinosaurs phase, save that dinosaurs was “magic”, and he never grew out of it.
Macuil would remember Zanado-1, only because it was the place where he was supposed to do a lot of “magic” and learnt how to do it and how it was his kind’s gift from the Progenitor God (cf magic meta) but then humans turned it against them, and they suck.
(Then Zanado-2 happens and he’s pretty sure they’re ultra sucky).

1, 5, 10, 17, 19 for the weird writer asks meme?
1. What font do you write in? Do you actually care or is that just the default setting?
A lot of the time I write in a font that makes it Look Like A Book. So Times New Roman or something similar/adjacent, especially at the beginning it helps to get me engaged and take the work seriously.
5. Do you have any writing superstitions? What are they and why are they 100% true?
Ok contrarily to above: the comic sans hack DOES work! This is something I often do when I've been working on a piece for a while and need to ~spice things up~ to get my inspiration back. Switch the font to comic sans. It works.
10. Has a piece of writing ever “haunted” you? Has your own writing haunted you? What does that mean to you?
Yes and yes. When it comes to other pieces of writing, I think it's what's left unsaid that haunts me the most. 'Haunting' to me is all about absence, about what we don't see and hear and feel but is there all the same. In terms of writing, it's about themes that are never stared but are lurking beneath what's actually said, it's about characters who live (or die) in a way where what they might have become is a mystery, it's about people never saying exactly what they mean.
In regards to my own writing, usually it means just. Hm. Things (characters, settings, plots) that like...don't really feel like they come from me? Where did this idea originate? I have no idea who's brain was that born in???? Not mine.
17. Talk to me about the minutiae of your current WIP. Tell me about the lore, the history, the detail, the things that won’t make it in the text.
So I can't talk too much about this or I will talk all day BUT there's a very specific element I've been going Unhinged over and do really really want to talk about so here it goes. I really want to try the idea of subtly comparing the magic within my world to real-world energy sources. Specifically, electricity and nuclear energy. Hear me out. While harnessing the power of the wind, sun, tides etc. are also of course valid forms of energy in our own world (and historically in some cases) they aren't exactly mystical. We know what the sun and wind and water are, and the ancients would too to a degree. But something like electricity, which occurs naturally in lightning, and radioactivity, which exists in certain earth minerals, while more recent forms of energy harnessing, are still forces that have existed in the world for as long as we know. But they aren't things you can experience as tangibly (nor would you want to) or on a daily basis, so to a society inspired on Medieval times with roughly the same knowledge of science and technology, the concept of lightning and of radioactivity (or the effects of exposure to it, since they wouldn't understand what it was) seem...more Eldritch Horror to me? These are forces that exist, but we Don't Understand - and yet people in the far future will use them as a means of energy. HOkay so where this comes in is like. Hmm. I have a few instances in the book where characters who aren't used to handling magic or being around it, are affected by it in ways that resemble exposure to these forces. Hair standing on end + what is basically the feeling of an electric shock when touching magical objects, or touching something that feels cool but seems to heat your hand as you hold it, long term effects that resemble mild to severe radiation sickness - all this to say my version of magic isn't one or both of these forces, but I'm doing this knowing/hoping a reader will see the resemblance and understand it as an existing force within the world that is a) essentially an untapped and potentially very very powerful energy source that can (and may in the future) be used as one by people who know what they're doing and b) if handled by people who *don't* know what they're doing can cause A Lot Of Dying and c) know that while they as a modern reader understand these things, the characters do not. I've even thought of mages having some kind of containers they use to magically hold the remnants of the magic they've tapped into that is no longer usable bc if they don't it just kinda. lingers in the air and Kills Things Slowly -- basically like a medieval fantasy version of nuclear waste disposal.
tl;dr: Magic = a super powerful energy source that people are scared of harnessing because in their minds it's an eldritch horror thing the equivalent of nuclear energy and/or electricity (symptoms to magic exposure in this world resemble symptoms of exposure to either/both so the reader will make the connection) and if handled wrong can be Bad
19. Tell me a story about your writing journey. When did you start? Why did you start? Were there bumps along the way? Where are you now and where are you going?
SO I've been writing or trying to write since I was a little kid, and didn't actually finish a draft until my current book. I started it in the middle of a high school math class (lol) and was inspired initially by a facet of Greek mythology we'd been learning about in a different class. For some reason this idea stuck and I just...kept going with it. Rn I've written two-three drafts and I'm finishing up the one I'm currently on, after that I'll go back and edit (no more rewrites!) and then...keep editing until it's time for beta readers I guess.
Thanks for the questions sorry for the Long Long responses I ramble

hi hi hi!!!! how do you think your guys would react if they completely swapped universes with each other?? what are aderyn and keldan doing in the tsh universe how are delwyn junhee chan and co reacting to the sky sea universe etc etc
ben. you're a fuckin GENIUS for this question hold on
the funnest part is that both casts would totally be like what the fuck. what is going on here.
assuming they're just dropped in as they are. picked up from universe and stuck in the other. the biggest thing for aderyn and keldan is gonna be the technology!!! modern tech in general is gonna be super weird because their universe is just sooooo different. they're gonna see a plane in the sky and be like okay weird that it's a tube but ok. then they'll see the ocean and aderyn will go what the FUCK is that.
(aderyn and seia are both gonna adjust much faster i think. depending how long they're there. keldan and melati are both annoying and snobby thanks to the ~royal influence~ like they literally don't know how to interact with ppl normally. this works to their detriment in tsh universe, which is basically just modern-day new york with magic. that being said keldan would LOVE to have a cell phone. he'd send aderyn the most annoying memes at all hours of the day.)
because of the lack of magic* in the sky sea universe, i think the biggest thing is that the tsh characters are gonna feel like. Empty. they no longer have that well of power to tap into. super fuckin weird. i think delwyn would be relieved about it actually but chan and junhee would not react well at all. sasha's crew is relatively more normal so they would probably notice the no magic thing but care less. they'd be way more focused on the changes in society. hana especially would be fascinated by the tech (which in my head is very steampunk-inspired for some reason)
the universe swap comes with the added bonus of both casts being abruptly removed from . you know. their entire plot. like the ppl antagonizing keldan and co. will assume they crashed and died or something and give up. without delwyn and chan fucking shit up the tsh universe is no longer under immediate threat of apocalypse. if the swap is like permanent then both casts just get to like . chill. settle down and live relatively normal lives i guess. which would probably be the weirdest part of the whole thing for them. they're like yeah im in another universe i guess but holy shit there's nothing trying to kill me??? wild.

Glitch
Hey everyone, this is SonicAsura here. For the past few days, I sorta been ironing the kinks of an idea I got. One that I thought of sharing with you guys.
Looking over the various media where demons/yaoguai exist even rarely coexist with humans made wonder. Do they go through changes to over time? As their world reaches a modern era, ambient magic fluctuations to rise in new technology... Could it affect them in some way?
Born from this idea of mine is new subspecies I dub 'Glitch'. A Glitch is a type of demon/yaoguai that have begun over the constant changes as time progress. They manifest at random whether upon birth or in still developing fetuses. Children of a Glitch are more likely to be born as one. Any species has a chance of being born in a one of two types from this subtype.
The first are Mimics. This is a subspecies that are born with appearances based on mythological creatures, cryptids to even characters from any sort of media such as videogames/books/TV shows etc. Each Mimic has their character who they derive their appearance and even powers from called Inspiration.
One such example is my new OC Tikki Cho, a Mimic whose Inspiration is Angoramon from the Digimon series specifically its newest show Ghost Games. She is the type who possess both similar appearance and powers from her Inspiration.
The second subspecies are Deniers. A type that focuses more on the concept of surviving and are rarer than Mimics. Deniers are given this name cause they usually prevent a fated death via adaptation.
Let's say we have a yaoguai/demon who is supposed to die by electrocution. They are born or develop an adaptation that would immediately prevent such death like an organ which can absorb electricity to nonconductive traits such as rubber.
Deniers constantly adapt in three main conditions: environment, life or death and the rare occurrence being how they raised. If one lived in a forested area then their body could develop camouflage, shift into a more suited body like a snake or squirrel and such.
In a life or death situation such being trapped in an inferno, their body can become fire, create an aerosol that neutralizes the flame and such.
Being raised could cause a Denier to develop traits that can not only support them but also their parent. An organ that can generate both heat or cold from their body, the ability to grow plants or even healing etc.
I do have an example of a Denier but it's one hell of a curve ball.
If anyone wants to make their own OC based on this concept then you have my complete approval. I love to see the possibilities everyone can come up with. I'll be listing the series that I know this can be applied to in the tags.
Until next time folks, I'll see you later!

Saturday Morning Coffee
Good morning!
Tumblr media
I couldn’t wait to get started this morning. I got my pot started and sat down to put this post together. When the coffee finished I poured my first cup. I almost let that cup get too cool to drink. The shame! I’ve since remedied the situation and have resolved to not let it happen with my second cup! ☕️
Enjoy the linkage!

Espresso is basically magic. The more I learn about what goes on inside the black box that is the portafilter, the more certain I am of it.
Yes, pulling a really great shot feels like magic. When Haileigh — our oldest daughter — was a barista at a very snobby coffee shop she’d spend the morning adjusting the grinder. That would result in a half to one pound of coffee being ground just to get it properly set up. Was the espresso great? It certainly was. 🪄

I would love to see Bob Iger move jobs out of Florida. The state has gone full fascist under DeSantis and isn’t a safe place for LGBTQ+, black and brown folks, women, and children. Their educational system is teaching them to become white supremacists and intolerant and even their institutions of higher education are under attack.
If you can, get out.

Monday morning, American democracy became more brittle, at least in Florida, where Governor Ron DeSantis signed a bill that prohibits the state’s public colleges and universities from continuing their diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programs.
Ah, yes, more of Florida’s fascist Governor making Florida a worse place to live. It makes me wonder if he’s setting it up to secede from our Union, kind of like Texas? It’s like the South is trying it’s damndest to rise again. We can’t let that happen.

Five years later I’m still as happy with this decision as I was then. I post to my site, and it gets cross-posted to social media. Today that means Mastodon. Eventually it may mean something else. But no matter what, steveroy.ca will always be the source of truth.
Making your weblog the hub of your social media presence is smart and the proper way to own your content. It’s why I started posting more short content without titles here. The offering of “thoughts and prayers” after each murderous mass shooting has become a nauseating refrain. You know the drill: The speakers/tweeters utter this blood-stained phrase (or a close variant) like robots.
Thoughts and prayers is the GOP way to get evangelical Christian support. That’s all it is, a ploy for votes, an an easy one at that. Just drop a few simple words on social media and gain support for your Godliness. Disgusting, the whole lot. 🤬

Activision Blizzard’s mandatory return-to-office policy is causing an unnecessary loss of talent, to the point where it could affect development of major titles like World of Warcraft and Diablo 4, according to some Blizzard developers.
Return to office has been a real hot button topic all over the country. Many jobs, like mine, don’t really require me to drive to the office.
Now, having said that, a lot of folks NEED and LOVE the interaction they have in person in an office. Our CEO is a prime example. He believes in person work is the best way to work. That’s all fine and good. Just remember others of us find it distracting, especially in open space offices.
I work in an all remote team at WillowTree but I think about going into the office once in a while for a little human interaction. 😁
One other note. I’d probably find it more tolerable since becoming an Engineering Director because I spend most of my day interacting with other folks. But developer Rob loves quiet and an open floor plan office was horrible for that. I can control my home workspace. At the office I’d have to find a place to hide to do meaningful work as a developer.

I like to tease my JavaScript friends when I get the chance. Most of them own up to the fact it’s a terrible language.😁
It’s the language of the web. No way around it at the moment. Some other thing will come along to replace it. I suppose WebAssembly could eventually be ubiquitous enough to allow us to code in other languages daily but it seems JavaScript is here to stay.

Gingerbread man as golem
@yaronata asked:
I would like to write a character who is Jewish and uses a Golem. She's based on the D&D class of the artificer which looks magic but isn't, because they produce all their effects with inventions, like the "any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic" quote. Her story is that her very Jewish town was under attack from a terrible monster when she was little. Her Rabbis made a Golem to protect the town, and it succeeded but was torn to pieces in the process. She was fascinated by the Golem and as a kid didn't see a big difference between it's sentience and person's so was really thankful for its sacrifice like you would a person's sacrificing their life for you. They thought all the pieces had been devoured by the monster before it died, but she went looking and found the piece used to animate the Golem, which she, kinda misunderstanding called its "heart". She kept the piece and grew up to be an incredibly skilled cook, specialising as a baker in the town. I imagine she would make a lot of really good food for the Jewish holidays, or to break fasts on ones like Yom Kippur or Tish'abav. But she also made a town specific holiday to honour the Golem's sacrifice and the town still being alive, because I feel "we are not dead woo" is a big theme for Jewish holidays from my research, so it could fit, for which she invented ginger bread men to be the golem, and gave them little "hearts" of fruit or honey, and you're meant to eat them limb by limb like the beast did before eating the heart. This would be the inspiration for using the "heart" piece later to make her own giant gingerbread Golem to help her save the world.
These are my questions 1) would it be considered bad or disrespectful for someone who isn't a Rabbi to make a Golem, or is this method of taking an animating piece someone else made disrespectful? 2) Her journey will take her far from her town and her Jewish family and friends and she will likely travel with gentiles. Would it be disrespectful for a Golem to be used to protect a lot of gentiles and one Jew in the course of saving the world? I don't want to fall into the stereotype of someone putting all their effort into valuing and protecting very specifically the group that in real life is oppressive to them. 3) While she is not using magic and is actually mimicking its effects with technology she invents, is this drawing too close to the line of "magical Jew"? 4) I like to "play test" my characters in ttrpgs to really get a feel for them before I write. Would it be disrespectful to play a Jewish character when I am a gentile, and would it be disrespectful to play a Jewish character in a setting where there are demonstrably real gods other than the one of Judaism?
I really like this character idea and I think it's cute and fun and rooted in Jewish culture but I really want to make sure it's respectful and as good as I, a gentile researching on the internet, thinks it is. Thanks so much! Have a nice day!
My answer to this is very complicated because there are things I both like and do not like about this premise. First of all, I love the idea of a cookie golem, and I'm even imagining the magic word that brings him to life (EMET/truth) would be written in icing. And I'm okay with the part about how she found a piece of the old golem and used it to build a new golem, because that makes sense for a golem made from a baked good when you think about how people use sourdough starter to make a new batch of sourdough.
However, here are the thing that make me cock my head to the side like my little sister's German shepherd:
1. re: "magical Jew" - that's not a trope I've ever heard of. Remember, marginalized groups don't receive identical disrespect across the board. It is indeed a trope to use Black people or disabled people as supernatural plot devices who exist only to further the stories of white main characters or able-bodied main characters. But I can't say as I've ever seen anyone using Jewishness that way. Usually if we are someone's one-dimensional plot device it's as someone's lawyer, fixer, "money guy", etc, not a supernatural force. So this isn't something you have to worry about.
2. I have a certain level of discomfort with you playing as a Jewish character just because playacting as a marginalized culture you're not part of strikes me as off, but I understand that that's how you gain insight into a character you're about to write so it's more of a writing exercise than anything else. (I wonder if D&D regulars from marginalized groups have written about this -- I've only played a few times casually with family so if I did run into this type of discussion in my social justice reading I wouldn't have absorbed it. If anyone is curious I played first as Captain Werewolf, and then switched to playing as Cinnamon Blade because lawful good was too hard. :P )
3. I would prefer you omit the detail about eating the cookies piece by piece symbolically, for two reasons: a. it unintentionally evokes Communion by having appreciative people consume a baked good symbolic of an entity who sacrificed his life for theirs, and b. focusing on the details of flesh consumption reminds me too much of Blood Libel (yes, a gingerbread man is in the shape of a person but how many of us actually think about it literally, the way this act would cause?)
As to your first question: I'm fine with her making a golem even though she's just a rando. Second question: I see what you're saying and maybe it could be more okay if it's really clear how well these gentile folks are treating her? And questions three and four are answered above.
I really do love the idea of a giant gingerbread man golem. Cookie golem T_T <3
--Shira
I would like to second Shira’s point about not ripping apart the gingerbread cookies. I honestly would prefer they were used as decoration, and other cookies eaten instead, since that part just feels so not-Jewish to me, but I don’t have golem-specific issues other than that. It seems like you have already been doing a lot of research, which is appreciated.
As far as the ttrpg/DnD aspect… I bounce back and forth on the topic of playing characters that are so very different from our experiences, other than in fantasy-related ways. However, I am aware that a lot of people will play with, and experiment with gender in game, and learn something about themselves in the process (the number of trans players of ttrpgs who tried out their gender in game before they were out is high). It’s different with Judaism, and even more significantly different when it comes to things you can’t convert into, like various actual, real-world races. But because people do sometimes experience growth from experiences like this, I’m hesitant to dissuade players completely. I do urge you to, at a minimum, bring the same care, research, and willingness to learn, that you brought to this question.
--Dierdra
This sounds like a creative storyline that you could have lots of fun with 😊
At first I was confused by this part:
She also made a town specific holiday to honour the Golem's sacrifice
But then you really got me thinking about different types of Jewish holidays and how they come about, so thank you for that!
Because it’s often the little details that either make a story super powerful or kind of nonsensical, I think it would be a good idea to decide what type of holiday is being created here:
A full-blown chag with restrictions on labour and halachic obligations? These are commanded in Torah and new ones can’t be added.
A minor yom tov with halachic obligations but no restrictions? These were instituted by the rabbis prior to the destruction of the Temple, so again new ones can’t be added.
A public holiday or equivalent? This would usually be declared by the Knesset in Israel, and filter to the rest of the Jewish world from there.
A community-based yom tov with specific customs only for people in the know, such as certain Chasidic groups celebrating the birthdays of their deceased leaders? I asked around, but no one can really tell me how these holidays get started, which is probably a good indication that they arise quite organically from a group of people who all just feel that it should be celebrated. Probably not created by a single person, as such.
Something she runs from her bakery, not religion-based, but more like a day of doing special products and deals the way many small businesses do on their anniversary?
Now, if the people of a modern-day town were actually saved by a real live Golem, that would arguably be the most overt miracle for many generations, so there would be a decent chance of options 3 and/or 4 happening. It’s entirely plausible that there could be special foods for this day that become a tradition, including Golem cookies. People who directly benefited might also return to the site where the Golem fought the monster and recite the prayer, ‘Blessed is Hashem, Master of the Universe, Who performed a miracle for me in this place.’
Alternatively, if it’s important that your MC created the holiday, something like option 5 might be the best. Hopefully this will still fulfil what you need: you describe her as incredibly skilled, so I can imagine the day when she goes all out on the Golem cookies being one of the most exciting events of the year for the townspeople, just because her baking is that good. Plus, they already have a personal stake in the Golem’s sacrifice, so I definitely think it could be a thing without being an official holiday. Also, if she is outside of an all-Jewish environment, don’t forget that she would have to decide whether to commemorate the anniversary in the Hebrew calendar or the local one.
Coming back to the cookies, sorry if we’re getting a little repetitive on this point! But I don’t see the cookies being torn limb from limb as part of a celebration. First of all, this doesn’t sound like a very celebratory thing to do, to say the least. Can you imagine explaining that to a three-year-old on their first Yom HaGolem? They would be terrified! (I don’t read this suggestion as accidental anti-Semitism so much as getting carried away with a metaphor, which I’m sure as writers we have all done!)
But also, it’s worth pointing out that our commemorative foods aren’t usually that literal. If you think about hamantaschen, maror, or apple in honey, they’re all symbols. That’s not to say that having Golem-shaped cookies is a problem, as this sounds like just a bit of fun that the MC is having and not something that is directly at odds with Judaism or Jewish culture. But it’s worth bearing in mind that the more literal you go from there in terms of tying the cookies to the event they commemorate, the less culturally aligned your holiday food becomes.
Finally, about the Golem protecting non-Jewish people: I like this idea! There’s a stereotype that we only use whatever is at our disposal to help ourselves and other Jewish people, so a Golem being created by Jews but helping others as well is a big plus for me. Of course, as has already been pointed out, this would be an odd choice if her Saving The World team were anti-Semitic or otherwise disrespectful to her/her community, but I don’t think you were headed that way!
-Shoshi
I have to come back in here just to squee over the phrase “Yom HaGolem.” Well done :D

High Guardian Spice Redo
I know Crunchyroll’s new series High Guardian Spice has gotten…less than favourable reviews and criticism with some people even rewriting some scenes or redesigning the characters. Thought I might give it a try.
Make the show a magic fantasy genre/hero anime deconstruction/satire. If it’s for mature audiences might be better to have the show point out the flaws of their world, even child shows have done deconstructions well. Have the whole magic hero fantasy be shattered for the main characters and see the dark reality of it. People die, lives are at stake, u could die on TRAINING PRACTICE! It can also be played for dark comedy, for a mature humour. Maybe someone dies and the teacher could be like “wow, that happened sooner than expected”. Maybe it could come off like an abridged anime.
Sword Art Online Abridged by Something Witty Entertainment is one of the funniest abridged series in my opinion and many have considered it better than the original itself. I also like Tomotasauce’s abridged work with Amphibia and The Owl House. U can find them on YouTube, they’re hilarious🤣 The theme song, credits and soundtrack be mixed with more modern music such as techno and rock. Like Aggretsuko. More mature content and humour. I don’t really swear or do mature content things like that and a mature show doesn’t necessarily need it or should rely too much on shock humour like that but if this is for mature audiences, should have more mature content. Plus a lot of abridged series and satire tend to do this.
Make the show more animesque. I don’t think it’s bad to mix Western and anime style together but perhaps should be more anime styled. Western could work too. Depends on how you draw the style really rather than the style itself.
A Guardian is basically someone apart of a hero agency. An organization of heroes and trained fighters who help take care of things such as monster attacks or evil villains. Their biggest threat yet is the mysterious and elusive "Trimuvirate" and their many minions of evil. A running gag could be the cast and more being confused of what being a "Guardian" means. Most Guardians come in groups. There could also be corruption and flawed things the Guardian organization has. Seriously the cast are young teens, even younger. Apparently Parnell is 10…A TEN YR OLD IN A SCHOOL WHERE YOU COULD DIE, WHAT THE-. Good deconstruction potential on hero academies encouraging children into dangerous crap. Also instead of the students being chosen, you can enroll by choice but you might also get an offer, if shown to have potential, like a college offer. Set the world in a more modern fantasy setting. Would portray new magic/modern themes better and in previous stuff, shown the show having more modern things such as business buildings and street lights.
The Academy to put students of different classes such as warrior and mage together, D&D together for better defense and power.
Perhaps another running gag could be confusion of the whole show in general, like breaking the fourth wall. Is it an anime, kids show, DND, action hero, No one fully knows. And netheir does the cast. Could be more up to interpretation. Shows can have multiple themes.
Old and New Magic. Old magic is traditional, mystical magic like with potions, rituals etc while new magic is simpler and more technological. Basically old magic is just traditional way of doing things before, technology. People use new magic now a days for most things such as electricity, internet, and even weapon fire power and lost interest in old magic. But new magic was built from old magic and can still be used for a lot of things, such as healing, cooking and combat too, can also represent old and new ideals.  There’s a lot of heated arguments and debates over which is better. Sage and Amaryllis have had these and still do in the rewrite. Both have their pros and cons.
Old magic takes more time and practice but because of said time and work put into it, easier to control and allows you to do more complex and powerful spells. Also connected to nature and the elements
While new magic is magic that’s stored and can be stored into terraspheres and other technological devices and systems. It’s easier to use and apply to things but far more unpredictable and if not careful can cause serious damage. Also can’t be used to perform ancient spells, done with old magic.
Together, they’re nearly unstoppable. It’s difficult for one to use both old and new magic together . Only some of the most experienced and powerful magic users can do this. Think of it like environmental energy like solar powered machines and wind mills.
It’d also be fun for the show to reflect on fantasy/hero cliches and stereotypes like the whole Mary Sue magical girl savior. Maybe Rosemary had fantasies like that and has them all  basically destroyed first day at the academy. Like The Owl House style with Luz’s magic fantasy dreams. Perhaps she even tries to do a grand, iconic character introduction or internal anime monologue only to get hit by something or attacked while in the midst.
Change the name. Many people have pointed out that even though Spice is in the name, the main 4 girls are named after HERBS! I’m thinking instead of just a spice or herb, maybe it could be called “Sweet High Guardian”. Ngl when I saw the show and named it made me think of dessert and food. Maybe the girls and other characters could be named after ingredients or even food. Could have a food/dessert theme.
A lot of people have been criticizing the main girls looks, especially Sage’s for being too bland and cliche. Maybe mix the traditional D&D look with some modern fashion elements.
Snapdragon's identity journey. Not that I have anything against trans characters but many people have discussed about the unfortunate implications the show made, with them implying that a guy liking traditionally feminine things mean he’s automatically trans and the whole “all men are bad” controversy in general. So perhaps Snap could be still a guy but enjoys traditionally feminine things and effeminate and learn that’s perfectly ok and doesn’t make you any less of a man like vice versa for a girl liking traditionally masculine things. There’s also the idea of Snap not really feeling like either and exploring that, like being non binary or gender fluid. The trans journey really could work too. There's really no bad ideas, just bad execution. I'm not an expert on this kind of stuff but it seems to be an issue of how the message was delivered.
The villains, Olive, Mandrake, Triumvirate to appear sooner.
Have characters like Aster and Cal have sympathetic, relatable traits. For Aster maybe he came from a traditional knight saves damsel in distress family and tries to be that but learns the problems with that mindset. And Cal maybe a jerk with a heart of gold. Either way, just have some more positive masculine characters.
Beach episode. Guess the mermaid ep kinda counts.
Prom or fun event dance episode. Similar to the Halloween one.
Character tropes deconstruction. Since it's satire in my version and deconstructing the whole fantasy hero stuff, makes sense to break down the character cliches too. Like Ex. Rosemary trying to be some MarySue knight in shining armor magical girl, falls flat on her face, trying to fit the ideals like being brave and charming end up with her being reckless and even annoying. People criticize how the writers are trying to make Rose be a plucky wide eyed hero only for her to come off annoying, so maybe that could be played for straight. It's suppose to be the opposite effect. And with the show having a vague concept and Rose trying to be so many things could be her trying too hard to compesnate to be like her mother and not fully knowing what she really wants or what she's getting into. The message for her arc could be learning that she shouldn't be trying to be like her mother or some Mary Sue magical warrior or whatever, but rather just be herself.
What do u guys think? Any ideas u want to share? Feel free to add💖

for this specific universe, the world mostly operates in modern technology and science
or, at least, there are clear, yet somehow overlapping distinctions between the urban and rural areas
taller buildings, more asphalt than dirt, crowded streets, more smoke than fresh air, overpriced food, etc.
plus, in this world, people believe the scientific explanations for “unexplainable” things more than the ancient, religious-related ones
like how natural disasters happen because of natural occurrences — and not because some god is having a fit
yet, nothing in the world can prepare you for this
especially when you can’t even fathom what this is
all you know is: one moment you were crossing a familiar busy street, surrounded by towering glass buildings and automatic cars;
then was lying on the middle of an uneven road, surrounded by traditionally-built establishments and horse-pulled wagons, the next
you absolutely have no idea where you are nor how you got here
you can’t come up with an explanation why there’s blood running down your face, either
nor even a possible reason why the people in your line of sight are all wearing traditional clothes
somehow, you just decided to conclude that you were dreaming
even if you don’t remembering sleeping in the first place
you don’t know why your brain decided to dream about how life was back then
considering that you haven’t thought about your country’s past since you finished your required history credits
thus the apparent intricate details of the dream were really alarming for someone with only a vague memory of what was taught
so, naturally, it sparks your curiosity — especially in regards to how this dream will play out
however, your curiosity isn’t as intense as your gut feeling that something unpleasant is about to happen
and you didn’t like it
so, instead, you willed your consciousness in this particular dream to fade out and channeled a different, more modern dream
.
.
.
unfortunately for you, it didn’t work
mostly because
well
you aren’t dreaming to begin with
for one, even if you did learn about your country’s history, you didn’t learn it in an extent that you’d retain insignificant information about their domestic affairs
you may have learned the order of succession to the throne, but you never learned the precise interrelationships of their subjects
you didn’t learn about their mannerisms nor etiquettes, either
yet, somehow, this “dream” strictly follows a set of rules you don’t even personally know
but what really solidifies the idea that you aren’t dreaming is the fact that it hurt when you tripped over yourself
because the footwear you’re forced to don feels a bit uncomfortable
definitely nothing like the shoes you’re used to, that’s for sure
suffice to say, the panic you felt seems like it resonated through the cosmos and every alternative universe
unfortunately, your panic’s magnitude isn’t enough to get you back in your rightful time
however, it did give you the only possible explanation for the time travel you unknowingly did
if you remember correctly, the last memory you have of your world is
witnessing an eclipse as you cross the street
and as much as you grew up in an era where science has explanations to mostly everything . . .
you somehow convinced yourself that the eclipse has something to do with your predicament
it didn’t help that you remember hearing a loud beep before you woke up in the middle of a town market, either
you absolutely have no clue how you can go back in your own time
and, after waiting a few days to see if you’ll just magically go back,
highkey thinking the whole experience is a free trial interactive drama
you’re left to accept reality
that you’re essentially stuck in history
rip
.
.
.
.
it has been years since you arrived in the modern world of your ancestors a thousand years ago
admittedly, it took you some time to fully adjust to your new world
especially since it’s a real challenge to wrap your head around the traditional beliefs that are already outdated in your era
but after experiencing the fear of possibly facing the king’s wrath for sticking by your liberal beliefs
you are essentially forced to assimilate and not act based on your modern ideals
you don’t want to unknowingly change history’s course, anyway, so you figured it’s best to blend in as much as possible
one thing you find hard to believe is the fact that you are a member of a powerful clan
like . . . just what did your ancestors fck up on that your familial name carries no wealth nor influence in the modern day????
from what you learned, your clan literally has an alliance with the royal family
through the marriage of your fourth cousin to the crown prince
ngl you seriously want to know how your ancestors managed to lose the honor that comes from having a queen in the family
not that you really care, especially considering that there’s easily a thousand-year gap between your new present and your old one, but
you want to know why no one has brought up this part of your family history during family gatherings, at least
as if the news that you might be distantly related to a royal family member during this particular era isn’t already shocking enough, you also learned that
you — the vessel that you inhibit during this era — are really close with your fourth cousin, the future queen
really close as in she literally nursed you back to health and showed you the ropes around your new home and everything
she’s essentially your old sister tbh
that’s why you highkey feel bad about just going along with what the physician diagnosed you with
even though you know very well it’s not true
according to the physician, based on your bleeding head when you were found lying in the middle of the town market, you suffered from a head trauma
which unfortunately caused you to lose your memories
that’s the truth you live by since going around and telling people that you’re from the future is out of question
while doing so might not necessarily guarantee that you’ll change the course of history, it does guarantee your death probably
most likely
no doubt abt it
good thing it’s v easy to pretend you lost your memories given that you never had them in the first place
so you’re more than happy to pretend that you’re just someone who lost all your memories rather than someone who traveled back in time
you did hear people whisper than you seem like a completely different person ever since your accident, though
but whatever
if they aren’t scared about what your clan can do, they’ll surely be scared of what the crown prince’s clan can
after all, you’re under him and his wife’s care
so you figured no one will dare to bother you
no one except the other princes, that is
considering you live in the crown prince’s household, you get to see the other princes often
more often than you would’ve liked tbh
the medicine and technology of this time isn’t that great compared to modern day; so, out of the ten known sons of the king, only seven are still alive
(finally it’s time to introduce the princes!! i’ve been waiting for this smh)
(if you know who i named the princes after and why, just know that i appreciate you sm)
first-in-line is crown prince joongi of the lees — your fourth cousin’s husband; your proxy older brother that looks after you and goes along with any shenanigans you do as long as you don’t get hurt
second-in-line is the third prince inyeop of the hwangs — your favorite tutor, who you don’t really learn anything from because you keep bantering with him
third-in-line is the fourth prince taejoon of the chois — your actual tutor, because he gotta pick up what the third prince can’t teach you or else the crown prince will give them an earful
yea . . . you don’t know why you have literal princes as tutors, either
you blame the crown prince tbh
you just know he’s just taking advantage of his brothers’ habit of hanging out in his home
but anyway . . .
fourth-in-line is the fifth prince seunghoon of the lees — crown prince’s full brother; literally your inseparable partner-in-crime since you both live in the same household
sixth-in-line is the seventh prince jungkook of the jeons — the most artistically-inclined out of all the princes; you like hanging out with him especially if you want some peace and quiet
ngl you and the fifth prince have been slowly tainting him with the wonders of mischief
but the crown prince doesn’t know that, so shhhh
and seventh-in-line is the tenth prince seonwoo of the kims — the youngest, the baby, the must protecc
don’t be fooled tho: he sneaks out and wonders around the most
the only reason you know so is bc you and the fifth prince saw him out and about one time you both snuck out to pet any of the dogs and cats you see around the capital
based on his sure movements, you could both tell he sneaks out a lot
you both agreed not to approach him tho
nor tell on him
bc a mischief doer mustn’t tell on their fellow mischief doer and all that
(un)fortunately, you haven’t met whoever completes the king’s seven alive sons
not that you want to bother knowing who he is or wtv
not with the other six already keeping you pretty well preoccupied anw
so yea
life in the past isn’t as difficult as you thought it would be
maybe because you’re essentially an adopted royalty
so your life is comfortable and you can basically do whatever you want to some extent
it’s nowhere near how your life used to be in the modern world
but it’s bearable
esp bc of the shenanigans you and the princes pull occasionally
you don’t know if it’s a good or bad thing that you no longer miss your old life as much as you used to
probably an aftermath of the length of years you have already spent getting used to everything
but y’know
it’s not like you managed to find a way home in those years
or anything that can give you hope that it’s possible to go back
so there isn’t really any point longing for what you can no longer have
your best — and only — move is to just live happily in your new life

.
“congratulations on your engagement, brother!”
you’d be lying if you said you expected that exclamation during one of the afternoons you drank tea with your cousin and the princes
sure, you knew that people during this era gets married young and all
but how in the world is prince jungkook going to get married before his three older brothers???
“what the—” *you cough violently, fist pounding on your chest* “how is jungkook-nim going next—” *coughs* “what happened to you three??”
your coughing is so uncontrollable that your cousin put it upon herself to pat your back to help you regain composure
your ears didn’t miss the sound of prince seunghoon’s laugh at your current state tho smh
“our birth order doesn’t decide our marriage order, [nickname]”
“so, you’re telling me seonwoo-nim can get married before inyeop-nim???”
“ . . . yes”
“yah! i don’t like what you’re implying, you little—”
cue the chaos (*hits the slate*)
it took a while before everyone calmed down
but the crown prince managed eventually
(imagine trying to control six kids at once? yea, poor first-born prince is exhausted)
everyone then moved onto talking abt the seventh prince’s upcoming wedding
personally, you are just pestering prince jungkook to introduce you to his betrothed
but the princes are more interested in wondering if the occasion will grant the attendance of their other brother
which doesn’t really interest you because knowing six princes is already far too many for your liking
you certainly don’t want to know more of their kind, honestly
so, naturally, you decided to tune out their conversation
no disrespect on whoever they are talking abt tho
after all, you have been living in this era for years now
if this prince is someone worth knowing, you should’ve known him by now
but you don’t
so you just settled for crossing the bridge when you get there
or, in other words, you’ll just bother knowing about him whenever you meet him
. . . if you ever meet him, that is
