The Lord of the Rings is back this summer!

The WhatsOnStage Award-winning production of The Lord of the Rings is set to make its US debut this summer. Chicago Shakespeare Theater’s artistic director Edward Hall and executive director Kimberly Motes confirmed the news today that the Watermill Theatre’s new staging will debut at The Yard, running from 19 July to 1 September 2024. The American production will be directed by Paul Hart, who created and helmed the piece here in the UK in 2023.

As a holiday gift, I commissioned Aoife O'Dea to sing Luthien's Lullaby from the Lay of Leithian musical.

There couldn't be a more perfect fit- Aoife, who played Arwen in Watermill Theatre's Lord of the Rings musical last year, and Luthien, Arwen's elven ancestor, using the magic of song to send us off to sleep.

IT IS FINISHED! I've been working on this painting since January, and it has been a certified struggle, but also SUCH a fun time! I haven't painted anything with acrylics in years and years, and nothing this ambitious in even longer. I'm unbelievably proud of how well this came out and I really hope y'all like it too! 🙏

Anyway, in this household we love and adore Georgia Louise and her portrayal of Galadriel in The Lord of the Rings: A Musical Tale. I was so unbelievably lucky to see her perform this role live, and it was a performance I'll never forget 💖 A genuine elven queen! I really hope we get to see her in the role again someday! 🤞

Does anyone one else remember that terrible Tolkien adaptation called The Lord of the Rings Musical?

It was super weird, very expensive with a moving stage, used almost none of Tolkien’s actual songs and was quickly forgotten…
