A look of despair that no one can fathom

Is something I can’t just ignore or hide

It’s like an abyss that goes on and on

Forever and forever without end

It’s a void, a emptiness that I can’t conquer

No matter how many times I start over

I may smile on the outside

But inside my heart is crushed

This sadness behind my hazel eyes

Is a burden I can’t dismiss

I feel so alone in this world

A darkness in my soul that's uncurled

Even with the brightest of smiles

My hazel eyes cannot disguise

The pain that I feel deep within

A constant ache that never relents

It's like a heavy blanket over my head
