#live action disney remakes

Honestly I think I speak for everybody when I say that if Disney absolutely HAD to dig up their classic films, I would rather get sequels than live action remakes.
Like the straight to DVD sequals had potential and a couple of them were actually good. If they had higher budgets and more time to work on them I think that more of them would be really great.
They dug up older charecters but at the VERY LEAST had some original ideas and concepts, again preferably I would want neither but if a Disney exec put a gun to my head and asked me wether I wanted to see "live action" versions of Robin Hood, Hercules, Snow White, and Treasure Planet OR a full blown sequel, I will pick the sequals

when will people learn that live-action remakes will never be good as their original animated counterparts because the glory of animation is the colour, movement, and fantasy that's just untranslateable to live-action

If Disney is so dead-set on pumping out these live-action remakes and sequels to remakes, then where's my live-action remake of Cinderella III: A Twist in Time? I want Cate Blanchet bending the laws of the universe while dramatically snarling "Bibbity bobbity boo!" I want undercover Lily James on a stealth mission in the palace with her mice. I want Richard Madden yeeting himself out of a second story window to chase down his true love. If you're gonna commit to this whole live-action remake thing, then you'd better freaking commit.

live-action remakes or animated movies don't suck because live action is Inherently Less Magical And Awe-Inspiring or whatever other nonsense people like to spew. Guillermo del Toro doesn't turn out an absolutely breathtaking live-action sci-fi/fantasy/horror/thriller movie with incredible practical effects every few years for this anti-live-action ingratitude
no, they suck because the ones that currently exist are 99% soulless Disney cash-grabs with very little love or heart to them, where the geuninely talented artists working on them were hamstrung by the company's corner-cutting

Honestly it's so fucking disgusting that the MCU and it's imitators have trained audiences to expect sequels, spinoffs, reboots, and a big crossover cinematic universe.
Like goddamn not EVERY FUCKING THING NEEDS A CINEMATIC UNIVERSE.
Like yeah I know I say "SCU" (Shrek cinematic universe) but that's a joke. I don't think we need a movie focusing on every little aspect of the Shrek world.
Or like...ok but I might be a little biased bc I fucking hate the live action Disney remakes (not for any political reason like I'm not an anti-woke weirdo but bc they're all bad shitty takes on classic Disney films with bad CGI that looks lifeless) but like...mf we don't need them to crossover, that's a shit idea and making a live action kingdom hearts movie to cross them all over is a doubly shit idea, speaking from a kingdom hearts fan.
Also like making a smash bros movie with Pikachu, Sonic, and Mario is a terrible idea bc all 3 films have drastically different tones and artstyles, and also if you want them to shit out more video game movie adaptations just to get a smash bros movie, fuck you, yes I want movie adaptations of Pikmin, Kirby, Zelda, Star Fox and Metroid but I DONT want them all done by illumination in order to make a smash bros movie. Smash Bros dosent work with a story, and also illumination can't handle making a movie with a darker storyline, I would rather them done by different studios. Also the detective Pikachu and Sonic movie, as well as the potential Metal Gear, MegaMan, Pac-Man and Minecraft movies would have vastly different artstyles and tones.
Not everything needs to be a cinematic universe. Thats what ruined modern star wars and DC movies.
Like did y'all watch illumination's the Grinch and go "I boy I hope they have a Dr.seuss cinematic universe with the lorax and Horton hears a who!" Like wtf marvel fucking spoiled y'all.

fake disney remakes by year: snow white, 1937
blanche snow has been bringing a smile and a song to a depressed america since she was a child. gracious to a fault and sweet as pie, she’s adored by her audiences, her co-stars, and her studio alike. even the gossip columnist flo prince, whose pen is as a dagger in the hearts of leading players and studio execs everywhere, can’t help but love her.
but there’s one person who doesn’t appreciate seeing blanche’s face beaming out at her from a magazine or a poster: her stepmother, hildy la verne. once upon a time, hildy was the uncontested queen of the silver screen, but the talkies cramped her over-the-top style, and the studios got tired of hushing up her scandals - like the mysterious death of her last husband.
when blanche is cast in a sound remake of one of hildy’s old films, she hits her breaking point. she doesn’t believe blanche when she swears that she tried to talk the studio out of it, and what was once an ordinary dislike of the girl turns into pure poison.
hildy hires the gangster “doc” diamante to get rid of blanche for good, promising a queen’s ransom for getting the job done. but doc and his fellas aren’t nearly as bad as they’d like people to think they are - and they love blanche’s movies. so it’s not difficult for her to come out the other side with seven new bodyguards and a safe place to hide from her stepmother.
meanwhile, blanche’s disappearance has become the talk of hollywood. flo is convinced that hildy was involved, and he’s determined not to let her get away with it... but she’s proving a lot more dangerous than he thought she was.
feat. rachel zegler as blanche snow, freddy carter as flo prince, jessica chastain as hildy la verne, and steve buscemi as “doc” diamante.

there are literally so many reasons why we don't need a third Narnia adaptation
first of all, while they might not be the most accurate, the Disney movies are actually so good and, in my opinion, still manage to capture the heart and soul of the series and what it's truly about. The characters are each perfectly portrayed; the Pevensies act like actual siblings and yet love each other dearly and would die for each other even through all the petty arguments; the music creates perfect atmosphere and emotion and never fails to make me tear up or get shivers down my spine; and the CGI is honestly just absolutely stunning.
I really do not feel like we need another adaptation by Netflix.
Especially not through Netflix.
Netflix has already been known to mess up so many shows and movies by completely changing the source material or adding in unnecessary things that completely take away from the purpose of the story. I can already see them warping Narnia into something that barely even resembles the books, that strips it of its purpose and simply makes it about a fantasy world, nothing more. I've already seen posts saying that the new movies just can't end the way the books end, that heaven must be explained away, that Susan never forgets and falls down a dark path, that the faith aspect must be taken out so as not to offend new viewers.
Here's the thing.
If you take faith out of Narnia, you remove the very heart of the series. you remove the entire purpose. Because Narnia is entirely about faith, and trust, and Someone greater than yourself who sacrifices everything to save your own traitorous soul. the Disney movies did not shy away from portraying this faith as openly as possible. if anyone was offended, I've never seen proof. I have seen many nonbelievers talk about how much they were affected by Aslan's death, which goes to show that you simply don't have to be Christian to understand what Narnia is about, and to love and enjoy it.
So if these new remakes remove the faith aspect, then what is the point? four siblings go to a magical land and save it from a witch and befriend a talking lion with nothing special about him and live there as kings and queens and return home and live happily ever after? there is no sacrifice, there is no "he's not tame, but he is good," there is no creation, there is no redemption, there is no last battle, there is no "in your world, I have another name", there is no sister straying down a dark path because she has forgotten how to hope, and then returning because her story is unfinished and the road to heaven is paved with flowers that symbolize her name.
so then, what are you left with? Aslan is just a talking lion, nothing more. the stone table never cracks, the sun never rises. "That by knowing me here for a little, you may know me better there" is forgotten entirely, because why would Aslan exist in our world if he is merely a talking lion in Narnia? Aslan's country is changed to be something else, and there is nothing about how Aslan suddenly no longer looks like a lion, and how the things that happened after are more great and beautiful than can be described. Edmund's life is never threatened because of his traitorous deeds; Aslan never offers his own life in place of a guilty boy, is never killed, is never resurrected.
the very core of Narnia is removed, and what you are left with is emptiness.
sure, it might make for a good fantasy story nonetheless. you might still have sweeping views and epic music and an intriguing plotline, but something will always feel like it is missing. like there is an empty hole, desperately needing to be filled.
of course, I don't know that all of that will happen; it's just speculation at this point. But I am fairly sure that it is safe to predict these upcoming movies as such. I highly doubt the producers will want to include the faith that shapes Narnia, because according to them, having a faith aspect means less viewers since too many people would be offended.
but if only they would look at the already wonderful existing adaptations, they would know that is simply not the case.

Hey look it’s Simba, I mean Nala, I mean Mufasa, I mean Kiara, I mean…
Man, if only there was an easier way to be able to tell the characters apart…like 2D animation or something 🤔
