Little women thoughts, tell me if I'm crazy: What I love about Jo and Laurie is that Laurie wants to subconsciously be a woman while Jo desperately wants to be a man. They're both stuck in the gender roles they were born with and I think that's why they bond so well. Laurie has no want to go to college and run his grandfathers business. He wants to stay at home, write music and be with the March girls. And Jo desperately wants to see the world and be taken seriously like a man. Why shes so reluctant to get married(besides hating change) because she fears being forced in a man's role. Which is the crazy reason why I ship them so much. Like if they could Laurie would happily be Jo's wife and Jo wouldn't mind being his husband.
I had never seen things like that for Laurie but my god, you are right !
Tumblr media
There is definitely a very feminine side to Laurie’s character !
Personally, I ship Jo and Laurie in all versions. But the one from 1994 is the very first one I saw and has a special place in my heart. Winona Ryder playing Jo is one of my favorite actresses, and this version made me fall in love with Jo and Laurie. I never understood why they didn't end up together. For me, either Jo should have ended up with Laurie, or single.
I don't particularly like the character of friedrich. Afterwards, I like the 2019 version, for the simple reason that the ending is interpretable according to the director and we can imagine that Jo may not in fact end up with this guy...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
But I generally agree that I think Jo and Laurie would have had a good and happy marriage, at least for sure in the 1994 version where the actors have overwhelming chemistry.
THIS FUCKING KISSING SCENE ?!

Peach Boy
Tumblr media
Timothée Chalamet x fem!Reader
As the set buzzed with activity, I found myself in the midst of the action, watching my best friend Timothèe embody the character of Laurie in the scenes of "Little Women." His transformation was captivating to me; the boy that I had known for years seemed to dissolve into the persona of a charming, albeit sometimes aggravating, young man.
I couldn't help but admire Timothèe's talent. Each gesture, each inflection of his voice, painted a portrait of Laurie, distinct from the Timothèe I knew off-screen. His portrayal was captivating, drawing me in despite my best efforts to keep my emotions in line.
Throughout the filming, Timothèe's occasional glances in my direction sent ripples of warmth through me. His winks and smiles, though brief, reassured me of our undeniable connection.
As the hours flew by, a chill settled over the set, causing me to grab Timothèe's abandoned jacket, draping it around myself, as I was enveloped in the scent of his perfume, making a familiar comfort surge through my body.
Then, as abruptly as it began, the director's voice rang out, signaling the end of filming. Timothèe approached me, a mixture of exhaustion and amusement dancing in his eyes as he saw my motionless figure, wrapped up in his jacket.
"What's up, Peach boy?" Florence quipped, slightly messing up Timothèe's hair with a playful affection.
Her glances spoke volumes, and he couldn't help but wonder if she saw what he dared to not admit.
Timothèe's laughter filled the air, a melody I knew by heart. "Oh, you know just hanging," he replied awkwardly, rubbing the back of his neck, shooting an awkward grin in my direction.
Florence looked at my figure, then back at Timothée, a smirk immediately going on her face as she leaned in close, pressing her mouth against his ear, before whispering, "have fun," and sending him a wink, causing a light shade of pink to take over his face.
Feeling a presence surrounding me, I opened my eyes. Letting a sigh of relief once I realized who the presence belonged to. "Hi," I said, tiredness evident in my voice, as Timothée's attention immediately became directed at me.
"Hey, thought you'd never wake up" He teased, his lips quivering into a smirk.
"Oh hush up," I said, rolling me eyes
"Am I just that boring to you, that my acting, that my JOB put you to sleep?"
"Yeah, I hated it," I joked laughing at his shocked face.
In that moment, our playful banter was a shield against ou unspoken truths lingering between us. As Timothèe's gaze met mine, a rush of anticipation coursed through me. His proximity was intoxicating, like there was a silent invitation hanging in the air, as the tension crackled between us, a palpable energy begging to be acknowledged.
"No, you were amazing. Your acting skills could never keep me away," I said softly, a smile tugging at the corners of my lips.
His laughter was a familiar symphony, a melody that resonated deep within me.
In the hush that followed, our eyes locked in a silent exchange, the unspoken becoming increasingly louder, then, in a daring move, Timothèe closed the distance between us, his lips brushing against mine in a tantalizing caress.
In that moment, time stood still, the world falling away as our hearts beat in unison.
But our moment was interrupted by the sound of an applause, a gentle reminder of the world outside our bubble of intimacy.
As Florence's voice broke through the silence, her joyous laughter filled the air, a testament to the bonds that bound us together.
With a shared glance, Timothèe and I embraced the inevitable, our laughter mingling with the echoes of our newfound connection.
"About time! Tim, I'll trust that you won't mess this up," Florence said, a hint of teasing evident in her voice.
"Fucking asshole." Timothèe's laughter echoed through the air, as he looked down at me, shaking his head.
"Do you want to go back to the hotel?" I nodded in agreement, "But, can you carry me to the car, I don't want to walk," I said with a pout.
Timothèe gave me a small smile before he lifted me effortlessly into his arms, I couldn't help but smile as well, the weight of our shared secret had finally been lifted.
Once we made our way back to the familiarity of the room, the only sounds to be heard were the sounds of our footsteps ringing through the quiet night, as I smiled to myself, looking up at Timothée, then down to where our hands were connected, and in that moment, as the world finally faded into the background, I knew that our journey was only just beginning.

Why does no one ever talk about the parallels between the Laurie and Jo failed proposal and Laurie and Amy confession scene?
The fact that both March sisters when they realize what Laurie is going to say respond with “No, no” then Laurie’s “I’ve loved you ever since I’ve known you Jo” parallels Amy’s “I’ve spent my entire life loving you.”
This is driving me insane. I keep thinking about it.

jo march blossomed into a world where the end all for women is romantic love. a world where romance is prized and valued over friendships, sometimes even familial bonds, leaving those who do not dwell on such subjects to feel isolated. loneliness for jo is not the lack of a romantic partner. it is the cold tones of an empty attic that is haunted by the memory of one filled with the golden light of laughter from best friends and sisters. Not much has changed from past to now with the idea that love is all a woman is fit for.
it's seen as taboo for a strong coded female character to admit to wanting to be loved. years of cultural messaging made many women associate independence or female autonomy with being stoic, being emotionless, the weapon-wielding, frequently assumed heterosexual heroine should be alone or else she is risking exhibiting subordination or dependence. as if her coexistence with a man automatically diminishes her to a secondary character. the emotional burden of romance, in most mainstream media, is often carried by the female character. even in the arc of the male hero, his love interest is written solely to fulfill a function as a stepping stone to self-actualization or a precursor is his "man pain."
jo march is terrified of change. she finds no comfort in the future. jo would prefer to stay young and play in the attic till the children’s last breaths because what was can feel better than what is.  however, change is forever linked to the wheel of time. suddenly, all this change came in rapidly in her life, as it does for all people when nearing the endings of childhood. everything is happening so quickly, and it can not be undone.
jo has a desperate desire- need to be alone, however not to be lonely. she is a woman fueled by passion, a passion that has consumed her entire being into a state of delusion. delusion in the sense that she lives in hopes that her and loved ones will stay youthful to play with her. jo's passion is bound by the inevitable, time. the little world that she had created with her sisters had shattered from the "curse" of aging. therefore, she actively tries to keep that same spark in her writing. her fantasy is better than the burden of reality. jo march is grieving the loss of innocence and childhood. as everyone else is going along with their individual lives, jo has either consciously or subconsciously chosen to never emotionally grow up.

Proposals
Pairing: Nikolai Lantsov x Fem!reader
Tumblr media
summary: Nikolai's proposal doesn't go as he'd planned. fic type - angst, hurt/no comfort, Little Women esc warning - sad shit, Nikolai gets his feelings hurt. word count - 1,271 a/n: so this is basically just the story version of the Little Women/Nikolai post I made a little while ago. this hurt so much more to write than the "incorrect quote" version.

The Grand Palace's gardens were constantly the meeting place of the Nikolai and (Y/N). For decades, when the two would be at the Grand Palace, they would be found in those gardens. And just like those times, the duo were walking through the gardens after a small gathering for Nikolai's coronation. They walked side by side, taking in the rows of flowers and various arch-shaped bushes. The scene felt just as calming and serene as it always did.
The two softly talked back and forth as they went along - sharing small jokes and stories. "Nina running off with her Fjerdan. Zoya off to Kerch. And now that you're king, you'll be off in meetings and trips. I'm just not good like Alina, so I'm angry and restless." (Y/N) complained to the blonde boy. She reached out to Nikolai and swayed around, causing the two to stumble a bit.
Nikolai glanced down at her and hesitantly laughed. "You don't have to stay here, (Y/N)." he softly smiled at her.
(Y/N) stumbled forward, chuckling and waving her arms haphazardly. "Why? Should we run off and join a pirate ship again?" she laughed. The girl moved around in front of Nikolai, and stood in her old sword-wielding stance. When she didn't get a response from her friend she slowly turned around. The serious look on his face caused her happy one to drop. "No. No."
Nikolai tried to get closer to the girl. "It's no use, (Y/N)."
(Y/N) stepped back. "Please don't."
"(Y/N), we've got to have it out." he pleaded.
Nikolai tried to reach out for his friend but she hurriedly moved away. "No. Sobachka..."
"I have loved you ever since I've known you, (Y/N). I couldn't help it. And I tried to show you and you wouldn't let me, which is fine." Nikolai's voice came out shaky, and he had to pause half way through his words. (Y/N) tried to throw out another 'no' but was swiftly cut off by him. "But I must make you hear me now and give me an answer, because I cannot go on like this any longer!"
This time, (Y/N) was quick to get a few words in after he paused to take a sharp inhale. "Sobachka, please. Please don't."
"I gave up being tailored. I gave up everything you didn't like. I'm happy I did. It's fine. And I waited, and I never complained because I... You know, I figured you'd love me, (Y/N)." Nikolai cried out. Silence rang through the gardens. (Y/N) didn't know what to say next - she didn't know what to say at all. To her surprise, Nikolai continued again, his voice growing weaker and more choked. "And I realize I'm not half good enough, and I'm not this great man and-"
"No! Yes, yes, yes you are. You're a great deal too good for me, and I'm so grateful to you, and I'm so proud of you, and I just... I don't see why I can't love you as you want me to. I don't know why." (Y/N) cut him off.
The look on Nikolai's face caused (Y/N) chest to blossom with pain. "You can't?" he quietly asked.
(Y/N) though of her words before she answered the blonde, wanting to make sure she said the right thing. "No. I can't. I can't change how I feel, and... It would be a lie to say I do when I don't. I'm so sorry, Sobachka. I'm so sorry, but I just can't help it."
"I can't love anyone else, (Y/N). I only love you." he mumbled.
"Sobachka, It would be a disaster if we married." (Y/N) tried to reason with Nikolai.
Nikolai grew defensive at her words. "It wouldn't be a disaster." Nikolai's tone of voice raised as he tried to make a point.
"We'd be miserable!"
"I'd be a perfect saint!" Nikolai's voiced continued to raise.
(Y/N) raised her voice to match his. "I can't! I can't! I've tried it and I failed."
"Why does everyone expect it?" Nikolai asked, trying to add his own point to the conversation.
"I can't." the shorter girl's voice broke as she mumbled.
"Then why does your family and my mother expect it? Why are you saying this? Say yes. Let's be happy together, (Y/N)!" Nikolai pleaded to her. Both Ravkans' eyes had begun to water.
(Y/N) moved closer to the boy, taking his hands in hers. "I can't say yes truly, so I'm not going to say it at all. And you will see that I'm right eventually, and you'll thank me for it." she hesitantly glanced up at the boy, trying to truly get her point across.
The two stood in silence - the only noises being the soft chirps of nearby birds and their heavy breathing. The air between them was thick enough that one of the kitchen knives could've cut through. They both took the time to try and gather their thoughts. (Y/N)'s loud breathing slowly became more raspy, telling Nikolai how broken this conversation was making her.
"I'd rather hang myself than realize this, (Y/N)." Nikolai muttered.
(Y/N)'s eyes widened. "Sobachka..."
"I would rather be dead." his voice started to raise once again.
"Sobachka, don't say that." (Y/N) begged. Nikolai turned away from the girl, and tried to walk away. His pace was slow, making known how this conversation was affecting him as well. "Sobachka!" she called out. (Y/N) hurriedly followed after him, pulling her skirt up a bit to gain on him. Reaching out, (Y/N) placed a hand on his shoulder, trying to stop his movements. "Listen, you'll find some lovely, accomplished person who will love you and adore you and, and they're gonna make a fine queen for your fine kingdom, but I wouldn't. Alright?"
Nikolai stopped causing (Y/N) to stumble forward. The two stood in front of each other, eyes watery and red, and emotions all over the place. "Yes you would, (Y/N)."
"Look at me. I'm homely and I'm awkward, and I'm odd."
"I love you, (Y/N)." Nikolai interjected.
"And you'd be ashamed of me." (Y/N) added.
Once again Nikolai spoke, "I love you, (Y/N)."
"And we would quarrel because we can't help it, even now." another watery-spoken comment came from (Y/N). "And I'd hate elegant society, you'd hate my scribbling, and we would be unhappy. And we'd wish we hadn't done it, and everything would be horrid." she cried out.
Nikolai looked down, silently taking in everything. "Is there anything more?"
"No. Nothing more."
"Alright." he quietly muttered.
Nikolai turned to walk away but was stopped by (Y/N)'s voice. "Except that..." Nikolai turned back around to face the girl. "Sobachka, I don't believe I will ever marry. I'm happy as I am, and I love my liberty too well to be in any hurry to give it up." her voice came out exhausted and mournful.
"I think you're wrong about that, (Y/N)." as the king spoke his hands reached down into his trouser pockets. Soft blonde curls strayed from his groomed hair and fell down in front of his forehead, matching their disheveled attitudes.
"No." she tried to add.
"I think you will marry, (Y/N). I think you'll find someone and love them. And you will live and die for them because that's your way, and you will." Nikolai's voice matched (Y/N)'s tired tone. "And I'll watch."
Nikolai turned away again, finally making his leave of the gardens. (Y/N) watched as he went, sobs racking through her body as the closet friend she had walked away from their shattered friendship.

You've not really addressed the gender question of Laurie and Jo. You lapsed into a rant about what a wonderful marriage they'd have
@darkcrowprincess seems to have expressed her point of view very well, which I simply agreed with, as she asked me. And no, I didn't go on a rant about Laurie and Jo having an awesome wedding, that literally came last in my response and I basically gave my thoughts that I had in mind on Little Woman from 1994.
