Probably When Wind Meets Grief And Divinity (E)? Forever Mine, Even Your Breath (E) is probably also pretty angsty, both are VERY dead dove do not eat so beware!

Oooh I dunno, I think maybeeee Its a Love Story (E)? I do think that ending is soooo cute! Oh and True Soul Bound To True Soul(T)!

I think I’ve gotten like one hate comment? Definitely have gotten some slightly annoying comments tho^^; readers pls, asking me to update does not make me go faster😭

Smut is what I like writing the most! I love writing kinky queer smut, no one’s cis or straight in my fics

I don’t really tend to? Not on my own at least, I’ve cowritten/rp’d/brain rotted a few but never finished or published anything.

Not that I know of but if anyone would ever want to do so id welcome it!

Oh man I have to pick???? I don’t think i can! But I definitely love writing xv the most so far!! Smth abt them gives me violent brainworms

Probably this one firefighter xiao/single mom chem major venti au i have, its plotted out pretty heavily and its super cute buuut i dunno modern aus aren’t my favorite to write and I have so many other ideas, but who knows! Maybe ill get brain worms for it eventually!

Id say prooobably my descriptions??? And world building?

Repetitiveness for sure, tho i think im getting better at not repeating constantly

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?

I think its a great idea!! I do it a bit in my fics, a word here and there with translations, and I think it helps like i dunno pull their culture in? Also I think sometimes the English version of certain words don’t have the same Impact yknow?

…One Direction… i had like the beginnings of a whole fantasy au written out at one point and i had a sorta shadow hunters au started too

Ooh thats a tough one!! I looove Benedictions of the New Moon (E) so much but i also love Treat Me Right (E) and Its A Love Story (E), those two are very much labors of love but i also think they’re really interesting!! Our Love Is Holy (E) is also one of my favs because it was the first time I wrote Venti the way I see her, a genderfluid transfemme! And it’s just so sappy even though its filthy

Soooo, is the rest of the season just going to be a “Let’s save the earth”-plot? Seems kinda generic, but okay. Episodes 9+10 of Season 7! Enjoy:

4 out of 5 of these are Qrow/Clover fanfics and of those, two of them are drabbles.

Do you respond to comments, why or why not?

Yes, always. My philosophy has always been that if someone took the time to comment, then I can take the time to show my appreciation for it. (It can also sometimes lead to friends!)

What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?

Ooo… Hm. I tend to like happy endings since I write mostly romance. So, Luck of the Draw probably wins by a mile, especially considering it was a vent fic.

Do you write crossovers? If so what is the craziest one you’ve ever written?

Yes, I have. Or, well, kind of? Not in so much that the characters of two shows tend to collide, but moreso AUs using that idea of the show.

Absolutely the Miraculous Ladybug/RWBY AU is the weirdest one I’ve got.

Though I DID at one point want to do a Voltron/RWBY story and actually use Voltron and RWBY characters together as a more traditional crossover. Never did get around to it.

Have you ever received hate on a fic?

Eeh, yes. Like twice on Ao3 and twice on fanfiction.net. While I can remember what all of them were about, the one that super stuck with me is the very first one I ever got – but that was because it was from my friends at the time and I was like 12 or 13?

Might be why I tend to be nervous posting stuff or showing friends my work.

Do you write smut? If so what kind?

I do on occasion. I used to a lot more consistently when I was younger but anymore I tend to find keeping the, ah, “groove” to be difficult. I have about 3 up and a LOT more in my folder that never got… *snorts* completed.

Have you ever had a fic stolen?

No, or at least, not outright.

Have you ever had a fic translated?

I don’t believe so.

Have you ever co-written a fic before?

Oh yeah, many times. Most of my Kingdom Hearts fanfiction days were all cowritten as well as some really old Final Fantasy 7 stories.

What’s your all time favorite ship?

Hurm, “all time” huh? God I always was terrible at this “ultimate favorite” thing.

Honestly, I don’t know. One of the ones that probably stuck with me the longest was Sora/Riku because Sora is my favorite KH character and Riku is, well.

…He’s pretty lol.

In general, I tend to gravitate towards the optimistic characters and then pair them with someone they have good chemistry with, which often is someone they are friends with – though, not always. I tend to like that emotional connection though as it tends to jive well with my own personal lifestyle (as in, I’m demisexual lol).

What’s a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?

Probably the Dragon AU idea I had for Taiqrow – Bound to the Sky with You. I always intended to cycle back to it, but with my waning motivation for RWBY, I don’t see it happening.

What are your writing strengths?

I’d say for the type of stories I write – single character pieces and romance are where I do my best work. I tend to favor a small cast; it’s easier to maintain and keep focus when I’m only juggling a handful of people. Character pieces tend to be things where I want to explore something about the character that I have an extreme interest in (I.E. Tai’s depression or Qrow’s alcoholism).

As for what works best in my writing itself, probably dialogue and paragraph flow. With the former, I mean I’m pretty confidant my dialogue for characters sounds natural, both for what the characters would potentially say in canon as well as just authentic to a conversation actual people might have. For the latter, I tend to think a lot about how and where to put my sentences and how to construct the breaks in the story so it all provides the best impact.

What are your writing weaknesses?

Long writing, 1000000%. I struggle very much with doing a piece that is longer than a chapter or two – partially because I tend to lose interest or want to jump into another project but mostly becaaaaaaause- I am slow as fucking molasses. I have never been good at ‘freeforming’ my writing. This is mainly because I put too much pressure on myself to get things right the first time or, sometimes, will spend minutes searching a thesaurus to find the right word. I’ve tried many recommended techniques to try and speed up my writing process and leave the more time-consuming stuff for the editing process, but the habit is what it is.

Probably also goes without saying that, since I’m good with smaller casts, of course larger casts are also a bit of an issue for me. It’s hard to balance like, nine people for example. Which, when I wrote One Piece fanfiction was…. Yeah, kind of an issue LOL.

I’m also a bit weirdly OCD about not reusing a certain word too many times or even a character’s name too many times. I don’t like things to sound repetitive; though ironically, it’s probably not even something most readers would even notice.

What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?

I mean. I did an entire fanfic with ASL in it soooo…

More seriously though? I think it’s fine, but research is often necessary if it’s going to be a huge staple for the story. Not only do language and culture go hand-in-hand, it’s important to think why the character knows certain languages and what environment they grew up in to learn it and how that might influence them in general.

Also, providing translations for what’s being said has to be carefully considered, because the best way to do it is in text, but it can be hard to do so and not break the flow of your writing.

What was the first fandom you ever wrote for?

Ha, don’t laugh. Dragonball Z. You will never find them though – I purged them back in high school.

What’s your favorite fic you’ve written?

Terribly, I love a lot of my fanfics and am proud of many. Also, I’m still terrible at picking favorites. But, okay – I Found My Heart in San Francisco is almost always the first Taiqrow fanfic I will recommend. I poured so much love and research into that piece and I really enjoyed how it came out, even if it could have been stronger. If the person isn’t looking for a romance piece though, I would probably recommend The Magical Number Seven, Plus or Minus One. That one is a Qrow-centric character piece, exploring his journey from young child to adult and the things he learns along the way thanks to the influence of certain people in his life.

Given the chance though, I would name half my folder just out of pride lol. It’s important to love what you do, and I do cherish the stuff I write.

How I felt about the Ducktales ending:

Okay first off, Ik I’m late! But oh well! XD

Anyway!!

I loved the finale, sorta! I loved the full circle moments, the callbacks! All the characters! Etc!

But what I didn’t love, was Webby being a clone!

And related to Scrooge, one of my friends explains it well, so you can go to Soph’s blog for that!

But like, this has nothing to do with shipping for me! Like, I didn’t think of that, not until someone brought it up!

The main thing that bothers me is that Webby was never real to begin with?!

Like, APRIL?! Yes you can have your opinion, but don’t bash on mine when I say that was a terrible move! Like, the fact she isn’t real is the main reason I’m upset!

Like, technically speaking, we never had a Webby to begin with if you really think about it!

Why couldn’t they have just kept Daisy’s nieces, as her actual neices, with nothing to do with Webby!

Not to mention a few things in the final weren’t fixed! Like Webby being upset with Lena, and not really getting a moment between Beakley and Webby.

I’m not mad, I’m just a bit disappointed I guess. Don’t get my wrong, I loved the finale, but the Webby parts of it made me sad for her, AND FOR HUEY!

Like, poor Huey guys! He really got played! Webby took over. I wanted a Webby season if there were to be a s4! Not like this! If no s4, don’t try to make the finale of Huey season, about Webby. Just don’t. It really wasn’t needed.

Anyway! Ik people will send me hate anons/ask becuz that’s how terrible this fandom is, so guess what, I’ll just delete those dang ask cuz I really don’t care about how much you hate me, cuz guess what, I bet you I hate me more then you hate me! So don’t wate your dang breaths on me, go somewhere else! Block me for all I care! I’m fed up with how this fandom is, and if you aren’t, ha...

Also! About the Debbigail thing, I honestly don’t know what to do! 😅

Part of me wants to be like my Voltron self, and ignore canon, at least that Webby twist. But gosh will you guys think I’m terrible for that. I wouldn’t ignore that ending if it wasn’t so...bad?

But the fact that it was done poorly, like s8, I might ignore it. Like in my fics l’ll warn people like, “In my fics, the Webby twist isn’t real”, ya know?

It’s my fanfics after all! You don’t have to read them! Tho tbh, it’s not like I’ve been writing much lately either!

I might just move on officially to writing for MHA! XD I’ll see!

Overall, I am gonna miss this show! It was my first fandom that I was involved in, and I first started writing fics becuz of it! And edits!

ASDFSDFGHG that’s soooo sweet, thank you so much for saying this, it really means the world to me <3 Oh, haha I’ve deleted most of my old videos so it wouldn’t hurt anyone’s eyes lmao T_T I’m still a bit nervous each time I’m uploading my vids to the day to be honest, even with so many subs rn, but at first I really didn’t have any supporters at all and my god I sucked at this, but I guess the love for my fav ships was stronger apparently haha. So I always get silly happy at each nice comment and feedback, so thank you seriously.

I really love love love vidding, Idk why but when smth comes out the way I wanted it’s a super addictive feeling for some reason, but many times I just looked at the final result and just threw it in the trash and started over and my god how many times SonyVegas crushed and didn’t autosave the project. I’m like Suga now, I’m pressing the save button each 2 minutes, cause don’t want to lose anything xD Being someone’s inspiration is truly an honor to me, I’ve got some messages that hit me too hard. Still feels weird bc I’m like “but do you know that I can’t even use photoshop tho, how do u like me now then?” lol.

I’m always drawn to talented characters, bc they amaze me, esp the humble ones. Like those who hate Haru or Lanaga just buffle me honestly. I understand that they’re pretty and talented and everything, but they’re also the sweetest and loveliest human beings, so like...??? And I adore those who don’t whine and get what they want. I just can’t help it. I’m a strong believer in the fact that "you can do anything if you put your mind to it”. So far it worked in real life so suck it lol.

People are also saying like Langa doesn’t deserve to win this and Haru doesn’t deserve to be in Olympics, like Langa didn’t snowboard since he was 2 and Haru wasn’t swimming every day since he was born. I’m like.. and you need to check in the mirror if your face is a shade of green. BTW I’ve also been in a professional sports for quite a long time since I was a little kid, ballroom dancing and adored it back then, and I did not get jealous at ppl who were talented than me, I was watching the tapes actually with a popcorn. And oh god those large competition events when you sit there for days and give it all, but then you’re like 296 out of 1000. Why was I proud instead of being sad? Idk xD It was fun.

So thanks for liking the vid, cause I even regretted uploading it a bit yesterday. Sadly everyone already knows that we lost this fandom to the middle schoolers being extra, so they do not care for anything each episode except for this ship, so that’s what I got for posting a just Langa vid:

I do not even know where this is going, but their fans are already pissing me off. I’m still trying hard for this to not affect my point of view about the ship, cause it’d be kinda unfair to them, but its getting harder each week istg.

And I maybe can’t take requests, but I love when some try to get me addicted on their ship with passion and great arguments. It happened to me with some nice ppl. But def not with agression and stupidity haha.

Cause apparently its one of the fandoms where you can’t NOT care for the main ship, even if you accept it for the only possible Langa ship (cause he doesn’t give a shit for anyone else, so like what’s the point), but it doesn’t do anything for you. I’m like... thanks for threatening. This will make me on board ASAP. Like it’s not the epitomy of love to me... I’m sorry? LMAO

Some anon even sent me a “you’re dense” (literally thats it) ask after that Reki ask. I was tempted to write smth like “oh I’m sorry, this is the most epic love story of my life and his character is the most complex in the world and he’s the best friend and the most inspiring human being that ever hit my screen. can I become undense now? xD”. But you know I do not know if they’d realise the sarcasm and my pride sadly never allowed me to sell my life values for a bunch of 12 years olds to love me lol

My sister always laughs and jokingly says “but you’d probably get much more subs if you made a vid about this or that, but at what price that would be lmao”. Cause yeah, I never could make myself vid smth I do not like, cause I love vidding and do not want it to be associated with things I do not like, plus it’ll most likely turn out ugly, if I do not care. My mom says that she can feel love I put in my shipping vids that’s why she loves them. I really don’t think she’s wrong. But that also kinda makes me an idiot technically, cause I’m not into many of the popular ships, and some popular animes I just find really basic.

Also I’m like 100% sure it ain’t happening, but even if they miraculously suck each other’s dicks while sitting on a skate board, I can still have the rights not to care at the end. Like did I sign some form where I’m obliged to love each and everyone canon gay ship even if it’s not what I like? Like gay is not the type of love in relationships. You can only care about his ass like Lan Zhan for example or you can only care about your ass. Like that’s different types of relationships, and whatever you like you like. Also do ppl know that you do not need to be blind to the bad sides of the characters in your ships? Or you just gonna be like “I suddenly can’t see” for forever.

So really thanks for such wonderful message and liking the video and for the boosts when I need them and not being an ass to me if I’m not being obsessed with smth, when you like it. (like I think we have different ship in bnha, right? but we’re still doing great tho, thanks for being an angel <3)

THAT’S RIGHT BITCH! It’s October and I am still watching and inexplicably blogging about Supernatural - a dinosaur of a television show that’s been on the air longer than most children I know have been alive.

I know I’m An Old because I don’t think kids these days understand the struggle it was watching television before streaming. We had to wait for episodes. Hell, I don’t think kids these days even really have to wait for seasons. I mean, Voltron premiered on Netflix in 2016, capped off their seasons at 13 episodes a piece and, oh yeah - aired seasons 5 - 8 all in 2018. Was I mad about that? No of course not. Do I also say phrases like “kids these days? Yes, so who even knows if what I think is relevant anymore.

Alright, so speaking of seasons, last time I looked at pilots and pilot seasons and how the streaming era is changing everything we know about starting a TV show. But once you’ve got your pilot down, now what?

Not this kind of pilot. Also, based on the prerequisites for demon possession, we’re all agreed this co-pilot’s like, an alcoholic, right?

There’s a rule in TV (sort of) that the first six episodes (some might argue the first season entirely) should be a kind of rehash of the pilot. The pilot sets up your premise and once you’ve got your pilot down, your job as a TV writer is to re-establish that premise over and over again. You’re building your world, you’re writing it’s rules. You’re setting up a template, a formula for how your episodes are gonna play out. This helps your audience get to know the characters, get familiar with your world, get comfortable spending time with them. Essentially, you’re getting your audience to trust the show that they’re going to be tuning in to for at least the next 20-some-odd episodes.

I’d also argue that this is important so that later, you can break that format later. I’m not saying you should break the trust your audience puts in you, and that’s probably a real fine line of distinction. But if you break your rules right, it can hit the audience with a big emotional sucker punch. Or, it can stand out as a real breakout, tentpole of an episode - I’m thinking specifically about Ghostfacers! In season 3, or Once More, With Feeling, from Buffy. Those episodes work, really work, because they deviate from the formula, but they only work because we know the formula so well. And these aren’t big changes to the way episodes are done, they’re just shifted ever so slightly that they felt new again..

So what is the premise of the first four episodes Supernatural? What’s the formula they set up for the rest of the series?

Brothers. I said it in my last post, I’ll say it again, Sam and Dean/Jensen Ackles and Jared Jared Padalecki are what makes this show. Full stop. I think we could have gotten 5 seasons out of a show starring two other dudes. I do not think this show could have gotten 15 seasons with two other dudes. So from the pilot through Phantom Traveler, we learn that Sam and Dean have a sh*tty home life - their mother was killed by some mysterious evil thing and their father raised them to be little demon-hunting child soldiers while they look for the killer. Oh yeah, and Sam’s girlfriend died the exact same way which we will never forget because Sam’s gonna have a dream about it almost every episode from here on out. We set up the tension between the brothers - that Sam got to go to college while Dean stayed with their dad like a good boi. We learn that everybody hates each other probably because they are deeply and unhealthily codependent love each other so damn much.

Next we get the basic rundown of the season arc:

Dad’s on a hunting trip and he hasn’t been home in a few days. The Winchester brothers are looking for him and by extension, looking for answers as to what killed their mom/Sam’s girlfriend. We also get the basic rundown of every episode: dad is a mysterious and elusive sonuvuabitch, so every episode they go about, say it with me now:

“The family business.” I would also accept “Killing as many evil sons of bitches as I possibly can,” but why can’t I find a gif for it?!?

Backtracking on this but you know what else gets hecking established with the Winchesters? Sam is the cute one with the people skills and the puppy dog face, so you’d naturally assume that he’s the soft one. No. Not the case. Dean is the Sofffft Boi. The SOFTest boi. Dean wants Sam to talk about his feelings, Dean wants Sam to not keep things bottled up, Dean is the one who desperately wants to keep a hold of his family and also is just deeply broken and traumatized on the inside and oh no, I told myself I wouldn’t do this but I did it anyway. Sorry not sorry. This watch, I’m really picking up on the fact that Dean is, weirdly, the Mom Friend in this first season. Like, he’s basically a Trailer-Trash-Teen-Pregnancy Mom who’ll give you spaghettios five nights a week and a shot of whiskey so you’ll quit yer bitchin’ and go to sleep faster, but he’s the Mom nonetheless. Later in this season and in other seasons, I think you even see him do his dumb-baby-best filling in as the Mom when John went off the deep end. Anyway, I have a lot of feelings and we don’t have time to unpack all of that so I’ll just move on.

RUDE.

Next we set up our Supernatural Bag of Holding - what’s in it? What are the mystical artifacts they use to kill those evil sons of bitches? First up is The Car. Damn, I am not a cars girl, but that 67 Chevy, it does things to me.

This car has some weird pavlovian trigger for me, it’s not NATURAL.

The journal.

John Winchester, you journal the way I imagine a psycho killer journals and I would just really appreciate it if you could be ANY MORE ORGANIZED THAN THIS.

The Trunk Full of Weapons - I love that in these first few episodes (and possibly the rest of the series???) they give this HELLA conspicuous look every time they open the trunk full of weapons. It’s hilarious EVERY TIME.

No, you’re not being obvious at ALL, guys.

The Fake ID’s - from credit cards to impersonating feds, these boys are not afraid to break the law to save some lives and I feel like that’s...that’s the theme of the show maybe? They’re here to save people and they’ll do what they have to to do that? In a world that clearly establishes a dark vs. light/good vs. evil dichotomy, the Winchester make it their job to live in a world of grey? Basically?

Next on the checklist for this first season of Supernatural - it’s spoopy. *Spoop mileage may vary.* I said it last time, but I’ll say it again: this first season aired at 9:00pm at night. That means it’s primetime stuff for the 18 - 25 year old crowd, but they don’t want to risk some 13 year old watching it and getting too scared before bed. 9:00pm is X Files time slots, Fringe time slots. 9:00pm says you’re gonna get something a little more gruesome and gory and shocking than at 8pm. 8pm is for Friends. Vampire Diaries aired at 8pm its first season. 9pm is for the real adult content (but not too adult because the audience is still mostly children).

SPOOP!

But yeah, let’s look at the real horror vibe that you get off of these first four episodes. We talked about La Llorona from the first episode - this is a legit ghost that they fight. The kids at the end that literally drag their mom to hell? Pretty spooky stuff. The Wendigo in episode 2 is a literal monster of the week and so for me personally, it’s not that scary, but it is a cannibal monster that eats human flesh. Dead in the Water has vibes from both Jaws and Friday the 13th. Everything from the lighting to the sound design let’s you know this is a horror show, or as horror as you can get on network television. Listen to the scenes just before somebody dies and you get a nice creepy “Come play with me” whisper coming out of the water. I’m a little spooked just thinking about it now. Yes I know I’m a chicken, and I’m OK WITH THAT. And if we go past my season 1 disc 1 into episode 5, Bloody Mary is STILL terrifying and I STILL watched that episode with half my face covered. That’s where I am these days. It’s 2020 and the world is a nightmare but imagining Bloody Mary creepin’ out in my mirror does not need to be a part of it.

SHE F*CKIN CLIMBS OUT OF THE MIRROR GUYS! I DIDN’T KNOW SHE COULD DO THAT!!!

Then we get Phantom Traveler and our very first case of black-eyed-demonic possession. Watching this episode now, it’s like watching someone’s home movie of their first steps as a baby. They’ve never even done an exorcism before guys! They have to read the exorcism rite out of the journal! It’s so cute!!! Let’s not think too hard about how they got that full sized bottle of holy water past TSA in a post-9/11 world. And try to ignore how poorly these special effects have aged - the smoke from the demon possession?? OMG! THIS EFFECT! I’m pretty sure I could make that effect with my first ever graphic design software on my, like, 2009 mac book pro. So cute and soooo good! I’m gonna leave that CG plane alone, they’re doing their best.

You want to know what my favorite established staple of Supernatural season 1 is? The extras. LOOKIT these guys -

Wendigo you have Cory Monteith who later goes on to star in Glee.

You have Alden Ehrenreich, Debatable Han Solo, doing a lot of face work with very little dialogue.

You have Gina Holden who is in SO. MANY. Spooky-type things! My personal favs are Blood Ties and Harper’s Island, but she’s in Fringe, she’s in the SAW franchise, she’s in the Final Destination franchise, she was in some deleted scenes on an episode of Teen Wolf! I LOVE seeing Gina Holden, anywhere she pops up.

And speaking of Harper’s Island, you’ve also got Callum Keith Rennie who played John Wakefield in Harper’s Island, a show that was A+ Great and I highly recommend if you like Agatha Christie and/or murder mysteries.

Honestly, Rennie looks like he’s about to murder a bitch in this episode of Supernatural, it is not a stretch to believe he’s a psycho killer.

Dead in the Water you’ve got Amy Acker, a regular in Joss Whedon and Whedon-adjacent type shows.

Good LORD, this wardrobe was SO 2000′s WB and it PAINED me.

And finally in Phantom Traveler, you have Jaime Ray Newman who also shows up in a lot of the shows that I like to watch. She was in Eureka, she was in Midnight Texas, both kind of terrible shows that I love because they are terrible, but she was ALSO in Bates Motel and Veronica Mars, which are generally considered to be more quality, so there’s that.

This still implies that they actually LIT scenes, which is a SURPRISE TO ME.

Point is, seeing these actors in Supernatural back in the early 2000’s felt like I was seeing the start of their careers. That may or may not have been the case, but as a viewer it was exciting to see them pop up again in other things.

So what about TV now? Do we still use those first 6 (sometimes more) episodes to re-establish the premise? Well, it certainly hasn’t gone away. Look at any network show that still produces 22 - 24 episodes a season and you’ll still see that the pilot season just keeps re-iterating the premise established in the pilot episode, specifically in anything that’s procedural - that’s you’re monster/problem-of-the-week shows. Think sitcoms like Brooklyn 99 or Superstore or dramedies like Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist. The reason being that these shows play in the traditional model of television - on a network, once a week. They are not releasing episodes all at one time or relying on their audiences to stream a whole season in one sitting. These are shows that still assume that someone out there is going to tune in or stumble across their show one night while they’re surfing channels (lol) and need to be told, no matter what episode they’ve just turned on, what the premise of the show is. They need to be formulaic so that people can pick it up anywhere at any time.

But what about shows that don’t follow this traditional model? I mentioned in my last post that seasons are getting shorter and shorter, so when you’re writing a show that only has (8) episodes instead of 22, how much time do you really want to spend establishing the premise? Because of these short seasons, you’re also dealing with shows that are more serialized and less procedural than their predecessors - meaning, you’re dealing with a show that focuses on a season long story (think Game of Thrones or Stranger Things where each episode is an important chapter that you can’t skip) vs. a procedural (think the shows I mentioned above or any cop drama really) where each episode is it’s own contained story, neatly wrapped up at the end. These are shows where you can skip an episode and still know where you are in the show no matter where you start or stop watching. Supernatural is a little bit of both - procedural with their monsters of the week AND serialized with a season long arc. We’ll talk more on that in a later post.

Not only are we getting shorter seasons, but we’re also dealing with shows that are not released over long periods of time. A few streaming channels, like Disney+ and HBO Max, make a deliberate point to slow-drip their seasons, but most streaming channels will release entire seasons in one shot. You don’t need to worry about your audience missing an episode because they have 24/7 access to all the episodes all at once. And for the most part, they’re designed to be binged. They start at full speed and they don’t slow down to keep driving you to the finale.

Do I think the procedural is ever going to go away? No. As much talk as there is about dropping the cop drama from TV all together, I think audiences still love a good mystery series. And you can’t just think of procedurals as cop dramas either - a procedural also covers most if not all sitcoms. New Girl, Letterkenny, Parks and Rec, Superstore - these all have a premise that doesn't change from week to week. They may make tiny shifts away from what they set up in the pilot, but by and large, you know what you’re getting into any time you turn on an episode. I think we as an audience still like that kind of familiarity. We may be seeing a bigger swing towards more serialized content, but that doesn't mean that the procedural is dead and gone.

So that’s what we’ve got for Supernatural - two dudes, driving around in a car full of spears and hand guns, killing bad guys. Some day, they may even find that father that’s missing. What could possibly go wrong? A lot. Stay tuned.

Voltron MOB

SO guess who got REALLLLLY hooked on the Voltron mob au? THIS GIRL! I need more of it to....so this is some of what I got for it, tell me what you think!

BACK STROY

Krolia is Shiro’s mom, he was born in Japan and his bio father is a dead beat who ran back to the states as soon as he hears Krolia was pregnant.

Korlia is queen and rises Shiro on her own, who needs a man right?

They move to the states when Shiro turns 5, and the Holte’s live across the street. Matt is Shiro's first friend and gives him the knock name ‘shiro’ instead of calling him Shirogana

A few months in the states Krolia decks a guy when he was trying to rob Tex….tex fell in love at first sight and asked her out. This is how they started dating.

Tex LOVE Shiro and treats him like his own from day one. He loves Shiro as much as he loves Krolia. Shiro takes to him right back.

Tex cries the first time Shiro calls him dad. He’s soooo happy.

When Shiro is 9 Keith is born. (Shiro goes by Shiro and didn’t want to change his name from Krolia's maiden name so that is why they have different last names). They are haft brothers but you would never be abler to tell by how they act

Shiro is Keith's favorite

When Keith is about 1 Krolia is just...gone… she gone and poofed. Tex is still around and takes care of both his boys though. Shiro is upset but, Tex is still his dad so….it’s not as bad as it could be.

All is well and good until Shiro is 18 and Keith is 9….Tex died in a fire. Now it’s just the boys

Shiro is fighting to keep Keith with him and be Keith's guardian. But…..he’s fresh out of high school and can’t get any kind of decent job to support them both. So after a month of fighting...they take Keith and both of them are heartbroken.

Shiro goes to Matt for help….and this is how Voltron mob is born. It was all created because Shiro needed an income to get his little brother back.

Keith was in foster care for just over a mouth but…. It wasn’t good. Keith didn’t have a good time there at all and HATED it so badly. He was abused….. Shiro and he both gained deep hate for the system because of this.

The mob grows bigger and faster than Matt and Shiro ever thought it could or would. There is no turning back.

HOW IT ALL WORKS

Bosses

The mob is broken into fractions, there are the “lions” Who lead everything and have color code names.

the Alten fraction run by Allura(pink lion), they have more of the public friendly jobs so to speak and is the main front for the bigger mob.

A tec fractions called Olkari run by Pide(green lion) that handles secretly and information and all that good stuff. Pidge knows all and basically just has a small bunch of people doing stock and bookkeeping for her. She is the one who douses the big stuff like hacking jobs for info.

The blades run by Keith(red lion) that covers security and muscle. They are the main fighting force and enforcers. He also douses dog training....

The legs run by Hunk (yellow lion) that covers the inner workings and more of the care staff. Like making sure there are doctors, foods for everyone, and stuff like that.

The Armor, run by Lance (blue lion) who tries everyone in gunmanship and makes sure the weapons stash is always filled and ready to go.

Then there is the requirement and management of the members run by Coran (orange lion) he makes sure everyone in the mob is following rules and getting there work done, they call themselves the mustaches because...well don’t ask it’s Coran. HE also handles things when someone passes...

Matt (brown lion) runs the everyday stuff along with the files of the members. He handles the grunts, The massive lower lever fractions that douse the everyday mob stuff. He calls his group the rebels. The rebels who do stock, inventory, selling and all that kind of stuff.

Then there is Shiro, the black lion. He runs the whole show and makes the choices of what is what going on the mob. He oversees everyone and makes sure everything stays in cheek.

The house

The Main house is 4 floors. The bottom floor is a common space for the whole mob to hang out in. 2nd floor is a workspace and spare rooms. The 3rd floor is restricted space for only the lion It’s another common space for just them. The 4th floor is their living space. To get to the 3rd floor you need a keycard and fingerprint.

The basement of the house is a makeshift ER More on this latter~

The Rules

Shiro has a set of rules that everyone must follow in his mob, and the rules have a very harsh penalty. Here are some of his rules that are unique to his mob

Never harm another member of the mob. You're family and family take care of each other. This extends to the family of every member as well.

Never harm anyone in your own family. If you harm them I have no reason to trust you will not harm mine.

NEVER under any cercomonads care any trouble near a place with children. (such as schools and parks) Kids are kids and should never have to see any mob actions. If you do see another mob breaking this rule, take care fo them away from the kids.

We are a family so act like it. Respect your elder and others around you no matter their rank.

No matter your fraction you listen to all lions. If a Lion tells you something you do it.

Never harm a child in any way shape or form. No exceptions.

To join a member must be invited by another member and approved by a lion.

There is a no harm/hit list. Follow it. Keep up to date on it.

Must attend a monthly or by cheek in with your Lion.

Every member has a mandatory 8 hours of ‘care hours’ a mouth where they must to yellow Lion for assignment.

(There can be more to come if you guys want. I have a LOT of little headcanons for this! AND A LOT OF ADASHI FOR IT. )

Did you go to college/university (if yes, what major)?

Yes! I just graduated in December 2019!!! I majored in music and play clarinet and piano :)

Do you believe in aliens?

I mean, not really? but if aliens show up I’m not gonna be surprised

Deserted island - 3 items you’ll bring (that’s not in a survival kit)?

not to stereotype myself as a religious maniac (because I’m not), but I’d bring my personal set of scriptures, hoodies (does that count as one item? If not, I pick my orange one), do friends count as items or is that too weird

When did you first start reading 19 days? Who is the character that you’d want to be real the most?

I’m pretty sure I started reading summer 2018. (Two years already???) The chapter that finally got me hooked was the tomato blood that got Mo Guan Shan rushing over to He Tian’s, and the “I don’t actually hate you that much!” line. I was curious what the heck was going on, so I looked in the previous chapter, and then after like two I went all the way back to the beginning, and here we are. Obsessed and in love. As far as who I’d want to be real.... probably Qiu? Like, I’d love to just see him on the street. Is that too shallow? He’s just such a cool dude. BUT the exact same reasoning applies for He Cheng... They’re just *clenches fist* y’know???

Where is your dream home?

Somewhere on the coast. Any rocky coast, though I’m picturing the Oregon Coast because I’ve been there a lot. Lots of big windows toward the coast side of the house so I could watch the ocean. Also near a forest area. There’s a fire pit near the house on the coast-side, not directly underneath the balcony on the second floor, but close. The room on the second floor with the balcony has all windows for walls and the ceiling - plants grow there and there are couches and a coffee table; no light fixtures, no outlets, just a room for enjoying the world. I know the question is where, not what, but I just got really into that.

Preferred way of getting around town?

Driving. Although I did enjoy taking the bus (before I got a car) when I got over the minor anxiety I get when I think about taking the bus.

- Holiday destination?

Oregon Coast. I’ve been there a lot, but I love it. Especially when I go with my family around my birthday (which is 90% of the time when we go).

Sitting at my desk trying to be creative (write, doodle, etc) or playing gigs. Making music with people you love is soooo rewarding and fun (also it’s nice to get paid to do that).

HOODIES. Beanies in close second.

I don’t think I have a favorite superhero. Never really got into superhero comics or movies or tv shows. Though I did write a set of poems about Superman and Batman for my first poetry class. It was about Batman calling Superman because he was depressed, and Batman ultimately realizing that recovery starts small.

My household has 7 chickens, but they’re not mine, and they’re not pets, they’re livestock, but I like to include them when people mention pets.

Basketball, and track and field in 6th grade. would have loved to continue with both but got caught up in music

professional musician. I just wanna gig all the time. But also I WOULD LOVE to be a car mechanic. I’ve wanted to be a mechanic for as long as I can remember, and still do.

4. Which has the most “you” in it, however you’d define that?

My first fic “Illusions and Illustrations” definitely has the most me in it. It was the first fic I ever wrote, which was back in 2016 (wow I can’t believe how much time has passed), and I pretty much projected all of my thoughts and feelings into Nathanael. I was going through a pretty hard time but this was the one thing that I looked forward to. People would write comments about how it gave them hope or made them happy and that allowed me to be more hopeful for myself, too. So long answer but yeah this fic will always have a special place in my heart.

9. Favorite character to write?

This is a tricky one. This may come as a surprise but I actually loved writing Keith and Lance in “i hate space” because I loved them in the show and they’re tricky characters to write truthfully (sometimes people just don’t write them in fics like they really are in the show, you know?) I especially loved writing Lance I wish I could write a klance fic but there are so many amazing ones that I don’t think I could do them justice lol

10. Favorite line or lines of dialogue that you’ve written.

I’m pretty fond of the line that Adam tells Keith in the last chapter of “i hate space”:

“When you think that you are unworthy of good things, that you are unworthy of the happiness that is presented to you in your life, it’s hard to notice when someone loves you. For so long you’ve convinced yourself that you’re alone in the darkness - how could anyone find you? But people do. They do, Keith, and they see the light that was there all along.”

If I could sum up what I try to get across in all of my stories I would use this piece of dialogue. It’s something that I try to remind myself, which I’m working on, and I want other people to know and believe this as well :)

12. What WIPs do you have going now? Are you excited about them?

Oh lordie. I have two fics that I haven’t finished and I feel so guilty about it all the time but I’ve just lost steam with miraculous ladybug and I haven’t really gotten as much feedback with them as I have with “i hate space” so it can be hard to find the motivation. I still really want to finish them though so hopefully I’ll get to do that.

I also want to write this glimmadora college au fic and I have it all planned out I just need to find the time to actually write it lol.

And maybe I’ll do another adashi fic for my boys who knows? ;)

13. Are there any things that might have happened in any of your stories, but you changed them the last minute?

Soooo yeah I was gonna let Raj and Henry live LOL. I was considering writing in how when Adam used all of that stored Altean energy to save all realities that their reality got changed slightly and Henry and Raj survived. But I thought that that would be kind of a cheap move so I decided against it and I’m happy with my decision even though I love my boys :’)

Also in the very early stages of writing I was going to have April and Hannah die during the attack like Henry and Raj did, but then I realized that they were in love and I loved them way too much the more I wrote about them that I couldn’t bear to kill them off so I let them get married and live in Keith’s cabin instead lol. Again I am very happy with my decision and it was very early on that I realized: there is no way that I can let them die.

14. Would you want to write canon for any of your fandoms (like be hired by show runner to do an episode)? Which one?

If I could fix some things about Voltron I would man, I would. I still enjoyed many aspects of the show but wow did they do so many characters dirty. They had me in the first half, not gonna lie, but then they thought that letting the amazing, strong female lead who fought so hard for peace and found a new family sacrifice herself for a confusing and some may say pointless reason, leaving her newly found love to grieve over her death forever instead of exploring the universe like he wanted to was a good idea - I was disappointed, to say the least.

Very late but here’s my personal journey with Adashi

One year ago I was at work, I was still just training and we had nothing to do atm so I was scrolling on twitter, so I followed the Voltron account and then is when I saw it, yes the famous tweet, I thought I saw wrong but no I clicked on it and it was a normal tweet like any other followed by all the sdcc panels tweets

I was soooo over the moon!!! I wanted to scream and shout and jump and everything!!! But I was at work so I silently screamed, I was sitting on a desk chair so I kept sliding my feet on the floor and just wiggling my legs because I was soooo excited!!!!

It wasn’t until I was home that I saw Shiro was trending and not no.8 or 5, but 1!!! And the trend said Worldwide!!! People, I’m from Mexico so trends are from here and of course massive popular things like GoT or Orange and stuff but I never saw voltron as more than a small specific niche of people so the idea that we were trending and enough for even me to see was so amazing

I swear I stayed on my bed, just watching it, feeling the moment just staring at that list and giving it a refresh and seeing Shiro, Shiro my fave character be so loved, I saw the power of representation since all this love was because of the Shiro announcement so I couldn’t believe it, I felt like I was part of something beautiful

I knew vld had a big LGTB audience and given what happen with Korrasami I wished them good luck, but to see it happen to my favorite character, it brought so much potential character development, know Shiro’s backstory, see how he is in another setting, now not just as a Garrison member, a paladin and a war survivor but now I’ll be able to see his soft side, his family and closed one side even more

I love Captain Holt in Brooklyn 99 but my favorite moments are when he shows affection for his husband, I felt I could get that and yeah I felt great for the LGTB community, they wouldn’t get a presumed, allegedly, out of show confirmed character, they and we would get a big on screen presence and Shiro is perfect for it, this big male man is also gay and in love and it changes nothing

I trusted these guys, I saw people said they promised rep and they were part of the group that made Korrasami so now a few years later here is the payoff, a beautiful on screen stablished and interesting relationship, I had my reservation when I hear they had broke up but I trusted these guys

Now onto a bit bit more personal, I have a nephew (by a cousin not my sis) and for what I see his parents are young people but I’ve never heard their posture on LGTB so it could go both ways, I lean more on acceptance, still both their parents (aka my nephew’s grandparents and one is my uncle) are very religious and one has outright said in MY home how WE shouldn’t go to starbucks because they supported the LGBT community, they also had issues with my nephew’s parents because when they left him with them they would teach my nephew their religion, a religion that is not the one they have so they had a big fight on how they tried to influence my little nephew behind his parents back or approval, my biggest fear was that they teached him to hate and there was no one to teach him otherwise and as I’m not a so close relative I didn’t know how to even start the subject

One day they stayed at my home and while me and my sis were asleep in the same room (since they used the other) my aunt went to our room to “spend time with us” by putting her religious music and reading the Bible to us, both of us were dead asleep so we barely even noticed but she did the same in the living room were my poor nephew was bored af, so my sis and I suggested we go to our room and watch something, all we could think of a kids show was Voltron, that was when only S2 was available, so now back to that day when Shiro was announced I thought, I have a perfect excuse to open the subject with him, or even if I’m not there he could see it (I didn’t know if he kept watching it but if he did then he could see it from the comfort of his home), and in Shiro! The leader, the guy you look up to, the guy who’s compassionate yet strong

I had my reservations since S3 to 6 were so wack but if he could just reach S7 that would be perfect, well now I’m glad to say he wasn’t interested in voltron and it was amusing enough to watch while he was with us but not enough to continue watching on his own and I’m so glad I never told him he should give it a try, now honestly I’m in square one and haven’t talked at all with him about the LGBT community but I also don’t know how, anyway that is another issue

Adashi was a whole new experience, I’ve had other ships but they are really popular so I had no issues finding content, with adashi we became a rare pair real fast after S7 dropped and then sank more with S8 and people leaving VLD pretty much for their own mental health

It was new for me because I had never experienced this new wave of people wanting to control and regulate fandom, I’ve never seen ship wars at this scale and so full of hate and honestly some pretty dumb reasons, I saw idiotic views from both sides of the war and that is what keeps me away from twitter

Still thanks to Adashi I saw the struggles the LGTB community had on rep since vld was compared and explained so detailed and understandable, I know more and understand better thanks to adashi

By searching for adashi meant learning on vld and I also understood why I never could fully love vld the way I did Avatar or Korra, I understand more about writing and tropes

More than that, having my ship become a rare pair meant that I had to step out my comfort zone, I began writing again, I researched to better my writing and my biggest accomplishment so far:

It’s always been an ambition of mine to learn how to draw but my lack of natural talent, my insecurities, lack of will and easiness in which I get desperate I feel I’m not progressing meant I never really truly tried but by being so thirsty for content (and having the correct time and place in my life) I began to try and all I have are two fanarts but those mean so much to me because they mean that I’ve TWICE defeated my insecurities and made something I’m proud of

I’ve met interesting people and feel even made new friends, I’ve reach out to people they way I’ve never done before and even used the skills I have to contribute with the adashiversary

That doesn’t mean I don’t get heartbroken all the time, adashi is bittersweet, we rose at the same moment we sank, thanks to being in the bottom is helping me rise but the pain and suffering wasn’t necessary and it was completely avoidable

It feels wierd, it’s like thanking your abusers for making you who you are but I think we all agree we would rather never have been abused, we all here are trying to make best of this truly awful reality

But I also appreciate so much all the strong adashi warriors that hadn’t given up and that keep me strong as well
