Moumen Al-Natour is amazing. Not only does he run a Palestinian youth organization that is doing great work in Gaza, but he's also one of the organizers of the 2019 anti-Hamas protests.

Even to criticize Hamas, in Gaza, means to be interrogated, and potentially jailed, tortured, and/or killed. To actively protest Hamas is many times more dangerous.

To have survived that work and continued doing it? I cannot imagine the emotional strength this dude has.

Here's what Center for Peace Communications (another great organization) has said about him:

So many Palestinians, in or from Palestine, are out there talking about what everyday life in Gaza is like. About Hamas, about Israel, about what they want and what they need, about their struggles and their interests and their families.

My goal, in finding people for you to follow and platform, is to help more voices get out of Gaza after years of suppression, and to help more outsiders (like me) connect with them.

People care SO MUCH about Palestine. But frequently, all there is to share is outrage, semi-accurate news, and more outrage. Frequently, we're not calling for the same things they are. We call for a ceasefire; they demand Hamas return the hostages and surrender. We call for Israel to let aid in; they say Israel is letting the aid in, but it's being stolen, and call for air drops rather than trucks. We call for Israel to stop fighting; they say they hope Israel takes Hamas out first.

We aren't centering their voices and experiences. We aren't lending our reach and our strength to their demands.

I want to make that possible.

Ala Mushtaha, the son of this imam, evidently said, “On Saturday December 30, our front door was busted down and twenty masked men barged in and took my father, a widely respected and deeply learned imam here in Gaza."

“One dragged him by his head and another grabbed him by his beard. My younger brother tried to intervene and reason with the kidnappers, but they beat him. I have a medical condition that makes it hard for me to breathe, so all I could do was watch as the horror unfolded.

“He wouldn’t preach what Hamas told him to. He refused to tell Gazans that violent resistance and obedience to Hamas, is the best way out of our current hell.”

ok this dude needs his own post honestly, he goes on to say so much intense stuff about their lives.

This is what I'm talking about. This is effective activism. Imagine what all these people could do if they had the entire global pro-Palestinian movement behind them.

Al-Natour posts a fair amount of political commentary.

The "we want to live" hashtag is a callback to the amazing "We Want To Live" protests he co-organized against Hamas, in Gaza in 2019, and again in the summer of 2023. Activist Hamida Howidzy (who will also be getting a separate post) wrote about them in Newsweek recently.

Some things he posts in Arabic and then in English. Some of his posts are in Arabic only. In the thread above, he actually posted a couple more that were just in Arabic, presumably aimed at Arabic-language comments.

What I like about Twitter is that you can whack the "translate post" button and get a pretty decent translation most of the time.

Translation:

"I saw all the responses... What is wrong and forbidden in reuniting the West Bank, Gaza and Jerusalem through elections in which the people choose who will represent them??!?? Why are all the responses offensive...a collaborator, a traitor, and contain insults that indicate that whoever wrote them needs restructuring?! What prevents us, after ending the war, from returning our choice and choice to the Palestinian people?!+

"Everyone wrote that I opened??!! how did you know???!! Stopping the war is the most important thing now... Whoever sees the condition of the people and feels all this is easy for him does not have humanity, and is not a human being... Whoever, after the destruction of more than 80% of Gaza and the North, and still writing in a way that wants the war to continue while he lives abroad, should reconsider. He accepted to live the same suffering!++"

Note: I copied the "I opened" bit and threw it into Google Translate separately, because that cannot be right. It still insisted that it meant "I opened".... but it gave me the transliterated words, "ani fatah."

Everyone wrote that he's Fatah -- the party that runs the West Bank, the one Hamas violently kicked out of Gaza in 2007-08.

"The end of my speech... I know... whoever is not with you is a traitor and an agent... shameful... by God, by God, by God... there will be an account[ing] for all of this talk... so that you understand the word agent... and the account will be through a government of law... It is clear that there are many who benefit from the poverty and destruction of Gaza, and they must be held accountable according to the law.

"Have mercy on people with your tongues"

The comment on that one is noteworthy:

"Yes, whoever is not with the resistance is indeed a traitor, and those who must be held accountable are the traitors, agents, hypocrites, liars, and racists who slander the resistance and who want to hold it accountable only because it fights the enemy of humanity and defends truth and the oppressed. If you want to apply the law, apply it to yourselves first."

It highlights how much of what we hear in the West is Hamas propaganda. That's a whole other post too. But Hamas claims to be "the resistance," to "defend truth and the oppressed," while arresting people who refuse to preach its propaganda. While jailing and torturing someone 20 times for organizing a protest.

Which are the exact tactics that make it so easy for their propaganda to reach us . And so hard for us to even know that there has been an entire protest movement against Hamas in Gaza, much less to support its activists.

I'll just cut and paste the translations from his most recent thread, above. All emphasis is mine:

"When demonstrations took place in Israel demanding that Netanyahu stop the war and free the hostages, Al Jazeera and Hamas considered it a victory and an achievement, and that the Israeli government was under pressure. But what is striking is that these demonstrations were not suppressed. They were secured. The hostage issue and public pressure were dealt with professionally.

"The demonstrations that took place in Gaza demanding an end to the war and the return of the displaced...they were classified as suspicious [by Al Jazeera etc] ...even though the displaced Israeli lives in a 5-star hotel and has the privileges of the displaced, and when the Palestinian displaced in Gaza receives help, he needs a mediator, and if he wants a tent, he needs leadership intervention, and if he does not have the mediator And the intervention wants to scratch his pocket..+++

"Why did Israel allow demonstrations and look pressured, always trying to contain everything... while we have a displaced person lost, homeless, and no one is trying to contain him, and when he talks, they call him a fifth column???"

Last month, he posted about pregnancy in wartime. Note the cost of the tent later in this thread! Numerous Palestinians have posted about humanitarian aid getting stolen -- by Hamas, by NGOs, by others -- and sold on the black market. Food and tents especially get mentioned a lot. Everyone mentions the tents are being sold for more than (the equivalent of) $700, even though they were supposed to be free.

Travis Kelce x Reader

A/N: I was gonna wait till this got more notes, but I figured since I made ya'll wait so long for the last one I should hurry up and get this one out. <3

You groaned as a huge amount of pain shot threw your leg. It was completely dark when you woke, up and it took you a minute to figure out where you were. Since you didn't recognize the room when you woke up.

After remembering you were staying at Travis's, you turned on the lamp and got ready to find him. You couldn't remember anything past them taking you in for surgery and you were worried about what you might have said while being loopy on the drugs.

Your head hurt, and you could still tell whatever they gave you was still affecting you.

You grabbed your crutches that were resting on the ground, next to the bed and started to make your way to the kitchen.

You made it down the hall and into the kitchen, but when you didn't see Travis you continued onto the living room. You could now hear voices coming from there, as you hesitated thinking about just returning to your room.

You decided it was best to just go see Travis and entered the living room. You were surprised to see Patrick Mahomes and his wife Brittany sitting in the living room, with their little girl.

Patrick and Brittany saw you first, since they were facing where you entered from. Travis had his back to you, but turned when he realized that you had entered.

He immediately got of the couch and made his way over to you faster than your brain could process. One second you swear he was on the couch and the next he was right by your side. "What are you doing up?" He asked worriedly, checking you over to make sure everything was okay. "You should be resting in bed."

"I'm fine, but I didn't mean to interrupt I was just coming to find you." You gave Patrick and Brittany a sheepish wave, offering them a small smile.

Patrick spoke up, "You're not interrupting. We actually came here to see how you were doing. Travis told us about what happened, so we just wanted to stop by and see if you needed anything" Patrick explained.

You resisted the urge to raise your eyebrow and look at them suspiciously, instead opting for another small smile. "You guys didn't have to do that." You said, as you made your way to the couch, tired of standing on one leg.

You didn't really understand why they were here. It wasn't like you were friends with either of them. Yea, you knew them due to being Patricks assistant but you never had more than a few conversation with them.

You liked Patrick, since he was a pretty down to earth guy. Brittany on the other hand wasn't your favorite. She always seemed stuck up and acted like she was better than you.

"Nonsense." Brittany cooed, acting as if you were silly for saying they didn't have to come. "We also brought you a get well soon basket. I think Travis put it in the kitchen."

"Oh, thanks that really sweet of you." You didn't know what to think of them acting this way and were starting to think that maybe you were dreaming all of this. Maybe the drugs were affecting you more than you thought.

Their daughter, Sterling, was starting to get antsy clearly bored of being here. "Well we better get going, this ones ready for bed." Patrick pointed to his daughter.

They both gave you a quick hug, before saying their good byes and leaving. "That was weird." You mumbled to yourself, not wanting Travis to hear considering he was friends with them and did actually like them.

"How'd you sleep?" Travis asked, coming back into the room after walking the Mahomes family out.

"Good, I swear your bed is like the comfiest bed in the world." He laughed, heading into the kitchen.

"Are you hungry? I ordered food." He asked from the kitchen.

"Sure, what did you get?"

"Well theres pizza, Chinese, Mexican, and Italian." Travis said listing off everything you requested earlier.

"Oo, my favorites." You cheered, grabbing your crutches and making your way into the kitchen.

"Well, I would hope so considering you requested all of this." He grabbed a two plates from his cabinet and then two water glasses.

Your eyes widened, "I asked for all of this?"

"Yes," he laughed, just thinking about it. "You claimed you were starving and hadn't eaten in like 50 million years, so you need all this food. Then when I left you alone to order it you passed out."

You groaned, burying your face in your hands. "On a scale of 1 to 10 how embarrassing was I?" You asked, not even sure if you wanted to know.

"Maybe like a 4." You released a huge breath, happy with that number. "You weren't embarrassing, just funny."

You told Travis what you wanted as he loaded it onto a plate and heated it up in a microwave. He then did the same and put his plate in after yours was done warming up.

You waited for him by his dining room table, which happened to have the get better basket Brittany and Patrick brought over. You couldn't resist and started looking to see what put in there.

There was a blanket, tea, candles, fluffy socks, a few different snacks, and a Louis Vuitton bag that was worth at least two thousand dollars.

Travis came into the room and placed down your guy's plates. "Who puts a 2000 dollar purse in a get well basket?" You ask, holding it up for him to see.

"Apparently Brittany." He commented, also thinking it was a little outrageous.

"I can't accept this, I'll have to return it to her." You shook your head, dropping the purse in the basket. That purse could cover like 3 months rent for you.

Travis helped you into your chair and you guys started to dig in. "How's your knee?"

"It hurts." You answered truthfully.

"Do you want your pain medication? The doctor said we should stay on top of them, to keep your pain to a minimum." Travis said getting ready to stand up and grab them.

"No, I don't want them. I'm not planning on taking them." Travis was surprised. "I just don't want to get addicted to them or anything. You always hear those stories about people taking them and getting addicted to them." You rambled on. It was partially the truth, but you decided to leave out the fact that addiction ran through your family.

Your father was an alcoholic, while your mother was an drug addict. You did drink, but you were always pretty careful about how much you consumed and you'd never once tried anything drug related.

"Ok, it's your choice but if you decided you want them let me know."

"I don't" You assured. You guys ate in silence for a bit before you spoke up, "So I was thinking I could head home tomorrow and get out of your hair." Travis frowned, "or tonight it that would be better." You offered, worried that maybe he didn't want you here another night.

"How are you gonna drive home?"

"In my car."

"Its your right leg."

"I'm aware, but I'm pretty sure I can manage to drive. I'm not walking on it or anything." You didn't see why he was making a big deal about this.

"and how are you going to get up 3 flights of stairs? What happens if you fall and no ones there to help you? How are you going to go grocery shopping? How are you going to do basic things, while you can't walk?" Travis asked, seeming to grow more irritated with each question.

"I don't know, but I'll figure it out."

"Just stay here, until you can walk."

"That's 3 weeks, you start practice in one so I'll be here alone anyways."

"I already asked Maria to stay with you during the day, incase you need anything once practice starts up."

"I don't want to over stay my welcome." You were already so grateful for everything he's done and the last thing you wanted to do was become a burden.

"You're not. You're here almost all the time anyways when you are working, so what's the difference?" He asked.

"The difference is that I'd basically be living here."

He sighed, knowing how stubborn you were. "Just think about it. You can decide tomorrow, but I'll sleep better knowing you're here and not laying on your floor at home not able to get up."

"Fine, I'll think about it." You begrudgingly agreed.

JJ instantly smirks the second Emily walks through the doors. Tara snickers behind her coffee cup.

"Yay" JJ cheers, shaking her fists. "You got laid!"

Emily blanks. "I-What." She stammers. She came in fully prepared to let them all have it for sending her on a needless errand but JJ catches her extremely off guard.

"So who's the guy?" Tara nudges her. "Or girl." She adds as an afterthought.

Dave looks smug as he walks up before Prentiss could reply. Luke, Matt and Spencer are with him, the latter already having the case file, and they're looking at their boss with a mixture of disgust and embarrassment. Emily glances over the faces of the team, wondering how exactly she's gonna tell them that not only has she found their old boss but also fucked him two hours ago, and rolls her eyes.

"Allora come sta?" (So, How is he?) Dave asks, switching to Italian. His demeanour is all smug and giddy.

Emily narrows her eyes while the rest of them look between them like they're watching a tennis match. "Sai?" (You Know?)

"Sí" Dave puts a hand on her shoulder. "Chi pensi che gli abbia dato il tuo numero?" (Who do you think gave him your number?)

Emily tries to be angry but her face gives her away when she smiles and bows her head. "Thank you" She says in return. The team is all waiting eagerly for the gossip and left severely disappointed when she orders them to the conference room.

Aaron fairs no better from the questions when he walks into his new house and finds his son standing at the door. Jack exclaims at the sight of him, throwing his hands up in the air.

"Where have you been?" Jack huffs.

Aaron smirks in amusement. "Uh, I'm the dad here." He tells him, walking off into the house. "Non of your business" He calls over his shoulder before whistling a tune to himself.

Jack watches him go with a face on him, confused. Then realisation settles in.

"Oh gross" He yells, running off. "Dad you could've just said you were with Emily. God." He hollers, running away.

His father laughs at his disgust, picking an apple out of the fruit bowl and settles down, casting his mind to what Emily might be doing right now.

"Who is it? Who is it? Who is it?" Penelope repeats incessantly through the laptop as the Jet zooms in the air. Emily just glares at the Laptop without saying a word. "Rossi, who is it?" Penelope changes her tune, turning to the man.

Dave smirks at Emily, enough to set her on edge, and she shakes her head minutely at him. Thankfully, he listens for once. "Sorry Garcia, I am not at liberty to say."

The girls groan while the boys sigh in relief. It's one thing hearing about the sex lives of the age female team members but your boss too? No thank you.

After the case, they go out for coffee and they talk. Emily tells him everything he's missed with the team, including how Derek's expecting another kid with Savannah and how Spencer got arrested and she grills him on how the hell he would have navigated that. Aaron tells her everything about Jack and their life in Colorado, wincing a little when some of the harder bits came up.

It was essentially the culmination of everything they spoke about online, sans Emily's disguised stories and white lies and Aaron's evasiveness about how the hell he got in those situations.

They're on the same page when one of them mentions that they're done dancing around, that they want this. They move fast, as much as they can when one of them is jetting off over the country every other week, and solidly dating. She comes to his home three weeks into the arrangement and Jack bounces around like a little kid again, calling her 'Miss Emily' and welcomes her enthusiastically. Aaron chooses wisely not to tell Emily that Jack spent 45 minutes trying to look presentable for her.

He hugs her with both, fully functional, arms tightly. "Thank you" He whispers in her ear, making her hug the boy now taller than her tighter. "For making him Aaron again." Jack says, pulling away. Emily couldn't reply save for a tight smile. Aaron snakes up next to them and steals her away from his son.

The team all notice the skip in her step, the lighter paperwork and the glow in her eyes. They speculate who it is, with a betting pool of government agents names appearing, and press Rossi for information on the regular. Spencer overhears a phone call one night on the way back to the hotel room two months in as Emily stands at the vending machine and accidentally eavesdrops.

He grows interested - he has money on a agent from Counter-Terrorism that Emily has had tension with for years - and stays behind the doorway.

"No" Emily shakes her head, fiddling with coins in her hands. "Don't be ridiculous. No-That was Derek's fault not mine." She protests. "He's the one who had the prank war with Spence, remember?"

Spencer's interest piques here and he moves closer. So it must be someone who was here 7 years ago during him and Morgan's prank war. That cuts out his guess but leaves Tara's, Penelope's and Luke's in.

How interesting.

Emily speaks again and he jumps. "Give Jack a kiss for me" Emily says lowly into the phone. Spencer's eyes go wide. "Yes, I know he's 16, Whats your point?" She laughs, crouching for her coca-cola. "I love you too" She says fondly. "I'll call you after the case to debrief, Hotch" She says his name mockingly but it's full of adoration. Spencer's jaw is slack and his eyes are wide as she turns to spot him.

Emily jumps about a foot in the air, spilling coke and dropping her phone. "Spencer!" She exclaims. Her eyes are equally as wide. "How long-?"

"Y-you found Hotch?" Spencer squeaks out, a spark of anger in his chest.

She sighs. "Yes- Look. Don't tell the others." She begs. "He wanted me to keep it a secret, wanted us to be together before he reveals himself to the rest of you."

"You're together?" He asks, the same slow smile falling into his face that occurs whenever there's great news. Emily sighs again and bites her lip, nodding.

"It's still new" She confesses. "No one knows. Only Dave, please"

"I won't." Spencer cuts her off, shaking his head. "I'm happy for you, Emily" He says quietly. She smiles, relived. "Can he come home soon?" He asks.

Now she laughs. "Oh buddy" She pats him on the back. "He's closer than you think." She says coyly. "Besides, you're stuck with me now."

Spencer mock groans so she punches his arm. They hug it out with another promise not to tell before disappearing into their rooms for the night.

It only takes about another month for the team to find out anyway.

That's because when they land from yet another case, Penelope is standing at the elevators with a shell shocked look on her face, staring right at Emily. JJ begins the questioning but Penelope just points at Emily and then to her office and then back at Emily. They all walk into the bullpen, staring up at the office in confusion.

Emily's face breaks into a smile when the figure of a man can be seen at her desk. Spencer sees him next and gasps excitedly while Dave just laughs. JJ clicks onto it first and moves her gaze to Emily. Matt didn't work under Hotch, joining after Emily was made Unit Chief, but knew off him and he nudged Tara, who was the next to realise what's happened and was staring at her friend. Luke leant into Garcia to ask what was going on, only to earn a sharp rebuttal and a weak insult about how she'll never gossip with him back.

Aaron looks up out of the window to spot the team, and he smiled broadly. He left his old office quickly, meeting them halfway.

"Superman returns from his fortress of solitude!" Dave quips as he reaches them.

"Hi" Aaron smiles, looking straight at Emily.

Before anyone can react, he's pulling her to him and kissing her in front of everyone.

She got hurt on this case, a UNSUB knocked her unconscious and nicked her neck with a knife. She hadn't needed stitches or anything, it was not even a lot of blood. But the second Dave told him the update, figuring he needed to know, Aaron was losing his mind. When Emily finally texted him that they had landed, he practically flew out of the door and to his old workspace on autopilot.

It was only when the old security guard greeted him by name that Aaron had realised what he had done so he gingerly made his way up and hid away from the stares of his old subordinates in his old office.

When they pull apart, she's blushing and biting her lip. He scans their faces in amusement : Dave's smug and proud, Spencer is surprised, JJ and Tara look delighted and surprised too, Luke is grinning and Matt is laughing.

Penelope looks two milliseconds away from losing her ever loving shit.

"So, does this mean you're back?" JJ begins, slyly. She smirks at Emily, who turns her head to hide in his neck.

Aaron chuckles, pulling away from her to officially greet everyone. "To the FBI? No" He confirms. "To Virginia? Yes." He pulls Spencer into a hug, smiling when it goes on longer than expected, kisses JJ and Penelope on the cheek and nods when JJ asks is Jack's home too. He greets the others amicably, not having a closer relationship with them and shakes Matt's hand politely.

"So how did-" Penelope bounces, swirling her finger between the two of them. "What happen- I always knew you two had the hots for each other" She finishes on, overjoyed.

Emily ducked her head. "Long story." She said simply, making her partner chuckle. "We're all going out for drinks-" She begins as his arm returns to her waist.

"YES. YES. THIS IS HAPPENING. LETS GO" Penelope finally loses it, making them all break. She whips out her phone. "I'm calling Morgan, He's coming too." She announces, darting off to phone the man.

"How was the case?" Aaron asked as Emily directs them to her office. The team all move to leave, all knowing that not a lot of work will be done. She shuts the door behind her, as they all exit to the bar, and closes the blinds, flipping off Tara's cheeky grin at the last second. Their exit leaves the BAU empty, save for those two.

He sits in front of the desk, feeling weird, as she leans against it.

Emily sucks in a breath. "Oh, I think my PenPal might be getting told all about that later" She shrugs but smirks when he chuckles.

"I'm sure Rocket is looking forward to it, Phoenix" He retorts back.

Emily hums in response and leans down for another kiss. "Now I'm sure someone said something about me being bent over this desk." She involuntarily squeals as he moves quicker than she's ever seen him.

It takes about 2 more months before she's fully moved in with him and Jack, who's very glad she's back around and that she makes his dad happy. It happens one morning as he wakes up to find her and Jack sitting in their pyjamas in the living room, playing on the gaming system.  He quickly realised that he wanted every morning like this, with her here. And so he asks her to move in straight away.

"Aaron, Honey" Emily giggles, pausing the game. "All my clothes are here and Sergio's stuff is in the corner" She points. Jack snickers at him, shaking his head. "I've already moved in basically." She tells him softly, pecking his lips. He's left dumbfounded and wondering how two years of retirement left him that rusty.

It takes another 3, almost a year to the day Phoenix first messaged Rocket, before they're married.

He proposes on her birthday in October and they're married in Dave's backyard the week before Christmas. They've wasted enough time and refuse to let more slip by. The team is all there, including Derek.  Penelope wrangles Sergio in a bow tie and clings onto him so he doesn't attack Aaron during the wedding. Dave is the officiant, Jack's the best man and JJ's the maid of honour, Derek's a groomsmen with Tara being the other bridesmaid. They employ Jess' daughter Courtney as the flower girl and Hank as the ring bearer with Michael and Henry taking their roles as security very seriously. Spencer reads out a speech he's prepared and Luke and Matt act as waiters for the rest of them due to vague threats from Penelope. The wind perks up just as they're about to kiss for the first time as Husband and Wife, making Emily laugh and blow a raspberry to the sky.

It's small and messy but it's them and there's nothing they would trade it for.

At the end of the night, Penelope unveils one last surprise that has Emily in tears.

A painting of a Phoenix rising from the ashes below her, with a rocket in the distance heading towards her.  It's silly and doesn't make sense but hey, if that wasn't their story.

Aaron laughs and states he should have known Penelope would dig to find out while Emily cries. They hang it in their bedroom without a second thought and spend an hour pointing out the little details.

When the novelty of the picture is over, Emily collapses in his arms leaning her back against his torso with a loud, happy sigh. "God" She breathes, staring at the painting. "Who would've though we'd end up here? All thanks to a stupid Trauma Dump website."

Aaron hums, wrapping his arms around her. "Yeah" He agrees absentmindedly. "I love you, Phoenix." He mumbles in her ear.

Emily smiles and cranes her neck to stare up at him. "I love you, Rocket." She replies, smiling broadly.

He leans down and kisses her softly, swallowing anything else she had to say. Outside, The wind brushes gently before ceasing at all and downstairs, Sergio pulls Emily's laptop down by its charging cable. Jack scolds him and scoops him up to leave the house entirely. Emily and Aaron, Phoenix and Rocket, whatever you want to call them are entirely alone but together.

All thanks to some meddling from a force of nature, a 16yr old boy, a menacing cat and a nosy work colleague who's more of a father.

And of course, a stupid website.

Also, they had a funeral for Derek but didn't invite Cora, his sisters... they didn't even tell Isaac that Allison is alive (you know, Allison, your boyfriend. I know you kinda forgot him even when you were dying but if you remember everything then Isaac is supposed to be in that everything too). They didn't even call Stiles!

35) Why does it seem that when the Sheriff was talking about the jeep he was actually talking about Stiles and Derek (or sterek as a ship/concept). No matter what, we sterek shipper will stand. Always and forever.

Final thoughts

I thought worse but at the same time it felt rush. I wanted to see more Eli and Malia bonding. Also the way the Sheriff cares about Eli it seems more like a grandfather to a grandson (if you know what I mean) but we couldn't really see that. And can we talk about Derek and Noah (John for the friends)'s partnership? Or how Derek speaks about Stiles with Noah as he's still in touch with him??

And where is Eli come from anyway?! Are we finally normalize mpreg?

Final final thoughts

I didn't like this movie. It was like a big bad Scallison fanfiction found on wattpad (ao3 is better). A lot of things were forgotten and other changed.

BUT

There's always a but (as in the Derek's "death" *wink wink*).

This movie gave us a lot of sterek material.

I'm afraid of what Jeff Davis' mind could possibly come with for another movie, probably more about Eli's past which means a mother for sure (unfortunately the world isn't ready for mpreg yet I'm afraid) and less sterek material. But at the same time I want to see Derek alive again, I want to see how they would manage with two true alpha and how Derek and Eli's relationship would evolve.

I want a lot of things to see but I'm afraid they won't give me any of them, so I can't decide either I want another movie or not.

5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?

Always. Always. Who doesn't? They literally make me so happy, they're all so nice and kind!

6. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

Definitely All My Friends Are Gonna Be Strangers, since it's set right after Halloween 1981 and it's from Remus' POV.

7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

Either I've Just Seen A Face or I Saw Her Standing There. They're both get-together fics so I'm sure James and Lily were rather happy about that.

8. Do you get hate on fics?

No, thankfully!

9. Do you write smut. If so what kind?

I don't, but I'd love to. I just don't feel confident enough at the moment so I suppose I'll wait until I have more fics under my belt.

10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?

No, I even struggle writing outside of canon so crossovers are out of the questions (for me, at least).

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Not that I know of and I'd be surprised if that happened. I'd be a bit flattered, though, not gonna lie (I absolutely don't condone it, of course).

12. Have you ever had a fic translated?

No, but I've considered translating some of mine in Italian (my mother tongue). However, I physically cringe if I really think about it because I don't think I can write fiction in my mother tongue. It feels foreign to me (lol). It doesn't come naturally.

13. Have you ever cowritten a fic before?

Nope. I'd love to, though!

14. What's your all-time favourite ship?

Honestly I have no idea, because I've been in so many fandoms in my 27 years of life but I guess Jily. It's weird to think about it because I've been a HP fan since I was a kid, and I had always been fascinated by the Marauders but for some reason I never thought about reading fics about them, and I've created stories in my mind set in the HP world but with different ships or OCs, and their dynamics were exactly like James and Lily's (enemies to lovers, soldiers in the war and so on). It's like my subconscious was trying to tell me something. I got into Jily fairly recently, in late 2021 and usually I hyperfixate on a fandom or ship for 5-6 months max, but i'ts been over two years and I'm still as obsessed with them if not more. Jily has been the ship I've been looking for my whole life.

15. What's a WIP you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?

It's either my 7th year get-together canon fic I'm Looking Through You (I've posted the first of three snippets in August 2022 and I haven't worked on it since March) because it has angst and canon-typical violence and they're exhausting to write, and I have written maybe 3k but I expect it to be at least 12k and I've never written anything over 4k and I don't think I'm capable; that, or my Muggle AU All Things Must Pass, which is sad as fuck because James dies in it and I have only written two scenes and I wept like a baby (also, this is supposed to be a long one too, 10k at least, and I don't think my heart can take it right now).

16. What are your writing strengths?

Dialogue, I think. I love writing it so much, I'm usually very proud of it and I've gotten a few compliments about it.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

Literally everything else. I don't know how to write descriptions, they feel forced most of the time and the few times that I write something I like rest assured that it took me hours to make it work.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?

That's technically my whole thing since I'm a native Italian speaker lol; I also speak French and Spanish and when they randomly appear in a fic, I can tell when they're written by someone who isn't fluent. I don't mind it though. I'd probably feel comfortable writing dialogue only in Italian, but I suppose I could try with the other two languages.

19. First fandom you wrote for?

Either The Chronicles of Narnia in 2008 or something, or One Direction in 2011 (I hate myself for it now, because I don't like fics about real people).

20. Favourite fic you've ever written?

Ah, this is hard! Should I say Rain? I'm really proud of it because it was a real challenge, but I have a soft spot for my Blackevans friendship one-shot Do You Want To Know A Secret? and I've wanted to write a sequel to that for the longest time.

It's a toss up between right next to the heart of me and somebody's hands who felt like mine. I think the first one is technically the sharper angst, but it at least has a sequel in the works to make things a little better. The second one is a softer whump, but open-ended and with no follow up planned.

This is one I try very very hard to edit out, but I am literally the worst at writing my thoughts down out-of-order or forgetting to finish a thought entirely. Oh, and dialogue. It either comes naturally or I am forging that garbage with a hammer.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?

I think there is a time for using another language in-text and a time when simply implying the other language or leaning on the perspective of a character who doesn't speak the other language is the correct decision.

That said I am currently writing a story about Dani and Jamie which involves some Spanish dialogue, but I feel fairly good about it because 1) when in doubt, I can (and do) just quote my mom, 2) if it sounds too simplified / non-colloquial I can always make the excuse that Dani, like my mom, doesn't want to confuse Jamie while he's learning, 3) any mistake I make could easily be a mistake that Jamie would make anyways. Wins all around!

Somewhat related, there was an absolutely fantastic Sherlock (BBC) fic back in the day (which was sadly removed from AO3) told from John's point of view where Sherlock decided he would go about his day in Italian. It included Italian dialogue that you could hover over for the translation, but the thrust of the fic was John playing along with his best guess of what was being said. The result was a fic that concurrently told two entwined stories by emphasizing two different povs by giving the audience the choice to ignore one in favor of experiences the other one first with no subtitles. It was very cool.

Which made me think of the most romantic scene ever(imo) from Tangled(my favorite Disney movie(which I will make him watch) and I would quite literally implode if someone ever did that with me irl. Also I love Italian food and I bet he can cook 🤤

4. Mozart. He was the first route I decided to read. Music was quite literally my first love and I actually enjoy listening to classical music, so he was a no brainer to start with. And stupidly I have a soft spot for tsunderes lol. I have the horrible urge to show him the weirdest stuff from my music playlists just to watch his head explode trying to comprhend how anyone could actually like such things 😂 also think it'd just be fun to show him how much music changes through decades and such. And Imma be nice and show him the soundtrack from Violet Evergarden(it's soooooo pretty) and Final Fantasy XV(and probably some of the other games too)

5. Jean. Again, I like the tramatized ones 🤷‍♀️ I think it's adorable how innocent he actually is. You’d be a game-show host.) but he's a sweetheart and like Theo if anyone even looked at him funny I'd be yelling ever swear I know at them 😁 I already had an interest in him before I decided to download IkeVamp, I particularlly like his older paintings and eventually want a copy of his flying fox for my living room. He'd be so much fun to do arts and crafts with 💛💛💛

Brush 10/10 he's so freaking cute and the way Vincent came up with his name is adorable and never fails to make me laugh. I wish I could have a pet racoon.

7. Isaac. Another precious baby. I just wanna tell Arthur and Dazai off everytime they mess with him lol. He'd be fun to just hang out with, but with how awkward and anxious we both are(and tbh he reads as probably Autistic to me 🤷‍♀️ I might just be projecting(then again all of them have SOMETHING if we're being honest 🤷‍♀️) it probably wouldn't happen often ☹️ I hate math, but I will gladly sit and let him ramble on about it for hours because it's clear just how much he loves it. I wonder what his reaction to us landing on the moon would be. I bet he'd enjoy watching How It's Made.

Harry 8/10 he's small and spiky and so cute 🥰

8. Arthur. I hate him. But I can't deny he is stupidly charming at the same time. 🙄 but I sure as hell wouldn't be telling him that. Deep down he's an okay guy. Just a horny idiot lol. I've always liked mystery/detective stuff(I blame being raised on Scooby Doo) so I could see us bonding over that. I will be showing him bbc's Sherlock and nobody can stop me. Also I feel like he's the type that would enjoy video games 🤷‍♀️ so that could be fun

Vic 7/10 Im personally more of a cat person but I love Charles spaniels, they're just so pretty

9. Faust. He annoys the crap out of me, but in an slightly enjoyable way? If that makes sense? Lol. I feel like we'd probably be constantly seeing who could annoy the other more 😂

10. Theo. Another one that annoys me. I like him, and his love for his brother, while sometimes a bit too intense is endearing, I just cannot stand all the "teasing" he does. But overall he's fine. Kinda intimidating(I am easily intimidated lol) but his heart's in the right place. I bet he'd probably cry seeing how much people love his brother's art nowadays. I think it'd be cool to take him to one of those interactive art exhibts(I went to a Vincent one and it was so cool)

King 8/10 BIG PUPPER 🖤🖤🖤 the bigger the dog the more I love them and golden retrivers are just so lovable

11. Napoleon. Honestly, he just feels like the big brother type 🤷‍♀️ dk what else there really is to say lol. I would 1000% beg him to teach me sword fighting because it looks fun.

12. Shakespeare. He reminds me of Loki tbh, so it's odd he'd be this low on the list but honestly, he gets on my nerves sometimes. And I always have to Google words whenever he shows up 😂 I feel like we could probably get along okay. I do have a love for drama...I'd love to expose him to musicals(I think he'd like Les Mis) and horror movies, he'd probably enjoy those too.

13. Comte. Just not really my type. I literally dk what else to say about this one. 14. Sebastian. I mean...he's cool I guess, but when you compare him to everyone else...🤷‍♀️ he'd defiently be fun to be friends with though. Keeping a book of things he learns while stalking observing the residents reminds me of when I used to like a certain boyband as a kid 😂 fun fact, I have a grey cat named Sebastian. And he WASN'T named after Seb from Black Butler...unlike somebody else 😂

Fraulien 8/10 cute but not exactly a favorite animal of mine 🤷‍♀️ she would still be getting cuddles though.

15. Vlad. He knows what he did to deserve being dead last 😡 He was higher up but then all the bullshit went down in Charles route and now he sucks 😤 should have known better than to trust someone who loves strawberries as much as he does(Im allergic) lol. Positives, I love his garden. And his taste in decor is just gorgeous. Im sure after I get over all the crap from Charles route we could get along okay 🤷‍♀️

More canning today! Italian plums have been harvested. Not nearly as productive but Ash prefers how tart they are to the sweetness of the Shiro Plums

Italian Rose Petal Plum Jam

These all turned out great. Got another 5 not in the picture. And I finally found an interesting use for the silly white rose bush out front (precious owners must have gotten a hardy one I haven't even watered the damn thing this year 🤣). They don't add any real flavor but they do look super fancy. Also added lime and coriander to the mix. Tastes great.

Also made this

Apple Grapefruit Jam

All I did here was add some fresh ground nutmeg, cardamom, and sumac. Love the deep golden brown color it took on.

I'm gonna drop recipes bellow the cut if any of y'all want them.

Italian Plum Jam

Ingredients

5 pounds Italian plums fresh from the tree

5 cups white granulated sugar

1.5 cups coconut sugar

2.2 ounces pectin (the kind for sugar added recipes)

2 limes

2 tablespoons coriander seeds

Optional couple handfuls of rose petals or other edible flower petals

Tools needed

Stock pot

Collender/strainer

About 3 free hours

Spatula recommended

Potato masher recommended

Your preferred method of canning and sanitized jars

Steps

Add plums to stock pot, add three cups of tap water, bring to a boil until the water nearly completely boils off. Move occasionally to prevent burning

Mash with potato masher or implement of choice.

Strain pulpy juice liquid through a collender. Any remaining after straining can either be discarded or you can do what I did and wait for it to cool, pull out the pits by hand, and then add the pulp back in (thicker jam with more fiber and flavor)

Put pulpy juice mixture on stove again and add pectin. Bring to a boil then cook while stirring for 2 minutes. If you stir and it stops boiling it isn't hot enough to start your 2 minute timer yet.

Add sugar and stir. Add 2 tablespoons butter (salted/unsalted doesn't matter here) to prevent foaming. Stir. Bring mixture to a boil again and cook for 1 minute. Same for boiling as step 4.

Move to counter and add coriander and optional petals. Add squeezed juice of two lines. Mix together.

Put into sanitized jars while still hot and put jars into hot water bath for 15 minutes. Upon removing from hot water bath give 20-30 min to properly seal.

Check your prefered way but you should be able to tell properly canned jars from the ones that didn't take by tapping a spoon on the lid. Properly sealed cans will have an almost musical metal ping sound, similar to striking a good fork on a counter. Unsealed cans will sound more dull.

Cool off and store in a room temp pantry. These things are good for years and years (to hell with what people say about canned food being shelf stable for only a year)

The apple jam is roughly the same recipe but add or remove sugar based on how tart your apples are. Average apples will take less sugar then Italian plums, I used grapefruit to make these even sweeter. Generally after you get the juice pulp mixture you want like 6-7 cups of it so whatever gets you there gets you there, don't worry about adding like half a cup of water or the like at that step if your volume is a little low.

she's number one cuz she's the reason i even decided to FINALLY check out love live, her design is cute and i love her personality. i feel connected to her and i admire her goal of wanting to connect to lots of people! she's shy but she's doing her best! also characters with masks are always great haha

she's so pretty and she's trying to play the part of "the cool mature adult" but there's so many moments when you can tell that she's a little overwhelmed by all the expectations even her friends put on her NOW THATS SOME DEPTH also i think it's funny that she's seen as elegant but sucks at chores lol

despite initially being like "WENDY'S?" i've grown fond of emma. maybe because we have some things in common (italian stuff, name things, etc.) but she's also just so gentle and kind. she loves food! food is awesome and she's not shy about loving food and sharing it with her friends. she's like a kind big sister to everyone and i admire that. ALSO HER WEIRD ATTACHMENT TO KARIN, THEY'RE LIKE A MARRIED COUPLE

i really didn't care for her at first, especially with the whole "oh she's actually the student council prez!" thing BUT the fact that she's actually a lil nerd inside who likes anime and shit is fun. i respect her trying so hard to balance being the president AND being an idol though i'm much happier now that i've gotten to the part where (spoiler) she no longer has the burden of being president.

ayumu is cute, don't get me wrong. i like that she's "the best friend from childhood who is super attached to you" (probably in love with you too tbh) but i feel like she's missing something????? it still feels like she's only an idol because she knows the player character likes idols. she still kinda feels like she's just "along for the ride" but maybe that's just me. her whole personality is "i love player character and would do anything to make them happy and stay by their side" and that's kinda... boring.

I'M SORRY KASUMI you can be cute sometimes but your weird ulterior motives (trying to make the other girls fat??? or just trying to make them "look bad" in general) and your weird fakeness is just not appealing. i know she's young but she needs to learn to cut that shit out lol. i do like that she refused to give up on the club and that she does do a lot of behind-the-scenes things to support the girls at times, so if she could just give up the weird little "competition" things, that would be nice

Verdana! I like how it looks and I think it's also the default on Tumblr and Ao3 (so I'm used to it)? Anyway, that's my favorite, along with Segoe Print for the titles. I think that the default usually is Arial (which is too slim for my tastes) or Calibri (but I don't like its "g").

Mmmmh, that's a difficult one. 🤔 "Squishy" maybe? I don't remember when I had the first contact with it, either in the English version of Finding Nemo or in Ratchet and Clank 3... No, it was definitely the latter in Curtney Gears's song (because they kept the original vocals in the Italian Dub of the game). And it's such a mood, because Squishy is a so friend shaped word, it gives you the idea of something soft/pudgy you can squeeze, but at the same time it can refer to an organic VS robot contest (like in R&C 3 where Squishy is a slur (≧∇≦)). So yeah, as you saw in this rant, it makes me go feral. (^～^;)ゞ

Since I can't talk about my Invisobang (which is what I'm frenetically working on because life hated me in the past week so I'm behind), I'm gonna shift to my SSB Ultimate WiP that I still haven't finished because my muse went on strike for that (even if the last thing it needs is one (1) scene).

Why I think there is so much fanfic for a made up movie

Now I don't write fanfic, but I feel like part of the reason writing fanfic for Goncharov (which is really just regular fiction because the movie doesn't actually exist) was so popular (other than it's funny), was because Goncharov in some way does exist, not as a movie but as a writing prompt.

Like, think about it, you have the vague outline of a plot (a Russian gangster travels to Italy and deals with the mafia), you have readymade characters (Goncharov, Katia, Ice Pick Joe), you have relationships between those characters (the homoerotic tension between Goncharov and Andrey, Katia and Sophia's love affair, I.P.J. being an unstable serial killer), and so on. Most of the story's elements are laid out before you.

When I write I often find the hardest part is coming up with an idea to write about, but here the outline of a story is all there already, all you have to do is fill in the plot in between.

It reminds me of something OSP's Red said about Robin Hood and why people keep writing about him; "A bunch of fully developed characters with interesting dynamics and no ironclad plot points to work around? That's a writer's dream!", and that's exactly the same idea with Goncharov, you have a full box of pieces, now all you have to do is put them together in whatever way you want!

Why Chris Pratt as Mario might be secretly genius, actually.

WAIT, WAIT HOLD ON, let me explain before you cast your judgement. For the record, I'm not a Chris Pratt/Marvel fanboy or anything and I have no clue if the movie is gonna be any good.

Okay, so, Crisp Rat as Mario J. Mario is a weird casting choice, and from the trailer which came out in *checks notes* October, we can see that Mario is lacking his iconic Italian accent, seemingly replaced with a subtle New York accent. This, I'd imagine, would've copped a lot more flak if not for the fact that everyone was talking about how good Jack Black was as Bowser.

I mean, it makes sense why people were hesitant about Mario's casting, seeing as most of the time, Mr. Pratt's roles are in the "Boring Generic Action Hero" category, and the only other voice acting role he's played (that I know of), is Emmet from The Lego Movie, a construction worker whose main trait is that he's a boring generic nobody who doesn't stand out at all (remember this, it'll be important later). But what if I told you that this penchant for genericism is what makes this whole thing brilliant?

See, the thing with characters in the Super Mario games is that a lot of them aren't really "characters", per se, but tropes. Archetypes that can be fitted into whatever story you want to tell with them. For example, you have the damsel in distress, Princess Peach, who is kidnaped by Bowser, the evil dragon, before being rescued by the gallant knight, Mario. Except that Mario isn't a knight in shining armor, he's a mustached, middle-aged man in overalls. That's because Mario isn't just any old hero, he's an Everyman. The humble, hard-working, blue-collar man that people can see themselves in. He's not the wielder of the Master Sword, or a blue hedgehog that can run faster than sound, or a robot from the future with a gun for a hand, Mario is just a regular guy with a plumbing business. The whole point of this trope is that Anyone can be Mario. The baker from down the road can defeat armies of goombas and koopas, your math teacher can brave eight worlds of levels to get to bowser's castle, your little sister can save the princess, and so can the butcher, the baker, the candlestick maker, or even an everyday construction worker.

You see where I'm going with this now? What I'm saying is that Chris Pratt might just be perfect for Mario not in spite of his previous generic roles, but because of them, that because Mario serves as a vessel for the player to project on and relate to, this "generic guy-ness" is precisely who Mario as an archetype is.

Of course, this thesis fails to take into consideration that Mario has arguably moved beyond his initial generic roots (and by generic here, I mean relating to a large group or universally applicable, I'd be burned at the stake for saying Mario is a boring character), and has since become a beloved character archetype in his own right, as well as the simple fact that the disconnect between what we've seen so far of Prattio and the performances of Charles Martinet will take a fair bit of getting used to, but that's not what this essay is about. I am not positing that Chris Pratt is the new definitive voice of Mario, nor am I guaranteeing that Pratt's performance in the movie will 100% be good. What I am saying, however, is that it can work, and why it is completely possible that it will. Whether it actually will work still remains to be seen, but there is still a chance. em's comfort retro rally videos: a masterlist!

in a much-needed return to this blog's roots, and as an antidote to all motorsport- and life-related chaos, i now present to you: the first edition of em's favorite retro rally videos!

general disclaimer/info: these videos mainly come from the group B era of the world rally championship (wrc), which generally speaking was in the '80s. i am only human, so expect a lot of bias toward my personal favorites...which will become very apparent as you read this list hehe. also i'm not even gonna pretend to be an expert on this or anything. a lot of these are literally just based on Vibes

in which my bias toward audi sport, mouton/pons, mikkola, toivonen, and vatanen are put on blast for all to see 🥴 i am not an expert in anything i am just very good at research and a whore for aud—[SNIPED]. for the sake of brevity, i narrowed my favorites down to 5. maybe another time i will share all the rest!

also, a general note about the commentary: sometimes, the commentary around michèle and fabrizia can get... weird. keep in mind, they were the most prominent female team partnership around that time, and the first to nearly clinch a wrc wdc, and to modern ears, the commentators really didn't know how to act around them. personally, it wasn't horrible for me, i just ignored the weirder bits, but i understand if others might find it off-putting. also for the sake of your sanity don't read the comments.

5. Rally of the 1000 Lakes, 1984 | finland

comments: this was definitely a rally for most of audi sport's drivers to forget: bar stig blomqvist, who came quite close to the podium finishers with a 4:14:01 to henri toivonen's 4:12:57! both hannu mikkola and michèle mouton had to retire from the race, which may lead you to wonder: why does this rank among my favorites? well, it's always fun to watch group b rally cars sailing through the air against picturesque scenery, and this video also contains an intriguing (at least for me!) look at the scrutineering process, with drivers at their most casual.

4. Lombard RAC Rally, 1981 | britain

comments: hannu winning by 11 whole minutes even after rolling his car in the middle of the forest is actual legend behavior! anyway this was michèle's first wrc outing in britain, and even though she and fabrizia had to retire, they still did quite well, consistently running high in the leaderboards after the first few stages. and that's considering the fact that michèle had a bad cold for much of the rally and had to ask fabrizia to drive the car to service park for her at one point bc she was so tired. which fabrizia did... with a pencil in her mouth. lot of big names in one video—also, jean todt makes an appearance as a co-driver!

3. Marlboro Safari Rally, 1983 | kenya

comments: ok can i just say how stunning the video presentation is?? the opening sequence is just!!! the shots of the wildlife! the sprinting giraffes! wow! anyway the visual of drivers in deck chairs just tickles me for no reason, and michèle please tell me what you ask for at the hairdresser's and also where you got that orange blouse (this is obviously not just specific to this rally, she always eats and leaves no crumbs). this was michèle's first entry and only finish in kenya (and of course it was a podium mwah). it was also her last wrc entry in the A1 quattro, as she switched to the A2 for the rest of her program in the '83 season. also this is one of my favorite podium pictures ever.

lksdjffnnkd there's almost too much to unpack... fabrizia somehow surviving in high waist jeans in a hot car... michèle's do-it-yourself shorts... this podium picture was the subject of a very frantic video chat conversation between myself and a friend at 2am a few months ago

comments: GOD I LOVE THIS ONE SO MUCH AAAA! michèle's first podium of '82 being a win? this rally being the one where there's footage of her going shopping with fabrizia afterward? (more on that later) them winning by 13 whole minutes? and that's not even considering THEE most poetic victory ceremony of all time! in fact let me talk about that bc the racing and the win aside, that's why it's so high up on my list! literally poetic cinema! it's night, they're standing on top of the car and floodlit and surrounded by cheering crowds but they may as well be the only ones there in their own little world, laughing at each other and barely even having to look to each other when they're raising their hands—like god! shut up! we get it you're besties 😭

1. Lombard RAC Rally, 1982 | britain

comments: firstly, if you were to ask me about my dream podium, this would be it. hands down, across all series of motorsport, my comfort podium would be hannu, michèle, and henri in any order. (there's such a cute picture of them from this rally on pinterest, standing in order on a staircase. henri is not looking at the camera because he is laughing at something michèle is saying and it's such a Vibe but i cannot find it wah). the battle for second between michèle and henri ran down to literally the last stage, and their times are separated by seconds, which is just wild to me. the context of this rally deserves another post, which i honestly don’t have the energy to make rn, but just take my word for it that it threatens to destroy me if i think about it too hard! anyway this is just such an awesome rally and i’ve watched this video so many times haha

i love this rally so much that i actually had a character in a story i was writing attend the ceremony captured in this picture as a small child and made it a formative moment in her life. no, there is nothing wrong with me.

'Group B - Avec Michele Mouton' (eng) - taken from a longer feature presentation about group b, a segment specifically about michèle. a friend once described its vibes as ‘a synth wave edit of an 80s anime set in a cyberpunk world about racing’

'2008 Otago International Classic Rally' (eng) - THE BESTIES REUNITE THE BESTIES REUNITE!!! michèle and fabrizia reunite for a rally that fabrizia convinced michèle to join, they suffer some problems but there are plenty of wholesome bestie moments to be had

'Michele Mouton hurls Group B Audi Quattro up Goodwood hill' (eng) - i mean, self explanatory. the sound of the chirping tires? asmr could never. very short watch if you want a quick pick-me-up
