When Phantom joined the Justice League, he wasn’t prepared to be approached by Batman of all people. He had been warned to not take everything Batman says to you personally, but that he was a great hero.

Batman had a request. A simple one, at least according to Batman. He asked Phantom to meet an anti-hero who had come back from the dead and had some … nasty side effects.

Phantom, intrigued, agreed. Batman set a time and place, and Phantom showed up. But, Phantom thought Batman had said the one in the red helmet was the undead.

He doesn’t understand why everyone freaks out when Phantom approaches the vigilante with half a cowl dressed in black and red. This boy reeked of death, did Batman seriously not know?

Danny and Nedzu are in the same lab (maybe danny is there bc its a remnants of the giw, or maybe the giw sold danny to this other lab way back when - danny is pseudo immortal. Or fell through the time stream/a portal, or was sent there, or opened the wrong door in an effort to escape)

They didn't meet until the escape

Nedzu couldn't leave him once he saw him. And it was this action that tipped the scales in granting him legally recognized sentience, and allowed him his hero's license)

They both happened to be taking advantage of the situation (that they made but thats besides the point), and since neither was certain what they would find outside it would be...advantageous to go together. They're on the streets for a bit, but their skills and abilities together mean they don't stay there for long.

They knew each other for a while

Danny taught nedzu what he knew. Spoke to him and treated him no different than any of the 'human' experiments. Even after nedzu's knowledge and intelligence surpassed his, he didn't stop treating him like a person. A friend.

Or maybe nezu was there when Danny was brought in - all small and still. Nedzu taught Danny Japanese. Offered kind words (that he himself wasnt sure how to give. But he tried anyways and learned) and helped bring back a spark to his eyes. When nedzu was able, he brought in small bits of wire and metal. It was seeing what danny could do with a few small items that started the plan for escape. After all, if he could make a weapon from scrap...what would he be able to do with access to their break room?

Danny gets adopted by Bruce Wayne au but consider: Danny was brought up in a loving-if absolutely insane- household where pda and mushy gushy stuff wasn't only said, but expected.

The bats almost never voice thier love for one another, instead showing it in a variety of different ways.

What I'm saying is that Danny keeps nearly killing them by saying "I love you." I'm not even joking. Danny has nearly offed the bats more times in his week staying in wayne manor than any Gotham villian would dare try
