I find that the better you get at writing the more likely you are to confuse people. Unintentionally of course but often times you’ll use words or sentence structures that can negatively affect the flow of your work. It’s a great reason to have an editor or someone to read it so they can point out what you won’t notice. I’ve used big words without realizing how little people see that word regularly used. I’ve also seen this in many books I’ve read. Since I don’t have many people read my works I’ve found a good tool is Hemingway Editor. It’s a website that’s free and it’s a great tool for any type of writer. It highlights poor wording, run on sentences, and lots of other generally helpful edits. It tells you the “Read Time” for your work, the amount of words and characters used, the amount of sentences, and the amount of paragraphs. These are all super helpful for both writing stories and school papers. The main thing I use it for though is it looks at the work as a whole and tells you the reading level of your paper. This is insanely useful because I find that keeping it at 5th grade or less is best. It doesn’t lower the quality of your work at all but even for my Mature stories, having it at a lower level makes it much easier to comprehend and makes the stories flow a lot easier than before. There are plenty of times that I can’t get it to that level without damaging my story, which is fine, but it is still great at helping me recognize how overly complex a sentence is. It often offers replacement terms for issues it finds as well which is nice. I’m sure that their are tons of other tools available which I always watch for but this is my favorite and has been my most used tool for years so I wanted to share it.

Edit: I also think this is great for making your work easier to read for non-native English speakers which is always something to be aware of. Tumblr has people from all over just like the rest of the world and theirs no harm in making it a little easier for them to be apart of a fandom.

Generosity of Spirit. ✨️ A transmasculine figure stylized after the Celtic deity known as Cernunnos, a god of both liminality and abundance. In one hand he spills grains from an overflowing bowl, and in the other he holds the mysterious horned serpent depicted in much of the ancient iconography. Surrounding him are three curling vines like an inverse triskelion, decorative motifs from Iron Age coins of Brittonic tribes, and the Anglo-Saxon rune "gyfu" - literally "gift."

I've been working on this piece for a few weeks now and I'm pretty happy with it. The LGBT2S+ community has a long history of using art to promote growth and healing in ourselves and each other, and we often do it by the transmutation of negative energy into positive action - Generosity of Spirit is meant to represent that power.

This will be on stickers and maaaaaaybe other stuff in the next shop update on 7/7.

I think this is my first dsmp blog that openly talks about sexuality. Not that the blogs I regularly go to don't talk about it, it's just nice to see someone talking about sexuality without fighting ppl on why it's valid (the homophobes against unlabeled ppl/LGBT2+ towards dream)

Stereotypes are the worst. Never use them. Whether in writing, life, or at all really. Unless you’re shit talking them. BUT I will always laugh when I see the stereotypical California Girls. I can’t believe it’s still as common as it is in the shit year of 2022 but I genuinely crack up. So as a gremlin that inhabits these burning woods of the Mars of Earth, I will speak on it for no real reason other than I saw it again today in fanfics. Most of California is not about that Tan life, if anyone drives a sports car or convertible in California you are instantly hated by every other driver. Like, you will crash before someone will let you merge, you will be seeing red with how many break checks you get. Blondes aren’t that huge here, we’ve got a rather well stocked collection of goths and are attempting to get some limited edition “DND” characters shipped in during this Stranger Things sale, and while we sadly do have way too much interest in jocks and cheerleaders, we are working on fixing that bug. Nobody’s perfect, fuck off. Also, Hollywood may be California “technically” but like, is it really? And if you say yes. Is it tho? Anywho, I can’t remember anything else but to reiterate. Stereotypes are the worst, they are not only never accurate, but almost always way off from the actual facts and are pretty dumb. If you want to have a stereotype or cliche like Dumb Blonde, you do you, but generalizing a group is not okay. Not all blondes are dumb, I have been blonde a few times and I didn’t not get dumber. Just like I don’t get smarter when I wear glasses. So don’t be a dick.

Lesbian Participants Needed for Survey

For my honours project, I’m performing a study identifying how microaggressions (e.g., covert/subtle discrimination) may impact lesbian women by causing them to experience self-infrahumanization (i.e., attributing certain characteristics to their own social group over others), and how self-esteem may mediate the hypothesized effect. Anyone can participate, but only data collected from lesbian women currently living in Canada or America will be analyzed for the purposes of this study.
