Recently found the courage to go back and rewatch Kana I won’t say it didn’t hurt but I stopped before the you know what part and I’m choosing to believe they left together to go travelling.
Ah, man... The ending we could have so easily gotten and SHOULD have.
Sometimes I see notifications on old Kana posts and I look them up and read the tags and ahhhh, they were so good. Nothing can do it like soaps! You just don't get that time with characters outside of them. In fact, nowadays you can't even get 20 ep regular seasons or multiple seasons, your ship better be together by the end of 8 eps or that's it forever.
Actually, I wanted some comfort watching these last few weeks so I started watching the end of the second last Neighbours season, the one that was supposed to be the finale, because I knew they were going to reunite Chelly and I thought at least that'd be a nice ending, though I never did actually end up watching their original storyline. And it ended up being really touching and so amazing what they were able to do with all the cameos and wrapping what they thought were going to be forever endgames. Like, Mike and Jane, who were first together almost 40 years ago and getting a reunion so many years later? Played by the same actors? I adore that kind of thing.
But anyway, I ended up wanting to know more about Chelly and as it turns out, I had downloaded the full eps from the seasons they got together and have slowly been making my way through them and you truly get SO much with soaps! There are all these character and relationship building moments before the romance even starts. It's always been one of my regrets that Kana only got so much interaction before Rana's drunken kiss, but they definitely took their time after!
I was talking to my friend about Chelly and also that other Belgian soap I giffed a little while ago, Thuis, and we were discussing how rare it is that any soap couple gets the literal soulmate treatment Kana got. There are a lot of little moments I've forgotten but this one is burned in:
She was trying so hard not to give in but the mention of soulmate and she's helpless.
Sometimes I think about going back and watching and obviously also stopping before That happens, I might really do it at some point. I rewatch Otalia sometimes, the good stuff near the end of 2008, and it really isn't ruined by the trash that came later.
I also started watching this season of Ici Tout Commence, a French soap, after hearing of recent developments there, I'm still just on September but I'm enjoying the ride. Eastenders, I have all the eps downloaded from when Eve arrived but it seems too daunting a ride to get on at the moment. Keeping an eye on 4 Estrellas, I do actually love them but I tend to catch up in batches and I'd like to wait for them to get back together first. General Hospital, still not caught up at all. But yeah, it seems I'm a soap girl now, huh. :)
sapphics deserve so much better in general because they get treated so poorly compared to gay men it’s like the writers can’t get their head around that two women being in love is normal and the on going trope that the writers have of killing off one half of a sapphic ship and leaving the other traumatised with grief when two men can have a future together but two women can’t sapphic ships really are the softest though they really have something different about them
I remember years ago
Someone told me I should take
Caution when it comes to love
I did, I did
And you were strong and I was not
My illusion, my mistake
I was careless, I forgot
And now when all is done
Tell them I was happy
Tell them all we could have been...

It's Barbie Week at the Browne Popular Culture Library!
Although Barbie is widely known as a children's toy, there is a sizeable collector's market for Barbie dolls, and we have quite a few comprehensive books about Barbie, her friends, and accessories. They're quite helpful for people who want to learn about the history of specific dolls, design changes, and pricing.
We also have several catalogs directed at serious Barbie collectors looking for exclusive dolls and items. These are often higher quality than Barbie dolls meant to be played with -- some are made of porcelain instead of plastic. Many collector edition Barbies are tie-ins with other media or reproductions of vintage dolls. Below is one of our catalogs from 2003:
Here's a page from the catalog, chosen because the person who runs this account played with a Rapunzel Barbie when she was younger (though a way less fancy version):
A different catalog shows off more collector's edition dolls, such as a Bob Mackie Circus Barbie, complete with a swing (left) and a pair of dolls commemorating the marriage of Prince William and Kate Middleton (right):
For more information about these items, check out our catalog listings below the read more.

I was randomly suggested a Kana compilation vid and watched the entire two hours (and stalked your tags) and now I’m actually bereft. Not a big soap watcher so while I did note the change in show quality after Aiden, I didn’t see Rana’s death coming AT ALL. Especially on their wedding day?? What! I’ve only been invested for hours and I’m pissed. Can’t imagine how it must have felt to watch that in real time. We’ve come so far but in some ways rep is still so lacking.
Oh, no, anon! I can't tell which experience is worse. No warning but invested for a couple of hours, vs us who were watching for a couple of years, but we actually DID get some warning, plus quite a few of us, me included, were a bit cooled off on the ship because of the weird baby obsession they'd given Kate, to the point of trying to sleep with a guy.
They did seem done with that, though, and I was warming up again but around that very time, Juliantina was on the rise so I was getting sucked into them and then the Rana spoilers came out. :x I didn't watch any of the eps leading up to it, but I will always remember them in such a conflicted way.
They were SO good when they were good, and for such a long time. And I know the writers didn't do what they did out of any kind of malice or even just apathy, it was more just a well-intentioned but very thoughtless gesture to them and the fans. I just wish they'd researched a bit more or listened to more queer voices... :x
Heh, you dropped this ask in the middle of a tumultuous weekend for wlw fandom, but hopefully you can jump into something more fun to watch instead
I recently read That Scandalous Evening by Christina Dodd and I was wondering if you have read books with that kind of dynamic? Like the hero/heroine wanting to paint/draw/sculp the hero/heroine
I love That Scandalous Evening! Art in HR peaked with that book imho; that nude sculpture with only a little fig leaf covering his bits was inspired, but what really put it over the top was the aftermath when Ransom is ENRAGED and HORNY and clearly into Jane's hero worship but he's also being likened to a DOG and he literally presses her hand to his dick and says "note the difference"— all of which I was completely not expecting so that made it even better. Anyway— artist/muse recs:
My Dirty Duke by Joanna Shupe: Violet is a photographer and uses the camera her dad's best friend Ravensthorpe gifted her to photograph him nude (front and back 👏🏼).
Falling Into Bed with a Duke Lorraine Heath: The hero Ashbury likes to photograph legs and when Minerva Dodger propositions him at a sex club, he jumps at the chance to get those leg pics (I also have in my notes him saying "your foot is flawless" and between this and In Want of a Viscount I'm starting to think Lorraine Heath likes to write in a tasteful foot fetish).
In Which Matilda Halifax Learns the Value of Restraint by Alexandra Vasti: Ashford is Matilda's accidental(?) muse in that her erotic cartoons of dirty profs tying gals up were subliminally inspired by Ashford, but then the publisher took some liberties to make it a more exact likeness, namely adding an ass tat, which is why Ashford hunts down Matilda to "make her pay" or something.
The Marquess Method by Kathleen Ayers: I forget if Theo actually ends up painting a miniature of Haven but she definitely wanted to, so she informs him in the middle of having sex, down to the paint shade she'd use. This is the same woman who painted a miniature of herself with one(?) tit out in order to lure a guy she liked... only to get compromised by Haven.
Sweetest Scoundrel by Elizabeth Hoyt: The funny thing about this one is that Asa is all "oh Eve is suuuuuch a shrew" but then the second she asks to paint him but clarifies it's not a nude, he's super butthurt and is like "is it because I'm a COMMON LOUT? too ugly to be painted naked??" and if that doesn't inform their dynamic idk what else will. Also, there's this whole subplot of Bridget Crumb being *enthralled* by Val's tasteful nudes in his house.
Midnight Ruin by Katee Robert: As of today I can confirm Orpheus did a series of paintings of Eurydice's vaj but kept them private, even after they broke up. There is also a body painting/edging sex scene.
Serving Pleasure by Alisha Rai: Rana kinda stalks Micah but he's aware and very into it and eventually asks her to be his muse for his paintings/fuckbuddy for the duration. It's actually SO HOT and Rana's the kind of crazy heroine I wanna see more South Asian girlies written as.
Captives of the Night by Loretta Chase: Leila is an artist and she either does paint Esmonds or wants to paint him.
That tweet had little to no engagement before Rana had quoted it. This white saviorship complex towards Simone and then being condescending towards her woc especially her desi fans is nauseating. Simone deserves better fans cause all yall do is make her a target with your constant hate towards the rest of the cast. The hate that some of you still have for Charithra especially just tells me that yall do not care about woc or desi women and just use Simone as means to project your weird hatred towards her after over an year.
Lmao what are you even talking about? I’m not going to address all this bullshit that has nothing to do with me, you have clearly some other blogger in your head cause I never talked about CC on this blog if not to say that I didn’t agree with the way she handled promo and the way she talked about her character and Kate. That’s not hate tho. Also you people need to accept that fact that some of us are not here to stan every member of the cast. That does not equal hate lmao.
The Legend of Zelda: Link (Champion of the Wild), Link (Hero of Twilight), Zelda (Link Between Worlds), Zelda (Twilight Princess), Hilda, Mipha, Urbosa, Impa (Age of Calamity), Impa (Hyrule Warriors), Twili Midna, Cia, Linkle
