All you did was bump into him while you were trying to turn around from the counter in the kitchen. The party was packed, but the kitchen wasn’t quite as bad. You didn’t think you had to watch your every step so carefully.

The guy, clearly drunk off his ass, turns around and tells you to watch yourself. He throws out some basic insults, nothing too deep, but the attempt pisses your blonde, hotheaded boyfriend off.

The guy reaches for you, probably to tap your shoulder, throwing out some “flirty” comment meant to degrade you.

Naruto shoves the dude back, “watch your tone when you talk to her. That’s my girl.”

The dude, with as much respect for Naruto as he had, nods quickly, scampering off.

Naruto pours you another drink, giving you it as he pulls you onto the dance floor.

Sasuke Uchiha

Somebody talking down to his wife?

He knows damn well you can handle yourself, so he’ll stay back, but if you look at him for some help, he’s coming right on over.

He caught wind of the guy telling you off for being weak, saying you’re no help so you have no business ever being a ninja.

He can’t help but wonder what the hell this guys problem is. His wife isn’t weak. You’re one of the top ninja in the village, without a doubt. Maybe he has an issue with women?

It was over something that was common knowledge to a person native to the village your team was visiting, but you simply didn’t know. You’d apologized many times. Wasn’t that enough?

He’s very subtly sassy at first. He’s monotone and flat in tone, but he’s being snarky. You can tell and the dude is catching on.

As Sai gets more pissed off, he gets more obvious.

Because it takes a bit to make him actually feel any which way, this dude is just a dickhead. And Sai isn’t having it

“Watch your tone. Talk to her right. Or we can handle this elsewhere?” Sai is smiling, but it’s a threat.

She’s fuming when she hears somebody talking down to you. How dare somebody shit talk her girlfriend while you’re just trying to shop.

You’d gotten the last of something, since you were there first, but some Karen ass woman wanted it and was telling you why she deserves it more than you.

You’d explained kindly how you got to it first, but looked about ready to give it up and hand it over.

Sakura wasn’t going to let this woman step on your toes

“Watch your tone when you talk to my girl.” Sakura balls her hands into fists beside herself, but doesn’t raise them.

The woman is scared because Sakura is lowkey jacked and now she knows she’ll never be safe again. She gives it up.

Kakashi Hatake

This person didn’t know you were with Kakashi, without a doubt.

You were in a book store, and apparently you’d accidentally bumped into some girl and knocked all the books out of her arms. (She was carrying way too many without a basket for some reason)

You apologized, helping her pick them up, but she wasn’t letting it go.

She kept insulting your thinking skills and asked if you’re going blind. Over all, just things Kakashi knew weren’t true or didn’t matter. It was an accident. (And if you were going/are blind, it’s still, and more so, not your fault so he’s trying to figure out who tf this girl is??)

He waits to see what you do, but he won’t hesitate if he sees you need just a bit of help.

“How unhappy with your life do you have to be to talk like that?” Kakashi asks, closing his book. “You should watch your tone when you talk to my girl.”

in toris defense its not like her ABNU friends (kakashi, itachi, shisui (lmao)) are particularly more dangerous than her non abnu friends (deidara, obito, kushina). If anything, being on ABNU is a sign that you are less likely to go nuclear and destroy a village. Though actually, /are/ Deidara/Obito offered ABNU positions? It would be funny if everyone but Tori was offered one, even if she didn't want it anyway, but also I'm not sure I'd want either of them on my secret black ops squad.

as for being offered ANBU positions.... i think it depends on how you view ANBU functioning vs general pool? canon is kind of inconsistent, but we're told minato put kakashi in ANBU so he could directly supervise him. so i can see minato considering the idea of putting obito in there so he can keep a closer eye on him, but i think he would eventually conclude that not only would obito be EXTREMELY resistant to the stricter code of conduct, but also maybe we don't want to send obito on all murder missions all the time? and i think deidara wouldn't be recruited for similar reasons-- he is wildly allergic to being stealthy/secretive or a stricter code of conduct. some people treat ANBU like some elite thing only the best of the best get into, but Itachi was in there as a chunin so I don't think it's like.... that big of an indicator of skill? i like them having some sense of mysteriousness and missions with heightened danger, and i don't think they let you in if you're below average, but i also don't think it's be considered a snub or a lack of skill to never be offered. lots of really excellent ninja never go in, and some middle-of-the-road ninja get offers because their demeanor & skillset are a good fit

also minato can't recruit deidara and NOT tori because then she'd get fixated on joining and he's. he's no longer sure he could stop her??? and tbh tori has a slightly better personality for ANBU than deidara. i say 'slightly' because sometimes tori SEEMS like she's very obediently deferring to authority and then the authority just dies. but she IS better at stealth

(recruiting tori but not deidara ALSO means upsetting deidara, but he'll just take out some buildings and then kushina will give a speech about how it's important for young people to express their feelings. nbd)

"S-sorry," he managed to say towards his feet, his throat tight. It felt like he was going to start crying any moment now and"I didn't… I-I wasn't looking wh-where—"

"Iruka?" 

That voice was unmistakable. It was just his rotten luck that he would bump into Kakashi now of all times.

"Iruka, are you alright?" Kakashi prompted as he pulled Iruka more firmly against his chest, one of his hands settling on Iruka's back while he moved the other to gently tilt his face up. "Hey, sensei, talk to me. What—" 

The alpha paused abruptly the moment he could see Iruka's face. Iruka could almost feel that keen dark eye watching him as Kakashi took stock of the bruises, the blood, the tears that finally started to fall. Whether he said anything or not, it wasn't going to take a genius to figure out what had happened to him and Kakashi was far from stupid.

"Who did this to you?" Kakashi asked a moment later as if to prove Iruka right. His voice was measured, but it was also very obvious he was doing his best to hold in a growl as his anger could be easily felt through both his scent and chakra. "Iruka, who did this?"

"I— M-Mizuki and I… we just… it was—" 

He couldn't for the life of him find the right words to explain the situation. It was one thing to know Mizuki had attacked him in a fit of jealousy and another to admit to it outloud. Somehow it felt as if saying it would make it more… real.

"Did you argue? And he struck you?" Kakashi asked, apparently able to read between the lines despite Iruka not saying much at all.

"Y-yes." The admission felt heavy – heavier than expected – but it also somehow made it easier for him to speak. "He got angry and… I had to leave. I c-couldn't stay there. I j-just—"

He inhaled sharply when Kakashi's thumb brushed against his cheekbone, wiping away some of the tears.

"It's alright, you don't have to explain," Kakashi told him. His voice was impossibly soft, though there was still a certain edge to it. "Should I take you somewhere safe? Do you have a friend you could stay with? Anyone you can trust?"

Something inside Iruka seized painfully when he realised he couldn't point out even one person.

All of his friends were Mizuki's friends too. They grew up and attended the Academy together. Most of them were peers too, either from the same graduation class or team, often both. Asking them for help would mean not only explaining the situation once again, but also forcing them to pick a side – to pick one friend over the other. On top of that Iruka couldn't help but worry he would be the one blamed for how things turned out. 

That fear alone was more than enough to make him shake his head and say, "No. There's no one like that."

so i'm usually not a very shippy person! but that said i am also on the record as an occasional kakayama + kakayamagai enjoyer

i do hc them both as trans and in different ways w/ different experiences of transition and identity! i have no interest in proving my view as canon, but i do regard my reading of the text (text here including the anime) as a valid interpretation of yamato's experience of identity

yamato, for example, imo, doesnt have any real lived experience of being raised as a child of any gender. he was an experimental subject, and then he was Danzō's weapon/vessel for the mokuton, and then he was in anbu.

in a fun little word game which should not be taken seriously: it'd almost be more fitting to describe him as "adgender" rather than "transgender" since the prefix "trans" implies moving across where the prefix "cis" means to stand still, but the prefix "ad" means "to move towards" and i headcanon him as somebody who was degendered as a child, not in a cool nonbinary way, but instead in a dehumanizing, objectifying way, so his experience of creating his identity and his gender along with it is one of moving toward the concept of gender this word doesn't and wont exist, but bc of the way english works it would probably be simplified to be spelled precisely the same as "agender" in the same way that "aggression" came from latin "aggredi" which came from "ad" (meaning to/toward) and and latin "gradus" (meaning step) (essentially the combination means "to step to" [in a threatening manner]) the only diferences is where agender (meaning no gender) is pronounced ay-gender, the agender that comes from adgender would be prounounced more like "uhgender" in the same way that agressive isnt pronounced like "ay-gressive" but instead like "uhgressive"

and then...as for kakashi? i just decided on vibes. i didn't think hard about it.

i guess i should also say that, while i draw kakayama very infrequently, when i do draw it i usually try to be very apparent about the transness in the artwork if i can? especially if i'm drawing anything more intimate than a peck on the cheek. it's no secret that shipping is often times the most energized part of fandom, and i kind of don't want to produce romantic or sexual artwork which will be enjoyed by people who don't think trans people can be attractive? or who find that trans headcanons make a character uninteresting to them? or worse, "ruin" a depiction of a character to them?

often i think about in terms of. IF there are people that follow me that love my work (usually) and think that kakashi or yamato are hot (usually) and love kakayama (usually) but get frustrated or even uncomfortable out when i draw them as explicitly trans? then i'm drawing all intimate artwork of them as explicitly trans.

it's a little like...nobody gets to love my work if transgender characters are a turnoff for them. that's the bar for entry, is the way i think of it, but really its more like putting onions in a dish. if you want to eat the dish you have to eat the onions. if you don't want to eat the onions, don't eat the dish. all the meals i make contain onions. i'll never compromise on my intention to put onions in every dish i make. that's my ninja way, as the kids say.

especially in the climate we're in right now.

i don't know. i have a lot of feelings about how most fandoms tend to view trans men, especially in terms of romantic and sexual relationships. I'm doing a bad job of expressing the depth of how much seeing how fandom treats trans male identity and transmasculine bodies impacts the way that i draw + write kakayama, but genuinely it's something i think about every single time i create content about them.

This is a weird thought I had a while ago about Kakashi and first Gai but...was it possible Kakashi had a little bit of a crush on Gai that he never realized because he was still a child?

Like he was a little possessive of Gai and their time together, he didn't want to get to know Gai's boyfriend/ husband. He told Gai all his secrets and insecurities that he never told anyone else about, he kept showing Gai all these cool things, gods, people, locations... part of me thinks Bull was almost made to carry Gai around the skies with Kakashi (if only because that image is adorable, and I think I read somewhere that Bull was made when Kakashi met Gai and needed a way to help send him home after he got lost on the mountain.).

Just the idea of little Kakashi having the cutest crush on Gai, and Gai maybe noticing at some point but never acknowledging it and always treating Kakashi respectfully, just playing it off as friendship. Because at that point he was a teen/ adult and his own childish crush had long since faded as he grew up, and he would never be interested in a child. Even if they were a few hundred years old in reality.(Maybe Sakumo peaking in just to make sure Gai was a safe adult around his kid, and being satisfied that "yeah, this is a good one.")

I think he liked spending time with Gai and he had a bit of a rocky relationship with Gai’s first partner because their personalities genuinely crashed

But Kakashi wouldn’t feel like he’s the only one allowed to be around Gai. He actually enjoys seeing Gai with other’s and watching as he creates other bonds. He knows it’s healthy to have various bonds.

Bull was sort of a response to his friendship with Gai. A dog that would play with both of them happily and loved to bump his head against Gai’s side whenever they met again. When Gai passed Bull was at Kakashi’s side offering comfort (he was the second hound crested, as Pakkun was created out if Kakashi’s desire to not feel so lonely)

As for the crush, i can see it. Kakashi is a pretty emotionally attached character who is just really good at hiding how much a bond means to him, even from himself. I mean he’s the one who thought of Obito as his friend when their actual bond could barely be called that. He would have a lil crush on Gai and not even realize it until hundreds of years later when Gai gives him the cutest look and he suddenly feels like there’s five thousand butterflys fluttering around in his stomach

Which is a feeling he has had before but never understood. It took him three lifetimes with Gai to finally register what these feelings were and it was partially because at this point he also has Ibiki so there’s more understanding on what love is for him’

Hmmm I'm not sure, tbh! In a partnership, the obvious choice would be, well, Itachi, but Itachi doesn't really fit with Zelda. In BotW at least, Zelda struggles with feeling like a failure, something that worsens with her feelings of inadequacy around Link (who is silent but admired), and it takes a good while for them to warm up to each other and their bond is only truly forged when they fight Calamity Ganon... Shisui, as I have it, was supportive with Itachi right from the start and Shisui was Itachi's safe space. Similarly, a huge part of Itachi's character is that he's always been so capable and ahead of the curve. Whilst there is parallels between Shisui being a guardian to Itachi like Link is Zelda's Knight, I don't think Itachi would have the same role as Zelda against Ganon. Maybe people will disagree with me, but I can't see Itachi as a counterpart like that.

And I mentioned there that, if Shisui was Link, I'd be more likely to - depending on what game you're basing this on - either have Ino has the princess he befriended, have some kind of symbolic Avatar of Konoha stand in for Zelda. Maybe having tachi as his counterpart in 'sealing the darkness' (this heavy handedness of the Uchiha's role as royal family doesn't sit right with me, I'll have to keep thinking)... or rethinking the whole dynamic instead to have Shisui as Zelda (battling Danzo's corrosive forces in the kingdom?) whilst Itachi or Kakashi or Tenzo (elf/fairy energy, maybe) or whoever plays the part of Link instead?

Frankly, I'd rather approach a LoZ/Narutoverse crossover as a very specific post-apocalyptic AU than putting all of the Narutoverse cast into LoZ plotline ☺️ less confinement

I’ve always wondered how do weddings work in the naruto omega verse?

I've never given it too much thought tbh.

I think I'd have to research a lot about Japanese weddings and then edit them to fit the Naruto world and then edit it them again to fit the a/b/o world in order to get an accurate answer.

Generally speaking, I imagine clans like the Hyuuga, Nara and the Uchiha to have very traditional Japanese style weddings with a lot of their own clan customs merged in.

Clans like the Iuzuka don't do weddings at all, and the Aburame have so many of their own traditions that weddings are hardly recognisable as weddings at all.

Clans like the Akimichi and the Yamanaka generally favour huge and expensive weddings that have a more western style.

Civilians... I'm not sure. I think trends would change faster with civilians. I can imagine traditional weddings being popular during the Sandaime's time as hokage, but by the time Kakashi has taken over, weddings are much more like parties or something idk.

But I think in a world where family businesses are still the norm for employment and most civilians aren't educated for very long, their weddings would be fairly lowkey and simple unless they were aristocracy or something.

I'd be happy to hear other people's thoughts on the matter or answer some more specific questions about it if anyone's is interested, but those are my basic ideas :D

fanfic recommendations

i have a tag dedicated to all the fics i have read here, on Tumblr, which i liked a lot. but i also wanted to make a post of fic recs for those which i read on Ao3. now they can be one-shots, short fanfics or a long fanfics. some could also be cross posted, both here and Ao3 which i may or may not be aware of.

this is my way of spreading and appreciating the works and supporting the authors that have written these gems as well as being able to help some of you find good fics you might not have read before, or maybe, reminding you of those fics you might have forgotten.

i read this story last year and i still remember it in detail to this day. i literally downloaded it in case the author ever takes it off internet. yuuji, coffee shop au, college au, strangers to friends to lovers, mutual pining, fluff. need i say more? this is so sweet and heart warming and heart fluttering. this is so well written and you love to see their relationship grow. it makes you root for them more. also itadori is so fucking adorable in this (he always is) but he is literal golden retriever oh my God sisgdgsgssggs. when i read it again after a kind stranger helped me find it again i didn't read it as an xreader but just for the story and the writing skills.

ok this one contains smut so beware. this is an xreader and focuses on the reader's relationship with suguru that starts off as enemies and then, well you have to read to know what happens because it's still updating. i was trying to find some good suguru college au fics and this fits the criteria for me just fine. this is how i imagine suguru and iwnjsbshs this muah love it oh my Goddddddd. this is very well written and the way it grows is chef's kiss. i can't say much because we are only on chapter 8 but give it a shot!

this. this! this is the best tokyo revengers fanfic i have ever read in my life. this is about Draken and his life and how glossed over it is. this is not a romance fic at all. not an xreader too. this has a female!oc. but just please read this, i promise, you won't regret it. this broke my heart, made me actually cry. and also opened my eyes on how in ever happy tokyo rev timeline or story, draken never receives the childhood he deserves. i honestly felt like a jerk for not thinking about it before. but oh my God, author if you ever read this just know, that i love you with all my heart. thank you so much for this masterpiece.

i was looking for cute, fluffy mitsuya fics but i landed on this💀. this is still cute and fluffy and steamy mitsuya fic but! this is so much more than that. i read the first chapter and that's it. now i am trapped. every day i wait for an update of this fic (this is still an ongoing fic but it has 68 chapters so go read it!). the story, the writing skills, the great planning of how the story would go, the motives of the reader, the reader itself! oh my God the reader itself. i would have an instant crush on her tbh. but when i tell you, every time the reader and mitsuya interact it gives me goosebumps, shivers, moans. i have never felt that in any fic. fuck. why i find this fic perfect for me is because it has all the headcanons i have in it. this has everything i ever wanted to read about in one single fic. this is a blessing in all honesty.

internship at bonten (wow fun!) by agosu (Ao3)

if you like dangerous men with shady jobs treating you as their own child and acting like you have 7(?) or more fathers then this fic is for you. the dynamics between the reader and all the bonten members is chef's kiss. this is kind of my comfort fic. it is realistic and still not realistic. this is the only bonten fic which is wholesome asf. read the tags carefully before reading.

9. Zetsu - Does anyone ship Zetsu? No. Get out of here, Zetsu.

8. Pein - I think the connection here would be like. Similar Traumas (tm) and I know some people like this but I don't LMAO. That or missing-nin!Kakashi joins Akatsuki because he likes what Pein is selling philosophically, and it turns into one of those "loyal follower sets themselves apart in order for leader to notice them Romantically" which is another dynamic I know some like but I don't.

7. Kisame - Kisame is Chill For An Evil Villain and I think he'd admire Kakashi's philosophy of ninja who abandon their comrades being less than trash. He'd be annoyed but not lose his mind over some of Kakashi's more annoying traits. But, idk, this ship doesn't really have enough Spice for me.

6. Itachi - I like the fanon that Itachi and Kakashi were friendly in ANBU, and for a long time I liked the idea of them running into each other years later and reconnecting in a more shippy way. But I have rotated and rotated this and I cannot make it work in a shippy way. I've read some fics and they else seem to just not have.... a spark? a Spice? There's something missing. I just like them more with a platonic dynamic.

5. Sasori - There are some interesting parallels and contrasts and vague plot connections between these two, but oh my GOD is it hard to fit them all together in a compelling way. There's probably something in "Your father killed my parents and it fucked me up for life" vs "Yeah well, then he also killed my father and fucked me up for life" but you will have to work so hard to extract it. Sasori and Kakashi are antisocial weirdos in opposing ways and GETTING them to the point where you can do anything is so hard.

4. Kakuzu - Despite fighting each other, canon failed to produce any emotional connection at all between Kakuzu and Kakashi, which is unfair to us all. Kakuzu is ranked here because he's the first person on this list I can see getting into bed with Kakashi without the writer having to do a shit ton of work. Kakuzu fucks. Kakashi fucks. I think under the right circumstances they'd fuck each other. If I wrote it, I'd have a Catfishing AU where they're both trying to lure the other one out to collect Dat Bounty but they're doing it via the lonely hearts section of a newspaper. Anyway their public personas don't impress each other but once they switch to private letters they both realize they're both weird kinky freaks. Kakuzu WAS trying to catfish you in that he lying about his age and name and sent a fake photo, but somehow he was not lying about the tentacles.

3. Hidan - I think Kakashi and Hidan would make eye contact across a bar and then go hook up. I just think they're both like this. Maybe they run into each other again later and are like, "fuck it, why not?" It's a very straight forward relationship and both somehow miss all the ways the other one is completely unhinged. ALTERNATIVELY, Hidan thinking Kakashi's suffering and wallowing is so, so beautiful.

2. Deidara - Okay. Do you remember his "sees Itachi for the first time" face? I think Deidara would make this face at a raikiri. And as we all know, Deidara is at his cutest when screaming because someone is actively trolling him, and Kakashi loves trolling people. I don't think Deidara would be very impressed with Kakashi's dedication to a never ending mourning period, BUT I think there's room for interesting character growth on both sides here. Also I just think Kakashi should fuck him. As a little treat

I. Konan - Okay. Listen. My ideal Kakashi het ship is "weird damp man and woman who would crumple him up and wring him out like a paper towel." This is them. Kakashi literally only knows how to take care of his loved ones by going out and killing their enemies and Konan thinks this is so sweet. She doesn't NEED him to, but he does go out and kill people she hates and he's not even weird about it. Kakashi murdered more specific enemies of the Ame or Akatsuki than the Akatsuki. Very cute. Also they'd look good together. ALSO the pairing of her blank, judgmental stare and his trolly grin. Excellent vibes all around

     *’d muses are going to be put on an “archive” sideblog...because I’ve put a lot of work into those OCs, and they still play major roles in A Light Amongst Shadows, which is (and always will be) the main verse for @hyuuchiha. The only muses I’ll be leaving on that blog are Sasuke, Hinata, and their kids Tenkai and Chikyū. They will also retain their connections to the muses on @kusunokihime because that’s how ALAS works. The above-listed muses (and more beyond that) are still vital characters in the ALAS verse, and will likely still be mentioned or played in the background in ALAS-verse threads on either blog. So they’re not COMPLETELY gone, but I just...need to trim things up. 

     I’ve also got a map that lists out many of the main characters and their connections (but not all). I might expand on it later (and the text is still a WIP), but it does help elaborate on how the verse fits everyone together!

     I’m hoping condensing my muse pool will help me from feeling overwhelmed and burnt out. Those I’m keeping are my strongest muses, and it just makes more sense to me to focus on that. Maybe someday I’ll have time and inspo again to work on the ALAS fic, but for now I want to try to focus more on RP, and drabbles inspired by RP. I may also do guest days to bring a muse from the cut lists back every so often, but I want to pace myself in regards to muses.

     To anyone who will miss the cut muses, or only followed because of them: I’m sorry, but I gotta do what I gotta do. And if you doing the same means unfollowing, no hard feelings. If the muse(s) you followed either blog for are going to be cut, then that’s just how it is, and either way, thanks for being around while you were! This does mean that any threads or asks with those muses will, unfortunately, have to be dropped.

That he’s this really cool collected character who is actually dorky. He’s not just the standard cool character who gets annoyed at any display of dorkyness. He loves it. He THRIVES in it

The story required Team Seven to go their separate ways and there is not a damn thing right Kakashi could have done to change it because this is where each kid NEEDED to go for them to get the in depth story that would fit them. Literally the only one screwed over by this split is Sakura and that’s cuz Kishi decided not to give her a meaningful character arc that results in her genuinly catch up to the boys. It’s not Kakashi’s failings as a teacher he could not have saved Sakura from kishi’s piss poor treatment of women’s stories

one (or more) headcanon(s) i have about this character

He looks up to Dai because in a time when he was faced with so much hatred directed at his father THROUGH HIM Dai was the only one who was kind for the sake of being kind. He had no reason to be kind to Kakashi but Dai is a sweetheart who would never hate a child for something they have no control over. He was a kindness rarely afforded Kakashi from those older than him (or tbh just those who didn’t know him)

Kakashi sucks at wind style so he doesn’t use it much, but he was still able to master it because he worked his butt off to do so. Will he use it often? Not at all, but he is one if very few who has learned all five elements and that’s actually something he can be proud if (though he’s usually not urge)

one character i love seeing them interact with

Gai, Yamato, Naruto, Sasuke, Sakura literally everyone he interacts with on a friendly level i love them all

one character i wish they would interact with/interact with more

Kushina. I genuinely think she loved Minato’s student’s and that she would have felt bad for Kakashi and wanted to reach out to him but found it difficult

Him and Yamato can be found huddled up against a tree leaned against each other with one of their eyes open an almost any mission in which building a house or being in a place of warmth is not possible

You won’t catch them so close on a mission if there’s a roof over their head, but if there isn’t they’re absolutely sharing heat
