Tobirama being a kid magnet forreal, Every time he is in the academy children will always jump on him and gave him a hug and Tobirama just let him. Everytime he visits at a clan compound, the children are jumping on him and being clingy while the adults are in a heart attack. He even visited the Uchiha compound once and he was swarmed by hyperactive Uchiha children asking him to show them Science and he can’t say no to children. That is his weakness. Madara is confused.

You know those people who you can just TELL are good with kids? I knew someone who, no matter where they went, they ALWAYS had cats appearing. Like they moved into a new house? Next morning three cats were sat on their bedroom windowsill, I couldn't believe it.

Tobirama doesn't LOOK, to other adults, like he's good with kids but kids absolutely flock to him the way cats do to my friend.

He literally cannot go anywhere without three or more children making a beeline - "no, no, no that's THE WHITE DEMON, what are you-" ..... "Oh." - for him.

Maybe it's the calm but strangely magnetic vibe, like kids magnetized to a pissed off looking cat.

Maybe it's the fur collar they desperately want to touch.

Meanwhile, Madara makes babies cry - which makes him embarrassed and huffy - and kids get shy and hide from Hashirama - which makes him wail, which makes it worse lmao

Can't stop thinking about some sort of Actor AU with Shisui reading for the first time the script of his death and having a whole reaction like, "THAT'S how I die? What?? Suicide, seriously??" talking with Itachi about how terribly written the scene is and arguing that there are so many more ways of him to die better than this! In ways that would make more sense for his character! And Itachi listens to it all while nodding because yeah, Shisui's completely right

Sasuke's actor is actually played by Shisui's actor's little brother and it's this running joke that he likes Itachi's actor so much more 😂 (ino's actor taking insult to this and wanting her dad to take shisui home with them for real)

Itachi's mother is actually mikoto's actress who was the ideal casting but wouldn't let her son, who did adverts and stuff as a child model, attend the set without her... She makes filming a bit of a nightmare

Kakashi goes full Robert Patterson and starts wildly lying in interviews, his character was supposed to be way more intimidating, like a proper military hardass, but this is what you get when you cast an indie actor who proceeds to wear the strangest face coverings to all promotions (including a paper bag with cut out eyes to "preserve Kakashi's modesty") (the mask was also the actors idea, citing it was mysterious and dehumanising to his character... Only to later reveal it's because he didn't want to take his lipring out)

Kisame spends about 6 hours in hair and makeup every morning and he has to wear one of those huge cgi suits to make him taller (like Beast in live action beauty and the beast) and the struggle to take him seriously is REAL

Kana the crow... Is this huge green lump that shisui has to talk to so seriously, like a bull machine, and Akira is this stuffed green puppet lmao Kakashi please stop doing a David Attenborough commentary impression off camera

Danzo's actor was a huge heartthrob when he was younger and everyone who recognises him is both impressed and horrified at the transformation

Fugaku's actor becomes a meme for being photographed at several rallies standing off with police only to get cast as a Shinobi cop 😂

Sarutobi's actor is the guy they ALWAYS cast to play Old Wise Man (no one is quite sure what he did before he was old enough for these roles)

Tenzo's actor is a famous singer and this is his - very unexpected - breakout role and his fans almost break the barrier at the red carpet when he walks out

Can I ask who's Obi and what's AnS? I've seen you mention them sometimes and I think I've seen you reblog things on it? But I never looked it up, but since you have amazing tastes in fictional men you got me curious now

AnS/SWTRH: Akagami no Shirayuki-hime/Snow White with the Red Hair is a manga (with only one season of anime rip) and it was actually my first real manga love. That's right folks, my Obi love predates Shisui!

I don't want to spoil it too much for you if you decide to have a go at it but, basics are:

Shirayuki is a herbalist in the Kingdom of Tanbarun who was born with striking crimson hair, which garners a lot of attention for her. When she's forced to run, she makes it over the border into the neighbouring kingdom of Clarines as a kind of refugee. She meets and gains the aid of the Second Prince, Zen, and his two Knight aids, Kiki and Mitsuhide. Shirayuki and Zen are the main pairing in the anime. Shirayuki joins the gang by apprenticing as a herbalist at the Royal Infirmary.

I'll try not to devolve lol

Obi, who is the tritagonist, was hired by a minor antagonist in the castle to basically... scare Shirayuki off from 'befriending' (in the shipping way, yk?) Zen, but nothing he does works. In watching her, Obi becomes curious about the kind of stubborn, sensitive, intelligent, kind woman that Shirayuki is. Through a series of events, Obi is taken on as one of Zen's attendants, going so far as to call the prince 'Master', and becomes Shirayuki's bodyguard and partner in crime during her adventures. He refuses to address her by name and only calls her 'miss'. Obi eventually comes to fall in love with Shirayuki, which Zen is aware of but Shirayuki is not, but he loves Shirayuki and values Zen too much to even consider speaking of it, not to mention his own beliefs that he is unworthy. Obi has a very mysterious past, not just because he has a lot of dubious skills with fighting, parkour, thievery and espionage, but because we don't actually know where he's from etc. Needless to say, I am hardcore ObiYuki allllll the way.

Obi:

He's just-!!!! He's very playful and evasive and you can tell he really doesn't value himself as much as he does the people around him. Even when Knighted, he's still got this image of himself as a dirty mercenary assassin trying to get by. He's flirty, a good few people polyship him with ZenYuki, but skittish of real emotion. He touched Shirayuki's shoulder once and then couldn't sleep because he was thinking about it over and over.

He and Shirayuki are low-key high-key raising a child together (Ryuu is technically Shirayuki's apprenticeship master lol child genius) and he's such a good father figure, even if he wouldn't see it that way

Obi is really sensitive, there are so many times when Shirayuki will earnestly thank him and he'll literally just... Buffer. He can swear his fealty and make sly comments about setting his life at other's feet but the moment someone suggests that they love him back?? Evasion, freezing, side eyes, wide eyes, I'm just 😩

Obi is a badass. He's literally THE badass of the show. Zen has a sword, yeah, and Kiki could kill me and I'd thank her but... Damn. Obi is doing backflips in a spar and shit, he's literally launching himself across rooftops and scaling turrets.

Obi is actually just a really wonderful person? He listens to people. He has absolutely no background or real interest in herbalism but guess what he'll fucking do? Run around on little adventures with Ryuu and Shirayuki, repotting plants under their direction, wading through ice caves to find flowers, helping them in the lab to distill essences... And he's listening and brainstorming with them! It would be so easy for his character to have passed off on it, maybe turned it into a "I'm here but not mentally" joke or maybe even just pushed to the back of these scenes but no, Obi's right in there all the time to help. Shirayuki and Zen have relationship issues? Obi doesn't even think about trying for his own agenda, he just puts supporting them (Shirayuki first, then Zen) as the top priority. Kiki and Mitsuhide in a bind? Obi will come out with a line but of course he would help them, watching carefully with concealed concern. Later, when Obi has his own duties, he's still heavily involved with the day to day research of his friends, making friends with other lab researchers outside of being Shirayuki's tagalong!

So... That's Obi! My OG babygirl!❤️✨

Shisui nii-chan and Ino Imouto AU but when Sasuke told Ino the truth of Shisui’s death Sasuke expect her to scream loudly in grief but Ino just stared at him coldly, silent cold wrath that could make a lesser men running. (And Sasuke would rather run too.) He could feel her chakra in cold fury in the interrogation room. Itachi sometimes warned him that a woman’s wrath is a terrifying sight and he didn’t believe it until now.

Ahhh fuck

You know what this calls for?

ROOT vs. Ino AU

Ino refuses to believe Shisui is dead and decides, as the nine-year-old heir to the mind-fucking Clan, to investigate it herself. She breaks into her father's office, she breaks into ANBU to recruit SQ2, she drags her classmates into it and skips a lot of schooling... she visits Itachi at the Station, before he gets bail and is shut up behind the Uchiha Compound walls, and ends up making friends with Shino, who lost his own pseudo-big brother in suspicious circumstances and has a hive that can track the last, fading traces of Shisui's chakra....

They go to the Uchiha shrine, Ino finds cane marks in the grass, before they're caught and scolded by the Uchiha. They're picked up by certain ANBU who may or may not be Squad Two (who are also not coping at all...), who exchange hand signs as they drag the two kids home. They obviously don't know that Shisui had been teaching Ino some secret signs she's not supposed to know, as they talk about the Uchiha butting heads with the Village Elders and this incident not helping the friction.

Ino realises that maybe something really deep and ugly is going on.

Ino thinks Shisui has gone missing, there's no body so she absolutely refuses to think he's dead and there's no way he'd CHOOSE to leave her, but... Shisui had a big bounty on him, so most enemies would have cashed it in. And! And! His eyes are super special, so he's obviously been kidnapped!

And, in her logic then.... Shisui was the one to bring Tenzo around that first time, skittish and silent and so disturbed by a simple shared meal, and Ino isn't an idiot, she knows what it means when the plants in her mother's garden respond to Tenzo's presence, but no one in the village seems to care that the last Senju is hiding in ANBU so where was he before all this??? No one seems to know he exists but he's right there!

The only way to get any further is... to snoop around the Hokage Tower to find where Tenzo came from and where Shisui could be now instead.

She's caught by ANBU, of course, and brought before Sarutobi, who is sympathetic as he knows that Inoichi is not coping, but firm that this cannot happen again. Ino demands to know if the Sandaime is aware that really special, talented young Shinobi are going missing (meaning Shino's Torune, Tenzo, and now Shisui). Ino bluffs and says that she's there with her dad's permission, that T&I are on the tail of the culprit, but Danzo is also there and his eyes are very very sharp.

That night ROOT come for her and Ino wakes in a bunker with her previously-KIA cousin Fū leaning over her and the boy she is now sure must be Shino's adopted brother. Will she find Shisui kept captive here too??!?

(Is Shisui dead or did Danzo catch him first???? Who knows!)

That morning, with Ino's bed empty, Inoichi loses his shit

Kushina mentoring Shisui sounds amazingly chaotic and I already love it

Fugaku agreed at first because to have an Uchiha being mentored by an Uzumaki who is also the Hokage's wife who is also the Jinchuuriki sounded like a good political thing at first, but he regrets it as soon as he realizes that Shisui+seals sounds like a dangerously unholy combination

(Kushina teaches him all kinds of prank-related seals together with a bunch of things good for fights and missions and it's even more chaos from that point forward)

Kushina: he's so speedy! And nimble! And innocent looking! He could swear up and down that south was north and most people, including the Sandaime, would believe him! I've never had so much fucking fun in all my life! Tomorrow we're going to convince everyone that the Kyuubi in my seal is actually a weird looking rabbit before attempting a space time ninjutsu to save uzushio before it can fall- who knew Shisui-kun's mastery of Shunshin would be so useful? Plot twist the HOPE AU for the Actor AU is just Shisui&Friends fed up with the bullshit that is the OG Naruto script and they decide to make a side-series What If scenario all by themselves... It starts as a sort of joke (maybe an internet series at first?) but then it gets serious and it gets taken off of YT or wherever they were uploading it originally in favor of it becoming an actual series

Naruto is this huge film franchise but Kakashi is one of the few actors who have been in every single one of the films (the kids are obviously covered by a medley of very good child actors) so he's kinda THE face of the series and hes also a massive troll and a liar so he starts this rumor about shisui being originally this stunt man who had to step into the acting role for Sasuke's tragic backstory cameos... And the writers liked him so much that they're doing a multiverse where Shisui didn't die but his body was transported into an alternative reality because of his magic power stuff (Kakashi is very... Uh irreverent lol)

Interviewer: what an incredible finale to the most famous franchise of this century

Kakashi, paper bag on his head: oh it's not over

Interviewer: wh.. what? It's not!?

Kakashi: nah, my buddy Shisui is actually alive lol, it's this crazy inception-type situation (🤡)

Naturally, the world loses it's tits

Shisui, absolutely not prepared for this, gets jumped by the press pack when he's collecting his mail at his shitty little city apartment and stupidly sticks his foot in it

What Shisui actually says: oh uh I don't think I can talk about it

What shisui means: can I phone a friend real quick

What the world hears: I SIGNED A CONFIDENTIALITY AGREEMENT ON THIS PROJECT, ITS TRUE, ITS REAL, IT'S HAPPENING

Inoichi, questioned at a different premier: oh I'd love to work with the Naruto actors again, I really enjoyed the energy on set and I think Shisui is a really exciting new face on the scene, I would love to work together, reprising my role :)

Jokes aside the idea of Shisui smartly winning a place as Fugaku's right-hand man and using Mangekyō fuckery against ROOT is so cool? Also Fugaku doesn't strike me as someone who would be a super bad Hokage- would he be the best? No. But would he be the worst? I don't think so, especially with Shisui at his side

Maybe with time things will get better and Konoha will accept Fugaku as their new Hokage. I know I would 🤭

It depends on how you judge success/badness/goodness specifically towards leadership in Narutoverse!

Disclaimer! This is all my opinion! I don't want to be lectured! I'll keep deleting bullshit!

I'm gonna try really hard not to start spiraling into historical analysis of power structures and perspective bias etc etc but knowing me that's what's going to happen anyway so let's just get into it 🤣

So, fandom usually looks at Hokage candidates by their raw strength which makes sense, considering all the talk of "Strongest in the Village" and looking at who we have in Canon:

Hashirama was the God of Shinobi

Tobirama was a genius with Jutsu and assumed to be a good policy maker too

Sarutobi was 'the professor' and was pretty spry against Orochimaru even as an old man

Minato was a genius sealing master and the 'fastest man alive'

Tsunade could crush mountains and perform healing miracles

Kakashi is a (you guessed it) genius and the man of a thousand Jutsu

Naruto is literally the Jinchuuriki Favourite Child of "God-God" Sage

But, honestly, discounting Tobirama... Who here is actually fit to be a leader and not just...a glorified general?

We need to understand what the Hokage actually does. Jokes about paperwork aside, how does the mantel of Kage fit within the broader sociopolitical framework, what role do their advisors and council play into the system?

So let's make some assumptions.

From examples across time and space, we know that Generals can be just as much in power as a civilian politician or the biological heir to a dynasty. I'd recommend looking at the Hokage as a hodge-podge of these:

The Hokage are all connected to each other. Hashirama-(brother)->Tobirama-(student)->sarutobi -(student's student)->Minato-(sensei's teammates/saru's other student)->Tsunade-(predecessor's student)->Kakashi-(student, sensei's son)-> Naruto

They're military leaders and the power structure of the villages are based on this Shinobi prowess

They are also in control of their civilian population (if there is a civilian council, I doubt they report to anyone but the Hokage) and they mediate with Daimyo etc.

Hashirama was the Senju Clan Head, a mantel that maybe passed to Tobirama but more likely passed to Hashirama's mysterious children.

Tobirama was, at the very least, his brother's closest advisor. That's some political practice, right there.

Sarutobi, we assume but then...maybe not!, was the pretty important to the Sarutobi. And there seems to be a fair few of them looking at that one panel of them all breathing smoke and shit (assuming that they're not just a huge pack of brothers but most are part of their own family unit)

I don't think Asuma has a dozen brothers. Maybe he does but, frankly, I'd be disappointed if they all didn't have daddy issues with the Sandaime as well.

I'm going off tangent🙃

MY POINT is that Sarutobi possibly had some experience with bureaucracy before becoming Sandaime. Maybe Tobirama punished them all with paper pushing, idk

Minato.... I don't know what to tell you but I'm tempted just to...skip... him because frankly his term of office was so short he probably hadn't even redecorated or got the smell of smoke out of the furniture yet! Regardless, being smart with seals doesn't mean he's a good judge of politics, economics, or social welfare! He gets brownie points for being a thinker, tho

(Does Konoha function as a welfare state? Surely with the injuries on a regular basis, as well as the crazy working schedules and the turn over of retiree veterans, they've got to have some impressive infrastructure- No, don't get me started-)

Tsunade. Right, listen, she's a doctor yeah but this woman really had no clan left to learn leadership for and she's been wandering the continent for a decade in a drunken stupor. I love her but there's a reason she's smashing desks and it's because she's been confronted with problems she can't pummel or resuscitate. Tsunade didn't get a medical degree (did she????) just to have to study MORE bullshit. She's frankly wasted here but better her than some of those fuck-wits.

Kakashi. 🥹 Leading the Hatake? No. ANBU? Does Captaincy really count as anything but even more field experience. Result: Why (i love you but SEND THE MAN TO THERAPY AND GO TO THE SPA)

Naruto. Well... They wouldn't let him jump from Genin to the Hokage. Is this because they know he's so uneducated and needs to go back to school or is this purely because you HAVE to climb the pecking order in order to hit the top. Both? Both is good

So there's just... A lot here. And I can speculate to fucking hell and back but there's very little actually elaborated on in Canon. What do they even do in the Hokage Tower? Is it just all mission paperwork or does Konoha function more like... Idk a principality? What is the involvement of the Daimyo?

This is where fanfiction reaaally takes the reigns and I love that for them ✨😤

So what would make a "bad" Kage?

Danzo.

Danzo is a SHIT Kage and not just because I hate him. We're looking at someone who poisoned the previous - relatively successful - leadership, worked with foreign powers to manipulate other nations as well as his own village, orchestrated and then ordered the slaughter of thousands of Konohan citizens, kidnapping and experimentation, sabotaging political rivals (whether they considered themselves rivals is a different matter all together), bolstered social conflict and international tensions, bloodline theft and forming a private army who were indoctrinated and sealed to his will-!

So if that's the "shit" end of the scale, where do the other Hokage line up?

Hashirama: congrats on building the village! However, it's really contested whether you actually met your new allies on equal standing and it's left a lot of social pressure that will explode down the line 🥺 you get points for spirit but the execution (whoops) might prove a bit wobbily

Tobirama: congrats on being the best of an....interesting bunch. You seem to have had a good head on your shoulders and, pre-founding antics aside, you've committed to the bit. Unfortunately, you have an evil student :/ oh, right, and those social issues? You're probably making them worse

Sarutobi: well. You sat there. Congrats on living so long, I guess. You taught a few loose canons big names, you signed your name on the top of the exam, you held onto peace for a good while by the skin of your teeth. Unfortunately any good you mightve done or process made has been massively underscored by allowed your live-in nuclear-weapon-child to be abused and reviled, your students have either fucked off or were chased out after performing atrocities against the population, your teammate tries to get the last student of your (brief) successor to kill you... Yeah. It's a lot. Oh, also your own son flipped you the bird for a decade to go live in the Capitol instead. Oh, yeah, and you must either live in a bubble of ignorance (ignoring that crystal ball you've got going on) or you're wilfully ignoring Danzo squirreling funds to his private army ;/ all in all? Not great signs of leadership control, you rotten motherfucker

Minato. Is it even fair to list him when he martyred himself before anything could happen? All i can say is... Yikes. Also congrats on dying so quickly that you were immortalised as the faultless golden hero of the village ☺️ all in all, Minato is just lucky to be here

Tsunade: um. She fucked off for decades, loudly proclaiming her disgust/revulsion of Konoha and how stupid anyone would have to be to become Hokage, and hasn't exactly been graceful or pleased since being strong armed into taking the job. I'm not saying I don't sympathise but at the same time... Not a good start. Idk about anyone else but if my (dictator?) leader loudly hated the job and the village and had also gone AWOL for years living it up whilst the village was kinda imploding... I would be pretty resentful. Girl Power can only fly you so high 😔✊

Kakashi: I'm sorry that they made you do this 🥹 you are smart and you've seen a lot of shit but... He might be long-suffering for his duty but, like with Tsunade, you've got to weigh up if they'd be better elsewhere. Kakashi is high on the list of Hokage we've got to work with, however. Well. If you ignore that he was hated for most of his life, first for his father and then for being a little brat, and then for being an "eye thief", and then for being a Friend Killer, and then for being a Pervert- well. His reputation abroad is much better but there's a reason most leaders have, at least loosely, a cult of personality (Narutoverse is bad for this, btw). He has similar problems to Tsunade but he wins out on loyalty.

Naruto. I'm not going here because it's Boruto territory and that's a hard pass.

So what makes a bad Hokage? The usual things, I'd imagine:

pathological power grabbing (war mongering isn't good for your own minions and it's not good for international friends)

ignoring the wants and needs of the wider population (revolutionaries 🤷)

Inconsistency (people watch their leaders extremely carefully and so do their enemies)

lack of attention (^^^)

lack of control (you're running a military dictatorship, commit to the bit)

too much control (Danzo, I'm looking at you)

selfishness (it always bites in the ass)

pure ignorance (Sarutobi, I'm looking at you)

a focus on the brute side of things instead of the subtler arts (Sarutobi isn't brute strength but, unfortunately, he's on the other end where appeasement is making things worse)

So, looking at this, what makes a good Hokage?

Someone who knows what they're doing? 🥴

support for both the backbone of society (Shinobi and Clans) as well as attention to the majority and minority (civilians hold a lot of sway in the every day realities of Konoha, don't let the Jutsu fool you) and knowing when to invest so neglect doesn't bite you in the ass (or rip everything up by the roots - ROOT, lol)

You need intimidation/respect (they are mercenaries after all) abroad as well as devotion and reverence at home (good old propaganda to keep the masses contained)

looking at the various downfalls of previous Hokage, you gotta deal with threats close to you with scary efficiency.

Another disclaimer: this is a profile for a leader in Naruto. I don't want to hear shit about me promoting aggressive foreign policy or totalitarian ideology, omfg

So! Bearing all this in mind, and incorporating an awareness of canon context... Would Fugaku be a good or bad Hokage?

I think he'd be a very important and decisive one. Good? That's a little more nuanced. Let's get into it-

Fugaku has the "good" qualities:

He's Clan Head, so about as much experience as any of the others had, but then he's also Police Chief (ACAB, whoops) so we're dealing with someone with intimate knowledge of the letter of the law, navigating Konohan crime and punishment as well as legal bureaucracy, and he's already a direct authority within the village and - get this - with the civilians.

Fugaku didn't personally want the Coup but he's a leader listening to his clan and they're getting desperate (and, therefore, more explosive). He's managed to hold his own against all these influences around him. Should he have completely shut them down? Maybe, but then what if they tried to usurp him? The Uchiha Clan can't exactly afford to split into fractions

He's called Wicked Eye for a (mysterious Mangekyou) reason. The fact that his skills aren't discussed in canon only gives us even more leeway to make him a total BAMF. He could also, apparently, go head to head with Golden Boy Minato. Am I sensing a badass? I think I am

He's surrounded by trustworthy BAMFS. Hashirama had Mito and Tobirama (Madara too, not to incite commentary, lets stay focused). The others struggled with this: Tobirama's successor is a little bitch and Danzo was devil spawn, Sarutobi was trapped between Danzo and his wild-card/war criminal students, Minato's Kushina died with him and everyone else doesn't seem on the level, Kakashi's bestie is literally a major antagonist, Naruto is (BORUTO REDACTED). Fugaku, however, not only has a bamf Clan who seem pretty devoted to him as a leader (we don't see a lot of dissent) but he's got Itachi and Shisui right there. They had a problem with the Coup, not necessarily with Fugaku himself although I think (looking at their characters) interpersonal strife would be set aside in favour of the bigger picture. All in all, there's a reason why he was thought of as the 'father' of his Clan (but what if you have daddy issues 👀)

Does Fugaku also show signs of being a bad Hokage?

Well, the timing might prove deadly against him. A revolution when the wider population is so anti-Uchiha would tear Konoha in two. But... That's if you're thinking that a Coup would be... Well, what you'd imagine. But if it's performed by Uchiha, the masters of genjutsu and manipulation? Taking liberties with Fugaku's Wicked Eyes and possible OC Uchiha characters, who knows if it would be a seamless transition? (In a fic, maybe Shisui's use of Kotoamatsukami on Danzo and ROOT would be the tip of the iceberg on what happened in the Uchiha Revolution. The Sandaime deciding to united the fractions of Konoha with Fugaku as his successor....?)

Fugaku isn't power snatching and, if he was, it wouldn't be directly for himself like Danzo's is. Danzo might sugarcoat it as an ideological difference, a variation in his vision of Konoha compared to others, but it's really all about him. Fugaku feels... vindicated.

Fugaku wouldn't be unwilling, uncomfortable, under qualified, or underpowered.

Personality-wise? He'd be like Tobirama, who i think was the best previous Hokage. Would this turn Konoha into a police state? Wasn't it always that in some form, anyway?

Overall, I think Fugaku would be a good Hokage, if he was extremely careful and played his cards right (and, considering his dedication and shrewdness, there's no reason to think he wouldn't be)

We all been knew 🥴 to me, Shisui is just the perfect kind of character to play protagonist with, with enough badassery and charm to come out on top but with the sweetness and the last scraps of his idealism to soften his edges. Kishi, however, threw him down the toilet at the nearest opportunity (which was just so 🤌bullshit🤌 I'm almost - almost- impressed) because he realised he Gone Fucked Up making this amazingly powerful character with no hint of him in prior work so 🤡 canon is dead, Shisui lives forever

Finn (Star Wars movies)

Anyone who's had the misfortune to follow me or has browsed my AO3 bookmarks knows I'm a wreck for Commander Cody and for Obi-Wan but I'm not choosing either of them? How??? Because Finn... FINN, he was literally raised to be canon fodder but he had this deep rooted fear that what they were doing was wrong and he didn't shoot and he took that fear and he knew he had to run. So often we wanna be brave in those moments but in actual fact we just panic, which is what Finn did... And yet he was so brave too? He saved Poe, he fought viciously for Ray, he joined the Rebellion, he met these people for minutes at a time but had already impressed them on his soul, on who he was going to be (and he'd only had a name as of that day???). Finn should've been the protagonist of that trilogy, the sequels were just...well, and I'll die on this hill that Finn's force sensitivity reaalllly should've meant something 😩 I love so many SWs characters but Finn is really the one that got me to actually attempt my own Fics too!

okay okay so I made a joke on a server I'm on because I asked about Tenten's chakra affinity because I don't think she has a canon one and I was wondering what people thought it was and the only answer I got was 'she doesn't have one, pure metal flows through her veins' and anyway I'm saying magnet release Tenten, Sunese immigrant Tenten, Tenten who can grab her weapons and redirect them with a flare of chakra, Tenten who can hide her kekkei genkai with her skills with weaponry

Ooooh this is cool, I usually just settle for fire nature (because it's the most common for konohans plus hello cool possibilities for blacksmithing context or burning seals etc) or wind nature, as a way to manipulate her weapons mid-air (plus extra drama for her match with Temari) but metal bending sounds good... reminds me of ATLA Toph, in the best way I mean haha

What do you think would Fox and Shisui think of each other if they ever met?

Oh anon.... Honestly I love both of these characters to pieces but imagining them meeting...!!!

Fox would think Shisui is... Someone who needs watching. This is a guy who is pretty young, by nat-born standards, but obviously frighteningly skilled, and the origins of those skills would be REALLY suspect. He is also clearly lying a lot, Fox would clock this immediately, and Fox doesn't like bullshit but especially not Force Bullshit. However Shisui is earnest and protective of individuals as well as big-picture peace, and he's much more brutal than the Jedi which will appeal to a man like Fox who doesn't have a Jedi General and has been pushed to the edge by the Senate, so I think Fox would warm up to him. Given Shisui's strong moral code but his willingness to be absolutely brutal, and his familiarity with death and his trump-card experience with mental/sensory manipulation, I think he would be a great ally for Fox and Fox would eventually know this. Fox might be frustrated out of his mind but Shisui is now in his inner circle of Ride Or Die and this is amazing ✨

Shisui would see Fox, the horrible circumstances of his birth and the abuse from the Senate (let's be real here, I'm running how I want this to run and IDGAF if it's more fanon than canon), and want to help. (Shisui, looking around: is no one gonna fix this mess? Also Shisui: *leaps in without waiting for an answer*). He has experience with investigation, both in ANBU and the Uchiha Police, and it's almost impossible for him to keep his nose out 😅 Fox is strong and gruff but he's no where near as... highbrow? as Shisui's Clansmen, who wore their heritage and position as a shield as much as a badge of honour, whilst the clones are proud bht very careful with their identity... Shisui keeps bracing for political maneuvering and yet Fox is... refreshing. He's so protective of his brothers, not like the Uchiha were defensive, because Fox would do ANYTHING for his brothers and so long as they're alive and whole etc then that's what matters but he's also tied so strongly to his sense of duty that theyre dealing with the crumbling Senate anyway and Shisui is kinda starry eyed for that kind of love and responsibility? Shisui is HERE for Fox being a total king of protectiveness

Well now I'm thinking 'palpatine gets pissed by Maul acting out and tries to SUMMON a new slave/apprentice only to get Shisui who snaps his neck on instinct and this leaves Shisui, who looks like That Sith The Jedi Have Been Looking For, pinned as the assassin of Darling Supreme Chancellor (not exactly wrong so the Force isn't registering any lies lmao), being chased by Fox, investigating the murder, and Anakin, who is absolutely not interested in the rule of law

So Shisui springs up, like the universe-shattering lunatic he is, and fucks up canon BAD. fox is like WHO IS THIS WEIRDO RUNNING UP WALLS AND BABBLING AN UNKNOWN LANGUAGE AND MAKING MY LIFE EVEN HARDER. shisui is like MAN THIS COP IS EVEN WORSE AT RIDING MY ASS THAN MY UNCLE AND THAT IS SAYING SOMETHING. Cue mutual begrudging (for Fox) respect and mounting frustration as they run around like *Scooby Doo Chase music* whilst Palpatine's corpse is smouldering in the BG.

I think Fox, who is a hardass but also is low-key like 'Fuck Palpatine', would be like THIS IS MY MURDERER, IDGAF WHAT SKYWALKER IS WAILING, DONT SHOOT MY SUSPECT. which means that, naturally, Shisui tries to extend the olive branch of working together to figure out the truth, Fox is like 'oh god no now I am believing in this Force bullshit', and you have 'law-abiding/jaded/hurt/bamf hard-shell-soft-center character' forced into partnering with 'wanted-criminal/jaded/hurt/bamf sunshine character' and I think this is an adventure for the books👏✨

You ever just think about the chaos that would happen if adult! Shisui (around the current time of hope au) and kid! Shisui (just recently started working with Inoichi) got temporarily swapped in their times?

Like the squad goofing off only for one of Raidou's practice seals going off wrong and suddenly a very awkward group of anbu find themselves having to take care of little kid Shisui who is tiny, recently traumatized, doesn't technically know or trust them, and has yet to truly be properly socialized outside of his clan and then on the other side you have adult Shisui being thrown back to a time Danzo is still around without any of his friends/family/allies and having an unknown, limited time frame to try and change things

I've only just seen this ask (😅) but omg

Older!Shisui would only be a few years younger than Inoichi so that would be deeply hilarious because Inoichi has only just started to realise that he's gotta actually, you know, commit to being healthier and being a stable adult role model (parent) and then BAM! This full grown Uchiha, claiming to be his student, starts ripping into Konoha and dragging Inoichi along like he's not insane???? An Uchiha who knows waaaaay too much about Inoichi's Clan secrets and his horribly complicated relationship with his family and (Inoichi, in the future, fit very well with the "boiled frog" analogy. He didn't quite realise, until in hindsight, how deep into the bullshit Shisui had dragged him as they grew together. It's, ah, a shock😂) also lmao Minato is still alive, so is Kushina, Kakashi is a moody little shit and he's so unbelievably angry that this cheerful random Uchiha came up to him and scuffed him like a (naughty puppy) seasoned Hatake 😂

I am rereading UDB + NoT, and I am back to going crazy over it, I literally think about it daily😅 I love your writing so much💜

I hope you don't mind but I wanted to ask how/where the chunin exams are held at this point in time (like is it comparable to canon? are the villages hosting them in rotation? are they sending teams to other villages for them?).

We got a feel on how tense things are right now between the villages with Shisui's "trip" around lightning country (+ with Kumo's attempt at getting the byakugan being only 4 or 5 years in the past) and Kiri (+ Kiri going through it right now with the bloodline purges). I just can’t imagine them having games like in canon and set themselves up to that security nightmare....

Also completely unrelated thought -> in one of you posts you said that Shisui had a big growth spurt in anbu and it's just really funny to me that he might have been around Genma’s and Raidou's height when they first became a team and like three missions later he was a head taller than them😭

Absolutely, I love answering asks especially about my fics✨ The exams are definitely on a smaller scale, I imagine that with Kiri hemorrhaging Shinobi, Ame just about getting their feet under them, and the upheaval in Konoha, most villages are running exams only in coalition with their strongest allies. So, for example, I mentioned before that Konoha has 'vassal' villages, like Yumegakure, that is politically sheltered by them? They always participate in exams together.

Sometimes, even when politics is especially spicy, the villages do organize to host larger exams, as a show of strength/confidence as much as to scout out the other's ranks. But that probably only happens after a certain amount of peacetime because otherwise who would risk letting in all their rivals, right into their base of operations and soft underbelly, and NOT expect to be massacred...????

Shisui's own Chuunin Exam was hosted in Konoha's Forest of Death (nods head to the snap shots of Ibiki's exam, since I shoehorned Shisui in there) and Suna were in attendance, possibly the only true "foreign power" there (I haven't decided)... it was quite the moment when lil baby Shisui killed both of his Suna opponents in the final rounds. Since this was only shortly after Konoha and Suna had reached a peace agreement, and it's known that Shisui's parents were killed by Suna nin during the war, the whole thing was pretty... memorable. As for how the Chuunin exams will play out in "current events" of the series? I have to ask if you somehow hacked my doc plans for spoilers 😂
