Aren't we sharing one brain right now, anon! I literally was just thinking about this particular moment because I've seen some posts from the antis using sad!Kevin in The Cabin ep in season 4 as their reasoning that Kevin actually was sad about the engagement. However, as per usual with this nonsensical ship, the antis didn't look at the context like umm, Kevin literally only mentioned that he was sad about it BECAUSE he himself doesn’t have his life together at that fudging point and he’s all lonely and alone and desperate for love that he literally just John Legend-ed a complete rando like hours before! Whereas when he ACTUALLY found out about Sophie’s engagement in s3, he sent Billy Joel tickets because he was happy for her and he was in a happy and stable relationship with Zoe apart from the kids thing.

Anyway, with the whole Madison and Elijah thing, Kevin was doing really well. He's focused on his kids and his work and Big Three Homes and everything's going well with his relationship with Madison and he's perfectly content with everything. He wasn't pursuing any romantic relationship with anyone whatsoever! Nada!

But as soon as he hears about the upcoming engagement? He absolutely FREAKS TF OUT. Desperation mixed with sadness and a little bit of madness because we all know what happened pretty much straight after the engagement and probably even before that– Kevin goes psycho and starts his dating bimbos phase yet again.

Like literally immediately after. He already had that condom girl during the twins' 2nd birthday and I'd wager that's like a couple of months give or take since finding out about the upcoming engagement or at least straight after the engagement.

Kevin actually went insane when he lost Madison forever. And of course, as we know, Sophie comes into play again (even though it makes absoflippin no sense) and we find Kevin sad and pining again because oh, there's my toxic idealised first love all happy with her husband. And there's a pregnant Madison happy with her own husband too, another blow to him and his desire for his own fam :(((

Seriously, the more we dissect everything, the worse it truly gets.
