Everyone’s favorite dysfunctional couple are good guys. Iron Fan saves a village from being destroyed by the fire brazen Wukong flung to Earth 500 years ago. In doing so, fetus Red Boy is curse or possessed or whatever you want to call it to turn into a big stone monster and blow stuff up someday. He’s fine as long as Iron Fan has that part sealed away (not going to lie, I was a little confused).
Red Boy, being manipulated by Wolf Demon because he wants to kill Wukong himself, decides he’s going to bring Sanzang to his mother as a birthday present, like you do. Shockingly this doesn’t end well.
The movie was pretty entertaining. It had a nice mix of humor without being too silly. Wukong looks like a monkey the whole time which is refreshing. So many movies make him run around as a human.
The Sanzang actor made the cutest ‘aiya’ sound when the demons tossed him around. He even ties himself up because ‘I know the drill’.
It’s weird to see our dysfunctional family not as dysfunctional but it’s also really sweet and it was nice to see Red Boy get mad on Iron Fan’s behalf at the mention of Bull King’s infidelity.
Probably the biggest Suntang moment was Sanzang fixing Wukong’s belt thingy
And then putting it back on for him.
As always, poor Bai Long disappears.
Like I said, I found it entertaining, probably better than some of the others I’ve watched recently-ish. If you can, give it a watch.
And I didn't know SWK took an immortal peach tree from Heaven in this version!?!? Makes sense tbh
AND I ALSO LOVE THIS MOVIE BC IT SHOWS US MORE FROM THE MONKEY'S SIDE INSTEAD OF THE JOURNEY DKNDKDNDK— the little monkeys are so cute and HAPPY UGH
The Jade Emperor also ran away LMAO. Their fault honestly, and Venus was sort of a dick here but I understand where he's coming from. I also like the visuals in this version it's gorgeous! The colors! The texture!! And Sun WuKong really is a grandpa here, and even talks and sounds like one!!!
He's so very monkey here too, very mischievous and always up to something! When he got drunk and thought about his children bc there was so much food and HE WANTED TO HIVE IT TO THEM SJBSJS— when the book only mentioned bringing the liquor 🥲
From the beginning Ao Guang is still a dick and I also don't remember a supervisor of the Bi Ma Wen from the classic? Maybe it wasn't added or it was just a twist here along with some other things.
ANYHOW I loved it!!!!! It was super fun and while it leans more on cartoonish aspects it still portrayed the story well (and kudos to them for this tbh). Maybe I'll come back again to watch this movie on worse days because watching it was honestly quite comforting and lighthearted.
I absolutely adored everything about it. 10/10 would watch again.
Being in multiple fandoms is so tough as an artist cause I want to draw everything, but I have time to draw nothing ahhhh. Even when I do just picking what I want to do is it's whole issue.
The long awaited part 2. Now reader has given the pilgrims another reasons to argue amongst themselves.
Also a nice contribution to the Five Nights at Freddy’s movie. I watched it with my sister on opening day and I LOVE IT!! Definitely a great cinematic experience for long time fans of the franchise. School has been meddling with my drawing so I wasn’t able to finish some of my drawings. But more is yet to be posted. Now if you’ll excuse me, I’ll watching FNAF for the 100th time.
I'm so sorry and I know you don't take request... but please... May I see Sophie with Fruity (the little fruit fairy from Monkey King Reborn) together... I wanna see wholesome... 😭💕
You are right, I don't take requests BUT because that idea was so wholesome and cute and I got the inspiration to do a quick art ❤️😭
So have Sophie meeting sweet Fruity! 🍑✨
Hi! How are you? Sorry, that's so random but after seeing your crossover drawing of reader and Bowser I imagined Sun Wukong singing "peaches" for the reader.
I hope you have a great day/night!💖
PEACHES! 🍑

'Liu'er, Gold and Silver and also Red Son too
A thousand court officials couldn't keep me from you
If Reader still had access to technology like phones and video games, what kind of games do you headcanon the crew would like. Who would like RPGs and who would like fighting games or puzzle games?
What about movies. If she had a magical tablet that lets her watch any movie from her time, who would like action, romance, comedy? Would the gang like Disney movies?
Lol I love this question let's see:
I think Wukong would like an interactive, choose your own adventure game with vibes like Cult of the Lamb where you can be as chaotic as you want. (Tripitaka is appalled watching Wukong play games)
For Tripitaka I can see him being the type to like farming and collecting games. Something with no violence and lots of colors. That being said he loves Minecraft on peaceful mode.
Bajie be over here playing dating sims cause it's the only bitches he can get. (And even then he usually can't gain enough points for the romance endings)
Wujing would love playing games where you can make friends with all the characters and his Sims world is literally the most calm, peaceful place to exist.
Ao Lie likes playing violent gore filled fps and horror games.... I will not elaborate.
And their go to game for Group Game Time is MarioCart and when that eventually starts a fight they play Super Smash Bros and then when that starts a fight they move onto Uno and then when that starts a fight they play puzzle games or something that requires group cooperation and then when THAT starts a fight they end Group Game Time and watch Princess and the Frog while Reader make them Get Over It And Get Along snacks.
King of Confusion: The Rise of the Great Sage (2022) 混世之王:混世四猴
Screenwriter: Wang Chuan
Genre: Animation / Fantasy / Adventure
Country/Region of Production: Mainland China
Language: Mandarin Chinese
Also known as: Four Monkeys in Confusion / 混世之王之大圣崛起 / Journey to the West: Four Monkeys in Confusion / 西游记之混世四猴
Type: Reimagining
Summary:
There are two sides to a coin, and most of the time, people only see one side. The story told in "The King of Confusion: The Rise of the Great Sage" is the story behind Journey to the West, the other side of the coin, and a story about another truth. 500 years later, the Great Sage promised the Buddha to escort a monk to the west to learn scriptures in 14 years. The behavior of the great sage aroused the confusion of the brothers of the same clan, and one after another stood up to stop it...
We have another woman obsessed with Wukong (I can’t really blame them. He’s awesome) and Wukong’s running around in a human guise again. Why do they keep doing that? He’s the monkey king! Bajie gets to be a pig.
Overall, it’s not a bad movie, but it’s not very memorable. We follow a powerless Wukong around whose apparently as gullible as Sanzang and believes everything this bracket tells him. Plot wise it’s not much different than any other. Sanzang gets kidnapped so Wukong has to save him by doing X, Y, Z. The how gets a little muddled since we have to throw in scenes between Wukong and our lady of the movie who’s purpose is to make Wukong realize love and compassion are the real power. 🖐️Yay!🤚 the thing Sanzang’s been yelling at him about for the first third of the movie.
As I’ve said before, it’s worth a watch. There’s humor sprinkled in throughout. You can find it on IQIYI.
As always, the relationship between Sanzang and Wukong is complicated. ‘I’m going to use the head tightening spell on you but then worry about you seconds later.’ That is not how you show love, Sanzang.
If you could rewrite the Netflix TMK movie, what would you change and/or include?
The entire Subodhi arc - let this monkey boy have a teacher/father figure that turns him away at a vital point in his development and leaves him with dad issues that help spur his goal to defeat 100 demons. Also give a reason why Monkey (No Subodhi = no Sun Wukong name) even knows any of the magic he does in the film.
Add in even a reference to the Brotherhood - even a joke about Monkey having "a group of buddies I used to hang out with".
Horses!! this Monkey King never interacts with a horse in the film! The Mind Monkey himself doesn't have a Will Horse!
More figures in the Celestial Realm beyond the wimpy Jade Emperor + his tired staff, and old granny witch Xiwangmu (seriously, why those designs?). Have Erlang Shen make an appearance as someone who's actually paying attention to Monkey's actions throughout the film - he himself gained immortality fighting demons, why not let him have a say in Monkey's journey? Maybe even have him show up to Monkeys' 100th fight and give him the harsh news that Heaven won't ever recognise either of them as equals.
I loved the Dragon King, but I legit feel like SWK's story hits so hard because it *doesn't* have a major villain beyond his own desires. Heck, have the Dragon King lose gracefully and let Heaven take the sporlight as the threat.
GUANYIN
For a film including the Actual Buddha, there's zero reference to the Bodhisattva that showed Sun Wukong mercy! The closest we get is Lin acting as a source of comfort/kindness to Monkey for the first time.
I know all this sounds like a lot for a netflix film - but just maybe it needed a miniseries to catch up with what the lore actually contains?
The Netflix film is fun and has really good animation + one of my fave versions of SWK and the Staff. But the whole story feels like the Illumination version of much better adaptations.
I would 100% love to see a rewrite/au of the Netflix film thats closer to the book lore. Add in the Subodhi arc, Guanyin, the Peach raid/havoc, the brotherhood, maybe some horses.
And maybe have Lin turn out to be the first reincarnation of the Golden Cicada, explaining why she speaks for the Buddha at the end.
