Create ; Release - A Sleep Token illustration project

I've talked a bit about this art project before, but now that I'm close to finish painting the 1st round, I can finally make a Serious Master Post about it (to make it easier to find and because I need to have everything neatly organised or else I die).

Create ; Release is a series of painted illustrations for each Sleep Token album, where each song will have its own individual painting based on my favourite lyrics, tied together by a colour palette. They won't necessarily relate to the ST lore, even though there will be some elements included. I'm going for a bit more abstract/conceptual approach, so to speak.

I'm starting with This Place because 1) it's been on my mind a lot recently; 2) for some reason the colour blue has been incredibly inspiring for me (Darya's Blue Period era); 3) I just felt like it 💙

The original plan is to make the 3 albums, but I might expand to include the EPs and 2 singles. This project has been a lot a bit taxing and time-consuming, but incredibly fun and satisfying to make!

[Because I know myself, I'll hold off posting the final illustrations until I've had the whole album scanned and ready. That way, I'll make sure to actually finish it, and you won't wait ages between songs (there will be however a few weeks of waiting time between albums, to allow myself time to have them all pretty and ready!) I will be sharing a few sneak-peeks and what-not with you while creating them 😘]

The Merry Whump of May - Day 29

[Collared | Cane | Flinching] (beating, pet whump, collar, caning, forced to hurt)

Whumpee flinched away from the cane that prodded at their back, encouraging them forward. 

“Go on. Be a good little helper.”

Whumpee gripped the collar tighter between their hands. It was just like theirs - but new. Still rough and stiff. The latch was still vibrant. The leather trembled between the fingers.

“Pl-ease don’t make me..”

Whumper sighed, leaving only a breath of a pause before bringing the cane down across their back. “You’re the one who wanted to keep them.”

Whumpee yelped, choking on air for one fleeting moment before scurrying forward before the beaten and bloodied figure bound before them.

“S’okay wh-umpee - s’ not y-re fault-” A soft smile pressed against swollen eyes.

Whumpee couldn’t bring themself to glance up at it as numb fingers slipped the collar around their friend’s throat.

Thank you SO MUCH!!!!! Welcome to the contestshipping kick-there's actually been a bit of a resurgence of it in 2022!!! I think it's always laid dormant, but I've seen mroe for it this year than I have since, like, middle school. Then again, that may be because I'm an active community member now-confirmation bias and all. Anyways, I can give a few recs! I actually don't read fic very often- I prefer to write it, though of my 300 something wips I have maybe four out in the world. But yeah! Here's some really good ones. Also... if you ever want to see some contest content you haven't seen before, feel free to bother me on anon to share wips! (bother is used very lightheartedly, you guys are never a bother!) Not sure what you're looking for, but here's some good fics that cover a variety of tropes!

Flower Shop Woes- Spontaneoushazel on Ao3 (definitely T, modern college au, rivalry vibes. Very breezy and cute, a light read for when you're on-the-go. Slightly different characterization than I usually go for, but I like it! Everyone interprets them differently and this is a fun one!)

This one is centred around May having a past in Judo and realizing she could pull an Annabeth and judo-flip her boyfriend for funsies. 10/10, another quick read. Hi! I'm Fract (it/they), I'm a 22-y-o Bleach fan. I struggle getting stuff done in general so updates (on anything, really) may not be regular and if I go missing for months it's probably normal, I just have periods like that. Good Omens graphic novel update: January 2024 ❤ 🐍😊

A toast to the new year, courtesy of your favourite angel and demon. Let’s start off 2024 with a preview of some new artwork from the Loot Packs, this time courtesy of Mark Buckingham: 

Our updates will, naturally, become more packed as the year goes on, and for January it’s a fairly swift one, but we promise from here in, there will be lots to cover. 

An update from Colleen

For those of you who missed it, Colleen Doran, our ineffable artist, has posted an update over on Substack detailing her 2023 working on the graphic novel, but also her own journey with various health issues and looking ahead to 2024. As she mentions, but it is worth reiterating: the Good Omens HQ team sends all the good wishes and support to Colleen, now publicly as we had previously done privately. The graphic novel is more than worth the wait. You can read Colleen's full post here.

Final reminder: Cameos 

Thanks to everyone who has submitted their photos. We’ve collated everyone’s excellent pictures for the various tier levels and been in touch if there are any issues, but we have to issue a final reminder for those who backed a cameo tier and have yet to submit. We have sent several individual chases to anyone outstanding and we want to make sure everyone who backed the tier gets their cameo. A final deadline of Friday 9th February 2024 has been set; while we will share any images submitted with Colleen beyond then, with the graphic novel significantly underway, we cannot guarantee inclusion beyond the deadline.

We’ve been messaged a lot about this, so to put minds at ease: we’ve not yet asked for addresses, and this will be done via PledgeManager when it launches later in the year. If you’re moving house, or have moved since backing, don’t worry! All is fine, and can be updated down the road. If you’d like to add more items, this will also be possible there. We’ll notify backers when it’s live, but you can also sign up for an update from PledgeManager if you’d like.

We’ve heard you asking for updates beyond the pins and while we’re working on getting a number of the items to the final stages for production and photographing to share with you, and plan to have some for next month’s update (wait until you see the socks that have just arrived), we’re not quite there yet. So, for those fans of “how many times can you say pins in an update”, here’s a first look at the bookshop pin from the mystery pin packs:

Your phone lights up with a sharp blue light in the dark room. Along with the assault on your eyes, it brings along with it a pinging sound going off loud enough to wake you as if it were the noise of the baby monitor. You reach for the phone on the bedside table, unplugging the charger to check the notification in case it is anything important at this ungodly hour of the night. Besides you, Javier continues snoring without registering even the slightest disturbance.

STRANGER THINGS 5 PRODUCTION MASTERPOST

All that we know about season 5 of Stranger Things:

At some point things will be happening during November 21 in 1987 (?)

The government/military ppl will be in Hawkins and they build things around town

Schools are open
