A few days had passed since the practice match. You hated to admit it, but you thought about Keishin often. 

He looked good.

Really REALLY good.

Like better than high school good.  He always looked nice but it was overshadowed by his complete desire to be an utter ass.

You sighed as you finished up a few emails to send off before you took your grandma to the hospital to visit your grandfather.

He was set to be discharged in a few days and then you would start the process of moving them to the elderly community. You had taken your grandmother to visit him daily as she would often have make him meals. He hated the hospital food. He said the flavor was lacking.

You had to laugh. The man had only ever eaten your grandmother's cooking since they married at a young age. He often complained or refused to eat any other food because it was never was good as his wife’s cooking. 

You had to agree. Your grandma was an amazing cook.

You arrive at the hospital with your grandma in toe. She says her hellos to the staff as they all reciprocate the greetings. Your grandma was a complete sweetheart. She was loved and adored by everyone. She always helped when and where she could, volunteering wherever she was needed. You're actually surprised your grandfather managed to charm his way in to her life.

Your grandfather was a rowdy old man. Literally the opposite of your grandmother. He could be bitter and always liked a good argument. He was never outright mean to people, just very outspoken and upfront. He was a lot to handle.

You exit the elevator carrying the box of food your grandma had prepared. She told you she was preparing a meal for your grandfather's roommate as well. She said the man was just as insatiable as your grandfather. You imagined they were quite the duo.

As you round the corner you start the head arguing. You eyes widen as you realize it's coming from your grandfather's room. 

 Your grandma just smiles as she shakes her head knocking lightly at the door.

"Yeah yeah" a voice shouts. 

 You both enter as you begin to observe the sight before you eyes.

Your grandfather and his roommate are watching volleyball on the small TV in their hospital room. Shouting at the apparent bad plays.

"Anyone could have hit that set with their eyes closed" your grandfather shouted "what is that spiker doing?"

"He's just a weakling like all the others" the other man shouted "that wouldn't be happening under my coaching."

You roll your eyes and smile. Man these two were made for each other.

Your grandma slowly starts to unpack and plate the food she made for both the men. They continue to watch the game as your grandma hands them the food.

"Dont worry dear I packed enough for everyone" she smiled as you observed all the food. The box was heavy that you carried in but you didn't think there was an entire week's worth of food there.

"By everyone did you mean the entire hospital gran" you giggle as she laughs.

"Oh Y/N" your grandfather says as he looks up from his meal for a second "this is my roommate. You might know his grandson. I think he went to school with him."

The other man grumbled "I apologize if you do know him, the weakling."

You smile as you chuckle "Well sir its nice to meet you, I'm Y/N"

The older man turns to you smiling "oh I know who you are sweetheart, I'm Ikkei Ukai"

WHAT DID HE SAY?

You were about to speak when a knock sounded.

"Yeah yeah, what is this grand central in Tokyo?" your grandfather huffed as the door opened.

"Just came to check on my fav-" Keishin spoke as he entered, shutting the door and turning around.

His eyes were met with yours. He gulped as the two older men and older lady looked at you both.

"Y/N, I didn't know you would be here" Keishin says as he lifts his head to the back of his head.

"I told you last week my roommate had a granddaughter your age" Ikkei spoke sharped tongue.

"Well you didn't mention here name!" Keishin glared at his grandfather.

“You didn’t ask” Ikkei huffed as he turned his attention back to the game as Keishin placed his hand over his face.

You giggle at the circumstances. 

This all had to be a joke right? No way this was coincidence!

"Ah Keishin it's so good to see you again" your grandmother says breaking the awkward silence "here have a plate"

"Oh you as well ma'am" he said bowing "thank you ma'am but I'll have to pass I’m just stopping by quick"

"Sit down you idiot the women made great food" your grandfather shouts at Keishin as you chuckle.

Your grandmother makes him a plate as he settles in by you at the spare table in the corner. Your grandmother sits beside your grandfather as he kisses her forehead. You smile as you watch them, all while Keishin watches you.

"Your grandfather and mine are one in the same" he says trying to break the silence.

"Ha ha yeah you can say that again" you say smiling as you eat.

"I honestly didn't know your grandfather was his roommate" he says.

"Well you probably wouldn't. They are my mothers parents so we don't share the same last name" you say looking down at your plate.

"You know, it was really great to see you play again Y/N" Keishin smiles at you.

You look up smiling back "Thank you. It was a lot of fun. You really have some great kids."

"Kageyama and Hinata couldn't stop talking about your sets. Kageyama said they were almost perfect" he said taking another bite

"Well I wouldn't say perfect. They can always use improvement" you say pushing your food around the plate.

"Give yourself more credit Y/N. You really are a great setter. I always thought so" Keishin says as he stares at you.

You laugh ironically "is that why you were always such an ass to me then?"

Keishin sighs "yeah I was an ass but it wasn't because you weren't good. I was stupid high school kid"

You sighed as you look to his smiling "I guess we've both changed a lot"

Keishin smiled softly at you as you take both plates and disguarded them in the bin.

"I'm going to step outside for a minute" you speak, kissing your grandma on the forehead.

"I'll come with you" Kishin says as you begin to walk outside

The silence is awkward. Neither of you know what to say to each other. It's like your years of high school rivalry has been reduced to this weird state of unknown.

"Look Y/N" keishin starts.

"Keishin" you interject "we both changed. It's ok. I'm not mad at you anymore."

That wasn't completely factual nor completely a lie.

You didn't hate Keishin.  In fact, thinking about it, you never really did. You admired the man but he annoyed you to no end. He was always better than you and you were jealous.

Keishin threw his cigarette as he walked towards you "Y/N I want to apologize."

You look at him with narrowed eyes "for what?"

"Well one for being a complete jerk back in high school" he proceeds.

"Jerk is an understatement but continue" you say smiling.

He laughs awkwardly "Listen Y/N can I at least make it up to you?"

You fold your arms "ok and how Keishin? It's not like we can go back in time and you can not mess up my serves" you spit as he looks towards the ground.

"Y/N please" Keishin says "my grandfather was right, I was a weakling back then. I was jealous of you. You had such talent and well, I enjoyed getting a rile from you. I know it was immature but it was the only way you'd talk to me."

“Wait what” you think as you try to process what he was saying

"I always admired you Y/N. You were a great captain and a fantastic setter. You worked so well all the players on your team. I honestly was a bit jealous" he continues as you state at him confused.

Keishin was jealous? Of you?

You say the only thing you can properly formulate "Well Keishin you sure had a hell of a way of showing it! You pissed me off, annoyed me to no end and now you tell me you were jealous?"

Keishin stares at your outburst.

"Keishin I apologize for yelling but it just seems unreal to me. I spent all of high school trying be as good as you and now your telling me you looked up to me? It just seems unreal" you say as you sit on the bench.

"Y/N" Keishin sits down in the other side of the bench "I know I was a complete jerk. I honestly didn't know it bothered you so much. I was a punk ass kid who was just trying to be someone. But I now realize I hurt someone who really meant a lot of me."

You look up from your hands to see Keishin with a soft smile on his face.

"Well this is awkward" you say as you stand up. You were never great with upfront feelings and awkward silences.

"Y/N please" Keishin says as you start to walk back to the room "Please just let me make it up to you. Let's have dinner. I promise. Just hear me out"

You sigh knowing the conversation was unavoidable. It wasn't that you didn't want to have dinner with Keishin, it's just that you still reeled from your past.

Maybe you were being petty and it seemed like Keishin had changed but were you really ready to admit that? Were you really ready to move on from a grudge you held for almost 10 years?

"Where" you sigh in defeat.

"Huh?" Keishin looks to you with question.

"Where and when" you look back at him with a less than eager face.

"How about Friday night? My families store?" Keishin shouts a little too enthusiastic.

You chuckle at his response "ok but I swear of you start shit I'm going to pelt a volleyball right at your forehead"

He laughs "there's the Y/N I remember"

You push him playfully as you both walk back into the hospital heading to your grandfather's room.

You enter the floor as you both hear loud shouting. You look at each other and take off running towards your grandfather's room. You bust open the door with Keishin on your heals as you see your grandfather on the floor and your grandmother holding her mouth.

"I'm fine I'm fine just got a bit worked up" he says.

Keishin moves to help your grandfather as you console your grandmother.

"Grandpa really? Getting worked up over volleyball?" You spit at him.

He glares at you "you're one to talk Y/N!"

Keishin’s eyes widen as you glare holes on your grandfather's head. He chuckles at your response.

"Oh Y/N it's about time you forgive the boy, it's been almost 10 years" your grandfather says

"Dont forgive him so easily Y/N" Ikkei interjects "make him work for it"

Keishin glares at his grandfather as he chuckles with your grandfather and they continue watching the game.

You and Keishin both sigh as you smile softly towards one another. 

You're night out with Keishin approaches faster than you hoped. Honestly you were really indifferent about the whole situation. You had to admit, Keishin had probably changed since high school. I mean the Keishin you knew would never coach a high school volleyball team.

summery: there isnt one…

today was the big day, today you were gonna go watch the particle accelerator go off, of course you were supposed to go with your best friend but he had to stay late at work… one of Central City’s finest in the form of a CSI… 

it was a few hours before the particle accelerator going off that Barry called you to chat while he waited for case results…

Barry: “im so sorry i can’t be there with you tonight… i’m sure it will be a great experience for everyone…”

YN: “yes well you are just gonna have to make it up to me…”

Barry: “i might have a way to do that… but it will have to be after im done with this case… ugh the captain has the worst timing…”

YN: “its fine Barry, we all need to work overtime sometimes… but you are right it does suck that your not coming with… but oh well… c’est la vie.. im just deciding what to wear…”

Barry: “ooo do you still have that red and gold sequined dress?”

You rumage for a few seconds through your closet before coming across it…

YN: “are you sure about this?”

Barry: “yes of course i am… now you should wear it and can you do me a favor and order me delivery… im gonna be here for a while yet…”

you put Barry on speaker while you got dressed and then ordered his food… hitting the order button, paying for it like always, it was the normal deal…

YN: “done it will be there in 30 min, i told them to tell the captain that he is there to deliver food to Barry Allen… as per usual… now im gonna send you a photo of me in the dress…”

you stand in front of your tall mirror, and pose taking the photo… sending it to Barry you wait the responce… you could always count on Barry to give you a honest true and really opinionated complement filled opinion…

Barry: “that is totally a stunning dress on you, YN you look like one of those rich models… you should totally wear it more often… and you look beautiful… now im really sorry im not going with you…”

YN: “you know what forget what Captain Singh says come with me… come on Barry play hookie for a bit please…”

Barry sighed into the phone but choose his choice to not get fired…

Barry: “i wish i could but ill tell you what, you give me a call after the expo, and i’ll come by and we will do a slumber party movie time what do you say?”

YN: “deal… now do your job Barry and ill talk to you later… im just arriving at Star Labs..”

Barry: “i am really sorry about not being there with you YN this was supposed to be our night…”

the tone in Barry’s voice left you hot and bothered but also wondering if that tone you were hearing was actually Seduction in Barry’s voice. but Barry also knew how he sounded but also heard the flirtation and disappointment in your voice…

Barry: “ill talk to you after and please YN bring me back as many souveniiiers as possible.”

he hangs up the phone and you exhale as you place your phone in your pocket and walk inside. the place crowded, the room hot and sweaty, then it started, the room kinda darkened, the accelerator powered up, the power went out in the building except for the Particle Accelerator… 

there was a very very large explosion sound but you were backed into a corner, you were trapped, as the blast started to come away from the particle accelerator… people scattered you reached for your phone but was too late, surely by now Barry would see this on the news… 

Barry however waatching this on the news reached for his phone and tried you praying that you would have gotten out but no answer before he noticed the blast coming closer to his location… 

before he could react the particles in the beakers around the lab began to rise like a lava lamp, but some thing happened, this would seperate you and Barry for 9 months, with people in and out by both your sides, you woke up in the blink of an eye. 

a lady came into the room, seeing you going frantic, she was vitally prepared for everything… so your temper subsided as your body burst into flames and you faded into Ashes…

Caitlyn: “well i now know this one has powers… but what the hell happened….”

Cisco: “if its what i think it is wait an hour and she should be reborn from the ashes…”

Caitlyn: “like a phoenix..”

Cisco gave the thumbs up and Caitlyn turned on the fire sprinklers… case of another fire burst… when you woke again you were covered in ashes and very very confused…

Caitlyn: “hello, im Caitlyn whats your name?”

You put your hand to your forehead, you made your face to turn towards her, you suddenly fell back to the bed…

YN: “YN… my name is YN… has there been any word on a Barry Allen…”

Caitlyn calls for Cisco and Dr.Wells… who both come in to stand with Caitlyn…

Wells: “Hello YN, i’m Dr. Wells i understand you know Mr. Allen?”

YN: “yes he is my best friend… where is he? is he okay?”

Wells: “he is fine, he is still in his acoma, he will be just fine though as soon as he awakens… you and Mr Allen were the 2 that were brought here cause we felt your situations were unique… at the actual hospital they said that Mr. Allen is concious in his minds eye but they didnt have the resources to help him… so they released him to us here at Star Labs…”

you were not yourself, you had no idea of the horrors which would befall you, had you not gone to see the particle accelerator go off… had you been with Barry when it had gone off, what would have happened to both of you had you both been there…

YN: “i would like to see him please… i just want to say goodbye before i leave…”

Caitlyn: “you cant leave you dont even have control over what you can do…”

YN: “i can rise from the ashes, i was on fire wasnt i? i know that you are gonna say i shouldnt leave… i know that you guys are trying to help but i have been asleep for how long exactly… how long has it been? who knows that we are here?”

Cisco: “no one knows except for the hospital about the fact that we have Barry… no one knows we have you… but we will let you see Barry before we take you to the training center to help you control your powers which you need to do before you can rejoin the world. its been almost 9 months since the particle accelerator went off and nearly killed you…”

you were trying to hold back your discontent, your fear its been almost 9 months… what the hell happened that night you wondered… 

YN: “i dont know what everyone thinks ill do if i get out of here but i am not gonna loose control of my powers… i feel like a brand new person…”

thats when your hair turned red with fire and your eyes burning red with hatred… they looked at you with fear as you suddenly turned into a phoenix in it actual form and flew out of the door. 

thats the last time you were in star labs that was the last time you were in human form… before a month later should appear. 

that is when Barry woke up, he with the help of Star Labs learned to control his gifts and soon became The Flash… on the 10th month-anniversary of the explosion Barry was back at CCPD doing his job but got word from Star Labs about a firey attack downtown Central City. 

Barry (The Flash) went downtown and stopped at the sight of the fire bird (you)… 

Barry: “guys its a large firey bird…”

Caitlyn and cisco looked at eachother and only caitlyn spoke next…

Caitlyn: “Barry, you know the firey bird.. you need to strike it hard enough to make it revert back to human… other wise we may loose someone who means so much to everyone here… especially you..”

that was enough, that was all Caitlyn had to say, Barry ran up the side of a copper building and got enough speed to throw a very high voltage bolt of lightning directly at your firey bird-like form… 

you were not sure about what was happening… but you felt that bolt of lightning strike you through the fire and you let out a sound as loud as nails on a chalkboard…. 

you spotted the lightning you spotted the person who must have thrown the bolt… but out of all the respective things you had ever done, keeping your human side at bay all you wanted to do was cause trouble… 

you chased the lightning streak all the way to the airport landing no one around nothing destructive… thats when you heard it the small voice from below…

Barry: “i know who you are, please don’t make me strike you down…”

you instead spat a fireball at him… this answered his statement… this was what made him throw a very very large lightning bolt at you… you felt it corse through your skin, over your body, suddenly your human side started to surface… suddenly it was like you were once more normal…

you fell to the ground, you were now laying there naked and human… once you were on the ground barry sped to you, your form causing alarm in his brain… he picked you up bridal style and ran you both back to star labs. 

Caitlyn was in there like a dirty shirt, she shooed Barry out of the room while she worked… she not only put clothes on your body but she also stuck a meta cuff on your wrist which would subside your powers till you can control them… 

she hooked up your vitals and only could monitor them, once barry was out of his uniform he was at the door waiting to be let in…

Caitlyn: “come in Barry….”

Barry walked in the door and was instantly taken with your form… this sight brought tears to his eyes. 

Barry: “how is she?”

Caitlyn: “she will be fine as long as she wears the meta cuff, its gonna keep her from turning into a firey bird again… now ill leave you alone im sure she will want to see you when she wakes…”

Barry went to sit at your bed side… he held your hand in his own and only prayed that you would wake… but he whispered this…

Barry: “please wake up YN i need you to wake up… i need you in my life… i need you with me… so much has changed in both of our DNA’s and we have to do everything we can to survive this together… just please wake up, i love you…”

with that Barry placed a chaste kiss to your lips… and held your hand as he leaned his head on your hand… it was about 10 minutes later that your eyes fluttered open, you sat straight up with a sudden scream… this startled Barry, this brought him to position himself between you and the door right in front of you…

YN: “omg Barry i caught fire, i was covered in ashes, OMG what happened… the particle accelerator, they wouldnt let me see you… are you okay?”

Barry: “im fine, YN is that all you can remember?”

YN: “yes why what else happened?”

Caitlyn clears her throat from the doorway….

Caitlyn: “YN you freaked out at us here at star labs before Barry woke up, you turned into a Phoenix… you spoke as though you weren’t yourself… it is almost like a…”

YN(phoenix): “almost like she is 2 people… ya well im the Phoenix… as long as im able to speak right now… can i jut say that this cuff is really just a over glorified bracelet… so yes Caitlyn you are right she has duel personality… but she needs a way to communicate with me… as i do her… find a way to teach her how to control me, the fire and her emotions… otherwise the fire will consume her again…”

you fall back onto the bed and come back up a few seconds later, confused and afraid… 

YN: “what happened? why is everyone staring at me like i have 2 heads…”

Caitlyn: “YN do you know what D.P.D stands for?”

You had to think about it, knowing that whatever it stood for was probably gonna be tied to whatever just happened to you…

YN: “dual personality disorder.”

Caitlyn: “cisco can you bring up the footage from like 10 minutes ago and put it on the monitor beside YN… so she can better understand what the hell she is going through…”

the footage plays on the screen in front of yours and Barry’s eyes. your own body speaking for you, your eyes red like blood fire, your voice is not your own, and your body reacting not like you would.

you had to peel your own eyes away from the sight of your form on that screen, the voice, the screeching tones… you were mortified… you were not able to form words or at least that was your thought…

YN: “WHAT THE FUCK DID I DO? I SPOKE AS THOUGH I WAS A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT PERSON… WHAT TH…”

that is when Barry cupped your face  with his hands and kissed you with an ELECTRIC passion that stoked your FIREY BLAZE…

the sight in the room was enough to turn away the eyes of Caitlyn, Cisco & dr wells… Barry after 10 minutes of a severe make-out session pulled back now having a smile crossing both yours and Barry’s features.

Barry: “i can see that everyone has now always been right… we have always had a strong connection. i didnt see it in time. i can’t imagine my life without you now… share my life with me, share my conquest to save and find metas like you and me, people who were also affected by the particle accelerator… be my other half… YN Marry Me… Marry Me and Help Me Save The World!”

YN: “yes Barry what took you so long to ask…”

Barry could only kiss you once more except both of you falling to the bed in a flurry of passionate kisses.

Eden’s Zero Chapter 1 Review

Hey guys, now before I dive into this already longer than usual review, I did wanna take this time to mention something. Its been no secret that I turned on Mashima and FT pretty hardly after the end of FT and some of you may be aware that I was moderately active in the fanbase with putting out my reviews and such. That said some may liken that shift in mentality to me not liking how the story went and a common critique of fans is that when what they’re fans of doesn’t gel with what they want they wanna destroy it. As if the fan has ownership of the source of the fanaticism.

I admit there are times that I’ve question decisions on Hiro Mashima’s end and has posted rewrites, but that’s not me doing it out of a sense of ownership. I’m doing it because I have a standard. Being a fan of something and letting your disappointment get to you and fester into salty, bitchy purest is one thing, but being a person who’s judging what a series puts out and actually caring about the quality of what’s in the popular media is important. FT got negative reviews in its latter half because it was that bad. By the end of the series it was legit that bad. Now I don’t say that is someone who was in the fanbase and hated Hiro’s decisions cause they weren’t mine, I hated them because it was bad writing. I’m a reader with standards, as are all of you, and in the digestion of media we make distinctions between good and bad. I make this claim with more concrete surety now that I’ve been around longer and have reviewed more series than just FT, I think it be harder to believe if I made this case when I was just starting and all I was talking about at the time was FT.

Some of you might remember when I first started out on MHA, my second chapter I ever reviewed I had found it boring and mundane and to date its my least popular MHA review and I still stand by that assertion. I hold everything to the same standard, and that includes FT. The reason I write this is that while throughout this review I will mention comparison’s to FT’s first chapter (and yes, even ways Eden’s Zero improved on it), but I will be holding it to the same standard. So this entire review won’t be me holding a grudge against Hiro, but it will be me holding it to the same standard as I do everything I read. That out of the way lets dive in.

We open on a hill side and met our MC named Shiki. Beside him is the mecha demon from the cover page and what they see is a... dragon. Yeah, Hiro I thought you wanted this to be wholely original?

On the hand I actually like this scene in the sense robo demon here is actually encourging actual adventure (something FT lacked) and its kinda amazing listening to this demon looking guy talking about friendship, yet on the other hand, damnit Hiro. Is this the only thing how to write about? Like damn man.

We cut to the future where we see our main female Lucy-I mean Rebecca! Y’know I could make a Rebecca from One Piece joke, but she’s kinda already a bit of a decisivee figure so I’m not gonna bother.

I mean its okay. Its just castle theme park. Also Rebecca we find out is apparently a youtuber. Look if DBS can have GodTube then I can put up with Blue Cate (Aoneko) website. Also yeah Happy here, no sugar coating its just Happy. Also Rebecca here purposely made her skirt short. Just because you point out the sexualization in canon doesn’t make it better, ya still drew it, Hiro.

We see that the theme park is full of robots and each one acts as an assist in sending the guest through some kind of medieval simulator. And if anyone has seen Westworld you know where this is heading. To be fair I love worldbuilding so please, explore!

So we find out Rebecca’s dream is to have one million suscribers and now here’s where I gotta give props to Hiro because he actual made a dream for a character that doesn’t seem like it can be achieved a chapter from now. Granted this seems a bit hard to actually quantify, but this dream could potenially evolve into something of why she wants the suscribers and could be like Nami making the map of the world that getting video of unknown locations may actually be worth something to the general population.

We see that Rebecca chooses to go on a monster hunting quest and they encounter...

...This thing. Also it seems Rebecca’s character quirk is she really likes cats I guess? But this doesn’t last long as someone crashes down on mecha cat.

Okay that was kinda funny. I mean if this was FT would’ve actually gotten the panty shot so maybe Hiro has learned his lesson! Also note that wrench!

Oh god damnit Hiro. So this tarzan guy after acting like an animal is knocked out by Rebecca. Y’know it took about 60 chapters before Natsu got all up in Lucy’s chest, guess we’re cutting straight to the chase here.

Okay is joke with here just going be about here short skirt? Damning it with faint praise here, but at least he still hven’t flashed us them yet. Also Tarzan here is the only human on the island.

We get some scenes of Shiki here wanting to be friends with Rebecca cause she’s a human and Rebecca isn’t interested and she returns to the Granbell town where Shiki is there and the robots know who he is.

Shiki’s expressions and creepy advances really gives off this tinge of sci-fi horror, unfortunate Hiro doesn’t really go that route and we’ll get to it. Also that wizard looking robot from the color page is also here.

They then have a party where the robots all celebrate them having a costumer for the first time in so long they have a party being nice to Rebecca and lavishing her with stuff outside is robot that looks like Robin Hood and he reports to his boss this machine king.

Oh look, Hades if he was a robot.

We see Shiki trying to bond with Rebecca and it leads to him expressing he wants to leave the kingdom and see another country, but we also learn he’s in charge of fixing this and the robots are acting up lately. We find out that the one who was talking to Shiki and is his “Grandfather” was called the Demon King a robot designed for playing that role in the park.

Umm Rebecca... That’s being a dick. So you don’t like it, so you decide to cut it, cause it bothers you. You could’ve framed it like, “If he fixes you up then maybe he needs better vision” or “He’s been so nice to me, let me do something for him.” And what makes this worse s that Shiki is asleep, so she doesn’t even consult his feelings. Like seriously, that’s not being a good friend . But for contrivances sake I’m sure Shiki will wake up and love it, won’t he?

Huh? I was wrong instead we got shitty 80s comedy. I don’t know if that’s better or worse.

Y’know I said I’d give Hiro atleast two free fanservice moments for his first 3 chapters. He’s now used all of them up in a single chapter. Also Rebecca is tied to a stake while robots with torches surround her along with the machine king.

Shiki is also there and here’s something that did remind me of rave, the tightness of the first chapter. Everything seems to flow like one continuous story and doesn’t seem to do some dumb interlude like FTs first chapter did with that awkward moment where Lucy leaves Natsu and she’s just randomly in the park reading.

The King wants to use her ship to leave this world and we get som kind of motivation out of him.

Oh wow, for a first chapter villain that’s actually a really deep thing to unload. That as amusment park hosts they must’ve just been seen as pleasure tools and with no one around these robots who seem to be senstinent must’ve felt betrayed and...

Oooooor you cut out all moral ambiguity by just saying they have a virus. Sure. Trust me, this is where it gets stupid really stupid. And that’s the inconsistency.

So these robots I guess are like the ones from the Animatrix where they just kinda develop sentience out of nowhere. But unlike Animatrix it doesn’t seem to imply when they developed this sentience and that they began to think they were being abused.

Tired of Friendship already, it ain’t leaving.

So why do you hate humans? They abandoned you I guess, but there’s not other robot saying “hey our times were fun together” no everyone is like they left us to rot  so we hate them. Not like Humans did anything legitimate bad. We actually see that at the end of the chapter that there is some sort of central battery on the park that all robots are hooked up to. You could make their reason for hating humans that. That even though they left these sentiment robots still had a little kingdom to themselves, but realized that its all just going to end one day and humans didn’t even bother to unplug them. They’re existence is literally knowing when they’ll die, imagine that as why they harbor negative emotions and maybe Shiki actually fixing things might’ve actually been prolonging their lives so maybe that be why they kept him around. This whole sentience things just feels like Hiro wanted to do a trope of crazy robots and ended using multiple to fit the whatever story purpose at the moment.

You do run the planet, dumbasses. This entire plane, apparently for hundreds of years, has been solely controlled by you. Maye this should be rephrased as, going to the place that built you to get revenge or as I spoiled with the battery we’ll take the ship to get more power for our kingdom?

Shiki doesn’t do anything and kinda lets the robots just wail on him as he found out all things in his life were a lie. Then Rebecca gives a friendship speech. A stupid stupid friendship speech.

You’re right, Rebecca! Too bad we didn’t see that. I’m serious we barely see memories of Shiki with any robot outside of the demon king and Michael so there’s no weight to this conflict. We only get the vague sense they raised hm, but there’s no moments of Shiki really laughingg and enjoying their company outside of the party with Rebecca which rather is made more for getting Shiki to like Rebecca for this moment.

Shiki remembers what his Grandpa the Demon King said and just blows them all away.

We see Shiki’s hand and apparently he has these marks indicating he has Ether gear. The power system of this series.

You’re sentiment! You have out grown your programming! You can choose to have a concept of friendship.

So they fight with shitty action scenes (If I can give Horikoshi a hard time for how he draws his fight choreography, then I sure as hell will give Hiro the once over.) Happy manages to save Rebecca and like Happy from early FT, he basically spots off exposition on powers.

So is it like a literal gear? Because Happy afterward destincties as the Gear of Gravity, so is it like a devil fruit? Is ether in all humans, but this specific gear brings it out in a certain way? If its internal then I guess its like the magic circuits from Fate? And then every of has their own unique variation like Nen? Like cause Happy gives it the distinction of Gravity it doesn’t seem like Shiki gives a reason why he has this power. I’m hoping \its like devil fruits, literal gears you implant and then it brings out your ether in a certain way.

Shiki punches out the machine king and cause a massive collapse.

Credit where credit is due, Hiro actually did build up the reveal of this power throughout the chapter and its actually really well done. Kinda reminds of something Oda would do with subtly building up a devil fruit power without revealing it. Like Crocodile drying out a flower but it isn’t stated his power is specifically sand.

They then flee when the other robots rally and Shiki takes Rebecca back to her ship.

This scene would actually be really nice if we actually saw more young shiki actually having fun with the machines and not a being a creeper with them.

Shiki and Rebecca take off and we see the universe.

Not gonna lie, that’s a really pretty shot. Like damn, I could get behind this.

It seems like worlds in this universe are basically like kingdom hearts worlds. They’re not real “worlds” so much as they are islands in space.

Sure, keep the mystery alive why don’t you, no that be too much.

Well great place to end the chapter. Little dry of a first story, but I definetly see that has room for improvment and there is something-Wait this isn’t the last page? But what else is there to talk about. There’s nothing left-

Oh for fuck sake. That’s right they were trying to send SHiki away. Because apparently these robots thought there was no way to restore battery life even if stayed.

Here’s a tip, ifyou really care, and had such a close bond, maybe tell him to leave? Tell SHiki the truth that you guys are tied to a battery and instead of Shiki vowing to leave for the stars so he can make 100 friends (I’m not kiding that’s his actual goal here). Then this would be an interesting goal.

But no, you have to act like human hating jackasses and shatter the boy’s entire reality, just so you he would go out and “change the universe”

This would be a really nice scene with a very nice amount of character development starting point, if we actually saw their past. All we know is they raised Shiki, but its never really seemed like they’re loving or caring or Shiki openly gets upset if one of them had a problem. Again the biggest flaw with this chapter is that it sacrifices seeing one potentially interesting relationship (Shiki and the robots) for another one (Rebecca).

So we end on this page which reveals that Shiki’s goal is to have a hundred friends. Not going to say something snarky I just realized this is the same motivation as Yuki from future diary. Like before the crazy yandere shit.

Post Chapter follow up:

Lets be positive and look at the good stuff in this chapter. The first thing great about this chapter is it improved upon two of the biggest failings in the first chapter FT. Goals established and world building. Not only does this set up force Hiro Mashima to actually world build (literally) but each person in the first chapter has a goal that doesn’t seem like it can be accomplished quickly. It means we can have investment in the story.

Another thing I’ll give is Shiki is an okay MC. He has more personality than Natsu, but not as much as Haru and this first chapter is about him. Its easy to understand that Lucy is often considered the MC of FT because it literally focuses on her for the story than Natsu. But this chapter had a healthy balance.

Also the power system at least seems to have some definition. Unlike how anyone could have magic yet normal people just don’t choose to use it like in FT. Ether Gear seems to be a powersource that only a select few can use. Now we need to see first if there are ways of combating it like technology or such so a non ether gear person can still fight.

It also has its own unique aesthetic. Ft is a pretty generic fantasy world. It doesn’t have the bleakness of bereserk or the Japanese aesthetic of naruto. You could say Black CLover, Fairy Tail, and Seven Deadly sins all had their first chapter happen in the same world and I’d have trouble arguing it.

Now on to the crappy stuff. This series suffers from the usual Mashima foibles such as the sexual harassment, the stupidly way it tries to justify and give all conflict happy ending, not actually bothering to have a situation drawn out ad built up too, etc. I mean for the first conflict of the chapter its a heavy one, these guys raised SHiki yet their own mentality is against humans so Shiki has to choose, but instead of actually answering that question, it turns out there was no real conflict and the machines were just faking.

As for my like for Shiki, I flat hate Rebecca. She is so pointless and useless. Look I will defend Lucy and she actually can d things. First chapter she saved Natsu by using aquarius. But Rebecca? She’s just all of the bad traits of post timeskip Lucy. She is used for pointless fanservice, does nothing contribute, and becomes a mouth piece for friendship.

Speaking of friendship as a concept and goal here, Hiro just rewrite what you mean. Have deeper meaning than friends for once. There is ways you could take the motivation “I want to make 100 friends” in a compelling way. Prehaps Shiki is going out to make his own world where he can make a happy place for people where they can laugh and cry in harmony. Like story telling wise its pretty weak.

Like me personally, I would’ve taken the first chapter like this, the robots are sentinet and they are nice to Shiki and Rebecca and they have genuine fun together. They gradually reveal that they are shutting down maybe one starts acting wonky and tries to hide it and maybe the machine king is the real bad guy. He has sentinece and hates humans and he wants to eliminate SHiki and Rebecca and that’s because they’re shutting down. The other robots say they don’t care they were abandoned, they were mad at first but Shiki showed them that why they loved catering to humans. King and Shiki fight and they all reveal they’re shutting down and Shiki cries he doesn’t want them to go. The robots say its inevitable and they don’t hpw to recharge the battery and Shiki vows to leave the planet and search for a power source to bring them all back. Then that’s shiki’s goal and it even can cause questions like “Is it worth all this for machines?” or “who designed them maybe we can figure out the right substance to power them up?”

or if Hiro wanted to go a more darker route. Have the machines have no sentience and literally be dolls for the King who turns out to be a human who stayed here on Granbell and made his own little kingdom. Make it a bit meta on how Shiki’s only friends were just hollow imitations of people who were only friends because that’s what their programming dictated and they can all be switched off. It be meta as critiquing Ft and how all the guild characters basically had no conflicts, all got along, and were just friends with no depth or reason.

This all highlights the issue with Hiro Mashima and that’s he is not a good a writer. Hiro is an incredibly talented person and can come up with incredibly unique ideas and looks, which is why his cover pages are the best things he puts out because its him free forming. But writing. He has a limited scope on that and stuff like sci-fi and fantasy can be very morally grey things. But Hiro doesn’t seem to understand tragedy in the sense that its tragic because a person fails or dies unsatisfied. But he only seems to know how to write painfully obvious concepts like “save the world” or “friendship” instead doing a concept like “what it is to be a hero” like MHA does which can have a variety of answers to it.

So what’s the final verdict? Well I actually am going to do something different than usual. I’m going to say what I though the quality was compared to FT and then to what I’d consider this work compared to anything else.

In comparison to FT, Eden’s Zero gets a Final verdict of 8/10

Improves on a lot of FT’s first chapter flaws

Created a more unique environment for a story

And actually has a lot tighter narrative

But in comparison to everything else...

Final Verdict: 5/10

Even if it wasn’t Hiro, its a pretty generic start (some names aren’t even all that inspired like Machine King, Demon King)

Potential to grow into something better is there

Nothing is outright offensive

gonna talk about my spooky side account lore bc its unabashedly my favorite

sam and his sibling max lost their parents to to the bringer when they were really young. they were freed from terror mountain when the hannah thing went down. sam had trouble adjusting and stayed in terror mountain for awhile while max eagerly went out into world. the two kept in constant contact, until max suddenly stopped replying after he traveled to the haunted woods. sam decided to leave for the haunted woods to look for his sibling, and had a pretty terrifying time of it until he met lonnie

lonnie is a ne’er-do-well grave robber squatting in an abandoned house in the middle of the haunted woods. he found a very afraid and confused sam stumbling around and took him in with the intention of using him to help in illegal activities. sam, being cut off form the world for 10000 yrs and being generally too trusting, enthusiastically goes along with him. the two run around causing trouble and eventually lonnie finds himself actually CARING about this  sweet bori

paix was born to a terrestrial aisha and alien aisha couple and was raised exclusively on the virupets space station. her childhood had a backdrop of constant and oppressive paranoia of sloth. her family had several connections with the resistance and as a result knew several ppl who either disappeared or were seriously negatively effected by the sloth empire. she even lived through the sloth takeover of virtupets, which while thankfully was relatively uneventful on the part of the station her family lived in, it was still pretty terrifying for 10-or-smth yr old. while all this died down when paix grow up to adult, her parents were still very protective, not allowing paix or her little sister to travel unsupervised and helicoptered pretty bad. paix prided her self in being very level headed, but then one of her only friends disappeared while tracking down a sloth aligned organization and is presumed dead, paix is absolutely devastated, and in the months following his disappearance she quietly takes a small, former resistance ship from a family friend. she intended on flying it to neo central and parking it somewhere visible where the authorities would find it and return it with her apology note sitting in the seat of the cockpit, meanwhile shes in faerieland or mystery island, she doesnt know where just anywhere she’ll figure it out when she gets there. 

what ACTUALLY happened was a little more dramatic than she intended

paix initially and rightfully doesnt trust lonnie much, but he IS nice enough to let her stay at his house after she  crashed into his back yard  (is this even his house? i looks like its been run down for a while). sam was amazed in meeting a real alien and paix liked him well enough, hes a very kind guy, but still the whole situation was suspect

she probably wouldnt have stayed for long if lonnie hadnt up and died on them

paix suspected murder, from what sam says lonnie wasnt the most liked person around, but its not like theres any laws this is the haunted woods. as far as sam knows lonnie doesnt have any family, he thinks once there was a sister mentioned but he didnt even get a first name. the only family sam had left was a missing sibling he had been trying to find for a year now. so paix helps sam bury him in the back yard

paix takes on a lot of the responsibilities, like get food and telling people that lonnie is in fact dead, he wont be bothering you anymore. she even starts helping sam in his attempts to track down his sibling (shes not super optimistic but its not like shes going to tell sam that). 

at first paix thinks that sam is just very, VERY upset. he hasnt been very tired and acting a little strange, but his friend just died in front of him, its not like she has any room to judge. but as time goes on, things seem increasingly off. theres breif moments where sam seems to be his old self, but more and more he seems confused. paix finds him standing in the middle of the hall, staring at the wall. theres times where sam doesnt remember where hes been or what he was doing just moments ago. paix goes to the attic to get sam, finding no one, only to remember that sam is asleep in the in the living room, and when she goes back down staris of course hes still there, passed out on the couch like he has been all day, why was she so sure there was someone in the attic

when it becomes clear that lonnies been possessing sam, paix has a weird mix of terror and relief, though its drowned out by how PISSED she is at lonnie. she yells at him in portuguese for WHILE before he explains that he really wasnt trying to hurt sam or steal his body or anything else paix is accusing him of, hes been trapped in the ghost zone since he died and nothing he did could get their attention (he had gotten SO CLOSE with paix, she seemed to almost hear him. paix remembers all the times she felt she was being watch or heard someone screaming and just shrugged it off as a side effect of the haunted woods)

Peter was sitting on a bench in Central Park waiting for (Y/N) . They usually met each other there on Wednesday afternoons to go get ice cream together , at the vendor on the other side of Central Park . Mr. Gonzales had the best ice cream in all of New-York , but not a lot of people knew that . 

The sun was already sitting low on the horizon , and the rays of light blending through the leaves were already starting to dim . Peter looked down at his phone , checking to see if (Y/N) had sent any messages , she wasn’t usually late , but today she was . He frowned when he didn’t see any notifications from her . 

He quickly started to dial her number , but his head shot up when a very excited voice yelled from the distance . 

“Peter!Peter!Peter!” He saw a figure wearing converse and a Harry potter hoodie and jeans  come running at him with incredible speed . His spidey senses tingled , and he shot up from his seat , just in time too , because the person who was running to him , was running too fast to stop , and when she tried to halt , she fell over her  feet , sending her body flying forward . Luckily with his awesome reflexes he caught her .

“Wow (Y/N) you really need to learn how to stop . “ he said , as he helped her stand up . 

“When did you get so strong ?” she started saying , her breathing uneven from all the running .

Suddenly , police sirens wailed in the distance , snapping them out of their trance , Peter quickly jumped back , standing a proper few feet from (Y/N).

“I.. I gotta go . “ he said quickly .” I forgot  .. Aunt May she .. she needs me to help … with stuff . “ he said , and quickly grabbed his shoes . And turned to leave . “Peter! “ (Y/N ) called , and he quickly turned to look at her .

He nodded before running off .

To rant for a bit about what kind of alternate universe I feel like I'm living in sometimes. I have something very specific weighing on me today so ill try to keep on topic. I find myself feeling every day like more of a proud Christian American than the people who actually call themselves that. It's uncomfortable. It's weird. Like people who wear American flags on fucking everything annoy me for more than just the same reason I hate it when people from cape cod wear cape cod sweatshirts (i.e., bitch we know where the fuck we are) but it bothers me that its technically federally illegal and desecration akin to throwing a flag on the ground and stepping on it (shout out to peeps with actual flag doormats too). The people covered in flags are the ones who have a fucking aneyurism if someone steps on a flag. It's leviticus all over again; read the whole goddamn paragraph if ur gonna follow it. I'm not a democrat I'm not a republican. Like no I don't support the concept of our military industrial complex but I do support our active duty and veteran citizens. My dad and grandfather were both marines. They got sucked into a system like so many others that spit them out with little to no regard. I notice that the majority of people who chant U.S.A! and wear flags and shit dont actually do anything let alone anything of substance to support this country except chant from their couches. It feels weird for me to say as a through and through anti establishment hippie, but I am a proud American and shit is fucked up but I love this country, and that's why I fight so hard to love everyone in it. Its why I pick up garbage at our parks and beaches, and oppose pipelines and corporate pollution to protect the land we get to live on. Its why I'm out in the goddamn streets feeding and clothing the homeless and veterans and picking up garbage at and repairing the American veteran's post in my town that gets trashed by locals. Its why I fight for better and more accessible and affordable healthcare for everyone and I mean everyone. Its why I vote in local and national elections. Its why I fight for rights and freedoms of Americans, including gay and trans and straight and nonbinary and disabled and religious and non religious Americans. I am incredibly grateful to have been born in this place at this time and afforded the opportunities and privileges presented to me so that I may live a fulfilling life. Sick of opinionated armchair politicians who havent even seen this country yet think they know everything about it. I have been all the way across and up and down this country; I have bathed in its rivers and slept in its deserts and on its mountains and under its stars. I have met people of every socioeconomic background and education level, and color. I have experienced this country for many years. Please stop saying you love this country if you have no respect for it and the people who live in it. And while I'm on the fucking subject, please never talk to me about Christian values unless you're ready to talk about how you're selfless and christ like. I'm sick of empty gestures and false representations of patriotism. I'm sick of people in my town with their bumper stickers and tshirts and hats and bullshit who don't give a shit about America, not south America, not central America, not north America. Read your constitution, know your rights, support your community, fight for each other, don't fucking pollute the land you want to leave for your children, and for gods sake please dont offer anyone your useless fucking thoughts and prayers.

Kai Parker x Reader word count : 2 045 summary : Kai and Reader meet in NYC during the summer vacation. He falls in love with her but never tells her , and he is even more surprised at the end when he figures out who she really is. *gif by lightwoodxalec ____________________________ The beginning of June … Kai never imagined how good life can be. After he got his freedom , making a deal with Bonnie to siphon away the spell he put on her and Elena linking them together , he had spent the past 20 somewhat years travelling the world and experiencing the good life. He had the chance now and wasn’t planning on wasting it. Every year he lived in a different city , experiencing life to the fullest. This year he had decided to live in New York City and it was there where he met her. She was walking down the street , coffee to go from Starbucks in one hand and her phone in the other , not looking where she was going. Kai had been distracted himself with his phone in his hands as well. Its been years and he still loved social media as much as when he had first discovered it after getting out of 1994. “OH God , I am so sorry.” the girl apologised for bumping into him. Kai looked up from his phone meeting the girls eyes ready to scold her for not watching where she was going but instead he froze on the spot. She smiled nervously at him , pushing away a strand of hair from her face , only moments later realising she had spilled her coffee on her clothes. She was wearing black ripped in the knees skinny jeans , a white top with print (now covered with coffee stain) and a black / white plaid shirt. “Ugh … Now I have to go get a new one.” she muttered under her breath. “Why are you apologising ? It wasn’t your fault , not completely anyways.” Kai said smiling at her. He couldn’t put his finger on ‘why’ he liked her instantly but he did. There was something different about her. Kai took off his jacket giving it to her to cover up. “Here , take my jacket. It works with your outfit anyways…” “Thanks” she said awkwardly. “I’m Y/N by the way.” “Kai.” he said. “You know I live near by , sort of , you can come and change there , I am sure there will be at least one thing in my closet you can borrow…” Y/N shifted nervously on her feet shaking her head. “I shouldn’t … “ “I promise I am not some psycho or anything ..” he said finishing his sentence in his mind ‘not any more at least.’ Y/N nodded. “Oh-kay. Thanks.” They walked mostly in silence towards his apartment, navigating through small streets avoiding the large boulevards. “Are you from New York ?” she asked. “You seem to know this town very well. To me it just seems like a giant maze or something. It’s so easy to get lost here.” Kai walked quietly for a moment , feeling nervous all of the sudden. He had met many people during the past 2 decades but none of them were like her , he could just feel it. He never liked anyone and if anyone ever tried to stand in his way , that someone usually ended up a meal. “Um , no. Its a recent thing. I spend a lot of time travelling.” “Are you an actor or something ? You sure have the looks for it … and you look strangely familiar.” she trailed off. Kai glanced at her ,knowing for sure he’d recognise her if they had met before. Her long brown hair in waves and her big blue eyes just like all her features were unforgettable. They reached his apartment building and walked in , climbing to the 5th floor. “I don’t think so , no.” said Kai unlocking his apartment door , letting her walk inside first. “I’ll be right back. Any shirt colour preferences ? Girls usually have those about everything - clothes , shoes , ice cream , phone covers ….” Y/N laughed. “I am not like that. Whatever works for you , really.” “Oh-kay.” Kai disappeared into his bedroom for a few minutes before coming back with a couple of  t’-shirts in his hands. He gave them to her , pointing to his bedroom if she wanted to change in there. Y/N took the shirts and went inside , quickly pulling her top off before putting on one of the white shirts on. It was a little bigger for her but somehow worked , the soft material gently brushing on her skin. Y/N walked out with her stained top / plaid shirt in her hand , fixing her hair as she walked with the other. “Thank you … Kai , was it ? Its really nice of you to do all this but … I dont want to impose or bother you in any way.” she laughed nervously. “You are not bothering me in any way. Do you want some coffee or a bagel or coffee and a bagel ?” Kai got up quickly from the couch taking the clothes from her hands and heading for the laundry machine. He didn’t want her to leave , all he wanted was to spend a little more time with her. He couldn’t understand why , but he liked her instantly. Y/N smiled shaking her head. “I must be dreaming or something. No one is that nice.” she muttered to herself. Kai smiled to himself. If she only knew … “So what brings you to the big apple ? Job ? Family ? …. Boyfriend ?” he asked curious while pouring a cup of coffee for her , hoping it wasn’t the last option. “None of the above. It’s the summer vacation before my senior year in high school. Thanks.” she said taking the cup from Kai. “I just had to get away from my hometown. My parents were driving me nuts…asking questions ‘where are you going next year ; you cant put off the decision anymore’ and I just bailed without telling them.” she laughed nervously. “I was actually texting my dad when we bumped into each other … he was furious.” Kai suppressed a smile.” OH I know a thing or two about dads being furious…. Sure he’ll forgive you. Mine never did , then again I did something worse than running away…“ Y/N looked at him curious wondering what could Kai have done that had been so bad. He seemed beyond nice to her. Not many people would welcome a stranger into their home. Part of her wondered if she should’ve said ‘no’ to his offer instead but inexplicably she felt a connection to him , like they know each other from somewhere. They spent the rest of the day together talking. Later on Kai drove her back to her hotel , exchanging numbers and agreeing to meet for coffee the next day. He was charming , funny and his smile was enough to get her to fall for him. Being around him was as easy as breathing and Y/N liked him pretty much instantly. She wanted to get to know him more. Kai and Y/N spent most of the summer together. He even invited her to stay over at his apartment instead of spending money on a hotel , insisting she takes the bedroom after she had agreed to stay at his place. But the summer went by too fast… and Y/N had to leave to go back and finish her senior year. They spent their last day together in NYC at Central Park , walking around and talking. He watched her feed the ducks , chased her around the park , took pictures together. Kai even used his magic when she wasn’t looking making sure every detail of the day was perfect. “Where are you going ?” he asked , dropping her off at the bus station. In all their time together , the subject had never come up. They mostly talked , went for walks or bike rides or to the movies. Kai hadn’t even realised when he had fallen in love with her. Was it the time she crashed her bike and had a nasty fall resulting in a concussion or was it the time she had a nightmare and sneaked onto the couch with him into the middle of the night? He didn’t know , all he knew is for the first time ever he felt strong something for someone. “Virginia. A dusty old town called Mystic Falls.” she said. Kai froze on the spot. Of all places it had to be Mystic Falls. “My dad’s going to pick me up , don’t look so worried. Its a small town , nothing bad ever happens there. And ..  you can come visit me any time. In fact …” she said snatching his phone from his pocket.“That’s my address…OH and if my dad answers the door - do not tell him we lived together this summer. He is so annoyingly over protective , sometimes I just wish he never … Hey , are you OK ? You look all pale all of the sudden.” Kai was starring at the address Y/N had typed on his phone. He knew that address. It was the address of the Salvatore Boarding House which meant he knew who her parents were. How hadn’t it hit him earlier. She looked so much like her mother - her hair , her slim physique , except for the eyes - she had her father’s eyes. “Sorry , low blood sugar I guess… “ he said awkwardly , putting his phone back in her pocket before pulling her in for a hug.  Kai didn’t want to let go off her , knowing he’d probably never see her again. His heart broke at the thought and he felt his eyes water. “I’ll miss you Y/N. More than you can imagine… and I’ll never forget you or any moment we spent together. I’ll always remember you…” Y/N pulled away more confused than ever. “You are talking as if we’ll never see each other again. Its scaring me…  We will meet again.” she wiped a tear from his cheek. Kai never cried , he hated tears … she knew that much. Something must’ve gone wrong but she had no time to ask him about it then and there. The bus driver called out all passangers for Virginia and she had to go. “One more for the road?”  Y/N said waving her phone in the air. “Sure.” Kai said leaning in for their last selfie together. “You will send it to me right ? As a keepsake …” “Of course , just like I always do.” The bus driver called out again and Y/N gave him a kiss on the cheek and one last awkward hug before picking up her suitcase and heading towards the bus. “I’ll miss you more than words.” she said turning to take one last look at Kai. “I’ll miss you more.” he said smiling before wiping another tear from his cheek. Kai watched her get on the bus , waiting for the moment the vehicle disappeared from view before heading home , wishing he could change his past and be with her. There was no way her parents would agree for him to even look at her let alone let them be together. His phone buzzed and Kai quickly pulled it out of his pocket , taking a look at the screen - just as Y/N had promised , their last picture together was attached to her email along with a message.“See you soon , Malachai.” followed by a winky emoji.It took him a moment to realise he had never told her his full name. Kai turned around glancing at the bus in the distance with a mix of surprise and confusion on his face. “What … How .. ?!” Kai wanted .. no he needed to know , but he knew this conversation he’d have to have in person. He went back to his apartment quickly packing his things before going on the road again.
