Introduction

Each and every story is one waiting to be told. With so many ways to communicate it now telling your story is easier to do than ever before. We all deserve to share our story, but the bigger issue that can hold a person back is comparing their story to others. No two stories are alike nor is the reason behind wanting it told. This fear shouldn’t be what is holding us back from doing so. There are many reasons to want to put your story out there, and so many ways now to do it. Some may write it, draw, use photography, or video their story. Maybe sharing your story starts because you want to keep records of the memories, such as my case as my family has a history of Alzheimer's. Maybe you want to see if your voice can be the one to show others they aren’t alone, and maybe you just want to share your story even if your unsure of where it can go. No matter what sharing your voice and your story is important, and that is part of what’s led me to share mine.

Let me introduce myself, my name is Lizzie short for Elizabeth. In all honesty, Elizabeth is my middle name but I prefer to go by that then my first. I’m 25 years old and am a Texas girl born and raised. I have a Masters in Social Work and am an only child to a single mother who is an amazing woman in herself. I hope her story is one I can also share along with my grandparents who brought their family here from Mexico many years ago. I’ve been with my boyfriend James for over 2 years now, and we are what’s considered an interabled relationship. I want this blog to be a sharing of our adventures together, and our struggles. I feel that while this is not an uncommon relationship to be seen today for some people it is still not normalized. I would like to help show that our relationship is like any other, but also show and connect with others who may go through the same things we do personally and relationship wise. In my own life I’ve gone through many struggles and overcome my own challenges that I want to share to encourage anyone else facing similar struggles. I love writing and there are so many tales and tips I want to share with others. This is my story and I’m proud to share it.

#100outof100 @drphil said that 100 out of 100 relationships fail when caregiving is involved. I’m sharing this to show him that interabled relationships can and do work…even with caregiving. Greg and I have been together a little over 2 years now. I have Spina Bifida and a bunch of other chronic conditions. My health took a turn for the worse shortly after we got together, and Greg @ignorantsavage87 with me and has helped me immensely with caregiving. There have also been many times that I have cared for him during his challenging times. When you love someone, it’s what you do. My disability doesn’t mean I don’t deserve to be loved. Day 24 of the #chronicillnessandme challenge! 😸💖✨Today’s prompt is #peoplewhohelpme 💕 I decided to make the prompt about my number one supporter: my wonderful partner, Jeff 😘 Jeff believed me from the very first time I started to open up to him about my symptoms. He was with me at every appointment during my search for a diagnosis. He was there after each appointment, when I had horrible anxiety attacks; he comforted me and told me I was brave. He was there with me for every round of Xolair injections for the first 6 months, when I was scared and needed lots of distraction to get through it (top left picture is from one of my Xolair injection appointments). He always assures me that it is okay for me to rest when I need it. He gives me neck massages for my headaches, including the times when I tell him there’s no point; and he’s right, it is soothing and healing and worth his time even if the headache doesn’t go away and I’m still unable to sit up. He helps me practice my distress tolerance skills. And so many other things. on today's episode of fatigue absolutely kicking my ass.

my girlfriend was tired after work so i offered to make dinner.

the pot boiled over 6 times because i kept zoning out. when i went to clean up the spill after it boiling over the first time, burned my hand on the stove top because i forgot that stove tops get hot.

my girlfriend asked me, "are you right or left handed?" and dumbass just could not if i have a dominant hand. i thought, what a weird question--of course i'm either right or left handed, and said yes. she laughed. "RIGHT or LEFT. right OR left."

after it boiled over the third or fourth time, i started crying. i've sucked my thumb since i was in the womb and it soothes me, so i started sucking my thumb. my girlfriend jokingly called me a baby and i cried harder.

she came over to help me out. "the stove light should be on," she said before turning it on. i didn't register that she had turned it on, that the light was on now, so i went to turn the light on again, almost turning it off. she stopped me before i could.

then she told me she'll finish cooking and to go rest. i didn't want to be alone and i felt bad for not being able to finish dinner so i sat down on the floor beside her as i cried.

she let me sit for a minute and i told her i felt bad for not finishing dinner. she said it's alright, there's nothing to be sorry for. then i went to lie down and watched cute animal videos until i stopped crying.
