Vox’s Rivalry with Alastor: Need for Control
The whole thing with Vox is control. He’s the embodiment of modern technology and surveillance. The privacy issues we face? In Hell that’s all Vox. And when you think of it like that his whole rivalry with Alastor makes so much sense on a logical level.
Things Vox Controls:
-The public: constant surveillance, brainwashing, and further control over media content they consume. He doesn’t just control what people watch but he watches people.
-This partners (to a degree): we see this with how he interacts with Valentino. He isn’t the one in CHARGE, but the thing with Valentino is he tends to be very explosive, and Vox is able to direct the blast in a direction that won’t harm him (offers to bring up employees for Val to kill so he won’t make a public display about Angel)
-Himself: We see how he puts so much energy on to be publicity ready and have a smile on his face. Talking very much like a businessman or politician. He acts completely different in front of camera.
Even his smile. Both Vox and Alastor use smiling as a mechanism to hide their true selves. But with Alastor it works as a way to keep people guessing, to inspire a level of fear oftentimes.
Vox isn’t like that. He puts on a fake, plastic smile. Alastor tries to make himself off putting on purpose, Vox doesn’t. He does it to keep them complacent. Alastor smiles so people won’t figure him out. Vox smiles so people trust him enough not to try.
We see that the second Alastor is brought up that smile vanishes. His self control is gone. Throughout the song we see him lose more control over his public persona, getting more visibly angry, while at the same time the public turns more to Alastor. Meanwhile Alastor also butters his partners up and publicly announces to the world that “no, Vox can’t control me. Trust me, he tried.”
Every single thing Vox controls is threatened when Alastor is involved. Vox has no way to control him.
-Methods he uses on the public? Surveillance and media? Won’t work because Alastor can’t be captured on camera well and hates modern technology. Brainwashing the public? Won’t work if they’re paying more attention to Alastor than him.
-His partners? Alastor declined his partnership and is willing to poke at the relationship between the Vees. All the Vees carry some weight in the relationship, but Alastor could make Vox seem obsolete. He’s able to control their public perception, yes- but one of them could easily go rogue and blow that to bits.
-Himself? Demolished. Gone. He has a public breakdown. He glitches out. Fully cries at the end of the song. Maybe it’s the fear of what Alastor could do, maybe it’s their past, maybe it’s Vox’s weird hate boner, maybe it’s unrequited feelings. Who knows. All logic and control goes out the window when Alastor is involved.
And the thing Alastor seems very much the same. He hates being under someone’s leash. He needs to be in control. When he’s reminded he’s not he lashes out. The first time we really see their masks break is when they’re reminded of the fact there is someone out there that is a threat to the control the have. The “What did you say?” they both do before lashing out.
I’m interested in seeing how they’ll interact in the future. Because they really do seem like two sides of the same coin. The only difference is we know who Vox is afraid of, we don’t fully know who Alastor is of yet. They need power over others, but more than that they need power over themselves. (Alastor being controlled by whatever the deal he made was. While Vox is controlled by his emotions towards Alastor. And both being controlled by their fear.)
( @gabrielsbubblegumbitch I’m curious on your thoughts? I’ve read some of your analyses 1’s would love feedback.)

@the-only-authority Why did you walk away from our previous conversation? It was not yet over with. I didn't *say* it was, I merely asked for a spot of time.
You'll have to excuse me, since I did not catch what you said or did while I was deliberating over your words. However, I believe the method I have constructed to find your intended meaning is accurate. If anything here is incorrect, I encourage you to point it out.
1. [...] He [...] avoids [...] me. (Yarns is a common nickname for Suggestion. Most likely referring to him. How often have I seen him interacting with Authority as of late? How many of these interactions diverge from their usual behaviour?) 2. [...] I [...] (need/have) to [...] fix [...] this. (My process does not seem to fit well for this sentence. "I need have to" does not make sense. Perhaps he went back on saying "need" -- why? It was befitting for the sentence. What does he think Suggestion did, assuming "he" and "him" both continue referring to the same subject previously established and that I am correct about it referring to Suggestion? What is "this", exactly?) 3. There has to be a way but I don't see it. (Emphasis from myself; this section was quite hurried. Something to note.) 4. If I can't [...] (control?). (Is this my perceptual set influencing what I've heard or is he *truly* going on about control yet again? I... don't believe I'm enthralled at the prospects of discussing this yet again, considering my previous and current responses. Exhausting? Unwillingness to repeat a conversation that will go nowhere. Perhaps I am incorrect -- the sentence does not seem to make sense this way.) (I wonder if any important information can be gleaned from both these statements and from the aborted words, that I'm missing? Perhaps find someone who would be able to practise double listening here. (Empathy) (Logic) (Suggestion) (Rhetoric..?) (Drama.) (You are completely useless.))
First of all, if you could confirm what exactly it was you were *trying* to say, that would be exponentially helpful; particularly on statements two and four as I am less certain on those.
...Don't mind those notes. Nothing important in them (and they're probably far too long for you anyway). I'll bring them up to you if they are.

Billy Hargrove X Little! Reader: Diner Stop PT. 2
Summary: Maybe Billy has room to grow, especially when he’s comparing himself to his mom.
WC: 1214
Pt 1    Pt 2
Tumblr media
Steve Harrington was standing there, hands on his hips. He looked mad. Dustin and Robin were close behind him.
“Oh… Hi Stevie!” (Y/N) tried to seem cheery and not at all nervous about her friend.
“What are you doing here? With him.” Steve asked, annoyed to be having to ask the question in the first place. She tried to reply and her words failed her, she looked like a gasping fish.
“I was giving her a ride home, and we got hunger. It is none of your business though, Harrington.” He said, not stopping cutting up (Y/N)’s food. Although, she was suddenly not hungry for the food he was preparing. Let alone being babied right now.
“(Y/N) you were meant to wait for me. You know how we feel about… him…” Steve sneered, fuming. It was almost like he had steam coming out of his ears. Billy was now paying full attention to the interaction infront of him. He was watching Steve’s every move and the way she was reacting.
“It was just he offered and you were not gonna be around for a while…” (Y/N) began to tear up at the yelling. This was not helping her current situation.
“Get up, I am taking you home. You shouldn’t be around him.” Steve said, he moved to grab her. Stopping as Billy grabs his wrist.
“Do not touch her. Ask if she wants to leave. She isn’t your pet.” Billy snarled at Steve, twisting his hand. “Do you want to go home with him? Or would you like to stay here for a little longer?”
“I should go with stevie, don’t wanna upset him…” She mumbled to him, wrapping her arms around him. To that he hugged her back before packing her food into a to-go box.
“Okay, here is your dinner.” Billy said, putting the box into Steve’s hand. Quickly standing up, grabbing (Y/N)’s coat. Once she stood up, he helped her in one arm at a time. A piece of paper was stuffed into her pocket.
Steve and (Y/N) quickly left. Steve glaring over his shoulder at Billy. He was unfanzied, a small smile on his lips, watching the light pink jacket retreating, every once and a while peaking over her shoulder. He smiled knowing he would see her tomorrow.
The drive home was awkward for (Y/N), Steve was quiet other then sighing and shaking his head. However, as they pull into her drive way, he spoke, “You shouldn’t hang out with people like him, he isn’t a good person. You need to understand that he could have done something bad to you.”
“He wouldn’t hurt me, he’s my friend.” (Y/N) replies quick to defend her friend.
“That’s not true! That’s what he want you to think!” Steve yelled, startling tears into her eyes. The way she trying to shove herself into the car door to get farther away from him caused him to sigh. He began again, “I don’t want to see you hurt. He is bad news, he has hurt Lucas and countless others. You can make your own choices, but i recommend getting as far away from him as possible.”
All (Y/N) does is nod, collecting their stuff and saying goodbye. She rushed inside of the house not wanting to be seen crying again. She threw her food into the fridge rushing to her room, not bothering to take off her shoes or coat.
Once comfortably in her room, she slipped out of her shoes and shimmied her coat down her arms. The shaking of the coat caused a paper to fall out of the pocket. This quickly caught her attention. After shoving her shoes under her bed and chucking her coat at the chair by her desk, she picked it up. Once unfolded, the paper showed 10 numbers and the name ‘Billy’ at the top.
Her eyes widen, before she rushed to the phone on the table by her bed. Her hands moved faster than her logical side. She wanted to hear her friend ago, she wanted to be small with him again and wanted him to reassure her that he wasn’t a bad person. She knew he was bad, but for a moment in time she wished to believe there was good in Billy Hargrove.
The ringing of the phone was deafening, until it wasn’t. “What do you want?”
Well that was a rude way to answer the phone, a pout rested on her lips. She spoke quickly, “Hiiii”
“Oh,” Bill took a deep breath, his voice turning softer, “Hey. Did you get home safe? Harrington didn’t say or do anything?”
“‘M home safe, gonna put jammies on soon. He said you were a bad guy and you huwt people, n that you gonna huwt me.” She said, the final sentence causing her to let the tears finally fall again.
“Oh baby, I would never hurt you.” Billy clenched his fist, he hurt a lot of people but (Y/N) was different. She was pure and sweet, and needed someone to look after her and care for her. He would do anything to keep her safe. It wasn’t a selfless appointment, as he liked how he felt like the type of person his mother was when he was with her. He wanted to be that person, “What kinda jammies are you gonna wear?”
“Mmm, Don know.” She said, as ruffling sounds fill the silence of the call. “Got rainbows or carebears… cant pick.”
“I think you should wear the carebears one, bet you look so tiny in it.” Billy said, a smile forming at the thought of her in it. However, he quickly realized you would be so tiny, and unable to care for yourself.
“Gon wear dat” She mumbled, haphazardly pulling at her uncomfortable big girl clothing. A thump could be heard as she pulled off the last article of clothes, sniffles and cries soon filled the call.
“Baby, what happened? Do you need me to come help you? I can be there in no time?” Billy rattled off question after question, stressing over the little one on the other side of the call.
“Nu-uh,” sniffle,” I otay now, hit my knee.”
Billy took a deep breath, she was okay. He quickly spoke, “That must have been scary. How about you get dressed and I will read you a bed time story. I think its past your bed time.”
“It not late, wanna pway!” She whined, while pulling the PJs onto her body.
“Don’t start talking to me like that little miss, otherwise I won’t get you hot cocoa and drive you to school tomorrow.” Billy threatened.
“You take me?” The surprise was evident in her voice, as well as the fact she was getting into her bed now.
“Good girl, I am gonna drive you from now on, gotta make sure my big girl gets to school safe.” Billy said.
“Otay, we go togedder.” She said, “Stowy?”
“Of course you can have a story, I’ll tell you my favorite one.” Billy said, pulling a book from his childhood out of a box hidden under his bed. He would read his favorite story as a kid, to you, just like his mother did for him.

Pls share your thoughts on Huey Duck I would eat them up so fast
Hello yes I would like to talk about him.
Huey's sweet and kind and responsible and everything but I also think sometimes he will be pretty insufferable when he puts on his know-it-all hat and you know what good for him.
On that note; I'm pretty sure while Huey is absolutely a balm on the salty wound left open after having so many gratingly sarcastic and rude characters be the foremost autistic representation in media.... the kid's probably got a mean streak buried somewhere in there next to The Duke. Like I don't think he'd take a hard insult to his intelligence or anyone in his family lying down. And he wouldn't play nice with someone who really deserved a dressing-down I don't think.
I'm talking cutting words. Biting. He's smart, he could have some truly nasty comebacks locked and loaded for whenever a day comes that someone makes him mad enough.
In this interaction,
Tumblr media
Huey says "are you really going to let our family get hurt because you're afraid to get hurt?" And I love it. It's kind of blink-and-you'll-miss-it because the scene immediately turns into a mad dash toward the sounds of lasers firing, but I caught it the other day and it stuck with me.
In moments like these, where a member of the main cast is put in the role of an advisor or counselor, we actually get a glimpse of their own psyche (when it's well-written and in character), as they attempt to transfer what they believe is The Right Thing To Do into the mind of the advisee. In this instance we, briefly, hear Huey speak one of his own core values. He speaks this idea of putting service/care to your family before your own means - before your own goals, discomfort, fears or limitations. Dare I say it's even a little sacrificial?
This message Huey presents is founded upon all of his strongest traits: responsibility, empathy, rationality and maturity. And for that reason (the coolest thing) this message Huey gives to Louie has a subtle through-line from the beginning of the show all the way to the end. Mt Neverrest is a strong example for this message being one of Huey's core values; wherein he instantly abandoned his personal quest to ensure the family's safety. And it pops up in so many little moments upon rewatching episodes.
I just think it's neat.
I think Huey's sadly not as strong a fighter as Dewey or Webby, about on par with Louie most of the time despite his y'know. Internal rage. He's saved by his quick thinking and ability to take advantage of any openings his calculating little science eyes spot.
But I also think branching off from that idea that Huey is a bloody dirty fighter and when I say he "takes advantage" I mean there will be zero hesitation. Sure, he can't fight in long, drawn-out brawls super well because 1 he's a little book boy and 2 he just doesn't have the spirit for fighting. But what he does have is logic - and not a lot of time to plan. So if Logic says that he only has a three fifths of a second to dig his fingers into this undead swordsman's eyes and pull out his optic nerves before he runs somebody through with his deadly sword than. You know. He does that.
And he DOESN'T get wrestling so he'd absolutely get disqualified or something for doing some crazy non-wrestling stunt like idk kicking someone in the throat.
Speaking of sports, we know Huey tried to get into football it seems and oh boy idk if that would have worked out well for him if he was in any position other than being the water boy. He'd either have panicked and gotten trampled or Duked out and gotten suspended..... tbh it more likely would have been the first.
We don't talk enough about how Huey sits at the proverbial "adult's table" in the family a lot of the time. Sure all the kids are treated as equals in skill and value by the adults but Huey's behind closed doors with the grownups, in the finale, the other kids actively being excluded from the planning circle he gets special privilege to be a part of like ISN'T THAT A BIT TOO MUCH RESPONSIBILITY?? He's a child???? Speaking as someone who used to be "the reliable/good/peace-keeping child" of my extended family, it can get pretty isolating being the one the adults trust the most with "important" business. I actually have a fic idea aaaaaaall about this that I started writing a while ago and I really want to finish it some day.
That's about all I could think of for the moment.... I've been dying to talk about some of this stuff, so thank you!

Chapter 107-2 thoughts
🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡
OKAY WELL!
Literally earlier, before the chapter came out, I'd said I'm not believing Hiyori is dead. They'd have to show Yato naming her to get me to believe that. And then this chapter happened. Fuck me, I guess!
It seems like the general reaction to this is that it's sad but I'm not really sad I'm just angry. As it is, we have two options: (1) this is all a fakeout, one last time, or (2) this is actually the intent and the series will end with Hiyori being made Yato's shinki.
Neither is really ideal. A fakeout this late in the game seems pointless and would likely involve an asspull of some sort, but the alternative is something that absolutely spits on the themes of the manga thus far and effectively negates the arcs of both Hiyori and Yato.
So all in all, I really wish they hadn't gone this route in the first place, but I'll take the lesser of two evils at this point. This manga has always been about overcoming tragedy, your past does not define you, the near and far shores cannot survive without one another but too much interaction disrupts the balance, et goddamn cetera. Making Hiyori Yato's shinki makes this story a tragedy, teaches Yato the same lesson he's already learned (HOSPITAL ARC), and eliminates the only near shore major character in the entire series.
Now the question remains: can they still reverse this? Like I'll take anything at this point, but is it even possible within the story's logic? I want to say yes, and I've already seen a few rumors flying--this dimension is all an illusion, the koto no ha is destroyed so the bubble is too, the gods can reverse all the people that have died from the creatures, it could be possible for Hiyori to become a god, etc.... I'm clinging on to that first one personally, but at the same time, I feel a looming dread because...Yato saw Hiyori's memories. He saw memories he didn't personally witness, which kind of makes me think this is the real deal. But I also really don't fucking want it to be?
"Ina wasn't your first fic for the fandom literally this exact concept" YES because what makes a good AU wouldn't always be good in canon, right? This was something I wanted to explore in the concept of fanfiction, because it's a different medium to play with different ideas. At the end of it, I kind of went, "phew, that sure would be bad, wouldn't it!" and went on with my life.
I dunno man. I'm just angry and sad and disappointed, and it's annoying to me as well to look back at all the other things they've resolved perfectly. I think of how flawlessly executed Yukine's arc was, and want to cry. Why can't Hiyori get this same luxury? Fakeout or not, her arc should've been her parting ways, preferably on her own terms, because that's what the story's been leading up to. Yes, her grandma told her to be with the one she loves, but I assumed that was just in the moment, and wasn't actually foreshadowing her death.
THE FUCKING. HOSPITAL ARC. SHE IS SIXTEEN YEARS OLD SHE CAN'T DIE YET. NOT UNTIL SHE'S AN OLD LADY!!!! YATO SAID SO!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHAT DID HE LEARN FROM THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NEVER LOVE ANYTHING I FUCKING GUESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
At this point I'm going to deny it either until Adachitoka says sike or the manga ends. But needless to say, my reread's been postponed. I've been putting it off because of being busy irl, but if I reread now I'll just be bitching the whole time, and I don't want to do that to myself, and I don't think you guys want to read that either.
If it ends this way, I'll be bruised and bitter for years. If Adachitoka says sike, and Father dies believing Hiyori is dead (cause what was up with him losing his eyes), I'll at least cherish this one small mercy, but man, this is a sore blow. I'm sorry that normally my thoughts are excited and this one's just angry, but I can't put a positive spin on this yet.
Feel free to send me your theories or copium. I'll devour them all until I get made a clown of once more.

arguing over how the godly DNA thing does/doesn’t impact shipping in pjoverse (aside from like, actual siblings obviously) is actually the stupidest thing ever. Just accept that the explanation was half assed / not written in a logical well thought out way but that we as a fandom have no choice but to accept it at face value and see it as a situation that isn’t analogous to the real world. I would say it’s similar to consuming paranormal media where all the main relationships are paranormal x immortal and you have to accept that as a trope of the genre / norm of the world rather than argue about 100 yr age gap vs 2000 year or something, when neither is appropriate and neither is analogous to like a teen show romanticizing a student-teacher relationship in a school setting which is technically less of a gap but sooo much more harmful in how it influences/relates to situations that happen just like that every day in reality (and this isn’t about ships with immortal x mortal like that in this verse necessarily since there are very few of them/it is not the norm, so I get people being uncomfortable with them (I Hate C*leo but my reasons for hating them aren’t necessarily that one)). There’s a false equivalency in trying to make demigod relationships out to be analogous to real life ones in that way and I haven’t seen one argument about this that isn’t blatantly just someone disliking a specific ship and trying to badmouth it and in doing so coming off as a hypocrite.
Like let’s see, ‘shipping Jasicois Disgusting idc what Rick says about DNA people are going to hell for shipping First Cousins 1!1’ okay… do you feel that way about Jercy? If you say yes you also hate that for the same reason do you feel that way about Pipabeth because Athena and Artemis are both daughters of Zeus making them ‘first cousins’ too (and here’s where I think you start losing people because in reality a lot of these arguments are based around the mlm ships but ignore the wlw ones because fandom has a very 2d way of interacting with ships like Pipabeth a lot of the time where sure a fan will say they Like the ship but they’ve never in reality ever given actual thought to their dynamic enough to notice this (also applies to things like arguing about a 1.5 year age gap for other ships like Jasico/Valdangelo maybe Jercy if they actually remember their 1.5 age difference but not being able to catch that Annabeth is also 1.5 years older than Piper because again it’s usually transparent when people haven’t actually payed the attention the female characters and f/f dynamics they pretend to, also 1.5 years is not a serious age gap like 3+ years is when it comes to ya/middle grade but this isn’t about that) And if you are taking the stance that what Rick said about godly DNA is like, a lie (when it is fantasy world-building albeit poorly constructed but still world-building) how are you going to ship Any of the demigods together if your answer is like amount of distances the family tree that’s also a bizarre/weird take because do you think shipping second cousins would be better/less gross/less harmful? Like by ‘Gods do have DNA actually’ logic Zeus is Athena’s father and Poseidon is Zeus’s brother so that makes Poseidon Annabeth’s great uncle and Percy Annabeth’s (As a die-hard Percabeth can’t believe I have to actually type this out to make a point I hate ya’ll for making me have to think about it this much 🤮🤢) Uncle ???!! Similar with Nico to Will and Hazel to Frank. Do you still believe what you originally spoke about? Like unless the take you have is that no demigods are shippable / you hate all ships between them the way these takes operate is Clearly not actually about like activism it’s because you dislike a ship and want to put it down/make it seem like other people should not ship it, be serious, and in the process you actually made everything much weirder and grosser than it needed to be in the first place.
And like listen… you can just hate a ship! There are always some valid criticisms of ships/dynamics I’m including ones I personally ship in this. You can State your actual reasons for not liking the ship instead of this hypocritical faux-activism. For example I personally dislike Jercy as a ship because I think it’s overrated and boring compared to more interesting dynamics, their relationship could have been a good one but almost all their interactions in the books involved this weird toxic masculinity macho bs that seemed ooc for both of them and I didn’t enjoy reading about them together much. But I’m not going to try and tell Jercy shippers that shipping Jercy is problematic and terrible because they’re cousins or a toxic relationship or something because I have a functioning brain thank you very much! People can go for what I don’t personally like. See it’s very simple. You don’t even have to have reasons like I gave! You can just not vibe with something.
*P*rcicos dni this is not about you! No I don’t think the cousins argument holds weight there anymore than for other ships but their age gap + power imbalance Is troubling in a real world context in a way that doesn’t apply to other ships I mentioned ( Frazel similar in age gap but not in power dynamics, and I dislike Frazel too) the combination of 3.5ish years age gap + Nico having idolized Percy to an unhealthy degree for years/since he was a ten year old child + Percy very much views Nico as a child in his narration in pjo and that means he would never look at him in a romantic light at any point in the future, if you think otherwise you just don’t care or get Percy’s characterization frankly. I don’t support relationships that have such a troubling imbalance in a real world context. (It should go without saying L*kabeth L*kercy Th*labeth and dynamics with super egregious imbalances like that dni again not about you).
Most of the really irritating stuff I’ve seen about this is on twt I just felt the need to write all this out here

Do you happen to have a personal opinion on the boys according to how you connect to them spiritually?? It's fine if you don't wanna answer tho 🙏🏻
hongjoong is so giving! he's very used to giving first and worrying about himself second, like a parent. he appreciates it when you anticipate his needs and does most of the work, in order for him to chill but he really doesn't mind giving at all. that smile and proud look on his face, is 100% genuine, he's very much in love with people and he has a precious, sparkly soul. he loves his job, he has so much appreciation for his fans and the respect he gets in the company but his energy often feels like he needs to prove himself and like he's looking after everyone, but who's looking after him? he's not lonely, a bit overworked, I feel like he deserves to be taken care of and let go more oftenly.
seonghwa honestly feels overwhelmed very often, like he doesn't really know how to take care of himself! he can be a very confusing person because his heart says one thing but his mind says another, he let's his ego take the best of him and doesn't speak what he really wants or needs. he's not good with confrontation, he expects people to guess what's wrong with him and gets upset if they don't read his mind. seonghwa can be very childish, he'll talk your ear off if you let him, he wants to be taken care of but won't ask, he'll just be like "oh my life is so difficult I'm so alone no one cares about me you can walk away like everyone does I'll be ok no one cares".
yunho is another guy with a huge ego, he's most closed off to spiritual things that he doesn't understand, he's logical and will only respect you if he understands you rationally. he's so judgemental and defensive but he's not harmful at all, he thinks he does way more damage than he actually does, very impulsive, speaks before thinking, thinks he knows everything. "he makes no sense in his head". a super nice guy tho, he's 1 or 100, he's either very comfortable or terrified. he's complicated. recently I tried connecting with him and he reacted like he saw a ghost, he said "it's creepy", but he was very curious. with him, I always gotta explain everything all over again, everytime, every detail or else he doesn't open up, and you gotta give him a rational explanation or else he's creeped out. pretends that he's the one taking care of others but it's the opposite, looks at mingi for safety.
yeosang is just always having fun, it doesn't matter what's happening he's in his own world comfortably. he's very excited everytime we connect, he shows fascination towards spirituality and these things. like wooyoung, he doesn't say many words, very different from other members, which makes it a bit confusing to write down his energy. he doesn't seem to understand so he has much respect for those that do this with accuracy, again, very excited about this. he's definitely much different from his idol image, but not much different than how he interacts with other members, he's genuinely comfortable with them.
san doesn't want me to post anything
mingi is very open to spiritual connections, a super nice dude, will give you the best advice (even if you don't understand why, listen to him). he doesn't have much respect for people or practices that he thinks are superficial, he thinks most people are disgusting. he's a super funny dude. can be rude, careless and forceful if his needs aren't being met, but completely harmless, has a heart of gold. prone to boredom, sleeps most of the time, totally prone to mood swings, feels the most lonely and desperate between the members, they look at him like he's a baby emotionally, and they gotta take much care of him, but he's also looking after everyone all the time quietly, he knows everything about the way each person functions and exactly what they need to be happy. he's not good multi-tasking.
wooyoung feels much more tired than everyone else, he can see through everything and he knows if something he does will get through to someone or not so he knows when to try or not or when to do something or not. feels like the oldest soul in ateez (to me). like yeosang, doesn't say many words so it's difficult to write down his energy.
jongho is just a nice guy, I haven't had any trouble at all with him, he's usually open to this stuff. he's very consistent, confident, open, he can be very vulnerable if he trusts someone. he likes to take care of others, good at predicting the future, he's very good standing his ground, unshakable.

Your posts about SNW Spock makes me so curious, could you please explain how they've done him wrong since he seems very different from the original series :O Are they making him more human despite the SNW taking place before the og?
yeah i can! im not the best person to talk about it probably since im a pretty recent trek fan and also tos/spock arent parts of trek i care about as much as a lot of other fans, but i have opinions for sure!!
firstly just up front i do not like ethan peck as spock. he does not look like spock or act in a way i am satisfied with. it feels like the only reason they cast him was because he has a deep voice. so i am going forward in this with haterism for him specifically not JUST how he is written in snw
Spock is written not like a vulcan but like an anhedonic human. actually not even anhedonic, just like a human raised in vulcan society trying to blend in. like there is nothing about him that feels genuine he just feels like woobiebait for 2012 tumblr to make flower crown edits of because he is awkward and quirky. every scene involving spock is a joke about him and his demeanor, everything he says is a wink wink nudge nudge "lol vulcans act like this and its so stupid lol logic is silly" like i can physically feel a laugh track whenever hes on screen. i enjoy jokes about vulcans but it isnt funny when there isnt anything else. its like spock showing emotion, it isnt satisfying when its a constant and not a little treat peppered in. in snw hes stifling a giggle or screaming in pain or being oopsie awkward silly every time he gets a focal scene, it takes the magic away because now it isnt a rare break in character its just how he is. Ive seen a lot of people defend this aspect as him being young and therefore less mature than in tos, but hes like approaching 30 :\ i get him being less mature but he doesnt act like a sheltered 30 year old he acts like someone freshly 18. at this point its just like…MAKE A NEW CHARACTER!!!!
as a point of contrast, i like how uhura is written in snw (in season 1 anyways, she has barely appeared in s2) she is obviously younger and is growing into her spot on the crew, but they arent hinging her character on the 1 or 2 pop culture uhura moments, retconning anything about that that doesnt align with modern media fandom, and calling it a day; they actually expand on her character outside of like idk her doing a sexy dance and her sitting at the phone (though i guess it is easier for her since she had barely any character in tos anyways). meanwhile they DO do that with spock, his bullet point top 10 iconic spock moments of sometimes being awkward and showing emotion are now the only things he is allowed to do. tldr flanderization
i also think its interesting that it is this way since ethan peck played spock in discovery and there hes the exact opposite. hes extremely serious and vulcan; which fits the tone of the show (regardless of my opinions on the tone of disco). i just dont understand how that spock translated into the snw spock. they are not the same guy.
anyways on to the biggest plot related gripe with him...how he interacts with women!!!yay!!
first theres how they decided to have multiple episodes about his, apparently, strained-yet-loving-and-involved relationship with tpring. the inclusion of t'pring feels stupid because other than the 1 minute of cheap "oh i remember her!" from someone seeing her on screen for the first time what point is there to her returning when the ONE canonical fact about her is that she and spock A: had an arranged marriage, B: did not meet in person since they were children, and C: hated each other. its not like there is a huge contingency of t'pring/spock shippers holding out since 1967 so what value does reintroducing her as a character serve? i assume its as some kind of attempt to give a woman who previously had no real character something to do, but her existence on snw is STILL only about spock and her relation to spock so there isnt any sort of feminist level up happening. including her was not interesting enough to justify retconning the plot of the most iconic episode of star trek. especially when multiple episodes tonally and stakes-wise rely on you caring about them as a couple, and anyone watching who knows who she is already knows that her and spock dont have any relationship to speak of in the future so who is this for? if you really really just NEED spock to have sex with a woman why not make a new character? that would also suck but at least it wouldnt be timeline interfering. im not even a huge continuity purist "oh no!!the timeline!!!plotholes!!!" but when the situation is the writers deliberately breaking the continuity in large ways and the outcome isnt even fun? stupid.
and now his relationship with chapel. i am way more annoyed by this one since its just gross. so from tos the only thing with them is that chapel has a crush on him and spock is not interested. also worth noting that its such a non-plot related thing that it only is revealed under the influence of alien drug virus that makes you horny. and they decided that not only was that enough to base a whole reciprocated romance arc around, but now since theyve introduced tpring back into the story, spock is now a cheater??? what is the POINT of breaking canon to introduce spocks girlfriend only to go "well actually hes horny for his coworker" like...that isnt how love triangles work youve just done a character assassination. the man who would rather kill his best friend than have sex with his wife is now fucking both her and the woman who confessed to him and he got so mad he crushed a computer with his bare hands. ok 👍. i just hate that they chose spock to be the romantic center of the show. anyone else could have been the character who gets into relationship drama why spock? there are multiple new characters who could have taken up the position. and its not like spock has nothing else to do as a character without it
to say things specifically about the most recent epsiode since it was particularly annoying and showed things that happen throughout the series:
firstly spock just does shit thats stupid. illogical even. i know the whole logical fallacy moment with vulcans but when it isnt a point of note in the show and rather just happens as if its a normal occurrence for spock as a person im like...he would be a laughing stock on vukcan and not have any of the positive reputation he holds.
the plot of this ep was basically that spock gets turned completely human and they just miss literally the whole point of it. vulcans have MORE emotion than humans, they ACTIVELY suppress it. yet when spock is turned human he just experiences human emotion completely emotionally? he should be having an EASIER time suppressing his emotions. and OMG he gets a BONER because he sees a hot WOMAN LOL LOL isnt that funny? spock got hard isnt that hilarious? its just so cheap. they act like being human makes him a completely different person, they played it like the voyager episode where belanna gets split into human and klingon BUT in that case she was literally split into two different people (this ep had a lot of issues too ie racism but that’s a different can of worms); here spock just becomes human he still has the same memories and training and history...why would he forget what its like to be a vulcan. they could SO EASILY make excuses too but they just didnt care. and anyways bada bing bada boom the ep ends with him and chapel hooking up which i already complained about and could complain about more.
i think thats already too much so im gunna stop myself here but trust theres more i hate and other people have probably talked about this better than i have :')

1, 8 and 9 for Ethe for the OC Questions
:3
Hi!!
would this oc fight you if they could?
OMG, YES. both as a 9 year old and as a young adult. She even becomes somewhat of a bodyguard later (slight spoiler?), but her means of protection are a bit... unconventional. but definitely. if she met me and found out i decided her fate, jesus, my life would be over, but not in a dead way, which is worse.
8. has there been any part of having this oc (designing, writing, drawing, etc…) that was difficult?
Finding her voice, because I wanted her speech patterns, thinking process and writing style to be so unique that is hard to mistake her for someone else. I don't know if I nailed it, but the idea of going back to write her after four months of not touching that story makes me feel a bit anxious, because what if it doesn't sound like her anymore, you know?
Another thing is her appearance, because at the very beginning I wanted her to be like the female version of L, but then I changed it, 'cause I thought it would've been a bit unoriginal, and after I enstablished her many problems, I also realised that it would've defeated one point of the story.
9. what is your favorite part of having this oc?
As much as writing her is hard for me, I still love writing her. It's my favourite part.
All her interactions with L are funny to write, like
"Are you sure you're in the right kind of institution, Ethelinda?" L asked as I rested my hand on the doorknob. "Do you want to find the answer to that too?"
but those with Lex are funnier. She doesn't want to be mean to him, but comes across like that, and doesn't even realise it, like she thinks saying stuff like, "Is he [Simas] sharp-sighted or are you limited in observation? It wouldn't be the first time you've demonstrated that" is acceptable. She says more out of pocket stuff later on, but even now, their dynamic is so good imo. Especially because Lex thinks she's just a bit strange you know, but in a cute and harmelss way, and then they have this type of conversations:
"So..." He looked around for a second. "How is that worse?" "The possibility was enough." "You could have paralysed me." "I could do far worse." "What...?" He whispered and I realised what I had just said and bitterly regretted it.
And he's like, "tf... is she joking right? of course she is", while she's thinking of threating him into silence, because nobody has to know about her inclinations.
Her one liners are another thing that I adore, like the one I remember right now:
"Our friendship does not involve charity work." (to Ayla and Rae about L)
"Maybe you'd better start walking so you can make it to your room by tonight." (to Lex when he has crutches)
Lastly, how she spins some stories when she needs to lie. the grade exam accident is just... so good.
Before handing over the finished product, it seemed to me that everything had proceeded well: there had been no heated bickering, no bitter disagreements, we had managed to find a middle way and had even finished it before the deadline, so that we had the opportunity to reread it as many times as we felt the need to. However, at the time of the result, Roger had informed us that the work had fulfilled almost none of the requirements, which was a surprise. Simas had left the room immediately, without waiting for any explanation. I had stayed because I did not want to sour Roger's opinion of me. Apparently, the text had a thesis up to a certain point, before changing completely and continuing with another one, contradicting everything stated above. It had been logical for him to think that we had not actually communicated or had a dialogue; therefore, I had not argued back.
it's like... imagine if someone came to you and said like, "yeah, we worked so hard and i think we did a very good job. we even went over the finished product together and it was perfect, but then the teacher said that we fucking sucked ass and from his pov, that's true, that's so logical to think. i can't argue against that so i didn't defend us and we failed. have a wonderful two years redoing this grade :)"
best part is that she thinks she's great at lying like girl. are you sure about that.
but yeah. My favourite part of having her is writing her, basically.
Sorry, this is so long! But thank you for the ask <3333

Hello puppets theories #2: Why I can't see the handeemen as related
1/?
Special thanks to my discord sister (whose actually my best friend) and co-creator of the theories: @dolly-royal for hearing me rambling about evil puppets and cults, helping so much finding out my points, and bringing up points I did not notice.
This will be a jungle of many reasons why I don't see the handemen as related. There is a change individual posts will be created furthering these points.
And who from now on will be part of my tag list for my theories and observations
(If you want to be part of the list or wish to part take in discussions feel free to DM!!)
special thanks to @dreamland-creations for hearing my rambles and seeing my constant screenshots (ily little meow meow/planotic/affectionate)
Before reading this, please read my previous lore for more dept:
(I am linking the one with the reblog because Andrew replied to that tweet I shared, and explain to me the connection but sorta confirmed that Owen and Mortimer are indeed Gods)
As a quick recap. I came out with the theory that Riley believed Mortimer was her "Father" at first as she tried to explain logically (avoiding the supernatural aspects) until she accepted that Owen created her and just sees Mortimer as a leader. She just refers o him as her "true father" out of respect.
I am adding here some things that I forgot to mention:
I am very well aware of the first Nick Nack tape, however I will say this: The tape is originally around in the early years of the take-over. I have a theory in-process regarding the timeline. So that means during that tape Riley was refusing Owen as her creator.
Going also back to the same point. Daisy canonically has said and it's implied she doesn't really care what the others do as long as they're nice to her. She hasn't shown any evidence based on the puppet interactions that she sees them as a family. So no, I don't think she sees Mortimer or Owen as her fathers.
Nick Nack is the only handeemen that doesn't address Mortimer as father or has shown to see him as such + Not to mention he doesn't treat the others as family or has any indications that he sees them as such as evidently with Riley and Daisy.
So, with those things out of the way. I'll start with a post I wanted to make for a long time and it's about my arguments of why I strongly disagree with the view the puppets are related.
Disclaimer: I am not calling out or criticizing those who believe it. Although this is my personal opinion, yours is just as valid as mine and you have every right to disagree with me. Until we have an actual response, we only have speculation
So, I'll divide this into several points that I am working alongside with Amber (Dolly-Royal) to address our POV.
Part 1: The talks about Gods: Owen is not actually viewed as a father.
This is mostly about the cannon fact that Owen is a puppet God. It is established several points in the game as well as in the tapes itself. This is a straight-up fact that was actually brought in the first hello puppets game when Scout and host find Owen's dead body turned into a puppet-like human and Scout saying the following:
"Shit! That's Owen, that's the guy that made us ...(proceeds to explain Owen creating them and how he regrets it now)... it is weird to met your god" (Scout, Hello Puppets!)
This probably seems like some sort of irrelevant, or simply a weird comment off made from the first game, but actually...this is shown and implied several times in the actual gameplay of the midnight show itself.
The first example that I can actually think it was implicitly implied that Owen was a sort of God to the puppets was during the second phase of Riley's level where Owen calls her "Atheist" after she denied that he created her and believed that the puppets evolved.
I can see people taking this as Owen commenting in the whole evolution reflects Atheist beliefs, but that wouldn't exactly fit within the conversation Owen and Riley were having. Owen could simply remark that he was her father instead of calling her an Atheist if it was actually the case that he was her father as in terms of family and not Father as "Father of creation", which she sorta implies during off the conversation in one of the tapes.
"We are just reflections of our creator. A river and a tributary." (Daisy Danger loyalty tapes #7)
This goes pretty much goes along with the whole "Owen is a puppet God" narrative in the Midnight show as a whole. I did mention before that as someone who grew up in a religious environment, I was not stranger to see people referring to God as "Father" (in terms of Father of creation)
So, I wouldn't be rare for the puppets to refer to Owen as their father of creation, while Riley wouldn't due to not believing in God (hence why she was a puppet Atheist) which does goes along with this phrase she says during our first encounter with her in the MS.
"The others may call you that; but as far as I am concerned, Mortimer is our father, and you are just a Lab Rat" (Riley Ruckus first level, Hello Puppets!: The midnight show)
I believe that Riley was making clear she wouldn't call Owen her father because he was not the one who breathe life into her as it was Mortimer who did so, and therefore should receive the title of "Father" according to her mindset.
I did briefly mention a theory of mine involving Riley perspective of Mortimer at the end of my first long post focused on the lore and talk more about the cult theory:
It would make sense for Riley to call Owen a simple nobody who is no use to her other than some testing subject. Why would she care about a God she doesn't believe in? After all, Owen is not a puppet but just a human, a cattle for them.
Anyways, outside Riley referring to Owen as "The creator" there are other instances in the tapes and the actual gameplay where Owen is implied or is referred to be a God. There are the mentions of religion of the game by Daisy, but I'll divulge into later. Strangely enough, Mortimer is the one who constantly has made a lot of religious comments and these implications, Riley appears to be the second one. Daisy and Nick don't really mention much.
Anyways, I'll start with the minor implications towards Owen being confirmed in the game to be a good.
"For the love of Owen!" (Mortimer, Nick loyalty tapes #1 I believe. Hello puppet Midnight show)
This one is the most straight forward. This is clearly a reference to the phrase "For the love of God!", except that God was replaced by Owen because Owen is the creator, and therefore the actual God figure of the puppets.
Second one is more of an implication
"You'd rat out Owen himself if it got you a pat on the head" (Mortimer, Daisy loyalty tapes #7, Hello Puppets: Midnight Show)
Although some might argue that they would say that Nick would rat out their "Father", I actually argue that Mortimer comment about Nick ratting out Owen is actually about Nick ratting God himself just to get the benefits
Which does go along with Mortimer calling Nick a "Judas" who according to the New Testament in the bible betrayed Jesus (who was also referred to as God himself) for some benefits, or what Mortimer implies "A pat on the head"
This is actually into Mortimer's character, but that would be part of another segment.
Anyways, the most important reference Mortimer directly makes into the game in this cut scene:
Tumblr media
Based on the context, and implications of Owen being a creator of the game, it's pretty clear Mortimer is referring to his situation with Owen himself as it's a conversation they have during that cutscene.
I am still trying to figure out what did the creators themselves particularly meant during that cutscene, but my best take is that Mortimer is referring to his plans to force Owen into submitting to the puppets.
The puppets have dark plans to survive and according to Scout take over the world, but well that might be just an exaggeration or an actual plan, but nothing of the sort was explained in the game prequel. We know that Owen tried to stop the puppets multiple times, and they would not be able to thrive because Owen did intend to undo the spell and at the end of the game it is implied that he wants to destroy them.
I would also love to mention something else Mortimer mentions "Owen's presence haunting the Handeemen." I think this has to do with the poetic parallel Andrew Allen mentions in this tweet:
Tumblr media
I do believe Andrew confirmed that Owen and Mortimer are considered Gods among the puppets themselves (which could explain why Riley refers as Owen was an impostor), but as the religion suggest, Mortimer would be always lesser than Owen himself, and even though he tries to give what the puppets need (A shaman, a guide) he would always be overshadowed by the greater God that created them all.
This actually reminds of the whole Satan and God complex in many religions. According to some beliefs (not mine) Satan wanted to be like a God, but he is always lesser to Jehovah/God/Jesus. Which ironically both are represented as the Evil (Satan) and Good (God) of the world.
Which would not be shocking if the creators got some inspiration by the major ruling religions of the world like Judaism, Christianity, and Islam (ironically, the later two taking inspirations from Judaism, and Islam from Christianity as well. Hence, why they are similar in some aspects)
Part 2: The Handeemen: It appears to be a cult
Heavy trigger warning for cult talks and cult characteristics.
For this section, I'll focus more into the character of Riley herself as she appears to have the most prominent behavior that I think might be hints it's not a "Family" but rather a cult
As my dear friend Stich pointed out in one of our conversations, we believe that the puppets are in, as she puts it, "A patriarchal cult" with Mortimer as their leader and the puppets as the twisted "Family" based on some strange behaviors the puppets exhibit throughout the game.
More notably:
"Mortimer should not be defied"
Throughout later in the tapes from the puppets and the game itself, you can see that Mortimer is being quite a respected individual and who the puppets will side with no matter what (more or less) it is clear that they follow him out of fear and also respect as he was the one who brought them to life and the one that they ought their loyalty towards him.
Still...they refused to go against Mortimer no matter what he does or what even Owen says.
I am well aware of the whole puppet rebellion but I actually have an interested take and I think I mentioned before in my headcannons, but I'll say it again:
Riley was visibly unsure when it came to "overthrow" Mortimer.
If you look closely at her conversation with Daisy in tape #12 (Riley's tapes) Riley has a peculiar way of sinking into the idea of betraying Mortimer:
"....That would be treason..."
If you listen to the tape closely, you can actually hear Riley is rather muttering with a slight hint of horror in her voice. Not to mention she takes a pause before saying more loudly
"If Mortimer knew..."
Wish is obviously referring to Mortimer getting upset about the idea but she's unable to bring herself to finish the sentence as she knows what Mortimer would do, which Daisy does explain that Mortimer would pretty much make Riley's life a living hell as Daisy suggest Riley should become the new leader.
Surprisingly, the first thing Riley says is a direct "No" as she starts to have a hard time explaining why she disagrees if you focus on the way her VA (Jannel Bierch) delivers this line.
"No. This...This is not a rational plan."
What I find interesting, besides Riley having issues with Mortimer's leadership over the puppets, Riley is quick to refuse the idea of throwing "A'coup", and it's actually Daisy that convinces her to carry on with the plan but rather tackles on one of Riley's ego to convince her to carry out the plan as if you noticed, Riley seems to be a character that adores admiration and to prove herself constantly as a character and be always right.
Still, even though she carries out with her plan, she still makes clear she doesn't want to do this and has no choice according to her last tape: Riley's loyalty tape #15
"Mortimer. Our true father. Our leader. It gives me no pleasure to say, that we have assembled here to dispose you today.....I will always revere the name Mortimer Handee; but your leadership has become unsteady, and it's time for someone else to lead the puppets to glory."
What I find curious is how Riley still remains respectful towards Mortimer even after she announces that she's trying to overthrow him. She even makes clear that this is something that could potentially pain her, but stills holds respect to Mortimer Handee as a character.
Why am I bringing this up? I'm bringing this up because I believe might have the mentality of a cultist in regard to her leader that are common within cults. I've been trying to reach articles in regard to the subject, but I would divulge more into the whole what makes them a cult than explaining the whole "family aspect", so decided to pull out some small characteristics of this small article.
More specifically, I want to bring these particular points out.
Tumblr media
One of the biggest things that made me curious about why the Handeemen particularly remained loyal to Mortimer besides his treatment of them and how tired they are of him. I think this particular characters goes well with the whole
"Not defying Mortimer" and the portions I show of Riley's dialogue, that are proof that she's still loyal to Mortimer regardless of what he did to her. Before any of you tell me "Phantom, he manipulated Riley to stay with her with Rosco"
I do agree, but if you look closely at these subtitles and the way Riley thanks Mortimer then it does become clear Riley easily fell into her devotion with Mortimer:
Tumblr media
This was one of the biggest hints that the Handeemen were a cult was the way Riley behaved around and some of the things she said. One of the other hints that she gives is in her personal dialogue in tapes and outside tapes:
Riley almost never talks about herself in a singular way when it comes to the handeemen. It is almost always the Handemeen as a whole. She does occasionally refer to herself, but when it comes to the Handemen it is always "We" as a whole.
Even she addresses when she complains about Mortimer, she briefly mentions "Yeah, he constantly gets upset over me because he forgets what he ordered me" but her biggest complaint is how "Mortimer is going to bring down the puppets"
Once again going with the whole "Us" mentality, and I think this portion of the article might be the reason why:
Tumblr media
When you think more about this, that would make much sense into why Riley would be more concern about the Handeemen than for example let's say Owen or any of the hosts, and event Scout herself.
I have another reason why she acts the way with Owen and the other humans, but let's focus on Scout for a moment.
In the first game Riley mentions that she doesn't consider Scout "A Handeemen" in other words, she is not one of their kind. I've always wondered about why Riley despises Scouts so much and I think it is not exactly about her [Scout] being created to destroy the handeemen (which I highly doubt Riley is aware) but rather this:
Scout can arguably be considered as an outsider to the Handeemen group since she's not a handeemen (which furthers down my point)
I am mentioning this because I want to elaborate into a possible meaning of "Family" in the sense of the cult based on these two observations.
Outside like one or three mentions of the usage "Father" Mortimer is referred by his first same and is talked more about as a leader than a "Father." (there is no evidence proving he ordered not to be called a father)
What Riley considers her "family" just goes into the three Handemeen, however, she treats them more as colleagues/and a leader rather than a family + she referred to them as a family in just two "occasions" but gave no indication she sees them as such.
As I established before, Riley is nonetheless a loyal follower to Mortimer's cult. As from my previous point, I believe that Mortimer has more the association of a God than a father (another hint that is a cult) and I believe that everyone may probably have misinterpreted the whole "puppet Children"in the literal sense rather than creations considering Mortimer thinks of them more as subjects than a family (which I strongly believe he was using to guilt-trip the handeemen into submission)
Tumblr media
(This is from Superhorrorbro tapes video. This is tape #15)
I think the whole "family" and "children of Mortimer" has a lot to do to what my good friend Stich herself said as she believes "The Handeemen are in a Patriarchal cult as a twisted "Family". "(implying she agrees they are not related)
Like I mentioned before, the usage of family can have a different connotation when it comes to religious subjects, and it is not strange for cults to use the terminology of "Family" to refer to the group inside the cult (which was confirmed by an ex-cultist.) E.I Charles' Manson's cult was referred to as a "family" even though the members were not related to each other at all.
This most likely tackles into one of the aspects cults tend to do with the followers as a form of abuse and control (taken from this Article this would be used a bit more into part 3)
Tumblr media
I did mention before that I believe the puppets have needs of their own. According to Marlow's hierarchy, there is a need for love and belonging which correlates to something the cults prey upon to gather new followers, and I believe this is where the whole "family" thing becomes strong.
Family for the puppets is not about being an actual family. They are in a closeted group, an elite group (according to the previous "cult characteristics article" for a better explanation)
Tumblr media
(I'll argue that instead of humanity, is referring to the well-being of their kind)
The usage of family to them is more about being part of something and belong. This can be a parallel to the religious aspects of cults. Although it's not prominent, the references to religion and Gods is no stranger in the game and is another aspect of the cult. This goes along with the "how to stuff article" mentions briefly in one of the things cults seek out for leaders that I mentioned later.
The best example of what I mean with the "family" usage of things would be from a work of Stephen King himself "Children of the Corn." For a quick summary, here's what google summarizes the movie to be:
Tumblr media
I hardly doubt that all the children may be related (some might be) but I can see a parallel of them as just as the Handemmen being the loyal subjects who serve a higher figure and leader: Mortimer Handee.
This also goes along with Mortimer being referred almost always as the Handeemen leader, which even Riley does. Outside tape 1, Mortimer is simply referred by his name which I found strange.
He's always refer as Mortimer and "Sir" but not father. Like I said before, there is no indication that he demanded not to be referred as, but this might be because of the whole cult structure and calling Mortimer their leader and refer to his name is a sign from the puppets that they respect him.
Mortimer constantly refers to himself as a person of higher standing, which Andrew did confirm (think) that the puppets are in a sort of hierarchy where Mortimer comes first. He does imply it with this:
Tumblr media
The game itself also treats Mortimer as the ultimate power of the puppets, which goes along with what I am saying.
There are also many points I want to bring about the cult theory, but that will divulge less into the subject of "Not being related" into this series of analytical posts, so that would be another thing for another set of posts.
I'll eventually released the other posts and make a master posts combining all of them into one place as Tumblr will not allow me to post pictures.

Hi! I'm so glad I found your blog, I'm absolutely delighted with your metas! I have a few questions about Hannibal. Sorry, I'm new in the fandom and probably you've already been asked about something similar ^.^
Could Will be happy in a relationship with Alana? Because it seems he dreamed of handing himself over to someone normal, since he could no longer trust himself (It was with this offer that he came to Hannibal with a bottle of wine). It seems that he would have belonged to Alena entirely, unlike Hannibal, who only used her. Despite the fact that he has outgrown her in s2, he still dreams about her during sex with Margot, because he really had feelings for her. And she was clearly hesitating in s1, both wanting and fearing a relationship with Will. He could persuade her, what prevented him?
It seems that Will's desire to kill "bad" people and get pleasure from it is the main reason for his struggle with himself for 3 seasons. Why did he resist so much, considering that Hannibal was ready to become his patron along the way? This desire does not look so terrible, and Hannibal looks like an ideal partner for investigating and killing criminals. What would Will be like without this internal struggle (where is our season 4)?
Would Will be able to live without Hannibal in s4 - finally become honest with himself, having learned and accepted the truth about himself? If he had to save Hannibal in the ocean, would he have saved him, or would he have meekly accepted responsibility for his act saving only himself? In fact, I still have a lot of questions, I think they are all quite banal, but I really want to discuss the answers with someone who really understands the logic of the series! Thank you again!
Hello! Thank you so much, I'm happy you liked my metas <3 And no problem - welcome to the fandom!
1) I think Will and Alana never had romantic feelings for each other: Will liked the idea of having a normal relationship with a beautiful normal woman because he needed it for stability while Alana confused pity with attraction.
By the start of S1, he and Alana have never had one-on-one interactions, someone was always in the room with them. Will refers to her pretty impersonally as “Bloom” to Jack in E1. He starts flirting with her when they see each other, but he almost never seeks her out first. He remembers about her only when their paths actually cross. There are about 2 exceptions, from what I recall.
a) He calls her first in E8, when he’s feeling unstable and worried about it, and asks her to come help him find a possibly wounded animal. At the same time, he doesn’t see it as romantic. Everything below is from the script, including text in the brackets.
Alana: You invited me over to help you collect animal parts?
Will: I invited you over on the off chance we find it alive. Hard to wrangle a wounded animal by myself. (then, realizing) Did you think it was a date?
Alana: Honestly, it never crossed my mind.
Will is at first relieved, then almost disappointed.
This is a good demonstration of his feelings. He isn’t actually interested in a romantic relationship with her, but he wants to be interested in it.
b) The second time Will seeks her out first is to ask about her safety when Gideon escapes. In the majority of other instances, Alana is the one to come after him.
In E8 again, Alana comes to visit Will at the moment when he’s particularly freaked out by his instability. He kisses her with genuine passion - and with desperation, too. That’s what he and Hannibal discuss.
In their conversation, Will says he always wanted to kiss Alana because she’s “kissable”. He doesn’t describe her qualities that make him like her, he doesn’t say anything about deeper emotions - he merely refers to her in terms of his physical attraction to her. Hannibal rightfully notes:
Hannibal: You waited a long time, which suggests you were kissing her for a reason in addition to wanting to.
Will admits it’s true. It’s another point proving that his interest is superficial. He never bothered to actually pursue Alana until he got scared because of losing control. They confirm it again in the following lines. Will tells Hannibal how he freaked out because he thought there was an animal in his chimney and adds:
Will: I sleep walk. I get headaches. I’m hearing things. I feel unstable.
Hannibal: That’s why you kissed her. A clutch for balance.
Will nods here. Also, they deleted this bit, but he actually also had to say:
Will: Because I’m losing mine.
So it’s a confirmation that Will focused on Alana because he was scared of being even more abnormal than he usually is. He does care about her and he likes her, but their relationship has always been shallow. They don’t know each other much. Also, I don’t think Will could ever love her for real because of who he is. The thing Will craves most is acceptance and understanding. Alana can’t give him that. They have an interesting conversation related to it a bit in E11.
Alana: Would have been fun cozying up with your dogs in front of the space heater.
Will: Don’t need protective custody to cozy up with my dogs. Or me for that matter. Just a little more stability on my part.
So Will acknowledges that for Alana to like him, he has to change. But his instability is largely who he is (not counting encephalitis) - even when he was physically healthy, he was still unstable because of his darkness. That’s why Alana didn’t feel comfortable staying alone with him until S1. She can’t give him unconditional love, and that’s what Will needs. Another telling conversation is with Hannibal.
Hannibal: She would feel an obligation to her field of study to observe you. And you would resent her for it.
Will: I know.
It all comes down to them being fundamentally incompatible.
In S2, Will is not profoundly hurt when he realizes Alana has no feelings for him (during the talk with the lawyer she hired), though he’s upset and grim at the realization. He’s angry and disgusted upon realizing she’s with Hannibal now, but he shows no actual hurt or heartbreak - he’s concerned about his relationship with Hannibal already. He shows the same behavior back in S1 - his dreams are filled wth darkness and Hannibal/Wendigo; he shares his most intimate thoughts with Hannibal; he covers up murder for Hannibal and Abigail, while Alana comes to his thoughts only when she’s physically there, when he’s losing control, or when she’s in danger.
So, in my opinion, their bond has always been shallow, and it never went further than superficial friendship and physical attraction. And it fits with Will’s character. He wouldn’t have been happy with her because he needs acceptance. He needs to be with someone who knows him and loves him anyway. We see from his bond with Molly that simply being with a normal person and living a lie doesn’t cut it for him. It’s not authentic, and his and Alana’s bond would have been doomed to fail, too.
Alana, I think, is attracted to Will and feels sorry for him. I don’t see any genuine romantic feelings from her side either - the worse Will feels, the more she cares about him; when he feels fine and confident, she loses interest and becomes intimidated.
As for Will’s sex dream in S2, he starts out by fantasizing about Alana only to end up fantasizing about Hannibal and even reaching an orgasm upon seeing him. This is very telling, in my opinion: he wants to want normality but he wants something else. Something darker.
2) I think Will's resistance to his darkness was tied closely to his doubts about Hannibal's feelings for him.
He didn't want to be just another Randall or Margot; he didn't want to finally embrace what he hid away from for all his life only to be abandoned. Will is closer to accepting his darkness when he doesn't have doubts about Hannibal's love for him. Without this struggle, I think Will is going to feel free and full of life. He'll perfect his design.  I think Will is going to kill when an impulse strikes. For example, he might go shopping, without having any dark plans, and end up murdering someone because the circumstances pushed some unfortunate soul onto his path. Will might or might not display the body depending on his mood. Today he can be in an artistic mood, but tomorrow he’ll be in a violent and impatient one, wanting to destroy the body entirely and leaving a total mess behind.
Will might prefer to kill “bad people” in the first two seasons, but it’s the process of murder that excites him. So I see his righteous choices as a preference that helps him justify his dark nature partly, not the core reason for his violence. Hannibal seems to be moved by his interest in human nature and his hunter instinct, but Will, I think, is a truer killer because he actually feels drunk on murder. Unlike Hannibal, he looks downright euphoric when/after he kills Randall and Francis. In TWOTL, Hannibal is more focused on the fact that his dream came true and he and Will killed someone together, but Will seems primarily caught up in the murder after-shocks themselves. Hannibal thinks about Will, Will thinks about how beautiful blood looks under the moonlight.
So, I believe that at first, Will will stick to killing bad people like murderers, but once some times passes, his need for justifications will fade. He’ll move on to rude people, only his rude will differ from Hannibal’s. Hannibal doesn’t differentiate between genders and ages, but I think Will will. He’s interested in a feeling of power, like he himself says, in a sense of dominance, so he’ll look forward to a fight. He won’t be interested in attacking a teenager like Cassie, for instance, because the power imbalance is too prominent. But as soon as someone more equal does something Will heavily dislikes, something that wakes his bloodlust (a personal insult, physical or verbal abuse toward other people/animals, etc.), he’ll attack. He’ll be careful - he knows how to avoid being caught, but it will still be unpredictable and passionate. Will is a storm to Hannibal’s calm.
3) He'd definitely save him.
I don't think Will is able to live without Hannibal, that's what his attempt to marry Molly and leave Hannibal in prison were about: he tried, it didn't work out. He accepts it in TWOTL and he knows now that he'll follow Hannibal anywhere, whether in life or in death.

I went and archived some of gingers posts concerning lily. If you look up her url on the way back machine, specifically everything archived on the 10th of August, you will find posts concerning when she started first mentioning lily on her Tumblr (end of 2014, she was barely 15 at the time as can be seen in another post), some inappropriate interactions with lily, a weird focus on lily's and Lizzie's relationship, admittance that she drew lily's puppet naked, read Stockholm, and knew plenty about the kind of shit lily has been accused of. Oh also a post about how much lily loves shipping firebrand. All while she was 15-16. Some context for some of the posts: she used to go by miss mystery. I didn't archive every little thing but ginger seemed to REALLY want lily to notice her ... (Which in itself isn't bad but she figured out what would get her noticed, which with lily... Yikes)
the thing that stands out to me through your description alone, anon, is that: 1. ginger was public about her age. it wasn't a mystery for anyone that was a underage teenager. 2. despite this... LO never did anything to stop her advances. never said that it was inappropriate for her to do NSFW with her avatar, never discouraged it. teenagers being dumb in the internet is nothing new, but as the adult in that situation, LO owed to her audience to at least put that kind of rules in place. if she screens every fanart that she gets (which she should have because sometimes people do want to troll through that route), the age of the artist should have been a factor too. you can't always know, but on the case of ginger... no, for what you tell me, she very easily could have find that out if she wanted to. 3. the only thing that LO ever said against the allegation that she groomed ginger is that yes, she knew that ginger was underage when she first follower her (confirming your description that ginger was public about it), but still didn't let her be part of the "inner circle" until she reached 18 years old. a year after that, when ginger was 19, suddenly they were all together in a polyamorous relationship. because she was an adult at that point, the logic of LO is that everything is fine and nobody should have to say anything about it because adults can do whatever they want with other consenting adults. but that actively ignores how LO still didn't put any limit to how her underage audience interacted with her, how it was her responsability from the start to do so. EssenceOfThought has an entire video based on the testimony of one of those underage fans who also felt the best way to interact with LO (and garantee would get her attention) was being sexual. it doesn't matter that LO didn't ask them particularly to be sexual, it matters that she did nothing to stop them, that she made them feel like that was the best way to interact with her. in the case of ginger, it matters that not only she never stop it, she also actively encouraged her by indulging her on it and still rewarded ginger with becoming "a friend" only a few years later. there's a word for when an adult does that with a minor. it starts with g. i'm sure you know which one it is.

Hi me again (: Oooh big emotions, good or bad? Also if you had to rank the top (Ralph, Jack, Piggy, Simon, Roger) loft characters from least gayest to most gayest, what would your ranking be? Thanks (:
-🧊
OOH YES! this is hard because they’re all so queer in my head. most of this is purely opinion and is very bias. ALSO by sexuality i don’t mean who they have sex with. they’re kids. i just mean their identities in the queer community.
#1 is simon. he’s described as very strange, gentle, more motherly than the others, etc. this may be playing into stereotypes, but it is a very old book. in the time it was written (between 1937 and 1949), queer was used as weird OR as a slur for gay/feminine men (oh anon, i did my research: here). simon is referred to as queer by the other boys, possibly because yeah, he’s weird, but also possibly because he’s….you know…. (also im a huge simon kinnie so he gets first). simon doesn’t seem to fit in with the other boys, maybe because he’s different as far as sexuality goes.
#2 is jack. he gives me aggressive mlm transmasc vibes (mostly w modern au in my head but still). also, his interactions with ralph (the fact that his confident demeanor is quickly turned embarrassed at any mistake or weakness that ralph sees, etc.). plus, straight boys don’t brag about being the leader of a choir (pls this is a stereotype and a joke don’t come for me-) my personal reasons for headcanoning him as trans (again, not like i really think he’s trans in the book, but this is what i use to support my logic): c sharp is not an impressive note for a 12 year old boy unless he means like a really high c sharp, meaning a much higher voice, possibly meaning he could be AFAB and have a higher natural range. also, his need to be seen as a scary strong “masculine” hunter is painfully obvious.
#3 is piggy. his obsession with ralph is a little fruity. plus, he just gives me strong gay vibes. trust me
#4 is ralph. his inability to hate jack and to think jack could ever actually hurt him is clearly based in love (be it platonic or romantic). the way he disassociates the “savage” version of jack from the “real” version of jack in his mind is a way to convince himself that jack does care and could never be like he is
#5 is roger, simply because we don’t have much book evidence other than “emo choir kid who likes to hurt people”. i adore roger but most of my interpretations and headcanons are based on the personality the fandom has given him over the years.
i adored this ask! love you anon <3

Hi there! I really enjoy reading your analysis. I noticed something interesting that I wanted to share wih you. I don't know if this may seem obvious, but I think it's worth mentioning Dali's interests. This contains Spoilers!
To give a quick overview, it was presented that Dali was the first one to arrive (and to leave) Sonoyama's house
When Dali arrived at his new house, he was amazed by the astronomical-themed room. However, the Sonoyamas thought that Dali didn't like it because of his reaction. But Dali tells them that he actually liked it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In the last episode, we can see Dali reading an algebra book in the anime (or a geometry book in the manga), while Migi does cubist art. They have found their passion. However, Migi didn't discover his passion for art because of the Sonoyamas; it's something natural for him, I think. On the other hand, the Sonoyamas brought Dali closer to the things that fascinate him in the present (math-science) indirectly.
This doesn't entirely support my theory; my theory is that Dali left to study to become a mathematician, engineer, astrophysicist, etc. (Nami-sensei didn't clarify it).
My first language isn't English, sorry for the wording. Pd: I also found out that the titles of chapters 1 and '13' are both "Migi and Dalí," and they were 13 years old back then lol
Hi, and thanks for reading my stuff!
Yes, I have thought about Dali's interests for quite a while, and I'm glad you pointed this out. I agree that he certainly has interests in math and science, and thank you for showing the picture of the bookshelf. I actually hadn't noticed the science books until I saw this, and I'm sure he was definitely reading those in his free time!
This, plus the fact that Dali does very well in math and science at school, plus his logical and experimental way of thinking (like his plans in Episode 6) does seem to confirm an innate passion for science that the Sonoyamas have helped awakened both through their books and their Christmas present to him. I think it was similar for Migi too, because before all he did was make silly doodles and drawings, and I think that after he received his Christmas present his art began to evolve.
I also agree with you that it isn't clear what Dali wants to do in the future, though to be fair he is still quite young and is only going to prep school, so he certainly has plenty of time to think about it. There's also not much evidence to support a specific theory (as far as I know). He could be studying math, physics, engineering, medicine, etc. Heck, he could become an expert in multiple areas! Anyway, I'm sure Sano-sensei wanted to leave this to our own imagination. :)
Regarding Dali's interaction with the Sonoyamas when he sees his room for the first time, I think he could have been faking his reaction (including the star comment) in order to leave a good impression on them, though I'm sure on some level he was glad that he was finally no longer at the orphanage. It is possible that he was being completely honest, though given Dali's habit of dishonesty, I don't think it's likely. Perhaps there's some meaning to this, I don't know...
It's also interesting that you bring up the fact that both Episodes 1 and 13 are titled "Migi and Dali". Personally, I don't agree with the anime staff's decision to do this, and I think that the first episode should have been titled "Hitori" or something like that, not only to have a unique episode title but also to provide a comparison between the first and last episodes when the twins are HItori versus they are finally themselves.
Anyway, thanks for your comments, it certainly gave me something to think about!

The Reflection of a Prince Ch 3
Tumblr media
I’m really bad at making summaries, but in a nutshell, this is an Overblot! Jade Leech fic, with the Original Characters belonging to Royal Sword Academy, specifically for a fandom based on the Little Mermaid. • A gala approaches, on not one land, but two, and split in half, what other choice does a Prince have to do? But beware in the past, there is an eye that still watches. Who remembers, who plots and hides teeth in the darkness.

Chapter 1 - Chapter 2
Ch 3 in Read More
Azul was flipping through finance files, about 7 in the morning according to his watch. It was the best time in the week to put together the documents for each days’ sales and costs, along with calculating the salary for employees for the biweekly basis. It was unusually quiet, although it didn’t bother him at the moment. It was still somewhat early, and the silence made it easier to focus.
It was only logical such silence should be rudely interrupted by annoying text vibrations on the wood desk.
“Hey do you like. Have the attendance sheets for the Board Game Club on hand rn.”
Right side top drawer, folder at the very front. Divider is by year…there it was.
“Yes I have them in the Lounge. Is Crowley asking for them already?”
“Kinda I mean. Yeah. He didn’t do this shit last year, says it’s bc of the festival thingy. BS tbh.”
“Do you want me to run them over in the next few minutes?”
“It doesn’t have to be like right now now, but around 7:30-7:45ish would be coolio, plus I’ll be actually awake at that point lol.”
Set the papers aside, set phone timer for 7:30. He’d likely just ask Jade or one of the third years to carry those over. The logistics of having the main keys for the lounge and having to cross campus not long before opening the back entryways for early shifts just seemed too annoying.
“Ok, someone will come by 7:40 at the latest.”
“Man I thought you’d do it ;-; you always send your Vice to do it and ngl he scares the shit outta me dude”
“That doesn’t sound like my issue, Idia.”
“I mean I’ll gladly accept paperwork from anyone in your dorm who isn’t in the top 3 tiers of the ‘Would Murder Me’ list. Like seriously there’s gotta be someone dude.”
“Any of them would likely lose the papers or be late. It’s not my issue he has an intimidating air carrying out benign errands.”
It was about 7:15.
“Bro tf you mean ‘intimidating air’ that implies it’s like. Accidental, and not him creating the comforting aura of a slasher villain. Idk how you survive interacting with him for most of the day. If I got locked in a room with either Leech for like 30 minutes I’d probably kms to get out faster.”
“I’m sure he’d find that quite humorous to hear. Anyways, it's not my problem, and I have things to do so I’m going to go silent for a while.”
“Alr whatever you’re like 100% serial killer victim number one tho.”
He put down the phone on the desk, mentally rolling his eyes.
It wasn’t the first time he’d heard a qualm like this about Jade, especially not from Idia. It was strange to keep hearing, probably because he just couldn’t see what it was everyone was so…afraid of. In a competitive setting, it was logical for even him to be wary of Jade as a long-game player and as someone very good at concealing his hand. But in terms of just normal school life, it just didn’t make sense. At the worst, Jade liked to poke psychologically in the same way Floyd did physically. Instead of chasing and manhandling, it was done with subtle body language and straight faced teasing. Once you wrapped your mind around how the game worked, it was actually quite fun to play in return, although for a completely anti-social loner like Idia, it didn’t seem like much fun.
He may have come across as strange or snakelike, but Azul had a level of trust in him that provided a sense of ease. At the very least, if Jade had wanted him dead, it would have happened already. He made him tea or coffee every morning, and Azul couldn’t think of the last time he’d even had a second thought at drinking what was placed on his desk.
Speaking of which. He hadn’t drank anything all morning, and the lack of hydration was beginning to make his early morning energy wear off. Usually they were both up around the same time.
He left the VIP lounge, heading back towards the shared communal space, including the small kitchen the dormitory shared. The tea bags he used were typically in one of the top shelves of the cabinet farthest from the shared fridge. He put some water in a pan and turned on the stove, sitting the bag’s string over the side. There was a kettle in the shared area, but it was nowhere to be seen, so he’d have to make do.
The tea that he had made wasn’t perfect, but it was fine enough. Octanivelle students set for the early shifts had started to trickle in, and Floyd stumbled in behind them. A bit earlier than he normally woke up, but well within his range.
“Hey Floyd. It’s odd having you be the first one up.”
Floyd slid over, propping against the island. He still looked a bit tired.
“Huh? Jade left our room like. A few hours ago. At least, I think so. Idk, I was half-asleep.”
“A few hours ago? I haven’t run into him all morning. I was going to ask him to run some papers over to Ignihyde.”
“I could run them over lol-“
“It’s fine, you can handle opening, I’ll just run them myself. Was he running off to do the headcounts he mentioned yesterday?”
“Idk, probably? He sometimes dips out in the middle of the night to do something-or-another, I figure it’s just that.”
“…I wasn’t aware he did that. I doubt anyone at RSA is awake enough for him to get any reasonable survey numbers at this hour.”
“Eh, who knows. I’m not worrying about it personally. Probably went off early to maybe hike over there instead of taking the bus. I could see him doing something like that.”
“Oh, ok. If you're not worried-“
“By the way, when are you supposed to be taking the papers over?”
“Um,” Azul checked his watch again. It was 7:39 already, and the walk across campus would probably take some 7 minutes. Shit.
“I should probably go now; I’m already behind schedule.”
“Alrighty then, have fun. I need the key ring though to open.”
“Right, right.” He took the Lounge key ring off of his belt loop, and took the trenchcoat off his shoulders and dug through the pockets for the VIP lounge key. There. When he took his hand out though, he had two keys.
He couldn’t remember which key this was, and with how often he absentmindedly put them in various pockets, it was any guess when he’d put it there. He handed off the known key to Floyd, and put the second one back.
With that, he returned to the office space, collecting the papers, and then headed towards the mirror for the main campus.
For Azul’s taste, it was an eerily lonely morning.
• • •
“I’m good to meet up whenever you are.”
It was almost 5 in the afternoon, and students were flowing to and from Coralliadom, mostly to leave campus to get dinner or head towards the cafeteria. Rielle hovered over the message, and panned his gaze over to his Housewardens’ staff. He went over and took it up, gripping 3 fingers around the magestone and prying it out. He put the stone in his right interior pocket.
“Aight. I’ll head out that way. Should I turn my GPS on to make it easier or smthn?”
“Sure.”
He flicked it on, and began to make his way out of the dormitory. He left the staff in his room to not raise any sort of suspicion, but held onto his pen. He managed to slip Claude’s visage in this escape attempt, sliding through the mirror and booking it across campus towards the gate. It was actually quite invigorating, sneaking off like this. See, I told you I could take care of myself! The gate was open, and Rielle slipped in with the crowd of leaving students, removing the outer RSA jacket and bundling it under his arm. Just before the bus stop, he broke off, awkwardly trotting down the incline and breaking off into the tree cover surrounding the campus.
He had to walk for a while before eventually running into the Octanivelle kid, about 3 minutes. Curly brunette hair almost covered their eyes completely, and their poise seemed too calm for how they talked over text.
Whatever, people were usually more casual over text anyways, right? Not like he had another option at this point anyways.
“Heyo-! I made it, sorry if I was a bit late.”
“It’s fine, I made sure to set time aside so I’d be good if you were. Do you have the stuff I asked for?”
“Yeah, yeah, I got it right here.”
Rielle took a small jewelry box out of his pocket, one that you’d normally keep earrings in. He handed it over to the student, who opened it, eyes glazing over the inside.
“Spit vial thing, hair is in a vial, the clippings are just in the box bc I figured that was fine, and the empty vial is the…song? Idk if you just wanted me to sing into a vial, so that’s what I did, sorry if that wasn’t what you wanted.”
“Oh that’s fine.” He closed the box lid, and put it in the pocket of his dorm uniform, which went almost below his knees.
“Are you guys’ uniforms that long? Based on the photos, I always thought they hit like, mid-thigh at the longest.”
“Oh, this isn’t my uniform.” The kid took out a small glass dish, and sat it over a bundle of tinder he’d piled on the ground. “I spilled some shit on mine earlier this week, so I had to borrow my roommates. He’s like, a good foot taller than me, haha.”
His voice seemed a little…stiff, despite how casual his words were. The student looked up towards Rielle, expression a bit nervous.
“Uh, did you bring a water bottle or something by chance? I would’ve brought one myself for the potion but I didn’t think about it. I mean, I can just use a water spell I guess, but I haven’t eaten a lot today and my magic’s probably a little shaky because of it.”
“Oh, no worries, I’ll do it. Did you skip lunch or something?” Rielle clicked his magestone into his pen, and with a small flick formed about two cups’ worth of water inside the dish.
“Thanks, and no, I didn’t bring much money when I made my way over here so I couldn’t grab anything substantial in Craneport.”
“Oh. Well, you’ll need my ID to get into the dorm anyways, so don’t worry about using it to get meal swipes. Claude will hound you-me if he sees you being the slightest bit winded. Wait-“
Rielle took out his phone, and began texting rapidly. The students’ phone pinged several times back to back.
“Ok I sent you the itinerary for the day of, so that you’ll be ready for that, and also the sheet music for the musical performance on Friday.”
“Musical…performance?”
“Yeah, I am/was doing a pretty singing number for the gala thingy- but you’re taking on my singing voice anyways so you’ll be good. There’s 5 days anyway to get the hang of it, and you won’t be on stage alone!”
“O-oh. Ok.”
The student began to dump the contents into the water, and lit a small fire on the tinder beneath the dish with his pen.
“I could’ve done that, yknow.”
“Oh, sorry. Just didn’t think about it.”
“Lol, you don’t have to say sorry. Just don’t want you to overexert yourself.”
The kid took a small twig nearby to stir the mixture, using his other hand to control the flame, it spinning to a light blue color. He was murmuring something under his breath, but Rielle couldn’t make out whatever incantation he was saying. Maybe saying it really quietly was a part of it?
In a moment, the small whirlpool in the mixture tinted to a bright red, and spread out within the dish. A small smile briefly appeared on the kid’s face, and he put the twig to the side, taking a small necklace out of his pocket.
“Oh, that’s the jewelry item?”
“Yeah. I’m using this one specifically because I’ve been able to get it to work with other magic properties like this already. No worries for me about it not working.”
“It’s so…cute. Is it an actual nautilus shell? It looks a bit more worn and dirty than the ones you see in shops. And it’s so tiny!”
“Yeah, it’s an actual shell, a friend of mine picked it out for me, we were pretty little at the time. So that’s why it’s kinda small.”
“So I’m guessing the string on it is more recent so it fits your neck? Lol.”
“Yeah, I’ve changed the string a million times at this point, hah.”
Again. That slightly strained voice, enough to notice but not noticeable enough for Rielle to want to bring attention to it.
The Octanivelle student took the twig he’d sat down, and stuck it firmly in the ground. Taking the necklace’s string and catching it on the twig, he dipped the shell down into the potion, where it began to glow a pale white within the liquid.
“Ah, yeah. The contract scroll. I almost forgot about it.”
He took a golden paper out of his pocket, along with a slightly decorative pen. It was folded several times into a little square, and once unfolded the top portion was too crinkled to properly read. But most of it was legible, and listed everything they’d spoken about over text, word for word. Rielle panned over the language, checking for any small print. He may have had no other choice, but he’d barter if he needed to.
“The only small text on there is about you being liable if the Unique Magic offered in the contract expires before you return to trade places with me again.”
“And that time would be…”
“Friday, about 11pm. An hour and a half after the gala hosted in your dorm will have ended. I just don’t want to be stuck up there. Do you want the pen? I thought you’d take it already-“
“How did you do this? This is a Unique Magic in and of itself, dude! Did you actually get your Housewarden to write one up for you? Like an IOU or something?”
“…can’t say. Secrets of the trade, lol. I don’t wanna lose my chances of getting deals like this in the future, you know?”
The student smiled, but the emotion didn’t quite reach the shine in his eyes. As if they carried two different people. I suppose that was Octanivelle for you. Rielle took up the pen, and carefully signed his name, drawing a smile heart above the i.
He absentmindedly handed the paper and pen back over, and dropped his RSA jacket onto the ground. The guy would probably need it if he wanted to slip back onto campus.
“There you go. I should probably text my parents about now and head off towards the hall of mirrors. Pretty much no one’s walking around campus right now, although you might wanna wait a few minutes before going into campus.”
“Alright, I have to wait for this to finish up anyways. Hope you have fun at the family gathering.”
“Yeah, I will! Thanks for doing me a solid, man.”
“Don’t even worry about it.”
Rielle finally got up from a squat on the ground, turning and heading back towards the campus.
He couldn’t have left soon enough. The illusory potion put together that morning was only meant to last about an hour. Even now, teal was beginning to push through the brunette hair, which was now falling to the ground at an alarming rate. He hadn’t even bothered to notice the contacts that already matched his eye color, or how squatting down disguised his clothing slowly fitting more snugly. The potion let off a sweet-smelling steam. It was done.
Taking the string off from around the twig, the necklace was pulled from the solution, and now it had a beautiful yellow gleam. He took off the Mostro Lounge jacket, covering a simple white dress shirt like those worn in RSA. The jacket and hat was placed into a pile along with the glass dish, and with a gentle wave of his pen, the pile burst into a large flame.
The necklace’s string fit perfectly to his head, and the nautilus shell was tucked beneath the shirt collar. He imagined how it looked outside of himself. Thin, siren eyes becoming like that of a doe, merging in and out as if both were mirages. A pale glow flowing down the edge of his hair, it growing vibrant red, and growing longer as the glow went down, beyond his hair’s end. The shell felt as though it could replace his own heart with how warm it felt against his chest.
Finally, he opened his mouth, feeling up and down the foreign vocal chords. The sweet, silky sound that left his mouth. That voice which was far too beautiful to belong to him.
