New fic based on this just dropped:

Episode 7 where it feels like Vaggie’s worst nightmares came true. That Charlie knows she’s an exorcist and hates her for it.

Beyond the love they share, we also see in episode 3 how Vaggie unhealthily derives purpose from Charlie. Which makes sense when you consider Charlie was likely the one to take her in an show her kindness, to show her that she still has value after everything. The development of their relationship likely came as Vaggie was picking up the pieces of her life, so they’ve become concerningly entertwined.

Vaggie, having all of that stuff brought up again, having everything she’s built for herself crashing down. The hotel won’t work. Exorcists are coming. Charlie isnt talking to her. The other residents know she’s an exorcist too.

Then it gets worse. Charlie makes a deal.

And that’s arguably the worst possible thing that could happen, because she has an idea of what Alastor does and it’s Charlie. And from Vaggie’s perspective Charlie never should be hurt.

Then her world shifts again when it’s revealed exorcists can be killed.

The amount of self loathing and failure she must feel. Nothing she’s done has worked. Everything she’s worked for fell apart. Angel’s can die for fucks sake and she didn’t even know despite BEING AN ANGEL.

Then what happens? She tells everyone else to save themselves. She goes to Carmilla Carmine, the only known killer of exorcists. Alone.

I want her arc to be her learning to love herself. We know she loves others and finds purpose in missions, but she needs to see that she’s worth it outside of that. With established Chaggie, the ship Im really hoping to develop is Vaggie and self love.

Just rewatched some Zootopia clips and… is Jax just the love child of Judy and Nick? A taller than usual bunny with immense amounts of sarcasm that gets through life by causing problems?

Granted, Jax is more sadistic than Nick but I keep seeing scenes with Nick and now I’m wondering if that’s more how he acted at the beginning of his time in the circus and it devolved from there?

Jax is simultaneously the stereotypes of the bratty youngest child and the forgotten middle child who doesn’t get enough attention

Going through the character wikis with information shared by Gooseworx, here’s the order of which TADC characters presumably arrived at the circus:

1) Kinger, said to be here the longest (48 years old)

2) Ragatha, confirmed to be there the second longest (30 y/o)

3) Jax (22)

4) Gangle, as it’s been confirmed Jax is the one who named her, she likely had to have come after him (26)

5) Zooble, confirmed to have been there the shortest other than Pomni (22.5)

6) Pomni (25)

I feel like this order also explains so much about their vibes. Kinger is the kooky older uncle, Ragatha is the caring older sister, Jax is the middle child (which… yep), Gangle is one of the little siblings (despite physically being older than Jax), and Zooble is someone who’s been in the family for like five minutes but is already exhausted.

Seriously though!

Like with the hiatus it’s easy to make narratives about them where they’re less assholes or do it maybe for a reason, but you can’t really be surprised when the show starts back up and they’re still dicks. Maybe we’ll see development over time (but even if so can we not completely disregard a character treating others badly, series where a character’s actions are COMPLETELY disregarded are a whole separate thing) but you can’t be surprised when a single day has passed in show time and they’re still acting similar.

Fans when they realize that both Alastor and Jax are ACTUALLY jerks in canon:

(Please don't come at me- it's only a lighthearted joke. I know not all fans of them feel that way, I love them both just the way they are! I also find the whole situation kinda funny.)

Dude I had like a super sadistic HuskerDust dream last night and the vague idea was that after another conflict with Heaven, Husk and Angel suffer a mutual loss (it was unclear in the dream what the loss was but based on context clues I’m guessing it was a demon child that they took in) but neither were around to witness it, but Charlie was and she unintentionally breaks the news to Angel at like the worst possible time.

She doesn’t realize Husk was right outside the door, but when Husk makes his presence known, he and Angel exchange mutually devastated expressions and Charlie takes that as a sign to leave them alone, and once she leaves Husk rushes to hug Angel who just falls apart and is hysterically crying into Husk’s shoulder, and Husk is just holding onto Angel and trying not to breakdown too.

The rest of the dream gets a bit more vague after that, I think like Husk and Angel are just stuck in the depression stage at the hotel, I think Charlie tries and fails to think of ways to make them feel better but she ends up breaking down too because she doesn’t know how to help her friends through such a devastating loss.

The last thing I remember was that at least Lucifer convinced Husk and Angel to leave their rooms and I think he made them pancakes??? I think they at least ate them, but before I could see if this helped, my alarm clock rudely woke me up.

So my point is, this is how deep the HuskerDust brain rot has gotten for me, it is now feeding me angsty dream about them 😅.

Your brain really does like torturing you even when asleep, huh? You can’t escape the Huskerdust angst no matter how hard you try. The sounds sad, and also dad! Lucifer coming in clutch 😂

I’m scared to know who it was they lost. I know it’s your dream so it’s probably pretty vague but a mutual friend? A kid they’ve taken on? Niffty?

What if all the TADC characters are advanced NPCs or learning AIs, and the circus is simply a training program? What if they have to go into other games and do activities to gain experience and feedback? The reason Caine didn’t want Gummigoo in the circus is because he’s already juggling a lot of code with the main cast, and adding another in complicated things or could corrupt something?

Kaufmo had written all about there being no exit. And what if the reason behind that is simply because there ISNT. They can’t live outside the dimension they’re made in. And abstraction is code simply breaking down with this realization. There is no exit. And Caine KNOWS this. But them chasing for one and thinking they’re from the physical plane is integral to their role so he keeps it up.

The reason they don’t know their old name or have memories is because they don’t have any prior to this. The characters look so wildly different because they’re for different kinds of games.

And the story isn’t these characters learning to escape the digital prison, but learning the truth and making a life there.

I’m not in a particular boat of if Jax is an NPC or not in canon but can you imagine?

It’s a Hunter Grimwalker or Sentimonster Adrien situation where he doesn’t know. Gummigoo didn’t. Or maybe Caine made him with that particular idea in mind- for him to think he is a player like everyone else.

Jax is 10000% the kind of person to be a dick to NPCs for fun, and if we’re going with the idea that part of why he acts like this is because he knows it’s all a game so there are virtually no consequences, he’d probably hold himself to a higher regard than the NPCs. Because he thinks he’s real and they’re not.

Then he finds out. Maybe a Gummigoo situation where he meets his model. Maybe they find a way to leave and Caine either tells him he can’t or they find out the hard way. Maybe something happens with code and he starts glitching. Maybe he gets reset. Maybe Caine accidentally snaps him away and then has to bring him back. Maybe Kinger knows and accidentally drops the bomb. Maybe Bubble does (and Caine gets PISSED.)

Just… maybe.

That would be like the ULTIMATE perspective shift. Especially since I wouldn’t be surprised if Jax ends up giving Pomni grief over Gummigoo, making fun of her for thinking of him as “real.”

Thinking about TADC characters in this continuum.

On one end we have those acting like there are basically no consequences. It’s a video game after all. And if they do leave then there is no impact on what they did- so they can commit war crimes or whatever. And on the other hand if they CANT leave everyone eventually abstracts anyways.

Jax is on the FAR extreme in this side. He treats this very much like some video game players or with the view that since what he does won’t change anything why try. It isn’t REAL to him.

Zooble is closer in this category to a lesser extent because of their more “fuck y’all” attitude. Although nowhere near the level of Jax. For them though there is no point in participating in the games though because it won’t change the fact they’re stuck there. But they do show to care about the others, setting up Kaufmo’s funeral while the others are away. I think their attitude may be more “fuck the game not the people.”

Then on the other end we have the perspective that this is their life as of now, so might as well work with it. Here, it’s working with the system and getting immersed with the game/players. If they DO have to spend forever here, they should make sure their stay is relatively pleasant.

Here, Ragatha is on the far extreme. The kind way she treats the others, the way she really gets worried about Pomni being mad at her. The way she waves to the NPCs when arriving in Candy Kingdom and greets the princess.

Gangle is also here, because she is shown to care about others. She worries when Zooble gets taken, and cares enough about Ragatha’s opinion of her for Jax’s blackmail to work.

Kinger is over with Gangle too, because from what we have seen of him he does care about the others. Any we see him try to comfort Ragatha in episode 2.

With Pomni, I think we might see her progression throughout the scale. At the beginning she believes it’s a dream, and this belief she can escape causes her to worry less about the consequences in the world. Then with the end of episode 2, she’s likely going to float around in the left end for a bit, before slowly making her way to the right. Because if you can’t change the situation, you can change your perspective.
