Yay so I finished my embroidery piece of Aziraphale in the illuminated letter of Good Omens book! ✨
Thank you all for all the love in my previous WIP post of this project 💜 you really gave me the push that I needed to get it done.
This fandom is so special, thank you from the bottom of my heart for making me feel like my art matters, however small it is 🖤✨ (a 7cm hoop, to be precise :3 )
I hope this may inspire you to get a project started that has been simmering on the back of your mind! or that at least it makes you smile today :)
Some more photos under the cut:
(and don't worry, Crowley is coming soon 🙃)

My nephews wanted illuminated letters for their doors and I finally finished them — a J, an M, and another J. We’ve got a sword for the D&D player/video gamer, a chicken on a football goal (that’s Defender, a cross-billed “house chicken” who died of old age last fall and broke M’s heart), and a dragon in blue for the one who likes dragons and blue.
They’re done with Ziller soot black ink, Kuretake watercolour and Finetec metallic watercolour on Bristol paper, using a combo of pointed pen and brushes. I mounted them on the boards and then ran into a dilemma.
I had bought some two-part epoxy on a whim, and thought I’d use that to coat them, but when I looked up “how to use two-part epoxy,” after all the instructions and many, many YouTube pour videos (none of which featured any PPE at all) I found a truly eye-opening number of safety concerns and precautions, none of which I could follow in my open-plan work area next to my kitchen!
(At first I was going to go for it anyway. “I smoked for two decades, how bad could it be?” Then I remembered my roommate has asthma and I’d probably kill them in moments.)
So I used Tri-Art Liquid Glass instead. I think it turned out all right.

"You can't get forgiveness from God without forgiving others."
You know, that sucks! Some of those others have been very rude to me.
I don't know how to illustrate Jesus' instructions on prayer and fasting. so, thank you patterncooler.com

Kathryn Finter is a Canadian artist whose fifteenth-century materials and techniques of panel painting and manuscript illumination have inspired me. I learned a great deal while researching her illuminated letter art. I then decided to make my stepdad a Celtic Irish Quinn family name design.

A postcard from the late 1980s, not sure where I picked it up as it was printed in the UK. "G is for Griffin", from a set of illuminated alphabet. I was on a phone call and had enough time to break out the gel pens and color in the griffin with a lot of sparkly gray and silver. I kind of want to add color to the background, but am not sure what, since it has to be on the pale side to counter all that black and gray. Anyway, very happy with how it turned out for just something fun to do while on the phone.
I'll have to send this one in an envelope so it doesn't get damaged.
