To those enslaved by the fibre arts:
Tirazain is a digital archive of Palestinian weaving and patterns (or tatreez, التطريز, embroidery) for free use. At this time when there's so much death and loss happening in Gaza and beyond, it gladdened me to find people storing the intangible and cultural so that it might survive.
I plan on employing some of these patterns myself, if nothing else then to help me remember what's happened when the news cycle inevitably spins to some other new horror.

Remember how I made the big framing in buddie conversations meta and then another one when the gym stills came out that comes down to how conversations about Buck, Buck is sitting down.
About Eddie, both of them are sitting down.
About Chris, they are sitting on the same surface
But when they are on the same level and standing up, the conversation tends to be about their relationship with each other.
I know it looks pretty obvious that this is them talking about their relationship, but following patterns on the show, this is them talking about their relationship.
And I'm also interested in what camera angles we are going to get on this scene, because the tsunami for instance they are facing each other but they make a point that for parts of the scene we can see both of their faces, not just them speaking and reacting to each other like in the grocery store for example. I am so curious.

I don't understand how lace is made, but looking at the bobbins and pins and patterns … listen buddy I know math when I see it. This is A Math Thing. Obviously.
Right away I want to know:
Can I encode information in lace?
How much of an expert must one be to make your own patterns?
What about the creation of surfaces?
Knitting is more accessible, and people have been exploring math with knitting forever.
But what possibilities does lace offer?
What is the theory of lace?
An excerpt from Mathematics Magazine
Vol. 91, No. 4 (October 2018), pp. 307-309
Shows I'm hardly the first person to muse about this. Need to get my hands on the rest of this article, obviously.
