I cannot shake my thoughts about this and I’ll know I’ll keep this drama close to my heart. The fact that Myung ha’s ‘sunbae’ opened the riff to the world with the question “would you change it for me?” Also the fact that Myung ha’s alternate universe/game world started with the sound of an ocean tells already a lot about it but we won’t know until Episode 8 why. Throughout the series we watched Myung ha doing everything in his power to make Yeo woon happy while he himself couldn’t rely, couldn’t trust, couldn’t open himself up to him. We know the phrase of his ex gf “you don’t know how to love anyone.” left a deep scar in his soul which he carried with to the alternate universe/game. I try to think the system errors which occurred during the game was a way to change Myung ha’s mindset to not make the same mistakes and/or go on with his habitual habits he did in his life before he drowned himself. Also the different tasks was it actually for Myung ha to realize that he’s the one who makes Yeo-woon happy (which he didn’t). He retreated himself from Yeo woon because he couldn’t choose between the most important persons in his life as we saw his grandma died in real life which makes me think if he also knew that because in one sequence in the game/au it asked him if he wants to bring back some memories of Myung ha’s life. Also the last I love you from Yeo woon was the cherry on top to let the system completely crash where he distanced himself from Yeo woon. “I want to spend my remaining time making Yeo woon happy as best as I can. But it seems the more I try, the more unhappy I make Yeo-woon.” Which Myung ha remembers what Yeo-woon said: “whenever I see you, I both feel good and want to cry. I feel so much about every little thing. But I’m not happy at all right now.” Which again I try to think it is about why Myung ha doesn’t rely more on him? Why he doesn’t open himself up to him? A relationship is based off of trust, give and take… etc. but Myung ha goes into this relationship with deep rooted traumas which causes lack of self love. If one loves not itself enough how can they expect to love someone else which what explains Myung ha’s last phrase in the same scene so much. “Why did I think I could make you happy?” It’s as if he doesn’t think that a loner like him could be the one to give him love and happiness. What follows after is that he choses Yeo woon’s happiness even if he’s not his happiness… which again brings me to the beginning where Myung ha thinks “but I prefer lonely supporting characters to happy protagonists.” In this case he’s the lonely supporting character to our happy protagonist Yeo-woon. “But being fated to live that kind of life… is just so unfair.” He knew/knows how cruel life can be so he chose his happiness over everything and got vanished from the game. He realized by now that Yeo-woon is/was more important than he wanted to admit. Yeo-woon is/was a glimpse of happiness in Myung ha’s life. What brings us to the tragic backstory of his life and how he lived. All the obstacles he endured and went through led to his drowning (at this point we saw Yeo-woon’s obstacles in the alternate universe/game at least in my opinion). This is the turning point for Myung ha. “I was hoping if you saw yourself from someone else’s perspective, you would learnt to love yourself. I thought if you learned to love someone, you would be a little happier.” I want to make a reference here to the title itself “Love for Love’s sake” because all the sacrifices he did and cared more for others than himself… but he found happiness. In Yeo-woon. And he chose his own happiness for once. It’s the way he chooses all these things for himself, to open himself up for him, to rely and be cared for. “It would be nice to have someone. Someone who cares by my side. Someone who gives me chances when I fail and feel hopeless. It would be nice to have someone who always gives me love.” Which they found both in each other.

Interview with Jacob Anderson, Sam Reid and Bailey Bass of “Interview with The Vampire” on AMC and AMC+ by Suzanne 9/29/22
This was a fun roundtable with the three stars of this great new vampire show. If you love vampire shows, or the Anne Rice novels, you should love this show. It’s very well done, and these actors are great in it. Jacob plays Louie, and we see the story through his eyes as told to ailing reporter Daniel Molloy (Eric Bogosian, who’s outstanding as always). Sam Reid plays LeStat, the seductive vamp that turns Louie and becomes his friend, lover, mentor, etc. Bailey plays Claudia, the young woman that joins them. They were very kind and fun to interview.
Suzanne:   Hi, I’m Suzanne Lanoue from TVMEG.com, and I’ve watched the first episode. I didn’t get screeners till this morning, so I only got to watch the first one so far, but I’m really enjoying it. It just grabs you and drags you in. So, congratulations on being renewed for season two already, which is great. Do you know when you’ll be starting to film season two, or have you already started filming it?
JACOB ANDERSON:   We haven’t started. We haven’t started shooting, no.
SAM REID:   Probably, I don’t know if we can say anything. [Laughs]
Suzanne:   Have they told you yet?
JACOB ANDERSON:   They haven’t not told us anything.
Suzanne:  [Chuckles} OK, well, thank you!
Jamie from SCIFI VISION:  Hi, I’m Jamie Ruby from SciFi Vision. Thanks for talking to us today, I really enjoyed the first five episodes that we’ve seen. So, for the three of you, can you kind of talk about how you balanced what you pulled from the book versus what you added with your own spin on it?
SAM REID:   Hello, Jamie, I’ll answer that. No. But I would say that anything for myself and my character, my own spin probably came from my own interpretation of the books and Rolins’ work. So, I wasn’t really trying to put any of my own spin on it. It’s just how I imagined it to be, really.
JACOB ANDERSON:   Yeah. I second that. It’s like, you will always view a character through your own lens to an extent and then it’s just kind of, I mean, I guess with anything, it’s like, do other do the other creative people like that, and do they want to discuss it? But you don’t want to mess with this. Like the combination of Anne Rice’s writing and Rolins’ writing, you don’t really want to touch it, you don’t want to just sort of throw your own stuff in just for the sake of it.
SAM REID:   They’re so dense already the characters that it sort of would be a shame to try and deviate too much of thing.
JACOB ANDERSON:   What could you possibly add?
SAM REID:   Yeah.
BAILEY BASS:   I feel the exact same way. It’s really, yes, we were cast because there’s something special in us that Rolin and the entire team really enjoyed when we were doing our auditions. But other than that, it’s really just doing the research and the book, reading the scripts, doing our own technique, and then just coming and creating in this world.
Jamie:  Okay, great. Thank you so much.
Jamie from STARRY MAG:  This is Jamie Steinberg, with Starry Constellation Magazine. Jacob, this is another deeply tortured soul for you to portray. Is there something about these kinds of characters that really draw you to them? Or is this them finding their way to you? Or is it something you see in them that really resonates with you and makes you want to portray them?
JACOB ANDERSON:   I think it’s a combination of both. We find each other. I think I’m slightly less like Grey Worm than I am like Louis. But yeah, I mean, I think you normally want to be like very boundaried when you talk about things and be like, “Oh, well, I’m so removed from the character, and I’m brilliant at acting and blah blah blah blah blah”. But to be honest, yeah, I feel very, very connected to Louis. It’s the thing that bothered me about how Anne Rice wrote him, and also how Rolin wrote him as well. Yeah, I’m drawn to characters who are searching. And I’d ask him questions, not just about the world, but about their place in it and what they contribute or don’t contribute to it. But yeah, I also I felt like it would be like, narcissistic of me to be like, “I am the only person who can play Louis.” But namely, because there is somebody else that’s done it, as well. Many people.
Jamie:  Well, I think you brings such a unique take on it, though, because of the artistry you have. Both of these characters that you mentioned, have just been wonderfully nuanced, I think through your portrayal. So it might be just a little bit time for you to pat yourself on the back for what you’ve brought to the role on your own.
JACOB ANDERSON:   This one’s for you, Bailey.
QUESTION:   Question for Jacob and Sam, one of the really interesting things about this particular adaptation is the romance that we kind of finally get to see between Louis and Lestat. Can you speak to that a little bit? What does it mean to you to be able to portray that relationship in that way?
SAM REID:   Well, I think AMC has the rights to the entire Vampire Chronicles, and so it’s very important to make sure that relationship is established early on. Particularly as the books progress, it becomes much more clear that they are in a very intense romantic relationship. So, I think it’s it’s great to make sure that we’re serving the story correctly. And it wouldn’t be Anne Rice’s Interview With The Vampire if it wasn’t there. So, yeah.
QUESTION:   I was wondering, and this is kind of specifically for Bailey and Sam, the show doesn’t shy away from race or that being a factor at all for their very long life experience. Was that important to you? And were you afraid of any ignorant backlash, because previously, the characters were paid by white actors?
BAILEY BASS:   I was really excited to play Claudia. It’s really a dream to play such a complex character that’s very loud and unapologetic. I honestly didn’t think twice about anything else. I just knew that Rolin was very intentional about the actors that he wanted to cast in the show, and I’m very fortunate that I was one of them. I just dove into all the research. I read the book. I would cross reference the book and the script and see the quotes that Rolin took from the book and was very intentional about adding them into the script. After doing all the research, I mean, I became Claudia and it was fun to play her.
JACOB ANDERSON:   Yeah, I think something that Rolin’s done, which is – I’m almost loath to call it important, but like it creates a richness is that this isn’t a colorblind casting situation. Louis’ central question is about his humanity and his place in humanity. I think that if you were to cast a black actor or black actors for Louis and Claudia, and to not address that, you’d take a lot away from that question of their humanity. I’m glad that we don’t shy away from it. And in terms of backlash, I just don’t want to give it energy anymore. Like I just – people are going to – I think people need to be seen. Sometimes they’ll say anything to be seen or recognized, and it’s sad, but it’s the internet.
QUESTION:   I would love for you to talk a little bit about what it’s like just being vampires, being able to play vampires when biting people and having these kinds of scenes. What goes into that and how much fun is that to play? How difficult is that to play?
SAM REID:
It’s very fun. It’s very fun. Yeah, you know, because we’ve got a lot of elements that come into every scene. So, they’re very beautiful, sort of rich dialogue-heavy scenes, but we also have this whole element of the vampire, you know, he kills, so we’ll be pausing for the blood to be put in. We had all these different types of blood that we’d been drinking and tasting, and they made us hibicus flavored blood when we had to drink large amounts of it.
JACOB ANDERSON:
It did not taste like hibiscus. It tasted like it was like a Sour Patch Kid.
SAM REID:   Yeah.
JACOB ANDERSON:   But in liquid form.
SAM REID:   But there’s a lot of thought and consideration [that had] gone into this. But yeah, it’s so much fun, really. Vampires are, I think, the best type of monster, because they have so much humanity. They’re so articulate. They experience a huge amount. Anne Rice is responsible for our shift in vampires, because she puts the perspective into the eyes of the monster, and you have empathy for them. So, it’s very fun to do these really extreme, horrific things, but also with a level of understanding and empathy and bringing that into the character. So, it’s a fun thing to do.
JACOB ANDERSON:   It’s the best! It’s the best. The best monsters.
Jamie from SCIFI VISION:  So, obviously, you guys do go to some really dark places, though, with your characters. Can you sort of talk about getting into that headspace, and how you sort of, I guess, get back out of it? Is it hard to sort of go there? For all three of you.
BAILEY BASS:   Yeah, it’s hard. We had such long days that it kind of, for me personally, it was hard for me to differ[entiate], like, who’s Claudia and who’s Bailey. So, I kind of had to, like really sit with myself and reflect, but it’s hard. But then also, this is what I love to do, and playing such an extreme character, that’s what makes it fun is that I get to relive and be in these spaces that I would never normally be in if I didn’t get to play Claudia. But the dark, even though it’s dark and everything, I definitely enjoyed it. And I had Sam and Jacob, which they were incredible scene partners, and we all had each other. We made sure that throughout the whole process, our mental health, even though we’re like hysterically crying sometimes that afterwards, our mental health was still good,
SAM REID:   I think to Bailey’s point, like, sometimes the darkest jobs or the darkest sets where the material is the most bleak are the most fun, because, we instinctively know how to just kind of like, help ourselves through that. So, we’ll be making a lot of jokes. You know, it is ridiculous, sometimes what we’re doing, and you have to step back and think [laughs] You know, we’re suspended in the air, covered in blood, so we just kept it light. It was a fun thing to do.
JACOB ANDERSON:   Yeah, I agree. I mean, it’s dense. It’s dense, so you need to focus on the language as well. Like, aside from, yeah, we had a lot of fun, but when you’re doing the scene, you focus on what you’re doing. And I think if you let yourself get dragged into it too much, then hard to to do your job, I think.
Jamie from STARRY MAG:  Bailey, this is such a beautiful costume you have. Talk about when you first saw what you’d be wearing for the series, and if you had any input, and if it takes really putting on that costume to embody your character.
BAILEY BASS:   Costume is one of my favorite things in my job, being able to speak with the costume designer and be able to talk about what she saw when she read the script, because it’s not just me, it’s a big collaboration of an incredible crew that helps make us look good, basically. And to be able to talk to hair, makeup, and costume and get to know what their first ideas were when they read the script, and then being able to collaborate with them and say what I thought, was really, really fun. And the costume designer for this show, Carol, was just so collaborative. I came in and we were talking about posture. That’s a very big thing for Claudia, because in the beginning, she’s like fourteen years old, and she’s excited being a vampire. She would shrug a lot and just walked like, however and had terrible posture. So, the costume designer would think about that when she was making the costumes. And then also I have to look like a little girl. So, she created these beautiful bows along with making sure that the shape of my costumes hid any curves possible. So, when I put them on, I really felt like a little girl. So, when I was doing the scenes where Claudia is struggling, she wants to be a woman, and I’m sitting in this pink dress that it’s not flattering to anything that’s me as Bailey, it was really easy to feel what Claudia would be feeling at that moment.
Suzanne:   I really enjoyed the wedding scene and your dancing, Jacob; that was great. Was that actually you dancing? And did you have to train for that, or did you already know how, and will there be any more singing or dancing in the show?
JACOB ANDERSON:   That was me and Steven Norfleet, who plays Paul, and we had about a month to train, to practice. I don’t know if you’ve ever done tap dancing, but it’s like learning how to walk again, like how to walk for the first time, like to get your brain to coordinate in that way and to like shift the weight of your body is really confusing. And to add to that we did a lot of our lessons on Sikkim (???). And it’s all like, it’s all sound. You like making music with your feet, but with the lag of, of like, you know, doing it online. But you just drill; you just drill it every day. You drill it every day, and just you have to listen. It’s less about like being mechanical about your body and just like listening to the sound. But there is there is more dancing in the show.
Suzanne:   Oh, good.
JACOB ANDERSON:   Yeah. It was in the trailer, right?
SAM REID:   Yeah, the three of us did dancing lessons.
JACOB ANDERSON:   Yeah, we did.
QUESTION:   I’m curious to just have any of you or all of you talk a little bit about what you love most about the dynamic between all three of your characters, either once Claudia comes in, or kind of as that progresses.
JACOB ANDERSON:   I find it, I think from Louis’ point of view, he’s trying to recreate a kind of family dynamic that he is grieving for in his human life. I think it’s probably the thing that he misses most in some ways. It’s like a grounding thing, is his brother and his sister and his mom, maybe to a lesser extent, but maybe not. So, I find the way that it kind of goes for them, and for him, it’s kind of unexpected. I think he wanted, he was hoping that in bringing somebody else into their family, I think he thought that Claudia might be like him. [laughs] So, it’s interesting. I feel like an outcast, but to also be a part of – I mean, I’ll let Bailey talk more about about that part of it, but really, Claudia ends up being sort of forgotten about a little bit, and their dynamic, which is sad.
BAILEY BASS:   I think what’s wonderful though, is that there’s really no protagonist or antagonist. It changes through every scene in every episode, because these characters are so specific and complex, and Rolin Jones, the writer of the show, did an incredible job of explaining in depth why we do what we do. There’s a reason why we kill the people that we do, why we hurt each other. And because of that, the viewer kind of feels bad for the person hurting the other, but then also feels bad for the person being hurt.
QUESTION:   So, obviously, as vampires, your characters live very long lives. Which era would you like to see, be able to play your character in?
JACOB ANDERSON:   80s 80s 80s. I want the pastels. I want the hair. Let’s go, 80s.
SAM REID:   I’d probably do the 1700s. I think Lestat really that is where he’s from, and that’s the era in which he was born into, so I’d quite like to see him in that in that era.
BAILEY BASS:   I just want to get to the 50s. Like, I just want Claudia to get to the 50s so I can wear all those skirts and just explore more hairstyles, because we evolved. Doing the prep work, there wasn’t a lot of hairstyles – we had a horrible of time looking for photos of black girls in that time period with very versatile hair, which we know they existed, just no one took pictures of them. So, to be able to expand that more and show women who have curly hair, that this is what they look like in that time. I’d love to expand that and go into the 40s and 50s.

Book Club - Eddie Munson x Reader
Summary: Eddie doesn't expect to see you in the fantasy section at the Hawkins library. He has to take his chance while he has it, even if it means telling a little white lie that you're far too interested in.
feedback is greatly appreciated! comment, reblog, talk in the tags, send me a message, tell me what you think!
Tumblr media
Contrary to popular belief, Eddie Munson visits the library on a regular basis. He frequents the deep fantasy section, and even if he'll never admit it, he has a carefully planned out thought process as to which novel he'll bring home next.
It's a little checklist, the components measured being:
1.) Time since last return: has it been sitting there forever? Could he risk not taking it home right away? Or could he put it out of its misery?
2.) Time since arrival: is it a new book? Is he going to die without the knowledge it contains? Or can he let the hype around it die down?
3.) Previous affiliations: Is it a sequel to a book he really liked? Is it a prequel to a book he's never read? Will he be confused without reading another book first?
Sometimes, though, he just has to go with his gut. And his gut is currently telling him that he needs the book he'd passed up last week, a recently published deep fantasy novel heavily circling around dragons. He's loved dragons for years, since the moment he caught a saturday morning cartoon about their adventures around a fantasy realm. He turns the corner into the shelves where he knows the book is sitting, a confident spring in his step as the leather of his jacket bounces against his chest. He stops dead in his tracks, though, when he sees a very familiar cover, the book splayed open in your hands as you flipped through the pages.
You hear the commotion he makes by strutting in, the near-silent library watching as he makes his entrance. You step back against the shelves behind you, nodding apologetically to the shelf you were just standing in front of, "Sorry. Go ahead."
He's bewildered. He's never seen anyone else in the fantasy section before, he knows that there must be fans in Hawkins because sometimes the books get checked out, but he'd have assumed they were younger kids just getting into their first fantasy novel because there was a wizard on the cover. Not incredibly pretty people like you. And not to mention your age, you seem to be about his own, if only a year or two younger.
He finally lets a sheepish smile cross his face, "You're fine. I, uh, I was going for that one." He gestures to the book in your hands and your eyes widen, your fingers slipping out from between the pages as you snap it shut.
"Sorry! Sorry, I.. I haven't really read anything like this before," You hold the book out for him, "I was just curious. You can take it!"
"No, no, it's okay." Suddenly the burning desire for the book in your hands is gone, the cover looking much more suited in your hands than it would in his own, "You can read it. It's your first fantasy novel, I'd be a dick to take it from you."
You seem suspicious of his generosity, still extending the book towards him. He ducks for another book on the shelf, a title further down on his list, but still present, "I'll take this one. Been meaning to read it for ages."
"Are you sure?" You finally question him, and he nods vigorously, his hair bouncing wildly around his head.
"Under one condition, though." He takes the leap of faith, something funny twisting in his tummy at the sparkling curiosity in your eyes as you nod.
"You read a few of my recommendations."
You cock your head to the side at his offer and he steps forward, plucking a book off of the shelf.
"This one," He starts, "Is super good. Lots of worldbuilding, great character development." He tucks the thin book between his middle and pointer finger, using his thumb to pinch another in his grip, "And this one is more focused on mythical creatures," He hands them both to you, "It's a really good book for getting into fantasy."
You take them both with wide eyes, hooked on every word of Eddie's fantasy elevator pitch. He snatches one last book from the shelves, a personal favorite of his, "And this one's the best by far. It's the whole package, and it's got great battle scenes."
You have the books clutched to your chest and he realizes that if you rearrange them one will fall, so he keeps it in his hands, "If you wanna check 'em out, I can help you to the counter."
You deliberate for only a moment, then you nod once, "Thank you. You're.. you're Eddie, right?"
He should be stunned that you know his name, but something sinks in his chest as he realizes it's probably due to his not-so-great reputation around town. But he plays it off, nodding as his grin curves up to expose a glimmer of his teeth, "That's me."
"Thank you, Eddie." You offer him the first smile of what will be many, the sight warming his heart and bringing a flush to his cheeks, "I didn't know you were a big reader."
He struggles to make himself sound cooler, hellbent on impressing you instead of admitting that he hangs upside-down off of his bed with a book bent in half in his hands, "Um, yeah. I've got a.. book club."
He does not have a book club.
"A book club?" Your eyes shine, "Can I join?"
You cannot join his book club. He does not have a book club.
"Of course you can!" He smiles forcibly at you, though the expression melts into a genuine gooey one as your face lights up, "If you give me your number, I can call you before the next meeting."
"I don't have a pen or paper," You lament, "I'll see if the front desk-"
"No, no." Eddie waves you off, taking the books carefully from your grasp and tucking them under one arm, "Here. I've got a sharpie."
He plucks the permanent marker out of his pocket, handing it proudly over to you. He silently thanks his doodling habit for keeping him prepared.
"I still don't have paper." You laugh awkwardly, but he holds out the hem of his denim vest.
"Here, sweetheart." The pet name rolls easily off of his tongue, but doesn't seem as mindless as it usually does, bringing a momentary flush to your cheeks, "Just sign it there."
"But that's- this is permanent." You remind him, as if that hadn't been the reason for the suggestion, "It won't wash out."
"Then I'll remember you forever." He grins cheekily at you, still brandishing the denim towards you, "C'mon. Digits, babe."
You seem flustered speechless at his bold words, but it shocks you into compliance, and you scribble your number onto the grungy jacket. He watches your tongue poke out of your mouth in concentration with an adoring twinge in his eyes, not bothering to break the gaze when you step back and notice it.
'Perfect." He takes back the sharpie that you hand him, then carefully deposits the books back into your grasp, "Now come on, I'll walk you to the front. 'Gotta make sure you don't chicken out on me." He's teasing, but something deep down inside of him is truly concerned that maybe he'd been too forward, that maybe you were just being nice about his fantasy fixation and that you'd put the books back altogether once you were out of his sight.
He watches you check out the books with growing amusement, incredulity at your follow-through warming his chest and making his heart thump. Then he remembers his blatant lie, panic clawing at his lungs as his smile drops.
He needs to start a book club.

hey aqua, i'm here to ramble about your stupidly amazing au that's got me bouncing off the walls between chapters being posted
firstly, i put all the fics in a doc (because you know, I gotta keep track of what i've read and haven't read, and it's totally not because i want to save it forever and pass it on to my grandchildren)
the doc contains the warnings, summaries, a/n's and everything in between but i wouldn't think it would make a huge difference to the 100K WORDCOUNT
so here is is, the horrifying word count that is honestly longer than most actual published novels and the amount of pages, which to be honest, would be larger if this was actually printed in book size (font size proportionately to the page size), to which the page number would be.... too much, honestly. even I don't want to calculate that and i'm insane
Tumblr media Tumblr media
now i assume you knew all this already, since you probably have also been writing this in a google doc to keep track of it, but then again docs slows down dramatically under 397 pages of brainrot-inducing writing so i dont expect you to be using it too often. if you are, congratulations and have a gold star
it's more of i'm collecting useless bits of information like this to show to whoever has read the series, because it's so good, it's so ridiculously amazing, and it so could be turned into a book if someone tried hard enough and i need people to back me up
heck, it's written so much better compared to most novels, it's just that good. i even turn to it when i don't feel like writing. i read it, and then through some miracle, i have all the writing talent and motivation in the world, seemingly having absorbed it from your work.
tldr: htpau is amazing. if you haven't read it you should read it. and it's that good that it literally could be a book. zero exaggeration. (can you tell that this thought has kept me awake many nights)
now hopefully you weren't too baffled to see such a long ask in your inbox, and hopefully you don't question me, as someone who hasn't read a proper novel in years, who has basically reread every chapter once or twice basically as soon as it comes out
i don't need therapy, i need more of your writing. (because hels no does chapter nine end like this) ba dum tss
and then, i leave you, with a gold star and many thanks ⭐
HAGAJDHJA HOLY SHIT
i do use google docs but i make a new one for every chapter for the reason u mentioned, once they’re past a certain page count it gets real slow and i don’t have the patience for that. so uh yeah, i don’t think i ever bothered to calculate the total running word count. it’s not the longest fic i’ve ever written, and i don’t think it will be by the time i finish it, but that’s definitely a NOT INSIGNIFICANT number of words, goddamn.
someone did bind one of my fics into an actual hard cover book once, just for their own personal use. man, that was sick. now i don’t think i’d ever try to alter a fic of mine to actually publish it, cuz so much of what i write hinges too much on the original content, but fan-bindings are A-OKAY so long as i get to see pics :3
anyway, no worries about the long ask, i love hearing from u guys. i’m flattered u went thru the trouble of consolidating it and i’m glad ur enjoying the au!

“Hey, Y/N,” your co-worker, Steve, calls from the return cart. “Check this one out.” The two of you are constantly finding the most ridiculous books, daring each other to read them. Steve’s holding up a copy of The Infernal Desire Machines of Doctor Hoffman. “This is your challenge for the week.”
“I accept your challenge,” you say with a knowing smirk, “and raise you this.” You toss him the romance novel that someone had brought back earlier. You’d been saving it for this exact moment since you checked it in earlier.
Steve catches it, wrinkling his nose when he reads the title. “The Duke of Hardwood Kingdom?” he chuckles. “No way. Challenge denied.”
“C’mon, Harrington,” you protest, jutting out your lower lip in a pout, “you haven’t turned one down yet. Are you really gonna let the Duke be your downfall?”
“I guess not,” he grumbles, adjusting his glasses on the bridge of his nose and taking another glance at the cover. “But does he have to be so…naked?”
His comment catches you off-guard, and you bark out a laugh, clapping your hand over your mouth before someone shushes you. “I bet you wouldn’t be complaining if it was a naked woman.”
“No I would not,” he chuckles. “All right, I’ll read it. But I’m only doing this because I can’t turn down a dare,” he insists, pointing the paperback toward you.
“And you never know; it might help you with the ladies,” you tease, and he responds with a flip of his middle finger.
~
Your next shift that coincides with Steve’s isn’t for a few more days. You always get there before he does, and you greet him with a smile.
“How’s the Duke treating you?” You bat your eyelashes innocently, making him laugh.
“Thoroughly entertaining. I’ve read about more sex positions than I thought were possible,” Steve confesses. “But he’s always doing way too much, y’know? Like, why does he have to show up everywhere on a horse? Why can’t he just drive, like a normal person?”
“Who shows up everywhere on a horse?” Amy, another librarian, interjects as she flops a stack of returns on the counter.
“No one,” Steve mutters, just as you say, “Steve’s new best friend, the Duke of Hardwood County.”
Amy raises her eyebrows in disbelief, an amused grin spreading across her face. “Well, maybe it’s because it takes place in 1803? Like, way before cars were invented.”
“You read it?” Steve asks her, and she nods. “Okay, then I have a question for you.”
“Fire away.”
“What the hell is a petticoat?”
~
The next day, Steve slaps The Duke of Hardwood Kingdom onto the counter triumphantly. “Finished!”
“Congrats,” your voice is dripping with sarcasm as you break out into a slow clap. “And it wasn’t even a picture book.”
“You slay me with your humor,” Steve grunts. “But I will say, it actually wasn’t half bad. Kinda corny, but not the worst book I’ve ever read.”
“Care to share your findings with the class?” you tease, filing the book back into circulation. “Any tips or tricks you picked up from the Duke?”
“Besides traveling via horse?” Steve scrunches his face. “Not really. Oh, but there was one scene where the Duke and Serenity—that was the chick’s name—were dancing at the Grand Ball, and I realized I’ve been dancing all wrong.”
You laugh and start on another stack of returns. “Steve, have you been breaking into the YMCA during the slow songs?”
Steve rolls his eyes at you when you start doing the moves. “Uh, no. But I just kinda did the whole…here, let me show you.” He awkwardly takes your hands and places them on his shoulders, putting his own hands on your hips. “So I used to slow dance like this.”
“Oh my God,” you throw your head back and giggle. “Steve, this is like how Eddie Munson and I danced at the middle school Snow Ball!”
“Yeah, yeah,” he mutters, trying to ignore the pang of jealousy he feels over a dance you shared when you were thirteen. “But now, thanks to the Duke, I’ll dance like this.” He holds your left hand in his right, and you let your right hand rest on his bicep. “There ya go,” he muses, bringing his free hand to the small of your back and pulling you close.
“Now we just need some music,” you joke, but Steve’s too lost in your eyes to pick up on it. You’re suddenly aware of the lack of space between you. “Okay, well…” you clear your throat and step back, “gotta get back to these bad boys,” you blurt out, smacking the pile of books for emphasis. Heat creeps up your neck from the embarrassment.
“Yeah, they’re, uh, not gonna check themselves in,” Steve chuckles nervously, shoving his hands in his pockets. You both get back to work for a few minutes before suddenly saying, “Do you like music? Like, um, listening to it and stuff?”
“Mhm,” you nod, allowing yourself to glance in his direction.
“Cool.” He bites his thumbnail, a habit you’d noticed he engages in when he’s anxious. “Would you wanna listen to some with me sometime? Maybe tonight after work?”
You smile, unaware that it lights up the room—no, the whole library—for him. “That sounds like fun.”
“Cool,” he repeats, “I’ll see ya then.” He shoots you finger guns as he backs up, nearly walking into the cart.
“You learn those moves from the Duke, too?”
“Shut up.”

Novel I have the funniest story
So I have Discord, right? And recently, my mobile Discord notifications haven't been sending. I don't know why, I have all the permissions turned on, but it won't work—whatever, right? As long as I check my phone regularly, right?
And it's been a really good day! I got the highest grade on my essay, I totally nailed a presentation, I made my favorite soup for dinner—a great day. It's around 6:50 PM and I'm cradling my soup in one hand on the couch, just relaxing from the day. It's my first break from homework for a while, and I'm enjoying it. I decide to share the positivity in one of my group chats on Discord with my close friends. So I send "@everyone love you" and I close Discord, thinking nothing else. I finish my soup, I do the dishes, and I go upstairs to play some video games on my computer.
All the while, I haven't checked my phone. I don't have Discord open on my PC, and I've been trying to cut my hours on my phone to focus on the real world (aka touching grass). I play a game, and while I'm waiting for another player to take their turn, I check my phone because I'm bored.
Strangely, I have one notification. I don't recognize what app it's from, but it looks like a text or call. I unlock my phone to check and find out it's my friend Catherine calling me on Whatsapp. Strange, right? We only use Whatsapp for sending videos that are too big for other applications and for when my internet kills Discord. (For context, Catherine is my best friend and basically the Novel to my Ritz. Also, my wifi is awful—probably why I've been struggling to receive notifications)
I think the call is weird, especially since there were no Whatsapp texts accompanying it. I try to call Catherine back, but she doesn't pick up. I reason as to why she did it—most likely I didn't respond to Discord fast enough so she tried to get my attention elsewhere. That makes sense, we do it all the time to each other. So I go and check Discord.
It opens to the channel I left it on, where I pinged my friends and told them love you. I notice I had 6 DMS, but I noticed my friends had replied and I was curious to see how they were. had already forgotten I did that, to be honest, so I go and read the responses. Let me just:
(Cami)
@everyone love you
(Raven)
LOVE YOU TOO
(Jasper)
love you too
(Slyvie)
You're the best! :)
(Raven)
Why the random love you tho?
(Sylvie)
Yeah, that confused me a bit too
(Raven)
Cam whats goin on?? Why the random love you?
And suddenly, it hits me why Catherine called.
And my first thought is: oh my god, they do not think I killed myself.
I open my DMs to Catherine, and sure enough I see: "are things mostly okay Cami? You haven't marked off anything from your accountability list, and there was the message you sent in the groupchat. I'm a little worried."
And I just go: OH MY FUCKING GOD THEY THINK I KILLED MYSELF.
Which is literally the worst way you could ever respond to "love you" with, by the way
Anyway, I explained what happened and now it's going to be an inside joke with the group. I literally despise my friends, theyre the best😭😭😭
Tumblr media
LMAO GIRL NO! You be out here givin people heart attacks professionally istg 😭
But honestly as someone who's done this on accident too this is so funny 😂😂😂
Also my discord mobile notifs have been fuckin up too! What's up with dat? 🤔
Also!
CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR SCORE!!! 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎊🎊🎊🎊🥳🥳🥳🥳🥂🥂🥂🥂 SO PROUD OF YOUUUUUU!!!!!

hello-first and foremost, congratulations on graduating :DD
secondly, i have never done these sort of things due to my shyness as well as english not being my mother tongue so apologies for my lack of understanding if i ever word something wrong.
i saw your cafe event and just decided out of the blue to give it a shot so, here we are-(apologies if i give too much info or too little-)
🥐
for fandom, preferably the marauders fandom if that's alright- i have recently been sucked into the marauders fandom due to a friend(i did not expect this much angst-), now onto some info about myself. i am an intp and a libra, currently taking psychology, who also does art from time to time- but for the most part i am a cosplayer. i read, occasionally, and it's always either a really dark novel or a light-hearted romance. my hogwarts house is slytherin, which people say are a half surprised and half expected, because i try not to get too confrontational but when i am- i get too brutally honest and make sure my opinion and thoughts are clear. i can also be a teeny bit petty at times, and i've been known to somehow always get what i want- i am a big big big hopeless romantic, and i pretty much spoil my friends by buying them flowers or writing letters to them almost everyday because that's my love language. when people first meet me, i am very cold and distant which intimidates most people but once i feel comfortable around someone i get pretty loud and clingy. my aesthetic, in the best words that i could put it in, is the grungy rockstar gf aesthetic.
i also do makeup on anyone, to the point that my classmates will ask me to randomly do their makeup during lunch break. i practically live in eyeliner and black coats. i am also polyamorous, asexual, omniromantic and identify as a demigirl(though i am starting to question my gender identity AGAIN). i spend most days at the library or just my room in general, but on the occasional days where i go out, i will normally go visit museums, go shopping, or stop by cafes(i love cafes alot). and i think that's everything? again, apologies if i did something wrong and congratulations again on finishing school :DD

thank you so much for this ask 🖤
i ship you with...
Tumblr media
poly!wolfstar !!!
okay, so, i was going back and forth between sirius and remus, but then i saw you're polyamorous so i thought it just more appropriate to give you both <3
you and remus are trading books every few days, recommending and giving eachother annotated books
i feel like sirius would be apprehensive about dating you because of your house and his whole family history with slytherins, but after he gets to know you he cannot get you out of his head
remus is 100% ready to jump in head first with you, but he did have a slight moment of hesitation a few weeks in when the full moon comes around.
if you write any love letters to sirius or remus they'll keep them in their bedside drawers and even ask lily how to press flowers so they can keep the ones you give them
every time you give them something they return the favour.
you give them flowers, you're getting a field of them in your dorm
sirius would 100% ask you to do his makeup for him, even if he's not going anywhere, but especially for parties.
he's laying on his bed with you on his lap applying eyeliner while laying his head in remus' lap so the three of you are involved.
they'll never let you feel left out for even a second.

Hello sweetie ! Congratulations for your 1k, you totally deserve it, your writing is so soft and, how could I say it, light? I mean it's always so sweet to read and I'm always in a good mood after ❤️
If I dare ask for a little cupcake🧁 (but really if you don't feel it or don't have time it's ok ^^, I'm just really curious 🫣)
About me: I'm a short woman (157,5cm) but I'm kinda okay with it. True Hufflepuff, I have only a few friends but they mean the world to me. I love reading (fantasy or swashbuckling novel kind), my puzzles and just enjoying my time quietly or with some music. I'm shy at first but when I'm at ease, I laugh at good jokes and can't stop talking, mostly when the subject is interesting. I love when I can have a real talk with people, not just small talk, I can't stand hypocrisy.
I think that's it. Thank you for taking time to read this at the very least and really, don't feel presure ❤️
Have a lovely day and again, congratulations 🌸🌸🌸
Val 🌸
hi val! thank you so much for the congratulations! I’ve never had someone describe my writing as ‘light’ before so i’m quite happy that you did and even more happy to know that you feel better afterwards! thank you also for wanting to celebrate my milestone with me through a cupcake! I’m sorry i took so long, darling and i hope you enjoy!
from what you’ve told me, i ship you with Remus Lupin!
i. you two are a match made in heaven! Such a true pair, in fact, many people speculated you were dating before you two even spoke a word to each other, they just found so many similarities between you. The rumours grew so much that it eventually reached the two of you and made your first encounters rather awkward. there was a lot of teasing from the marauders on remus’s end whereas your friends also teased you on your side of things so it took a little longer for the two of you to properly get acquainted outside the rumours people had built up around you
ii. deep down, you didn’t want to succumb to their fantasies of what your relationship with remus should be, platonic or romantic, but you couldn’t help but be drawn to him and him, you. even though it made it hard to spot you in a crowd, remus adored your shorter size compared to him, it was a charming size difference to him. people often see him looming over you with a soft and tender aura, his gaze gentle on your adorable form doing mundane things before him. you, however, found a lot of comfort in his towering height, it was very helpful having him around to get books from higher shelves in the library or have him easily cast his cloak over you if it ever started raining. since his presence was largely comforting compared to his size, you’ve grown a particular fondness for his loftiness.
iii. the two of you have this thing where you’d exchange some books for the summer and return to provide your reviews in person. remus quickly grew to know which genres and tropes you liked in a book and often searched for them, even pushing himself to read them quickly before summer so that he could lend them to you and the two of you can have fun going through the story together. people would usually find you both pressed close together on a library or common room sofa sharing a book with you leaning in close as remus hovers from above your height, his gaze regularly drifting to stare at you
iv. you introduce him to puzzles and he introduces you to chess. he teaches you well and soon enough you’re beating him at almost every game of chess he challenges you for. it hurts his pride to have you overtake him so quickly in terms of skill but he doesn’t know that it’s only because you worked so hard in order to impress him. your efforts weren’t in vein either, because he really was impressed and, over time, grew to accept the challenge and looked forward to every chess match with you.
v. for puzzles, you got him a huge elaborate one as a present and the two of you worked through it together over the christmas holidays when he - and the rest of the marauders - decided to stay at hogwarts for sirius. the boys can’t count how many hours you and remus spent by the common room fire going over the puzzle together as you softly humm christmas jingles under your breath. The boys would have complained more about you stealing ‘their remus’ despite not being official if you didn’t bribe them with snacks and treats from the kitchens. — ‘she’s a keeper remus!’ peter cheers around a mouthful of pastries before chugging some of his hot chocolate along with sirius and james who fought over the chocolate chip cookies.
vi. another favourite activity you and remus liked to do together was reading in bed together as soft melodies played from an enchanted lyre you were gifted by your aunt who adored music. He’d have one of his long arms stretched out across your shoulders as he read his book in one hand while you rested your head against his chest and flipped through the pages in front of you. whenever the marauders would see you too cuddled up and comfy together, they would pucker their lips in mock kisses and dramatically flutter their lashes until remus threw a spare pillow at them and you became a giggling mess.
vii. remus could listen to you talk all day long, adding in his own thoughts and theories here and there but not often. you’d be sat next to him as he rested his chin against his palm, propped up by his elbow on the desk. it was when you two were mid sentence that you finally saw the adoring look in his eyes and stuttered to a stop. remus saw no fault in your flustered appearance and simply tucked a stray strand of hair behind your ear before uttering “go on…”. after this moment, a flip switched between you two and it wasn’t long before you made it official with a bashful but sweet kiss between the bookshelves of the hogwarts library.
viii. like a true hufflepuff you were loyal to him, you didn’t care of his scars or his ‘furry little problem’ when he finally confided in you his struggles, especially when the boys urged him to be more open as his secrecy put a noticeable strain in your relationship. you were there for every full moon no matter if your role wasn’t like the boys, in fact, you took care of all the boys before and after a full moon to show your support and willingness to help — a demonstration of true love that remus wouldn’t ever dare breaking or take for granted
ix. honourable mention, i also, lowkey ship you with, james potter! He’s a sweetheart but a little intense and you’re someone who grounds him gently, your presence calms him and makes him feel like everything is going to be okay, which is especially good whenever he has pre-game jitters for quidditch matches - you’re like his lucky charm. He’s just as talkative as you are so the conversations the two of you share are always so engaging that other surrounding people feel compelled to listen in. sucks for them, however, because you two make up a lot of code names and shortcut phrases that only you two know the meaning of to be able to understand. you’re the first person to call james out on his hypocrisy when it comes to the treatment of slytherins as some aren’t as bad as the louder, more evil ones tend to be. you made him see through his own prejudices and fixed up his act as soon as you said ‘i hate hypocrites, james,’. you made him a better person and he loves you for that.

Heya again, Sab!
I think I have read ALL of the fanfics you've written so far, and I am IN LOVE with almost all of them.
I have mentioned this before- you have inspired me to write, and guess what? i finally started too! But now I am wondering, how do you even manage to write fics that extend 10k words? Like some of you fics are 16k+ which is inspiring. I mean as a reader it doesn't seem like it's much, you just indulge into it and get lost into the world created by the words written. But when I tried to write something? God I could barely write anything!
Hats off to your hard work! I never realised how difficult it would be to write until I started lmao.
That being said, do you have any tips for writing relatable fics? Like your fics paint a descriptive image, and as the reader, I can imagine myself being a part of the fic.
I really appreciate your work Sabina! Also, you mentioned you started working on books? Firstly, congratulations! Secondly, what kind of story are you planning on writing sab? If it's okay to share?
awww bb thank you so much 😭🥹 I appreciate this ask so much — it’s literally so sweet!! I’m so glad you started to write!! It’s so much fun and I hope you find joy in it 🥹
writing is difficult but as with anything, it’s easier with practice! for me, I’ve written a lot over years — I wrote a novel when I was in high school so writing long stories isn’t exsctly unusual for me, but I think what helps me personally is having a bulleted list of things I want to happen and a general flow of how I want things to do.
for series like prof geto or even longer fics, I usually have a list of scenes that I have planned out — usually I bounce ideas off of Hannah or Laney and they help me work out what I want to happen in a fic — everyone’s process is different! For me, detailed planning never worked — I would end up stuck in the weeds. I like to have a vague plan and then start writing and then things tend to shift when you write (characters have a mind of their own) and plans change.
I have writing tips under sab [writing tips] — I’m not exactly sure what you mean by relatable fics — for the reader, I do try to keep the reader as vague as possible so the person reading can step into their shoes. but I also prefer for them to have a personality because otherwise they lose all agency and memorability. so it’s kind of about striking that balance — a lot of my fics have some of my own quirks in them — like my best friend read a fic of mine and said she could hear my voice in it haha (which doesn’t mean I’m self inserting at all because I’m definitely not) but I think it’s about having some of your own humor and authenticity in there if that makes any sense at all — I hope that helped a bit
I think I shared the plot of both of my on going projects under sab [novels] I believe !! I don’t wanna retype all that here because it’s long haha but thank you 🥹🥹 that means the world to me because my novels are truly my babies haha

Day #2: Mistaken Identities

Stiles was a writer, having obtained a master’s degree in creative writing and literature. For the last two years he had been writing a novel. Now after several months of making sure it was perfect, he took his work to a publisher.
However, he barely got started with his presentation when he was being escorted from the premises by security. The head honchos at the Silver Spring Inc. Publishing Company threatened to sue him for copyright infringement, theft, fraud and many more if he dared to show his face there again. Stiles didn’t fight them on it, feeling completely lost and numb. He didn’t understand how he could be charged with such things when it was his work.
It was when Stiles was walking back to his apartment from the publishing company that he came upon a display at the local bookstore. There, in the front window, sat his book titled, He Ignited My Spark under the pen name, Mischief Managed. Stiles’s eyes welled with tears of frustration. It hurt him deeply to see the name. Mischief had been his mother’s nickname for him and well Stiles also adored Harry Potter. Now, both of those things felt tainted and he hated it.
It was now abundantly clear that Stiles’s book had been stolen and someone was reaping the benefits of his hard work. Not only that, but they used a name that people would believe belonged to Stiles. He hated to think that someone close to him might’ve been the one to do this, might’ve been the one to betray him.
Next, he checked online and found out that the book, his book, had become the number one bestseller in the world and was being displayed in the front windows of over a hundred stores across the world. It even had the top spot on the New York Times Bestseller List which had always been one of Stiles’s dream. That made this all the more heartbreaking for him.
After grabbing the bare necessities from his apartment, Stiles quickly drove home to see his husband, Peter. They lived in a country home but Stiles had been staying in the city apartment the month leading up to his presentation to Silver Spring Inc.
When he pulled into their driveway, Stiles saw that some of his friends had texted him and others had messaged him on social media. His phone was blowing up, each notification another chip against his armor and another slash of pain to his heart. Everyone was congratulating him, thinking he’d chosen a pen name.
Red_Queen: Congratulations Stiles! What do you say to a shopping trip just us two? You’ll have interviews no doubt and it’ll be good to get you looking the part. 💋
Catwoman: Hey Batman! Look at you go! Clever name! I approve! We’re having an HP movie marathon for our next hangout!
Scarf-aholic: Hey man! Nice job on your book! I get an autographed copy right? Did you put your favorite person in it? Aka me?
Thumper: I am never wrong but apparently this time I was. So, congrats on the NYT Bestseller Bambi! We have to celebrate. Drinks are on me okay? 😉
The more Stiles read, the more depressed and hurt he became. He turned off his Jeep and headed inside, not even caring that he ended up soaked by the sudden rain. It just added to his already terrible day.
Peter was in their kitchen when Stiles arrived home. When the wolf went to greet his husband, he noticed right away something was wrong. However, before ye could ask about it Stiles silenced him with a kiss, plastered on a small smile and turned away from the wolf.
Stiles had no energy to speak, not even to his husband. He was hurt and even more so because no one had realized the book wasn’t Stiles. The amber eyed man headed to the bathroom to shower and tried to forget for tonight that his work had been stolen.
Peter was one of the smartest people alive and it didn’t take much to figure out what had happened. What was rage inducing was that he was the only one who had figured it out.
When he realized what had happened, Peter was pissed. His mate had gone to bed without eating supper, had curled into a small ball in the middle of their bed and was wearing Peter’s clothes. The sight was setting off all of Peter’s protective instincts.
With a snarl, Peter paced back and forth in the hallway just outside their bedroom door. His gums were itching and his claws kept repeatedly sheathing and unsheathing.
After a few moments, the wolf halted his movements and his mouth stretched into a malicious smirk. Oh, Peter knew exactly what he was going to do. He kissed his mate’s forehead and scented him. Then he headed to his office and shut the door firmly.
It looked like it was time for the alpha to revisit his little black book and his little red book. No one who made his mate cry deserved to breathe let alone have all the accolades that were rightfully Stiles’s. Oh, yes. Peter would fix this and he would do it now.

uh i may have sent my ask too soon without completing it hejsjdjsksj im using mobile 😭
ANYWAY midterms are over thank god but i'm back at school again cuz spring break was only a week long and i turned 20 since it happened to start on my bday back in march mweheheh
BUT YEA AJDJSJJDHDJS LIKE I WOULD EXPECT A HIGH SCHOOLER TO KNOW WHAT A FRIGGIN SCORPION IS??? LIKE HELLO??? but yea! my bf is like albedo but edgy/emo? like usually wears darker clothing and hoodies, but he's really cute (will deny being called that and insists im cuter) and he's super sweet too so things are going rlly well!
anyway social anxiety is like. the bane of existence. especially as a college student and being an adult so thats fun to deal with aha :"D i don't really like the attention either since it makes me feel cornered so i just kinda make myself as small as possible or hide next to one of my friends- like. i make my body language pretty obvious when i don't want to socialize but people do it anyway hhhhhh
also nw! i've never read pride and prejudice but it sounds interesting! :D but i can relate to not being able to sit and read for long periods of time ehe (meanwhile i'm having an artist block-)
NUU DONT APOLOGIZE TAKE UR TIME-
Tumblr media
KSWMJWWKQM YEAH, YOUR LAST WISH IS NOT HAPPENING LMAO 😭☝️since i'm on a break from school, i got extra lazy and just played hsr/draw smth inside my room for most of the time, sleeping at 5 am and waking up at 2 pm has been my new sleeping schedule 😭😭 i hope your sleeping schedule is much better than mine lol
*cough* anywayyyy
Weweweee, i don't know how many people have said it to you, but happy birthday and congratulations for making it to 20! I'm sure the journey for you to make it this far is not smth small, so i wanna shout out to you that you're verryyy amazing, and you earn a head pat and also a hug from yourself or from someone that you're already comfortable with 🫂
Well, you earn more than just a head pat and a hug, but i'll just say those two to make it simple :]
AND AYOO???? "will deny being called that and insists im cuter" THAT IS SO CUTE FROM BOTH YOUR BF AND YOU JSJSJAKQIWK- what is this cutesy couple thingy that i have only heard from people.... it was actually real???
Moving on lmao- YEAH, ME TOO!!! I make my body language obvious to people when i don't want to interact but people do anyway, altho if they were just asking for a way to a place or smth simple, i'm like okay with that. But if someone talks to me when i really don't want to talk, i'd be making a weird face (honestly i look like i'm constipated-) first for a quick second before i face that person lmao
Actually, i started pride and prejudice because of a fanfic LMAOOO. The fanfic itself was just a bunch of things from classical novels, and i got interested real fast since it was yandere-themed lol (the fanfic was so SILLY SKWKWSK i lop it)
I'll just respond you with this after you said that you're having an artist block:

Good luck, vivi 😭💪

many congratulations on completing nie wirst du!!! what a ride 🎉🎉
for writer's ask -
🕶️ - what helps you concentrate when you write?
📗 - do you want to write something outside of  fanfiction? if so, what about?
🐇 - do you write for yourself, for others, or both?
🥳 - why did you start writing fanfic?
Thank you!! And thank you for the questions :)
What helps you concentrate when you write? A couple of things! I can do a drabble in between other things or even sneakily write one at work, but for longer prose or poetry what helps most is knowing I have a sufficient amount of time set aside for writing. I also write best in liminal spaces, especially trains. Airplanes are okay too because I don’t like flying and writing is a great distraction. Other things that help in no particular order: sufficient food and hydration, white noise (my current favourite is ocean waves), having done some stretches because I always have back pain, my adhd meds, and knowing I don’t have anything urgent I need to be doing instead.
Do you want to write something outside of fanfiction? If so, what about? I am a writer irl though I don’t give many details on here. I’ve mainly been writing poetry for the last couple of years, but fic has actually given me an entry point back into prose. As a rule, I love writing about the different ways humans connect with each other (or don’t) and the way our bodies move in relation to each other. I also enjoy delving into complicated relationships.
For you write for yourself, others, or both? Both! I write for myself in that I’ve always had a need to write. It helps me be a person in the world to have that creative output and play around with words in a way I wouldn’t get to do otherwise. Fic’s been playing a large role in helping me adjust to a full-time job and still feel vaguely fulfilled in life. Poetry has been very cathartic in the past and has now become a way for me to delve deep into that fun experimentation with words and the way they appear on the page. But I’ve also always known that I want my writing to be read. Whether it’s here on tumblr, over on Ao3, in literary journals and anthologies or, one day, in a full book of my own, I like putting my writing out in the world and having people read it. What I like even more is when people actually want to talk to me about it or when I find friends through reading each other’s work. So yes to all three. I write to feel fulfilled, I write to bring others writing they might like to read, and I write to have some of that feedback come back to me.
Why did you start writing fanfic? There are two answers to this. When I was about twelve, I wanted to write but didn’t really have a concept of what made original work original work. I started a few fics for different fandoms and finished none of them. I also started a short story around that time that ended up turning into a novel I worked on for over four years. Looking back it is of course slightly embarrassing to read my writing from back then, but at the same time, I’m still so proud that young me persevered over so many years and finished a whole book. And I’m glad knowing younger me always had a place to go to in their head if life was a lot. As for Rebecca fic — I saw the musical in Vienna and it changed me. I didn’t expect it to, I didn’t even realise it had done so after I left the theatre, but when I woke up the next day something “had changed within me” (ha!). I spent my seven-hour train journey back home listening to the Stuttgart cast recording, devoured the book, read most Rebecca fics on Ao3 and was appalled to find that there were very few finished fics that gave either the narrator or Danny a happy ending. I was also in that strange liminal place between finishing university and getting a job, so I had a lot of free time and a lot of creative energy waiting to be tapped. Then I started writing Was Wird Aus Uns and was met with so much excitement, enthusiasm and kindness that the rest is history. Now it’s just become a beloved part of how I spend my free time.

I need to call on a brains trust for an offer my partner made to me and I love following your blog, so this is the first place I thought of going (it’s about writing, don’t worry 😉). Long story short, my partner has a work connection with an author who has published three novelsall three of which have won awards; in general conversation if you say their name, people will know them. There’s a potential opportunity for me to meet them and chat about ‘writing stuff’.
Here’s the rub: I’ve only written fanfic. I only started writing this year. I’ve got some runs on the board (I’m not in my twenties anymore). I am pretty green when it comes to this writing business. I think I write okay but there is A LOT I still have to learn and I’m not even sure if I want to publish anything. All I know is that I think about writing, a lot. Am I wasting this person’s time if I want to meet them? Will this be a little like someone approaching a Beatle and saying “I’m a musician too” after playing guitar for a year? Or on the flip side, what questions could I ask that make it worth their time? Should I wait a few more months/years until I have more experience or have written something other than fanfic?
Would love to hear your thoughts!
First of all, a HUGE congratulations to you! 🥳🎉 That's so exciting and I'm THRILLED that you get to experience this kind of opportunity and encouragement!
I totally understand your perspective of worrying about wasting their time. I think most unpublished and/or newer writers would feel the same way! I know I would!
Let's get right to it—your fanfic is valid creative writing, period. You've been using all the essential craft elements to write your stories, no matter which characters or genres you prefer. Even though you feel green, you've been a writer for a while. That's not nothing!
Fanfic is also a form of publishing when the work gets posted online. You might have experience in getting reader feedback and overcoming the nerves of hitting post. That's great writing experience whether you get traditionally published or not.
I don't know this author or your situation, but you can reframe your perspective this way: think of it like a member of the Beatles listening to a newer guitar player on recommendation of a shared friend. They want to meet afterwards because that member sees potential in this guitar player.
Your partner is the shared friend! They clearly want to cheer you on and celebrate your skills by arranging this connection. (Congrats on what sounds like being with a fantastic human, by the way!) They see something in you and your writing. Potential, room for growth, a need for more of a writing community.
If and when you meet with this author, try looking at it as just an opportunity to connect with another writer. Chatting about writing stuff could just mean discussing how you started writing or what inspires you. Maybe they'll want to beta read your work or become a mentor. (It's also important to remember that every writer's journey to publishing or not will look different. This author may give one form of advice while someone else could say the exact opposite. Use your head and heart to evaluate what any mentor says.)
Also, maybe it goes nowhere at all. You might just have a pleasant time and leave feeling encouraged. It could go a number of ways.
You can absolutely bring a list of questions too! I think your list would depend on what you want for your writing life, even without the author potentially involved. Ask yourself the big questions like:
How important is creative writing to me as a hobby? (It's absolutely okay to write occasionally for fun and not want to go anywhere hardcore with it!)
Is writing fanfic fulfilling? Do I want to/feel the need to branch into original stories?
If I started writing my own stories, would it be for myself?
Do I picture creative writing as part of my future?
Do I want to learn more about the book publishing experience/industry?
Your answers will help you figure out your priorities, which lead to the questions you really want answered.
Meeting other writers and talking about creative writing in general is such a gift. It's why I started this blog! You won't be wasting this author's time whatsoever. I'm sure they'll love getting to know you and talking about whatever makes you most curious.
Who knows—you might hit it off and get coffee sometime afterwards. You never know what could come of a casual meet-up.
Whether or not you meet this person, keep writing! Fanfic and original stories are so much fun. You'll grow by doing both.
I wish you the absolute best and I hope that no matter what you decide to do, you celebrate where you are in your writing journey and take a moment to enjoy the encouragement of your partner's support.

congratulations on getting an agent! that’s amazing 🎉 do you mind sharing your querying journey (what was it all like? when you started, how many queries you sent, how many full requests, and other stats? things you expected about querying? things you didn’t expect? lessons you learned? etc?)? just whatever you feel like sharing 😊
Yes!
So tbh I feel like I both had an easier but longer journey. I didn't send too too many queries (in contrast to some folks) but I was querying for a long time. I started when I was 18 for reference, so I queried for almost four years exactly (3 years and 352 days lol) but I took long pauses to overhaul the novel between query batches based on any feed back I'd gotten. I sent queries in batches of 4-6 and didn't send more until I'd gotten responses from everyone from one batch.
So:
33 queries sent (I resent edited queries to the same agents 4 times which feels a little 🧍🏿‍♀️)
6 partial requests (quick bit of advice: different agents have different specific ways they want you submit. It might be annoying to reformat everything, but just do it)
4 full requests (and let me tell you, when I sent fulls to "famous" agents, I was waiting for upwards of half a year, which can also account for the time gap)
1 offer of rep (woohoo!!!!) from an agent I feel really understands my vision for the book, and will be a great representative for me when sub time comes. For revisions, I'm not having to change any plot points, just explain a little bit more stuff so they're not too grueling. Plus I write super fast and that helps lol.
I think querying for so long definitely toughened me up. I was really expecting for the first agent I queried, who I considered a dream agent at the time, to adore my book, sign me immediately, and offer no critiques before we went on sub for three seconds and scored a billion dollar deal (and I queried her TWICE because I was just that hooked up on it lmao). As you can see, that didn't happen. I got some rejections after months, and some after only a few hours. And at the begining? Oh they HURT. They hurt BAD.
And then you get another and another and another, and the sting lessens over time.
I became a lot better at being critical of myself, which I feel like is the most important skill in querying- understanding that you are going to have to make heavy edits, kill your darlings, and just overall refine you book in ways you didn't see before. Even the version I sent to the agent I signed with was far from perfect, and I'm making revisions. And that's okay. It's a step to getting published.
It... Was hard. I had a friend tell me it was just not the right time for my book and to shelve it. I think that hurt more than a rejection. But I knew I wanted to be an author, and I knew I wanted to tell these character's stories, so I just kept working. I rewrote my book more times than I can count since I started writing it at 15. It's just all a very long process, and you have to be patient, and you have to KNOW that this is what you want to do and you're going to do it.
Last weird little tidbits of advice:
I had one person read a very old copy of my book. I had no beta readers. I never hired an editor. Don't do what I did. Beta readers can help you so so much. If you can find someone willing, have them help you!!!
Query that agent! I almost didn't query my agent because they said they were a fan of beautiful prose, and I didn't think I had that. But, after mustering the courage, I finally did and look what happened. Just send the query!! The worst they can say is no!!
If you get personalized feedback from a rejection, that is still really helpful. My book is better now mostly because of my rejection feedback because it was all telling me the exact thing to work on. For me, the writing was fine, but I tended to under-explain things. I got that feedback.... A lot. And I was able to fix it and eventually get an agent (woo!)
(even though my revisions are still centered around explaining oops-)
Anyway, I hope this was helpful! I hope I was able to give you a pretty good picture of my querying time! It was... Definately something!

⭐ -> star! ships. send your sexuality, gender, and a description of yourself and what fandoms you're in. ( as long as i'm in said fandom lol ) ill ship you with 1 or 2 characters!
i have long wavy black hair and dark chocolate brown eyes. i like spring a lot! especially because flowers start blooming around that time and i think flowers are lovely. i also really like to doodle. it’s fun, it’s quick, and  it’s relaxing!! but art in general is one of my passions. also music is almost always playing in the background whenever i do things.  and i really love rom coms and romance novels!! idc if it’s really cheesy, i just think it’s cute! i definitely believe in true love, even if i don’t think i might be able to meet mine. my favorite color is maroon! i’m also a virgo and i value my grades a lot and that can spiral in the wrong direction at times. i’m also short, 5”1 to be exact, and people tell me that i have small hands. i love high fives though, so i get that comment quite a lot. my love language is either touch or words of affirmation. i’m leaning towards words of affirmation but touch does help keep me grounded. i occasionally wear rings but i always my earrings and this one necklace. and i’d like to think that i’m a nice person! i really like to explain things to people if they don’t understand a topic and i’m pretty good at it too. i have really high expectations for myself and sometimes if i don’t meet that expectation i breakdown. i tend to cry easily, it’s not okay and is something that i’m working on. i’m bisexual and i’m in harry potter, marvel, and outer banks! it’s fine if you can’t do this and i’m sorry for writing so much!
ily jules! congratulations on the milestone and take care xx
Hello angel :)) ily more, and you take care as well. i hope you enjoy!!
From the Harry Potter Universe, I ship you with...
James Potter!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(depending on your image of James <3)
𝐉𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐬 would totally poke a little fun at your height, but he's made it clear he finds it endearing and he doesn't wish to upset you if he says something mean. Whenever he sees flowers, he thinks of you! While in school, James would always admire any and all nature forms with 'i know yasmine would adore this <333". Absolutely 100% will do/help you with homework, depending on the subject; James feels bad whenever he sees you cry, and he'll do anything to keep you from crying if he can help it :((( <333. Praises and gives you feedback about everything (they don't call him James motormouth Potter for nothing smh). Loved holding your hand because of how small they are and its a way for him to calm down. Will drop everything to make sure you're okay, it doesn't matter where you both are at. Loves when you ask for his input on jewelry and will spoil you rotten 🥰
(i'm only on season one of obx, so im so sorry if this is bad!)
From the Outer Banks universe, I ship you with:
Kai Cerrara!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ok but 𝐊𝐢𝐚𝐫𝐚 would probably love doing your hair because "it's literally so pretty, shut up!" Dancing to music on the beach or in a boat is a must, Kie definately tells you something like "ur legally required to sing cheesy love songs with me while we shimmy and dance around falling further in love with each other" idk I wasn't there 🤷. Kiara lovesss when you give her your random doodles/sketches :'( and would never throw them away. Asks you questions about things you like and know a lot about so she can hear your pretty voice explain things to her <3. I HAVE A BLURB IDEA: snuggling with Kie and her resting on your shoulder while you both read a romance novel or smth 😕❤️❤️ Would also get matching sets of like earrings, bracelets, necklaces, etc. Loves complimenting you :)
From the MCU, i ship you with...
Yelena Belova!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
𝐘𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐚, for one, adores any and all piercings you have- specifically ear piercings. I feel like Yelena also would love braiding your hair and matching outfits and jewelry with you. Watching romance/comedy movies are a must, since Yelena missed out on... a lot when she was brainwashed. Loveloveloves any and all affection you show her, and would be someone to give you random high fives whenever you do something you're proud of. Yelena would often buy small plants (pink polka dot, succulents, anything really) she thinks you'd like (but small enough to be kept out of Fanny's reach). If you both were bored one day and you were laying on the couch, Fanny asleep on your lap. "Wanna watch a movie, detka?" Yelena asked, flopping on your opposite. Immediately a large smile spread across Yelena's face at the speed of which yasmine's stetchbook and pencil were discarded and replaced with the remote. "You choose," Yelena requested, pulling the shared fluffy maroon blanket up to her neck.
Please keep in mind this is only my second ship, so I apologize if this is bad!! ❤️

Hi! Congratulations on 1000 followers! I would like to join the 1000 event, if that’s okay. I don’t know how to send this, but I hope this works!
My name is Lia, and my hobbies are reading, drawing, daydreaming, and playing games. I enjoy reading fantasy novels the most. I’m an introvert, and I get vey shy and nervous around strangers in real life. Because of that I tend to hesitate to speak and instead stay quiet most of the times strangers talk do me. But when I become friends with someone, (depending on how close I am with them), I can be sarcastic and talkative. Some of my friends say I’m sassy and funny, but others say my jokes are stupid old fashioned.
I get bored of certain tings easily, like games, which makes it hard for me to get into it but once I do I become slightly obsessed with it for a while before stopping.
I have a sweet tooth and I like to eat snacks.
That’s all, and i would like to ask for a romantic paring please, thank you!
Hi, it’s Lia, and I would like to add to my precious post if that’s ok!
I forgot to add that I also like to make jokes a lot, and I tend to get very emotional around certain things. I cry when I get angry, and I also laugh when things make me nervous.
This is all, for real this time!!
Your romantic matchup is Zhongli!
Tumblr media
You'll never have to worry about getting bored when Zhongli is around! With all of his endless knowledge on just about everything, there's always something new to learn. If you don't feel like talking, he's more than happy to entertain you with his many stories of his time as both a human and Rex Lapis. However, he is also perfectly content with just relaxing with you in silence. He feels at peace simply having you beside him, and all of his worries fade away with your gentle touch.
Though he's often the one doing the talking, he loves when he gets to hear you ramble about your favorite things! He can't help but smile when your eyes light up as you talk, clearly passionate about the current topic. If you mention having a favorite thing such as an object or food, you just might find it mysteriously appearing at your doorstep...So far, Zhongli has surprised you with beautiful jewelry, an intricate hairclip, and even a special dish that came all the way from Wangshu Inn. His desire to make you happy knows no bounds.
Always makes your comfort his top priority. Whenever you start to feel overwhelmed in public, he'll gently pull you aside and ask if you'd like to leave or if there's anything in particular he can do to ease your nervousness. If you're with your friends, however, he knows there's nothing to fret about. He quite enjoys seeing the more sassy side of you. He can't help but laugh watching you banter back and forth with your friends, words laced with heavy sarcasm. It intrigues him, and he wonders what else he has yet to discover when it comes to you. But that comes with time, and he's more than willing to wait.
Zhongli is also incredibly patient when it comes to your strong emotions; he knows that humans are much more susceptible to them. He is always ready to wipe your tears as you cry or simply listen to you vent about whatever has been worrying you. He will never take your anger personally, and he's quick to give you space if that's what you need. He's the perfect gentleman, and he will do everything in his power to make you happy. He looks forward to spending the rest of his mortal life with you, loving you ardently until the very end.
