having some late night thoughts on f1 and chats about Alonso and Vettel intending on sticking around for longer:

Maybe it’s not all that bad for some of the older drivers to occupy seats for longer? Maybe it’d be better for F3 and F2 to be something that young drivers do for a few years each? This is excluding the champions of course because that system actually makes so much sense and keeps talent developing properly, but I know it raises the question of what those drivers would do between f2 and f1 and unfortunately I don’t have any ideas there atm.

I’m just thinking about how Red Bull have stuck incredibly young drivers in f1 cars and immediately expected them to perform from the get go. We may have very talented people in the form of Piastri, Ilott and others partially sitting on the sidelines at the moment, but I’m just thinking about how a repeat of Max’s history in the sport really isn’t desirable.

I’d kinda rather have my favorite junior drivers get to be in their mid twenties before jumping in an F1 car for a full season, no matter their previous driving record. I have a suspicion it could have a positive impact on potentially dangerous incidents.

Anyways Idfk, this is just mindless midnight ramblings. Does anyone else have anything to add??

Spy obviously has no problems with pretending to know how much a gallon of milk is, he just peeks into his conversion chart notes, pretending it's his shopping list.

I want to think Heavy is completely fine with having to readjust to a new unit system, he just eyeballs most practical things anyways by holding them up and mumbling about how they approximately weigh like a chicken or his kettle bell etc. He's always been living in practical ignorant bliss.

Medic has a peer reviewed meltdown the first time he realises there's no uniformity in "a cup of ____" because every object has different densities. He's diligent about memorising the conversion rates for ounces, pounds, the most common things etc., and recovers ok. He goes through the same stages of grief rage when he finds out about distances and lengths.

Just remember four inches are 10.16 cm and pray no one asks you to specify anything bigger than inches.

Everyone does a mental victory lap when they manage to guess how much Celsius the weather is because they keep forgetting it's Celsius*5/9+32=Fahrenheit, Engineer reminds them patiently.

Started writing a fic back in early October and had to abandon it for a while due to IRL situations. But I've started working on it again little by little, and I am so excited to eventually share it with my mutuals and followers. I hope you guys enjoy it (I am trying my best to get it done)!

TBH my only motivation anymore is thinking about my friends having a good time reading it when it's finally posted (I love all of you very much). I cannot wait for all of these ideas to be fleshed-out on paper at last.

keep seeing that classic "god doesnt make mistakes" argument being used against trans folks and. ignoring the fact that not everyone follows the same god(s), ignoring the fact thst not everyone follows ANY god...

what if god just. made us to be trans?

there are people who say that they were put in the wrong body by mistake, yea, and those feelings are valid! im not here to police how people feel about their own gender, sex, and personal journeys. but for me, personally... if there is a god who designs us all with our bodies, minds, personalities, essences in mind, then.. i wasnt made this way by mistake, and that includes me being trans.

why would an omniscient being that is the beginning and end of everything, make a mistake? why would we assume someone who doesn't fit our own ideals is claiming that God, or whoever, is in the wrong? Why are we, as humans, so arrogant as to believe that it wasn't humans, instead, that made the mistake, in creating the labels and assigning attributes that are barely surface level?

if a God made me, then i was made to be trans. He made me navigate the world as a little girl, so that I could grow up to be a better man. If he didn't want me to transition, or to have the words to explain my gender, he wouldn't have given us the ability to do so. he wouldnt have given humans the knowledge necessary to question it, to perform surgeries and create hormones and have words to describe our lived experiences.
