look if your reaction to geriatric finale betty is "ugh of course she's the main character the writers are obsessed with her" i do get it but please keep in mind that

- they have kept her trapped in a cycle of emotional abuse with her mother for SEVEN seasons and all indicators are that it will last to the bitter end

- they tore her out of the one relationship in her whole life that made her feel seen and secure and loved for what will likely remain the most blatantly out-of-character plot machination I've ever seen in my life

- the seven years that followed are mainly notable for the fact that she a) was kept in a dirt pit by a serial killer for several weeks and b) became a cop

- they put her in a fuck buddy relationship that she proactively ended only to later accept being his second choice for [reasons not found], relationship then proceeds as a series of red flags clearly suggesting that not only are they fundamentally incompatible (which she already said, out loud, on screen) but that the relationship also consistently makes her feel inadequate and bad for being herself

- they made her the actual biblical whore of babylon (??? still don't understand this one)

- and finally when there's a full-on reboot her sole character traits are "horny for literally anyone at any time" and "constantly angry at mom" who, again, is still abusing her

so like, you're correct, the writers are obsessed with her. they're obsessed with TORTURING HER

I hate the idea that because people can change, that means that survivors of abuse must lower their guard or forgive the person/people as though their old self has died and thus is incapable of bringing others pain, or that somebody is foolish for being traumatized by abuse because "people can change!".

Yes, statistically-speaking, anybody can change. Yes, maybe even an abuser can change. More often, that's not reality. Oftentimes, their abuse might be rewarded in some way, further solidifying that behaviour and the thoughts that led up to them deciding that they had the right to treat another that way.

Maybe you're a survivor, and your abuser seems to have changed. You might feel guilty that you're "holding on too long" to a person who isn't there. That doesn't mean that you have to let your guard down around them or permit them to be in your life.

and ALSO intrigued by this bit where he walks into the barricade, sort of ambles around, and then absolutely zeroes in on Bahorel (yes, that's Bahorel! It's even verbally confirmed later! and he has a red waistcoat! One Actual Point to LM 2K from me XD) like that's who he was looking for in the first place

...the intrigue is not lessened by me being highly suspicious that Bahorel is also kinda immortal in this one (again: probably not on purpose, there's just. there's a lot of issues with the editing in this. Whoo boy this is not a good show.)

I am regressing to my high school self while studying for these exams and I don't like it. I feel tired and frustrated and I just want to cry and sleep, and I have not felt like this in so long, and I don't want it. I am again spiraling into thinking that I am going to fail my exams, and even though I am rationally aware it's just my tired brain bullying me I cannot make it shut up. I have studied terribly today, all I want to do is sleep, and I didn't even to everything I had planned. And on top of everything the professor of the exam I'll have to take on Monday hasn't emailed us yet the time of the exam, so I have no idea how much time to review I'll have that morning, with my commute and all. I have a bad feeling tomorrow I will have to do some studying even though I had promised to myself that Sundays are only rest days.

Productivity:

reviewed out loud the second half of my history of religions notes since it's the one that is making me struggle the most

finished my list of key words for the same exam

asked a friend to help me with a couple of things I wasn't sure about

Self care:

read first thing in the morning (I finished the chapter I started at the beginning of the week, I am so tired I can't even read uuugh)

went out to eat sushi with my mom (one of the smalls joys of today especially because I didn't have any anxiety symptoms while eating, which is one of the fun things my body has been doing to me lately. but today was all good and I really enjoyed my food so yay for my body collaborating)

went to the bookstore and got myself a new graphic novel I heard nothing about before (since I have no brain to read maybe a graphic novel is the right thing for me, I also plan on looking for one when I go to the city to take my exams next week, but today I did like I used to when I was younger and I just picked something I know nothing about that seemed exciting!)

Because ii is Very Good at Capitalizing on a Teenage Audience Who is Starved for ANY Trans Rep That They Can Eek By on Really Scuffed or Questionable Content Without Too Many People Getting Up in Arms About It. Its Unfortunate and I Really Do Not Like How Their Trans Characters are Written (Bot Esp is Like... If I Didnt Know Who Was Writing Them Id Think They Were a Deliberate Stereotype W/ How They Have No Personality Beyond Being Easily Offended and Being Trans), But ii is the Only Show in Town Where Trans Characters are Written With Things Like Coming Out Arcs and Internal Conflict Regarding Their Presentation and How They Are Perceived and This Gives AE a Lot More Wiggleroom They Probably Wouldn't Have Otherwise.
