#i'm still so fucking used to queerbait that i forget
You know, every once in a while I forget that this isn't queerbait and I go "ayo?" about something, and then I remember that it is an explicitly queer show and I don't have to be like, "wow, the implications of that??" all the time.

been trying to wrap my head around the cancellation of "Our Flag Means Death" and why it hurts so fucking much. lots of folks who are much more eloquent than I have summed it up perfectly, but I still think it’s important I add my voice to the matter.
It really, really sucks that the hurt is being compounded on us every time another queer/minority-led show gets prematurely cancelled. and for a long while, we also had to deal with the many shows that deliberately queerbaited us, which was a shitty and traumatic experience unto its own. And even though we’ve largely surpassed that early-‘00s-flavoured brand of queerbait now, mainstream queer media is still predominantly white-led. With the cancellation of OFMD, we've lost one of the very few intersectional queer shows in the mainstream. Shouldn’t we be beyond asking for crumbs at this point? Shouldn’t we get unabashedly intersectional shows helmed by and starring queer, BIPOC, and trans folks without them being axed for no rhyme or reason?
It’s exhausting at this point, honestly. OFMD has done so well in terms of viewership and engagement and fan response—almost entirely due to word of mouth and little thanks to the Max marketing team, mind you—and even still the show got cancelled? Can they make it make sense????
For me, the thing most akin to this OFMD situation was when Sense8 got cancelled. And yes, the fandom fought, and we eventually DID get a movie that wrapped things up years later! That gives me hope for OFMD, that maybe another network will pick it up, or maybe they’ll be able to make a movie someday. But what makes me sad about cases like Sense8 is knowing that the creators still had to force the narrative around the amount of time they were given. That the corporate overlords who only care about numbers and profit dictated how much time they had to wrap up their story.
And it fucking kills me that DJ only wanted one more season. One more season to complete the vision.
I'm just so mad that queer people are constantly being jerked around and used for profit and then left high and dry. And then we're given excuses like "oh there's no budget" or "oh there's not enough viewership, that's all it is". like, sure, maybe those are contributing factors, but then I look at all the useless garbage shows that have little viewership and high budgets that keep going forever and then I think "hmmmm, the math ain't mathing." It's fucking transparent; the corporations can spew all they want with their rainbow capitalism and talks about diversity, but the evidence is clear, and they can't convince me homophobia/racism/transphobia/etc. is not a factor in these decisions.
Anyways, back to OFMD. OFMD made me fall in love with fandom again. I drifted away from fandom for a while in my 20s, and while OFMD wasn't the first fandom that drew me back into the madness, it's certainly the largest. The sheer amount of creativity both within the show and outside of it has blown me away; I've read some of the best fics, seen some of the best art, and witnessed some of the most incredible creativity from people in this fandom.
And let's not forget the role of the show's creators and how they've interacted with us fans. They made us feel seen. And made us feel loved and valid, even when we were being weird and loud and horny. It's so fucking rare to see that. But they understood; understood that the show they made was for us, for any of us who've been marginalized or made to feel Othered or different or stuck in life or unsure of our identities. And they gave us so much love for it.
The story... man. The unique combination of quirky humour and bright visuals and dark, introspective moments, the gorgeous costumes and soft, lovely, unabashed queerness, and veteran actors and new actors all getting to shine, brilliant comedic actors getting to show off their dramatic chops and vice versa. For me, seeing Rhys Darby - an actor I've loved for a long time, but who I never thought I'd see in a leading role - getting to be the romantic lead in a queer role? And seeing acclaimed director/producer/screenwriter/actor Taika Waititi play opposite Rhys, as an indigenous Blackbeard? Fucking incredible. OFMD Edward Teach you will always be famous to me.
Anyways... despite my long ramblings here, I still don’t think I've been able to get to the root of WHY exactly this show has inched its way under my skin and stayed with me in the way it has. Maybe I'll spend years trying to understand it. But I DO know that it's in part to do with seeing both older queers AND a diverse range of queerness onscreen, in a way that I've never seen in media before. I DO know that OFMD has forced me to look inwardly, and allowed me to realize some important things about myself. About my own queerness, my own identity, things I'm still figuring out. I've cherished being able to see myself in Stede, in Ed, and each of the crew members. In Roach’s love for cooking, in Oluwande’s ability to mediate; in Jim’s quick temper, in the way Izzy builds walls to guard his heart. In Buttons’ quirkiness, in Wee John’s sass, in Frenchie’s ability to turn pain into humour; in The Swede’s silliness, in Lucius’ bluntness, in Pete’s soft heart beneath the skepticism. Lastly, OFMD has inspired me. To create, to write, to draw, to devour other peoples' works and worlds while I sit in sheer, overflowing joyousness at their talent.
so yeah. the news of this cancellation is upsetting and hurtful and disappointing. And it's making us cry, and it's making us grieve, and may make us hollow and numb at times because we've lost yet another thing we love so deeply before it was meant to go. It's so much more than "just a TV show". It means more to us than any passive mindless idiotic mind-numbing bullshit - because even though there's a time and a place and a purpose for that type of media, it's the thought-provoking work, the work that creators pour their entire hearts and souls into, that hit us deep in our own souls. The work that changes our lives. The work that has the ability to save lives, as I know OFMD has done for so many.
please know I'm sending immense amounts of love and strength to those of you who are also hurting. we'll get through this, one way or another, and I'll keep up with the hope that we'll get more someday; but in the meantime, I'm holding you tight. ❤️️🫂

Please stop making us aces feeling guilty for feeling representated
CW - strong language because I'm pissed Honestly all these people telling that "you can headcanon Aziraphale and Crowley as you wish, dear, sure they can be asexual in your mind :)" but then they think that Aziraphale and Crowley have to fuck because they need to shock some bigots otherwise the representation is flawed are depressing me.
Like, fucking with some bigot heads is more important than telling a complex and nice story? And why would I, an asexual who takes so much confort watching them being in love and identified with them before even realising I was ace, why would I care if some people will only be half shocked because there's no gay sex? Why is my headcanon in my head while you speak like your headcanon is gonna be canon or definetly shoud be? And why do you want to make a point saying that I can't be representated because it would appeal bigots, forgetting that the ace community is always left behind and speaking like this you are telling us that we are not worthy of any representation. Sometimes representation is for the sake of it rather than for making people angry. Sometimes having a good time is enough. (And trust me people are still getting angry at GO even without the gay sex)
Fuck off bigots and everything. No representation should be a thick off of a list. If they fuck or don't needs to have sense in the story. And if they don't, don't be pissed like it was owed to you, because it wasn't. And if they do, good for them. Honestly this is so tiring, this is like a year ago when people told Neil Gaiman that the (second) series was queerbaiting before the series was even out.
It is simple, really: is it canon that they're ace? No. Is it canon that they're allo? No.
So you can headcanon them as you wish without making other people feeling guilty for their own headcanons.
(And tbh even if they had sex with each other I would still see them as aces because I never noticed them showing interest in other people or angels or demons. But still I can't see them having sex with each other either. I can be proven wrong in the next season obviously, as long as the story is legit and well-written and coherent, as it should be.)
Please if you comment or reblog be nice I'm a weak person

the dd fanfic writers slowly fading is SO SAD to watch. like in january i used to refresh the mattfoggy tag on ao3 like 3 times a day and there would be several new fics every time, now there’s only like 1 fic every two days :(
I KNOW RIGHT!! I watched season 1 of Daredevil when it first came out but dropped off between seasons because there were other marvel things I was more interested in but the fact is that the fandom was active for way longer back then! Even though there was a "Daredevil Renaissance" it was incredibly short-lived and it sucks
actually, I've had this rant prepared for a long time so I'm sorry anon but I'm going to take your ask and run with it. So one of the bigger topics of discussion in fan studies is the shelf life of fandoms. Generally speaking, the fandoms that last the longest are serialized works. The best examples are tv shows: star trek, superwholock, x-files, etc. Why is this? the generally accepted answer is that there is a perfect balance of content and no content. You watch the episode and then you think about it for a week until the next one airs and the cycle repeats. You go see a movie, you'll think about it for a week maybe watch it again but eventually, you run out of things to think about. The formula for fandom is frustration+passion, enough time without content is going to increase frustration and diminish passion. This is why Harry Potter still has a thriving fanbase, the books were a series and the movies were a series, there's a lot of passion in the potential and the nostalgia and a fuck ton of frustration. So now that tv is less serialization and more binging, there's way too much content with no time to process it, audiences can find neither frustration nor passion, they simply binge.
okay but Daredevil was originally released as a binging series why did the fandom have such a short shelf life the second time around? Well for one, it's a good show and there was a lot of time between seasons. but two, the original fanbase probably watched marvel movies but they didn't have the mcu mindset yet. The mcu is serialized, it releases things with enough time between to process it but not so much time that you forget it exists, this should be the perfect Petri dish for fandom, right? My working theory is that the mcu is trying to have the best of both worlds with transformative and affirmational fans. There's plenty of merch to collect and trivia to memorize, but there are also lots of character moments and missing scenes to expand on in fic. I mean they even try to queerbait fans, they don't do it well, but they try. The mcu is trying to create the fandom of tv shows and movie franchises and they have, but the fandom model they really should be replicating is comics. Comics fans usually just have their one character or team and then are loosely aware of other things happening in the larger universe for whenever there's a company-wide event (which use to be few and far between but that's a different rant). Because comics are serialized and the big favorite characters were always going to have a book, transformative comic fans were small but consistent. But because the mcu are movie adaptations, they simply can't function like comic fandom. If you're watching the mcu, your fav may show up in a movie for a minute and that'll jump-start the fandom, but it doesn't change the fact that they haven't had a story or development since their last thing.
The mcu is huge, but it is migratory within itself (a largely unique and unstudied phenomenon in fan studies). Mcu fans engage with the mcu like it's a tv show, always waiting for the next episode or season, but because they're really so unconnected, so are the fan works. (this is not a dig at phase 4, this is a dig at the mcu as a whole because it can't tell a complete story like a tv show or film franchise without having one director and a start and an END point. It wants to be a film franchise and a comic book run, but it can't be both.) There's too much content demand of the audience and it's weird that it's all connected. It's weird that I have to watch the iron man movies to understand what's going on in the spider-man movies, that's not how it is in the comics, you just read the spider-man comics and maybe Tony Stark shows up and there will be a little foot note directing you towards the important iron man issues, but you frankly don't need to read them. There's too much content and fans can't possibly be invested in all of it. It's like if you were watching Supernatural and after season 3 we had to watch a prequel about Cas and it's only until two season of that, that Dean gets brought back, you probably wouldn't remember why you cared about Dean in the first place. Like audiences can only reasonably be invested in a team of 3 to 7 heroes, you could maybe push it to 9 or 10, but frankly, 5 is the sweet spot. Having over a dozen heroes that all have dynamics and stories is too much for me as a fan to keep up with and frankly it's too much for directors and writers to keep up with. There's so much happening all the time and there are wildly conflicting tones and fans are expected to not only watch it but remember it!
The Daredevil renaissance was over the minute the thor love and thunder trailer dropped because mcu fans are not behaving like comic book fans—picking and choosing a fav to stick with—but like tv fans. Mcu stans are fans of marvel movies first and their fav second. But like if you're a Daredevil fan—someone who likes gritty street-level heroes that are very grounding in personal drama—I wouldn't recommend high-concept sci-fi like thor or wandavison, I'd maybe tell you to watch falcon and the winter soldier, spy movies are kinda like detective crime thrillers, but there's nothing to keep you engaged with everything at least not in a transformative way. Like this method of producing content is great for people that want to watch movies once or twice and move on, but if you're someone that likes analysis and creation, you going to get burned out fast.
the problem is that there is too much content and not enough at the same time. The release schedule for phases five and six is terrifying, that's way too many movies at once. Even if by some miracle they are all high quality in every aspect, fans will not have enough time to thoughtfully think about it, discuss it, make fan works, and make decide what they want next, etc because the next thing will already be there. Like it's not marvel's job to cultivate a fandom, they want as much money as possible so more projects mean more ticket sales because people aren't seeing these movies twice in theaters. It's a cash cow and a terrible way to make art and it's disrespectful to the comics and all the creatives involved in the project. But hey that's capitalism baby. If you are really taken with a movie or show and you want to make a fan work for it, you'll have to do it fast for people to see it because they're only checking the tag for a week max. On the other hand, there's not enough content. There is a huge Moon Knight fan base and they're probably not going to get more content till phase seven. The show was good, but not cult classic good, no one will be around to watch the next season unless they give Moon Knight a cameo in one of the next movies. But at some point that gimmick is going to get old especially if it's like the Matt Murdock cameo in no way home because like...he didn't do anything, he wasn't important to the plot, there's nothing new to work with here.
like listen, Matt's going to get some more fics once She-Hulk airs and once Echo airs and he gets his own show, and freshmen year happens. Wait a second we're back at the too much content problem. All these projects are happening at the same time people are going to have so much Matt, but unless he's got a compelling story that runs through all those shows and changes him as a character, he's just another set piece no different than the glowing sky beam. All these projects have different writers and directors, mcu matt won't be Netflix matt (like god come on, that "I'm a really good lawyer" line was fun at the moment but when has matt ever said something like that in the show?) Comic fans understand that your fav is going to go do a team-up with another character and it's probably going to be out of character because it's a different author, hell sometimes your fav just has a terrible run and you IGNORE IT. You pick and choose canon with comic fandom especially when you're writing fic and you only want the storylines that respect the character and tell meaningful stories. Mcu fans haven't figured out how to do that because they have to watch everything and like everything or otherwise they've waste years of their life on this franchise. And it's like...yeah you have, these movies are military ads with a CGI coat of paint, but like sometimes a bad movie is just a bad movie and you either write a fix-it fic or you ignore it. Disrespectfully I ignore the entire comic civil war arc because I hate it and it's boring and spits in the face of a lot of growth and characterization (also Nick Fury makes Susan and Johnny Storm go undercover as husband and wife and it's like what the fuck marvel)
and so yeah. Bascially my point is that the mcu is trying to be both a comic franchise and a movie franchise but it is impossible with the constraints of the mediums and they should just commit to making good content even if it means that there's less of it. They need to find a way to assure fans that not everything needs to connect in a big cosmic plan, but it can still connect in a shared universe that feels lived in. Like I don't need Ms. Marvel to team up with Thor and Jessica Jones to fight Galaticus. like just let there be different levels of heroes and fans should just pick their favorite and stick with that. This as much content as fast as possible model may be good for making money in the short term but this will likely exhaust fans, affirmative and transformative alike, and will probably mean an unresponsive fan base in the future and this will result in fewer fans that they have to squeeze more and more money out of with no new fans coming in because you have to watch almost two decades of content (oh wow they're closer to the comic industry than I thought lmao)
yeah these fandoms have an incredibly short shelf life because Marvel doesn't take risks with their storytelling, there is no frustration or passion, only bright colors and flashing lights. Fans don't have time to develop complete thoughts about a work that goes past "I liked it" or "I didn't like it" much less develop their own creative work in response to it. the reason the Daredevil renaissance was so fun was that not only were people discovering this character for the first time, they were going back to old fanworks as well as making their own. Read old fanworks more often, I promise they're still good. That original Daredevil fanbase had lots of content stretched out for a long period of time, they had time to sit with it and think about it and analyze and create about it. But the mcu fanbase does not allow that because there's always the shiny new toy and as a fan creative, it's discouraging knowing that if I just got this fic out a month earlier people would have cared. So you stop posting because suddenly there's no passion, only frustration.

stranger things season 4 spoilers
also the fucking way they were like "there will be deaths omg no one is safe this is the saddest season yet blah blah blah" only to then do what... they've... always done? kill off a character that was just introduced in that season, end on a cliffhanger... like, did they forget the demogorgon slug thingy will threw up at the end of season 1? they're always ended the show on a more serious note this is nothing new? the only thing that's changed is that the stakes are higher now. they killed bob at the end of season 2, they killed billy and alexei at the end of season 3, just so they could keep the main cast untouched. and max' "fake death", they already did that, too, with hopper. sure, this time it's a bit different like even if she wakes up she is very likely at the very least gonna be blind but still. god fucking damnit.
and i mean, i absolutely love eddie. like, he is easily one of my favorite fictional characters ever, and yes, i'm very mad they killed him off for various reasons. but also i don't think i'd be half as upset if he hadn't been the only one to die. not with how many deaths they've been teasing. but no, everyone gets to be safe except for eddie. the most predictable thing ever, and also the most useless one. fucking shit.
the funniest thing is, if it weren't for eddie i wouldn't have given stranger things a second chance. i used to love this show and then stopped watching somewhere in season 2 and genuinely didn't feel sorry about it when i saw everyone hating on season 3. but because i kept seeing eddie everywhere on social media, i gave the show another chance, sat through the train wreck that was most of season 3 only for him to die. and i know that so many other people feel similarly.
i can't believe season 4 started out so strongly only to fall apart in the last two episodes, not necessarily plot wise, just... everything else? they had so much time, too, 4 hours of content, and this is what they came up with? queerbaiting, killing off one of the most beloved characters in the most unfair way, another main cast death they chickened out of at the very last minute. hm. not every convinced y'all.

i weathered the storm of idiot queerbait shouting destiel shippers accusing berens of qb for years or calling fellow shippers delusional for pointing out he was doing what he was doing
i weathered the storm of interviewers and low paygrade crew workers arguing with me about things that they wiped out and ended up wrong in.
I'm gonna weather the storm of 2p0 imploding in front of the entire world, no matter what shit he slings. Time'll bring it around in a hell of a way, sweetheart.
and i think you're getting it. There's a reason you adjusted from "no cas" to "a little cas". you're starting to either get why i'm so confident or get slow drips of actual information, not that it's hard to see at this point, so probably the first.
your followers are getting it too. you're all just restless because you know the best you have is causing divisions in this fandom, forgetting that in a few weeks, alllll this hard drama work of yours is gonna go numb when a few million new fans watch the new show for the new actors with their new followings and they're just gonna. walk into me being right. and you being called out as an idiot at that point. even by your own. so i mean. cest la vie dude keep going, burn yourself off the map harder. it's on delay but you know me, i love a good slow burn.
please dude keep getting louder. Even if you think you're successfully dragging me you're just setting yourself up for the biggest fandom reputation suicide ever and mine, well. You know. See saw. It'll all work out sweetie, and you're feeling it now, aren't you? You're feeling the burn. The louder you get the more your titanic idiotic failure will be known, your manipulation, your cluelessness, your cheap fortune cookie reads, all of it, and guess what'll happen when this all swings around sweetie
if you think otherwise, come on sweet cheeks. Been saying for 2 days we can repeat you wasting 5K again if you wanna play bets on direction. do i seem as confident as the market testing, or beren's intent, or the original roadhouse ending, or that there were omissions, or that the pilot script was real, all of which you blindly screamed against? You feeling that shit yet? You feel your pants on fire, you goddamn liar? That's my blowtorch up it. 5K or take your roast like a fucking adult. pull them pants of yours up and figure out what the fuck is happening here kid
Wish you luck, but you're not bringing us down.
youtube
It's a Supernatural love story. - the posters
Their Bond IS Supernatural. - the promos, even intentionally divided for the eye catch at THEIR BOND for suggestion because
one might even call it profound
it's the whole setup you goddamn fucking single braincell amoebas its RIGHT ON THE FUCKING TIN durhurhurhurhurhurhur john is like dean hyuk hyuk gee whats this father at the end of the road thing gee why is their romance important why lots of glowy blue caslights before sam omg why this huge gay rep empire. everyone logs into this fandom and instantly quarters their intelligence to pretend they can't figure it out. It's being marketed as EXACTLY what it fucking is. Cas before sam for a reason, dudes lmfao this isnt rocket science you bonafide dumbfucks. you can scream and shit your pants the whole way down but it's still over dude. at the end of the day, you're the one stinking sitting in your own shit. won't hurt us none.

Looking back, nobody quite gaybaited us like BBC shows used to
no but for real i don't think people who throw the word queerbaiting around really were here in the late 00s and early 10s to see the absolute bullshit we got.
like i still think about the Merlin's finale's showrunner commentary saying like 5 times "oh yeah it's clearly a love story between Merlin and Arthur" like are we jokes to you. are we.
Sherlock was also constantly making bait, but tbf i rejected Sherlock from my memories real bad bc i didn't even like the first few seasons to start with (#hipster #hateditbeforeitwascool)
and not BBC but i'm a supernatural veteran. You get so used to be told that it's just crazy shipper stuff that you forget sometimes how stuff were like. There. Like after Nov 5th i was hysterical they at least made it one sided-canon, but also i found it really funny. .... and then i accidentally found a video compiling stuff from the early seasons and some lines STILL fuck me up ("sorry but i'd rather have you, cursed or not" insane insane insane, "i'm hunted, i've rebelled, and i've done all of this for you", “Not for nothing, but the last time someone looked at me like that…I got laid.” WHO WRITE THOSE THINGS. the greatest queerbait of all time.) and then i just got insanely sad that this was the conclusion after 12 years.
i think also like, old queerbait shows used to make so many jokes about those too. So on one hand it was making fun of the fans but also it was like. here? like sorry i'm supposed to be normal after "Sorry, you have me confused with the other angel. You know, the one in the dirty trench coat who's in love with you." im going to chew glass. Nowadays respectable shows wouldn't write those lines unless they actually build up for something!!!
truly. what an era. I never want to see it again. But can't say it didn't scratch a specific inch similar to slow burns that make me go " 'k thanks series we'll take it over from here"
i lost my point somewhere. But yeah. God. The 00s/10s. What a time.

Kingdom Hearts - 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 19, 22, 23, 25, 26, 27.
1. Axel/Roxas (ew), Terra/Ven (even worse), and Eraqus/Xehanort (I do get why it *would* be shipped given recent canon but I'm sorry, the bald old fucker straight up cold-bloodedly murdered his BF without one iota of remorse, and I refuse to forget and forgive.) 2. Obviously Sora/Riku (unless there's a polycule with Kairi and others involved), but I also feel this for Roxas/Xion and Riku/Namine. 3. I think I might've back in 2019, when KH3 was new. 4. The pedo ships I mentioned in 1. 5. Kind of with Sora/Riku, but that typical immature yaoi fangirl stuff was actually a MILD turnoff compared to the actual queerbaiting that the actual canon went on to do with them. 7. Virtually EVERYTHING in the KH series I left behind. 9. The Foretellers and Yozora, the harbingers of unsalvagable doom for the franchise. 10. Melody of Memory. Yeah, I didn't think getting worse than Dream Drop Distance was possible, but they fucking went there and it sealed the franchise’s coffin shut. 11. Some of the more secondary Disney characters like Jiminy Cricket and Pete aren't particularly popular in the fandom, but I love them. Also, Ariel and the whole cast of Atlantica (save for maybe King Triton, KH2 did sort of ruin him.) 12. I think I like and appreciate BBS 0.2 more than most, even if Mickey's appearance sent it totally off the rails. 13. Game canon!Xion is like a lump of clay who was molded pretty well in her debut game but is just a total nonentity elsewhere. (Manga!Xion, meanwhile, is a goddess tier force of nature unto herself and so she needs to be the template than any good fanon Xion needs to use and derive from.) 14. The KH faithful are all in an abusive or at least masochistic relationship with Nomura and his work, and I pity them. 15. Shiro Amano is 10 times the writer for KH material than Tomoco Kanemaki, Masaru Oka, and Tetsuya Nomura will ever be, and that is the straight up TRUTH. 16. The entire direction of the franchise following the game we know as Birth By Sleep's release. 17. See above, and even before that point I did whole posts about how I'd change 358/2 Days, fix some lesser points in the original three games (the climax fallout in KH1, Riku’s mode in CoM, the second go-round of worlds in KH2), and further expand Organization XIII's presence in KH2 FM. 19. The canon purists who actually like and accept what been done to the series narrative and insist that it all makes sense when played and looked at chronologically even when no, it does not. 22. Post-3D Riku, Post358/2 Days Roxas, Lea, and the young versions of Eraqus and Xehanort (who aren't even particularly pleasant characters as men to begin with!) 23. Kairi, I guess? I dislike the iteration of her character we have now, but I'd still defend her in KH1 and KH2 from anyone who for whatever reason thinks she was worthless and unlikable even back then. 25. Nooooooo, too easy. It's too easy. 26. Xion, 'cause she'd not feel limited by gender. 27. Luxu. With the direction canon took his character in, he's one where any relationship he could ever had is doomed to not last and he will know only heartbreak and heartache forever.

Men ≠ Top
Women ≠ Bottom
This can be interpreted in two different ways;
There DOES NOT have to be a "man" and a "woman" in a relationship, you can be two subs and still be perfectly fine. No one HAS to take on a more masculine character/role, if the relationship works like that then fine but all I'm saying is that there doesn't have to be set roles in a relationship whether it be irl or in a fanfic.
TALL MEN CAN BOTTOM AND I STAND BY THIS. WOMEN CAN TOP AND STILL GET FUCKED THAT IS WHY DOM AND SUB EXIST BECAUSE NOT EVERYONE IS THE SAME. I hate the weird rule where "the tall person is the top" or "you can't be cute if you top" PLEASE💀The bottom in a fanfic doesn't always have to be a femboy who never learned what sex was, get that outta you head please. Being a bottom doesn't mean you're an innocent flower who cries over spilt milk. What's that one manhwa term, white lotus? White lily? THAT. LOOK THAT UP AND YOU'LL KNOW WHAT I MEAN. REMINDER, There is nothing wrong with being a femboy or whatever I'm just saying that there shouldn't be specific standards for what a relationship is. YOU COULD LOOK LIKE HUNNI FROM OHSHC AND STILL HAVE A BIG DICK AND TOP THE SHIT OUT OF YOUR S/O.
In conclusion, stereotypes suck. Real. Bad.

They're not building to buddie happening. Buddie is not happening. Buddie is a crack ship. The creators have repeatedly said nothing about buddie is intended to be romantic. And you wanting Buck to toss aside his canon female love interest for a man when it's never even been confirmed he's interested in men, wanting Taylor to essentially be a placeholder and there solely to emotionally support Buck until he doesn't want her anymore, is misogynist. Get some therapy.
I specifically said I don't want Buck to toss aside Taylor, but I think your comprehension skills are just bad, huh, Nonnie?
In my other post [here], I said I don't want the writers to forget Taylor once her "purpose" is completed. Purpose with quotation marks Nonnie, which I think you missed just as much as you've missed the obvious build-up of Buddie, which is (hoo-boy I can't believe I have to say this) not a crack ship! Buddie is a real, deliberate ship, fighting the queerbait-industry that Hollywood has become in general, and if you can't see that that's on you. Don't believe Buddie is actually going to be real still? Don't believe that the creators/actors are okay with Buddie? Then check these out:
Oliver Stark telling off a person for saying homophobic shit.
Meta by the amazing @matan4il who keeps on giving incredible metas to this fandom: Buck and Eddie's Dating Parallels (and many, many more but you know what Nonnie? I think I've given you enough reading material as it is).
Eddie Diaz' very real Queer Awakening (and Buck's future Awakening/Might already be aware) by @yramesoruniverse
By @kitkatpancakestack: Eddie's Storyline | Buck's Storyline | The Buckley-Diaz Relationship told only in quotes said by Buck and Eddie and Chris signifying the importance of each other in their lives | Buck and Eddie are TOTALLY not meant to be lovers no what do you mean (they totally are tho)
If you don't want to have them become canon, maybe check your homophobia, Karen. Maybe even go to therapy, take your own advice.
As for Taylor being there to "only" emotionally support Buck. Nope, that's not it, Nonnie. Buck has his FireFam + Maddie to emotionally support him. I don't think he needs Taylor for that. His relationship with Taylor isn't even based on needs; it's based on wants. Buck wants someone to come home to, and that for now, is Taylor. Taylor wants Buck, as simple as that, (also because her most shown traits are her being an absent girlfriend and being more into her career, I don't really know much about her wants) and she has him. But is this love? Is this being in love? Nope. Not at all. This is a journey for both of them, and I can only hope that their destination is to being a better version of themselves.
Remember Abby, Nonnie? From S1? Would you say that whole arc was biased against Buck, given that Abby "used" Buck to reach her emotional epiphany? Because she left him, didn't she? She left him to find herself, and so what would you say happened here, Nonnie? Was Buck a placeholder here?
Similarly, let's see another S1 arc: Athena and Michael. Michael also "used" Athena according to you, didn't he? Used Athena as a placeholder? But what is it he really did? He came out as his true self. He finally felt ready to admit it to his family, to his closed ones, that he is something other than what he previously thought he was. That he made others think of him as. We don't know when he admitted it to himself, but we do know that Athena took some time to really digest that—that her husband of over 20 years is gay. And that's valid as fuck. She can take all the time to take that in, because she was in love with someone for two decades and she still didn't have all the pieces of him. But now? Fast forward five years later? Athena and Michael are good friends. They're family still.
What I'm getting at is this, Nonnie: Taylor is not a placeholder. Taylor is not a goddamn prop. I don't want her to be one, not like Ana Flores clearly was (and haven't you asked yourself Nonnie, why that break-up happened? Eddie figuring himself out is why). Taylor is there in Buck's life and it literally has nothing to do with her when Buck figures out he loves Eddie. Buck likes Taylor, they're together, maybe he even loves her, but maybe, just maybe, it's the kind of love that makes them good friends and not lovers. Like Athena and Michael.
This show is literally about finding who you are, and moving on in life. Buck and Eddie not yet knowing they like men (or are in love with each other) is just another journey waiting to happen, Nonnie, and I feel sorry for you because you can't see that Eddie has already started on his.

so 2521 team really did that cliffhanger and expect me (us) to go on our days completely sane?????????????? ??????? when I am trying so hard into not reading their relationship as romantic????? convincing myself that they're just an example of a hetero wholesome relationship???? ??????? i actually succeeded quite well...ahemmm. Indeed, their relationship is very wholesome and btw a loud shout-out to yijin for not making things weird that would make things kind of creepy. i've seen it happen in age gap kdramas👀 and heedo i'm sorry if i am not taking your crush on yijin very seriously. it's cute but your bond with him is much more more more more special <3 kinda jealous ngl
..........👀 not to sound like a very much super gay person who projects on pieces of media on main but heedo and yurim is really going all out with their lesbianisms. the full extent of their LGBTQIA+ power! wew you go girls!!!! I think the majority of this episode is dedicated to the kinda alternate universe of 2521 where it is a lesbian coming-of-age drama and the leads are starting to come out from their rival era and gradually inching to the long-awaited lovers period. is this queerbaiting...or am i just projecting? my brother who is watching over my shoulder told me there's nothing to be giddy about in the whole lovery-dovey documentary shoots.... lollll
however, our favorite hetero couple would not permit their moments be outshined by the sword-wielding bisexuals whose one half of the latter duo is ironically also the other half of my favorite hetero couple. wowwwww a screaming shout-out that can still be heard in outer space to the 2521 team, especially to the screenwriters who wrote this drama!!!! you ma'ams and sirs deserve a kiss on the mouth, platonically of course. i am in aweeeee of the main lead's dynamics. there is no gaudy love triangle involved! (except the one that i've created in my head; a bisexual loves both girl and boy and the girl she loves also loves (?) a himbo and the himbo loves her in return and also his bestie who is with him since birth and the bestie respects the first bisexual's boy and the main boy loves them all btw. wow i don't trust my mind) a very organic webs of relationships! legitimate friendship! besties forever! ohhhhhh the next episode will be so much funnnnn!!!! focusing the spotlight again on my favorite hetero pair, heedo and yijin's relationships in this episode is slowly blurring the line.....however, it is done in a way that feels very natural. and cute. don't forget the cute that i have to pause the video to scream my lungs out or to slap the table like i'm in a rowdy bar to bet on something or someone. poor table and poor lungs but for yido i would destroy😞
---"You said to had to have me and I was wondering how." 😆😆😆😆😆 banger #1
---"Don't you have any faith in me?" "What am I to you?" "Have faith in me" bangers # 2, 3, and 4 but also yoooooo yijin's lines remind me of the questionable tv and radio dramas that I grew up watching and listening😆in which that lines are usually uttered by an unrepentant fuckboy who is deceiving yet another innocent victim in the game of love or a main male lead who is promising his lady love of being faithful to her always wherever he goes ksdjlkjslkgjdlksjg
---"Don't avoid me again, I won't forgive you"
"I guess you hated it."
"The word "hate" doesn't even begin to describe it"
hall of fame #3667 in the 2521 investigation department for making my mind drown with thousands of theories🤡 who left who? who left first? who's the "heartbreaker"? what the fuck actually happened???? lots of question markssssssssssss
---when he said "her left side"sososososo quickly👀 keeping an eye on her more than often, bro? memorizing her face? just in case? you leave? for good?
---the "look at me" one 🥺
---the heedo living in yijin's head rent free exhibit #3
---their moments in heedo's living room 😍🔫 won't start thinking of the logistics of their relationships now when heedo is even more confused and yijin is of no help. not that i want him to help though. the responses he's been giving is perfect until he said that damning "It's love. I love you, heedo. I don't need a rainbow." asfadsfgsadjhasbdbajshvdja jfshjgah😍😍😍👀🤡💀😭😬🤩💕❣ i don't fucking know what to do with myself that i called out lord many times!!!! lord or whoever is in charge in the sky must have crossed out the tally under my name several times and said "this girl seems to be excited of being reunited with her creator once again" i know this is so christian of me, i'm sorry non-christian or atheist citizens of the world. if it helps, i only draw on the religious teachings for non-religious purposes most of the time, if not always 😂
--- the color grading in that last scene in this ep is so pretty!!!! i suddenly remembered the near-death scene in the Black Butler live-action film. loooooordddddddddd. and yijin have to say that "you have a knack for leading me to a good place" and not expect me to interpret this as a death foreshadowing. hello? it's called rest in peace for a reason💀 nonetheless, the yijin is still alive in 2022 agenda is still solid in my mind but i am also open to possible...... realities👀💀
---"you made me do what was right for a reporter to do"👀 uhmmm....is this....it? heedo committed something realllllllly bad that yijin must report it? ???????? ????????
---the feral yijin mode when heedo was injured?????? (top notch! one of my favorite tropes everrrrr!!!!!) 🥺 that he went up against the producer?! not going to lie, i am expecting a "you're fired" or you're out" line from the producer but I guess i just had too much melodramatic and frankly exaggerated mexican and spanish and sometimes indian dramas😭. Him insisting that they must go to the hospital? them riding together in that red sports car again? natural wonders of or world #9832
diverting from my favorite homo and hetero duos, this episode shows why i don't hate yurim. i remembered writing that "i feel for her" in episode 7 and i still stand by that. she is relatable...to me... to the children who are raised as a member of an economically-challenged household. who have learned to ignore their wants because the money is to be used for something more important. to strive harder because failing is never an option. not when you don't have any fallbacks. it's like that when you're a poor girl btw guys in case i am reading opinions from rich people. middle-class counts as rich😡 of course her emotional outburst is not really acceptable but at this point i'm becoming more of a yurim apologist so i won't elaborate...... and feeling for yurim doesn't equate to disliking heedo or not sympathizing with heedo. our society grew past the need for looking at things from a binary glass. unless i tell it so.
yurim's mother......wow i am such a judgemental bitch when I WAS READY TO THROW HANDS WHEN SHE ASKED HEEDO IF SHE WAS THE ONE WHO BEAT HER DAUGHTER AND TOOK THE GOLD AND WHEN SHE SUDDENLY HUGGED HEEDO I FELT LIKE A STRAY CAT WHO'S BEEN TREATED WITH LOVE AFTER A LONG TIME!!! AHHHHHHHH😭 mrs. ko adopt heedo pleassseeee and ms. shin would just send the child support.....loll....just kidding....unless??? yes, so they showed ms. shin with that kinda undignified pose as an act of making amends with her daughter...whatever she's still in my hitlist🙄🙄🙄
Presently, i am very much tempted to try divination in knowing what is the ending but i have to stop myself. maybe tomorrow i'll run 2521's natal chart😭😭😭 or do tarot. i actually already tried shufflemancy which has been mostly accurate for me. i asked if yijin and heedo's married currently btw and the songs are positive. but idk it's for a show and it's not my energy so i won't put a significant weight on it😭 if u read this part, no u did not

andrew, hi, i'm SO MAD. like. i just saw someone on tiktok (that fucking app) saying that yuri!!! on ice is queerbait and i'm ?????? DID YOU WATCH THE FUCKING ANIME??? AND YOU'RE TELLING ME IS QUEERBAIT??? WHAT? ONLY BECAUSE THEY DIDN'T KISS?? i hate it when people only validate couples if they kiss that's so terrible like oh my god yuri and viktor literally get engaged AND IT'S QUEERBAIT???? fuck off
Yeah. I just....wish some buzzwords would die because people use them without any actual meaning behind them (romanticize is another one I could do without).
Don't get me wrong, queerbaiting is absolutely a thing and it's wrong and it renders queerness invisible in mainstream media. But I think people sometimes forget that not every country is western, and some countries have strict decency laws in effect that prevent certain things from being confirmed on TV. They have to maintain 'plausible deniability' if you will. So while sure, we never got a direct ' I'm gay and I'm with him' with a visible round of tongue wrestling, they're missing the entirety of what makes YOI so good if they can say with their whole chest that it's queerbaiting.
Yuri says he loves Victor multiple times. He has a whole revelation where he realizes Victor isn't a god. He's not perfect and Yuri says 'And I still love him.' That person is missing so much nuance just in the way they react to touches and looks and the fact that yes, that was a kiss, and yes Victor did that in front of cameras and family and friends.
People are entitled to their own opinions and if watching someone with more queerness on display is what they prefer, then sure. But let's not tack labels onto things before taking the time to read the subtext. -A

i'm on a complete neutral side when it comes to seamoon. i don't mind its popularity nor its fans, hell i respect the ship because you're right! there IS a lack of w|w rep out there! to me, any w|w rep means i auto support. but i still fear how some of its shippers might attack me if i say i ship sea fairy with a different female cookie (anxiety kicking in lol). and it's also bc seamoon isn't really my cup of tea for some reason?? but that doesn't mean it's lesbophobic lol bc i have like, a ton of other w|w ships from cr (and other franchises) i personally love. it's just that seamoon, like any other ship out there, ended up becoming one of those i don't really vibe with but still respect and acknowledge it exists. but honestly, of all the ships in cr, seamoon will most likely be a canon thing sooner or later. personally, respecting heavily implied w|w ships are enough for me, tho i kinda understand how some ppl would wish for more than just acknowledgement. hope this ask isn't too much of a bother for you, i just feel like putting my thoughts here! please have a nice day or night!
oo ok so ur completely valid! actually i dont personally have a problem with ppl who ship sea or moon with other female or nonbinary cookies as long as they dont shit on seamoon.
honestly? its super fucked up to attack others for that, if u dont personally like seamoon but dont ship them with men then im chill cause like not everyone has to like it even if its canon or has the best chance to be canon! the point of protecting seamoon is because as u said the lack of wlw and the fact that media keeps queerbaiting shit like seamoon were its so obvious that the characters are gay but they dont outright state it ir make them make out on screen so other ppl can pretend they arent, if u acknowledge their lesbians and ship them with othwr women then ur fine completely!! seamoon shippers who attack others based off that r being disrespectful and using seamoon to bring down others, their the reason nonshippers think we're crazy imo, now if someone has seamoon as a comfort ship and doesn't want them separated thats fine but as long as ppl respect the wlw woth ships they can do what they want, within reason of course.
the biggest issue for us is people genuinely see moon or sea as bi or straight and i dont think they understand that while YES just because they love a women canonly doesnt mean they can't be bi or pan the issue is ppl deny the queerness is even there or call it onesided, this is coming from a person who does loath how fandom forgets ppl can like all genders but we NEED to establish the wlw before the wlm in this case because there are plenty of wlm female characters in media but only a handful of canon wlw and the fact seamoon is so obvious yet ppl ignore it means we have to be pushy and put our foot down on shipping either, ESPECIALLY sea, with men.
also ur no bother at all! giving ur insight is fine i like talkign to ppl about why certain discourse sucks and seeing new opinions, at the end of the day my opinion is this.
lesbains are constantly erased or used as sex objects in media, the fact that this kids game has 2 of its most important characters as 2 women in love is important, acknowledging their love is important because its rlly quite blantent imo and NOT SEXUALIZED, shipping either with men perpetuates that clear lesbian coding doesnt matter because girls need a man ir women loving eachotheris somehow creepy, do not do this even with bi or pan hcs do not, there are OVER A HUNDRED cookies its not thathard to make characters like princess or croissant or blackberry mspec so why do u feel the need to take away the two wlw ppl who are the most close to canon?
ppl generally forget how much lesbian eraser there is out there and seeing how some of yall treat seas love for mooncalling it onesided or creepy just because ppl cant understand what pining is id say those ppl dont actually care about representation for wlw if they find ppl wanting the HEAVY coding to be respected too annoying.
now all this being said i again want to make it clear, i dont condone harrassment, and i definitely dont candone threats of any kind, seamoon fans CAN be toxic i know, but those ppl do not devaule the center point, if ur soured on the ship cause of that thats fine ship them with other nonbinary or lesbain cookies or not ship them at all ur in the clear to do that but do NOT take that as a queue to be like fuck the lesbains and ship them with men, i do not care how much fire wants moon in his pants hes bi shes not end of story.

I've been following this blog for a few years now and I was one of the people who after Cas' love confession said "don't accept the breadcrumbs" but this still hurts. I don't know how other people feel but I cannot see destiel as canon, not when Cas was the only one to confess and Dean never mentioned it again. They don't get to feel happy like they did something, they buried their gays and I will NEVER forgive them for it. And to add insult to injury Dean dies by a freakin nail! I'm devastated.
Hi, Nonnie! To me, Destiel was canon since a very long time ago and it will always be, no matter how much they screwed over Dean’s character in the last minutes of 15x19 and in 15x20.
It’s impossible to eliminate all the evidence that Dean felt the same way for Cas. He was PINING for someone and guess what? We were NEVER told who that someone was. Fuck Supernatural! Like for real!!
If they made it textual that Cas loved Dean, and we had been saying that for years, then we are also right about the feelings Dean has had for Cas for a very long time. So that’s what I’m taking from this.
However, I understand that it was NOT enough. I understand they queerbaited us and gave us only crumbs. I understand they used us. I understand they disrespected us, and Misha, and Jensen, and Dean, and Cas (as separate characters) and Destiel (as a valid romantic ship). I understand all that and I will neither forgive nor forget that.
I’m just trying to cope in the best way I can... by knowing that subtext is part of a story and that now the show is over, the characters are finally free to live in my head in the way I choose them to be. I just feel sorry that Supernatural could have been great and chose to ruin their legacy.

Bro I was so pissed when I saw what Billie said. Like bitch you fucked up, apology and shut up about it.
"where's that energy with men?" bitch? Men don't have gay rumours and being blamed for queerbaiting? Harry for fuck sake has never said he's straight, always hints his sexuality, screams (but daddy I love him. You don't know until you try...) and they literally hate him for "queerbaiting". You fucker on the other hand went and said "I'm straaaaight as a ruler" and then when ppl commented on you queerbaiting what do you go and do? Taking it to the limit and say "I like girls" then everyone forgets about it, and you come back throwing a "who cares?" about your sexuality on our faces as if we don't know how PR works? as if we don't know you said that to justify yourself? ..... Sorry but I'm so pissed about it... You don't say you are straight with such a tone as she did (I still remember that video she said she's straight as if it was a bad thing ppl asked if she's not🙄) then come back with all those bullshits. The fucking nerve... A whole us community tells you what they feel about your actions and you act like that. Didn't she do the same when they call some of her actions racist?
i think what makes me angry is that people defend her actions and words like she’s some victim. like no, she’s an adult and a filthy rich white woman who feels so entitled that she just doesn’t see anything wrong with what she’s doing like it’s not hurtful. eat asphalt bullie eyelash <3

Wait, so I'm confused, do you hate RT or not? Like you blog about them constantly, but also you seem to take very serious issue with them (mainly that thing about the editor work review)
This is a pretty loaded question. I love RT with all my heart, I really do. It’s been my main source of entertainment for years, and it’s how I met almost all of my internet friends. If you take a look around my room, it is literally plastered with RT posters and half my closet is RT shirts. Really, my blog is dedicated to it. So yeah, I like RT.
However, they make plenty of choices I don’t agree with. We’ve all seen the drama surrounding Kathleen, Shane, and RWBY. The common thread between all of them is how RT treats its people. Employees seem overworked and management seems incompetent. There isn’t much thought put into the people, which frankly, bothers me. When looking at other reviews of RT on Glass Door (the site that original work review was from), they all pretty much say the same thing. It’s a fun place to work but there’s no room for career growth and you’re always overworked. There is no paid overtime despite how many hours the animators are working. Another review on Glass Door said that “people would pay to mop our floors,” and its true. I bet there are some fans out there that would absolutely do it. However that doesn’t excuse the fact that their actual employees should be compensated for the work they do. Not everyone is Monty Oum and can sit in front of a computer and animate for 80 hours a week, and that’s not a bad thing. Just because some of your employees are young and starstruck to be working at RT doesn’t mean they should be allowed to take advantage of them by underpaying and overworking them.
In addition to the way they treat their employees, I also don’t like the queerbaiting within RWBY. From promising us there would be LGBT characters from almost the day the show started coming out, to now, 5 years later, there has not been a single character revealed to be LGBT. Nothing. Not even in the background of the dance. They could have casually had boys dancing with boys, girls dancing with girls. Whatever. Instead, every time the question is brought up now, Miles hides behind his cover of not being comfortable with writing relationships, despite Jaune/Pyrrha and Nora/Ren both pretty much being canon by the end of volume 4. Its frankly disgusting and honestly only the tip of the iceberg for the list of problems I have with RWBY. However, that doesn’t mean I don’t love the show. I still will watch it and enjoy the parts I can.
I also despise RTs strategy of just letting everything blow over. RT is literally allergic to giving a statement in regards to anything controversial surrounding it. And you know what the worst part is? It totally fucking works. Eventually, people forget about the discourse and it all gets swept under the rug. Burnie has even talked about it on the RT podcast before (when the Fine Brothers were going through that React World thing). From a business standpoint, its a great idea. However, as a fan, that really fucking sucks. I want to hear a “sorry” from them every once in a while or an acknowledgement of things they have screwed up. Even this year, I’ve heard RTX was a shitshow. Ticket prices are higher than even some of the most popular conventions. Lines are unbearably long (to the point where some people were having medical problems). Some people waited almost the entire day on Friday to get their badges. However, we’ve heard nothing from RT apologizing for how the convention was run this year and I doubt we ever will.
Don’t idolize the things you love. Don’t put them up on a pedestal. Don’t think that they can literally do no wrong. RT is a company made up of human beings, who screw up just like you and me. They’ve messed up before and they certainly will again. When they do fuck it up, it’s our responsibility to call them out on it.
