What is Heretic Emmett's deal with Giratina? Is Giratina just like 'hey let me see what you have happening in Unova?' or is it something more sinister?
Oops, my hand slipped---
Sorry for the wait, but i felt compelled to write something in place of a short answer. I hope you like it!
Tw for Giratina being a bit mentally invasive and for discussion of loss of bodily autonomy.
------------
Emmet was definitely dreaming. That was the only explanation for what was going on with his bathroom mirror.
Instead of showing his reflection, like mirrors were supposed to do, there was a vast chasm. It was filled with floating landmasses unbound by gravity, covered in trees growing directionlessly with no sun to orient themselves by. The dark blue sky swirled with bright purple clouds. It hurt Emmet's eyes to look at.
The surreal cherry on top of all this was Giratina, who was staring at him from the other side of the mirror.
"I am Emmet. I would like to wake up now."
Negation. Stationary. Existent. Consciousness.
Emmet clutched his head as thoughts that weren't his own assaulted his mind. They were loud. Wordless but full of meaning. He tried to put words to the formless thoughts, and something clicked.
"I am Emmet. Are you trying to tell me I am awake?"
Affirmation. Stationary. Urgent.
"Fine. I will not leave. Yup! Staying right here."
Gratitude. Relief.
Emmet winced at the growing pressure. "Can you speak any verbal languages? If we continue like this, I will derail shortly."
Giratina tilted his head at Emmet and rumbled pensively. His response was quieter than before.
Attempt. Connection. Learn. Communication.
Emmet had to take a minute to parse that statement. "You want to learn Galarian through me?"
Giratina nodded.
"How?"
The moment he asked the question, Emmet felt an urge to touch the mirror. Emmet slowly brought his hand up to the glass. It felt exactly how a mirror should feel despite the fact that it was currently being used like some cross-dimensional zoom call. If he closed his eyes, he could imagine that there was nothing on the other side.
Permission.
"Granted."
Emmet braced himself for the painful pressure that he associated with Giratina's 'voice', but it never came. Instead, he was overcome by an opressive feeling of being watched. Giratinas's eyes seemed to bore into his, and Emmet dropped his head to stare at the sink. It didn’t help. Belatedly, Emmet realized he was still in his pajamas. He traced the cartoon trains on his sleeve with his eyes while he waited for Giratina to finish whatever it was that he was doing.
After what could have been hours or minutes, the feeling of being a bug under a microscope faded away. Emmet's arm fell to his side. He looked up again, but he couldn’t bring himself to make eye contact.
"I am Giratina. I am sorry I caused you discomfort." The voice was deep and rumbling, exactly what you would imagine coming from something so large. There was something familiar about the intonation, though. Perhaps Giratina picked up Emmet’s manner of speech while rooting through his head.
"It is-" Emmet cut himself off before he could dismiss his discomfort. Ingo had always told him to stand up for himself more. "It is not fine. But if this is important, it might be acceptable. What do you want?"
"I need your help. And I believe I can help you in return." Giratina’s body language was unreadable, but Emmet might have heard a hint of remorse in his voice. It was hard to pick up on, but Emmet knew his own way of speaking. At the very least, he wasn't lying, and there was only one thing Emmet needed help with.
"You know where to find my brother?" Emmet could have rivalled Ingo’s inside voice as he leaned forward on the rim of the sink.
"Yes. I met your brother, once. He was in Sinnoh, three centuries ago."
"Giratina. Is my brother dead?" Emmet’s hands shook. He gripped the sink so hard he feared it would crack.
"I do not know. I was… out of commission shortly after I saw him. By the time I woke up, he was gone. But I know who would know. When I met your brother, his body was being inhabited by Arceus."
"What do you mean inhabited? What did Arceus do to him?"
"Arceus and Ingo were both conductors in Ingo’s body. From what I saw, the coupling was accidental. Ingo retained control most of the time, but when I faced Arceus, Ingo was merely a passenger."
Emmet let loose a sigh of relief. What Giratina told him was distressing, but it certainly could have been worse. Even with the issue of time travel, Arceus’ involvement meant there might be a chance to return Ingo to his proper time.
"So we need Arceus to get my brother back," Emmet concluded. "And you will help me. What are you getting out of this?"
"Human legends say that I am locked in the Distortion World as punishment. But that was not always the case. I was created to take care of this plane. But I resented this task." Giratina paused and looked away. Emmet would almost say he looked like he was trying to make himself smaller. "I allied myself with a human in a plot to rebel against Arceus. Ever since then, my domain has become my prison."
"You want me to fight Arceus for you?" Emmet asked. He did not want to fight a god, but if he had to for Ingo, he would.
"No. I want you to help me apologize."
"...Ah." Giratina wanted family counseling. Emmet didn’t know if he should feel underwhelmed or relieved.
"If this task is too much for you. I will be content if you let me experience your world through your eyes. However, if I do not reconcile with Arceus, getting your brother back will become verrry difficult."
Emmet let a hysterical laugh slip from his lips at hearing his own verbal tic coming from a legendary pokemon.
"I am Emmet. I think I need to sit down."
"Take your time. I can wait."
Emmet considered his options. This seemed good. Too good. Help from a legendary was invaluable, especially considering Ingo was displaced through time. On the other hand, Emmet couldn’t believe how easy it sounded.
"You mentioned 'experiencing my world'. What does that mean?"
"In order for us to help each other, we must establish a sort of connection. It is similar to the one Arceus made with your brother. But Theirs was accidental. Ours would be purposeful. If you allow it, I will be able to use your body like my own. We will be co-conductors in your train. In return, you will have my aid and my power."
Emmet was silent for a long time. A direct connection to a legendary? The world had its fair share of megalomaniacs who would jump on such a chance, but Emmet didn’t care for power. He liked his joltiks. He liked his subway. He liked a good, fair fight with passionate trainers. But he loved Ingo more than all of those combined. He could live with taking a backseat for a while if it meant he could see Ingo again. He grit his teeth and met Giratina’s eyes.
"I am Emmet. I will do it."
------------
So to answer your question: not that sinister actually. Giratina wants to fix his family issues and experience the not-distorted world. And unlike a certain someone-
*cough* Arceus *cough*
-he tries his best to make sure Emmet knows what he's getting into. It'll take a bit to get used to taking a backseat in his own head, but at least Emmet gets a new fren and spooky powers out of it. :>

if emmet in faeU could turn into goop like ingo, what color would he be? (Also- if changlings could be made with shadow, I can’t help but wonder if they could be made of light too?)
Emmet would be a very light silvery! Aaaaaaalmost white but not quite.
You’re on the right track too! Emmet would be made of moonlight- a much softer sort of light then Akari’s holy light!
I’ve actually played around with the idea of a reverse AU quite a bit and might write a fic about it after everything is said and done lol. Lemmie dig out my notes….
Key differences between changeling!Emmet and changeling!Ingo:
-Emmet carries around a lot less inherent angst. He doesn’t think he’s a good person- but he doesn’t really dwell on it. It’s just a fact of life in his eyes
- Emmet takes matching his brother verrrrrry seriously. He spent a good chunk of their early life bemoaning that he couldn’t be exactly like Ingo. Ingo eventually offered the mirroring thing as a compromise that Emmet accepted.
- Emmet swings wildly between- keeping human form up as long as humanly possible and refusing to switch back even if he’s long over extended himself (he wants to match Ingo, it’s unfair he can’t match Ingo all the time), to being in changeling form as much as he possibly can. (So he can be picked up and carried around. When he’s in moods like these Ingo will have to carry him home because he refuses to be human for longer then necessary)
- He likes being carried a lot a lot. Like, changeling!Ingo enjoys it immensely but changeling!Emmet will be a little brat about it and DEMAND to be carried around. Elesa jokes about him being lazy but it’s more about the extended contact
- Another difference is that he likes that he’s changing Ingo…. While also feeling pretty guilty for feeling that way. Ingo assures him that he is in no pain…. but sometimes Emmet worries. He’s not sure what he would do if he actually hurt Ingo.
probably hide under the bed and refuse to come out.
- Probably is a lot stronger at night and weaker during the day- but the darkness of the subway tunnels help shield him from the sun
- how him and Ingo met is also completely different but I’ll save the exact specifics for later. Just know that they get adopted much younger in this AU ;)

how would the twins feel about the flower dance?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ingo likes it! He's quite interested in the valley's customs. Emmet on the other hand...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Emmet hates it, but he finds fun elsewhere. It doesn't really matter if he likes anyone or not….. he's just nosey for the sake of it.
Tumblr media
Joltik is having fun, too!
Their rejection dialogue was actually the first lines of dialogue we wrote for them... It took months to come back and finish writing dialogue for the festivals. We were originally thinking that they would be more reserved and reluctant to join, but they would have become more comfortable by then. The first Flower Dance they attend would take place after they've lived in the valley for almost a year, since the Railroad doesn't open until Summer 3. They both used to be tucked away in the corner... now they're spread out and Emmet is stalking people in plain sight like usual.
Rejection/marriage under the read-more.
- Rejection Lines - ▲ Ingo ▲
"I see… my apologies, but I will have to refuse. I simply do not know you well enough to embark on this cab with you at this event. Thank you, however, for considering myself as an option. Perhaps the other townsfolk may be more inclined?" ▽ Emmet ▽
"No. I am Emmet. And I am not going to dance with you. Talk to someone else."
- Alternate dialogue when married to Ingo -
▲ Ingo ▲
"You look as astonishing as ever, dear! If you would be so kind as to indulge me, I look forward to coupling with you upon the tracks of the Flower Dance."
"Embarrassing as it may be… ever since I had learned of this festival, I had fantasized endlessly about engaging in its customs with you."
"If you wish to head upon those tracks, it would be my pleasure to accept your request!"
▽ Emmet ▽
"Hey. You're here to dance with Ingo, right? He's been practicing. It was verrrry annoying when he first made me learn all the customs. It's funny now that I know how lovesick he is about you."
"I hope you're ready, too! I am on picture duty with Joltik. He wanted to preserve his memory with you forever. He's so cheesy like that. Smile!"
Joltik
"Emmet gave me a verrrry important task! I get to be on camera duty when you dance with Ingo!"
- Alternate dialogue when married to Emmet -
▽ Emmet ▽
"Darling! You’re going to participate in the Flower Dance, aren’t you? I will be your partner. Yup. Even though I don’t like the dance. It’s weird. My legs do not like bending that way. You know that. But I will still be your partner for it. Yup."
"You know my favorite part of the Flower Dance is watching the other townsfolk be nervous about rejection. I don't want us to be part of that."
"That doesn't mean I want you to try to get rejected by someone else. I can decline if you really, really want to do that part. We do everything together as a two-car train."
"I can't risk you coupling with someone else. Don't ask anyone to dance with you. I'm watching. Joltik is, too. They will be verrrry sad if you do. Don't try it. You don't need anyone else."
"If you don't want to dance here, we can dance at our terminal station. Later. Just the two of us. With more fun moves!"
"It would not be nice if you coupled with someone else… But I trust your judgment. I am here for you. We can dance, or we cannot. The choice is yours. I'm yours, too."
▲ Ingo ▲
"Though he may complain quite a bit, Emmet would indeed be pleased to oblige in your request to couple with him during the Flower Dance!"
"He has actually been quite nervous that you wouldn't enjoy his company as your Flower Dance partner… His train of thought is not headed in the right direction…"
"But I have confidence that you'll quell his unfounded worries once again!"
"Emmet will also not take kindly to your cab diverting tracks from him. He was never the fondest of sharing…"
"Please refrain from entertaining the idea of dancing with anyone else. If you do, I will not hear the end of it… There should be no need for me to console him afterwards."
Joltik
"Are you going to dance with Emmet? He put me on camera duty, just in case!"
"I want to use the camera! It's fun adding to Emmet's scrapbook! He feeds me batteries when we do!"
"It's okay if you don't dance! I'm taking pictures anyways! I'll get lots of batteries later!"

cw: 18+ content, afab reader, egg preg, Slither Wing Emmet, pokehybrid au
why is all the smut I have been writing moth adjacent recently?
You shivered as the odd hybrid pinned you to your bed. His fuzz tickled your skin while his wings stretched out for a moment. Suddenly, why Volcarona were often remarked as appearing like the sun was apparent to you. A strange squeaking noise came from him as he tilted his head. His eyes were a lot more bug-like than most modern bug-type hybrids. They squinted as he observed your clothing with an obvious annoyance on his face. The sheer size of him made you a bit nervous.
“Hey,” you called out to catch his attention, “Are… you horny?” The gears in his head turned at your words. It was obvious, but he seriously was unsure of modern language. You wanted to both curse and thank whoever brought these prehistoric hybrids from the past. His hips ground against yours. A soft whine came from you. This was part of the reason you were going back and forth about these two. One was so extremely horny and stringent in his refusal to better learn about the world he found himself in. The other was a lot more manageable in comparison, however.
You decided to give the poor bug a hand and help strip away your layers. He immediately perked up at your actions and freed his grasp on your wrists. His long, scaly tail wagging slightly while his antennae twitched as more of your skin was exposed to him. A certain grin danced across his lips as ground against your bare crotch, with a slight moan escaping his throat. His fluff felt strange in such a sensitive place. This kept on until you felt something strange growing and pressing out from his crotch area. “Wh-what is that?” you asked. Emmet either understood this or the expression on your face, so he moved away from you to let you see.
From a hidden slit within his fluff appeared a thick and strange phallus that certainly reminded you of ovipositors, but there was just something so different about it and large. Much like the rest of him, everything just seemed too big. You had done some minor research into him and his brothers, and they appeared to be from the dinosaur era. Before you could further your inquiry into that thought, he rubbed the ovipositor against you and forced a moan from both of you.
It was warm; much hotter than you had expected. Maybe it was because it was sheathed inside him, or maybe the heat that Volcaronas have modernly started much longer than currently accepted. His hips humped against you for a moment, length pressing between your folds and rubbing against you distractingly. You felt your arousal grow hotter by the moment. His eyes closed as he seemingly focused on his pleasure for a moment. The way his wings pressed to him was oddly cute.
It was unbeknownst to you if he was trying to turn you on or simply had no clue what to do with his dick, so you decided to give him a hand. Gently pushing him away, you moved a hand between your legs to help ready yourself for his girthy offering. He tilted his head at your actions, but observed everything you did closely. As you parted your labia, you circled around your entrance for a second before pushing a finger inside. This was now partly a show, after all. Might as well entertain him. Maybe he will learn something, too.
You quickly had another finger join your first alongside a thumb to rub against your clit. The intensity from Emmet's gaze sent a shiver down your spine. His wings twitched as he watched you ready yourself for him. It was pretty embarrassing, but you managed to keep your cool despite the increase in blood flow in your body. Just as you felt you were about ready to take him, he suddenly grabbed your hand and pulled it out of the way.
His face leaned close to your pussy, causing you to jump with every heated breath that came from him. For a moment, Emmet just remained there. Then, his oddly long tongue poked out from his lips and he gave a tentative lick between your folds. A shudder came from you, as he swirled it around your clit for a moment before bringing it down to your entrance to press inside. His antennae moved excitedly as he let out a soft whine. You cried from the sudden pleasure he brought. It swirled around inside you, prodding you in ways a human tongue could simply never manage.
It pressed so well into sensitive areas that you reached a hand to pulled his face closer to you. This, however, made him pull back. The sudden action set him off, it seemed. Still, he gazed at you with a gleam around his mouth. He licked it away and carefully began to move over you. Again, he pressed you to the bed, restraining you. For a moment, you wondered if these were normal mating procedures for his species, but the thought was banished from your mind with his ovipositor pressing against you. Emmet now apparently grasped what he needed to do.
The bug hybrid positioned the head of his length to your entrance. There was nothing to be said, so with a quick glance at you, he began to push inside of you. You grasped the sheets as it speared you open. It was, without a doubt, bigger than anything you had ever hoped to take before. The stretch was surprisingly painless, but you still felt overwhelmed from the sheer sensation of it all. Laying limp for a moment, you watched as Emmet's eyes squeezed closed again. He had seemingly pressed all of his ovipositor that you could take into you.
“Nih-” the syllable was caught off by a whine, “Nihcee. Vehrrrry nice.” He managed. Those silver eyes suddenly locked onto yours as he laid against your body, fur tickling your skin. You felt flustered by his attempt at words. Had he actually been paying attention? You had no more time to think on it before he began to slowly pull out. Then, he thrust back in. You moaned. A giggle like noise came from him. The expression on his face did not reflect such a sound, however.
His hips soon fell into a fast and rough rutting, clearly showing how he leaned more feral than aware. His noises were an odd mix of squeaks and grunts, while you struggle not to whine and moan from it all. It hit you deep, pointed head hitting your cervix with each thrust. You desperately tried to meet his pace, feeling a heat beginning to coil in your stomach. It grew tighter as he brought one of his hands down to press between your folds. Emmet instantly took to rubbing your clit with his thumb. You felt so full and contented.
An expected kiss from him to your lips left you awestruck. The poking of his tongue against your lips left you completely at will to his wants. Its thin length explored around curiously before curling around your tongue. You cried into his mouth. A shiver shot down your spine as his fur brushed against your nipples, too. He fucked into you harder, forcing an unexpected orgasm from you.
The sound that came from him as your walls tightened around him could only be described as something feral. Recovery was impossible as he immediately set into rocking you harder against the mattress. You cried out, slowly being pushed into overstimulation. There was nothing to slow him down; the only thing on his mind was your heat swaddling around him. This veracity ripped another orgasm from you, but this still did not slow him down.
He kept going further, sending you into the madness of pleasure. You felt completely exhausted and out of your own mind when he finally came to an abrupt stop. Emmet held himself above you, wings and antennae shivering as a cry left his throat. The moment of respite was much appreciated… Until you remembered the next step for nearly all bug hybrids. A swelling formed at the base of his ovipositor and slowly descended, momentarily catching on your entrance. It pushed through, however, as your muscles had been thoroughly weakened by the constant fucking Emmet had wrought upon you for what must have been hours.
The egg travelled down and stopped dead against your cervix. The Slither Wing hybrid's face twisted with confusion. You tried to open your mouth, but he was quick to bring his hand back between your legs. A cry left you as tears burned your eyes. His thumb played with your clit perfectly. It seemed he was a faster learner than he let on. You came again, harshly, and he took the opportunity to push his ovipositor deeper into you. Any resistance was easily defeated by the prehistoric pokemon.
It was deposited inside you with ease and was accompanied by a liquid. Before you could even process it, another was making its way through the ovipositor. Its descent was easier than its predecessor as it rolled into and joined it. Your toes curled from the peculiar sensation. Emmet groaned as another travelled down, and then another. A fifth, sixth, seventh were quickly laid inside you, each around the size of a baseball. From what you had seen, these were much bigger than the modern eggs of most moth hybrids.
You came for the last time when the eighth, and final, egg landed inside of you. Shuddering, too, when a large amount of the heated liquid spewed inside as well. Emmet carefully removed his length from you, clearly focused on keeping his eggs inside of you. The hybrid carefully began to settle blankets, sheets, and clothing around you, ripping and tearing them to your distant annoyance. One blanket was draped over you as he worked to make his equivalent of a nest.
By the time he was finished, you were already drifting off. He settled next to you, curling around your smaller body with his fuzzy one, The smell of something musky hit your nose, but you nuzzled into him, enjoying the heat he gave. A yawn came from you as finally felt your consciousness fade, body completely tired out.
“Love you,” he cooed perfectly.
Suddenly, you were wide awake.

Sweet Tooth
Akari shares her dango with Ingo, knowing he likes sweets just as much as she does
I wrote this after getting several requests to write about Ingo’s partiality to sweets if I hold the headcanon (I do, along with Emmet liking bitter things haha) as well as a request to write something about Ingo and Emmet’s friendship with Elesa (very briefly used in here, I can write more for this later ^^)
OR read here on AO3!
Enjoy!
————
“Ingo, here!”
Ingo looked up from his bowl of rice, to see Akari was holding out a dango stick to him from across the table, expectantly waiting for him to accept it.
“Miss Akari, you were adamant that you had ordered that for yourself.” Ingo recalled Akari swearing she would eat it all this time; this was not the first time she had ordered a plate of sweet dango with their meals and then tried to hand it off to him. Ingo always appreciated the gesture, but he thought she could be spending her hard-earned money on better things than him.
“Well, yeah, but Beni brought too much; I can’t finish it.” The dango was still being held out across the table.
“You said that last time too.” The warden reminded her, taking another bite of his rice. After the first few times of her trying to order dango for him, she has found he would accept it more easily if she ordered it for herself, then handed him half under the guise that she was full. But even that excuse was wearing thin. “Perhaps you should consider ordering the single stick instead of the group plate, next time.”
“But then I can’t share if I do that!” Akari finally admitted her intentions openly as she gave him a smile, waving the dango stick. “Now here, my arm’s getting tired!”
Ingo sighed as he finally reached out and received the dango from her waiting hand, though the corners of his mouth were turned up in one of his unique smiles at the generosity. And he couldn’t deny that he liked the glazed treat; Beni’s potato mochi was savory and crispy, and the rice was always a good complementary pairing, mild and filling…but the sweet dango scratched an itch that not many other things did, here in Hisui.
“Thank you, Miss Akari.” Ingo may have accepted the dango stick, but he didn’t allow himself to take a bite just yet. “Though, I do hope you are not ordering these just for my sake; It seems you do not order these with anyone else. If you don’t particularly like it-“
“No!” The girl spoke over a mouthful of dango, having picked up her own stick from the plate. She wiped at some of the sticky rice dumpling. “I like them too! It’s just that, you know no one here seems to have as big of a sweet tooth as you or me!”
Ingo had never spoken about it, so he was unsure how or when she had found out, but it was apparent that at some point, Akari had discovered that he was just as partial to sweets as she was.
Perhaps his sweet tooth seemed to stick out a bit, compared to how the rest of the region’s preferences generally appeared to lean towards spicy or bitter tastes, with the popularity of briny twice-spiced radishes, or their appreciation of pep-up plants and kings leaves as cooking ingredients - things both Ingo and Akari were not too keen on.
Regardless of how Akari found out about their shared preferences, she seemed to use it as an excuse to get them both to indulge, and this was just another one of her methods.
He thought back to when Alari had rushed to bring him a box of sweet pastries that the ginkgo guild had brought from overseas, so they could share it together. Or when she often asked him to help her taste-test experimental batches of various treats she’d make with sweet pecha berries. How she’d want him to try sugary sinnoh drinks she’d recognized when scavenging items from space-time distortions, or how she’d say she never would have guessed he had a sweet tooth from how stoic he appeared, as they’d eat together.
It reminded him of the way (Elesa) would (sometimes) encourage his (habit) by bringing him (leftover) sweets from her many (modeling) and (photoshoot) events. How (Emmet) would often poke fun at his (partiality), asking if he wanted (some)(coffee) with his (cream) and sugar every single time they (placed) an (order), or how he’d (say) he didn’t understand Ingo’s (inferior) preferences, but could always (correctly) guess what he was going to pick up for (breakfast) from the (pastry)(counter).
(…)
It reminded him of the way she’d encourage him by bringing sweets from her events. Or how the other would poke fun at him, asking what he wanted with his sugar every single time, or how he didn’t understand Ingo’s preferences, but could guess what he was going to pick up.
“I…suppose I cannot argue with that.” Ingo finally bit into his dango, appreciating the sweet flavor of the glaze with the chewy texture of the dumpling.
“You don’t think you’ll ever get tired of this stuff, right?” Akari spoke over her mouthful of dango, already working on her second one, as she held the last stick out to Ingo.
“I, well…I imagine not,” Ingo swallowed his dango as he took the second stick, careful not to speak with his mouth full like Akari was. He wasn’t sure he could get rid of a habit that had seemed to follow him most of his life, anyways. And sometimes, he thought not even the teenager appreciated sweets as much as he did.
“Good! Because Volo told me that tomorrow the Ginkgo Guild was going to bring in a huge overseas shipment of sweets from another region! We have to try them all!”
Ok, perhaps her sweet tooth was bigger than his.
“Ah, perhaps we should slow our tracks a little, Miss Akari.”

Okay so you guys seemed to enjoy my post about my Yamask!Ingo AU, so I wanted to expand upon and explain this AU in a bit more detail, so here we go. Also this is gonna be VERY long so be prepared.
Essentially this takes place sometime after Akari’s battle against Volo and Giratina, Hisui is saved and while the space-time rifts are still occurring, they’ve been getting less and less frequent. Since stakes have greatly lowered, Akari decides to use her spare time to help Ingo get his memories back. This goes on for a few months, and by that point Ingo has regained several of his key memories, such as being from future Unova, his job as the Subway Boss, and most recently: Emmet. Obviously as Ingo regains more and more of his memories, the more he begins to feel out-of-place here in Hisui, and how much he wants to return home. Akari knows this and starts trying everything in her power to send him to his original time period.
One day, as Ingo, Akari, and Lady Sneasler are investigating one of the rifts on a mountain to find out how to send him home, the distortion from the rift triggers an avalanche. Lady Sneasler manages to save Akari from the oncoming snow, but Ingo gets caught in the crossfire, and ends up being killed as a result of his injuries. Akari is devastated as a result, not just from the loss of her friend, but knowing he would die never having gotten home. This leads her to Spear Pillar, where she makes a prayer to Arceus that there must be SOME way for him to go home. Thankfully, as Arceus’s champion, they listened, and tells Akari that they can send him home alive, just not in a human form. Arceus then turns Ingo’s dormant soul into a yamask, and sends him back to present-day Unova.
Meanwhile, Emmet has been barely holding on in his brother’s absence. The rifts that connect Hisui and the present era are parallel, so as Ingo has spent a year-and-a-half in Hisui, the same amount of time has passed in Unova. Emmet had become incredibly depressed during this period, although things have improved a bit, he’s still struggling to accept his dear brother may be gone forever. One day, he has a strange dream that night, where he’s following Ingo down a dark tunnel, and when Ingo turns to face him, he’s wearing a silver mask of his face, and Emmet wakes up (Emmet doesn’t realise that this is a message from Arceus about Ingo’s whereabouts and condition).
The next day Emmet heads out to work and operate the Battle Subway for the day (The subway system runs 24/7, but the Battle Subway specifically is only open during the day). Everything goes normal for the day until right before he decides to head home, he gets in a report from the Gear Station workers about a wild Pokémon in the underground tunnels, so Emmet goes to deal with the issue. After some exploration he finds what the worker had reported about: A harmless yamask, nothing too hard or serious, right? Well what Emmet has not realised yet is that yamask is, in fact, Ingo, who has spent the last 24 hours wandering the tunnels while also trying to process realising-your-own-death-and-becoming-a-Pokémon-as-well.
So obviously in that moment Ingo realises he’s literally now facing his long-lost brother, who has not realised who the latter is quite yet, and goes NUTS. So Emmet is now confused as this yamask starts frantically pointing at its mask and at him, and he doesn’t realise what’s happening until he takes a closer look at the mask and realises what’s exactly is going on: This yamask is actually his missing brother. Emmet and Ingo start breaking down into happy tears as the two are FINALLY reunited once more, Emmet then scoops up Ingo into his arms and runs home to process everything that’s happening.
After a bit the realisation kicks into Emmet that…well…Ingo is a GHOST NOW. Que Emmet bombarding Ingo with questions about what the fuck happened to him, while Ingo can only reply by writing everything out because he can’t talk now. While Emmet isn’t quite sure of what he was expecting, he probably wasn’t ready to see Ingo explain this entire freaking SAGA involving time-travel, amnesia, isekai, actual GODS and more.
Yeah thats gonna be really fun to tell their therapist. Their conversations from then on were basically like:
Ingo, writing down on a notepad: So then as we threw the Origin Ball at them, there was this giant explosion on light…aaannnddd then Spear Pillar was destroyed, trust me, it was INSANE. It worked though and we were mostly unharmed.
Emmet: What?! You saw the destruction of Spear Pillar, this just keeps getting even crazier, go on!
Elesa, who has been here for the last 20 minutes after getting a call from a Gear Station worker asking to check in on Emmet listening to all of this shit:
Tumblr media
That’s it for now, I’ll continue this in another post, but this is mostly the initial setup for what’s happening.

ok hi according to an npc in hammerlocke applins can be given as part of a romantic confession which i think is adorable but since they’re only native to galar that tradition definitely doesn’t exist in unova & i was wondering if you could write the subway bosses being given an applin by the person they like, not knowing what it means until someone tells them and then they have to make a mad scramble to tell you they love you too
Absolutely!!
Asks are open!
-
-
🔳Emmet🔳
- you met him when you first moved to Unova from Galar, you had gotten a little turned around and asked him for help. Which the subway boss was more than happy to do!
- Doing his toy solider walk as he lead you through the walk ways. And several thank you’s you left.
- Though you came back once you got use to everything and battled him on the battle carts.
- And he couldn’t help but want to talk! Not only are you a suuuuper strong trainer, you have Pokémon he has never seen before! He had to know more!
- And you two talked until the subway came to a stop. By that time you had exchanged numbers and he begged you to battle him again sometime.
- You two became fast friends. Meeting him outside of work and him showing you around town.
- You even let him in your house to meet all your Pokémon personally! He coos at every last one of them.
- Almost a year into this friendship did he realize he was in love with you. He is a straightforward man but he wanted to make it special!
- The subway boss didn’t know you were planning something of your own when you went back to Galar to visit family for a week.
- Emmet was house sitting for you in your time away. Just as excited as yamper when you walked through the door.
- Happily listening to you talk about your trip.
- “Oh! I also got you something!”
- The expressive twin perks up a bit more before you hand him a small applin.
- With stars in his eyes he looks between your and the small apple Pokémon.
- “It’s an Applin, the mean a lot in Galar-“
- Emmet didn’t give you time to finish before he squealing and cooing over the small pokemon.
- “I love them! Oh I’m spoiling them, oooooohhhh I a cute bow and ribbon is in order!” Silver eyes glance at the over clock before he winces “ah Ingo is going to be mad I’m late, I’m sorry I couldn’t stay longer, but you rest up and we can spend time together later.”
- With a hug he is gone. And you sigh, there goes that idea, and just when you had the confidence to confess.
- Emmet carries the Applin, whom he affectionately name Smokey after a kitchen incident, everywhere he goes like he does his joltik’s.
- Emmet is very happy to see his spider children like and get along with the apple Pokémon.
- It had been a week since you’ve given the Applin to him.
- He didn’t know a damn thing until he was battling a tourist from Galar who happened to see the little guy poking his head out from Emmet’s pocket.
- “Aw so cute.”
- Emmet’s grin widens “right!? My dearest friend gave them to me.”
- The trainer looked confused for a minute “you mean partner….right?”
- Now it’s Emmet’s turn to be confused as the Galarian deadpans “you’re telling me you didn’t accept the confession but took the Applin? That’s just cold.”
- “I’m sorry I’m not sure I know what you’re talking about.”
- The trainer sighs “in Galar giving someone an Applin symbolizes affection story goes of you give it to someone you’ll be together forever, nice, ain’t it?”
- The trainer laughs at Emmet’s jaw dropped face. The second the subway doors open Emmet is running out “Gotta go! THANK YOU!”
- Everyone moving out of the way of the speeding twin, Smokey tucked away safely as Emmet doesn’t slow down, if anything he is speeding up once he is nearing your house.
- He flings your door open, making you jump from your couch.
- “YOU!”
- “M-me?”
- You back up as he speed walks towards you. What did you do? Is he mad? He looks mad.
- You don’t make it far enough away before Emmet grabs your arm, pulling you into his chest and kissing you.
- You let out a surprise squeak. Your face feels like it’s on fire.
- Though he can’t kiss you for long, all that running tired him out. He pulls away panting.
- “I love you and you don’t tell me even after giving me the Applin? I had to find out through a trainer?”
- He breathlessly snorts at your embarrassed expression.
- “I-I was going to tell you the day I gave Smokey to you! Honest! But then you left and I lost my nerve I just, I’m sorry Em.”
- “It’s fine, but I demand cuddles and a date.”
- Laughing you agree. And that’s how you ended up pinned on the couch beneath the smiling twin as he cuddles into you.
- “Did you tell Ingo you’d be here?”
- “……..can I borrow your phone?”
- “Siiiigh yeah sure you nerd.”
🔲Ingo🔲
- you lived in Unova for a few months with your Galar team before trying out the battle subway.
- Ingo wanted to talk after your win because he fell in love with your Coalossal. Who betrayed you and liked the stoic man too!
- You got a few good laughs out of Ingo because of this. He enjoyed seeing your bond with your Pokémon, even if you are playfully arguing with it for being a traitor.
- You’d stop by to battle a few more times before you two officially became friends.
- You happily told him all about your home in Galar and all the sights, even showing him pictures you’ve taken back home.
- You two would swap stories and interesting bits of information about your respective regions.
- And you enjoyed his train facts!
- Though he wants to visit Galar now because he wants to see Rolycolies and Carkols.
- Almost two years and he can say confidently that he has fallen in love with you, but he can’t say it to you.
- He gets choked up and quickly changes the subject.
- He doesn’t want to look like a fool in front of you.
- “Hey Ingo! I um, I want you to have something.”
- He was just about to leave since his lunch break was almost over.
- “What is it?”
- And you toss up a pokeball and in your hands rests the cutest little Pokémon he has ever see.
- “It’s an Applin.” You hand the small Pokémon to him. He takes it with gentle care, he can’t look away from it, it’s so small and cute.
- “I love them, so adorable, I will cherish and protect them with my life, thank you.”
- The dragon grass type jumps up and down a little in his hands.
- “W-well uh I just-“
- You two look over to Ingo’s walkie talkie that statically comes to life and Emmet’s voice can be heard.
- “Ingo some have a bitch who wants to talk to you.”
- Emmet does not sound happy, and neither does Ingo at his brother’s words.
- “I will see you later, I apologize for the abrupt departure.”
- “No worries! Be safe.”
- Damn, you missed your shot.
- For almost a month Ingo and his Applin (that he names sunny) were inseparable. Making a home in the stoic twins pocket.
- Ingo is more happy that his large Pokémon like and are careful with the small baby.
- It wasn’t until he was helping a child find her mother in the station did he ever get a hint.
- Before the child left, sunny poked his head out, causing the little Galarian girl to giggle.
- “Mommy look! An Applin!”
- “Now dear I’m sure the nice man wants to get back to his partner, say thank you.”
- “Thank you Mr subway boss sir!”
- And like that they left a stunned Ingo in his place.
- Partner? Where did they get partner from his Applin?
- When his shift was over he made sure to get off on time.
- At home by 6pm he looks it up. He couldn’t let it go.
- And when he sees the hundreds of search results about how Applin’s are a love confession he was melting in his couch.
- Face in a throw pillow he screams.
- His affections were returned and you didn’t tell him!
- Granted he has no room to talk but still!
- Should he text you? Call you? Should he go over to your house?
- Ingo grabs his phone and texts you ‘are you home?’
- ‘Yeah, what’s up?’
- ‘May I come over?’
- ‘Of course, you have a key, you’re welcomed anytime.’
- Shoes on and Sunny on his pocket he is out the door. Stopping by a flower shop and grabbing a bouquet of your favorite flowers.
- Knocking on your door he waits.
- And once you open it your flushed.
- “Oh my! What’s with the flowers?”
- “They are for you.”
- “They are beautiful, thank you, come on in, I was just fixing up some dinner and-“
- “Why didn’t you tell me?”
- He mentally kicks himself for interrupting you.
- “Tell you what?” Closing the door you hunt for a vase for the flowers.
- “Why didn’t you tell me about what Applins mean.”
- You froze. Shitshitshit did he really have to find out?
- “Is that what you were going to tell me because I was called away?”
- “I-I mean…yeah, I was hoping to anyways.”
- He hugs you so tightly. Your face in his chest.
- “I love you as well, I was too nervous about making myself look like a fool in front of you, please, accept my affection.”
- You grip the back of his shirt laughing.
- “Of course Ingo, how could I not?”
- He stays for dinner. You even make a little side dish for Sunny. And Ingo can’t he’ll but feel like this is where he belongs.

Do you have any headcanons about the Unova league? The Unova games are your favorite iirc, so I'm curious what headcanons you have for the league
Hell yes I fuckin do omf thanks for asking this is exciting my fave League and fave games and fave region the peak of pkmn honestly fr fr hahaha
Anyways hahaha
•the most tight knitted group of friends ever fr, like the Unova League is legit the epitome of found family I'm not taking criticism on this
•Elesa loves the rollercoasters bc it reminds her of the trains in the subway, and since she's both Gym Leader and model, she really can't hang out w Ingo and Emmet that much
-so to fill in the void of missing her bros, she rides the rollercoaster during her free time, and she's just imagining Ingo and Emmet w her having fun too
-ofc, whenever she has the free time, she'd always be there w her bros, and the three of them would be the final bosses of the subway, either going for Triple Battles or Rotation Battles
•Skyla is honestly afraid of the deep sea, whenever she flies around Unova and she passes the seas of Undella or Humilau and such, she won't ever look down, no matter how beautiful she knows the scenery would be
-Elesa got Marlon to help Skyla w that fear of hers. Imagine the three of them at Humilao, Marlon's swimming at the deeper end of the sea, and Skyla's there clinging tight on to Elesa
-ofc, they really don't force her to swim at the deeper end, more like they just make her swim w them at the shallow waters near the shore, and it was nice for her at least bc they care enough abt her to help her
•E4 poly real
-i know when Grimsley went to Alola the other three missed him so much they didn't want to battle challengers without him
-that caused a short hiatus for the league
•Alder and Drayden were childhood friends and were rivals
-Drayden was the type of rival to always strive for the best, he was the one who got a headstart, while Alder took his time on the Gym Challenge
-after beating the E4, since Unova didn't have a Champion back then, the two of them battled for the title, w Alder coming out victorious, and Drayden accepted defeat, congratulating his friend
•while some of the Gym Leaders took a while to forgive N, they also became protective of him, and even taught him a lot of things they know since Ghetsis didn't bother back then
•Roxie is close w the Aspertia kids, they have their own lil friend group too, w Hugh, Nate, and Rosa
-these four are fighting for the title of Unova's best friend group against the Nuvema kids plus Iris and N
-its not really a thing, but Hugh and Hilbert are competitive and they love their friends and are too prideful to ever let anyone sully their own friend group
•Lenora would oftentimes visit Cheren in Aspertia to see how he's doing as Gym Leader, even giving him pointers and such on how to be a better battler and how to balance his work as teacher and as Gym Leader
-but most of the time, she just loves to see how far Cheren has gone, even becoming her own successor as the Normal type Gym Leader of Unova
Clay has the biggest soft spot for the kids but he will never ever admit it
-they know he'd drop anything in an instant for them, but they only ever do that when they want him to take a break as he is such a workaholic
•while the Striaton triplets were a bit sad their run as Gym Leaders didn't last long, it was still a fun time for them and it was nice that the League and even the people still hold them in high regards
-even young trainers in Striaton would still go to them for battling advice
•Burgh gives free art lessons during his free time, oftentimes Shauntal joins him and gives free writing lessons too
-these two often do collabs/trades, as Shauntal would write stories or poetry about Burgh's works, and Burgh would often paint the sceneries that Shauntal would write in her works

Let's get this started!
Hello and welcome!! We are studio inc.omplete, a group of indie game devs out of Troy, NY. We're currently working on our game Night of the Delivering Dead, a game about a necromancer who graduates with no practical experience in horde management turns to food delivery to practice fine mortem skills and chip into their student loans. After accepting an order from Death’s Delights, the player will have to use their hand of spells, summons, and other necromantricks to successfully locate and deliver multiple orders to their destinations before the food grows cold, avoiding obstacles and weird looks in the process. We’ll be sharing devlogs and bits of progress here as we move through development. The first of those will come soon, but this post is more going to be an introduction to all of us, the dev team behind the game! In order of who sent Ivy their bio for this first:
Tumblr media
Ivy!
Ivy (they/she) is our writer who consistently manages to write stories that are better than she thinks she thinks they are. When she’s not being forced to do marketing she works on both analog and digital games to tell the queer stories that she wants to see in the world.
Tumblr media
Ghost!
Ghost (it/he) is our neighborhood cryptic and gets extremely invested in its interests, one of which is illustrating!! It also did all of our fantastic character portraits! You can find more of its work on DeviantArt and Bluesky.
Tumblr media
Brendan!
Brendan (he/him) is a programmer and designer who has only ideas that make the rest of the team go ‘oh no’. He works in analog and digital games to chase down whatever absurd idea he’s found that week and they’re all cool actually, and very serious and not silly.
Tumblr media
Emmet!
Emmet (he/him) is the Studio Inc.omplete vibe curator. When he's not busy doing that, he is a programmer and designer who loves getting under the hood of a system and making sure nothing Brendan designed is tremendously broken.
Tumblr media
Mira!
Mira (any pronouns) is our lead programmer, and as such has to wrangle Brendan and Emmet together and make sure things work. He’s currently playing FFXIV and is a big fan of narrative games, especially ones that have diegetic narrative mechanics.
Tumblr media
Ari!
Ari (she/her) is the team’s resident 3D artist and Blender enthusiast. She is very passionate about environmental art and the stories it can convey. In her free time you can find her playing various FPS games or the Sims :)
We’re a group of recent graduates from RPI with a passion for making neat, story driven games that use whatever cool system Emmet or Brendan come up with that week. Mira helps keep them focused on the programming work while Ivy brainstorms worlds to put their systems in. Ari then fills those worlds with 3d models and Ghost makes the character portraits and other 2d art to let you interact with it. Our biggest goal is to make games that make you say “hey, that’s neat!” Whether that be an interesting little story, a weird mechanic, or a silly premise, we want our games to be filled with moments that make you want to see more.
That’s about all we have for now! Like I said, we’ll be posting our first dev log soon, so follow and keep an eye out! Thank you for checking us out!

If you want to try coming up with your own ideas first, because it might influence your writing and thoughts you can skip until after you jot down some ideas.
But.
Offering ideas for happy endings like:
- Reversing the memory loss process through developing requited love. Like they didn't love them before, maybe only thought of them as a very nervous and somewhat weird friend, maybe even just friend of a friend, not realizing the reader had been crushing on them the whole time. Since reader is forgetting them and their crush on them, they become more confident and act more like themselves so the loved character gets to see while new sides of them which causes them to fall in love.
- Having fallen in love and learning of the memory loss too late and how to reverse the process, desperately thinking that maybe they should only to be stopped by reader who doesn't know why they care so much just that they do. And accepting that they'll just have make new memories from now on. (Because the mind forgets doesn't mean the feelings aren't still there.)
- Reincarnating into modern times which is very clearly for Warden Ingo or maybe Adaman if you chose him but i just love the idea that Ingo dies and but is actually sent back into his original time and finds reader's reincarnation and they both remember at the same time. Maybe a little bit of slow burn here for drama bc he tries to convince himself that's not possible but so many things are the same and reader technically wouldn't remember their past life immediately. Plus Ingo&Emmet reunion to make the ending a little sweeter.
Of course if it's adaman, they would both be reincarnated But obviously if you have another idea, you can do what you want. I'll love it no matter what because you come up with the most amazing things.
💙
And now!! For our second serving, may I present a Ingo-Less Emmet for all of you to enjoy!!
🍓🍓🍓
It started out as a coincidence. You happened to choose the same park to take your Pokémon as Emmet did to be alone, to sulk, and to let his own Pokémon (alongside Ingo's). He found you on the bench, cooing at a few Pokémon, and immediately his hoard were after you. So Emmet, forced to follow, sits down next to you.
It's slow going. At first, there's not much conversation had besides small talk about the Pokémon. You don't appear to know who Emmet is, nor do you know what happened. So you don't treat Emmet any differently than anyone else, and it's refreshing. So Emmet finds himself opening up to you slowly but surely.
He avoids specifics, but he does tell you about what he's going through, how his brother is gone and now he's without a half of himself he's had all his life, until now. You comfort him, and from you, it feels different. Emmet latches onto the comfort you bring, and soon your once a week meet ups become longer and longer, until you're spending the entire day into the night together.
And Emmet falls fast. And Emmet falls hard. He desperately relies on you, perhaps to an even unhealthy amount, but how can he not? You give him a happiness he hasn't felt since Ingo disappeared. He clings to you whenever he can, looks forward to your meet ups more than anything else. But as much as he loves you, he knows he can't be with you. Not without telling you the truth. Not without you realizing who he is, and everything changing.
Besides, he knows you don't feel the same.
The frequency of the meet ups imprint upon the Pokémon. Chandelure, Eelektross, Garvantula, Excadrill, all of them drag Emmet to the same park even as his memory starts to fail, forcing him to forget the pain of loving you silently. He becomes quieter and more withdrawn as you sit together, scaring you as he appears to be losing sleep and stop eating consistently. But he stops responding as much to your prompts at conversation, so things fall into awkward silence.
"I am Emmet," he says, out of the blue one day, "and I don't know why I come here."
"Emmet?" You ask, confused.
"I come here every weekend," Emmet continues, staring off blankly towards where the Pokémon wrestle around, "and you are here. And our Pokémon play. Do we. . . know one another?"
You know this isn't normal. You know this is probably a side effect of the grief. After showing Emmet proof that you do indeed know one another, and quite well, Emmet agrees to see a doctor. And what they say shocks Emmet to the core.
Forgotten Love Syndrome. Emmet marvels the pictures of you he has in his phone. You're indeed attractive, but who are you that he was able to fall for you even in this state of grief?
Emmet doesn't stop going to the park to meet with you. He's cautious, but so curious. He eagerly agrees to sit with you, listens to you tell stories of what you've both done before, with the Pokémon concurring your tales, even the embarrassing ones about Emmet himself.
It's easy, Emmet realizes, marveling up at you as you laugh and chatter on about some mishap you both had. You ease his pain, his loneliness, and help him feel. . . not quite whole, but less hollow. Emmet listens to your voice, closing his eyes, and rests his head on your shoulder. You don't waver, and he smiles to himself, soft and calm.
And this continues once again. Emmet falls just as fast as he did before, but he doesn't get another chance to worry and forget. You approach him, confusion marring your features, and force out words off a thick tongue.
"I love you." You say, visibly about to faint. Emmet reaches for you, eyes wide. "I-I love you, but I know you don't feel the same anymore, but I'm starting to forget too, Emmet, and I can't forget-"
Emmet hits the ground before you can say anymore. With a shriek, you cradle him in your arms, panicked over what's happening. Emmet all but crawls into you skin, pressing as close to you as he can get as he writhes in the pain of overflowing memories.
He remembers, all of it, even the embarrassing things he swore you were making up. It comes back to him like a film before his eyes, and it makes him laugh. It makes him cry. It makes him cling to you and beg you to never leave him, please. Promise you'll stay, he loves you too much to lose you.
You seal the promise with a kiss.
🍓🍓🍓
ta-da!! a happy ending for our sad boi emmet!! i hope you enjoyed it, lovely! have a wonderful day!!

Electric Trains are the Future Chapter 13: I am Emmet. Do Not Worry About the Anti-Christ.
Previous Chapter (12) - Current Chapter - Next Chapter (14)
We switch back to Emmet to see what he's been doing and is planning to do! And who better to join than everyone's favorite Pokemon blonde, Cynthia? Note: I will not be posting a chapter next week, to give myself some time to write the next few chapters, and I may be taking another short hiatus after Chapter 14. After Chapter 14, I will also be updating on Wednesdays, as my work schedule has changed.
Chapter Summary: Emmet and Cynthia have a talk, and Volo tells his story. Chapter Word Count: 3923 words. Chapter Warnings: Minor depictions of blood.
As always, read blow or on AO3 with additional notes! Reblogs and comments are always appreciated.
-
Emmet doesn’t like the Galaxy Building. The outside is a nice shade of purple, but the inside? The walls were a sterile gray, and the only color was the weird blue hair half the workers had. Emmet wasn’t a stranger to people having dyed or even naturally odd hair, but such a bright blue hurt his eyes a bit. It certainly wasn’t putting him into a good mood.
Not that he cared, honestly. He wasn’t looking forward to talking with Cynthia, and he was sure she wasn’t looking forward to talking to him. So he accepts the directions from one of the grunts in the building and goes to the third floor.
Cynthia was working at one of the desks in the corner, several books open in front of her as she types away on the desktop computer in front of her. She doesn’t look up as Emmet approaches, so he makes the first move. “Verrrrrry rude to call someone to a meeting, then work on something else. Should I leave you alone? Come back later?” He pauses slightly before pouting. “I left my udon with Elio for this.”
Cynthia lets out a long sigh as she stops writing in the notebook in front of her, and rubs her temples. “Sit down, Emmet. I’m really not in the mood for your sass tonight.” Emmet smugly smirks and sits down across from Cynthia. The two had never worked closely together, though she had been part of the search for Ingo three years ago.
She was also the one who confirmed to him that Ingo had ended up in the past. Decided to follow an itch in the back of her mind, and found photographic evidence of his brother as a Warden in Hisui. It wasn’t her fault, and it eventually allowed Emmet to move on, but he still didn’t like that she was the one that convinced himself and his mother to bury Ingo.
“I’m surprised you didn’t bring Elio and Volo with you,” Cynthia says after closing a few of her books.
“I am Emmet. Elio wanted to go explore the forest a bit,” Emmet says with a nod. “And Volo thinks you don’t like him.” He actually chuckles at that, before clapping his hands together. “So I came alone. You’re stuck with me, yup.”
“I knew I would be when you called me up,” Cynthia says with a sigh. “So, before we get started on talking about these distortions and Elesa, do you mind if I talk about something else first?” Emmet’s smile falls for a moment, his brows furrowing before he stiffly nods. “Thank you. So, I’m assuming you know about our missing Champion, Hikari?”
Emmet purses his lips and glares at Cynthia. “I’m not going to stop looking for my wife just because you want help.”
“And I’m not going to drop looking for my niece just because you are asking for help with your wife,” Cynthia says, scowling at Emmet. Emmet sighs and closes his eyes before waving for Cynthia to carry on. “Thank you. Now, I ended up looking into some more of the records, because something was eating at me since she went missing. When I first met her outside of this building, I felt like I should recognize her.”
“Because she was in the book with Ingo?” Emmet tries not to sound smug, but if he does, he really doesn’t fucking care. His smile widens as Cynthia hesitates, her mouth open in confusion. “My fainting spell was a sort of twin telepathy. I saw Ingo get injured, and she was there.”
Cynthia only hesitates a moment longer, before she leans forward and screams into her hands, lasting a surprising amount of time. Emmet sits there and waits for her to finish, and she finally straightens back up and breathes in deep. “I can’t even say that sounds absurd, since we’re talking about time travel!” She grabs the open book, and flips a few pages back before turning it around to face Emmet. “You know Kantonian.”
Emmet gives her a blank look before looking at the book, quickly reading the page. It was Kantonian, but was written in an older Johtoan dialect. The page mostly talked about the operations of the Survey Corps, and Emmet quickly saw what Cynthia was wanting him to see. 光. Hikari. “Common name, especially with kanji.”
“It is,” Cynthia says, grabbing the book and flipping it to another page, this time with the Kantonian split by a chunk of Galarian text in the middle. “But when Laventon, the Professor that the Galaxy Team had hired, wrote of this Surveyor, he called her Akari.”  Emmet nods, realizing the importance of that observation. A lot of kanji had different meanings or sounds associated with it depending on intent, location, or context. So it seems that Hikari had taken a similar name in the past, changing only a syllable but keeping the kanji associated with it.
“The girl’s smart,” Cynthia says with a rueful smile. “She beat me at the age of 12. She just began working in the capacity of being Champion a few months before she disappeared.” 9 months ago. Emmet… Emmet had returned the favor Cynthia had extended to him and looked in Unova for the young Champion. He had briefly met her just before her disappearance when she had come for an event at the Pokemon World Tournament in Driftveil.
Turning the page, he is greeted by the picture of a teenager, sitting on the ground in the middle of a pasture, brushing the fur of a large Teddiursa. Even with the colors sapped out into a sepia tone, Emmet could recognize the face of the Champion he had helped look for. Hikari was on the page before him, just like Ingo had been nearly 3 years ago. Emmet still didn’t like Cynthia all that much, but maybe he could sympathize with her with this. “So, are you going to give up on her? And what does this have to do with Elesa?”
“I’m not going to give up,” Cynthia says sharply. “We have new information since we found out about Ingo. And for Elesa, one moment.” She closes the larger book and brings up a smaller one. It was a notebook, really. “This is the registry of the Galaxy Team. A reproduction, but one that is accurate.”
She opens it to the Security Corps. section, flipping to the second page before gesturing for Emmet to read it. Emmet gives her a quick look before obliging her. The pages are mostly written in Japanese, and one of those names stuck out quickly. イン (Ingo). There were a few other names that popped out like that, possibly Unovans or Galarians who had joined the Team in that era. ヘンリー・シャーマン (Henry Sherman). ジョージ・ペトロフ (Georgi Petrov). エレサ・スターク “Elesa… Stark.”
Even before Elesa and Emmet thought there would be a chance for them to be married, she had chosen to keep her name when she married Skyla. She had already built a brand on her name as a Gym Leader and a model, so it was the obvious choice. And looking at the dates that she served, she had served for the Team for around 6 months… Ending the same day as his brother had.
Emmet couldn’t hold back the nervous laughter that came from his mouth. “Verrry convenient. All three in one spot.” He could feel his smile strain as he ground his teeth for a moment, looking at the short description of Elesa in the book. ‘A dependable foreigner. She had a connection with Ingo, and left at the same time as him. A fantastic addition to our training team, and one of our finest battlers’. “And they left?”
“Not initially, I think,” Cynthia says with a concerned look. “There’s a grave in Snowpoint for Warden Ingo, if you recall.” Emmet nods, remembering how Cynthia showed it to him and his mother a year after the disappearance. It was their final good-bye to him, properly letting Ingo rest in the past. “We’re currently reviewing texts from the era and papers that researchers have written to verify if Ingo was ever recorded to have died or if they simply used a euphemistic ‘leaving’ the entire time.”
“I may be burying my wife.” Emmet says. “You promised to help me, Cynthia. This isn’t help.”
“No, it’s not, but things have also changed since Ingo disappeared,” Cynthia says, with an edge in her voice. “The Team Galactic incident put us in contact with some Pokemon that would be able to help.” She pulls a Pokedex out from the desk, one that clearly has Hikari’s signature on it. “Cyrus attempted to summon both Dialga and Palkia, the Dragons of Time and Space, to recreate this world.”
Time and Space. Yes, Emmet remembers hearing about this a few years back. It would definitely explain why the folks downstairs all looked so similar and like mooks, since they were likely the remnants of the (formerly?) evil team.
Seeing Emmet’s look of recognition, Cynthia turns on the Pokedex and scrolls through the Pokemon list, continuing to talk as she does so. “Giratina appeared and pulled Cyrus, Hikari, and myself into the Distortion World, where I helped hold Cyrus off while she faced and captured Giratina.”
“Legendaries are banned from the Subway,” Emmet quips without even thinking about the context of the conversation. Quickly thinking of how to continue the thought, he tacks on “Though this may be the first time I’ve seen a true Legendary be captured.”
“Well,” Cynthia says as she turns the Pokedex around to face Emmet, “my niece decided one wasn’t enough. She wanted to finish the Pokedex for Professor Rowan, even after becoming the Champion.” Indeed she had, as Emmet could see not only Giratina, but both Dialga and Palkia in the captured list, as well as several more minor Legendaries and Mythicals. “That is the main difference from when Ingo went missing.”
“We have a theoretical way to go get them.” Emmet says it before Cynthia can even finish her sentence. “More reliable than having Elio use Solgaleo. These Legendaries are much more familiar with the history of this place.” He felt kinda bad for bringing Elio along if this is the case, but… Having them around has been good. “Let me tell them and Volo what we’ve figured out.”
“About that,” Cynthia says with a grimace. “Volo appears a lot in these texts, Emmet, and… He’s not a traveler like the others are.” She puts the registry away and reaches for another textbook. “He’s done some things tha-”
“I already know.”
Cynthia blinks at Emmet in what he has to assume is shock, then leans in. “Excuse me? You know, and you’re trusting him?”
“Cynthia. You’re only 30. A baby in the grand scheme of things,” Emmet says with a nod, having to hold in a chuckle as Cynthia scowls. “I am Emmet. I’m 35. Also a baby. And Volo is apparently closer to nearly 3 centuries. 10 of our lifetimes.
“If a man like that tells me he regrets his entire lived life, I’ll believe it.”
Emmet feels verrrry good as he watches Volo stumble back, holding onto his already bleeding nose. Kukui was already between the two, a hand on Emmet’s chest to keep him back while his gaze was on Volo, as he was attempting to keep balance before ultimately falling onto his back.
Volo lightly groans on the ground as Kukui approaches him and stands over him. “Man, cousin, that was a solid hit. Quite a Sucker Punch there.” Volo softly gurgles in what sounds like it could be a laugh at the bad joke from the Professor. “Come on, let’s get you up before you drown in your own blood.”
Kukui offers a hand, and Volo uses it to pull himself up, keeping his nose pinched. “That wouldn’t do more than get me sick later,” Volo says, sounding more nasally than normal as he searches his pockets for a handkerchief. “Though, yeah, good hit Emmet.” He finally pulls out a white handkerchief, covered in tiny Togepi eggs, and holds it to his nose, then tries to see if it’s broken or crooked.
“You owe me answers, Volo,” Emmet says, his voice quiet, quiet enough to show anger that his flat tone wasn’t able to convey alone. “You lied to me.” Emmet began to slowly walk towards Volo. “You followed me here on the promise of my brother and my wife. You were the one who took them from me.” He pulls out a Pokeball, clicking the button to expand it to its full size. “So, answer me, or be prepared to defend yourself.”
The threat in Emmet’s words was clear. Answer him his questions, or he would have one of his Pokemon attack Volo, and maybe even kill him. Yet, even with this, Volo simply pauses and laughs, through the blood dripping from his nose and through the now stained handkerchief beneath it. “You couldn’t kill me if you tried,” he sputters after a moment. “And I mean that sincerely. I’ve tried so many times, and I’ve failed so many times.”
Emmet and Kukui both pause at that statement, and Volo takes the chance to continue talking. “I caused the space-time distortions that struck the Sinnoh region over a century ago. The most logical explanation would be that I had access to time travel, either through Celebi or Dialga, or maybe one of your Ultra Beasts.” He gives a nod to Kukui at the end of his statement, before checking to make sure his nose has stopped bleeding. “But why would I have gone to the Hisuian Era to cause those problems instead of here, where I live?”
Emmet opens his mouth to say something, but Kukui quickly cuts him off. “You don’t mean to tell us you’re immortal?” Kukui asks the question in an almost disbelieving tone, his head tilted and eyes narrowed to show that he didn’t like this train of logic. “The only time this has come up, Cousin, is the rumor that the King of Kalos from the ArreteZ War is immortal due to how he ended the War.”
“Yes, he has many centuries on me,” Volo says non-chalantly, stepping to the waterline to rinse the blood off of his handkerchief. “I’ve only lived about… 308 years at this point. The one time I crossed his path, it really startled me that he may be my future.”
“You’re immortal. Fine then,” Emmet says, stepping across the sand to loom over Volo. “What are the space-time distortions?”
Volo finishes getting the blood out of his handkerchief, then wipes some of the blood off of his face before answering. “Rips in the fabric of space-time, caused by the combined frenzy of Lord Dialga and Lord Palkia.” He straightens up and turns to look at Emmet. “Giratina and I had forced the two into a battle and kept the battle running as long as we could, to hopefully destabilize everything to a point where…” He pauses and sighs heavily. “To the point where we would have a shot at Arceus.”
“The Alpha?!” Kukui says in shock, now stepping towards the pair. “You were trying to pull the Alpha down from their throne and…” Kukui struggles to find his thoughts as Volo puts away his handkerchief. “You were going to take over His place? Pull a Team Galactic?”
“Don’t get me started on them,” Volo says, pointing a finger at Kukui and getting the Professor to actually back off slightly. “That Cyrus bastardized the Galaxy Team’s message. Denboku Kamado sought to find safety from war, and Cyllene Terasu solidified the peace and unity that I was seeking. They may have dismissed Hisui’s culture and beauty to the past, but the rest of the world would’ve done it with less care in another few decades regardless. And their people were what brought my home a measure of peace by mediating between the clans.” Volo sneers, showing some blood that had dripped into his mouth splattered across his teeth. “Cyrus was a blight on their memories.”
“But it sounds like you were doing something similar,” Emmet says, putting his Pokeball away. “You broke the peace that they had formed. You put it all in jeopardy. You wanted it all to go away.”
Volo grimaces, then slumps. “Ok, but would it help if I had a compelling motive?” Silence was his only answer. “As I said, this all took place around 150 years ago. I was already long lived by that point, sneaking into new identities every few decades to keep tabs on things.”
“So, you were already immortal by the time you did this? You did work with Giratina that long, huh, Cousin?” Kukui cuts in.
Volo nods somberly. “Ok, to start at the top.” He stands up straight, pulling back his bangs to properly give both men his attention. “My name is Volo, and I am, to my knowledge, the last living member of the Celestica Clan. There are descendents of our Clan in Celestic Town and Eterna City in Sinnoh, but they only briefly follow the old rituals.
“Unlike the Diamond and Pearl Clans, we didn’t die out due to assimilation, forced or willing. While a majority of our peoples left for other regions, such as Kanto, Alola, and Orre, a few stayed to worship our Lord Sinnoh. My people watched as the Diamond and Pearl clans arrived.” Volo grabs the bottom of his shirt and pulls it up to his collar, revealing a long and jagged burn scar. “Then the new Clans heard that we worshipped another aspect of Sinnoh that they found abhorrent, and decided to cleanse us from the land.”
“Another aspect?” Emmet questions, glancing over at Kukui, who quickly takes over the explanation.
“The Clans in Sinnoh worshipped either Dialga or Palkia, seeing them as the true manifestation of Arceus,” the Professor says, not taking his eyes off of Volo.
“Correct, Kukui,” Volo says, letting his shirt fall. “While a majority of our Clan worshipped Arceus in His true guise, there were those of us who also viewed Giratina as His true child, even after Their banishment. This addition of a holy child apparently angered the newer Clans, and led to their attack on our village.”
Volo pauses, and looks away from the other two. “I… I should’ve died getting that scar. I watched my parents die, heard my village die, watched tamed and wild Pokemon alike burn and tear apart my life. So… I cried out to Giratina for help, and found myself in the Distortion World some time later.”
After a few moments of silence, Emmet simply turns away, not sure on what to say or do. Kukui quickly fills the silence though. “So, I’m assuming Giratina patched you up somehow, and being in the Distortion World is what gave you this immortality?” Volo simply nods. “And you were trying to topple Arceus to… Bring back your Clan? Make sure that they never fell?”
Volo shakes his head this time, breathing in deep. “No. Not that… Selfish.” He lets out a single laugh before taking a few more breathes. “No. I simply wanted to create a world without pain, or death, or suffering. A perfect world that not just myself, but that everyone in Hisui had been denied.” He brought up a hand, reaching out along the coast. “And I had a plan. Gather the 18 plates together, and cause… Something to bring Arceus out.”
He clenches his fist, then lets it fall. “And then we frenzied not only the Lords of Time and Space, but also the Nobles of Hisui. And Akari was brought in by Arceus, chosen by Him as His Champion, and… I lost it all.” Volo scowls, then slaps himself across the face. “I told her I would find her again, that I would never rest until I got what I desired, that I would reset existence into a more peaceful one at the cost of everything already here.” As he spoke, the pitch and intensity of his voice began to rise.
“Then I left.” The intensity suddenly drops, causing Volo to sound hollow. “Giratina had rejected my anger, my rancor. I doubt They think fondly of me, even now. I told Akari that I would return, and instead, I never did, not while she was there. When I came back, she was long gone, alongside Warden Ingo. I watched the final generation of the Clans die out, assimilating into the masses of the Sinnoh population without almost anything to show for their history.”
Volo slowly pulls out a small Pokeball from his pocket, opposite of where he kept the handkerchief. Curiously, instead of a mixture of fiberglass and metal that most Pokeballs were made of, this one was made of an Apricot. He looks at it for a few moments before gently bringing it to his lips. “My own team that I had bonded with slowly died, and Hisui was lost in both name and spirit, and I found myself… Without drive. Peace had been made without my desires, and I am glad that the land I grew up in found it in a much safer way than I ever planned it.”
Volo’s reminiscence was interrupted by Emmet entering his field of vision again, this time gripping the sides of his face so that he could get a straight look at Volo’s nose. “I am Emmet. I want to make sure I didn’t leave lasting damage. I don’t know my own strength.” After a few seconds, Emmet lets go and steps back. “You’ve done something terrible, yup.”
“That’s putting it lightly, Cousin.”
“But!” Emmet raises a finger and continues past Kukui’s interruption. “But, you don’t have anyone left to punish you for it. Everyone you wronged personally is dead. Except for me.” He nods to himself several times, then claps his hands together. “So I’ve decided that your punishment is to help me. Fix your mistake of taking my brother and my wife. If you truly regret your life, then I’ll be the judge.
“And if you don’t follow this through, then I will hunt you down until the day I die. And you know I will.”
Cynthia is currently giving Emmet a look of incredulousness that he hasn’t seen since Ingo told their mother he was raising a Litwick. And in all honesty, that was much more dangerous than what Emmet just confessed to! So Emmet just kept smiling until Cynthia cracked first.
“Emmet, how the hell do you cow a historical figure that sought omnicide?” She asks as she leans forward onto the books she has on the desk. “Please, I need to know if Cyrus ever comes back.”
“It was surprisingly easy, since he wants to help me anyway, yup,” Emmet says, putting a hand on his chin to seem sage before nodding. “Don’t think it will work on an actual Team Leader like that.”
“Just my luck,” Cynthia groans before sitting up. “Ok, so if you genuinely think that Volo is safe to keep around, then… I’m not going to argue. He’ll have 3 Champion level battlers around him.”
Emmet perks up, his eyes widening. “So, you will be joining us? To find Hikari?”
“And get your family back. It’s the least I can do,” she says with a smile, before tenting her fingers and leaning forward, her smile turning into a wily grin.
“Tell me, Emmet. Have you heard of the Azure Flute?”

🤩/💞 + 🧠 (the headcanon being for one you picked for the favorite/comfort character) and also 🥺 and ✨ (sorry if that's too many at once, you don't have to do all of them if you don't want to)
I LOVE TO ANSWER MULTIPLE ONES, DO NOT WORRY!!!! Like if you just sent them all?? Maybe a lil too much 😂 otherwise, absolutely no biggie!!!
Since Legends Arceus is what I'm currently writing for, these will all be PLA related. (Shockingly, I have written for other fandoms in the past! 😂)
🤩 Who is your favorite character to write?
TBQH I am fond of JtR Dawn and Akari. I love Dawn's reckless bullshit and Akari developing a bit more backbone. I feel a bit more freedom writing them, like there's less expectations on getting people's perceptions of them correct, so they tend to come easier.
Fire at Will Akari is almost in first, just because I wrote her first and therefore I adore her most. There is an entire PLA playthrough story in my head, but I've said it before and I'll say it again- that story would absolutely end up being over 100k words and I don't know if I have the time, dedication, and ability for that! Maybe one day...
💞 Who's your comfort character?
Tossup between Akari and Ingo tbh. When I get stressy I start thinking about Fire at Will and writing for that series again 😂 little things... I am very soft towards it. I have many ideas for it still.
Anyway, Akari but only Akari-not-Dawn because... Dawn being Akari is not my personal headcanon, in any way, shape, or form, and I like to imagine Akari being taken from somewhere she knew and fumbling and learning and still being accepted. Maybe not by everyone, but by enough people that she finds comfort and family.
And Ingo because the fandom made me fond of the silly subway man. I don't have a lot of headcanons for him because of,,,, Reasons :) mostly my own concern at people seeing my version of him and coming off rude and "that's not the right way to do Ingo" but 🤷🏼‍♀️ he's fun. I like the amnesia. I like going around in game and like- I've found only one pearl clan member who brings him up. I like to think he's solitary for whatever reason, but meeting the protag (Akari) helps open him up a lil. Literally brings him down the mountain. I like thinking of two people in similar circumstances finding common ground so- yes. Akari and Ingo are my comfort characters for PLA 🙈😅
🧠 Pick a character, and I'll tell you my favorite headcanon for them.
Akari- probably obvious, but my favorite headcanon for her is that Arceus pulled her from an entirely different universe/world that didn't have pokemon. The fact that you can answer "no" to Laventon asking if you know what pokemon are.... delicious.
Ingo- I like to think Ingo is a nickname, actually! I know people have unique names, but I like to headcanon that he's got some really benign, normal name (like- Emmet isn't common but isn't UNCOMMON you know?) and that as a kid, every time I go saw a train he would say "In go! In go!" cause he wanted to get in the train, so his parents started calling him "Ingo" and it's just. What everyone knows him as now. I know several people by their nickname (one guy at work is only known as Squints) and one of my best friends goes by her middle name primarily. Every time I see her email me I get confused before I remember her email is her actual first name. I like to think that very few people know what Ingo's given name is and get confused when anyone requests him by such.
🥺 Is there a certain type of moment or common interaction between your characters that never fails to put you in your feels?
COMFORTING. God, comforting. After injury, or a nightmare, or an argument. Giving apologies and discussing things and ending it with a hug.... I'm such a goddamn sucker for hurt/comfort. I'm so soft. I'm 10 ply. I wanna write angst so I can write the comfort aftermath constantly. Always.
✨ Give you and your writing a compliment. Go on now. You know you deserve it. 😉
(boooo 😂😂) I don't know how to compliment myself. That's not a cry for help, that's the honest truth. I have ✨Issues✨. I will try!
Despite what is probably an excessive use of commas, I am good at writing characters considering their actions and surroundings. I have fun when writing and that's what's most important.
Thank you 💚💚💚

Black Clover as a Deconstruction of the Shonen Heroes Journey
(Readmore break isn’t working for me. Will try to fix later. Press J to skip.)
So, most people have noticed this pattern in Black Clover...
...and, to be fair, so did I, when I first started watching.
I saw the first five or six episodes, went, ‘tHiS iS wIzArD nArUtO,’ then didn’t watch any more for months, until I finally got bored enough to watch the rest for laughs.
And then, of course, I got blown away by the genuine bonds of affection and respect between the characters.
(also, I eventually got used to Asta’s yelling, so that helped).
But, until you put in the time investment, you don’t put the dots together that Black Clover is actually a deconstruction of the Shonen Manga Heroes Journey.
You can see pieces of it in Patri and the Cult of Personality he that built in the Eye of the Midnight Sun.
Though, admittedly, it’s less obvious in Fana, Rhya, and Vetto, who are all blinded by grief to the point where they’ve all but lost any compassion they originally possessed.
Indeed, the entire point of them in the first arc is that they’ve been traumatized enough to invert their personalities completely.
No, this extreme devotion to a single figurehead was best demonstrated in the three main humans in the Eye of the Midnight Sun: Sally, Valtos, and Rades.
The three of them demonstrated fanatical loyalty to Patri: Valtos because he saved him, Sally because he allows her to pursue her passions, and Rades I’m pretty sure it was just because Patri gave him the opportunity to use his magic freely.
This ‘cult of personality’ tactic, of course, is one very often employed by Shonen Protagonists, because it’s much easier than showing the character development necessary to turn an enemy into a genuine ally.
And, while I was committed to seeing the show through unless it got really stupid, there was also a sense. of, ‘oh, now the darkness starts’ when Patri sacrificed his three human followers to further his own plans. That this cold-blooded sacrifice was a part of the plan all along.
Honestly, I think the first place I truly started to have faith in Tabata’s writing was when Rades resurrected himself, Valtos, and Sally. The pieces had all been there from the start. We all knew that his magic was zombie magic.
But It was also patently obvious that those three were sacrificed to demonstrate Patri’s assholeish nature to the audience, and reduce the number of characters, making the logistics of the upcoming fights simpler. So, while I wasn’t happy about the gratuitous death, I had accepted it.
But then Rades said, ‘no, I am the hero of my own story, and my story is about revenge,’ and I cannot tell you how wide I smiled. It wasn’t just Rades saying that, it was Tabata saying that he values his side characters, even the minor 1st arc villains.
Then there’s the Zogratis siblings, the fact that they’re siblings, in the truest sense of the word. They fight together, they rule together, they’re more than capable of executing a multi-pronged attack which must have required extensive planning and teamwork. Even Zenon, the coldest of the three, goes to check on Dante, and saves him from the Black Bulls.
Though we’ve yet to get the full picture, they even seem to have good relationships with their devils. Zenon’s a brick wall, of course, but Dante and Lucifero clearly talk to each other, and Megicula and Vanica openly express affection for one another. From what we’ve seen so far, the Zogratis siblings seem to, at the bare minimum, respect each other and the devils that they host.
They’re still blood knights who would cause the apocalypse for the sake of finding strong opponents, yeah, but wanting ‘to fight strong opponents and help my friends’ has been the primary motive of many an anime protagonist. It just usually gets tempered by common sense and/or compassion.
So, with the major villains at least, they exemplify many of the virtues often given to anime protagonists. Not to say that they don’t have flaws, but their flaws are not those of the typical villain.
In contrast, many of the Heroes in Black Clover possess attributes normally seen in villains.
Consider the Black Bulls: Asta, the Freak of Nature; Noelle the Unfavorite Noble Child; Magna, the Thug; Luck, the Blood Knight; Gauche, the Sexual Deviant; Vanessa, the Drunk; Finral, the Womanizer; Grey, the Shapeshifter; Charmy, the Glutton; Gordon, the Creepy Guy; Zora, the Avenger; Henry the Vampire.
(Also Nacht, the Summoner, though the jury’s still out on him)
Asta’s comrades are all people who easily could have been villains, whether through their powers, their personalities, or simply their trauma.
But they weren’t. And this is at least partly due to another aspect of the series that I admire.
Everyone is special.
Tumblr media
[ID: Emmet from the Lego Move next to a quote reading, “You don’t have to be the bad guy. You are the most TALENTED, most INTERESTING, and most EXTRAORDINARY person in the universe. AND YOU ARE CAPABLE OF AMAZING THINGS. because you are the Special. And so am I. And so is everyone. The prophecy is made up, but it’s also true. It’s about all of us. Right now, it’s about you. And you can still change everything.” end ID]
That is to say, the villains aren’t the only ones to have aspects attributed to the typical shonen protagonist. And neither is Asta, as it turns out. He gets determination, resilience, and compassion, of course, but he’s far from the only one.
In fact, his journey is made far easier by the ‘compassionate protagonists’ who came before him.
Starting as far back as we can in the timeline, we’re left with the Clover Nobles and their xenocide against the elves. Evil, tragic, and it should have never happened. Not to mention, it allowed the Nobles to hoard resources in the form of stolen mana, which they then passed on to their descendants.
But, even after the worst had happened, Nero and Lumiere’s sacrifices eventually led to Zagred’s downfall. (And to the survival of one of Licht and Tetia’s children.)
Then, centuries later, came Zara Ideale. A man who worked tirelessly as the first commoner wizard cop, only to be killed by his elitist comrades in the purple orcas.
This could have led his son, Zora Ideale, down a dark path, but instead he devoted his life to protecting the citizens of the kingdom from the same corrupt magic knights that got his father killed.
And that’s without even mentioning how when Julius Novachrono became Wizard King, he reformed the merit recognition system to mitigate the amount of harm the noble magic knights could do to their commoner comrades’ careers, to prevent what happened to Zara from happening to others. In the present day, multiple magic knight captains (Yami and Jack) are commoners, as are many of the magic knights in general.
Not to mention Yami, in particular, formed a squad out of outcasts, to provide the support system that he never had as a young man.
And all of this happened before the main character has even started on his heroes journey.
I could say a lot more words about how this demonstrates Tabata’s recognition of the fact that many of the problems with the Homestuck Quadrant Kingdoms are systemic, and that they won’t be solved with only a few good people working against them, which is why Asta still has a lot to do in his own quest to be Wizard King.
...but really, what I wanted to do was say that, after reading the 267 leaks, it doesn’t surprise me one bit that AMD may be a better person than previously implied by the manga.
(heck, they did the same thing with Zora, when he was introduced).
Even though AMD seems motivated by a need for vengeance, is undeniably prone to fits of blackout rage, appears altogether too interested in possessing Asta’s body, and these are, indeed, traits that fit more with the aesthetic of a villain... I’m pretty sure AMD’s got the traumatic backstory of a true anime protagonist.
As I’ve said before, simply having an aspect typically attributed to a hero does not automatically mean AMD will be a fully heroic character. But, as was mentioned before, he also has a lot of common villainous traits.
And in Black Clover, a character with a villain archetype will more often than not side with and/or join the Black Bulls.

Im gonna do something crazy,, Submas plus what ever characters you wanna write request aka deals choice
Their (ether soon to be or already ) S/o falling asleep on them after a long day?
If I’m correct, falling asleep/getting sleepy around someone is a often a sign of trust with humans in general. It’s kinda like “hey, im so comfortable around you, Im gonna fall asleep!” Plus, it’s when their defenses are down. At least, I think it shows trust lol
Oh! I actually do this, my anxiety makes my insomnia act up so when I get comfortable around someone and they keep talking I relax and I’m not use to that so I fall asleep, perfect request!
Asks are open!
-
-
🔲Ingo🔲
- When you came home after a long day he was more than happy to accommodate you on the couch with him.
- He gently strokes your head and places soft kisses on your forehead.
- If you want to vent he is all ears.
- If not he is happy to sit in silence.
- If you ask him to talk he goes on about how his day was. Maybe even something funny about something Emmet did.
- When you stopped responding he looks over and sees you cuddling his arm and snoozing away.
- He holds a tender expression.
- You’re so cute.
- He is beyond happy you trust him so much.
- He won’t move you two. Maybe only into a more comfortable position, but he will stay on the couch with you until you wake up.
- He treasures this delicate moment.
🔳Emmet🔳
- instantly picks up on the exhausted and drags you down onto the couch.
- Probably playing a video game before you finally came home.
- Showers you with his usual affection and has you sit next to him while he plays.
- Wants to hear about your day but if you don’t want to that’s fine.
- In the middle of him battling a boss he feels weight on his arm.
- He pauses his game and looks over.
- Instantly cooing softly.
- You’re so cute and precious!
- He feels so happy you love him so much!
- Moves you just a bit so your head is in his lap.
- He lowers the tv’s volume just a bit and keeps playing.
- And winning!
- You’re such a good luck charm.
🌖Nanu🌓
- Absolutely same.
- Then again he is always tired.
- You flop on the couch with him. Both of your are leaning against each other.
- Day has been exhausting.
- He keeps his voice low cause he feels himself getting drowsy.
- He doesn’t until he asked if you wanted to move to go sleep in bed.
- When Nanu sees you’re asleep his heart melts.
- You trust him that much?
- He doesn’t feel worth it but he can’t change how you feel.
- He accepts his fate and sleeps on the couch with you.
