I don’t know if this makes any sense to you, but I’ve been having thoughts about Steve and Eddie, as characters, (I mean who am I kidding, they live rent free in my mind now) and I’ve noticed a conceptual parallel between both of them that I can’t unsee now.
I’ve read several analyses and opinions about how Eddie was created and inserted in the story as some sort of substitute for Steve because they needed his death for Dustin’s arch, but they didn’t really want to kill Steve because he’s one of the series’ icons now. This has been used in the show several times now, with Barb’s death, and Bob’s, and Billy’s, so I buy it (if I think that it’s a lazy resource to make your characters evolve or if it’s lacking originality when you do it four times now, is something I won’t approach here, ahem). It fucked me up because I rewatched the last season a couple times now and I see it. I can’t not see it anymore. I can see the conceptual similarities (the age, the fact that he’s some sort of outsider to the group, the reputation, Dustin’s undeniable affection and respect…) but there is a particular feature that I noticed recently that has broken me, because it’s so fucking meta.
Speaking in general terms of course, most people I know that have watched the show like Steve, but they didn’t like him in S1, which, understandable; the writing in S1 didn’t make it easy for the audience to stand by him. Steve’s got several characters against him (Barb is the sweet victim, Mike is a clear protagonist, Jonathan is the direct rival as a love interest for Nancy), and if those characters, that are written and shown to be reliable, you instantly believe them, that he’s King Steve, that he’s a jerk. He goes with Carol and Tommy that are straight up bullies, he makes questionable decisions about how to face certain situations (such as breaking Jonathan’s camera [that I know it’s controversial, but personally, I totally, totally get why he did it], the slut thing in the cinema board, the fist fight…) so yeah, it’s easy that you go along with the thinking that he’s sort of not worth it. But here’s the thing, Steve spends the whole season trying to make up for his mistakes, trying to fix what he broke. He buys Jonathan a brand new camera, he confronts and ditches his so-called friends and actually goes to apologize to Jonathan, and then to Nancy. So what we have here is what it is said about Steve vs. what Steve really does. Even at last, when he had the chance to run for his life, he came back to the house to do the right thing. Steve is a great guy, but he’s written for the audience not to think so.
They changed their minds in S2, apparently, when the writers made him more layered, more likable, and the audience lost their minds. He was absolutely loved now, a favorite. A sweetheart. A romantic tragedy. And they kept all those features in S3, but giving him tons of lines and screen time, and an iconic outfit, and making him the biggest ally in the whole show, and now you’re trapped because you love him.
But you see, loving him was a journey. The audience went from finding him kind of annoying, or straight not liking him to fall head over heels for Steve.
And the writers, bless their souls/fuck all of them, mimicked that affection journey in S4 with Eddie Munson, using Steve Harrington as a catalyst.
You see, Eddie has this very same dichotomy of what people think of him vs what he really does, the only difference here, the major one, is that the people who speak ill of him are not protected by the writing. So you, as a member of an audience, embrace the fact that what the whole town says about him is not true, and that he’s a good guy. They fast forward the whole process by setting Mike and Dustin by their side, that the whole Eddie tragedy is a simple wrong time, wrong place. I mean, there’s no way you can go wrong about judging Eddie’s character.
And here’s where it gets interesting.
Steve rejects the blind trust.
Steve doesn’t like him.
Steve listens to the rumors.
Steve calls him the freak.
But the season goes on and bless his soul he starts paying attention to what Eddie does, to who Eddie is, and ends up pretty easily rejecting what the whole town feels towards him. Because he sees him now.
Because he’s been there.
It is such a wholesome phenomenon when you realize that Steve, who at first was reluctant to find him, gets protective of him, out of mere empathy. He never gets angry at him, or mistreats him in any way; if so, he brings him beer and cigarettes, he worries about him leaving Skull Rock since all Hawkins is after his ass now.
He cares.
And god, he even thanks him at the Upside Down woods. He doesn’t thank Nancy, or Robin. He thanks Eddie, because he knew that back in the boat, Eddie didn’t have to jump into the water for him, the same way he didn’t have to go back to the Byers’ house once he saw the Christmas lights violently flickering, because in any way that was his business.
So he thanks Eddie, probably because Steve thinks that it would have been nice that someone actually thanked him to save Nancy and Jonathan’s asses instead of getting a relationship out of pity that ended up with him dumped a year later and a bunch of issues.
The season goes on and they talk it out, they both admit having believed what people said of them, but now that they know each other, they can actually see how wrong they were. They make a fresh start, and the story seems to get to the right point, the way it should have been between them if it weren’t for the absurd jealousy pretext.
Now they both align with how the audience is feeling.
So, you see the parallelism here. Steve’s behavior towards Eddie was a straight up reflection of the emotional journey the audience had towards Steve.
And this probably wasn’t intentional, since the writers didn’t know for sure how much love and admiration Eddie was gonna get before s4 was released, but the fun part here is that it is quite difficult to find someone who loves Eddie Munson that hasn’t loved Steve Harrington before. The process of falling for those two is exactly the same, and most fans probably are not aware that they have gone through the same emotional journey twice. And it makes sense, because it is familiar. But whether or not you are aware of this, after they enter the Upside Down, Eddie and Steve are linked together, and that you know, even if you really don’t know why. They are impossible to untangle.
So yeah, absolutely, beyond the screen time together and the undeniably flirty behaviors, their chemistry, their journey and their young history, steddie makes sense.
So, when they make Steve a vulnerable mess, expressing that his only wish as a character is to love and be loved in return, and have a future, they go and kill Eddie. And it’s heartbreaking, because he’s a character with orphan needs and desires, and he didn’t even get the chance to fight for himself, and no, I don’t mean the demobats.
And in a deep part of our brains we fear for Steve, because they’re in an unfinished war, and Eddie’s fate could easily be Steve’s in s5.
But you see, what is absolutely mindblowing about this fandom is the fact that here is where they picked up and made something incredible. For months we have been rewriting, consuming and creating thousands of universes in which Eddie gets what he deserves, that is, a happy ending, not only that he lives, but that he ends up being happy.
If this is too much of a projection about the fear of Steve getting killed in s5, that I don’t know; what I know is that I’m not at all worried.
I know we can make it better.

Au idea I'll probably never write:
Steve as seven au, BUT he escapes at the same time as El in season 1. They get separated after Benny's, when seven tells eleven to run and definitely kills a couple government agents to give her more time.
So the a plot of will being missing and Mike finding El? Standard canon except El is ALSO looking for her brother and is worried about him. She sees that he's mostly safe and tries to help find will but also insists she go to her brother soon.
B plot of barb and Nancy...idk I haven't really thought about how that'd work without Steve's kickback. Maybe they go to a party (like actual party not the five person hangout) together and get separated and no one notices barb disappear from the edge of the lawn. Idk
The C plot is seven, kinda bloody and definitely cold, wandering out into the middle of the street, and one Robin Buckley almost running him over with her bike. She immediately clocks "guy who seems pretty fucked up" about him, and offers him a ride to her house. But Robin has never been the most coordinated of people and biking with a(admittedly probably too skinny) teenage boy sitting in her package rack is hard, and combine that with a guy driving like the devil's after him, they end up swerving of the road.
Eddie steps out, apologizes profusely, and offers them a ride. seven is sceptical, especially when both of them pause when he tells them his name, but does end up in the van. He finally gets a chance to breathe once they get to the Buckleys', and Robin gets him some leftovers.
He sits in front of the tv set to a blank station, tucks his head into his shirt instead of blindfolds, and tries to see El.
He sees her older, with flowers braided through long hair, laughing. Too far. He sees her with short curls, a patterned button down, eating something in a cone beside a mustachioed man. Too far again. He sees her tiny, scared, holding his own small hand. Not far enough.
Finally, finally, he sees her as she knows her now, mostly, standing beside a group of children and in front of a monster in a large room.
Eddie and Robin have no idea why their new friend? Has turned the tv on to static and is hiding in his shirt, but figure he's had a rough day. He pops his head back out, blood dripping from his nose, and grins, telling them he knows where his sister will be.
Anyways blah blah blah El sees where people ARE Steve sees where people have been/will be (based on where/who they are right now. Futura is constantly in motion etc).
Idk season 2 would happen very similar as canon minus stancy break up (they never date and are just friends) (also Steve tells Robin and Eddie he and El are safe and they pass it on to the kids) El finds Kali, Steve fights demodogs, etc etc.
But I want a (pre?) season 3 scene where Robin and Steve are hanging out as soulmates do, door closed because they are discussing Sensitive Subjects (gay shit) and giggling like schoolgirls. Hopper, in all his disappointed dad glory, opens the door and starts in on a rant about keeping the door open three inches.
Steve, bitch that he is, just tilts his head to the side and says "but that is for when we are with people we date. I am not dating Robin."
Hopper, not yet picking up what's happening, sighs. "Kid. It's about propriety. You can't be alone with Robin, because what if you do start dating. Then it's. You have to set an example for El!"(it would be a nice move bringing up Older Brother Responsibility, except...well.)
"but we aren't. I am dating someone else?"
"still need the door open three inches, pal. When El is home, at least"(El is almost always home)
"we do! And you complain about the loud music!"
"wait. Who are you dating? I thought Nancy was dating Jonathan still. She barely comes over." Hopper please pick up what Steve is putting down oh my god.
(hop has forgotten Robin is there and she is trying very hard not to make noise but Steve keeps meeting her eye sometimes because dear god. truly an iconic moment in friendship history.)
"yeah obviously. Eddie comes over all the time, though."
"what does Ed- oooh. Ah. I see. That's why you keep the door open even though he complains."
Steve nods like Hopper is the dumbest man on the planet. He might just be. "Yes. Because you said El had to and she asked why I didn't have to so then I started to leave it open when Eddie was over. At least Eddie doesn't laugh at you to your face"
"Eddie laughs behind my back?"
"he said you didn't know we were dating but I told him of course you knew, the door is open three inches."
Hopper clasps Steve's shoulders and looks him in the eye. "Steve, I need you to keep telling him that. And not mention this very awkward conversation we had."
"because he was right."
"he doesn't need to know that."
That's all I got lmao (also check the tag ramble I added lol)

Top Hat's thoughts on the FNAF movie (Spoilers)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I thoroughly enjoyed it! Smiled throughout the whole thing
As a FNAF fan, seeing some key moments from the games as well as acknowledging the fandom (e.g Game theory's MatPat and The Living Tombstone's iconic song at the credits) made my jaw drop
FNAF veterans such as Dawko enjoyed it so that made me optimistic
The animatronics were replicated perfectly and the entire set for the restaurant is just too beautiful
Scenes such as the break-in, while not exactly scary, were still intense enough to keep me invested
Unpopular opinion - I kinda liked the pillow fort scene, it was cheesy but it could be seen as the animatronics trying to gain Abby's trust to lure her to be stuffed into a suit. Also I'm jealous, i wanna make a pillow fort with them 😭
And here's where I'll address (some of) the main critiques people gave to the movie (references: anything in the media that would link to this in a way)
"The movie wasn't scary at all, it should've been gory"
Yeah, I agree, even though I got shocked a couple of times (like the balloon boy gag) it wasn't really terrifying
But honestly, after watching countless "playthroughs" as a kid, you start to realise... The games were never that scary in the first place
To be honest, the only thing scary about it was actually some areas in the fandom (you know who you are..)
I'm aware that FNAF was never for kids, no matter how many elsagate vids were made on it. So it would make sense for it to have blood and gore. It definitely would've made scenes like the spring lock scene more traumatising to look back at
You know what else was expected to be more adult oriented? Cuphead's Netflix adaptation. While I understand that both of these beloved franchises could've been adapted to be more adult, it can also be noted that the Cuphead show is actually accepted by the fandom as while it did have a rocky start with S1, it showed that the writers were testing the waters to try something new, and by S2, they had a better idea of what they wanted, and a lot of people fell in love with it. While it would've definitely been cool to see more gore, it wouldn't improve the movie automatically
"The movie doesn't follow the original lore"
While, yes, it would've been cool to see all theories confirmed by Scott himself during the film, it's also good to remember this: they're called "adaptations" for a reason
Many popular franchises, when adapted to the big/small screen can experience changes in the known story and lore as a way to bring this fresh new start and perspective, they never aim to continue or tell the story again when it wasn't necessary in the first place (*cough cough* Lion King 2019). Last time I checked: Luigi wasn't the one who gets kidnapped by Bowser (SMB23), Cuphead never lost the right to his soul due to a carnival game (TCS), The Echidnas never had beef with freaking owls over the master emerald (The Sonic movies)
Let's be honest here, Scott may have made FNAF, but all the popular fan theories wrote the story, so everything is kinda messy. Maybe this was Scott's chance to rewrite everything, to start over and stray away from the messy lore that others made, MatPat seemed to be cool with it, he was even in the damn movie!
While, there have been times when repeating the same story makes it stale and repetitive (Disney), Changing important elements of the story (Also Disney) can make it unfaithful and pointless, so I understand that.
The changes that were made in this movie were interesting, making Vanessa, Afton's daughter could add more impact on the whole Vanny thing as she's been around this horrible man her whole life. Not making Mike, Abby and Garrett, Afton's children doesn't really deepen the personal connection and conflict between Mike and Afton so it'll be interesting to see how that one goes especially with Circus Baby now that Abby has no real connection to Afton other than that one encounter
Also I heard from one review that the movies take more inspiration from the books, but I don't have enough knowledge on the books to elaborate on that argument
Unless there's some weird twist, which is highly unlikely, I'd love to see how they develop these newly established dynamics if there are sequels being planned (pls make more, I need to see how this goes)
Besides, like I said, often, the first movies, seasons etc are there to experiment, it has the potential to improve in each new installment. For example, JJBA, it took until around parts 3-4 for Araki to have a better idea of what he wanted it to be.
Conclusion
That's about all I really have to say. I understand that many had high expectations going in and, who wouldn't? It shows we value ourselves and that we want to experience things that are worth our time. People are not obligated to love everything and don't have to agree with everything I said. I personally found the movie to be enjoyable and worth my time, and, while i know it lacked in some aspects, who knows?, as it progresses, opinions could change and if we get more of the revamped FNAF, then, we could see if it changed for the better or for the worse. And while first impressions do matter, it won't always be the same impression moving forward (for people who liked and didn't like the movie)
Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk!

Mike's "Will Voice". - An Essay by me.
If you’re a byler you know about the “Will Voice '' . But if you somehow don’t or you’re new, the “Will Voice" is the voice that Mike uses when he is talking to Will and ONLY Will. Normally Mike is a little abrasive and defensive to most people when he is talking to them. But when talking to Will, his voice is soft and quiet, just above a whisper, gentle.
Before we get into it, I think you should just know that the “Will voice” isn’t just something Byler’s made up! The directors tell Finn (the actor that plays Mike) to use a “special voice” when talking to Noah (The actor that plays Will) when filming.
DISCLAIMER - i actually didnt think this was going to be this long so sorry in advance but here are my thought i hope you enjoy! i love you!
“It was a seven, the Demogorgon. It got me.” - Season 1
One of the VERY FIRST SCENES in the show is Mike using his “Mike voice” Even if he really doesn't have to say anything at all. After Karen tells everybody to leave and all of the boys are hopping on their bikes to go home, Will is the only one left behind with Mike. Will admits to Mike that in the campaign they're playing, the Demogorgon got to him and killed him.
Something about this scene is just so…. The look of understanding, the nod. Mike is just more gentle with will than anyone else.
Right before this he was just arguing will Dustin about weather his sister is cool or not but with Will it’s different.
Unfortunately, since Will really isn’t in the whole rest of the season, because yknow he’s in a whole other dimension there aren't a lot of other scenes where Mike is using his “Will voice” However, Mike was the person who wanted to find will the most behind maybe Joyce. Saying that he “was the only one who cared about Will”, so that is something.
“Crazy together.” - Season 2
In my opinion, season 2 is like beak soft byler. The first season 2 byler moment was..
The Arcade Scene
As soon as Mike snaps Will out of his trance, his vision, whatever you want to call it, he goes right back to Will's comforting voice and tries to make it feel better and distracts him with a dig dug.
In the next episode, it Halloween. And we ALL know what happened on Halloween night of 1987.
Will’s episode on halloween
When Will has a bad vision, who is the first name he calls? Mike. Not Lucas, Not Dustin, not even Max. Mike. Not anyone else but Mike. And who was the first one to find Will and the first one to comfort him? Micheal Fucking Wheeler. And he was using the same soft voice he always does when talking to Will, barley over a whisper. Not to mention that Mike wouldn't let anyone touch Will but himself after Will snapped out of his episode.
Talk in Mike’s Basement Scene
After Will had this awful episode, Mike takes Will and only Will back to his house. Will rambles and rants about how he feels stuck and Mike? He is attentive, sweet, listening, letting him get all of his words out. I’ve noticed with other people Mike can come off like he’s abrasive and harsh but with Will he is nothing close to that.
In this conversation also consists of Mike helping Will express his feeling by finishes his sentences for him when he just can’t get his words out. In the few times Mike does speak, he does not break out of the gentle voice and literally never breaks his gaze from Will, not once.
EVEN WHEN MIKE TALKS ABOUT EL HE TALKS IN HIS WILL VOICE. AND THE ONLY REASON MIKE BROUGHT UP EL WAS FOR WILL’S BENEFIT.
And then the most iconic Byler line in Stranger Things history, “If we’re both going crazy, we’ll go crazy together, right?” “Yeah, crazy together.” So gentle, so sweet, so wholesome.
The hallway scene
Mike immediately notices something off with Will and has to make sure everything is okay.
Side note: even when Will isn't with Mike and the party, Mike will literally do anything he can to help Will. That’s his only priority at the moment.
Will’s bedroom scene
Even when Will is talking about “Him” Mike still reminds him that Will is a good person, calling him a “super spy” Mike is doing absolutely anything he can to comfort Will and make him feel any better. (P.s. this moment is so wholesome I love it.)
And then the “yeah, yeah I really do” The PRIME example of “Will Voice” The gentleness, the voice, the look, the nod, the reassurance, AND THEN THE REACH FOR THE HAND.
Hospital Scene (Will wakes up)
Will wakes up and Mike is obviously right there (‘cause he slept in the chair next to the bed, WHICH IS LIKE MY FAVORITE BYLER MOMENT OF ALL TIME) and asks if Will is “hurting again”, Mike keeps his eyes steady on Will. His only focus is Will right now. He keeps his voice soft and he asks will things to make sure he understands and that he is hearing what Will is going through right now.
Mike recalling how they met
Even though the poor boys voice is shaky because he is literally trying (and failing) to hold back tears, it’s still soft and reassuring.
“It’s not my fault you don't like girls!” -Season 3
The movie theater scene
This scene is one of my favs from Season 3. Mike is the first and only person to realize something is off with Will and say something to make sure he’s okay. The "you okay?” and “you sure?” are so gentle and soft. It reminds me a lot of someone jumping at a scary part in a movie and their partner wrapping their arm around them and asking if they’re okay.
NOT TO MENTION THE NOT SO SUBTLE LIP GLANCES.
(Also the little gay panic Will has after Mike ask if he’s okay and the blush on Mike’s cheeks before)
The scene right before the fight scene
Mike immediately notices Will is upset after Mike makes his “joke” and he goes back to his voice that always gets Will and tries to convince him that they (him and Lucas) do really want to finish the campaign.
The fight scene
Mike IMMEADLEY goes back to his will voice after he drops the bomb shell because he know he fucked up and he did it BIG TIME. The big difference between Mike’s “Will Voice” in Season 2 and Season 3 is that in Season 2 he was really using that voice with Will because he knew that it was comforting to him but now in season 3 he uses it because he knows Will will fall for it.
(Also you know how Max says to El that Mike will come crawling back to El in no time? The only person he came crawling back to apologizing was Will.)
“Get away from the door” Scene
@myname1sca1 brought up a great point! The scene where Max is trying talk to Billy through the door, Will has a feeling that “He’s here” and Mike turns and say to Max to get away from the door a=in a gentle, quiet, soft voice and when she doesn't listen, he turns away from will at screaming at her do get away from the door. He was only using that voice because he was looking at Will and dropped that voice as soon as he looked away.
The “Not possible” Scene
Toward the end of season 3, Mike realizes that he was being (in his own words) an asshole the whole season and starts caring about Will again. And when Will comes out and puts his box of D&D on the donate box, the thing he has loved since forever, Mike makes sure that he knows he is giving it away.
Will knows he’ll just use Mike’s when he visits the won’t join another party. That’s not possible.
(Plus the look on Mikes face after Will says “not possible” is adorable.)
"I didn't say it." "You didn't have to."
Will's bedrooms scene
OMFG THIS SCENE
Immediately Mike is relaxed. His voice low and calm and he lightheaded. The "You didn't have to" AND THE SMILE. This is a COMPLETE contrast to has he is around El in this part of the season. When with her, he is all tease and feel like he can never say the right thing.
Also, the absolute adoration for Will in his voice. When he says "It's Hawkins, it's not the same without you."
You can also really tell that Mike is really confiding in Will and letting his guard down which he never really does with anyone. Including El. Especially with the whole line "I don't know what's going to happen next." And if you know Mike Wheeler he never tells ANYONE that he is wrong or that he doesn't know what's going on. So, the fact that he feels comfortable enough with Will is something.
"But you make her feel better for being different." Season 4, Vol 2
"We have to Kill him." "And we will." Scene
The MOMENT Mike finds out that Will can feel that 001 is there, he jumps back into being his reassuring, gentle self for Will. This scene reminds me a lot of the "Yeah, Yeah i really do scene for season 2.
OMG WE ARE DONE, if you made it through all of that, I love you so much. If you want to see more things like this PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE let me know because i love writing essays about Byler analysis!

I'm trying to get into comics, any recommendations?
I'm a DC girl so this list is gonna be very DC heavy, sorry.
DC
All-Star Superman by Grant Morrison and Frank Quitely: The book that made me a Superman fan. Beautiful, joyful, self-contained story.
The Flash by Mark Waid: Will make you a Flash fan. Some of the first comics I ever read come from this run. The original run is collected in omnibus format but Mark had a second, shorter run from around 98-2000 that wrapped up a lot of loose ends, and another one around 2008. Those are good too.
The New Teen Titans by Marv Wolfman and George Perez: This book probably saved DC, and it's a wonderful read.
Batman by Scott Snyder: One of the best modern Batman runs, although it suffers from the stink of the New 52 at times.
52 by Mark Waid, Greg Rucka, Grant Morrison, Geoff Johns, and Keith Giffen: Might need some onboarding for this one but it's a great read focusing on some of the second-string characters in the DCU and a triumph of collaborative storytelling. Its spinoff Booster Gold series is great too.
Kingdom Come by Mark Waid and Alex Ross: A surprisingly-accessible refutation of the 1990s trend towards darker and edgier superheroes, it's a must-read for the beautiful painted artwork alone.
Mister Miracle and Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, both by Tom King: Tom King's had some big misses, especially Heroes in Crisis, for which as a Wally West fan I should want his blood. He makes up for it when he hits, though. These two titles are his best work.
Secret Six by Gail Simone: A great off-beat title revolving around a small group of supervillains trying to do good. Wish they'd bring this concept back tbh.
DC: The New Frontier by Darwyn Cooke: A love letter to the Silver Age of Comics with gorgeous artwork. Was later adapted into an animated film, which is also very good.
Dwayne McDuffie's original Milestone Comics (incl. Icon, Hardware, and Static), are all very good titles focusing specifically on Black heroes. McDuffie also had a great run on Justice League of America from 2007 to 2009.
Justice League International by Keith Giffen, J. M. DeMatteis, and Kevin Maguire: A great and hilarious book that offers a much more lighthearted take on the DC Universe. There's a lot of focus on more obscure and minor characters which I always enjoy.
Doom Patrol by Grant Morrison and Rachel Pollock: If you've seen the TV show, it cribs heavily from this. A lovely series featuring a group of misfits trying to find their way in the world.
Jack Kirby's Fourth World: Brilliant, esoteric, at times close to incomprehensible. A must-read.
The Question by Dennis O'Neil: A wonderfully cerebral and philosophical series. Denny left reading recs in every issue! See also his run on Green Lantern/Green Arrow, which is a bit outdated but still electrifyingly political for its time, and his seminal run on the Batman titles.
Marvel
Uncanny X-Men by Chris Claremont: One of the greatest comic book runs of all time. Largely defined the X-Men for several generations basically until the Krakoa era. Most X-Men stories on the "greatest of all time" list come from this run.
Vision by Tom King: Hey, it's Tom King again! He wrote for Marvel too. This one's a really good character piece featuring a character who often doesn't get to stand on his own.
Daredevil by Mark Waid: The best Daredevil run, hands down.
The Amazing Spider-Man by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko: The original Spider-Man run is still my favorite. Some great Silver Age nonsense combined with great character drama is what put Marvel on the map, and it's on full display here.
Runaways by Brian K. Vaughan and Adrian Alphona: A really good series that's mostly self-contained about a bunch of kids who run away from home after discovering that their parents are supervillains.
Fantastic Four by Mark Waid and Mike Wieringo: I sing Waid's praises a lot, but damn can he write. The best run for Marvel's First Family.
Others
Bone by Jeff Smith: An epic fantasy adventure starring three cartoon funny animal characters. My favorite comic of all time.
Usagi Yojimbo by Stan Sakai: Another epic starring funny animals, this time set in the Edo period of Japan. Mostly episodic, so it's really easy to jump into.
Astro City by Kurt Buseik: Another love letter to the Silver Age, and to superheroes in general. Essential reading.

He's A Pirate - Pirate! Eddie Munson x Mermaid! Reader
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Summary: Captain Eddie is traveling for the seven seas with his first mate Steve Harrington and their crew, but to reach the treasure island they've been looking for about four years now, they have to go through The Mermaids Bay on a Blood Moon night which many legends are told about. That sounds dangerous, doesn't it?
Warnings: mention of drinking, (h/l) = hair lenght, (h/c) hair colour, (e/c) = eye colour.
A/N: Hey there, my Eddie loving fellas! This is my first fics ever about Stranger Things and Eddie Munson ofc hahah. I want to make this a mini serie, so please let me know if you want part 2.
*Comments and reblogs are appreciated!*
Tumblr media
The wind blew harder than usual, pushing itself against the white sails which were light orange because of the light of the Blood Moon which could be made out of the blood of all the sailors who were captured by the mermaids a lot of legends told about.
But Captain Eddie didn't believe a word of those silly legends!
He was just standing there, proudly point his sharped sword towards the horizon to announce anyone who dared to get in his way his arrival.
"Together we will conquer every island, fighting the most dangerous creatures the world can provide and finally, I, Captain Edward Munson, will be the king of the seven seas!" He repeated his iconic line.
"You told this about a thousand times today." First mate Steve Harrington complained before to take a sip from his rum bottle. "You should cut it off repeating that childish line all day long." He added.
"But people should know who's soon gonna rule them all." Eddie jumped down from his spot.
"You told this about a thousand times, too." Steve took one more sip as he was slowly beginning to forget what patience was.
"You're gonna thank me once we'll get to put our precious hands on that freaking treasure." He looked through his telescope to scan the horizon once again which caused Steve to roll his eyes at him.
In the meantime, their crew mates, Dustin, Mike, Lucas, Gareth, Jeff, an unnamed freak and their new addition Erika, Lucas' younger sister, were sitting on some barrels to discuss about the treasure they had been looking for about four years.
"What do you think those old folks put in that old wooden chest?" Dustin asked his mates.
"Gold coins?" Will suggested.
"Jewerly?" Mike added.
"Pearl necklaces?" Jeff suggested.
"That's jewerly, too." Dustin whispered and Jeff pulled an 'oh...' face at him.
"More maps to find more treasures?" was Erika's theory.
"That would be too silly of them." Lucas immediantly contradicted his sister.
"These are all good theories, but first we have to find this chest to find out." Gareth reminded. "We've been navigating for about four years now and nothing to be found yet."
"We should ask Eddie about that." Erika spotted Eddie talking to Steve, probably both drunks already, before to get up her way to go to her captain.
Everyone nodded in agreement and got up from their barrels to march to their captain and his first mate.
"Excuse me, long haired freaking captain." Erika spoke, making sure to catch Eddie's attention.
Eddie turned to the girl. "Yes, Sinclair?"
"How long is it gonna take before we find this 'treasure' island?" She gestured open brackets. "Is that even real?"
"Well, all the retired captains I confronted before to sail told me that the treasure island should be right behind the corner..."
A smile of relief begun to appear on their faces.
"... but not before we pass The Mermaids Bay." He finished.
"M-m-mermaids?" Jeff was shivering like a leaf, clutching to Dustin, who begun to shiver as well. "B-b-bay?" He tried to finish.
"Yeah, what about that?" Eddie raised an eyebrow at the two scared little mouses.
"Legends say that all the sea dogs that tried to sail this dark bay..." Jeff begun.
"... were put under a spell by the mermaids singing which leaded them to fall in the trap, with their whole crew and ship, elaborated by these beautiful, but dangerous creatures." Dustin continued.
"And they were never ever seen again." Jeff finished, giving everyone a serious look.
Eddie stared at them concerned for a moment... before to burst into a fit of laughs.
"What's funny?" Dustin asked him. "Yeah, it's a true story!" Jeff specified.
"Yeah..." A tear escaped from Eddie's eye which he quickly wiped away with his index finger. "And I believe it." Eddie kept laughing, slapping his knees before to begin hold his stomach which was twisting for the laughs.
Steve stared at his captain and then stared at the kids. "Tonight is gonna be the night of The Blood Moon, too."
The kids, most likely Dustin and Jeff, begun to panic and pronunced 'Oh, it's really late! We're going to bed! 'Night!' as an excuse to run lower deck to hide and the others followed them behind; Lucas, who was most of the time the cold-blooded of the crew, panicked as well and grabbed his sister by the hand to drag her away with them.
Eddie and Steve were now alone.
"Well, I guess I'm going to sleep, too." Steve faked a yawn and took a last sip before to pass the now empty bottle to Eddie, wishing him a good night and head his way to bed.
Now Eddie was pretty much alone. He already planned to stay awake, though, so he knew he would be.
He took control of the helm after grabbing a new bottle of rum for himself; he insisted it helped him to concentrate though Steve told him tons of times it wasn't a good thing to do because it wouldn't take a long time for hum to crash against a rock.
Steve even made a bet on that and sweared on Dustin's mother he would celebrate, drinking all the bottles himself, if he won.
The fog begun to cover his view, so he couldn't see a thing, but he could hear a beautiful enchanting voice coming from afar.
At first, he simply tried to ignore it, taking a few more sips of rum as he believed it was just his mind playing tricks on him, but it was just too captivating to resist; he dropped the anchor, so he could leave the helm to go see what was happening.
Through the fog, he could barely spot a female figure with a human bust and a fishy tail, lying on a rock.
As it begun to fade away, he could see it better: it was a beautiful woman with (h/l) (h/c), enchanting (e/c) and a sparkly and scaly tail; her beautiful figure was highlighted by the red moonlight.
'For my uncle's golden teeth...' he though to himself, 'so... beautiful.' An enchanted smile grew on his lips; he had never seen such a beauty in his whole life.
Her hair looked just silky and soft to stroke, her tail was pretty interesting to examinate and her eyes seemed to talk to him.
Her glossed lips seemed to tune the same captivating melody he heard earlier.
The boys, Erika and Steve were hiding their faces under their pillows as her voice didn't sound as tunful in their ears as it sounded in Eddie's.
The woman jumped from the rock and seemed to be swimming to another one, closer to the ship.
"Hello there, sailor." She looked into Eddie's chocolate brown eyes as deep as the ocean with no shame.
"Hi..." He was a bit shyer, but kept eye contact with her as he managed to fall under her spell, enchanted by her beauty.
He couched to clear his throat and boldly introduced himself. "I'm Eddie Munson, Captain Eddie Munson."
"Oh, what a lovely name you've got there, Captain. My name's (Y/n)."
"Nice to meet you, little mermaid."
She shyly chuckled as her cheeks slighty heated up.
He was about to reach out her hand and so she was, when...
"Eddie!"
Dustin's voice seemed to be calling him and he was pulled back to reality.
"Eddie!" Dustin's eyes expressed all his worry. "We though you fell under the mermaids' spell!" His eyes looked like he was about to cry.
"Sorry, I..." Eddie tried to explain, but Steve cut him off.
"No time to explain. You should get a bit of rest. I'll be at the helm for tonight." He gently pushed him lower deck with the kids so they would make sure he would get some rest.
For all the time, Eddie could think of nothing, but that beautiful mermaid he met; was that only a dream or was it real?

Okay- so I've seen SHB (super horror bro) do a review of the new Bendy content we got today, and I've recorded it with my friends as well. I've also seen a few other opinions and I'm gonna give mine:
First of all, this new content was sort of a game? Very unfinished and I think the point was to showcase more of what was to come with a tease and some game announcements.
I will agree with Halfusek on this: Mike Mood is a cunt and definitely kept this unfinished on purpose because he's a bitter bitch about the fans and all the data miners and theorists
However, I think TheMeatly is trying his hardest to keep people in the fandom happy with new games and fresh ideas. I'm very excited for B3NDY and Silent City personally, because I want to know more about GENT and their role in making Bendy and Dudley and the colored ink. It's all too shrouded for it not to be suspicious.
I liked what we got, because it'll hold us over until THE CAGE comes out and it keeps us on our toes. Just because something was a flop now doesn't mean the future content will flop. We just have to have patience and see what happens.
No matter what, I am staying in this fandom. This is a home to me and where I met all the friends I've come to know and love. I have my au's, I have my characters, and no one's opinion is gonna change that no matter how large of an icon they are in a fandom.
TLDR: The new content was a little underwhelming, but we have new games to look forward to. I will remain in the fandom despite harsh opinions from others.

Alright here's part 2 (or part 3 maybe?)
Tumblr media
I think its scientifically impossible to fuck up Scrooges design because its just so iconic. I mean the gold hat might be a bit much but I like the jet pack.
Tumblr media
.......Oh my God.
NEXT TIME ON LION KING Z!!! SIMBA HAS ONLY FIVE MINUTES TO DEFEAT SCAR BEFORE THE PRIDE LANDS EXPLODE! IN ORDER TO STOP SCAR, HE WILL HAVE TO USE THE CIRCLE OF LIFE BALL!!! CAN HE FORM IT IN TIME? FIND OUT TODAY!!!
I can't even MOVING ON.
Tumblr media
You know at first I thought they gave her a scythe, but looking at it now I realize its a giant pickaxe. Which makes sens because the Dwarves gave it to her. Like you think she would be healing or support because of how she was in the movie but nope, Snow White gonna crack some skulls. She's through playing nice. Also really like her costume.
Tumblr media
Like what do you want me to say? its Stitch in his space suit. Its fine.
Tumblr media
Okay power Armor for Mike I kinda get But Sully's already a big guy (I mean so is the Beast but Beast is supposed to be fighting back his beastly urges, not sure what Sully here is going for).
Tumblr media
Okay, Tinkerbell looks suspiciously close to her canon form, what is going on here...
Tumblr media
Ah there we go. Like I made the Simba going super Sayian joke. I don't even know what Tinkerbelle is doing.
Tumblr media
Not gonna lie was never a big Tron guy. Moving on.
Tumblr media
Hey did you know that Ursula's design was based on a famous Drag Queen? I feel like they may have leaned into that. I also like she carries a giant contract on her back. This almost feels like a league of legends design with how cartoony and over the top it is.
Tumblr media
Oh come on this is just being mean now. Don't make WallE fight. DON'T MAKE WALL E FIGHT. Come on. He's a little guy.
Tumblr media
I did not se Lightyear either, but I'm guessing they were trying to bridge the gap between the toy story version and the new one. He looks fine I guess.
Tumblr media
Again, this is something I could see Jafar wear in canon.
Tumblr media
Okay, Jasmine is the best Disney princess don't think anyone is gonna fight me on this, and I really like this design. It works better than the Aladdin one at least.
Tumblr media
Tigger come on now. He looks like he's about to go camping. You're gonna send that poor plush toy to die fighting the Heartless or whatever? For shame.
Well that's all the Mirrorverse characters. Thank you for listening to my Ted Talk.

The weight of 2x05 - Pop
So, I'm watching The Bear again and watching the sixth episode of the second season is so, so difficult to the point of causing physical pain because it's the episode that makes clear that Carmy is self-sabotaging. Self-sabotaging because he still hasn't dealt with and resolved the trauma he still has, wanting to be a person he doesn't, self-sabotaging by getting into a relationship never wanted because that man definitely doesn't like Claire, and self-sabotaging specifically with Sydney (and the restaurant by extension).
See, there was no, no reason for him to be with Claire at that moment. Carmy knows how to drive. If he just wanted to help Nat, he'd drive to the post office and back to The Bear. But, he doesn't do that! Syd said they would talk after he got back and out of nowhere he calls Claire and spends the day away, which is unnecessary! You could argue that it would be because he wanted to set up a date and found a way but… the point is that he had already set up a date with Claire!
Transcript of episode 2x05 (POP): Carmy: Hey, hey. I, um, I know we were supposed to hang out later, but, um, I-I was wondering if you might want to take a drive to Winnetka with me instead.
And, do you know why he did that? Because this idiot knows, even if unconsciously, that something is going on. That there is something good happening. Something good with Syd happening. Carmy objectively knows that he likes spending time with Syd, that she is good for him, and that he has this admiration, kindness and softness always directed towards her. But, to be honest, he also knows on some level (even a shallow one) that it's not pure friendship. Carmy is an artist, a sensitive person, and even though he is emotionally stunted, he is not stupid… completely. But Syd and the whole idea of the restaurant that she, they created together, everything that this beautiful, intelligent woman represents, is new for him. It's different from anything he has ever experienced or witnessed in his life. Carmy has never dealt with such healthy situations and such a hopeful future. He has never fallen so much in love with someone he has so much in common. Someone who clearly respects him, admires him, helps him and makes him feel good and who, perhaps for the first time, he chose for himself.
He doesn't know how to deal, how to continue with so many unresolved situations that he still has and as doesn't have the courage to resolve yet, so he takes the easy way out. Carmy was born, raised and thrived in abusive situations. He was guided and raised his entire life by Mike as his biggest icon and reference, and he loved him despite everything that happened between them. The brother who Carmy still in mourning and has not resolved himself with his sudden departure, loss of fraternal relationship and this feeling that he has to honor and be proud. That's why Carmy tries to have a relationship with Claire, because that's what Mike wanted for him. It's the simplest path, where he doesn't change, where he doesn't need to make an effort because Claire does all this work for him and his brother would love them. No wonder Pop comes before Fishes. He follows what is familiar, what Mike would want, what he has been told is right. What was always repeated that would make him happy. Which manifests itself in the insistence of Fak and Richie since Mike died, and they were the closest to him and agreed with the older Berzatto's ideas. That's why he decides to basically run away from Syd when she goes after him to do something together. Like what happened in the episode when she wanted to discuss the menu and the cutlery, and he ducked the whole post office thing. And when Syd says, making it clear that she wouldn't let him get away with everything when he gets back, they would continue talking, Carmy calls Claire and finds a way to disappear for the entire day. And so Carmy takes a long, hard look at Fak before calling her.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
That's why the episode ends by saying that Fak set everything up for Carmy after he returns to the restaurant and this dumbie decides that he's going to make the move to start this venture that Mike wanted him to try. Carmy never wanted Claire or this whole other persona he assumed, or at least tried to assume. But, he's too unresolved and a bit self-centered and cowardly to do anything about it, which ends up coming back to bite him and unfortunately Syd and the restaurant in the butt. And this ended up separating him from what he wanted and who he really wanted, with results bordering on disastrous. In S3 Carmy better sort herself out, because Syd can be patient, but she's already shown that she doesn't accept unhealthy situations forever. And then he may lose the things he once loved in life through no one's fault but himself.

Possible Season 5 songs
So, I just wanted to share some songs that I think might be included in season 5, or, at least, songs that I think would fit in well. Bear in mind that I don't exactly remember every single song featured over the course of the show, so there could be repeats here.
Everybody Wants to Rule the World - Tears For Fears
youtube
I think this could work as the season theme like Thriller and Separate Ways. They could do a dark remix of it.
2. Maneater - Hall & Oates
youtube
Could be a good song to play after the new monster makes its fatal debut.
3. I Think We're Alone Now - Tiffany
youtube
I really like it when they add in songs that dissonantly reflect the on-screen action. Imagine this song playing when someone is suddenly taken into the Upside Down or we cut to wherever the hell Max's consciousness is. "I think we're alone now. There doesn't seem to be anyone around."
4. The Final Countdown - Europe
youtube
It's a bit cliche, but it could also work as a season theme. It's also just such a iconic 80s song that I feel like it has to be used in some way.
5. Boys Don't Cry - The Cure
youtube
They kinda have to after all of the theorizing from Will's poster in season 4. Bonus points if Mike sings it to Will using that guitar we caught a glimpse of in his room.
6. Where is My Mind? - The Pixies
youtube
Seems like a good song for when someone is trapped in the Mindscape. Max, maybe?
This is just a few thoughts I had. Feel free to reblog with your own ideas.

I actually do have thoughts on the Season 2 trailer of MAW
First off, it already looks super promising with the MU characters coming back and the entire plotline with Tylor
Johnny’s the CEO of Fear Co. bc of course he is lol. Having said that, it’s really fitting for him. I still bet that Chet is his right hand monster
I love the little Easter eggs during the college reunion clip, like we get to see Frank McCay (the guy in the beginning of the prequel who gave Mike his hat) and Earl “The Terror” Thompson there
“Don’t quit your day job!…Oh wait, that IS your day job” Lmao stop djdhhd
The youtuber DazzReveiws mentioned the kid in the trailer looks like a Cocomelon baby and I can’t unsee it 😭
I wonder what Fear Co. is like. Do they use closet doors or do they scare from under the bed? Or do all monsters come from closets and the bed is just a hiding place? I’ve always wondered that 🤔
Can’t wait to see Duncan again I miss him
I hope Oozma Kappa and the other ROR members come back. I wanna see what they’re up to. Did OK also go from Scarers to Jokesters? Did they move to Fear Co? What’re they gonna think of Tylor? They’d like MIFT altogether cuz misfits
If Javier makes a cameo, I really hope he has lines. I’d love to see what he sounds like. Personally, my voice claim for him is Diego from Awkward Puppets but I also heard Danny Trejo is making a guest appearance so maybe he’s gonna be Javier
Claire looks great, but I wanna know where Brock is. Where is my hype man?
Jennifer Coolidge is apparently another guest star and now I’m curious to who her character is
The new characters look promising too. I’d like to see what they do with Grandma Tuskmon. She seems like the type to bake you cookies if you’re feeling sad but also capable of ripping someone a new asshole if they deserve it
I bet there’s gonna be a lot of references to MI and MU. I can see Mike trying to persuade Tylor into not going like “This is the same guy who dumped paint over me and Sully back in college! You can’t trust him!”
I know Randall’s probably not coming back but can you imagine what it’d be like? Like while Tylor’s dealing with Fear Co, Mike and Sully have to deal with Randall along with keeping the company afloat
Then again, it’d be cute if Randall helped Tylor just to get back at Johnny
“I thought you’d want me to go back to scaring”
“Yeah, but at the same time, screw Johnny”
I can’t wait to know who this lizard lady is
Tumblr media
Is she gonna be an unlovable, one-sided villain? A lovable villain? Is she gonna be one of the sweetest characters in the show? Does she have an accent? She looks like she’d have an accent. Or at least an iconic voice.

"Stranger Things: The First Shadow": My Experience and Impression ❤️‍🔥
"Stranger Things: The First Shadow" is an absolutely unforgettable experience for fans of the series, taking them on an out-of-this-world journey. I was absolutely blown away by the fantastic production and performances. 🎭✨ Here are some interesting insights about the play!
• "The First Shadow" serves as an excellent prequel to "Stranger Things", offering viewers new details about the show's fictional universe. It sheds light on the pasts of familiar characters and the events that set the stage for the series we know and love.
• The story is divided into two chapters: “The Girl from Nowhere” and “Captain Midnight”. There was a brilliantly staged opening scene and then the theme tune of “Stranger Things” played. 🎶
• Set over 20 years prior to the events in the series, “Stranger Things: The First Shadow” introduces us to younger versions of familiar characters such as Joyce, Hopper, Bob, and others who will later become the parents of the kids from “Stranger Things”, along with Henry Creel, his family and Dr. Brenner.
• One important new character, not (yet) introduced in the series, was Patty Newby, the adoptive sister of Bob and Henry’s love interest. She was portrayed as good-hearted and compassionate.
• Young Joyce was just as much of a badass as she is in the series! I absolutely adored her in the play because of her confidence and determination. 🔥 Plus, it was interesting to see that she was quite popular with the guys!
• It’s still surprising to me that she chose to be with Lonnie over Bob or Hopper. It feels like an unusual choice. 😅 However, without their relationship, we wouldn’t have Jonathan or Will, so it’s an interesting twist of “fate”…
• Young Hopper was struggling to live up to his father’s expectations of him, but as we know, he later becomes a police chief, following in his father’s footsteps.
• Fun fact: Joyce invited Hopper for a drink after her shift but he was supposed to leave and had to decline (as far as I understood). Jopper was always meant to be but it just happened much later. 🥹
• Joyce and Hopper have always been an iconic duo, not only when they want to have fun, but also when solving mysteries together! It’s in their blood! Bob was also there to help them.
• Young Bob was a lovely character, passionate about radio and infatuated with Joyce, who didn’t take him seriously at first. He also served as comedic relief in the play (like some other characters).
• Karen (Nancy and Mike’s mother) was portrayed as a real flirt, often seen making out with Ted Wheeler. Also, It’s crazy to see how Ted changed from a jock to a couch potato. 🙈
• While some have suggested that Karen wanted to kiss a girl in the school play, this wasn’t explicitly stated in the story. Karen volunteered to read lines with Patty, another girl, and there happened to be a kiss scripted. So, whether Karen is bisexual or not isn’t confirmed but remains a possibility.
• It was fascinating to explore the history and background of Henry Creel, witnessing his struggles with the desire to be normal, how his powers developed, and how love ultimately failed to save him. Additionally, gaining insight into Brenner’s storyline was equally captivating.
• The play expanded our understanding of the “Stranger Things” universe, delving into secret government experiments and Dimension X.
• We got to see a very special character at the end of the play. 🤫 I’m not going to retell the plot and spoil everything, but if you’re interested, you can read it here.
• There were some other minor characters in the play that contributed to the overall story. The cast was absolutely brilliant, but I was especially impressed by Louis’s acting skills (who played Henry). 👏🏻
• I can’t even imagine how much they invested in this production! The staging, decorations, props, and costumes were marvelous! And the special effects created this incredible immersive experience that left the audience in awe! 🤩
• A special shoutout to London’s Phoenix Theatre, which truly elevated the entire experience! Alongside the cool merch, they even had a bar designed to resemble the “Scoops Ahoy” ice cream parlor from “Stranger Things”. 😃
• As you can see, this stunning play left a lasting impression on me, and it’s an experience I’ll cherish forever, especially as a huge fan of “Stranger Things”. 😍 Feel free to reach out if you have any questions about the play – I’ll be more than happy to answer them if I can! 🙌🏻
