how do you edit comics so good? how did you practice/any tips or advice? i want to edit comic art but i have no clue how to start

I'm between calls so this going to be rushed Whoops.

- start on pieces that have a similar style to your own. this just makes getting your brush settings right easier.

- fuck with your brush settings. Jpeg artifacting and the way older comics were scanned and printed adds a lot of Texture Jank that you need to match to make the edit seamless.

- touch as little of the piece as physically possible. Your hands and the ogs have different muscle memory and will make different decisions on how a line should lay. so, make as few changes as you can and feather the edited areas out (this also helps with hiding the texture jank not lining up perfectly)

and this one's important:

- Focus On Pieces That Fuck Up The Way You Tend To. Yes pointing and laughing is fun, being a pedant is one of life's joys. But critique of other art is fundamentally about self improvement. You don't critique a finished piece to improve It you critique to teach your brain how to not make those same mistakes and to see them in your own work. if other people benefit from seeing your process then that's just a bonus.

I started almost exclusively working on pretty ladies bc I'm a gay man and like drawing big hairy men and so had an Extreme Lack of ability when it came to drawing women pretty. (I can draw women pretty now)

- Once you're comfortable move on to other styles, trace the images, make your brushes match the lines in front of you line for line, use fewer layers. and just Learn how to match another person's hand. This plasticity is extremely useful bc it can make you more comfortable exploring new styles and the transitions between them in your own work fun and seamless.

"He could barely make out them talking in the blur that was his current vision, but he couldn't make out what they were saying. It was as if he was underwater, the two voices muffled by the crashing waves around him. They wanted to hurt them, he was sure of it. Sure he couldn't make our their faces but he knew enough to know they despised him. He heard them rant about him everyday. He was in danger.

His mind kept screaming at him. Move! Run! Leave! Do something, But he was frozen on the floor. Fear gripped him tightly and refused to let go. He thrashed against it, against his own body, desperately trying to escape the terror that was his parents, But all he could manage was a measly growl.

The orange man took a step closer. Danny's mind raced as he pushed back against the brick wall that stood behind him. Pain shot through his aching body. He yelped, curling in on himself. Shutting his eyes, he desperately prayed that his wounds would stop aching. Then maybe he could fly out of here with no problems. But no, the scratches and bites left by Spectra and that damn shapeshifter had to have been deep, because of course he couldn't get off easy for once. His life's a mess."

So hi! I really love character creation, it's one of my favorite things to do :')

Music like the Beatles, ELO, Queen, Will Wood, indie, punk rock, and really whatever I get when I hit an interesting recommendation (I'm eclectic)

Video games: Persona series, Fallout, Hypnospace Outlaw, Undertale, Sally Face, umm also indie horror games are generally where it's at for me

Jojo's bizarre adventure, one punch man, neon genesis

I was a theater kid at some point and am inspired by Chicago, Cabaret, Cats, Rock of Ages, and Rocky Horror for their wackiness/vibes

Webtoons/comics: Paperteeth!, After Dark, I'm the Grim Reaper, Lovebot, Space Boy, Solid State, The Prince of Southland, Yuna and Kawachan, Electric Bones...

Besides media, I am inspired by people I interact with (which can help me build character relationships) and qualities I pull from the inside. Also, I have had a strong interest in psychology for a long time, so my stories are very character-centered. I also like throwing in a funny edge to most things I create because I don't like being serious 100% of the time. I like to experiment with irony a lot, as you do.

I'm inspired by ideas I wish people talked more about, what'd I liked to have seen as a child, untraditionally beautiful characters, wacky characters, and characters flaunting who they are because they're proud to be themselves. I love unfixable characters who learn to find worth, characters who are overly complex, characters who fall from grace, blah blah blah. Or sometimes I just write characters for fun and with no real motive, who gain a purpose later on by chance. But not all stories need lessons or purposes or morals or whatever. Some things are more fun when they're just existing because they can. I feel like my wip Crater City is like somewhere in between having a purpose and having none at all.

Other things that help inspire oc: drawing them with random art generators, scrapbooking their very own page, filling out oc interviews, participating in writeblr events/games, spending a whole day listening to their playlist, forcing myself to write one scene with them in it, pinterest-ing, creating a blog/journal/site about them, etc.

who/what jumpstarted you into creating your own characters and stories

I started writing as a small child and would create illustrated "stories" based on real events that happened in my life but lowkey exaggerate them because I was like 6, hehe. Or play with barbies or legos or whatever and that's its own thing right there. Then I moved on to big boy things like writing in notebooks about girls with horribly made up names that mysteriously resembled Disney princesses' names because I'm bad at naming things (see: my webkinz pet named "the blue whale").

I'm not sure what jumpstarted character creation for me, I guess it was always this ✨️💕thing inside me all along 💕✨️. I think it was because I was a quiet child and kept to myself, which meant a few friends and a lot of introspection at a young age. But I was/am inspired by things all around me. Things that make me feel nostalgic, bittersweet, or whatever other emotion that's hard for me to explain because emotions are weird for me.

As a child, I created ocs based on who I wanted to be more like. Ex: an outgoing hero with bold hair, a strong anti-hero with a bit of edge, an adventurous hero who easily befriends others, etc, etc.

As a teen, I created ocs fueled by spite ("I can make better ocs than half of you seasoned authors even if I'm just a kid") and also my knowledge of the dsm-5. I think I was inspired most by my trauma, so yeah, that'll do it to you. I still dig deep down for some inspo from my Deep Dark Past™, which has helped me understand myself and ocs better, who would have guessed? But this doesn't exempt me from research.

As an adult I am motivated to write because of the impending doom that we all die some day so I better wrap it up before something happens to me and I lose my ability to write by some chance I'm out of college and I have my whole life ahead of me and have no more boring essays tying me down :'DD

I was looking through some stuff and realized that I have a few of amphibia AUs I just never really talked about them so I'm gonna talk about them. Basically it's a short summery (if you wanna hear about one specifically let me know!)

Amphibia Witches Au: Basically the calamity trio are from the Boiling isles, and find a portal that takes them to the human realm where they meet human versions of the amphibians.

Time Swap Au: So y'know how amphibia is sorta like in the medieval times, well that's earth right now, and amphibia is like our current time. So when the trio get stuck there, they're amazed by all the new technology and stuff.

Five Stages Of Reality Au: Everything seems perfect, Anne is with her friends, until she notices things aren't right. And when everything is falling apart she feels someone grab her shoulder, she turns around to see her older sister, who is there to break her out. (This one gets really dark)

Frog Future Au: Sashannarcy have a child, Sam, who starts to hear voices in her head. Instead of telling her moms about it they decide to handle it by herself. They find Marcy's old journal, she tells her two best friends about it, they find a box similar to the music box, y'know what happens next, boom they're in amphibia. (Currently screaming about this one the most 🤩🤩)

High School Days au (don't know what to name it) : After the events of amphibia the trio are now in high school, on Anne's 16th birthday, her friends notice that something is up. So they decide to get her two old friends to help celebrate her birthday. Unfortunately things don't go as planned, and it looks like the trio still have some things to go through. (This one is very new, and I'm still working on it so things WILL change. Also I have a good amount of OCs in this one because making OCs are fun and harmless as long as they aren't problematic.)

OKAY so those are my AUs 😊 I think this would be a good time to say that a lot of these are works in progress, I've never really made AUs before amphibia, so they might not be the best. I'm still learning lol! But yeah these are my amphibia AUs. Again if you have questions about any of them PLEASE FEEL FREE TO ASK!!! I'll gladly scream about them 😊😊

Oh, man, comfort Christmas-time movies?! Right on, man. This is going to be easy. Ish. 😂

1. 'White Christmas'. I know every beat of this movie, up and down. I do not NOT watch this movie before Christmas.

2. 'The Sound of Music'. While not Christmas centric, it used to play every year around Christmas when I was a kid. Plus, it's just an essential comfort movie for me.

3. 'A Year Without a Santa Claus'. Rankin/Bass films were a big part of my childhood. 'The Leprechaun's Christmas Gold' is the backup for this one.

4. 'Love Actually'. Emma, Alan, and Colin own me in this one. They're top tier.

5. 'The Lion in Winter'. My dad and I used to watch this one together when I lived at home. It's got a really wonderful cast and the play is a great read, also.
