BnHA Chapter 318: On Your Left
Previously on BnHA: The Hawksquad+Lurkers were all “well this sucks” and sat around a bit talking about how maybe they should actually come up with a new plan that is actually good, but then in the end they were like “nah.” Deku was all, “THERE’S SOMETHING INSIDE ME THAT PULLS BENEATH THE SURFACE!! CONSUMING, CONFUSING!! THIS LACK OF SELF CONTROL I FEAR IS NEVERENDING. IT’S HAUNTING HOW I CANT SEEM TO FIND MYSELF AGAIN. MY WALLS ARE CLOSING IN.” Just, literally that whole entire song. All Might was all “Deku you should take care of yourself, try eating a thing,” and Deku was all “BYE, ALL MIGHT,” and just LEFT. He left!!! What the fuck!!!
Today on BnHA: Endeavor is all, “maybe if Deku didn’t listen to All Might he’ll listen to me instead.” Deku is all, “[doesn’t listen to Endeavor]” because, well, yeah. The Vestiges are all, “surprisingly, even we are a little concerned -- maybe you should get some rest, kid.” Deku is all, “((Ò ‸ Ó)).” The Vestiges are all, “holy shit.” Deku is all, “[wanders the ruined city streets terrifying the populace on account of him looking like Shelob had a baby with one of the Nazgul].” Some shriveled-up puppeteer villain asshole is all, “HORIKOSHI SAID IT’S MY TURN TO ATTACK DEKU TODAY SO I AM GOING TO SUMMON MY FRIGHTENED HELPLESS ATTACK MOB!!” Kacchan is all “WHADDYA MEAN THEY FOUND THE NERD!!! -- oh wait, that’s me, I found him. I found the nerd, you guys.” And just in time, too. I was about to owe a whole lot of people a whole lot of dollars.
so I have been super good about spoilers this week as always, but let me tell you guys, for the past 36 hours my dash filters have basically been nonstop “manga spoilers” this and “bnha 318” that, and so I’m coming in with a fair amount of hype here. your move, Horikoshi
oh, good! they got Endeavor to call Deku to try to talk him out of it. what a great and wonderful plan
Tumblr media
“listen up kid, you haven’t slept since March and you are basically a walking biohazard right now, I’m just telling it like it is. didn’t you get shot like three times?? and there was a whole thing about how you urgently needed medical attention?? and supposedly we gave it to you, but I mean you haven’t even changed your clothes and don’t seem to have any fresh bandages or anything, so did we?? did we, really?? and also we all got blown up yesterday, so yeah.” hmm he’s making some reasonable points here you guys, but you sure do go on and on, Endeavor
oh he says foreign aid is finally on its way! I’m sure they’ll be very helpful. I mean in fairness they can hardly be worse than the home-grown heroes at this point
hey Enji, could you maybe try appealing to Deku the sixteen-year-old human boy, as opposed to Deku The World’s Last Hope? he does have value beyond his quirk. I know that’s always been an incredibly difficult concept for you to grasp, but could you maybe TRY, jesus
Tumblr media
and also we’re worried about you as a person?? you’re just a kid and you’re pushing yourself way too hard?? you were going to say that part next, right. why the hell didn’t Hawks make this call instead
“don’t worry about me... I’m completely fine” Deku you do understand that saying it over and over again doesn’t actually make it true
and again with the rush!! all the rush rush rush!! we’re running out of time, we can’t let AFO and Tomura keep getting stronger, I have to end this now, there’s no time to rest, etc. etc. etc. just the constant pressure of this whole big countdown on top of everything else
holy shit, you KNOW it’s bad when even the Vestiges are telling him to chill
Tumblr media
these guys are basically the walking talking embodiments of self-sacrifice; if even they’re telling him he needs to take five, then he must seriously be like half a step away from death’s door
OH SHIT LMAO
Tumblr media
DIDN’T EVEN LET HIM FINISH HIS SENTENCE BEFORE HE SENT HIM INTO THE FUCKING SHADOW REALM WITH THAT FUCKING LOOK. HOLY FUCK. DIDN’T EVEN KNOW IT WAS POSSIBLE TO DIE TWICE. SHIT
(ETA: so I’m pretty sure this was just Danger Sense activating and so he cut them off to go do more hero stuff, but I’m gonna go ahead and stick to my original interpretation anyway lol.)
anyway so how’s everybody doing. we all good? En, you good? Banjou? Shino? I’m imagining you guys all curled up in a little ball on the floor right now lol. can’t say I blame you though, no shame
lmaoooooooooooo
Tumblr media
“SHEESH.” sheesh indeed, lmao. “what in the FUCK was that”
see, this is why y’all need Kacchan. you need someone who’s not going to back down from him no matter what. if it’s a matter of out-stubborning Midoriya fucking Izuku, then there’s only one other person on the planet capable of that, and we all know it. don’t pretend like you don’t. I am not going to shut up about this! we’ve had our hurt so now what about SOME COMFORT, DAMMIT
“I’m afraid that he’s becoming influenced by my conscience” nah are you kidding Nana this is all 100% made-in-Japan pure original Deku right here
see, Banjou gets it. “that kid, he’s totally going on his own.” exactly. this was so inevitable it was basically scientific law
“well I for one don’t see the problem with Deku being so obsessed with saving everyone else that he pushes himself until his body and soul literally fall apart” okay, whose speech bubbles are these?? we’re about to have words
lol of course
Tumblr media
well you always did prefer the direct route didn’t you. but even you can’t possibly think this is okay lol
Tumblr media
dark AU!Kacchan please tell us more about your badass doomed timeline in which everything went to shit and you apparently had the same character arc that Deku is having right now except it somehow made you sexier instead of turning you into a rabid t-rex. I have so many questions
oh so now you want to help??? well -- good, actually. sorry if that sounded offended just now lol
Tumblr media
(ETA: so at first when I got to the end of this chapter I was wondering if Katsuki B. had somehow summoned his alternate-universe counterpart through trippy OFA space telepathy lol. but in the original Japanese there’s no reference to “we”, so this appears to be a mistranslation. this line should probably read more like “if there’s something/someone out there that would be able to complement/complete the current Midoriya Izuku [it would be]…” which, oh hello, is that Horikoshi once again reaffirming that Deku and Bakugou complete each other lol. “guess what guys, the Vestiges ship it too" heck yeah. they know what’s up!)
look how admiring his boyfriends are. HORIKOSHI GIVE US THE REST OF THIS BACKSTORY ALREADY GODDAMMIT
“meanwhile somewhere in the depths of the ruined city, Deku was having a dance-off with the villains”
Tumblr media
I like how the villains all have this “AHH WHAT THE FUCK” kind of body language to them lol. I mean if it were me, and an eldritch horror suddenly clawed its way from the shadows with its writhing glowy tentacles and pants-shitting nuclear death stare, I would probably just die on the spot. no need to stick around. only pain awaits
lol for a minute I thought this was Can’t Ya See-kun and I was like “WHAT A FASCINATING CROSSING OF PATHS” but it’s just some random girl
Tumblr media
he seems genuinely confused lol
Tumblr media
Deku it’s because you look like something that crawled out of a sewer drain, sweetheart
lol they just took his word for it?
Tumblr media
so trusting. even though they’re immediately hauling ass anyway just to be safe lmao
“my appearance is frightening to others” no shit Deku it’s because you look like a fucking alien exorcism. you look like a Lich that got caught up in an oil spill my dude
NO NOT THE CHOSEN ONE ANGST AGAIN
Tumblr media
I RAN OUT OF ESSAY JUICE FOR THIS ALREADY HORIKOSHI!! I’VE BEEN TALKING ABOUT IT FOR MONTHS NOW WHAT TOOK YOU SO LONG!! BUT ANYWAYS, GOOD!! I MEAN, BAD, THOUGH, OBVIOUSLY. BUT YES
“ENJOY THIS MONTAGE OF DEKU BATTLING A RANDOM KAIJU AND WANDERING THE WOODS LIKE A DERANGED GREEN BABA YAGA” okay yes but sir, exactly how much longer is this going to go on. if it’s a matter of you wanting to make sure we get it, let me assure you that aside from a few stray chuunis who think that Deku embracing the Darkness is the coolest thing he’s ever done, all of us here in fandom fully comprehend that this is Not Good
-- OH SO IT’S LIKE THAT
Tumblr media
really. with the flashbacks to his loved ones’ smiling faces and everything. not even gonna try to aim above the belt, huh
AND NO KACCHAN??! NO CLASSMATES?!?! IS HE PURPOSELY NOT THINKING OF THEM??? OR ARE THEY BEING SAVED FOR THE NEXT PAGE??? SO HELP ME, IF THE NEXT PART OF THIS SENTENCE IS “CAN PROTECT THEM”, OR EVEN WORSE, “CAN SEE THEIR SMILING FACES AGAIN”, I...
WHAT DID I JUST SAY
Tumblr media
(ETA: my man did Sero and Kaminari fucking dirty lmao. I miss their smiling faces too omg.)
the sheer, unparalleled irony of him saying this while he stands there looking like the gargoyle demon from Fantasia got crossed with an umbrella that got struck by lightning. Deku :(
oi who the fuck is this clown
Tumblr media
is he controlling this mob with his evil hair. “what if I made an exhausted, running-on-fumes Deku battle a brainwashed mob at Ground Zero.” Horikoshi do you just have like a checklist of horrible things you want to do to your protagonist
easy there Sasori
Tumblr media
well joke’s on you buddy because he’s apparently “completely fine”, so
“here’s to hoping that you know more about AFO’s location than the others” jesus christ Deku you really have hung your mercy out to dry huh
now he’s forcing his mob of terrified prisoners to attack Deku ahhhh. sucks to be them. at least they’re not being controlled by bees
so Deku is saying that Sasori’s control can be broken with “physical trauma.” similar to Shinsou’s quirk I guess. but so does that mean he’s gonna have to hurt them? ( •﹏•)
NO NOT MORE SAD EYES
Tumblr media
“DEATH BY EMPATHY!!!” HORIKOSHI NO
fuck. he looks like he’s on the verge of passing out
Tumblr media
this is what happens when you nerf a character’s self-preservation stats in favor of spamming their bone-breaking stats instead. NOW ACCEPTING BRAIN CELL DONATIONS FOR A BOY IN NEED!! with your loving generosity we can hopefully help him live to the ripe old age of seventeen
OMGFGGG
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
Tumblr media
[grabs your hands] ლ(*꒪ヮ꒪*)ლ [swings you in a circle] へ(゚◇゚へ)
THASSSSSSSS WHATSSSSSSS UPPPPPPPPPP
HORIKOSHI REALLY SAID FUCK THAT MASK (ノ°ο°)ノ YOU FINALLY LEARNED!! IT’S CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT!!!!
JUST FOR YOU KACCHAN, HORIKOSHI LEFT THIS ONE BAD GUY WHO’S STILL WEAK TO FIRE. GOD BLESS
IT’S YOUR COUNTERPART, KATSUKI B!!!! HOW WE DOIN OVER THERE IN THE TRIPPY COSMIC OFA SPACE REALM LOL. DO WE BELIEVE YET, FANDOM???
LIGHTS!!!!
Tumblr media
INSTANT RESULTS!!! IT’S SUPER EFFECTIVE!!!
(ETA: imagine what this must look like to Deku though. he’s been caught up in this dark cloud of despair and exhaustion that’s been building up over... I’m gonna go ahead and say “weeks”, because yeah. and now he finds himself here, in the place where All Might’s legacy ended and the torch was passed to him. and the world is in ruins, and he’s surrounded by frightened people who are all trying to hurt him -- because who isn’t trying to hurt him, these days -- and he’s scrambling to figure this all out, but meanwhile the weariness is finally starting to catch up to him, and so he’s basically just standing there in a fog of complete and utter misery.
and then all of a sudden through that haze, he hears the one voice that’s more familiar than any other that he knows. like, I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if he thought he was just imagining it at first. Kacchan showing up to save him right when he’s at his most desperate and feeling the most alone. Kacchan, showing up to save him.
this is the person he always looked up to as a child (to be fair he was quite a strange child lmao). the person who was even closer to him than All Might. the person he always thought was amazing. and bam, here he is now. appearing in the sky out of nowhere to one-shot the bad guy with a single blast (which, btw, that was his armor-piercing attack too lmao dslkjlk take it easy there kiddo). like, that must have felt absolutely surreal to him, especially coming at a time when he’s already half-delirious and barely hanging on to reality. he must have really thought that he was losing it there for a second.
but he’s really there. it really is him. and for this brief moment -- before the rest of the situation catches up to him, and he remembers about all of the fucked-up AFO stuff, and remembers why he was so afraid and why he was pushing everyone away -- for just this one brief moment, he’s too exhausted and stunned to do anything except to just react. just stands there, looking up at him in awe.
and you know, it almost reminds me of...
Tumblr media
just. you guys. the character development. the freaking character development. someone who brings reassurance. someone who shows up and makes you think, “oh, it’s all going to be okay now, because [person] is here.” the role reversals. the growth. the payoff!! because who is the one person who always had faith that Kacchan would one day grow up to become an amazing hero like that. WHO IS IT. YOU ALREADY KNOW.
omg. anyways, bless you Horikoshi, my feels which have been on backorder since fucking September have finally arrived lmao. yes, good, thank you. worth the wait. it is always, always worth the wait. fuck yeah.)
“LOWFRIES” SO YOU’RE TELLING ME THE WHOLE GANG IS HERE, AHHHHHHHH (º̩̩́⌣º̩̩̀ )
BEAUTIFUL. WONDERFUL. SENSATIONAL. I DON’T EVEN CARE THAT JUMP IS ON BREAK NEXT WEEK. THIS RIGHT HERE WILL SUSTAIN ME

BNHA Chapter 327 Spoiler Analysis: Home Sweet Home
OH MY GOD, GUYS!!!  DEKU GETS A BATH!!!! 🎉🛁 🧼   My broccoli boy finally gets squeaky clean, gets some sleep, and we finally get some R&R time with the Class 1-A kids.  It’s not close to the happy-go-lucky days of old, but it’s some time with the kids nonetheless.  I’m glad Horikoshi put some heart and humor in this chapter because god knows we needed it.  But, let’s be real, this is the calm before the storm:
The chapter starts off with what everyone and Horikoshi has been wanting for Deku since he went on his mission: A motherfuckin’ bath 🛀 🧼🛁!   Kaminiari and Kirishima lead the Class 1-A boys to carry Deku into their side of the UA Alliance bathhouse (looks real nice btw) and give him a good power-wash.  The whole sequence is very comical!  The boys are rushing in and poor Deku has this O_O face on him like “what is happening?” 😂 We also see some of the boys butt naked 😳  It’s clear that Horikoshi had fun drawing this thing and it was fun to read 💚
Bakugo is with them of course and you can actually see his scars from when Shigaraki stabbed him.  He’s not bleeding, but you can see those scar patches on his skin.  I’m curious of how fan artist are going to draw him from now on.  I would like to see that fan art 👀
There’s also some bubble sfx coving Bakugo’s crotch and a translator said it might say dick or penis.  I’m curious what the officials will say.
But, Bakugo being Bakugo is still aggressive towards his classmates.  More playfully than before, but still.  He reminds everyone that he still intends on being the best there is and that everyone is still his rivals (also friends, Bakugo).  HE EVEN MAKES AN ATTEMPT TO CALL DEKU IZUKU!  LIKE HE ALMOST SAID “DEKU” BUT HE CHANGED IT TO IZUKU AT THE LAST MINUTE!  AND DEKU SAYS THAT CALLING HIM DEKU IS JUST FINE LIKE THAT ANGER THAT ORIGINATED FROM THE NICKNAME ISN’T THERE ANYMORE AND IT’S A FREINDLY NICKNAME BKDK FRIENDSHIP GROWTH YOU LOVE TO SEE IT 🧡💚
After Deku’s bath, he’s sitting in the commons talking to the rest of Class 1-A.  Well, most of them.  Mina tells Deku that Ochako and a few other students went to bed after everything became ok again.  So, I definitely didn’t see Tsuyu, and it looks like Shoji, Aoyama, and Hagakare weren’t in this chapter either.  Ochako I understand; her speech must’ve been emotionally taxing.  Aoyama and Hagakare are the top suspects for being the traitor in the fandom and this isn’t helping their cases.  I don’t know about Tsuyu and Shoji though.  They’re both mutant-types, but characters like Ojiro or mutant-like people like Jiro, Mina or Tokoyami didn’t get outcasted.  Horikoshi did hint that Shoji would be getting something soon.  But, I really am just speculating here.
Now that Deku’s back, everyone has questions for him.  Though I understand why, this has gotta be overwhelming for Deku.  At least they’re not mad at him for hiding OFA.  They seem very understanding actually.
Then my ❄️🔥 boy, Shoto Todoroki, comes in all handsome right out of the baths 💙  He’s drying his right side while you can see a steam cloud on his left.  So, it is canon that Shoto drys himself naturally with his heat. His entrance is so pretty that even Mineta’s questioning it (shut up, Mineta, you’ll never be as beautiful as him).  And yes, I might be a Shoto simp, don’t judge me I see y’all too 👀
Anyway, Shoto asks everyone to let Deku sleep since that was pretty much the whole reason they brought him back.  Problem is, Deku can’t because he really needs to apologize to All Might for abandoning him.  AND AFTER HE SAYS THAT THERE’S A DETAILED PANEL OF SHOTO POINTING TO ALL MIGHT LIKE “UH, MIDORIYA? HE’S RIGHT THERE” AND ALL MIGHT LOOKING FROM THE WINDOW LIKE A HORROR VILLAIN WHAT IS HAPPENING HERE 😭
All Might comes in and apologizes to Deku for not being able to support him when he needed it, but Deku says that All Might support him more than enough.  Mina also scolds All Might for not saying anything when he left.  She wants All Might to apologize to everyone for that.  Though I’m glad Deku and All Might have reconciled (I honestly thought that last convo between them was going to be THE LAST for a hot minute), Mina has a point.  All Might did bail on all of them without any warning.  Kinda messed up in general.
All Might apologizes and he is going to fight with everyone regardless of his physical state so that he can see that flame continue to shine.  However, he warns the kids that they got info on the villains and that the final decisive battle is coming soon.  If the whole “Final Arc” thing hasn’t been hammered into your head, there you go.  I’m also glad that Stain’s speech did end up motivating All Might further.  Who knew?
So, All Might is off to help Endeavor since he’s got unfinished business to take care of.  But, the kids are wondering why Endeavor (and probably Hawks) isn’t entering UA entirely yet.  Shot reminds them that Endeavor is still connected to Dabi and that his presence alone would cause more discourse.  People’s minds can’t change that easily.  Shoto of all people would know.
As Deku FINALLY SLEEPS 💤 and Shoto puts a blanket over him (possibly warmed by his left side 🔥) 💙💚 Shoto acknowledges how his presence might be making people anxious too even though it’s not his fault at all (thank you, Kirishima for doubling down on this btw ❤️🪨).  But, things are different and Shoto’s going to show that so that everyone can be at ease like he wants as a hero.  There’s even this sweet small smile on his beautiful face as he says this.  He’s grown so much and he’s pretty to boot I love him so much *HANDS IN FACE* 💙❄️🔥
EVEN KIRISHIMA’S CRYING FROM HOW MANLY SHOTO IS I LOVE THESE KIDS!!!!
And now Jiro steps up and says her piece.  That she knows how hard it is to convince everyone to change their minds for the better.  Like with those two critics from the Culture Fest.  Even so, they accomplished this before, so she thinks they can do it again.  She even gathers all the band members to emphasize on this.  I love how Jiro uses her earphone jacks to rally the band and how she literally drags Bakugo by the shirt for a cute group shot.  None of these kids are afraid of Bakugo anymore LOL 😂!  Also, Momo is the tallest out of all of them in this line up shot (except for Bakugo who’s still being dragged on the ground).  I think she’s roughly 5ft 6-7 inches?  She’s the tallest of the girls I know that, but damn.  She towers all of them.  Even me...  She’s also very pretty in this shot and it’s her birthday as I’m posting this, so happy b-day Momo ❤️
And we get a beautiful panel of Jiro leading everyone to make sure that they’ll go beyond with making everything better than it was before.  We get a nice group shot of the rest of the class agreeing with her with a smile including Shoto with a small one (did I mention that I love him?) 💙💙💙 And Deku’s in the center still sleeping away.  I hope he has good dreams *kisses forehead*💚  And go Jiro for stepping up to the plate too 💜!  All these kids have grown so much.  There is a light at the end of the tunnel.
Finally, the last pages show Endeavor, Hawks, and Best Jeanist going somewhere, maybe Tartarus.  They got info out of Dr. Ujiko via polygraph and the Nomu Research Group at Central Hospital.  They predict that they have 2 months until Shigaraki’s ready to go again, so they’ll need 1 month of preparation.  But, the info Stain gave All Might gave them more info.  His letter ended up being a personal letter to All Might (Stain really is that nuts...), but there was a microchip in the blade Stain left containing the security records from Tartarus.  It’s not stated how this info affected the mission at hand, but it sounds like it has to do something with the time frame.  So, I’m curious if they have less time to prepare or more?  Given how this is the Final Arc, Imma say less.
Finally, the teaser asks “How are the villains moving?”  I wonder if that means we’re switching to the villain’s next week.  I would love to hang out with the kids more, but I would also like to know what our villains are up to.  Like, where the hell is Himiko Toga?  Is Spinner still questioning shit?  What happened to Mr. Compress after he mauled himself to help Shigaraki and the others escape?  Also I think we need more info on this dude’s backstory given he’s the grandson of the famous Robin Hood villain who’s name definitely didn’t escape me... 😐  Is Dabi laughing his ass off from the utter chaos he started?  Is AFO still smiling like the evil mastermind he is?  Is Shigaraki as crispy as he was earlier?  I was going to ask about Twice but... 😭
So, yeah!  Love this chapter.  Really good transition chapter into whatever happens next.  I’m kinda sad we didn’t see Deku fight off more past villains during his vigilante days.  We got Muscular and Overhaul and I think that’s it?  Didn’t see any of Overhaul’s minions or that teeth-blade villain (Fish-something?; he broke out, but we haven’t seen him since) or Re-Destro or his goons.  I don’t count as Gentle or LaBrava as villains anymore and they were never truly evil to begin with.  Regardless, it was a really cool arc to see a more dark side of Deku.  I’m really glad Horikoshi made great use of his bunny hood and metal mask finally.  Deku really did look demonic for some time.  Also, seeing Deku badass is always a plus.  And seeing the deconstruction of hero society and the possible reconstruction of it was really good too.  Not everything is sunshine and rainbows, unfortunately, but we can do our best to make it that way.
I’m also glad that we finally got our kids back in top form.  Not just being heroes, but being teenagers too.  They all had great moments especially Iida, Ochako, and now Shoto as they should.  But, Bakugo’s apology was peak for me.  Over 320 chapters of development and build-up lead to that moment and it really is one of the best in the series.  It lives in my head rent free.
So, we got 1-2 months in-manga-time until what is probably the final battle of the series.  God, I can’t believe we’re actually nearing the end of this series.  I started reading it back in 2018 when shit was rough for me. I found this series after listening to the music and reading the hype around it.  I watched the show then I read the manga and it really helped me.  Saved me from a dark place actually.  I will miss this series when it’s done and I will be greatly for the joy Horikoshi has gifted us.  I’ll try to save the farewells for later.  I’d say this series has at least 1-1 1/2 years to go.

MHA Chapter 315 Discussion-An Almost Great Conclusion, But Misses It’s Mark
Hi guys, Rhapsode here and it’s time for another MHA discussion. I haven’t really done one in a while, but after reading 315, I had a lot of thoughts I was working through. And before I start I want to say, I do not think this chapter is overtly bad. I think there’s a lot of good ideas to it, and overall nothing objectively bad. However, as the climax to this Deku vs Lady Nagant fight, I felt it didn’t quite hit its mark (pun not intended).
If you want my brief opinion of this current arc of “solo Deku”, I actually enjoy it quite a bit. I’m happy Horikoshi refocused on Deku after such a long war arc. As well as Deku FINALLY be proactive in his hero duties. No longer on the rails of the school setting. And I have especially enjoyed his current fight with Lady Nagant.
In terms of sheer action, it’s got a tried and true set up of a sniper battle, but then adds to it by taking the fight into the air. The action is hectic in all the right ways with the unpredictable bullets cutting up Deku as he dodges them with Danger Sense. As well as the introduction to a new quirk of OFA.
But where this fight really shines is Nagant and her origin. Lady Nagant was hero assigned to maintain the illusion of order by getting rid of potential threats and heroes up to no good for the Hero Safety Commission. Until being told to kill in the name of improving society and any of her activities being covered up finally weighed on her and she killed the then president of the Commission and placed in Tartarus. While she’s only hunting down Deku because she’s assigned to, she says that even if AFO wants to rule the world, it’d be more transparent than a return to the status quo.
It’s honestly a great reveal as it finally puts out in the open the actual corruption in the system that’s hinted at, but was never really delved into. But now it also finally has Deku confront the problems of the status quo that he’s grown up in. This isn’t an ideological battle like with Stain on the definition of hero or reaching people who have fallen through the cracks of society like Gentle. This is real flaws with the system that people have had faith in from the mouth of someone who has done their dirty work.
It’s something I think a lot of people have wanted to see. And I’m glad Horikoshi finally did dive into it the structural problems of hero society.
So how does this all get resolved in 315? How does all this end? Well after Lady Nagant targets Overhaul and shoots at him to make the situation harder for Deku to focus, Deku without hesitation goes into trying to save Overhaul (despite knowing Overhaul is a villain), Deku homages All Might and then shatters Nagant’s arm, and finally Deku makes an observation that Nagant wasn’t really going to hit Overhaul and that if she seeing the darkness of society, she knows where to expose it as she still has the heart of a hero. Nagant should join Deku.
But then AFO activates an explosive power right as Nagant is coming around. The blast fries her as Hawks arrives and we’re left on the cliffhanger of “is she going to survive.”
Now after reading this, my feelings have been… mixed. Let me get out this out of the way there is nothing with this chapter I disagree with: I have no problem with Deku making an emotional appeal to Nagant, I have no problem with AFO acting like a heel, and I have no problem with Nagant not being fully evil and never intending to kill. I know that last one has upset some people, but given Nagant’s backstory of killing innocent people for others because they told her so is the reason she fell off her path in the first place. So it makes sense she never intended on killing anyone.
And I know some people have nitpicked how it’s the female villain who isn’t fully evil, but that honestly doesn’t matter to me. As narratively, this arc started with the attack by Muscular and Deku couldn’t reach him. So it’d make sense to potentially end this mini arc on an example of Deku reaching and reforming a villain. It also helps that Nagant has actual layers to her motivation that could actually allow her to be swayed away.
Now my real issue with this chapter is honestly a problem that I was afraid Hori would do after he introduced just how messed up the Commissions back dealings, it’s that Deku doesn’t really take any concrete stance on what should be done about this status quo. Instead, Deku focuses more on telling Nagant she is a real hero and he ultimately wins her over after showing how much a real hero he is.
While Nagant uses the term “fake”, “sham”, and “phony” when discussing heroes and hero society, it doesn’t address the bigger issue. Namely that she feels this way because of the corrupt and unheroic things the Commission has done to maintain faith in it. Deku offers no actual answer to the very real and very hard question she poses.
Tumblr media
And his only real response is this:
Tumblr media
(I’m being generous as there can be something lost in translation here and it’s a bit on the flowery side )
While Deku did acknowledge this world isn’t Black and white and he’s saying she can expose corruption if she works with them, he dodges actually offering a solution to her concerns about the status quo. Instead more time is devoted to the same kind of “I will save anyone” appeal he always does.
And while one could argue Nagant’s only on the side of AFO because his reign would keep the Commission from having the power they did, even if she doesn’t fully believe in him. She still poses why being ruled by AFO has its appeal to her and Deku doesn’t actually counter that. No pointing out the obvious anarchy that could result from this or how AFO uses even the people he claims to love like Shigaraki. Deku doesn’t rebuff anything and once again passes the tough decisions onto other people. With Hawks appearance here at the end and his baggage about killing Twice, I can very easily see cleaning up the commission as becoming his motivation going forward. Once again resolving Deku of actually needing to make hard calls or form stances.
This is compounded by the fact AFO just blows Nagant up. It really doesn’t matter if you rebuff anything that AFO has said or offered to convince Nagant to join you, there’s no way she’d work with him after he attempts to kill her. Which feels like it undercuts this conversation about morally gray society.
Look we all know that AFO is evil. The audience knows and this is absolutely what he would do, but if you’re trying to give all of the illusion that we’re finally confronting issues with society and bringing this up and why we would get people loyal to AFO or people like the liberators or people like stain. And trying to sway someone away, then just having him nuke them for having a change of opinion. then it undercuts any actual ambiguity of a clash built on addressing moral grayness. Which I feel is always been one of the strengths of MHA.
I was not expecting Deku to have a thesis on how he plans to dismantle the shady parts of society. Or go full Eren Yeager and become his own revolutionary. But when confronted by a villain who isn’t like Shigaraki or Toga or Twice, who fell through the cracks in the system and needed a safety net like Deku wants to be, Nagant was a part of the system. The corruption of society runs deep in her motivation and Deku doesn’t really address it beyond acknowledging its flaws. And yet his actions of “true heroism” are enough to sway her. It just feels incomplete. There is a brief line that you can interpret of him wanting to clean up the system, but it feels way too short for a moment like this. Deku being confronted by all the darkness of a system he admires should cause him to make some kind of stance.
And no, I’m not going to speculate on if Lady Nagant is actually dead and this will finally forced Deku to take a firmer stance or what have you. I do want to keep these discussions at least relative to when they are released and in this moment the thing that wins over Nagant is the same “save everyone”/“inspiration by example” Deku usually does. Which doesn’t feel as satisfying a conclusion as it could be.
Not helped by a good chunk of this chapter being taken up by explaining all the bits and bobs of OFA’s power system and finally explaining what exactly his third quirk does. This feels like padding when I wanted the space could’ve been used for character dialogue or a continuation of their conversation about the status quo.
I do want to repeat though that there is nothing outwardly bad with this chapter. There is no real objective failure in the writing. It’s just a case of, “ this could be stronger.” And that’s the frustrating part.
Tl;dr there’s a lot of things that are good about this chapter from a technical and narrative level. The natural progression of characters and the switching of allegiance makes sense. however it’s just all shy of really living up to a lot of the stuff it sets up about society and going back to the status quo. As Deku doesn’t seem to have any real concrete stance beyond his usual.
And because a lot of the things around it are very good it makes it a lot more noticeable when it doesn’t quite stick the landing. Not helped by what feels like nothing more than padding with the explanation of quirk ability instead of character introspection about this very legit and difficult revelation. There is nothing outwardly bad, it’s one of those cases of something that could be an 8-9/10 ends up more as a 5-6/10.
That’s my opinion at least. But I am extremely interested in seeing where Hori goes with this. Thanks for reading and I’ll see you next time.

Thelreads, MHA 253, Replies Part 3
(Vigilanties ch 59)
1) “Aizawa my baby, please tell me who did you fail to save?”- Well, it’s not who he’s failed to save and more who he will fail to save with his power. But lucky him, I guess he got another chance with his friend’s revived cadaver…
(Vigilantes ch 59)
2) “THIS IS WHY PEOPLE WERE LOOKING FORWARD FOR THIS ARC, WAS’NT IT? TO SEE AIZAWA BACKSTORY AND FOR THE PAIN TRAIN™ TO MOW DOWN THE ANY FEELINGS I STILL HAVE IN MY HEART BECAUSE THIS WOULD EXPLAIN A LOT ABOUT AIZAWA, STARTING WITH THIS PARTICULAR MOMENT HERE”- well, it wasn’t the only reason…
(Vigilantes ch 59)
3) “DON’T GET ME WRONG, I’M STILL CURIOUS TO SEE HOW CLOUDY THERE BIT THE DUST, BUT I’VE ALREADY SEEN THROUGH FURUHASHI’S INTENTIONS. LIKE THAT WEIRD SHIT WITH THE CAT SHOWING UP OUT OF NOWHERE, I SEE WHAT IT IS LIKE, HE CAN STORE STUFF IN THOSE CLOUDS, CAN’T HE? THE CAT DIDN’T CAME OUT OF HI ASS, THAT’S SOME SORT OF POCKET DIMENSION, BECAUSE THAT WAS DEFINITELY NOT A SINGLE GAG, NOT EVEN FURUHASHI WOULD DO SOMETHING LIKE THIS, THAT WAS FOREHADOWING TO WHAT HIS QUIRK IS ACTUALLY ALL ABOUT AND I’MLOSING MY MIND RIGHTN NOW I NEED TO SLEEP”- Ok, you’ve seen through Furuhashi’s intentions, but did you see through Horikoshi’s? I admit, it wasn’t until reading this bit that I figured out how his cloud quirk would later become a foundational aspect of Kurogiri’s ‘warping’ ability, but with some tinkering, the ability to manipulate dimensional space to store objects certainly could be turned into full-out warping functionality.
(Vigilantes ch 60) 4) “Now I just need to see him pulling something out of his cloud and I’ll know for sure I got the hammerspace characteristic of his quirk right as well.”- Hammerspace… Dimension warping… same difference really.
(Vigilantes ch 60) 5) “Okay, so he’s not too keen on studying, but he has his heart on the right place, and that’s important because having the heart in the wrong place can be fatal, especially if said wrong place is outside of your body. You hear that Cloudy? Keep your heart inside of your body at all times, especially during your work studies, okay?”- Looks like he lost it after all, and it’s up to his old boyfriends to help him find it again
(Vigilantes ch 60) 6) “Okay, see? Cloudy there is head over heels for Miss Flashing there, no way that wouldn’t have some sort of repercussion in the future… I’m now obsessed with this, maybe if I insist more than I did with the Captain it will actually come true and he’ll end up dead. I can’t lose a third time.”- wanna bet?
(Vigilantes ch 61)
7) “You see Cloudy, Aizawa is unfortunately in a bad place, psychologically speaking, he needs some time and help to get through this, so, be a good boyfriend and stick by his side, okay? And try to not get yourself killed before he has a chance to internalize those ideas, otherwise it won’t work.”- well he technically did and did not take your advice- it depends upon how we’re factoring in resurrections into that criteria.
(Vigilantes ch 62)
 8) “Yep, he is, and considering how Aizawa absolutely works alone only we can once again assess how this boy is buried seven feet under, because if he was around there was absolutely no way Aizawa would ever know peace.”-Well, he’s still around, he was buried, and I guess Aizawa’s not going to have a single night’s peaceful rest after this encounter.
(Vigilantes ch 62)
9) “I’m not even talking about the current chapter, I’m just focused on counting my victory over this dead kid, because finally one character that Furuhashi will be unable to save… but unfortunately it was one that I was getting attached to, even though I also knew that I shouldn’t.
Goddammit. Now I’m feeling really bummed out, there’s no joy in this victory…
and I swear to god, if furuhashi cheaps out and just put this boy into a coma or something…”- Well, it’s not strictly a coma, but it’s uncertain how much of him is actually left in there. Like Aizawa said, he acted nothing like his old self, even when meeting face-to-face with his old friends. Even if his body’s there, his mind and soul may no longer be.
(MHA ch 246)
10) “Last time there was the disturbing but somehow not surprising revelation that Shigaraki is going to become the ultimate Nomu, and in four months he’s gonna fuck shit up. Great, wonderful, I feel like this was also a reason why everybody wanted me to read Vigilantes, it all makes sense when I remember what happened there.”-Well, it wasn’t the major reason, but it was certainly a contributing factor- informs events with what’s happening with Shigaraki vs what’s been put into this research beforehand to ‘perfect’ him as the end result. Everything that’s being done to Tomura’s body is the accumulation of Ujiko’s untold years of experimentation and desecration of the natural order, with Shirakumo just a face about uncountable number of people who’ve had their humanity sacrificed on the altar of his research. It’s ironic, because the intended recipients are both people who could be said to have lost their humanity already through their personality and life experiences.
(MHA ch 246)
11) “Oh holy shit that’s not only the students, we got a whole lot of fuckery going on there! We have the students from Class 1-B, and Let me tell ya” - Well, well, isn’t it weird how Kurogirl turns up in a panel featuring all of Class 1A’s allies and those they’ve shared strong meaningful bonds with?- and right next to Aizawa and Present Mic no less, hanging overhead like a grim reminder of their shared traumatic past that he is.
Tumblr media
(MHA ch 251) 12) “Also, it was trigger, which, considering the events so far of both vigilantes and the Overhaul arc, well… I`m wondering how it will all fit together…”- Well, here’s a major example of how they’re connected… @thelreads

*Sits in my therapy couch*
Oh boy I have some Thots to share about the MVA arc. Idk if you've seen the rest of the episodes by the time you get this ask, but just to make sure uhhh pls don't read until you have lol.
I know a lot of people have been really upset about how MVA was adapted, nothing in depth, i never looked too closely at anyone else's opinions because i wanted to see everything as a whole before i developed any opinions.
With that said....I do like what we got of MVA arc. To an extent.
I like what we got, some episodes more than others, how it wraps up everything more or less. Like most of what I consider important, they did fine with. Sad Man's Parade?? Excellent episode as a whole. Shigaraki's backstory episodes were also great for the most part. (Tho, I'm not fond of the fact they sprinkled some bits of his backstory in earlier episodes as like, some sorta wink-wink nudge nudge to the audience. I'd rather have had it all as a single whole in a cohesive fashion)
The rest of it? Ehh. You can really tell they cut out content that they shouldn't have. I thought the beginning part of season 5 was amazing and it kills me that there wasn't the same level of care during MVA. Wonky off model faces (dabi what have they done to you, you're not even 6 ft-) or detail that was lost to cut corners i feel (that scene where shiggy decayed that mob of people was just. two. frames.)
Side character arcs being shafted or cut completely, spinner im sorry dude you were supposed to be the narrator. A friend pointed out to me that this'll bite them in the ass later because his character arc becomes really important later on for his relationship with shigaraki and to the league as a whole?? and anime onlys are gonna be like ??? wtf why is spinner getting attention like this now?? (SO angry they left out the "beautiful horizon" line)
Like, holy shit Re-Destro's whole introduction. In the anime all he does is make a phonecall to shiggy, threatening to call the heroes on him if he didn't come for a high noon showdown. He just comes into play as a smiling politician, and then away from the cameras he casually murders one of his followers like it was nothing. that's an establishing character moment that should not have been cut out! And just...yanno. Some tiny world building that add context to the storyline as a whole. Sure you might not need it, but a little extra seasoning is appreciated. Toga's quirk therapy, the fuckin KKK esque anima meta quirk cult people. Hate that they were cut out.
anyway uh those are my thoughts, sorry this got so long lmao
hey, hey! sorry this took me so long to get to, but i finally watched all of season 5 & saw the movie this past weekend and i... well, idk what i was hoping for when it came to that, but the movie definitely DID NOT make up for what a mash up some of this season felt like.
warning: major spoilers for BNHA season 5 below the cut
totally agree with you about sad man's parade and the full Tenko backstory episodes! although nothing will ever, EVER compare to the beauty of Horikoshi's artwork and nuance, i was comforted by the care BONES poured into those frames.
however, was also kinda frustrated that they didn't give Tenko/Tomura his red eyes. i always figured that his mother and sister might have them - it makes sense, both genetically and thematically, for that to be a shared trait - not something that inherently symbolizes trauma? evilness? freaky-deaky eye color shifting??? after all, Bakugo has red eyes and they seem to be a seminormal occurrence in the general population as a whole, sooooooo why were Tenko's greyish brown?
but i digress...
because, like you mentioned, SPINNER is a much larger issue & that i do take an active issue with.
when we got to the MVA arc in the manga, it was such a massive switch up because suddenly the villains are our protagonists. we see their struggles and catch a glimpse of what the world, and hero society, looks like through their eyes. And for a downtrodden and discriminated person like Iguchi, (and i put person here because it seems like some of us kinda forget that Spinner is a MAN, not an animal, even though he has a mutation/quirk that makes him look like an iguana/lizard dude, he is a human, with a human brain, impulses & emotions) we see that life in this quirk based society is pretty fucked up.
the first group they square off against is a literal cult called the Creature Rejection Clan and their acolytes hate and actively persecute those who they deem as "abnormal," which in this case often refers to humans with animal like features. sure, they're called fossils but the rhetoric that they spew has always been present in the society of BNHA; it's just usually cloaked as microaggressions, and as we're told in the first chapter:
Tumblr media
two of the biggest, or at least the most frequent, perpetrators of these anti-mutant microaggressions are the Todoroki boys. we first see it with Shotō, back during the Stain arc & then with Dabi in the Overhaul arc:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
and neither of these are “accidental.” they’re both saying these dehumanizing names purposefully; for Shotō it’s undermining the authority of the police chief, whose assessment of his involvement in the rescue of Native & Iida goes against what Shotō deems to be “true” and “righteous” heroics that saved lives - and for Dabi, well, he’s likely just doing it to irk Spinner, but it shows how low of an estimation he holds for this “lizard” shaped human.
and don’t think the fact that these are children of Endeavor escapes my notice either. sure, some of this is societal, but the shit we say out loud we’ve often learned is acceptable behavior from the examples that our family and loved ones set for us at a young age.
but the absolute destruction of Spinner’s involvement in BONES’ adaptation of the MVA arc is pathetic, imo. because quirk acceptance, or non-acceptance in this case, and the Meta Libration’s mission is a MASSIVE point for the overall tone of the upcoming war arc:
Tumblr media
and don’t get me started on Re-Destro; they completely took away his impact and terror with that crumby entrance that they shoved together - what with him just sipping on wine & sounding like he’s joking around with the league. because idk if ya’ll remember, but Re-Destro’s original entrance is nothing short of bone chilling in the manga:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
like... we didn’t know who the fuck that WAS.
and he just shows up in a commercial, where he’s all smiles, and then brutally SNAPS THE NECK OF HIS MUTANT ASSISTANT. i’m sorry... imma be what? who? guh. the missed impact of that boggles the mind. and sure, it’s a kid show, censorship, WHATEVER - but Midoriya oozed buckets upon buckets of blood in the new movie - so shoo with that, i don’t wanna hear it.
anywhoo! thanks so much for replying friend! i always love hearing your takes and as always you were spot on with so many of the things that needled under my skin during the watch. i get we wanna sell that the kids are cute, and look at this new and “improved” Endeavor guy, but they missed so much of the meat and potatoes with the MVA portion of the season & for me... the new movie didn’t make up for any of that trimming.
but lemme know what y’all think!

Serious BNHA Ch. 290 spoilers WOOOOOOOOO
Okay let’s start from the beginning because this chapter was just
a LOT to take in
(Edit so there’s a cut yeah yeah spoilers under the cut there’s a LOT to take in WOOOOOOOOOOOOO)
I know everybody was about 99.999999% certain that Dabi was Toya already but the way this chapter was executed was beautiful. I got literal chills, even though I was already pretty sure it was gonna go down this way anyways, and it’s all due to Horikoshi using pre-existing details revolving the Todoroki saga in the big reveal. It’s kind of sad that he got some hate about dragging it out so long, because I honestly feel like if he didn’t do it this way it wouldn’t have been as impactful.
ANYWAYS, analysis time WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Tumblr media
The chapter starts off in the hospital that Rei Todoroki’s been admitted in for the past 8 years or so. We hear from the staff that the TV needs to be cut, and that she’s close to discharge. On her windowsill sits her favorite flowers, the same flowers that she had said Enji had dropped off for her way back during the Hooded Nomu incident. We’ve known that Rei was going to be discharged soon since Chapter 259, and some significant time has passed since then, and just- she still has the flowers, so Enji’s probably stopped by recently.
Tumblr media
Now imagine being this woman for a second: Not only is she the victim of psychological and physical abuse, but she’s also the mother of a (up until now) considered deceased son and the reason her youngest son has a massive scar on her face. To say that her psyche is fragile would be an understatement.
She’s getting better enough to be able to return to the real world, but that doesn’t mean something earth-shattering could push her progress back.
And that’s exactly what happens.
Tumblr media
Rei’s regularly scheduled TV program (Quick note: She didn’t have access to the television during the Hooded Nomu fight, so the fact that she has it now shows that she’s been making considerable progress) is interrupted by a man sitting on a chair. He looks up, and it immediately registers:
That’s her son.
More specifically, that’s the son she thought had DIED years ago. If this doesn’t break her I honest to god don’t know what will.
Moving on.
Tumblr media
We get this fantastic shot of the destruction this war has caused, but other than that the shigaraki shit isn’t anything we didn’t know already
Shiggy’s hurt, AFO’s telling him to retreat, and he almost gets his ass handed to him by Nejire and Shoto (MAN Nejire got the chance to actually do something this chapter but noooooo stupid Gigantomachia >:(( )
Tumblr media
Despite my disappointment, there were some awesome Nejire bits so I’m not complaining THAT much.
Tumblr media
Also not that it matters but I love how both of them use their first names as their hero names LOL Anywho, we get a status update on Iida and Bakugo; Bakugo’s stable enough to speak but is probably gonna experience major setbacks if he doesn’t get help soon, and Iida’s trying his best to help his pals
THEN WE GET TO THE MEAT OF THE CHAPTER
Tumblr media
Aaaaalso friendly reminder that Enji asks Shoto if he’s okay; The man DOES care, he’s just really bad at showing it.
Tumblr media
We get a flashback to the panel of Enji waaay back during the Provisional Licensing Retake thingamabobber exam(? I think i don’t really remember correct me if i’m wrong) Where his character arc reaaly started to take off
Tumblr media
Then we get THIS lovely interaction, in which Dabi addresses Shoto by name. Enji, not really recognizing him (more on that later) sees him and calls him out, causing Dabi to retaliate. He splashes some liquid on his hair (not sure if it’s bleach or just water i’m actually stupid man idk) and thus, the big reveal is set.
Tumblr media
Followed immediately after by side-by-side panels of father and son
Tumblr media
I don’t know if I’m just overthinking things but like- Scars are in the same area, really reminded me of this LOL
Tumblr media
Anyways, we get to see this heart wrenching image of Rei Todoroki’s world falling apart for the second time.
Tumblr media
We then get to see the destruction this fight has caused AGAIN, but in the perspective of other people.
Tumblr media
Not gonna show the hand since WOOOOOO that was sad; A friend pointed out that the woman in the left panel has a similar body shape and hair cut as Inko Midoriya, and she could be standing in the rubble of her apartment (also note that she’s crying; something we see Inko do A LOT). I’m not going to make any assumptions just throwin’ it out there
Then there’s THIS
Tumblr media
THE BEST PANEL IN THE ENTIRE FUCKING CHAPTER
Cantcha See Kid, one of the most influential reasons why Endeavor’s popularity was able to skyrocket, sits with his friend in horror as he watches this news. His view of the Number One Hero has crumbled, and he’s supposedly Endeavor’s biggest fan. WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Foreshadowing at it’s finest, kiddos. Honest to god, things are gonna get really bad once this blows over. Endeavor, known child abuser and creator of the mass murderer Dabi? Nobody would let him remain in the number one spot.
Tumblr media
Toya flat out SAYS IT.
The message is clear: ‘All those people I killed would have lived to go home to their families if my father had been kinder.’
Toya dives deeper into his backstory, yadiyada, nothing you probably haven’t seen already; What I REALLY want to get into is this panel right here:
Tumblr media
“A dance with your son, here in hell.”
Most readers probably just read this as a ‘oh wow he’s really mad and that makes sense wow’, but it’s actually a callback to what Natsuo said to Enji once Toya was first properly introduced.
Natsu blames his father for Toya’s death and says he’ll never forgive him, prompting this scene:
Tumblr media
“It’ll be a cold day in hell before I forgive you.”
I don’t know I’m probably overthinking things but like HOLY SHIT MAN
Also this
Tumblr media
don’t know if you noticed it but All Might’s on his way :’))
TLDR: I love Horikoshi’s writing so much like jesus christ i’m crying god this chapter gave me all the feels

Let’s talk about the future chapters and fates of some characters!
Oh boy so this is gonna be a long ass post but I just wanted to discuss things about the ‘war arc’!
First, I’ll start off with Hawks/Keigo Takami.
Tumblr media
Status: Unconscious/Severely burned, escaped to the forest away from the mansion
Hawks has become quite the controversial character in the fandom. It’s up to the reader to decide whether they believe his actions was right or wrong. There is no correct/clear answer here. I won’t dive into any of that right now, instead I’m going to focus on what his arc holds in the future.
Since he hit his head on the concrete, he was knocked unconscious and could possibly go into a coma. (Because we know Horikoshi likes to drag things out when it comes to the possibility of Dabi being Touya.)
I do not believe Keigo will die. Especially now that he holds important information about Dabi. We also don’t know Keigo’s whole backstory yet nor do we know what really happened with Jeanist. The recorder he had got burned up with his jacket or was destroyed by Dabi in this panel:
Tumblr media
You can see a little piece go flying from his hand just above his staples.
What I do believe is Hawks will die. His hero persona. Now that his wings are gone, the Hero Commission will most likely drop him just like that. Keigo will live on with the guilt of killing Twice. He really wanted to save Twice, trying to get him to surrender, only aiming to incompacitate him until, well... you know.
When Dabi calls him dirty, he doesn’t deny it. It’s probably going to impact him a lot when all this is over. The best direction for him is to have a talk with Tokoyami about his actions and break away from the HPSC. He should expose them since they groomed him as a child into a weapon, sent kids into a war, etc.
Personally, I’d love for Keigo to become a vigilante. It suits him much better at this point. I don’t think he’ll be able to regrow/regenerate his wings. There’s nothing left, plus he could only regenerate the feathers when there were his little stubs left. Also if you remember Endeavor talking about his blue flames it makes sense; “Carbonized cells can’t regenerate.”
Next up we have Tokoyami!
Tumblr media
Status: Alive, slightly burned, escaped to the forest away from the mansion
I’ve seen many posts about how Tokoyami was brainwashed. This is simply not the case. The Hero Commission seems to kind of despise UA or doesn’t have all to that much influence with the school. Except for the time they didn’t want the cultural festival to take place (at least that’s what I remember). Many of the teachers have their own thoughts about the Hero Commission such as Midnight in the teacher’s conference saying that the kids shouldn’t be put in battles like this. Aizawa has his suspicions about the organization as well.
Tokoyami respects his mentor because Hawks taught him many things about his Quirk and gave him good advice. (“If you’ve got wings, you should spread them out and fly. Don’t be confined to the ground.) Hawks means a lot to Tokoyami so of course he’d come to his rescue. When Dabi points out Twice’s body, Tokoyami looks horrified. When flying away and telling Hawks he did the right thing, he was running on emotions and shock. His mentor needs medical attention and fast. Caleb, a translator for the manga, notes that Tokoyami drops his edgy tone when he says these things to Hawks. Tokoyami is panicking. He just wants Hawks to be safe.
Also, his experience/interactions most likely play a role in his thinking. These villains tried to kidnap him, kidnapped a classmate, killed multiple people and plan to kill many more, and attacked his class on several occasions. Why would he believe Dabi right away when Dabi has burned alive dozens of people, thugs and innocent heroes like Snatch, and is trying to actively kill his mentor and Tokoyami himself?
Again, I think Hawks and Tokoyami will have a talk after this and Tokoyami will have to question Hawks’ actions. Keigo will probably tell him something along the lines of ‘Don’t support what I did’ or ‘Don’t follow in my footsteps.’ Call me crazy, but there’s actually the possibility that the HPSC will take notice of Tokoyami’s power and the risks he took to save Keigo. They might offer him training to be a ‘special hero’ like Keigo was.
Miruko!
Tumblr media
Status: Missing arm/part of leg, bleeding severely, in Jakku Hospital
Oh man where we last left off with the rabbit queen herself was her bleeding on the floor out of energy. Endeavor cauterized her wounds so at least it stopped most of the bleeding. It is worrying to know that she’s still in the hospital when Shigaraki is about to wake up and destroy everything.
Though I don’t think she’s going to die. Especially since that color page showed mechanical limbs in the same spot where she lost them. Horikoshi also loves drawing her, so let’s hope he likes drawing her enough to keep her alive lol. She’ll probably be in recovery for a while before resuming her hero work with her new prosthetic limbs.
Endeavor
Tumblr media
Status: Alive, in Jakku Hospital
Endeavor was taking on Nomu with Ryukyu in chapter 269. He is also in range of Shigaraki being in the hospital with all the other heroes. Many people believe he has huge death flags, but I seriously don’t think he’ll die this arc until we know what happened with Touya. Hawks might ask him about Touya if the black speech bubble was Dabi saying that he’s Endeavor’s son. This will both crush Keigo’s admiration for the flame hero and make Endeavor realize just how badly his abusive behavior affected his family. Perhaps he’ll go public with it? Or maybe the villains will use it against Endeavor one day and the public will turn on him?
Gigantomachia/Kirishima/Ashido
Tumblr media
Gigantomachia is truly terrifying. He could wipe the floor and completely wreck the heroes. He has finally stood up and will be on the move, heading in Shigaraki’s direction because of his ‘Master’s Scent.’ Since Shiggy now possesses All for One, Giganto will follow his orders.
What’s even scarier is that this guy was introduced way back in Kirishima’s and Ashido’s backstory. Which means those two could possibly face this giant. Kirishima wouldn’t be able to make a dent, but Ashido could wear him down over time with the exposure to acid. I’ve also seen theories floating around about him being Crimson Riot. So Kiri facing his idol?
I’ll touch more on other characters later (Deku, Shiggy, Dabi, Mic, Aizawa, Kaminari etc.) but I’ll tell you guys which characters I think will die:
Xless (I mean, come on, Shiggy’s gonna kill this man)
Crust (we have no attachment to him, plus he hasn’t been fairing well with the Nomu. Not to mention he’s near Shigaraki as well)
Anyways, what do you guys think? Have anything to add like other potential outcomes of their arcs?

Hello 👋🏼, sorry if I’m bothering u but ever since the recent chapters of BNHA I haven’t been able to stop thinking about the Todoroki family. Not many of my friends are into this anime and I just couldn’t stop myself from sharing this with you because I need to let this out.
[SPOILER ALERT 🚨!!! IF U DONT READ THE MANGA THEN U CAN JUST IGNORE THIS]
First of all:
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHH!!!!
(I’m still screaming as I write because the backstories RUINED me.)
Poor Touya having this horrible obsession over heroics and having his father acknowledge him but ever since his quirk started reacting against his body the whole family got negatively affected by it.
Rei and Enji wanted to stop at two kids but with Touya’s sudden disadvantage and the latter’s craving for power, Natsuo and later on Shouto was born (the youngest getting titled as the perfect heir from the moment he was born). I got torn seeing Touya’s eyes succumb to absolute madness at the birth of his younger brothers.
What scared me the most was how when it was just Touya and Fuyumi, the two hardly interacted despite being only a year apart in age. Touya claimed that ‘girls just don’t get it’ this small foreshadowing was later brought to light in the most recent chapter where he once again rejects Fuyumi’s company in favour of ranting to only Natsuo and where he disregards his own mother— another ‘girl’ that doesn’t understand his obsession passion for surpassing All Might and someone who plays along to the acts of those stronger than them. Touya saw his mother as a weak person who had no choice but to marry for the sake of her family and have custom children. Little Touya firmly believed his very existence depended on getting acknowledged my his father and defeating All Might but it sadly didn’t come true😭😭
Also..... LOOK AT THE BABIES!!!! They’re all so CUTE!!!
Chubby Fuyumi!!!
Natsuo with a running nose
And Baby Shouto with a meme like face since the day he was born🤣🤣🤣🤣
So ADORABLE!
And another thing. FUYUMI WAS EVEN YOUNGER THAN I THOUGHT TO HAVE STARTED ACTING LIKE A SECOND MOTHER TO HER BROTHERS!! Look at the way she defended Natsuo when Touya went on a rampage and tried to attack Touya! And during moments when Enji and Rei fought the two most notable heroes were Shouto and Fuyumi; the former fighting on the frontlines to face his father while the latter stood behind to once again care for her remaining family that though weren’t involved in the fight, they still needed emotional support to get through it.😭
I AM SO SORRY TO BE GETTING TO THIS SO LATE ANON BUT I HAVE SO MUCH TO SAY!!!
TW: Spoilers, Brief Mention of Child Abuse (Physical, Emotional and Mental), General Fandom Wank
So, like, SO MUCH HAPPENED in those chapters and I ABSOLUTELY LOVE ALMOST ALL OF IT! There’s obviously all the things you mentioned above that were just amazing to see and learn! I know that a majority of the fandom has been absolutely livid about the reveals involving Touya being drastically different than what fandom thought they were all this time, but I think it honestly highlights how smart Horikoshi’s writing really is.
In Shoto, we see the effects of physical and mental abuse on a child, and how easily he could have ended up going down a troubling road much like Touya. Shoto’s saving grace is facing off against Deku in the Sports Festival, giving him an outside perspective and makes him realize that he can choose to be better, but that doesn’t just magically fix all of Shoto’s problems. Shoto still struggles with his feelings towards his Father and how he is perceived by simply being Endeavor’s son. We see that in the Provisional License Arc, where Shoto is so thoroughly rattled by Inasa. It’s even further pushed through how Shoto struggles with his feelings about Endeavor trying to better and whether or not he should forgive him. I feel like Shoto’s arc is incredibly strong and that his struggles are very realistic, which is why people love him so much. This whole concept is another thing I could rant about but I’m going to leave it here.
Meanwhile, with Touya, we see the effects of mental and emotional abuse on a child and how it can completely destroy them. I think people that act like Horokoshi “down played” and “ret-conned” Endeavor as a character to make him more sympathetic/ redeemable or that he’s simply writing Touya as “always being a bad seed” are missing the mark. This is, admittedly, something you see a lot when it comes to victims of abuse in the real world as well; the idea that if you weren’t physically or sexually abused on top of emotional or mental abuse, your abuse is somehow less “valid.” Now I’ve seen more voices speaking out against this mentality - which is relieving and positive - but it’s still a problem. The way Touya was abused is no less valid or scarring to himself as a person as what Shoto has been through was. Touya and Enji clearly had a deep bond as father and son. Hell, the fact that Enji is sobbing and saying he “can’t fight his own son” in regards to Touya, but clearly had less issue training Shoto until he got ill or passed out says a lot.
Touya was put on an incredibly high pedestal by Enji’s constant praise and attention. He was the apple of his father’s eye until the limitations of his Quirk were discovered. Enji had filled his head with promises and goals for what his future would be, essentially selling him what turned out to be a lie. We see Rei herself tell Enji that Touya “knows you expect something out of the kids.” Touya’s whole life up until that point was being told of all the great he would someday accomplish, and equating that to being deserving of his Father’s love, attention and affection.
And then he couldn’t live up to that expectation. And then his parents had two more kids following that revelation. The idea that Touya doesn’t realize that Natsuo and Shoto were meant to be his replacements - unbroken models that “deserved” Enji’s love - is clearly not missed by him. It’s evident in the way he looks at Natsuo after he’s born. He sees this as a sign that he is no longer deserving - no longer worthy - of love or support from the parent he absolutely adores.
We see this mostly from Enji and Rei’s perspectives, so we know the reasons they did it, but it’s clear they didn’t stop to think about the way this would be interpreted by Touya himself. This whole matter is only worsened by the fact that Enji refuses to make sacrifices for the sake of his oldest son. He pushes Touya to live a life outside of Pro Heroics while Enji himself refuses to do the same, thus setting a positive example and showing solidarity with his son. He instead pushes him away and distances himself, loses himself in focusing on Natuso and, once his Quirk turns out to not be what he wants, Shoto. Touya continues to push himself despite his limits in a desperate bid for Enji to look at him the way he used to; with pride and love.
What caused the fire that “killed” Touya? His anguish over being neglected and abandoned - left unloved - by his father yet again. It’s clear that Touya’s mental health is in need of some real focus that he has never gotten - due to both his parents negligence as well as the fact that mental health is highly stigmatized in Japanese society - and pairing that with the emotional and mental abuse he suffered at Enji’s hands broke him.
So many people are claiming Horikoshi is trying to make Enji “more redeemable”, but how do you get that? Enji abused Rei, his own wife, physically and emotionally and mentally until she had a psychotic breakdown, hurt their youngest child, and then robbed her the right to mother her children further by having her locked up in a psych ward for the next decade or so; built their oldest son, Touya, up only to then emotionally and mentally abuse him to the point he damn near killed himself in a frantic bid to garner Enji’s support only to return years later completely unhinged and looking to murder his entire family out of spite; neglected Fuyumi and Natsuo to the care of each other and hired help; alienated Shoto, his youngest son, from his siblings for his entire formative years, physically and mentally and emotionally abused him, groomed him to accomplish a task he never wanted, put him through such extensive physical training that Shoto would get sick or pass out.
Enji was a shitty father. He has a long ass road to continue walking if he ever wants redemption. The fact he didn't physically hit Touya doesn’t mean that Enji didn’t abuse his son and it doesn’t make Touya any less of a victim.
* End TodoFam Rant*
On a slightly lighter note, I also like all the information with Hawks’ past and all the parallels we’re seeing develop!
I’ve rambled briefly about this in other places the Huwumi discord but I want to expound upon this a bit more here.
I feel like Touya/ Dabi and Keigo/ Hawks are meant to be parallels to one another.
Back to back, we had proper name claims by these two characters. We had Dabi reveal his true identity as Todoroki Touya and then we have Hawks choosing to abandon his hero name to instead step up to fight as Takami Keigo.
I feel like “Dabi” was always a mask, of sorts. Dabi is typically pretty calm, cool, composed with the occasional bites of snark and cruelty. Meanwhile, we see Touya emoting and moving in a manner more akin to himself as a child, dancing about in manic delight over revealing his true identity and intentions. The pair of them are two drastically different people when you stop and look at it. “Dabi” was the mask he wore to gain ground to enact his revenge, and now that he is there? Now Touya can burn everything tethered to it down to ground.
Meanwhile, we have "Hawks” as he was forced to become as per the Hero Public Safety Commission. We had it revealed quite a while back that Hawks was a man of many faces, jumping from laid-back and chill to serious and focused quite frequently. “Hawks” is the presentation for the public and the Commission, groomed to be the perfect little canary in the mine that was Pro Heroics. The reveal of his true heritage, however, is not the killing blow Touya wanted it to be. Instead, it allows Keigo, the one who wanted to be a Hero to help people, the chance to truly dedicate himself to that. In being freed from the cage of “Hawks”, he is given the change to really soar as Keigo.
Now, I feel that “Dabi” and “Hawks” are most certainly parts of Touya and Keigo as well, respectively. Even though those titles were masks, they were masks made from parts of the men who wear them. I think what we’ll see going forward is the true elements of those masks bleeding back into the whole, and seeing the truest forms of each character.
For better or for worse.

On Shouto, Secrets & Social Isolation
Something that’s been on my mind for a while is, in light of the current situation in the manga, once again worth thinking about: Shouto is still being socially isolated. Kind of like us, only that he doesn’t know it.
We all know that sooner or later, the Touya reveal will happen. It’s just a question of when and how.
Once Shouto learns that Dabi = Touya, that’s gonna be quite the shock to him, considering everything this entails (i.e. his brother was secretly alive for the past ~10 years, lots of mental damage, ended up becoming a villain, could’ve been him instead)
There are a lot of theories on what might possibly happen when he finds out, though it’s clear to say that the whole point of the Touya storyline is to have some kind of effect on him.
What people don’t talk about enough is:
At some point, Shouto could also find out about the whole Deku/All Might/One For All etc. story
He would also learn that Bakugou is in on the secret
He considers both Deku and Bakugou his friends; both are people who know about his family situation and even know about Touya, the one topic he never talks about
All Might was his idol growing up, someone who, unlike his own father, represents a genuine hero, but now turns out to not be the person Shouto thought he was
So how would he react to that?
Shouto doesn’t strike me as someone who would take this personal, but rather someone who understands why this isn’t public knowledge or something Deku/Bakugou would just tell everyone about
In a most likely scenario, he would probably not make a big deal out of this to them
However, the way someone reacts to something doesn’t have to be how they feel about it. Keeping that in mind, what is the one big thing about Shouto’s backstory?
Isolation
Growing up, he was never allowed to be around his own siblings
His social circle consisted solely of his parents, one of which was taken away from him at a young age, the other someone he dislikes and was never treated by as a human being/child
When he first joined U.A., he made it very clear that he wasn’t there to make friends; his goal was solely on becoming the Number One Hero
Though we’re not shown what his middle school experience was like, it’s likely he’s never had friends before
It’s constantly shown he doesn’t understand social cues or really knows how to interact with others socially, still he views certain people as his friends now
So what do these two secrets have in common?
Shouto being left out of them
While he wasn’t specifically left out on purpose, when being isolated from his own siblings is such a fundamental part of his life, secrets can feel a lot more isolating than intended.
Not only does someone from his own family fake their own death (in whatever way), become a villain and still not bother mentioning that upon meeting Shouto for the first time since then (during the camp raid arc), even his friends keep a big secret from him alongside the hero he looked up to growing up.
Shouto, on the other hand, isn’t shown to share any secrets with someone else. Instead, he is very open to people, and has made it clear on numerous occasions how his isolation during childhood has damaged him and continues to be an obstacle he needs to overcome.
In other words, finding out about those two secrets would show him that there is still a distance between him and those around him.
Furthermore, circling back to the Dabi = Touya thing, much like the other secret, this one is also not just kept by one individual, but rather several people.
While we don’t know the circumstances of Touya’s death, chances are the Hero Public Safety Commission knows about it and helped Endeavour to keep this information away from the public, since his death is most likely linked to Endeavor’s quirk-breeding and quirk-training
Shouto is already aware that heroes can be corrupt (see: Endeavor) yet still wants to be a hero because he believes that this is not the norm
Much like with Hawks’ undercover mission for which the HSPC explicitly allowed casualties, their reason for covering Endeavor’s past up would be to keep the balance between the heroes and the rest of society
How would they deal with the Touya reveal? Based on the corruptness we’ve seen from them so far (in reference to Hawks’ backstory and his undercover mission), they would probably cover up their involvement in this/knowledge of Endeavor’s abusive actions to maintain their own credibility
This could lead to Shouto questioning the foundations on which the hero society stands (you know... kind of exactly what the LOV wants to do?)
To be honest, I don’t know how all of that individually and/or altogether would affect him canonically; how that would change his views and bonds, nor am I sure whether or not Horikoshi will even bring this up or just pretend like it wouldn’t make a difference to him, when his own brother, his idol, and two of his friends all turn out to withhold important information from him, as well as the HPSC and their corruptness. Not to mention what would happen once he learns that another hero he looks up to, Hawks, has a kill count!
While the HPSC and Hawks aren’t exactly people close to Shouto keeping a secret from him, they are, much like All Might, a big represenation of what being a hero is all about. Realizing all these entities are not heroic means realizing that heroes are fake. This would distance Shouto from the thing he was born for, the reason he exists, and his personal ambition of becoming a hero.
For one final example on why this should have effects on him, let’s put this into the perspective of
The Trolley Problem:
This ethical though experiment is about choosing to either save one person or a group of five people from being run over by a trolley. Most people naturally base their decisions on utilitarianism (basing one’s decision on the greater good), until that one person is being turned into someone you know (close friend or relative) - then the choice becomes much harder.
Now in this scenario, Shouto is the one person, the group of people is the rest of society
The person in control of who to save is any one of the people keeping a secret from him
Their decisions: the greater good!
Shouto wants to become a hero; wants to become someone who saves others. With that, he would understand and respect the decision to be hurt for the sake of the greater good. However, even when he understands to be sacrificed, even if he specifically gave his okay for this, it would still hurt him to not be more important to people he considers close than a group of strangers. Because why does he not deserve to be cared about?
Additionally, learning about the HPSC and heroes he considers good (Hawks) to not have such a clean slate, would add to the hurt and ultimately weaken or even destroy the trust he has in heroes and his friends altogether, thus socially isolating himself from them.
So while it’s uncertain whether Horikoshi will include this, partially because there is no telling whether Shouto will even learn about the whole One For All thing, it would be great to see that being included, especially as a way to further empathize how damaging the existence of heroes is to those they are close to, despite the fact that their actions are supposed to help people.

Who are your top 10 female villains? And your top ten male villains? Thank you!
Oooooh. Well, in this list I am including antagonists (people I see as conflicted/not committed to like, the bad side, if there even is a bad side, but basically oppose the protagonist at some point). Also, they are in no particular order:
Female Villains:
Tumblr media
Cersei Lannister (A Song of Ice and Fire)
She's sympathetic enough so that we understand how she came to be the way she is, yet terrifying and depraved enough that we fear for the characters around her. I don't think that's an easy balance to strike for a character: if you make them likable it's hard to keep audiences from rooting for them, but the balance is struck perfectly with Cersei.
Tumblr media
Azula (Avatar: The Last Airbender)
As @aspoonofsugar wrote recently on Azula, I think she is a fantastic female villain. I think she is sympathetic despite her actions, and I wish the story had explored her redemption, which was clearly hinted.
Tumblr media
Claudia (The Dragon Prince)
The first three seasons have kind of been Claudia's fall. While as a whole I don't think TDP is very well-written, I do think that Claudia, Viren, and Soren's family dynamic is a polished gem of writing that literally carries the story. I fully expect to see redemption for Claudia down the line, but not until she spirals further and further. At the end of season 3, Claudia resorts to killing someone to save her father's life when she has nothing and no one else left, and she makes this choice after her brother Soren (now redeemed himself) chooses to kill their father in front of Claudia, devastating her. Their choices are clear parallels and both are somewhat negative, somewhat sympathetic. Soren can't kill his past: he has to live with it, and Claudia can't cling to the past: she has to let it go.
Tumblr media
Delores Umbridge (Harry Potter)
She is awful and I hate her, but you're also supposed to hate her. Her comeuppance is hilarious ad perfect, and just--I think she's a fantastic villain because she reminds every single one of us of an albeit exaggerated version of a teacher we all know.
Tumblr media
Karren von Rosewald (Tokyo Ghoul:re)
Karren is TG:re's best written character in my opinion. Her tragic arc takes place throughout the first three arcs, which imo is also the highest point in the series. Karren just wanted to be loved, and if she had to die, at least she got to die as herself.
Tumblr media
Nora (Noragami)
Nora! The reason I read Noragami is pretty much for Nora and her redemption arc. The fandom hates her for... reasons, but she's always been primed for redemption. Her name is in the title (which yes also refers to Yato, etc.) She's important. I wrote a few metas on Nora, notably here.
Tumblr media
Enoshima Junko (Danganronpa)
Despair. It's fun to find a character who is, well, just plain fun, but who is also bored, despairing, cruel, and terrifying. She's unique and a brillaint character.
Tumblr media
Toga Himiko (Boku no Hero Academia)
I'm not the first one to say that Toga is BNHA's best written female character, but I do agree that she is. She, like Junko, is fun and interesting, and she has an arc that is compelling. Her actions directly move the plot; she’s bloodthirsty and yet uniquely empathetic and compassionate.
Tumblr media
Yoshimura Eto (Tokyo Ghoul)
Eto's backstory and her motivations were fascinating. She was one of the most complex characters in the entire story, and despite the fact that you understood why her father gave her up, you also understood her pain and justified anger at his doing so. She perfectly illustrated the divide between human and ghoul.
Male Villains:
Tumblr media
Shigaraki Tomura (Boku no Hero Academia)
BNHA's best-written male character, imo. His backstory and the current chapters that focus on him are extremely well-done, thematic and full of character development, and detailed artistically. He gets so much focus that I can tell he's important to Horikoshi, and I'm excited to see where he goes.
Tumblr media
Dabi (Boku no Hero Academia)
I'll admit there's a lot missing here. Namely, we don't know his identity for certain, but it seems basically certain that he's Todoroki Touya; however, we still don't have his backstory. Still, his fury at the presumed father who destroyed his family and yet has the audacity to be a "symbol of hope" is fascinating to me, and I'm excited to see how he develops as well. (Both Shigaraki and Dabi seem primed for some kind of redemption).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Adult Trio: Illumi Zoldyck, Hisoka Morow, Chrollo Lucilfer (Hunter x Hunter)
Am I counting these three as one so that I can get extra characters? Of course I am. In all honesty I really think all three of these antagonists are really well done, sympathetic and/or likable. They're the shadows of the three MCs they foil: for Illumi, Killua, for Hisoka, Gon, and for Chrollo, Kurapika. They represent the traits the three protagonists (sorry Leorio) don't want to acknowledge in themselves, and therefore their encounters with their shadows are particularly thematic and powerful. Also, one doesn't usually kill their shadow, but instead integrates with it, so I highly doubt the three of them will be killed by their respective protagonist.
Tumblr media
Meruem (Hunter x Hunter)
Yes, again, HxH. It has great antagonists. But Meruem's development is literally one of the most powerful I've ever read about. I don't know anyone who starts his story not loathing him, hoping he dies, and then by the end of it, ebfore you've even realized it's happening, you're crying for him and Komugi. His arc explores human nature at its finest, most horrific, and ultimately most beautiful.
Tumblr media
Furuta Nimura (Tokyo Ghoul:re)
Furuta's a fantastic villain whom I wish got a better ending (not even redeemed really, but just... something more). He was so damaged by the system of an unfair world that he made it his life goal to become the villain and burn the system down, destroy it no matter what it took--and also hoped to destroy himself in the process, as he was born knowing he would die young and longed for it. I wish he had been forced to live.
Tumblr media
Mori Ougai (Bungo Stray Dogs)
Mori's utilitarianism is chilling. He's not exactly unlikable, despite being absolutely morally repugnant, and the Beast AU from Asagiri himself shows us that Mori is certainly capable of a positive life and positive change; however, within the canonical story, I don't see that for him. He's been set up IMO as the final boss of the series, and his habit of targeting the most vulnerable (especially children) to control people is almost certainly going to bite Dazai in the ass eventually.
Tumblr media
Eren Jaeger (Shingeki no Kyojin)
I can't believe I'm writing this. I don't know what to call Eren: he's the protagonist, and he's sunk to becoming the final boss. While it's possible he, like Furuta and like Lelouch of Code Geass, is playing the villain, I really hope not, as I think the themes are much more powerful if Eren sincerely believes what he proclaims to believe. He's a kid who has always wanted to fight for freedom and for the people around him, and now we're seeing the dark side of those traits, wherein he's destroying the world via genocide to save the people close to him. He's driven by fear and by anger at the cruelty and unfairness of the world, and he's forgotten the beauty of it. I hope Mikasa can  remind him before the end.
Tumblr media
Fyodor Dostoyevsky (Bungo Stray Dogs)
MY BOY. Look if a character is named after my very favorite real-life author, I must stan. But actually I do think Fyodor is well written and a master manipulator. He's modeled after my favorite character in all of fiction, Dostoyesvky's Demons' Alexei Kirillov. He really seems to want human connection, to live, and has forgotten that empathy is an important and necessary part of both of those. I hope--and think it is likely given BSD's prolific redemption arcs--that he will remember eventually.
Tumblr media
Lee Yut-Lung (Banana Fish)
Again,, he's less a villain than an antagonist. Like Ash, the main character, he is a teenage boy betrayed by the people who were supposed to protect him and abused his whole entire life. He's driven by a desperate need to be loved and jealousy that Ash is loved while he is not. His ending, when Sing finally tells him he will in fact be staying by Yut-Lung's side and will help Yut-Lung redeem himself, "because you're in pain... your soul's bleeding, even now" is literally the perfect ending for him.
Tumblr media
Jin Guangyao (Mo Dao Zu Shi)
I've written a lot on Jin Guangyao, but he's a walking tragedy. He ties with Wei Wuxian, the protagonist, as my favorite, and the reason is because they are two sides of the same coin--in fact, they're the same side of the same coin. They're not very different, and the fact that he finally at least got empathy in the end and was able to push the person he loved most to safety because of that--well. Brb time to cry.

my biggest worry about the UA traitor is that it won’t feel significant as the major characters suspected in being it don’t play a big role in the story leading up to now.. like aoyama yes he might cause shock but hagakure?? she doesn’t done much imo but i do think she is the traitor i just wish hori given her some spotlight early on to lead to the moment and the suspense yk
fwiw, you're not alone, anon; I see this concern crop up pretty much every single time there's a U.A. traitor discussion. but the thing is, there's an underlying assumption here that the sole purpose of a plot twist is to shock people. and I would argue that's not true. imo, a well-written plot twist serves many purposes, and shocking the audience is only one of them, and far from the most important one. (in fact, I'd argue that it's not even strictly necessary.) here are four that I can think of right off the top of my head.
they catch and hold the audience's attention. this isn't the case for all plot twists, but it's certainly true for ones which the author chooses to deliberately dangle before the audience, as Horikoshi chose to do with the U.A. traitor plot. if he really wanted to shock people with the reveal, it would have been better for him not to call attention to it in the first place. there was no need whatsoever to have Present Mic bring it up back in chapter 83. but he chose to go that route because he wanted the readers to notice, and he wanted them to start thinking about it and to start speculating about the traitor's identity. it gets the audience excited, and it gives them an incentive to keep reading to see how the story will play out.
they encourage the audience to engage more with the story. the U.A. traitor plot is easily one of the most talked-about elements in the entire story. at this point I don't think there's a single teacher or student character who hasn't been the target of suspicion at some point or other. and again, this was a conscious trade-off on Horikoshi's part, because it would have been much easier to blindside readers with the eventual reveal if they weren't out here forming all of these exhaustive theories. announcing that There Is A Traitor pretty much guarantees that no matter who it ends up being, someone will have predicted it ahead of time. but the trade-off is that fans are paying closer attention to the story, and continuing to think about the plot even when they're not reading the manga, and engaging in more discussion with their fellow fans. and all of that is more than worth the loss of the shock element imo.
they add new layers and depth to the story. this is the hallmark of all of the most iconic plot twists. anyone can write a story and tag on some sort of half-assed unpredictable heel turn at the end in order to try and surprise people and make themselves look smart. but the best plot twists are the ones which actually make sense, and which have foreshadowing sprinkled in throughout the story, so that when you go back and look at everything a second time it makes you go, "ohhh, that's why." a good plot twist should be just as enjoyable to read the second and third time around, even after the shock value has expired, because the satisfaction of seeing a well-planned and executed plot development is still there. and with the very best twists, the story is actually even more enjoyable to go back and reread afterwards, because the knowledge of the twist adds new insight and context and perspective to all of the previous scenes.
and last but not least, they add suspense. there are plenty of ways to keep your readers on their toes that don't necessarily involve surprises coming out of left-field. and this is another thing that the author gains when they make that calculated sacrifice of announcing a plot twist ahead of time. the reader is no longer going to be shocked, because they're now anticipating it -- but that anticipation is a great consolation prize in and of itself. and so with this particular plot, for instance, there's more to the U.A. Traitor Mystery than just the question of who it is. there's also the questions of why, and most important of all, the question of what will happen when everyone finds out? and those questions add a ton of suspense to the story. when will AFO call on Hagakure again? what will he ask her to do? what's going to happen if and when she finally gets caught? how exactly is Aoyama involved in all this? and how will the other members of class A react?? each of these questions has enough inherent suspense that you could make a separate cliffhanger out of each and every one of them if you wanted to.
the thing that everyone always seems to overlook is that the reveal isn't the point. the reveal, when it happens, is going to be a one-time thing which will only be in play for a single chapter at most, after which the plot needs to still be able to stand on all of its other merits. so for instance, suppose that Horikoshi does go for shock over substance, and decides to go with someone "unexpected" like Ochako. sure, you get the shock value, because no one seriously expects it to be her. and maybe to some people it would feel more impactful, because she has a closer connection to Deku and the other characters. but the trade-off is that a twist like that would make absolutely no sense. it completely lacks the careful foreshadowing of the Hagakure/Aoyama twist. and it would detract from Ochako's character development, rather than adding on to it, because it would completely undo so much of what her character journey has been about up until now. all of that sacrificed just for the sake of a one-time twist, which a good chunk of readers would be spoiled for in advance thanks to the weekly spoiler leak cycle. ymmv, but to me that would absolutely not be worth it, and would be a huge waste of both Ochako's character, and of all the careful work that Horikoshi has done to weave this whole plot together.
on the other hand, the fact that Hagakure has had next to no spotlight up till now is exactly what makes her the perfect candidate. with her there's no need to worry about undoing years of carefully planned character development. there's no need to worry about the twist not making sense, or not holding up to the scrutiny of hindsight, because all of Hagakure's interactions with the other characters have always been curiously superficial. we know next to nothing about her family or history or motivations. her character is pretty much a blank slate, which makes her pretty much the only person in 1-A whose betrayal wouldn't feel awkward and forced and completely unnatural.
and as for everyone who's already made up their minds that her betrayal would lack any impact, I think they're both underestimating the amount of impact that any betrayal from one of class A's own would have, and also underestimating Horikoshi's ability to deliver when it comes to ninth-inning backstories. Dabi's backstory came pretty late in the game as well for instance, and that didn't take away from its impact at all. and the same goes for Hawks as well. just because Hagakure doesn't have any backstory yet doesn't mean she's not going to get one. and if you think Horikoshi doesn't have something good cooked up after all this time, then I don't know what else to tell you, except just, "wait and see."
anyway so yeah. and also just a reminder once again that even though fandom sometimes gets bogged down in this kind of discussion involving our personal opinions as to who would be the best traitor candidate, or the most shocking or meaningful or unexpected, etc., at the end of the day the actual evidence we have all points to Hagakure. I know I sound like a broken record at this point, but yeah lol.

the thing that kills me about bakugou is when the plf go "having a powerful quirk means i'm better than you"and basically advocate for eugenics, it's horrible and corrupt, but when bakugou does it, it's lol funny and 'oh that gremlin.' in a recent chapter he made fun of the past OFA holders for having 'weak' quirks and dying and he said these things in front of Toshi, who has himself given so much. just...what was the point of him knowing about OFA if he was just going to be a disrespectful ass?
I have no idea why it was necessary for him to know, tbh. I think it was a waste of an opportunity to give him growth by NOT telling him. And honestly, I agree that k*tsuki and the plf have similar ideals because they’re elitists. :/ They think they’re better than others. Unironically, the lov wanting k*tsuki on their side would have been like, them all sharing this same thought. Idk, I just don’t like him. The things he says and does are played off as comedic relief now and it’s honestly so annoying. He needs to be brought down from his pedestal.
(I have multiple messages so I am putting them all in one post under a read more, I hope it works, but if somehow it doesn’t, I’m really sorry. My computer says it works, but mobile doesn’t show it. This will be a long post.)

You know... I wouldn’t mind Bakugou winning vs Ochako so much if his blast had simply redirected enough rubble for him to make it though the pelting, and the fight had ended with an actual visible inflicted injury on his part, like a cut on his face, that stuck around for the rest of the tournament. Make the close call have more concrete, visible consequences for him then his arms aching a bit.
I agree with this completely. That thing about his arms aching doesn’t show much of the consequences at all. And he gets over it rather quickly. I hate that he has so much plot armor.

Ngl i dont ship Todo/deku (dont really ship Izuku with anyone lol) but its such a nice ship like?? People can ship what they want but why ship Baku/deku when Tododeku is RIGHT THERE. I would rather have todo/deku be the twin stars like.. Todoroki having to overcome his fathers legacy and be a better hero then his father ever could be while Izuku perpetuates all mights legacy and carries the legacy of One For All?? Poetic cinema
+ I SENT AN ASK ABOUT PREFERRING TODO/DEKU TO BAKU/DEKU AND I WANTED TO ADD SOMETHING SKSKS. we could totally have an "its your power" moment. Izuku getting Todo to accept his left side and Todo getting Izuku to remember that OFA is his power now.
Todo/deku is really the poetic cinema we need and deserve. Idk why people like b*kud*ku, that’s what they prefer, but the ship itself is not healthy in the slightest and I find it pretty disturbing. I agree with you, nony. Everything you said is correct.

If I'm gonna be honest the whole "he was raised in a household of screaming and abuse" isn't a good enough reason as to why Bakugo has no chill. Like we've seen people like Todoroki raised in a household much worst but he didn't come out as a jerk or bully. I'd like to see more of Bakugo's interactions with his parents but for the most part the dad seems like a pushover and his mom is just loud at times. But no where close to Endeavor. So yeah Bakugo shut up challenge
Yeah, idk how their dynamic works, it’s just mitsuki screaming at k*tsuki while his dad tries to intervene, but doesn’t do a good job about it. I don’t like that she smacked his head. But I think people really stretch it to give him a tragic backstory when in reality, he doesn’t have one. He is a spoiled brat. Shouto has proven how to be a better person. He’s just a better character in general.

This might be long but I want to get something off my chest and I love your blog so I used to like bk//dk. If you asked me why. It's because I was enamored by the fanon ver of this pair with a better bkg and the whole appeal of childhood 'friends'/reconciliation trope it had going on and some fans have convinced me that their relationship wasn't as bad as it's portrayed before UA and that bkg was only like that because of society and thinking Izuku was "looking down" at him. 1/3
Thinking about it. it's really stupid and the verge of victim blaming but anyways. What stopped me from liking it and instead hating the pair is that after dk vs kc 2 I was expecting the improvement in their relationship, for a moment I thought we got it. But in reality it's just bc we haven't seen them interact much after the overhaul arc and before the joint training arc. Then the joint arc came and the 2nd internship arc came and whoo boy, I feel like I was cheated on. 2/3
Rather than making bkg's behavior improve towards Izuku, He's still as much of an asshole who belittles him, mocks him ,acts like he can't stand him but less threats of killing him combined with Izuku who just takes it because he's a nice person. But the narrative acts like their good friends now and I have been feeling so frustrated with this, I wanted a mutual relationship with mutual respect on both sides and bk//dk hasn't reached that part and it shouldn't take this long for it to be. 3/3
Thank you for sharing this with me, nony!! I appreciate it. It’s really sad that their relationship hasn’t improved at all. It’s so long overdue and now things are played as comedic relief like him hurting Izuku with his spike and also being extremely disrespectful during the ofa meetings. Their relationship isn’t healthy and it isn’t friendly, no matter how canon wants to paint it that way.
Anonymous said:
the only reason bkg gets to know OFA is because he guilted Izu into telling him a half truth in S1 then guilted AM and Izu with his tantrum in S3 He also had the privilege to know Izu since childhood and saw AFO so he had the advantage Izuku would have never told him otherwise. Same time Izuku's friends don't "deserve" to know about OFA, rather, Izuku deciding to tell them himself will make the revelation to them more special since its Izu deciding to tell a piece of himself than being forced to

i just wanted to say i appreciate your opinion on bnha about bakugo (bc someone finally said it 👀) and you put into words for me how i feel abt that character - and that's partly why i just can't watch it. he's the bully that everyone idolises and gets let away with murder and naaaah mate that's not how it works
Thank you, I’m glad to hear it. I don’t like that he, a literal bully who has suicide baited Izuku and has hurt him with his explosion quirk, is the fandom’s favorite and the most popular character. Literally any other character would have been better to stan than him. He’s everywhere and I can’t enjoy part of the series because of him always being there. It’s so annoying. I will continue to yell about why he is not a good character until horikoshi gives us the development he desperately needs AND an apology to Izuku for being so abusive to him. And yes, bullying is abuse.
Anonymous said:
I know that feeling. I also greatly dislike Bakugou. He almost ruins the manga for me at times. I can't even think of a plot with Izuku where Hori won't try to include him in some way. I tried reading metas abt him, tried to look at him in a different light but I realised that I really hate his personality, combined with his overhyped popularity just makes me can't stand him. I wish I could even just be neutral for him but that's being a challenge.
Yeah, he’s not a good character. Very infuriating and annoying. We do not stan him in this house.
Anonymous said:
I feel like if Aizawa actually knew that Bakugou used to bully Izuku he'd probably whoop Bakugou's ass
OOF I’d like to see him expel him.
Anonymous said:
I like how it's framed like I'm supposed to feel sorry for Bakugou because he feels manpain for not being the strongest in the class. Like the dude went from a regular school to the best of the best and he still expected to be the strongest person there is with no challenge?
Awww, is the spoiled brat sad? Good. He can die mad about it.
Anonymous said:
If Aizawa did the combat training instead of All Might he would've stopped Bakugou the first time he used his gauntlets and automatically failed him and I really wish that would've been the outcome
Tbh he should have been expelled for trying to kill a classmate.
Anonymous said:
Oh yeah I remember that character entrance when he just basically I insults his partner for training. Look I love the kid but if I was a teacher I would've flamed him so hard like there could've been a hostage, that weapon could have went off, his partner could've been captured. That's how you ended up failing the license exam
OOF. When will he learn.

Um excuse the ever living fuck out of me but I just saw a fic that was bakugou/consequences where Izuku attempted suicide and you know what the ship was?? My pure green son who deserves the world and his literal bully/abuser are you SHITTING ME???? I try very hard not to hate ships I do really try but I just CAN'T with this ship it disgusts me
It's not a healthy ship. I am disturbed by this fic and I don’t even know what it’s called and I don’t want to know. Eww.
Anonymous said:
I see myself as Izuku cause I relate to him a lot and I just read something where Bakugou does what my abuser did to me to Izuku and now I'm having a very hard time stomaching the thought of him and like I really loved kiri/baku too but now I can't even think about it cause someone who shipped my notp thought it would be a good idea to make Bakugou an abuser and give Izuku Stockholm syndrome ☹
Oh nony…I’m so sorry to hear about that. That really sounds rough and I hope you’re feeling better. That sounds awful. I’m just…I’m appalled. Also giving Izuku Stockholm syndrome with this ship is just. Wow.

Just An Opinion 2
Alright, if you’ve read the first one, here’s another, even though I’m posting this right after the first one.
Koda Koji, also from MHA/BnHA. Because he’s also super extremely underrated.
1. I just want to throw this out there; Koda would make one of the most feared and powerful villains in the world due to his quirk. He can command animals to do things for him! He could probably wipe out the entire human race if he so pleased! But since he’s becoming a hero, I bet you he’ll easily make it to the top. Will he become the number 1 hero? Maybe. Would he want that? Probably not. But with his quirk, he would easily become and amazing hero. And imagine spy missions to gather information and such. Mice or bugs could just listen in and give him the information he needs. And full on battles? Did you know there are plenty of cats and dogs and raccoons and foxes and wolves and other animals that could live in the city? Raccoons are evil, k? You’d be so screwed against him.
2. He’s very shy and timid, and doesn’t talk much. He’s a big softie, and looks like he’d give the best cuddles in the world. Did anyone else watch My Little Pony as a kid? He’s literally Fluttershy. I bet you anything that if his friends are in danger, he’ll step up and save everyone. He has a heart of gold, and he’s very strong, too. He’s maybe the most adorable character in all of MHA, both personality wise, and appearance wise. I’ll fight anyone on this. Just imagine how utterly adorable he was when he was little! (Ooh, I need to draw that. Too bad I’ve no clue how to post art on this. Someone help).
3. It annoys me how people ship Jirou with Kaminari so quickly, but so few ship Jirou with Koda, just because Koda isn’t a stereotypical hot/cute anime boy. Now personally, they aren’t a ship I really pay much attention to (I do like the ship though. I think they’d be a super cool duo), but that’s because Jirou and Momo, and also because Koda and Sato. I don’t need to explain myself, unless someone asks and/or I decide to make another series about my ships. So. Yeah. Back to the point, people who judge others on their looks just kinda piss me off. Koda doesn’t need to be hot/cute, he just needs to be himself. (I mean, people like Shigaraki, so I don’t know why y’all so quick to brush off Koda. Like, wtf?)
4. He’s very supportive of his friends. He encouraged Jirou to do the concert, mentioning that it’s ‘well situated in the work of a hero’, which probably made her feel a little better about her whole ‘musician or hero’ thing. I imagine he’d be maybe one of the best friends anyone could ever ask for. He talks very soft and his voice is very kind and encouraging. I stand by the fact that he would be the voice of reason in arguments, and the best comforter. He’s the type to listen to you through all your worries and troubles, and help you face them. He’d be that one friend that supports you through anything you do, and would spend nights with you preparing for a test you weren’t sure of. He’s that one friend who you could trust to look after your pets, or who can always tell when somethings wrong. He’s that one friend that everybody wants. A friend that everybody needs.
5. Actually, during that last one, I started to tear up a bit, because I don’t have that friend (she moved away, and I’ll probably never see her again). I tend to be that friend in my friend group, but that means I’m left with no one to confide in that’ll listen and take me seriously and just really be there for me. Which makes me think that... maybe he feels that way too. Maybe part of the reason he’s so shy and not very open is because he is that friend, and can’t exactly confide in himself. So he stays shut off and alone. (I love complicated and sad backstories, don’t you? They really give depth to a character) But as we’ve seen, he’s started to get a little more social and happy around his classmates. Because he finally feels like he has that kind of friend too. (Can’t wait until I find that kind of friend again... why do they always move away? Has anyone else had that happen more than once? It’s the worst feeling in the world).
I know that last one was probably not canon, but he reminds me a lot of myself, so I just thought it worked. Horikoshi should have some episodes dedicated to investing in all of the side characters, like he did with Aoyama. Maybe he will, as filler episodes. I just get a vibe from a lot of the characters that they are so much more than meets the eye. Like Shouji. I really want to know his backstory.
Whelp, that’s all for right now. Might do another one directly after this, so if you’ve found this and are interested, stay tuned, because there are probably many more since you first found this. Probably. Thinking realistically. Because I have nothing better to do, and I find this fun.

✨Febuary Dances
Heya everybody! This is a Aoyama x reader! Basically UA has a dance and you and Aoyaoma bith want to wear dresses so you decide that both should! No one said you both couldnt wear dresses together! Also i dont his backstory so im making it up so please dont be mad or offended.- Author-san
Aoyama x reader
Gender neutral reader and nonbinary Yuuga Aoyama
Quirk: light dance, you can manipulate the light when you dance such as making it shine in certain places or making it burn someone, this can also cause you to glow when flustered or excited
Warnings: mentions of high heels and dancing
Begin!
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Y/N PoV
"-there will also be a Febuary dance to celebrate all of your successes as coming this far in your training. It will be on Febuary 13th an begins at 7:30. I hope to see you all there" the class 1B teacher said. Febuary dance? Huh, sounds fun i guess... I began to think of who to take with me when the bell rang and everyone got up to leave and head to lunch. "Bonjour Y/N! Would you like to sit with me?" Aoyama asked as i stopped walking to let them catch up. "Huh? Sure!" i smiled with closed eyes before continuing to walk with Aoyama.
"So, you hear about the Febuary dance Y/N?" i looked up at Jiro with confusion for a moment, "huh? Oh! Haha yeah, not sure who im gonna bring though.." i said as glaced over at Aoyama who was currently talking with Midoriya at the other end of the table. "Really? Well I heard Kirishima was going with Bakugou so thats new!" Kirishima and Bakugo? "Really? Good for them! Im glad they finally decided to come out about their relationship!" i genuinely am happy they came out and that they're going together, i wish i had that confidence with Aoyama. I still remember when we were little and how they were so much less confident back then.
3rd person PoV
Two small kids one with short blond hair and the other with (your hair length and color), both just sitting on the young blonds bed talking. "Its flashy but its useless if i cant use it for more then a second" the young Yuuga said as their eyes began to fill with tears. "Then you'll just have to train more! That way eventually you'll be able to use it as long as you want!" a young Y/N spoke with such determination that it almost convinced the young Yuuga, "b-but I'll never be as strong as you! I'll never be a good hero!" young Yuuga shouted crying at this point, But of course our determined little Y/N wasnt having it. "Of course not with that attitude!" young Y/N spoke with determination as they stood above their best friend, "You cant give up without even trying! Would almight give up!? No! So why should you! We'll train together and both become great heros! No matter what happens we'll always stay together! I'll make sure you become a good hero!" the young Y/N spoke with so much power that Yuuga swore that day to be as confident as them..
Y/N PoV
"Y/N??? Yyyyyy/nnnn! (your full name)!" "eep!" i squeaked as i was suddenly supried out of my spaced out state. "What! What happened!?" i said as i looked around frantically. "Haha! Calm down! Nothings wrong you just spaced out is all" Jiro said as i calmed down and sighed. "So who are you gonna bring to the febuary dance?" "dude i already said i dont know yet." i said with a dead panned look sighing, "well how would you like to go dress-" "or tuxedo!" "yes, or tuxedo shopping with us?" Momo asked as Hagakure interrupted. "Sure, sounds fun."
(time skip because i still cant write you walking to places)
"So wich one do think looks better?" Mina asked me as she showed me two similiar pink dresses. "Hmm, the second one i guess"
I said as she smiled and went to go put the other back.
"Dont forget to get something yourself Y/N!"
I nodded and began to look around for a bit before finding one i really liked. It was long and a bit flowy, it was a beautiful golden yellow with yellow tinted clear fabric covering the legs and beautiful swirly accents, it was a bit open on the sides but it had orange accessories on the belly, legs and upper arms. It had an light orange bra like top with a yellow lace cover and soft yellow clear fabric. The sides, back, and middle front of the dress were a silky soft fabric with a yellow orange gradient. It had a golden orange neck peice like the ones female Egyptians used to wear along with one gold triangle earing on one of the ears.
"..woah.."
I said as i reached to touch it, the fabric was so soft.
"Find one you like y- woah! Thats stunning!"
Mina said as she was awwed by the dress
"I can get it for you Y/N"
Momo said as she walked over to us and smiled
"H-huh!? But its so exspenisive! I-"
She cut me off,
"Its fine Y/N! Really! I dont mind"
I stuttered an ok and she pat my head
"You should try it on Y/N! I wanna see how good you look in it!"
Mina said as she jumped,
"S-sure"
I stuttered as i grabbed the dress and left to the changing room, a bit later and i walked out in the dress staring at the ground.
"Well? How do i look?"
I heard a few gasps and suddenly i was hugged by Jiro, Mina and Ochako
"YOU LOOK AMAZING!!"
(Again i really need to learn this)
"Well we're here!"
I heard Mina shout as i got out of the car and began to walk to the doors with her and Jiro next to me. I walked over to the benches to sit and look for Yuuga, see they asked me to go with them about two days before the dance and right after i picked out my dress.
"Bonjour Y/N! You look absolutely stunning darling but if i knew we were both wearing dresses i might have said something!"
I hear them laugh as i turned around to look at them, they were wearing a wonderful dark blue dress with a light blue cover that had sky blue swirls and dots. It had a cream colored ribon tied into a rose with greyish blue outlines, neon blue dots on the bottom and white swirls on the chest piece, it had a blue neck piece with a small white rose keeping it together, they had black gloves and a beaded arm piece on one arm. It was flowy and long like mine but the bottom split to show their legs and black rose vine heels with blue roses.
"You look amazing Yuuga!"
I blushed as they laughed and saw that they were wearing soft yellow lipstick, i was wearing dark blue. We really fit together,
"Well thank you! Care to dance?"
They asked holding out their hand.
"Of course!"
I grabbed their hand and we went to the dance floor, i put my hand on their waist and they put their hand on my shoulder, our other hands locked together and we begun to move to the song.
I nearing the end of my fourth year
I feel like ive been lacking, crying to many tears
Everyone seemed to say it was so great
But did i miss out? Was it a huge mistake?
I spun them a bit and we moved faster
I cant help the fact i like to be alone
It might sound kinda sad, but thatd just what i seem to know
I tend to handle things usually by myself
And i cant ever seem to try and ask for help
We clapped and they spun me our movements faster, one foot after the other i danced with them
Im sitting here, crying in my prom dress
I'd be the prom queen if crying was a contest
Makeup is running down
We laughed a bit and contuined
Feelings are all around
We blushed as we looked at each others eyes
How did i get here? i need to know
I guess i maybe had a couple expectations
Thought id get to them
I begun to dance away from them without realizing, my quirk was activating nad the light followed a pattern around me as i danced
But no i didn't
I guess i thought that prom was gonna be fun
But now im sitting on the floor and all i wanna do is run
I realized what i was doing when i felt everyone staring at me, i looked around scared before seeing Yuuga looking at me wide eyed.
"....i-i im sorry!....."
I ran out of the building in fear, i cant believe i did that! I kept running until i made it back to my dorm, i knew it was a bad idea to go to the dance.
(a few hours later)
*Knock knock*
"Hello? Darling its me"
I heard Yuuga through my door
"Darling im coming in.."
I heard the door open and saw them close it behind them
"..hey.."
I mumbled a "hello"
"..Yknow i thought your dance was amazing darling."
I looked at them with shock,
"Really?"
They nodded
"I'd still like to finish our dance if you dont mind.."
"Here?"
They hummed a "no"
"Not here, somewhere special. C'mon get cleaned up and we can go"
"...alright...thank you"
They hummed a response and waited outside while i fixed my makeup and put my shoes back on.
"Alright, where are we going?"
"You'll see"
(Wow so many of these in one story like damn)
Thousands of colored lights shined below us, we were on a grassy cliff aith a few trees.
"....woah this is....amazing.."
I felt Yuuga hug grab my hands with theirs and turn me around to face them
"So, wanna dance?"
I nodded glowing a soft gold
One foot after the other we danced slowly and calmly, it was peaceful and quiet besides the hum of the city below us.
We stared into each others eyes, the soft glow of the lights below us illuminating our faces. Closer amd closer our lips touched and our eyes closed, it was soft and a bit longer then a peck but it was amazing. Softs gasps as our eyes and lips parted,
"I...love you"
They sighed a bit
"I love you too Y/N.."

Horikoshi knew exactly what he was doing, that Hawks and Miruko were gonna be everyone's favorites from the top ten. That aside, what do you think of the Keigo is Mikkun (Tenko's friend) theory? For one, if Deku had a childhood friend why not Tomura? Two, red wings! Both of them knew someone with them. Even if it's not true, theres so many parallels with Hawks and Tomura if they ever meet???? Gosh, after betraying the League I have no clue how it's gonna be okay.
I SURE BET HE DID, ANON. QAQ He certainly got me hook, line, and sinker, and now I would die for those two. I also would have loved Ryukyu because her quirk is truly epic, but her personality ended up not leaving any particular impression on me... :c
Anyways: Aaah, I had actually never heard of that theory before, but I love it! I am actually so sad that we never got to see Hawks and Shigaraki interact before the betrayal, because, yes, I feel like they essentially grew up with the same backstory and I was really, really looking forward to seeing them together! They were both kids abandoned by their parents (and I do mean abandoned in Shigaraki’s case - the rest of his family really turned their backs on his father’s abuse), which eventually led to them being alone and taken advantage of by an opportunistic higher power at a young age. They were both groomed into becoming what they are now, both deliberately and systematically stripped of their names and their identities and shoved into a restrictive mold until they could only grow into what their respective mentors wanted them to be.
I think them having started out as childhood friends would be spectacular. Baby Tenko mentions that Mikkun gets left out a lot by the other kids, which would make sense to me when you consider how judgmental kids can be and that Hawks comes from what looks like a poor, neglectful background and was a quiet, withdrawn kid. The fact that they could have started so close and with such good intentions, been treated the same way, and not realized it until they ended up as terrible enemies would be very narratively satisfying to me. Keigo, the kid that Tenko went out of his way to be a hero to even though it earned his father’s ire. Tenko, one of the only people that paid Keigo any positive attention at all when he was an isolated, lonely kid.
Even in current canon, I feel like they could connect over a lot. The trouble is, of course, everything else happening in canon, haha - actually, let me just recommend one of my all-time favorite fics: Gods // Monsters, by pariahpirate is not a childhood friends fic, but it does a genuinely fantastic job exploring the parallel histories that Hawks and Shigaraki have (among other things).
