The placements on each tier is deliberate, the closer the character is to the top of that tier, the higher they are. I judge them by: >Prominence of the Talent, its practicality >Relevance to the character's identity/personality >Colour and aesthetics :]

[S-TIERS]

Like Gundham for example is an S-Tier design as it ticks all above boxes whilst still in a school uniform. The Four Dark Devas are important to the design, they go with him everywhere and the 5 of them are a UNIT which shows his strong connection with animals. I love the bandages and the eye-scar as it has a double meaning that indicates yes he works with animals (they can be rowdy), but as a character Gundham builds onto this detail using these scars to create this dark angsty facade. Aesthetic-wise by his hair he has a unique character silhouette, and I like how his purple is made the focal point by the blacks and whites of his uniform... both reinforcing the villain-facade and highlighting the importance of the Four Dark Devas.

Similar reasonings for the other Top 2 of Souda and Miu this time toppled with the strong yellows and pinks in their design. It's eye-catching and easily conveys what their talent is. (I really wish they kept Miu's promo-art backpack into her regular sprites, imagine her emoting with 4 arms isn't that awesome >:] )

Honorable mention to Impostor (Twogami) as well. While the regular Togami design is... mid. I really appreciate how contrasting Impostor's colours and accessories are down to the necktie and poses! Like yes they are impersonating Togami, but their values and personality as a person are not the same. The deception of Togami's dark clothing vs honest white suit of the Impostor's. Impostor fucking CLEARS regular togami any day on all accounts I will die on that hill.

[GOOD CHARACTER DESIGN]

A lot of the talent indications on this tier are more subtle in compare to S-tier but they get the job done and they do it in a pleasing way (I like the colour palettes on Chiaki, Mikan and Ibuki for example). Like I loveeee Sonia's uniform especially for it's simplicity. And yet the design still alludes to the Princess talent by elegance in the bow, the brooch, her crowned braid and how the shape of her skirt resembles that of a puffy princess gown. I also think the reds in the design like Snow White are a cute touch!

To me, Sonia should be the standard in what a Danganronpa design SHOULD be in accordance to detail.

[BAD CHARACTER DESIGN]

[ie the Green and Blue tiers] Reasoning why I put them here mainly because of wasted potential, either too basic (in a sense it doesn't tell much about that character) or not practical in any way for their talent... I HATE Ryoma's stripe leggings ik he went to prison but the execution of the concept looks awful.

And I hate Akane's and Sakura's outfits particularly cuz you KNOW why they made those skirts so short and I hate that. We could have gotten awesome gymnast of martial artist outfits but no......

I added Kiibo in that bottom tier because structurally even as a robot he is a visual nightmare if you're an artist trying to draw him. Especially when most of his suit is different shades of black and complicated chest cavity. And I despise the way that it looks like these robo-plates are attached on top of what looks like fabric long sleeves and pants as if the designer was too scared to fully commit to him being a robot. He is NOT 3D-optimised and he is NOT animator-friendly I'd throw up if I ever had to deal with him.

also have this sketches lalala, they are so broppy but like in the way if you’re crazy enough to understand (poppy is determined and outgoing and she tries to see the bright side, however when things don’t work out her way she gets surprised-surprised, but she gets back up again… ok sorry… while branch is paranoid and has four brothers that left him when he was younger and caused abandonment issues — errrmm, but he’s also a total nerd that does nerd stuff and he’s such a caring guy) I LOVEEEE TROLLS

anyways these are headcanons about like. everything i can think of for now. yayyy

Benthomaar really loves listening to the Ninja's experiences on their previous missions, and that eventually led to Lloyd pouring everything he had in his mind to him, may it be good or bad. At first, Lloyd got embarassed when he got carried away because he's not used to having an active audience to listen to him, but the more he listens to Benthomaar's calm and intrigued responses, he becomes a lot more comfortable. The Ninja are glad that Lloyd has someone he can talk to than just keeping it to himself.

Sometimes when Lloyd talks to Benthomaar, he lays his head on his lap and drift off to his words, then he snaps back and notices his bangs were somehow braided.

It's a mutual comfort that they share a lot of things with each other. For Benthomaar, he'd ask so many questions about the surface world, about the nature to the people. He also loved sharing about what Merlopia is like, why wouldn't a King be proud of their nation anyways? When it comes to cultural experiences, he promises Lloyd that they'll find the time to do them together. He hopes that Lloyd could fall in love with the sea as much as he fell in love with the land.

Benthomaar's words are so polite and formal, sometimes he can be very poetic, Lloyd thinks he talks like a storybook or sounds like a lullaby, and sometimes he falls asleep listening to Benthomaar's voice. Somehow, Lloyd always finds a more peaceful rest when he does.

(There's like a layer of lore behind this reasoning, but my own worldbuilding has Merlopians be blessed or chosen by certain sea animals to have their traits) Benthomaar doesn't need to sleep all the time, he feels exhaustion only after something stressful or incredibly tiring. So he mostly spends his time wide awake — and his old habit was to spend his time reading boks, but now, whenever Lloyd is with him, he'd also take his time to watch over him while he sleeps.

It was Nya and Kai who told him that Lloyd struggled with sleeping peacefully, he'd always shake around or wake up from a nightmare. Most of the time, he wouldn't tell the others about it because he doesn't want to bother them, but they could always hear him and know either way. He doesn't like to talk about it.

Noticing how comfortable Lloyd is with Benthomaar, she asked if he could help, so he did. Lloyd was pretty stubborn and insistent that he didn't need anything, he doesn't want to bother Benthomaar more than he already has. But Benthomaar explains how it's not like he has anything better to do than stay awake and ponder while everyone else is asleep.

If Lloyd woke up restless, Benthomaar was there to calm him down and reassure him. If he was restless in his sleep, then Benthomaar would do the same nonetheless. And Lloyd would wake up looking much better than he did previously, the Ninja noticed this change too. (Benthomaar definitely earned a bunch of points from his In-Laws).

On the topic of finding it hard to fall asleep peacefully, Benthomaar faces the opposite problem from Lloyd. Whenever he overworks or tries to push himself as much as he can to continue his tasks, even until the point he tires himself out, he'll immediately fall asleep wherever he is — and he doesn't wake up.

The first time Lloyd saw him in that state, it was during the coronation month. Benthomaar was pretty much passed out on his chair, his head was resting on the table, and Lloyd tried to shake his shoulder to wake him up, or call his name, but nothing worked. Lloyd decided that he should rather just get Benthomaar to rest somewhere comfortable and not on his workspace.

Anyways, the first thing Benthomaar noticed when he woke up, was that he was covered in a warm blanket - from the surface, and that he was on a cushioned couch, a distance away from his desk.

Benthomaar taught the Ninja how to do Merlopian Sign Language as a way for Merlopians to communicate underwater (talking would cause a lot of bubbles and discomfort during conversations, so much more). When Benthomaar teaches Lloyd, he'd always find a way to sneak in a few jokes, or tease him, but he's pretty smooth with it. He is AWFUL at it.

"Bentho, how do you sign my name?"

"Your name, Lloyd? That is a simple structure to work with..." And guess what Benthomaar signed?

"I don't remember L looking like that..."

"Because it is not an L, this means cute in Merlopian. Do both not fit you?"

If Lloyd messes up a gesture, Benthomaar would hold his hands and recorrect him. Sometimes, Lloyd does his mistakes intentionally so that Benthomaar would hold his hands.

Benthomaar signs kind words on the scars that's on Lloyd, sometimes he does those on bad days, but sometimes he does it randomly. At first, Lloyd didn't understand why, then Benthomaar explained how he believes that despite all the wounds that have scarred on the person, no matter mentally or physically, their presence still exists, it matters, and they're still trying to persevere past that. Striving past the burdens of the past is incredibly difficult, and so the people who are able to, he believes they are very strong. Of course, with that point Benthomaar believes that Lloyd is incredibly strong. (They hugged after that because Lloyd didn't want Benthomaar to see him cry)

... Lloyd and Benthomaar have a specific sign that they use to greet each other. (Benthomaar also has one with Jay)

Benthomaar prefers to be served raw fish. Any fish that is cooked or heavily seasoned tastes weird to him (he’s not used to it, but he tries) — so whenever they hang out in the city, Lloyd’s go-to is always a sushi bar because that’s one of the few places where they both can eat fish without the other getting sickly of it. (Benthomaar loves Sashimi oh I bet 100%)

Due to their culinary cultures being vastly different, it took them awhile to adjust and figure out what the other likes. It’s very difficult to sort out considering most of the things Benthomaar likes to eat, Lloyd can’t, but the things Lloyd likes to eat, Benthomaar finds it a peculiar taste. It is really that hard when one eats things fresh from the hunt, while one eats things already cooked for taste. If it weren’t for Zane and his recipe books, they’d be stuck on debating what to have for dinner.

Lloyd and Benthomaar aren’t the greatest cooks, it’s fortunate that Lloyd learned from watching his siblings. They try to learn how to figure things out together like they always do, even if there’s a lot of trials and errors — Lloyd’s just glad that Benthomaar is a patient person. Lloyd was the one that taught Benthomaar how things work in the kitchen as best as he can (he’ll leave the rest to Zane). The kitchen is, actually, one of the places where they end up laughing and talking together the most.

They’re kind of in a long distance relationship? It’s hard for them to meet up and spend awhile together due to their duties as leaders, with Lloyd spending most of his time in the Monastery or accepting commisions to help the citizens, and Benthomaar being the King trying to reestablish Merlopia after his brother’s short lived — yet destructive rule. They promise to meet whenever they can by the sea shore, which is an equal distance far away from their own homes, it’s a very difficult promise to make but of course they’ll have the time for each other.

Lloyd once surprised Benthomaar by visiting Merlopia during his week off duties. Benthomoaar had no idea about what was going on until he recieved news that a surface dweller’s ship sailed all the way to their nation, he was just about to panic because they were informed nothing but then, he sees such a familiar looking blond adorned in colorful shades of oranges, reds, and greens, and that’s Lloyd. He was trying so badly to try and not look so excited but he was, very, very, very excited.

“My friend,” so he said in a calm collected tone. “I am so happy to see you again.”

Lloyd thought his voice sounded absurd, maybe Benthomaar didn’t notice that his wagging tail betrayed his composure. But he didn’t need an affirmation because only seconds later, he was being squeezed to death, Benthomaar’s hugs can just do that, he guessed. He missed him so much.

Likewise, if it were Benthomaar that surprised Lloyd… Lloyd would be unsure how to approach Benthomaar, so he’d stand there contemplating his disbelief and his choices before giving him a hug, except it’s a very awkward yet happy hug.

When I said “In-Law points” a few headcanons back, there’s this silly concept I thought of that Benthomaar would be put on trial for the Ninja to know if he’s truly “Significant Other Candidate for Lloyd” enough, because they absolutely do not want a repeat of last time. Benthomaar doesn’t know about the trial, however, only the Ninja do — Lloyd caught on eventually after he noticed they were acting weird around Benthomaar. It’s only funny because they started doing that even before Lloyd and Benthomaar were in a relationship, Lloyd was incredibly embarassed. They’d ask Benthomaar random questions out of nowhere with peculiar scenarios, or ask him to do certain chores just so they’ll know if he’s worth it. He was sent to a war he didn’t know he was in.

Lloyd and Benthomaar are like Dragon and Phoenix :3 The dragon represents strength, power, and good luck, while the phoenix represents high virtue, grace, power, and prosperity. When paired together they’re yin (phoenix) and yang (dragon)

ive been enabled so im making a new post for it <3 n e ways welcome to my list of what characters the straw hats would play in guilty gear strive

luffy - sin kiske/may

ok first of all im entirely biased but luffy would fucking LOVE sin, like the bit of him eating to get buffs would DEEPLY entertain luffy (although he'd use it entirely way too much and get blown up for it)

but for both characters, i think he'd be a big fan of doing like one hit and a simple combo and absolutely DESTROYING someone's health bar, which fits for both of these. he wouldn't be very GOOD at the game because he wouldn't be able to sit still and wait for openings or anything of the sort but boy would he be great at corner pressure (until he gets dp'd)

zoro - nagoriyuki

i swear to you im not just giving the sword guy the sword guy (although that's certainly a factor because i bet you that'd influence zoro's character decision) but like. zoro is also the type to want to do one combo that does a ton of damage

i think he'd be moderately better than luffy and defense and neutral though, being able to open people up with pokes (cough cough beyblade cough cough), but he'd CONSTANTLY spend too much blood, although he plays surprisingly well inside of blood rage

nami - asuka r#

nami is the type to want to stand on one side of the screen with her opponent on the other side of the screen and just shoot so many fucking cubes at them honestly. plus i think she'd be really great at keeping track of spells and resources while she plays

however if u can get in on her? it's over, she has negative defense and constantly flails and mashes her way to death, but otherwise she's a pretty solid player. also, im a wizard's whimsy believer regarding nami so. asuka!

usopp - happy chaos/axl low

usopp is ALSO a zoner main but like. to the fucking extreme. hes GOING to guard crush loop you from across the entire screen hes GOING to rensen your ass for a whole round hes GOING to be sent through the fucking wall if you close in on him

sanji - giovanna

ok so i actually think this is a cool decision because like. we see gio use her hands in like...2? 3? of her moves? like its 5p 2p and 6p and thats about it. and its GIVING SANJI!!!!

i do think that sanji would have fun playing a rushdown character but also he'd get so good at playing defense bc he doesnt want to let gio get harmed

chopper - jack-o' valentine

CHOPPER WOULD HAVE A FUCKING BLAST PLAYING JACK-O'!!!!! i dont think hed be good at strive by a long stretch but hed LOVEEEE controlling the goobers and all the silly animations hed be having the time of his life

the ASSUMPTION might be faust but i think chopper finds him too creepy to enjoy playing him regularly

robin - anji

robin is a fucking MASTER in neutral i am convinced of this, specifically that she can just. get her opponent to do what she wants. so easily. and then she uses spin and kills them! as is her right!!!

this one is more vibes than anything but i do think she'd enjoy spin and counter as moves to just fuck with her opponent in a major way, plus anji just being a graceful motherfucker

franky - potemkin/goldlewis dickinson

franky doesnt want to play your silly little game. he doesnt want to hold your mix, he doesnt want to set up oki, he doesnt want to play neutral, he wants to KILL YOU AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE

this isnt how he approaches things in life but i think theres something about strive that would just make him want to do the biggest damage possible with the least amount of hits and he'd want to land every fucking pot buster and behemoth typhoon to ever exist. unfortunately this means he wouldnt entirely be engaging with the strategy side of the game and would frequently be blown up but if he can get one grab on you hes happy.

brook - i-no

look. ok. the music connection is awesome and i think brook would enjoy mixing you into oblivion but. i have never met an i-no player who doesnt play her at least in part because she's hot. and thats absofuckinglutely how brook would choose who he plays LMAO

like its JUST the nature of the world. but in terms of gameplay yeah i think he'd like flitting around the screen with her hoverdash and divekicks and he'd have so much fun with her pressure and mix

jinbe - sol badguy

ok for legal reasons i have to specify that like i have met jinbe and know him im thr series but not super well so take my opinions with a grain of salt. but anyways i think jinbe would have a lot of fun with sol, he feels like the type who wouldnt like play strive much on his own but REALLY get into it when playing with other people, and i need him to experience the euphoria of hitting a clean hit hvv or getting a wallbounce combo

i also think he's another fan of doing a shit ton of damage all at once but i think he's willing to do some comboing and some setups to get there, and i think he's get REALLY fucking good at stagger pressure it would be scary

so first of all: PicassoWithAPencil aka @zillaphoneswag god the way she writes amangela is just So Good it makes go insane. the writing is just so intimate and realistic that i can picture the scenes like if it was a movie?? amanda and angela’s characterizations are so so layered and they write the conflict in such a way that it. Really Hits you.

next is halfwheeze aka @tommybowefuneralattendee . man oh man do their spommy shaymien fics change my brain chemistry so bad. such a way with words that i Have to go reread specific parts or paragraphs for just how good the writing is!! the writing is all so soft and loving in a way that makes my chest hurt, like you can actually feel the fondness and admiration the characters have.

and of course who can forget @jovenshires . my fellow spommy/amangela brainrot and niche ship enjoyer. if there’s one thing to really admire about katie’s writing is her absolute skill in worldbuilding. like yea iwks is a Monster and i am in awe of how katie wrote that but even the canon/canon compliant fics have their own worlds and intricacies that all feel so real!! her writing really pulls you into the world and its so good.

1. I have many stuffed animals stuff. I used to sleep with one every single night but the wear and tear of using her as basically a pillow forced her into retirement :( [‘She’ as in a stuffed Build-A-Bear bunny named flower, her fabric has flowers on it (i’m so original I know)]

2. I am ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS take song recs. I can’t and won’t promise i’ll listen to it like immediately (I have some decency to not lie compulsively) (rip into the lantern waste album that @/silvercaptain24 recommended awhile ago I never finished listening :’) ) but i’m a strong believer in how music is a super strong indicator of how you are as a person vibes-wise so I think that sharing music is like sharing your soul but in a way that society deems cool and not weird

Perhaps i’m good at it, and perhaps i’ve gotten a few 100% on a few essays cuts to extreme celebration bc i’ve never gotten 100% on an english essay before this year but I LITERALLY hate english/grammar/reading comprehension/like most thinks in this vein. Should I consider creative writing apart of this medium? Maybe. But also creative writing doesn’t make me THINK ABOUT WHY JOHN ATE A RED DELICIOUS APPLE AND NOT A GOLDEN DELICIOUS APPLE he’s an idiot that’s why. I took german for two years, and the thing I struggled with most was how it all grammatically fit together. I did great on vocab, I have awesome memory retention for that kind of stuff. But grammar/english/whatever the fuck you wanna call this STUPID SUBJECT is the one academic subject that continues to elude and frustrate me to no end. Like, I’m in Calc 1 rn and while it’s hard it’s not *hard* hard? Math is something that clicks, science is something that clicks, art is something that clicks (on an intellectual level, not really a performance level if you get what I mean) BUT ENGLISH JUST SUCKS. Guh

HELL YEAH DIFFERENT LOOKS WITH THE FOREIGN KIDS THAT’S WHY I DRAW PIP WITH HIS BURN SCARS & A TOOTH GAP IT MAKES THEM FEEL MORE REAL

YEAHHHH!!! I DRAW PIP WITH A TOOTH GAP TOO. now, since you mentioned differences once. I shall ramble.

Pip: For differences in teeth, I draw his canine teeth and he has a gap in between his two front teeth. He has never gone to a dentist, not even with the adoptive family I gave him. Small fun fact for you. Idk it’s fun. His differences in appearance: He has small bits of acne under his bangs, he has freckles along his face and body, and I’ve started to consider burns but I keep forgetting, sadly. I forget freckles a lot too, but SHHHH.

Damien: I have many MANY different kinds of teeth styles for him. Some with all sharp teeth, some with proper fangs, but they all involve braces. Because he would just loveeee braces (he hates them), he tries to break the brackets thinking it’ll make them go away faster, but that will only make them stay longer. His dentist hates him so much as he is rude and has tried to bite them. Appearance: His fingertips have faded ashy look, not burnt, they are just.. ash, because of his fire powers. He used to clean them but got too lazy. He doesn’t have any differences other than proper animal features, I like to think he has a goat tail when he gets older and has horns that he hides in his hair but that’s mainly it. Bags under his eyes, though born with it.

Gregory: He has had braces, which if is brought up he will have a full blown fit. He is a mint heavy guy, he has actually forced Christophe to have some of these mints, I will sometimes drawn his canine but that is rarely. Appearance: I don’t draw him with freckles (i forget), but I have mentioned that he has had freckles in roleplays! Only on his face. Gregory has small scars on his hands from past fights and injuries, he is prideful of them because he knows they tell a story without words.

Christophe: I.. love… his differences. I always love to draw his teeth. They are chipped, missing, and stained. I draw his canine as well, I believe they are sharper than average ones. His teeth are chipped from getting injured so often and getting rocks in the face while digging through holes. He has been forcibly made to brush his teeth countless times by his mother and Gregory. He hates the dentist so much that they have to hold him down and hold his mouth open or else he bites and tries to attack. Appearance: I haven’t drawn him with scars yet but he would have many from when he came back from being attacked and killed by the guard dogs. He would also have scars from other injuries, as I HC that everyday is a new injury, big or small. Christophe has a mole by his eye, haha im hilarious.. i added that feature and then remembered he is “The Mole” so. He also has acne from being so unclean, I like to believe that he forgets hygiene exists so he is often greasy and dirty, which causes the acne to show up. Bags under his eyes AND CHAPPED LIPS. HE GOES THROUGH IT.

Pocket: I haven’t discussed him much for appearance yet as at the time of making the teeth guide, I wasn’t much of a Pocket and Estella fan.. now look at me. I love them. He has his buck teeth ofc ofc, how would we ever forget that. I feel like his teeth are straight and pretty alright, and he uses his toothbrush way too hard. He probably brushes his teeth after every big meal and FLOSSES. Like a mad man. I like to think he has one chipped tooth from one random moment and that’s it. Appearance: Freckles dude, we love them. Freckles. He probably has small spots of acne as well, nothing that extreme.

Estella: She would have the straightest whitest teeth, perfect in every way and she would make sure of it. She brushes constantly and makes sure everything is spotless. I draw her canine teeth as well. Estella uses that expensive charcoal tooth paste or whatever that claims is better, but is probably the worst. Appearance: Again, she has no acne, no freckles, no scars. She doesn’t even have a bruise. Estella has a skincare routine, she has no freckles or scars. But has a birthmark on her ankle, but never shows it. She dislikes it as she feels it’s a wound on her perfect skin.

Rebecca: She has a gap between her teeth, which later on she gets braces so her teeth are perfect. She brushes a lot and flosses. I don’t draw her canine teeth all the time. Rebecca would grind her teeth at minute due to stress and worry, which ruins her teeth a great amount. Definitely a dentist’s favourite. Appearance: She has freckles, YES I FORGET I GET IT, on her face and body. She has acne around the sides of her face and on her nose, which she tries her best to hide and get rid of but nothing works. I like to think she also has sensitive skin, having to use special soap. She would have bags under her eyes,

Mark: He had/has braces and wears a retainer later on, not the invisible one. He got braces because of how many gaps he had between his teeth, his parents wanted his teeth to be perfect instead of gappy. He also takes good care of his teeth, similar to his sister. I don’t draw his canine teeth, so sad. Another dentist’s favourite. Appearance: I haven’t thought much on this, he probably has acne on his nose and chin, which he tries to clean and get rid of. He would have chapped lips as he dislikes the feeling of chapstick on his lips and feel bad about it. Mark would have bags under his eyes, like his sister. He has small scaring around his nails from picking at them out of nervousness and habit. He would also have sensitive skin and allergies that makes him have to have special soap.

There wasn’t any Rebecca and Mark on the original sheet because I hadn’t remembered they existed yet sooo.
