Raine and Eda's gem fusion (TOH / Steven Universe crossover)
Tumblr media
Their fusion dance is just the scene in Eda's Requiem where they play their instruments back-to-back, but then they glow and fuse - but continue playing, because now they have 4 arms, Raine's arms on top playing the violin and Eda's arms on the bottom playing the cittern.
Tumblr media
Their combined gem is sphene/titanite - base colour gold (eda) with green (raine) and red (both of them) sparkles. More designs and AU description under the cut:
Separate designs for them (Eda is big and shaped like Garnet because she's a fusion between Eda and the corrupted Owlbeast. Her harpy form is the harmonious fusion that happens after the Owlbeast's corruption is healed):
Tumblr media
Alt design for the fusion, with merged/faceted eyes instead of separate ones - I just love how perfectly Eda's pointy eyes fit under Raine's round ones!
Tumblr media
I imagine their combined personality might be like a rock star, because Eda's brashness and showmanship overpower Raine's stage fright, so they can finally be a star musician together. I love to think about how elated they would be after their first performance!
Tumblr media
Plot (?):
So titans can travel through space, just because they're so magical. Several hundred years ago a titan arrived on earth to hide from the Archivists, carrying with it a lot of refugees from its original planet. The titan died, exhausted by the stress of the trip, but the refugees whom he protected survived and started a new life. They are protected by shielding magic from curious humans. They are a little different from the witches and demons of the boiling isles - they're gem-based lifeforms who form visible bodies around their gems, and they have very long lifespans.
One summer, Luz the human (obsessed with gems and magic) accidentally goes through a portal that Eda has made, ends up on the island and decides to live there instead of summer camp.  She meets Eda, whose gem has become fused with the corrupted gem of the Owlbeast, so sometimes the Owlbeast takes control of their shared body.
Luz becomes best friends with King (King is basically Steven and doesn't know he's actually a titan/diamond), who didn't have any friends before her because nobody has seen his type of gem before so everyone thinks he's weird. (The gem society in Steven Universe is kind of obsessed with roles, ranks and hierarchies, so seeing an unknown gem is unsettling). She basically becomes Connie to King's Steven (non-romantic, lol).
Luz has some adventures learning about the island. She gets to know Willow, who is an "overcooked" jasper and insecure about it just like Amethyst, but v. powerful once Luz helps her overcome the insecurity. And Gus and Amity.
Meanwhile, on the titan’s home planet, Belos (not a human in this AU) has formed a deal with the Archivists to be allowed to rule the planet in a way that the Archivists approve of in exchange for trying to find the escaped titan. And now they have found earth somehow. Raine, who leads an underground rebellion against Belos, manages to be the one sent to earth. Unfortunately for them, Belos sends Hunter (Belos’s pearl - Hunter has big pearl energy, right?) along with them.
Tumblr media
Once they arrive on earth Raine keeps trying to secretly sabotage Hunter’s attempts to find the island so they can find it first themselves and warn everyone.Don't know how that goes, but eventually they find Eda - maybe even in the human world and not on the island? So they finally meet again after a long time. Back then she was too afraid to tell them she's a fusion but now she doesn't give a fuck, which leads to them rekindling their relationship!

Man, you know what hit me while watching For the Future, and I didn’t say anything about it at the time but it’s been circulating in my head since then?
Amity saying to Boscha “This is a bit much, even for you!”, in comparison to her father a few episodes back saying “this is too much— even for you.” The similarity in structure, the difference in delivery, you know.
And I keep thinking about the theory that Alador and Odalia were pushed to marry by their parents, and about how Amity was pushed to be friends with Boscha, and imagining a bad future where Luz didn’t show up and they ended up in a similar position.
It’s not going to be that bad, right? Sure, Amity never really *liked* Boscha, but you don’t have to like someone to be their friend, you just have to be around them, do things with them, listen when they talk. Having a wife will be like that, right? She’ll just… do the things she’s supposed to do, and live alongside her. It’ll be fine.
The wedding is just another formal event her parents throw, with the complication of Boscha’s parents being part of it too, and constantly trying to one-up hers. In her final act of rebellion, Amity sends Willow an invitation. She doesn’t come. Amity closes a door.
Odalia lightens up on urging Amity to join the Emperor’s Coven when she realizes that as the only one of their kids who follows in Alador’s footsteps magic-wise, it’d be better for her to train to take over the factory someday. She can’t say she exactly enjoys working under her father, since he only ever talks about work, and not even with the spark of interest in his eyes she remembers him having when she was little. Her mother spends most of her time sniping at her mothers-in-law and asking when grandkids are coming, though, and the twins are gadding about through high society and making fun of her whenever they can, so he’s kind of the family member she’s closest to by default.
Things don’t really go well. Boscha thinks the way their mothers constantly fight is hilarious, and she definitely enjoys the status that comes along with the Blight name, but she definitely doesn’t love the way her new in-laws expect her to wind potions skills into the family business or else just stay out of the way. She wants to win trophies, not be one. She’s also not stupid, and she knows Amity doesn’t love her— knew since long before the wedding, but she hoped that would change over time, and as it continues not to she’s building up an intense resentment. They were meant for each other, why can’t Amity see it? She’s being the queen of Bonesborough society, they’re on top together just like it was in high school only better, but Amity still doesn’t love her, and it’s not fair.
Some years on, they have a daughter. She’s the absolute light of Amity’s life, but by the time she’s toddling Boscha is already starting to take out some of her resentment on her. She pushes her too hard, she makes fun of the way she garbles words. The baby’s  just being a baby, and Amity tries to get Boscha to lighten up, but Boscha says she’s just having fun and being a mom, which Amity isn’t because she’s working all day, and she doesn’t have a comeback for that.
Amity’s trying to calm Boscha down, taking her to matches when she has a rare night off and they can get a sitter, but it just prickles at her more— she wants to be on the field, not watching; she wants to be on a real date with her wife, not an awkward attempt at appeasement.
It’s all eating away at Amity. She looks into her daughter’s three beautiful gold eyes and she’s terrified her little girl will feel like this, someday.
She’s sleepwalking through her days, she feels like one of her mother’s ghosts. She’s working, because it’s the only thing she really understands anymore. She’s elbow-deep in the beta design for the 3.6, and she nearly jumps out of her skin when her father puts a hand on her shoulder.
He has a bottle of hard apple blood. They go sit on the roof, and they talk.
She can’t say she sees a way through to happiness, but at least she’s not alone. That’s something, isn’t it?

Hexside was Necessary for S3
         Since it apparently needs repeating;
Yes, Hexside actually makes sense and DOES have a purpose in For the Future, within the larger, limited run time of S3, and the show as a whole. For starters, Labyrinth Runners ended with Hunter telling the students about the Day of Unity, so we actually get to see there be payoff from this setup, as knowing ahead of time about the draining spell allowed Hexside to become, unwittingly, a safe haven against the Collector’s spies.
This is important for our protagonists, because they need the memory tweezers to access Luz’s memories, to glimpse Philip’s teleportation glyph combo that will take them to the skull, enabling them to bypass the Collector’s spies and an entire trek up the skull. The tweezers are at Hexside, so a detour there is necessary.
From a thematic standpoint, I’ve already discussed how the situation with the kids lacking supervision and causing chaos is meant to parallel the Collector’s reign over the isles, and emphasize the idea that kids need good adults they can actually rely on for structure and guidance. Continuing off of that thread, Boscha is actually a parallel to the Collector in this way, and these similarities help us characterize the kid when he isn’t on-screen; For the Future gives us a lot of insight into another side of the Collector we haven’t gotten to see up until this point.
Hexside is also necessary for Luz and Willow’s arcs in this episode, as it provides an opportunity for adversity. Because of their struggles against Kikimora and Boscha, this causes them to reach a frustrated lowest point, which opens up Camila and Hunter to reach through to their loved ones and help them come to terms with their vulnerability by accepting their mistakes.
And speaking of Willow, Hexside also has her briefly reunite with Viney, who unwittingly adds to her pressure by mentioning how the kids really need her leadership. Likewise, I suspect that seeing a bunch of kids that are Luz’s age is enlightening for Camila, who is essentially being given a tour of the Boiling Isles, the place her daughter chose; She sees how there are many peers who recognize and like Luz here, an important reminder amidst Camila’s apprehension towards the isles’ more visceral aspects. Amity gets to reunite with her siblings, and helps by getting through to Boscha.
Hexside is also a good opportunity for Belos; With the kids distracted, this gives Belos ample time to be alone with his thoughts… And thus, we get our entire sequence with the ghosts and his failed possession of the Grimwalkers; This couldn’t have happened if Belos was too busy, in his weakened state, trying to fend off the kids. He only held up hours earlier because he was using Hunter as a human shield, but without Hunter nor the integrity that a host provides, I’m not sure if Belos could’ve survived a battle with the kids in that condition.
So we get a real nice moment where we can see how Belos operates on his own, without anyone around to manipulate nor impress; We get an illuminating look at his psyche, that otherwise wouldn’t be possible if the kids were there to distract Belos from his thoughts. And if the protagonists can’t be with Belos, they may as well be somewhere, hence Hexside. And because they’re preoccupied with Kikimora, this also gives Belos a much-needed headstart.
Thanks to his knowledge of a hidden passageway in the skull that he created, Belos is able to access the Archives while the protagonists need the teleportation glyph; And by reaching the Collector before everyone, this enables Belos to possess Raine, and thus manipulate the Collector. This allows the conflict to persist, as the Collector’s progress with King is being messed with, and thus the resolution with them isn’t as cut and dry as it otherwise might be; Without Belos’ lies, the Collector could’ve been talked down much sooner.
This is a parallel to Kikimora emotionally isolating Boscha to control her, which made that conflict more difficult. This is for the sake of Luz and Willow, Camila and Hunter, and again the themes of kids needing adults they can trust, and the juxtaposition of those whom kids can’t rely on, which brings out the worst in children, like we see in Terra and Odalia. This again helps to characterize and set up the Collector’s arc when they otherwise can’t be on-screen and we need to follow our main protagonists.
In particular, it contrasts with Camila as a motherly figure, and how she really comes through for Luz this episode, as do Eda and Lilith as King’s only other companions for two months. Luz and Camila are able to fully rekindle their relationship this episode, as their conflict with one another is framed as THE inciting incident of the series, from the perspective of the audience watching the series premiere.
And because of Hexside, we have the Collector’s interactions with Belos, which inspire him in the next episode to possess the Titan’s heart, which leads to that whole big sequence… Not to mention, Belos goading the Collector to attack the protagonists leads to Luz’s nightmare sequence that she manages to overcome as another capstone to her arc, etc. etc.

i just want Amity and Willow and Gus to get fed up with Luz for once.
Luz, Amity’s GIRLFRIEND, didn’t tell her about how she accidentally helped Belos and… Amity just forgives her on the spot???
Despite the fact that she had months to tell her..?
A rant about Luz’s dishonesty to everyone, specially Amity, below.
Same here. Throughout the show, Luz kept secrets and hid away from her friends even though they tried to help her. I never got why they could put up with her. Luz has a habit of getting so easily forgiven every time she does something wrong with barely any consequences. Her girlfriend has continuously assured her that she will still care about and love her unconditionally because she wants to be helpful but Luz doesn’t accept it. Luz has lied to Amity over and over, time after time, yet still gets forgiven in the end.
When Luz was on edge with the events of Yesterday’s Lie, she refused to tell her friends, especially Amity, about it and tried to lie her way out of it until Amity called her out. Amity assured her that she just wanted to help and be someone Luz could talk to and not hide from, someone she could be honest with.
Amity wanted Luz to be honest with her, yet she lied again in Reaching Out. She was acting rash and uneasy due to it being the anniversary of her dad’s death, which is completely valid, but she still thought it would be a good idea to lie about setting off an alarm to alert Amity’s abusive parents to her location? Yes, she didn’t want to ruin her girlfriend’s special day which is why she lied, but she didn’t have to lie about something as big as that. She didn’t know at the time that Alador wanted to be a better father, she just thought he was the same as Odalia.
When Luz helped Phillip, she had an overwhelming feeling that everything took place because of her. Months passed by (likely 2-3) and she was still scared of telling her friends about it, specifically Amity. Hunter knew about it and he assured her that they would be fine with it since it wasn’t her fault due to it being unintentional, but she still hid it from everyone. When Luz was revealed for helping Phillip, she tried to change the subject to Hunter being a grimwalker. Great friendship, out your friend who had an even bigger secret than you to everyone. Luz lied to Amity again with that major secret but Amity still managed to tolerate her and kindly tell her to quit lying.
Even after Luz PROMISED to never lie to Amity again, she still lied again. She still decided that she would leave the Isles since she thought everything was her fault even though she was assured otherwise. She still wanted to leave the Isles and Amity. Everyone assured Luz it was okay but she didn’t listen.
With her other friends, they should’ve gotten fed up with Luz’s lying as well. She had plenty of time to tell everyone about helping Phillip but she didn’t do it until the very last moment. Luz left Camila for the demon realm during the summer (not thinking about if she would possibly get trapped there) and was so lucky that her mother didn’t yell at her for it and forgave her. Luz was supposed to keep Hunter’s secret as a grimwalker and said he should tell them when he was ready, yet blurted out his secret in TTT to try to divert attention from herself. She didn’t get into an argument with Hunter for outing him when he wasn’t ready, her widowed and stressed mom for leaving and making her have self-doubt in her parental abilities, her girlfriend for continuously lying, and her friends for being dishonest about a big issue. Her loved ones just instantly forgave her and put up with her. Amity and Camila were already insecure about being a part of Luz’s life yet she still lied to them about major issues.
TLDR
Luz Noceda had continuously lied to her friends, specifically her girlfriend, throughout the show and easily got forgiven for it. She barely suffered consequences for her actions and everyone put up with her. Her friends assured her various times that they care about her but she still was dishonest and even OUTED someone who had a bigger secret than her. Luz’s friends should have gotten tired of her constant lying but they never did.

The Owl House Finale Rewrite Part 2
I love many things about The Owl House, from its animation, characters, world, music, and themes. However, I feel the finale, good as it was, was far from perfect, and there are many glaring issues, from character retcons, to unexplored lore, lack of nuance, and several other issues. I am by no means an expert writer, and I have nothing but respect for Dana and her team. I give them the benefit of the doubt because we all know corporate disney has given them much trouble in making this show. So here is how I would rewrite the finale. Keep in mind some of the stuff I mention may not be feasible to include even if the writers wanted to put them into the story.
The special starts out with Luz, Eda, King, the Hexsquad, Camila, and the Collector watching as Belos possesses the Titan, and they narrowly escape the now deserted archives as Belos destroys it with his new body. The Collector explains via a flashback that he told Belos titan hearts can continue to beat long after they die (I find it hard to believe only Belos knew what the Titan's heart and the rest of the isles didn't) and that Titans are technically stronger than Collectors, even being immune to the star species. Belos wanted to use the Draining spell as his first plan because he believed possessing the Titan wouldn't be as effective (In this rewrite, I headcanon that the Draining Spell would have concentrated all magic and used it to destory the demon realm planet, as in canon, Belos' plan was just to kill everyone with sigils) and he made the Titan plan his plan B.
Having gotten to the heart during the previous special, Belos managed to possess the titan. The Collector attempts to try and get through to Belos using kindness and forgiveness like in canon, and like in canon, Belos takes advantage of this to try and destroy the Collector. Luz and King both fly up to intercept the shot and are knocked to the ground, both presumed dead and covered in the ever growing Belos-fungus. Luz and King's friends and family angrily try to stop Belos, but to no avail.
Meanwhile, Luz and King's souls end up in the In-Between realm, where they meet Papa Titan. The Titan explains while they are dead, their souls have not yet submerged in the In-Between liquid, and thus, have not fully passed on, giving them a chance to heal their bodies and return their souls to them.
When Papa T imprisoned the Collector, the force of the spell burned his body away, killing him, though his heart managed to remain intact, and is still beating, thus, making him technically still alive. He is now tethered between life and death, and his soul, like all souls, has passed to the In-Between, a type of realm that acts as the glue for other realms, like the frosting on a cake. Papa T has been able to use the strange boxes to watch over King. He explains the cubes are the Collector's magic. When he trapped the Collector, he used the speaking tablets the Collector gave him as a catalyst, and when the Collector got imprisoned, some of the magic inside the tablets leaked into the In-Between and formed the cubes. Frustratingly, Luz, King, and Papa T aren't 'alive' enough to use the cubes to speak to people, only watch.
After hearing how the Titan took his anger out on the Collector, she nervously asks if they are as bad as Belos. The Titan, decides he can't sugarcoat the harsh truth and asks Luz rhetorically if Amity's decision to bully Willow was justified because she was protecting her, or that Lilith shouldn't face consequences for ruining Eda's life just because she didn't think things would get so bad, or that Hunter should receive death like Belos because he thought he was doing the right thing.
Papa T explains that while Belos' desire to save humanity from witches comes from a genuine place (This is one of my biggest gripes with the finale. The show went out of it's way to hint that Belos and Caleb might have had a complex and interesting story, only to never answer any of the questions fully outside of vague, second hand tales, and reduce Belos to a hate sink. Belos needs to be stopped but acknowledging the nuance and complexity of a character is not the same as excusing their actions), his belief that he is doing good means his actions are justified. Belos is an extremist, and anyone can become like him if they believe their goals are noble enough to excuse their actions.
This strikes a chord with Luz, who has been conflicted with guilt over leaving her mother, as well as her other past actions. King's soul then starts to glow, and Papa T explains Belos inadvertently sealed his fate. Baby titans like King have a special adaption where when they are on the verge of death, or get extremely hurt, their bodies activate a special Titan adrenaline rush, that makes them grow and able to use magic for a short time. King embraces his dad and his soul leaves the inbetween as it returns to his body. King can use his temporary powers to heal Luz so she can lead the fight against Belos, and destory the heart, ending Belos' possession of the Titan.
Luz is worried that she will never be able to stop Belos because she doesn't have any innate magical abilites. The Titan assures her she never needed any innate abilities. The Titan then reveals because he is dead, he never had any control over the glyphs, and thus, couldn't reveal them to her. He certainly never would have let Belos find them. Luz and Belos found them all on their own, but Luz found them faster because Belos never took the time to look for them, and actively feared the magic of the Isles (My headcanon is that Belos etched Glyphs onto his body as a reminder to himself that the glyphs were unholy magic, and only brought suffering to mankind). Luz's confidence is brought up, and her soul is brought back to her body as it is healed by King.
Back on the isles, King reawakens in a burst of energy, and heals Luz, before growing to massive size as he begins to wrestle the massive form of Belos. Luz informs her shocked and very relieved family and friends that King won't be able to restrain Belos forever, and explains they need to destroy the heart.
While Luz and her allies fly to the heart, the Collector, humbled by his inability to heal Luz and King, as well as his lesson on empathy and ethics, is unable to use his magic to fight Titan Belos, so he goes around the isles to protect the freed citizens. With Belos distracted wrestling King, the citizens of the isles rally and begin fighting the infection of Belos-fungus (This could be a nice scene for all the minor background and fan favorite characters like the Blight Twins, Viney, Skara, etc. to do something). This keeps Belos even more distracted as Luz and her friends make their way to the heart.
At the heart, Luz's allies help her distract Belos and she manages to slap a light glyph on the heart, destroying it, and all the remaining Belos fungus. The castle collapses around them, but everyone is saved by Hooty, who coils around everyone, shielding them from the debris. As the last of the Belos fungus is wiped away, King returns to his normal size, and everyone embraces.
But they notice a tiny bit of Belos glop, and corner it, a hissing, furious, Belos tries to possess someone else, but he is trapped. The Collector has a fitting idea for what to do with Belos, and they trap him in the In-Between. (I found Belos' defeat unsatifying, as it unintentionally makes him a martyr by his standards. It also doesn't allow Hunter to get any last moments with his abuser outside of the fight in Thanks to Them, but this feels more karmic to me, as Belos reneged on his deal to free the Collector).
The Collector agrees to stay around, unlike in canon, so he can help fix the damage he caused. He is living with Eda and King, and spends time helping to repair damaged buildings, and he is forming a budding friendship with Hunter and Lilith, too, who are also helping to rebuild the isles.
Luz and Camila also reconcile, and Luz begins to move past her black and white worldview. Camila allows Luz to spend time with her friends and visit the isles, but to take her life on Earth seriously too. The finale ends with the timeskip, as Luz celebrates her Quinceanera with her new friends and family.

Another fic based on the Huntlow Mythology AU created by @turquoisespace35 . This takes place after the group arrives back in the kingdom, as Willow and Amity go to confront the king. If you enjoy my work here, I also repost all of my fics on AO3 as Phoenix_Pheces. I intend to eventually post different content on each page, so please consider checking out that page as well. Any support means so much to me, and inspires me to keep writing.

Bleeding Hearts - Part 1/3
Willow’s braid had been pulled and twisted nearly out of its holding as she continued to try and soothe her nerves. She and Amity had been waiting quite a while for their audience with the king. It was hard to guess how long it had been exactly, but their surroundings were noticeably less lit than when they had taken their seats. Amity, thankfully, had stayed close for their journey. They both knew the guards weren’t escorting them out of concern for their safety. She had left a few moments ago, however, to ensure they would be seen before sunset. The silence in the hall once she had left was deafening.
It took every ounce of willpower Willow had to not spiral into a panic worrying about Hunter. She was confident that Luz and Gus could keep him safe, but she would never feel relieved until he was back in her sight again. More than anything else, she needed him to be safe. Hopefully they wouldn’t have to keep him in hiding much longer.
Soft footsteps echoed through the hall; Amity’s footsteps. She approached and put a comforting hand on Willow’s shoulder.
“Are you ready to see him?” Her question felt heavy in the air between them, weighed down by an unspoken dread they both needed to leave unspoken. Willow took a deep breath that still felt uncertain.
“As ready as I’ll ever be, I suppose.”
Amity offered her arm, and Willow gratefully took it. She wasn’t sure who needed it more. The two were promptly ushered into the king’s throne room before they had the chance to offer any last minute encouragement.
The throne room was much brighter than the long stone hall had been. Not because of any direct sunlight, but because of a looming golden fire pit in the center of the room. Gus had described it to Willow the first time they entered the throne room. The massive bowl which held the flame was relatively plain, but it was held by a golden statue of a man. A man who, morbidly enough, looked as though the weight of it would soon overcome him. It has unnerved Willow before, but now it left her truly shaken. Would that be her fate? Overcome by a massive load even she couldn’t carry?
Her thoughts were interrupted by the sound of marching. Amity pressed her shoulder into Willow’s, and the door on the opposite end of the throne room was thrust open. The King entered accompanied by, according to Amity, twelve guards.
This was not for protection. This was a display of power, and perhaps even a threat. Amity and Willow were escorted to the foot of the king’s throne, and separated to bow deeply at his feet. The gesture made Willow bristle with anger. She could only hope it wouldn’t appear too plainly on her face.
“Rise, my chosen ones.” Willow and Amity did as they were instructed. The king rose to his feet, but did not approach them. He snapped his head to the nearest guard.
“Leave us, all of you. I wish to converse with these two in private. For their own benefit.” Willow nearly scoffed at the idea. The king would love to have witnesses: if he had nothing to hide. The guards promptly left the throne room, but Willow knew they wouldn’t stray far. They would be right back at their stations with as little as a shout from their king. After the last guard closed the doors behind him, the king descended the throne’s stairs until he was just a few feet away from Amity and Willow.
“So, who would care to regale me with the tale of how both of you miraculously survived the most bloodthirsty monster our kingdom has ever known?”
“He is no monster.” Willow had planned to hold her tongue as best she could. Amity was far more diplomatic than she was. However, though Willow knew better, her heart could not be so easily silenced. The king scoffed.
“I assure you, it is nothing but a vile creature. I have half a mind to send you out to sea for speaking out of turn every time we meet. Your fathers have raised a miserable, insolent child.”
Willow clenched her fists and forced a smile.
“They raised me to oppose injustice, Your Majesty. It would be irresponsible of me to stand by while innocent people are being targeted by those in power. I’m surprised you didn’t pick up on that the last time I was here.”
“How dare you!” You will speak-“
“I will speak when I please. You have hurt this kingdom from the moment you assumed the throne. I’ve seen your cruelty firsthand, and it truly knows no mercy. You sent me, and countless others, to die just to protect your reputation. At the hands of an unwilling, traumatized boy. Hunter didn’t deserve this. We didn’t deserve this. If there is any monster plaguing this kingdom, it is you.”
The king was silent. He descended the rest of the stairs and came close enough that Willow could see his face. His expression was difficult to read, but it didn’t look like the anger Willow had expected. The king looked almost fascinated.
“Tell me, child, who is Hunter?”
Willow’s heart dropped. She hadn’t realized her mistake until he asked the question. What had she done?
“I-“
“You named the thing, didn’t you? You care for it.” The king let out a small gasp. “And you wouldn’t have left it behind.”
“No!” Willow lunged forward, but the king easily evaded her, and she crashed into the floor. Pain shot through her arm and ribs.
“Guards! Quickly!”
The guards rushed into the room as Amity dove to help Willow to her feet. The pain in Willow’s side caused her to stumble, and they were quickly surrounded. Amity clung to her.
“If any of you so much as touch her, I will end you,” Amity threatened, brandishing her spear as best she could with one hand. None of the guards moved. They were more concerned with keeping the two of them contained than separating them.
“Assemble everyone else in the main hall!” The king’s voice rang through the throne room, dripping its malice. Willow heard countless footsteps running in all directions. She had no idea what was happening outside the circle of guards, who had now all turned their spears inward. She began to shake as she heard the king shout again.
“Let’s move, we have a beast to kill!”

Here’s how I’d change The Owl House Finale(s)
(Because everyone cares what I think).
Thanks to Them
I actually like this episode for the most part. I think a slight reprieve from the previous season finale makes sense. I would focus more on developing Gus and Willow as characters. This would be a good time for Willow and Amity to truly talk and create a friendship outside of Luz.
King’s dad should start appearing periodically throughout the episode. Not visibly, but in little hints and glimpses to Luz. He’s trying to get them back home because they have the advantage of not being in the collector’s sights. He comes in her dreams, makes nudges to lead her and the squad to the remaining blood. Something along those lines.
We get a visual glimpse of the Wittebane backstory. Maybe Belos reminisces while possessing Hunter, during the hayride, and Hunter sees the flashback, confused and scared. Hell, for the Lunter shippers, when Hunter comes back to reality have the visage of Evelyn fade into Luz. Parallels ✨
I have no clue what to do with Vee. I love her though.
For the Future
This episode sucks.
King’s dad is still communicating with Luz
First, the Hexside detour should be completely removed.
The focus should be entirely on resolving the collector arc. Whether he’s a capricious cosmic entity or the equivalent of a child, end it here. There’s little time to delve into the archivists, so it can be skipped, I guess. We don’t know what the lore is so I can’t comment on if it could be condensed.
Willow, Amity, and Gus can still continue their arcs. Have Willow still crack and these two resolve it, not Hunter. Hunter doesn’t need to be with Luz but he needs focus on his new powers and discovering Caleb and Belos’ history. If there’s a connection between the Clawthorne’s and them, reveal it here, a little. Sprinkle a bit 🤏🏾
Belos is the devil on the collector’s ear. He sends them to fight Luz and Co. We get a battle which is Kikimora’s original + the games from Waking and Dreaming. We can even add Eda, Lilith, and King can go over to help. Regardless, our kids put up a fight and get thrashed.
At this point things seem grim. Depending on the characterization, the collector is gleeful over suffering or having a change of heart once he realizes his “games” are dangerous. Belos reappears, now reinvigorated/moss powered whatever, and kills the collector.
Waking and Dreaming
It can be here or the tail end of FtF, but Luz is killed by Belos trying to defend Hunter. This is not shipping fodder, I just think Belos really hates Caleb and by extension Hunter. There’s a lovely drama in him killing the parallel of his brother’s wife, if he didn’t kill her originally.
Now she’s in titan ville
We get the detailed and full version of the Wittebane story. If the Clawthorne’s are involved, bring it in. The titan wants Luz to know the full story so she can decide if she’s willing to kill Belos. We don’t get a handed down moral, but we see her earnestly think about this.
Meanwhile, Belos might let somethings slip about Hunter and Caleb. Everyone’s justifiably losing their shit and going ham. There’s no way they can beat him so they retreat.
Since the collector’s dead, everyone is freed from being dolls. Maybe bump brings everyone back to hexside and our group meets them there.
Belos is progressing slowly but he’s coming. This is the time for little character interactions like Amity and Boscha, Eda and her parents. Wrap up as much as possible swiftly. No high school politics.
Time doesn’t progress the same in the in between dimension. The titan and Luz talk. We truly close the collector’s arc. He explains what happened or gives a glimpse into their motives. There isn’t enough time to properly resolve it.
Luz talks about King
Eventually she agrees, gets her super awesome monster form.
Hexside peeps prepare for one final showdown. We have the coven heads including Raine, our main squad, the harpy sisters, and King and Hunter with their strange powers.
They fight and Luz returns
Battle, battle, battle. Little character interactions
Belos dies. I have mixed feeling on whether Hunter needs to confront him. So maybe he tells Belos to choke and Eda and Lilith stomp him out. It shouldn’t be played for laughs
The day is saved!…sigils are gone
Extended epilogue. Amity and Luz talk about things. Willow isn’t a sports player…wtf was that about?
Gus gets to travel the human realm or something besides being the same human club person.
If Hunter is carving palismen, can we learn why?
Eda being a teacher…is debatable at best. Raeda wedding though 😎
We see Luz finish out high school in the human realm while visiting the isles. There’s still the quinceañera.
I clearly didn’t hit every single detail of each episode. There are sections that are fine or not worth the effort to edit. I’m not a hardcore fan of any of the ships. I do like Lunter but I’m not going back to rewrite the whole show. My efforts are more focused on developing Amity as a character so the relationship feels more real. I do love my girls. Huntlow is not my thing. It feels hollow and a waste of Willow’s time.
These are my ideas for the finale episodes only. Some of these would be better if they started in earlier seasons but, like I said, I’m not here to rewrite the show. I hope it’s clear that my criticism come from a place of loving the show. Critical tags kind of annoy me because it seems to imply that this wouldn’t belong in the main tags. Opinions that aren’t attacking people should be able to stay in the main tags.

TOH SEASON 3 EPISODE 2 REACTION PART 2!!!!!!
I have 17 minutes left, so this may be a shorter ish post, who knows, WE SHALL CONTINUE THOUGH!
Woah, Grudgby team captain girl! NOT COOL, WILLOW IS INNOCENT
And Camila is so me right now, she understands, THEY ARE JUST CHILDREN, WHY MUST THEY SUFFER
AND DAMN IT! I did think Miki reminded me or Kikimora, especially the name DAMN YOU WERE GOOD LAST TIME WE SAW YOU! WHAT ARE YOU DOING BRO
Belos pal, what was your plan, we have established the Collector is immortal and basically all knowing, what tf did you think was going to happen......... THAT'S YOUR PLAN?! Worn the collector that he is in danger? GOD BELOS, even I could have come up with a better plan than "I am created by the power of friendship! And you are in danger!"
"What's the little red kitten trying to do?" LOVE you Camila, iconic, and you didn't even intend to
Kikimora, I'm with Luz, Belos has already been here and done this, don't be a copycat, be original bro
WOAHHH WELL DONE CAMILA! YOU DID SO WELL AT THE MAGIC GLYPH STUFF! I am not kidding, this whole fight scene just makes me love Camila more, PLEASE tell me as a fandom, you all adore her?
....Boscha. Okay, say what you want about Boscha but she has her priorities, she cares about 1 thing and 1 thing only, grudgby. Oh and maybe power. Well, that is probably combined.
Amity just going "nah" is HILARIOUS, absolutely, know your worth queen! Who would have though Boscha would be clingy? ........Oh Boscha definitely has abandonment and attachment issues, That makes so much sense! Damn. You know what, i don't forgive you, but I get you Boscha
"I wish you were here Flapjack" DON'T YOU WORRY HUNTER, ME TOO, BUT HE WILL COME BACK.. he will, he will.
Willow... my sweet child, this is called a breakdown. GOD you are hurting my soul, mostly because this feels like a mirror I'm like "IS THIS HOW I LOOK IN THESE MOMENTS?!"
.....Yeahhh, well. King buddy, that was the wrong thing to say at the wrong time. Is it just me who feels a bit bad for the Collector? Like, he is definitely doing the wrong stuff, absolutely, and needs to be stopped... but they are just a kid! He is doing what any kid with power would do. And yeahhh he should still be stopped. but god damn, I do feel for the kiddo.
"The Collector is just a little kid. A scary powerful one, but also a sad and alone. " THAT'S WHAT I'M SAYING. God someone adopt this little kiddo, give him a home, and love...and make sure he doesn't do this again.
"Mom, are you a secret nerd?" AFTER THAT EMOTIONAL WRECK OF A CONVERSATION! But also YES OF COURSE SHE IS. She is your mother after all, you are all just nerds, and THAT IS WONDERFUL
AHHHHHHH PALISMAN HATCH! Okay, I have paused it, because "All I wanted, was to be understood" BROKE ME. AND, I want to guess what the Palisman will be. Hmm. A giraffe would be funny. OOOOOO A SNAKE WOULD BE GREAT! After all the snake talk and memories. And they are often misunderstood and seen as scary when they are just little guys. AND I have always wanted a snake sorta staff thing. MY FINAL GUESS IS SNAKE. God I hope it is after all this AND SNAKES LAY EGGS, I am a fucking genius
ITS MAKING ME WAIT?! Unless it was just that orb. FUCK I HAVE TO WAIT.
However WILLOW PLEASE, DO THE BREATHING THING. Hunter for god sake save your future girlfriend (/lh)
AHHHHHHHHHHHH HE DID!!!!!!! GOD DAMN IT. I will go insane over this. THEY ARE SO CUTE
"You have magic!" "....The magic of friendship?" "No. The magic of Flapjack!" okay so that was funny BUT I STILL BELIEVE FLAPJACK CAN COME BACK (denial is a fun stage)
"I MISSED A LOT!" Stan Luz, she is just annoyed she missed out on all her friends getting powerups
IS HER PALISMAN AN ORB OR WHAT!?! I AM SO LOST WE HAVE TO WAIT LONGER!? Damn it.
Camila, Gus and Hunter being nerds together and making references to each other is fucking hilarious, what a strange team
GUS DON'T STEAL MY GUESS
.........A SNAKE SHIFTER?! Okay THAT WAS AS CLOSE AS I WAS GOING TO GUESS BUT WOOOOOOOOO That is actually so cool tf
"STRINGBEAN"?! God I want one
CAMILA ! She is so me, I too would just go "AWW LOOK AT ALL YOU CUTIES!"
Hunter literally teared up at "you mean a lot to me too" (he is so me its unreal) AND THE BLUSHING AGAIN, GOD WHEN DO YALL GET TOGETHER AHHHHHHH THE HOLDING HANDS PINKIES FUCK, why am I so invested in these
belos you god damn snitch
AND THAT IS THE END OF THAT EPISODE

Q-X-Y for the ask game please <3
Thanks for the ask!!
Q - A ship you’ve abandoned and why - Hunter/Luz. I shipped them when they first appeared together because they just seemed cute together. Since then I've stopped and how ship Hunter/Willow (yes, I also ship Luz/Amity. That was always my main Owl House ship for Luz). I stopped because I see Hunter and Luz as a more brother sister relationship now, especially with how the characters have developed both with each other and Willow and Amity.
X - top 5-10 characters who are yoUR PRECIOUS BABIES AND YOU WILL DIE DEFENDING THEM - Azula. She was a fourteen year old girl trying to get her father to love her! She doesn't deserve to just be thrown in an asylum and forgotten about. Catra. Similar reasons. She was a victim of abuse who learned (and continues to learn) how to do better. Lois. Apparently I need to defend Lois from MAWS now after the last episode. Clearly it's a big point for this version that she doesn't like to be lied to so of course she gets mad when she finds out Clark is lying. Is jumping off a roof a little far? Yes, but I see where she why she did it. Lin. That woman did nothing wrong in the entire show and yet people take Suyin's side in their argument. if Suyin's cut had been a little lower it would have killed her and, on top of that, she never even apologized for it! Finally, Adam. In every version (maybe minus the CGI one) this poor kid is just given powers and told "you have to defend your home and can never tell anyone your secret" then has to live with being called a coward by his father and best friend/love interest.
Y - What are your secondhand fandoms (fandoms you aren’t in personally but are tangentially familiar with because your friends/people on your dash are in them) - Percy Jackson from friends irl and Stranger things from my dash.

Writing Notes! Boscha is Extremely Petty.
When writing both Boscha present and flashbacks, I wondered for a bit if I was going too hard on her, but she's pretty terrible in canon.
Thinking about the episode where she begins her day by looking in the mirror and saying,
"You are talented. You are a star. You may be hated, so long as you are feared. Most important of all, you are a winner."
A lot of the themes I love in TOH is how showing/having kindness can change hearts ... but there are limits *cough*Belos*cough*.
Boscha hadn't seemed to learn from any of her actions even after she lost Amity (and presumably Skara? I wish we got to see more Skara redemption.)
More below and a POSSIBLE track for the next chapter.
Lemme know if you want any writing notes for the current short side story.
Tumblr media
In flashbacks, Hunter ends up winning over a few of his classmates without really trying. Rather he wins them over just by being his regular weirdo self. He's smart, and genuinely happy to (info-dump) talk about all the stuff he is passionate about, especially wild magic, and Flier Derby.
He's also a loyal friend, which endears him to some of his classmates. Unfortunately, his general trauma, mixed with the trauma caused by the constant gaze of the tabloids and the paparazzo drive him further inward, and continue to trigger him in addition to his actual triggers.
Boscha craves power and notoriety. She thrives on fear and is happy to stomp on whomever she considers "weak". While Hunter is NOT actually weak, Boscha sees him as a target for a bunch of reasons. First, Amity willingly chooses to sit with him in potions class, a stark reminder that Amity chose Luz over Boscha herself.
Because Hunter is eager to mix wild magic, something he knows a great deal about into his classwork, he is surpassing her in potions class, which should be Boscha's sweet spot. As Professor Elixiria mentioned in the last flashback, Boscha is very good, but she lacks finesse. She is thinking backward, which Hunter (and Luz) are thinking forward and it is attracting the attention of those Boscha had once held power over.
Then there is Hunter's relationship to Willow both as a boyfriend, and a Teammate on the Emerald Entrails (something that helped her gain confidence and respect.) As well the fact that Skara seems to have left Boscha for this crowd as well.
Then there is the grimwalker stigma.
Technically, Hunter could beat her in combat. Boscha realizes this. But she knows that he wants to put violence behind him, and she's chosen to exploit the things that trigger him as a way to get to punish those who love him. Mainly those Boscha sees as traitors and weaker classmates who are now better liked than she is -- without using fear as a driver.
In the present, when we meet Boscha, she has lost her status as a pro grudgeby player and has taken a tabloid job to professionally bully people. So what better target than those she blames for the downfall of her social status who are living their best lives.
In both present and future, the image of the Golden Guard is deeply upsetting to Hunter, because it represents a lie that was meant to kill him and remind him of a time that he caused harm and didn’t like who he was.

The Confession: A Huntlow One- Shot
An entirely self- indulgent one- shot taking place right after the events of 'For the Future'. Ao3 linked below, one- shot below the cut.
As Willow’s hand grasped his tighter, Hunter felt his heart sing.
His Captain— the Captain— was holding his hand, and he had no idea what to do. Sure, he had caught and held her earlier, and they had been much closer when he’d teleported them out of the detention pit, but somehow this felt more… intimate. This wasn’t out of necessity, she was choosing to hold his hand.
Hunter didn’t know much about how love or feelings worked, but he had seen Luz and Amity hold hands in this way, and he couldn’t help but wonder.
Could Willow… like him too?
He had liked the Captain since he had met her, but it hadn’t been until he’d seen Luz and Amity together and his cheeks started blushing against his will that he realized he liked her.
He never could have imagined Willow liked him too, especially after finding out what he was.
“Hey,” said Willow with a nudge, “Look at Stringbean and Clover. It looks like they’re getting along great.”
Hunter smiled bittersweetly.
“Yeah. It is.”
Willow squeezed his hand in understanding and leaned in closer. Almost as if his presence was a comfort.
“I really wish Flapjack could be here to meet Stringbean,” Willow stated sympathetically, “I mean… we all do.”
“Thank you, Captain. That means a lot.”
Willow giggled, “Why do you still call me that?”
“What? Captain?” Oh, I don’t know. I guess cause that’s how I met you.”
“Yeah, but we’re friends now.”
“Y— yeah,” Hunter stuttered, “Friends.”
If Willow noticed his nervousness, she didn’t acknowledge it.
“And I never really got to say it,” Willow continued, “but I’m really sorry. That’s what I was trying to say with the photo, and then I thought I’d made things worse, but then you said I hadn’t. But I am, Hunter. What Belos did to you was unforgivable. You’ve been through so much, I can’t even imagine. And then I thought you were gone and weren’t coming back and—“
Willow’s eyes got teary, and instinctively Hunter grabbed her other hand.
“‘All I’ve ever wanted is to be brave and strong to protect my friends. I thought that meant holding in my emotions, but I was wrong. Our emotions— our hearts— make us strong.”
“I’ll be honest, I don’t even know if I have a heart,” Hunter joked, “Or if I do, what it’s made of. That’s, umm, some Grimmwalker humor right there. But you’re right.”
Willow laughed, “I may not know--or care-- what it’s made out of, but you definitely have a heart, Hunter. You’re a person and have one of the biggest hearts I know. If it weren’t for you, I would have never made it out of the detention pit. Or fallen to my death.”
Hunter gulped, the whole reality of how close they were sinking in, standing there hand in hand.
“That’s because of Flapjack,” Hunter noted, “And I only realized I could teleport because of what you said. I got so upset hearing you call yourself that, and I knew I had to do something, and it just kind of…. happened.”
Willow let go of one of his hands and wiped away a tear, her gaze not leaving Hunter’s own.
“When we met, you mentioned being considered half- a- witch as well,” she noted, “I think that’s been I knew we’d be good friends. That you’d understand.”
“And then I ruined it by locking you guys up,” Hunter grumbled.
“Hey,” Willow grasped his other hand again, “don’t beat yourself up over that. The Emperor’s Coven brainwashed you. And you ended up helping us. Why else would we still want you on our team?”
Hunter smiled, “Yeah… if we ever get to play again.”
He said it lightheartedly, but deep down he was terrified. Terrified at the state of their world. Terrified he’d actually never get to play flyer derby again.
“Yeah,” Willow agreed, “If we ever get to play again. But I’m sure we will. After we take care of Belos. I am just waiting to get some revenge. And then there’s the Collector— I’m honestly not sure who is scarier.”
Hunter definitely knew who he thought was scarier, after being turned into a puppet, but he didn’t need to remind Willow of that.
His heart wanted to deny it, but she seemed… genuinely upset by what had happened to him. Like she cared. Even then, it might not mean what he hoped. She had said herself that they were friends.
Just friends.
“Hunter, can I… ask you something?” asked Willow, staring at their hands.
“Umm… yeah?” He answered, his voice shaky.
“Okay,” Willow said, her own voice shaky as well.
Was she… nervous?
“Do you… like me too?” She asked.
Hunter’s entire face heated, and he knew it was bright red.
Oh, Titan— this was worse than when he’d blushed before. She was going to know!
“I—“ Hunter realized out loud, “Wait.. too?”
Willow nodded, “I like you, silly. And I was just wondering if you liked me too.”
“Oh,” said Hunter surprised, but he plucked up the courage to grab hold of Willow’s hands once more and look her in the eye, “Yes, I do, Willow. I really do. But I didn’t think you could like me the way that I like you. I didn’t think anyone could, with me being a…a—“
“A Grimmwalker?” Willow finished, “Hunter, anyone who is worth your time will recognize that you’re a person and not care about that. Yes, I wish I’d found out in a better way, but I will never care, because you’re you. I only… wish you’d told us before and we didn’t have to hear it from Luz. With you dying right in front of me. I think… I think that’s what made me realize just how much I care about you.”
Hunter could hardly breathe, stranding there with Willow— kind, strong, beautiful Willow— before him. And she… she cared.
His insecurities told him it must be some kind of cruel joke. That it was too good to be true.
But deep down, he knew it wasn’t a joke. It was real.
So he smiled and placed a hand on her cheek.
And then Willow pulled him down, wrapped her arms around his neck, and kissed him.
Hunter thought his heart must have skipped a few beats as a million sparks went off inside of it. Somehow, he found the composure to kiss her back.
Hunter wasn’t sure how long it lasted— time seemed to blur before Willow pulled away.
“Oh, Titan—“ she laughed, her cheeks flushed, “I’m sorry, I just sort of sprung that on you and… I hope it was okay?”
Hunter laughed, “No worries. It was great.”
Willow beamed and placed her arms around his neck again. It was a little awkward since Willow was so much shorter than him, but they just sort of… stood there, soaking in the moment.
“Finally!” Gus shouted, running towards them before engulfing them in a group hug.
Hunter had forgotten they weren’t alone.
Camila, Luz, and Amity stood across the way with the most embarrassing, “isn’t that adorable” looks on their faces, and Hunter wanted to curl up and disappear.
But their smiles were kind of infectious.
“We’ve been waiting for weeks,” said Gus, his voice muffled by the group hug, “It’s about time!”
“Wait… you all knew?” Asked Hunter, genuinely perplexed.
“Hunter, the romantic tension between you two was so obvious you could cut it with a knife,” Amity deadpanned.
“Oh, Titan—“ Hunter put his face in his hands. He thought he might die— again— from the embarrassment
“Hey, don’t worry about it,” Willow patted him on the back, “I didn’t realize for a while either. Feelings are hard.”
Hunter chuckled in agreement.
“Yeah,” he agreed, “Feelings are hard.”
He grabbed her hand again, “But I’m starting to think they’re worth it”.

Chapter Fourteen
Master List | Chapter One
Tumblr media
“You guys almost done over there?” Willow asked through the crow phone.
I looked over at Hunter as he laid in my bed reading a book, “Yo, Hunster, you ready?”
He looked up from his book and cringed, “Please never call me that again. But sure.”
I laughed lightly and spoke back to Willow, “Yeah, we are.”
“Cool,” Willow breathed out. She then told us where to meet them. I looked out my window and saw that the sun was about to set.
Standing up I pulled on a light overcoat, “C’mon love, they’re expecting us, like, now.”
Hunter stared at me, his entire being froze, and blushed like there’s no tomorrow…well that’s a possibility but let's not think about that.
“What’s up?” I asked, tying up my shoes.
“I-I uh…” Hunter stuttered. “That’s a new one.”
“New what?” I asked, genuinely confused.
“Th…the, do you actually…” Hunter was stumbling over his sentences. “The pet name…y-you called me l-love.”
My eyes widened and I felt myself flush, “O-oh. I didn’t even notice.”
“It’s okay…” Hunter trailed off, trying to regain his composure. We then made our way down the stairs, said goodbye to my parents and left. Meeting up with Willow and Gus in the forest outside of Blight Manor.
“Hunter!” Gus shouted as we landed. “My man!” They did their little handshake and I laughed lightly. It made me so happy to see Hunter having friends and getting along with them.
“How was visiting your parents?” Willow questioned me.
“It was nice,” I smiled. “We didn’t run into any coven scouts, and my moms were very concerned for us. But after explaining everything they understood.”
“That’s good,” Willow smiled.
“What?” I heard Luz shout. I spun around to see her shout at someone flying away. “I don’t need a security escort!”
“Did you hear that guys?” Willow spoke up.
“Yeah, no,” Gus agreed. “I guess we’ll have to go home. Well it’s been fun.” Willow and I laughed and we all faced her.
“See you around, Luz the human,” I ended.
“Wait, wait, wait,” Luz repeated, tears in her eyes. We ran towards each other for a group hug. “Of course I want you around! I’m so happy. And confused. I thought you were all hiding after what happened at Hexside.”
“They were,” Hunter chimed in. “But then they heard Darius ordered me to protect you.”
“More like he begged us to come because he’s terrified of being recognized,” Gus teased. Hunter looked down sad and I pecked his cheek in reassurance.
“Hunter, are you really up for this?” Luz questioned in concern. “You must be dealing with a lot after learning-”
“That Belos is evil?” Hunter exclaimed in fake cheeriness. “Don’t worry, I’m A-OK!” Hunter looked towards me with that giant fake smile and I pecked his nose this time.
“What the…” Luz trailed off.
“This is what happens when you go missing for a week,” Willow said nonchalantly. As she walked towards us and Hunter walked to Luz, whispering something. I decided to let him have his privacy and focused on Willow and Gus.
After they finished, we all rushed to the side of the manor. Gus used the artifact he got from Graye to check for any illusions. Good thing too, because we saw a hidden scout. Luz bound them with vines and Hunter apologized to them. We were then attacked by an abomiton and I quickly lunged for the head before it could alert anyone. Willow wrapped the arms and legs in vines, and brought them into the ground. We then continued our heist, running to the other side of the manor and stood outside a lit window, showing Amity’s shadow. Luz went up and we waited below on guard.
“So you two…” Gus trailed off, looking between Hunter and I. “How long did you think you could hide it?”
“H-hide what?” Hunter asked, scared, clutching his staff. “We’re not hiding anything!”
Willow raised an eyebrow, “He’s right Gus. With (y/n) kissing him all the time, they’re clearly not hiding anything.”
I covered my face with my hands and totally didn’t make the weirdest noise ever, “Shut up don’t point it out!”
Gus and Willow laughed, and Hunter chuckled awkwardly, “Right, that.”
“So you two are dating!” Gus accused, pointing at us.
“Yeah,” Hunter shrugged, turning away with his face bright red. “What of it? You got a problem?”
“Calm down,” Willow giggled. “We’re not judging, you two are adorable!”
Glancing up, I saw Amity and Luz looking back down. We all walked towards the front of the house as we went over the plan. We hid in the bush, waiting for Kikimora to come. And she did, in very casual wear. She has definitely seen better days. Casting an illusion, Gus made us all look like coven scouts and we hurried into the house. We stood around like we were on guard as Mrs. Blight tried to sell Kikimora on a abomitron. We split from the actual coven scouts and looked into the workroom.
“Ahem,” Mrs. Blight fake cleared her throat. We turned around. “These rooms are off limits.”
“Mrs. Blight!” Hunter exclaimed, saluting. “Kikimora told us of your products. Such inventions would be invaluable assets to the Emperor’s coven.”
“Yeah!” Luz agreed. “And we are all about invaluable assets.”
“Can’t get enough of em,” Gus chimed in.
“I’m an asset gal myself,” Willow said.
“I apologize for the trouble,” Hunter spoke up, pushing Gus. “We’ll return to our duties.”
We walked away only for Kikimora to cut us off, “I knew I recognized that annoying voice.”
We all bolted to the exit, only to be blocked by the abomiton and scout we took down outside. We all backed up and Gus tripped, revealing our identities. Being surrounded on all sides, we were trapped.
Literally. Since they caged us using a forcefield. Amity tried to knock some sense into her mom as she revealed that Edric and Emira tried to steal the ship. Her mother was…really something. Amity tried to break out while Kikimora taunted Hunter.
“Leave him alone!” I shouted, standing in front of him protectively.
“I’m surprised the human is even here,” Kikimora continued, ignoring me. “Aren’t all your friends at the day of unity?” Luz gasped. “Oh that's right,” Kikimora said offhandedly. “The Emperor has eyes everywhere, and they’re all pointed at the Owl Lady.” I felt dread as she said that.
Luz whispered something to Gus and he agreed hesitantly. Then Gus switched Luz and Hunter, and I knew what they were up to. Suddenly the forcefield supposedly broke and Amity questioned how she managed to do that.
“No,” A voice spoke up. “It was the power of science. But you almost had it sweetie.” That must be Amity’s dad. “Odalia, the Emperor is planning to wipe out everyone with a draining spell,” He explained. “And our abominations are helping him do it.” Odalia looked at her nails like this was old news and Mr. Blight gasped, “You already knew?”
“What he does with our products is none of our business,” She replied like it was simple. “What is my business is keeping my family ahead of the rest. You’re welcome, everyone.” Mr. Blight’s face went red and Odalia just scoffed, “There you go making that face. This is why I don’t tell you things. With the Emperor's favor, we’ll live like royalty in the new world. Crowns and everything!” Okay she’s deranged.
“This is too much, even for you,” Mr. Blight said softly.
He used his abomitons to fight Odalia, and she fought back with her oracle magic. Kikimora took ‘Hunter’ and Mr. Blight tried to block her exit. She barreled through with her abomitron and Amity used the abomination goop to try and keep Kikimora stuck. Then Willow summoned vines to hit Kikimora, but Kikimora held ‘Hunter’ as a human shield. Coward. I then summonded a magic circle to grant me beast wings and flew towards ‘Hunter’, only for Kikimora to blast at me, causing me to tumble to the ground. Gus then used illusion magic to make the environment go dark. Shooting was heard as Kikimora finally blasted the ceiling and broke the illusion.
“I don’t need all you creteins,” She hissed. “But this one is mine.” She then blasted off using jetpacks.
“Ha!” Mr. Blight exclaimed. “The jetpack actually works!” He laughed, then groaned, “Oh. The jetpack actually works.”
Abomitons surrounded us once more as Odalia stood in front of us, “Well, since we’re finished with that little mess, let’s get back to business, shall we?”
“You!” Amity shouted in anger. “I am never speaking to you again.” “You’ll thank me later when you’re a literal princess, princess,” Odalia replied. “It’s what's best for the family.”
“What’s best for the family, is putting an end to all this,” Mr. Blight replied. He then destroyed the factory and shut down the abomitons.
“You’re destroying our life's work!” Odalia exclaimed, enraged. “I won’t let you destroy it any further.” She stood, summoning a spirit, while we all stood defensively.
“The work is already finished,” Mr. Blight stated. “Also, I quit.”
“Fine,” Odalia surrendered. “I was meaning to find a more competent business partner anyway. And you won’t be getting your severance package.” She then left through the steam.
“Oh Titan,” Mr. Blight cried out. “That was terrifying.”
Then Willow ran towards the abandoned ship, and we all followed.
“C’mon stupid thing,” Willow said frustratedly, pulling on levers. “We have to follow them!” “Dad, can you use that thing to shut down the abominations at the head?” Amity asked, helping Willow.
“You’re going to rescue your friend,” He said, shocked. We all stared at him, “You’ll need a pilot. And Luz, I apologize for Odalia, you are always welcome at our home.” Mr. Blight touched ‘Luz’s shoulder, breaking the spell and revealing Hunter. “I’m confused.”
“What’s going on?” Amity asked in fear.
“I’m sorry,” Hunter apologized. “It happened so fast. I didn’t even realize what was going on until she was gone!”
“She…she wanted to protect you,” Gus said weakly. “And Eda.”
“Then that means,” Willow whispered looking up.
“She’s being taken to Belos,” Amity finished.

Where we last off, Hunter’s new palisman decided to stop him from doing something stupid and instead just got him captured by the enemy. At least that enemy is less likely to kill him given the chance.
Our intrepid gang of one (1) harpy, one (1) demon of unknown species, one (1) Awesome Girlfriend™ and one (1) child soldier find themselves within a vein of the fallen Titan, in an old mine where ancient witches used to mine for Titan’s Blood.
(*Awesome Girlfriend is trademarked by the Blight Group)
Tumblr media
I love how Hunter is all upset because he nearly got fried by a magic laser and is going on this lecture… and in the background, there is Amity, looking as bored as always. Because she knows Eda & King and knows that it won’t help to explain why they shouldn’t fire random blasts of magic around.
We do learn an interesting tidbit of information, that the veins of the Titan reflect magic. I suppose it makes sense. If its blood was such a potent source of magic as to be able to tear holes through space and time into another dimension, then it makes sense its veins would be able to contain it. Kinda like how the xenomorphs from Alien bleed acid that can eat through anything but themselves.
Now, the idea of magic bouncing around the room randomly sounds like it could make for some very chaotic action scenes, just saying.
Tumblr media
”A bad but sad boy.”
They did it. They broke Hunter down to his bare essentials.
It’s not outright stated, but Eda doesn’t mention Hunter’s name, so it’s not clear if Luz told her that. I could see her maybe keeping it to herself cause Hunter did kinda share it in a moment of trust.
Tumblr media
”There is nothing worse than disappointing someone who thinks you’re special.”
So, as I watched this scene play out, at I first thought Hunter was trying to manipulate Amity, throw her off her game and making her doubt things by making her think Luz would hate her if she returned without the Titan’s Blood.
Then it continued on and I’m now thinking that no, he’s being sincere. Sincere…ly, wrong. He’s wrong about a few things actually.
Because of course Amity is right. Luz would never break up with her if she returned without the Titan’s Blood. No way.
And saying Eda & King don’t have anything to lose if they’re caught? They have a lot to lose, like, you know, their lives, friends and family.
So Hunter is clearly talking about Belos. We saw in the beginning of the episode that Hunter worried that he had disappointed Belos. Regardless of whether they’re actually related, we do know Belos took Hunter in and raised him. The implication is Hunter lost his family, probably at a pretty young age, just to make sure the tragic backstory is extra tragic. Belos gave Hunter everything, a safe home within the castle… that he mustn’t leave against the Emperor’s order. He gave him knowledge forbidden to most common folk and a staff that held power previously unobtainable to him… power dependent on Belos. He gave him a purpose, a part to play in the grand design of the Titan… a pawn in a big game the rules of which he is not privy to.
You know, I’ve called Belos a cult leader and Hunter a child solider before and I was only kinda half-joking. Cause it sure seems to me like Belos has indoctrinated this kid into believing that his entire worth is built around him, Emperor Belos, the Titan’s chosen prophet. By tying Hunter’s entire sense of self-worth into himself, Belos has created a very loyal and useful tool.
As for Amity… when Hunter said they had a lot in common, I kinda scoffed at it, Cause I still maintain that he has more in common with Luz. Magicless and trying to prove themselves despite it. But then I thought about it and… he is kinda right. I mean, just look at Amity and her parents (specifically her mom). The pressure from her parents and her desire to please them made her reject Willow’s friendship, become a less pleasant person, and made her stand by as they got her best friends and crush expelled from school. Sure, after Escaping Expulsion, her parents have less control over her… but you know how they say old habits die hard?
Tumblr media
Uh-oh. And Amity dropped the tamagotchi thing or whatever it was supposed to be so now Luz can’t reach her. And Kikimora will have a clue to follow.
I see what they did there with the Fool’s Blood. It’s like Fool’s Gold. It’s even funnier to me because there is a connection between Fool’s Gold and The Owl House, but I won’t bore you with that story.
The Fool’s Blood signifies… I think he says ”decaying reign?” As in a rule that is coming to and end? I’m not sure what to make of that as of the moment.
(Edit: I have been informed that he said "decaying vein," not "reign." Maybe I should go see a doctor about my hearing.)
Something else that’s very interesting is that Philip had other people with him when he went Eclipse Lake. Three other people, judging by the footprints. One of them was barefoot and the other two wore shoes.
This……… does kinda put another chink in my Philip Wittebane=Emperor Belos theory, since Belos wouldn’t send Kiimora to get Titan’s Blood from a place he knows there’s no Titan’s Blood anymore. Or I dunno, maybe he’s gotten a bit senile in his old age. Or maybe he got annoyed with Kikimora’s antics and decided to get rid of her by luring her into a death trap.
Tumblr media
RIP Eda & King. You should have listened to Hunter.

S3 Has Done A Weirdly Good Job Setting Up For It’s Finale... But Was It Worth It?
For anyone who is thinking this is a gag or a gotcha... Well, it’s a little of the second but it’s not a joke actually. I’m sincere in saying that it has made it so that, despite S2B, it is actually capable of even having a finale at this point that might be at all satisfying. The bigger question is if it matters when there’s so little satisfying about the show at this point or to get hyped about. This was inspired by someone mentioning that they expected the finale to be middling despite loving the show because it simply had too much to wrap up. Too many plot threads to tie together. I mean, come on! They haven’t even given Belos a full backstory yet. Which... That last part is fascinating to me from a narrative standpoint but I also don’t entirely blame them for it. I’ll get back to it though because the bigger question is: How many plot threads really are still dangling? How many character arcs need to be finished? How much expanding on things is there to do? Let’s go down the list of what was theoretically needed to be tackled by S3 once S2 was wrapped. We’ll also talk about how each one was wrapped up (expect much snark), or not as some cases will be: (and sorry if I’m a bit off the mark on any of these. I’ve seen parts of the episodes but still refuse to watch the season itself so much of this is second hand): Returning to the Human Realm: Fixed effectively as much by happenstance as anything else. This allowed the first special to focus more on other matters from what I’ve been told. Speaking of those other matters: Luz’s angst over helping Belos and the Collector: *incoherent screaming* Ignoring this being one of the worst plot decisions in the show, it is wrapped up at this point. Getting Stringbean is effectively that moment. This is, you know, in spite of the fact that all evidence points to Luz entirely ignoring any talk of how mistakes are okay and shifting it entirely onto a personal narrative that is questionable at best because when was the last time someone told Luz no? Or didn’t try their damnedest to understand her? When did Camila ever do this in fact outside of when Luz’s actions caused her to ACCIDENTALLY ASSAULT PEOPLE? But it’s resolved with minimal interaction from other characters besides her mom. Everyone forgives her immediately anyways when it was revealed and it continued into the second special for... reasons I’ll get into. Hunter being a Grimmwalker: Dealt with similarly to Luz’s angst where no one actually thinks it’s a big deal besides him until Belos takes possession of him. They then gut their disability allegories by ‘curing’ Hunter through the death of his best friend. Because I’d totally be cured of my depression if my best friend gave their life to make it happen! Amity... Actually, Amity at the point of S3 has effectively nothing going on that needs further expanding, to the point where she doesn’t bring up her dad in S3 Ep. 2. This is probably why she’s the largest comic relief in S3 Ep. 1 with human realm shenanigans and clumsiness because the writers recognize she’s still the third most important of the characters in the human realm. Speaking of: Gus: Hasn’t had anything going on in the entire show except for single episode plotlines. He was never going to get much out of S3. Or even a S5 potentially with how the writers treated him. Willow: I would copy and paste what I just said about Gus except that she gets stuff in the second special even though many of the elements used for it haven’t been relevant to her character for at least one season, if not literally two. And yet she still gets to effectively be the secondary star to Ep. 2 and... I’ll get into why after I’m done with this portion. Lilith: Her character was done with ‘Cool Aunt Lilith’. Eda: Eda hasn’t actually had anything going on for her except Raine since S1′s finale. Even the S1 finale ends up being treated by her more like a reset back to status quote than anything more which has interesting things about it good and bad. I’m being mouthy enough as is though. Belos: Should have stayed dead and sure as shit isn’t getting anymore interesting just because every bit of lore is tied to his backstory. He’s a villain because he’s an asshole and he really isn’t much deeper than that unfortunately. The best thing about him is change he inspires in other characters and... *looks back at Luz and Hunter* Let’s just say he’s no Perfect Cell, a villain who also gets a lot of bonus points for that same reason. The Collector: Over three months he went from “I can’t wait to play in the bones!” to “What is death? I’m just a wittle guy.” Which is effectively mixing an anarchic, force of nature villain and turning him into a sympathetic villain who doesn’t understand his actions who is Upside: one step away from redemption and Downside: not at all coherent or interesting because he’s so obviously barely a character. He’s just missing too much to not easily be read as a tool of the author to have ANOTHER (the at least fourth in the series in THREE SEASONS) bad guy turned good guy. Just, you know, the biggest because it’s the finale. Camila: She’s a saint with no baggage and resolved Luz’s stuff so nothing really there. The Isles being warped by the Collector: I have thoughts on what I’ve seen and heard but I’ll actually pin this for the same segment as Belos’ ‘full’ backstory. Kikimora: Who was still taking Kikimora seriously? Who COULD take Kikimora seriously by now? She’s threatening only because of a mech but she herself has been a joke since Eclipse Lake. Why would they include her... Put a pin in it. Edit: King: I forgot King at first but he’s honestly a main character at this point because of LORE so I’m not all that surprised. He has such little to do between him finding out about his beginnings to when he found out about his heritage (minus Knock Knock Knocking) that he’s overshadowed by a lot of others. After Titan Hunters, he then became quite possibly the wisest, most rational character in the show. Bare minimum, the wisest 8 year old in existence. And that’s... Just super not interesting. Any real plot line left with King I feel effectively died the moment he was ready to give his blood to the Collector with minimal hesitation. For the greater good, don’t get me wrong, but he’s EIGHT YEARS OLD. And theoretically still the same character as he was in S1. But I’ve done several blogs at this point about TOH’s character arcs being rough to put it mildly. And I could maybe go on but that’s much of what comes to mind immediately. So what is left to cover for S3′s finale? Well... The Collector’s final game which doesn’t have to be that long. The Collector’s turn to being a good guy, likely when his game demands he kill King, or King gets a chance by the rules of the game to kill the Collector but doesn’t do so. Just something that makes the Collector start considering how other people feel about his games and the like in a big, emotional way so he can make his full transition. Belos being forced out of Raine’s body and nuked by The Collector. Again. And Luz’s destiny between worlds. Which world, or both, will she be living in. And that’s... actually pretty bare bones going into a finale. That’s more than little enough to cover in 55 minutes alongside some resolution for the other characters getting happy endings in a montage. And... If you didn’t notice, this is actually mostly what was left on the table for S3 in general except for more potential of the process of beating The Collector being more complicated and harder to do. And that’s where we get into the pins about Kikimora and Willow. They’re padding. It sucks to say, I don’t like it either, but without actually trying to finally use the coven heads as antagonists or have a more protracted conflict with The Collector and what he’s done to the Isles, you needed some way to have an episode in the Isles that still dealt with something specifically of the Isles in theory. And those things were chosen to be first Hexide, a setting that has hardly mattered for about a season at that point besides the fact that it gives a convenient meeting ground for Hunter to meet Gus and Willow... Characters who mostly didn’t matter in S2, and especially S2A for Willow. Second was Boscha and Kikimora for antagonists because one is a Hexide antagonist who stopped mattering before the end of S1 and then the person who had a big enough mech to theoretically even challenge the five strongest witches on the Isles. And then because Gus has a good relationship with most people, plus shipping with Matt, the conflict went instead to Willow. Instead of being clever with her arch and how the show has defined her role in the narrative, they go back to an issue dealt with literally in the first six episodes of the series as a representation for repression. Because out of control magic is totally what makes sense for repressing your emotions instead of, I dunno, her powers genuinely just not functioning because she’s plugged herself up too much. It’s not a bad angle mind you, it’s done fine enough and fits okay with the character, even now, but I also made an entire blog about Too Little Too Late because of it. But then we get to the other pins: Belos’ backstory and the changing of the Isles. These are... theoretically things they cover and expand but they’re also just not narratively critical at this point. Belos is indeed still the main villain but he’s motivated by spite and wanting to finish his goal of killing all witches more than he is by his backstory or logic so his reasoning hardly matters. The changing of the Isles also has mostly to do with selling the Collector as a threat and villain, things that are actually against the writer’s narrative goals. So a lot of things people are asking for are things that, from the standpoint of this being a show with limited time and a high cost of production, just... shouldn’t be covered. That time should more be spent refining finishing the plot and giving a satisfying ending. But when there’s so little to resolve, and characters have been either kind of flat or out of character for much of the season... Why should we be excited for the ending? Especially an ending that has effectively telegraphed itself even before a trailer was put out for it. What sucks about an ending like the Sopranos is that an audience can imagine a dozen ways for it to go down and an answer to that, especially in something they love, can be exhilarating. But in something like The Owl House, where the answers are obvious and only the minutia is up for debate, and much of that minutia could be painful or narratively backwards (OOOOOH BOY will it be a bad time for everyone if they bull the same thing they did with Amphibia and have Luz only live in the Human Realm and wish everyone on the Isles goodbye) then... Why should we be excited? It isn’t the conclusion of a story that has too many questions to be certain about or a villain we want so badly to see brought down that it’ll bring us true catharsis. It’s the ending of a world we once saw so much potential in and now are just hoping won’t die in its final moments. And honestly? For me? I wish the show had actually faced a cancellation because that world feels so small now that I’d rather it have just never been given an ending so we could play in the world as much as we desired and never had to face the prospect of one last, painful goodbye instead of a triumphant farewell.

Danny Phantom / Owl House Crossover Concept!
Okay so I don’t have a plot for this, just a concept and a couple scenes, and I don’t want to start another wip when i don’t even have a plot... so anyone can take this, verbatim even, I give full permission.
So first thing’s first: This idea is set in The Owl House universe, with witches and magic, not ghosts (so also no Plasmius or Dani). So if you’re unfamiliar with TOH then i guess you can just skip this post.
Spoiler Warnings for TOH season 2 finale: King’s Tide
Buckle up, it got kinda long
Scene: It’s post-King’s Tide, so the Hexsquad is in the human realm... for at least a few days, no longer than a week for upcoming reasons.
The kids are outside in a fairly open area near the woods (?) but no one is around. They hear the sound of a car getting louder very quickly. They turn to see the GAV (would have to re-name the Ghost Assault Vehicle) screech to a halt near them. Jack and Maddie get out with their bazookas, followed by a frantic-looking Danny, trying to tell them to think this through.
They pull out some sort of hand-held devise that beeps when it’s turned towards the kids. Jack probably yells “WITCH!” before firing at them. Someone creates a magic shield, but the shot was for a smoke-bomb thing, and it starts pouring out this red smoke. Amity, Gus, and Willow drop to their knees, very much weakened, Hunter is weakened but less so, probably leaning heavily but not down, and Luz is not affected (but Glyph magic doesn’t work in the human realm so she isn’t able to do much).
Danny jumps in front of them before they can make another shot and tells his parents to stop. He looks a bit shaky. His parents call him back over but he refuses. Maddie, frustrated, calls out “Daniel Fenton-Wittebane, you get back here or else!” And he refuses again, so in an act of severe child-endangerment, she aims at the witches behind him. In that moment, white rings form around him and move up and down and transform him (no clothing change, just the white hair and green eyes if you want... the only required thing is the pointy ears) into a WITCH! Gasp!
The parents as well as the group behind him falter for a moment (Jack and Maddie could do a whole “What have you done with our son, witch?!” and a “I AM your son!” thing), so Danny grabs the downed group with Luz and Hunter and are able to start running away.
Danny makes a big circle with a free hand a little ways in front of the group as they’re running and yells to the group “Everyone hold your breath!” They run through the circle and turn invisible! They quickly loose Jack and Maddie because of the literary restraints of trying to hold your breath after/while running...
Background/Lore: A while after the two Wittebane brothers disappear into the realm of demons and witches, the remaining Wittebanes find a baby (Caleb’s and Unnamed-Lover’s baby!) (PLOT HOLE: idk how the child got to the human realm, or how the Wittebanes knew they were Caleb’s, etc, etc, etc... that’s for any author who wants to pick this up to decide, even if that decision is to simply not address it), and eventually leave Connecticut.
The child and their descendants are “cursed” (probably by the same witches and demons that lured the good brothers into their evil realm and killed them). They are a little susceptible to the affects of the Witchbane flower (read: Blood Blossoms) (term coined by the Wittebanes), and they have a weird tumor growing on their hearts. They continue the practice of Witch Hunting, even as the times move forward.
Maddie Wittebane eventually meets Jack Fenton (a descendant of (in)famous Witch Hunter John Fentonightingale) and they fall in love talking about their hatred for witches. Maddie used to have a brighter orange hair like Jazz’s, until she got her tumor removed (first one in her line to survive, thanks medical science!). Her weakness to Witchbane disappeared and her hair dulled to a more natural orange. Of course, she kept the tumor for study purposes.
Enter (yo) young Danny Fenton-Wittebane at just 14, he was poking around in his parent’s lab and accidentally turned something on near/under the tumor that Jack/Maddie had carelessly left out, and it exploded on Danny, activating his dormant Bile Sac! (the tumor was a witch’s bile sac, in case anyone didn’t figure that out) He’s a Witch! OH NO! But through panic and determination, he’s able to will the witch away (he unknowingly casts a Transmogrification spell on himself that turns him less witchy enough to pass the sensors his parents made and to cast a reverse-transmogrification spell).
Eventually he gets curious and when he’s alone, he transforms and practices magic.
Danny’s Powers: I’m thinking his powers would be pure -- uncorrupted by any structure or tradition -- Wild Magic. I think his powers would mirror Luz’s Glyph spells, each having a base of Light, Plant, Ice, or Fire. Absolutely no idea about any of the Isles’ magic tracts. He’d be able to do spells that no other witch has thought possible, but also would have no idea how to do some basic spells from the Isles. One of his favorites is Flight! He would take a levitation spell and just kinda supercharge it.
Sam and Tucker: 3 options for Danny’s friends: 1, they just don’t exist. 2, they were his friends back in not-Connecticut (idk what state, it varies). 3, they’re in Connecticut and Danny could stay with Camila and the gang (dang sorry Camila), and Danny could meet them at school.
If they exist, Tucker could stay the same, he’s perfect the way he is. SAM on the other hand is absolutely a Witchy-Goth. If you find the right online spaces, you can find people who have found Glyph magic, and do their own glyphs and combos! (The problem is... they all think that if the paper disintegrates, the curse/blessing worked, because the paper magically disintegrated!) When Luz finds this, she’s able to actually know what those combos would do if they actually worked, and finds new combos, and is inspired to make more for when they return to the demon realm.
Other Notes: If Danny gets to the demon realm, he could adopt a little green dog palisman named Cujo.
I don’t have any plot so anyone can take this and run with it, change anything you want, take everything verbatim, go wild (magic)!
I FORGOT! So when the portal opened up to spit the kids out, the Fenton-Wittebane household got a ping on their new Magic Detector! So they packed up and drove to Connecticut, so that’s why it took a few days to get there.
