As someone who lives in Texas (unfortunately) I find it SO FUNNY when people make keith overwhelmingly southern. Like, cmon yall. Texas history 101, the cowboy era ended a long ass time ago, most of us DONT wear cowboy hats anymore. Why the fuck would keith ride a horse???? Nobody does that unless they own horses??? And horses are incredibly expensive???
Like, I understand cowboy aus, and historical aus, but if Texas, in 2024, isn't like that (the stereotypes are so wild) then why would it be like that in approx 2314?
Very few wear cowboy hats or boots. Very few have horses, and NOBODY rides them to school, ffs. Keith is not a farmhand.
Some texas stereotypes that are true, however...
-yeah we say yall nonstop
-ain't, wouldja, couldn't've, etc.
-confederate flag is less common here, normally you see the "come and take it" or the "don't tread on me"
-if keith ever went to public school, 1/3 of his classmates or more are Latino
-most Texans know moderate amounts of Spanish
-we celebrate Cinco de Mayo, and most ppl think it's Mexican independence day (it's not)
-barbecue.
-chili WITHOUT BEANS YOU HEATHEN
-will fight over food, family, or football
-either you support the Dallas Cowboys or the Houston Texans. Any other team is sacrilege. Once you make this choice, it WILL have effects on your social life.
-football is basically king here lol, none of the other stuff in school gets nearly the funding
-people living in rural areas (like Keith's dad) often own guns, and not pistols either-- rifles and shotguns, usually
-NOBODY SAYS YEEHAW. at least not unironically
-Texans will ironically say yeehaw, rootin-tootin, etc bc we are aware of our history and think it's wack
-were not all racist, but everyone knows at least one person who is (usually an older family member)
-mind your gotdamn manners at the table. Get those elbows away from your food
-sir and ma'am for strangers
-open doors for old people. You don't have to be a man to do this.
-please and thank you is SO important, people will assume things about you otherwise
-if you don't have a church, you miss out on a lot of community (coming from a non-religious person)
-most people here are Baptist, on that note (Hispanic people contribute to the Catholic population, but still, Baptist is #1)
-internet service is awful unless you're in a city
-we WILL close all schools for 2 inches of snow/ice
-we laugh at hurricanes, and then do our best to help our Houston neighbors
-but everybody hates Houston and Dallas, unless you live there
-most people are okay with Austin, San Antonio, etc
-EL PASO IS TINY, AND HALF OF IT IS IN MEXICO (and is called Ciudad Juárez there)
-beer is god. And God has no problem with drinking. (According to beliefs here)
-gambling is illegal here, but we love it, so states like Oklahoma have built casinos RIGHT ON THE STATE BORDER so that we can drive a bit and gamble as we please
-everybody's dad drives a truck. Otherwise people assume he's got a small pp

trick or treat!! 🎃🦇 (btw i loved hearing about the backstory/historical aspects of your fav wip, i’m not even in the hsr fandom but it’s so interesting)
THANK YOU <33333
(i know it's literally november 3 but shhhhh, all soul's was just yesterday it still counts—)
anyways!! the next fic i wanna talk about is... also jingfu 😭😭😭 this is embarrassing
presenting: ✨ jingfu vegas wedding ✨
there was a time i got back into asoiaf and jaime/brienne, and there's this subgenre of jb fics where they get quickly married on the quiet isle for one reason or another! and i just got obsessed with this type of wedding, and then i got to thinking about vegas weddings, and then i imagined jingfu drunk and giggly and happy and my gdocs stood NO chance
what's great about jingfu is, as i hope to never stop reminding my readers, is that they're chinese living in a chinese setting wifh chinese culture. so you can't just throw them into an actual vegas wedding situation—china has its own wedding ceremonies and the luofu must have its own technological advancements in that area too! so long story short i had a lot of fun brainstorming the wedding rituals and how it would mesh with the luofu, how people would even discover a wedding has taken place considering chinese weddings CAN technically be done without witnesses if you're feeling quirky enough (like maybe legally it's not allowed but ive seen cdramas where they do the same thing so like. me 🤝 cdramas; ignoring things for dramatic flair), and generally just trying to write their world vividly enough that it doesn't feel like Vague American Fantasy Spaceship #2432
i do think i kinda succeeded!! and even if i didn't, well, in my head i can clearly visualize it and in the end this is a fic for ME and not for yall, sorry but i come first when it comes to my fanfic :P
also i wrote my thoughts on the au while we were out with paternal relatives eating hotpot, so of course their drunken wedding feast is hotpot. i couldn't resist
It was strange to see the General and Master Diviner drinking, and even stranger to see them drinking like they were racing to their graves.
At least it would be. Extenuating circumstances, Dan Heng art thy name.
i also really like these lines i giggle everytime! because i ship jingfu but i also ship jingheng in the pathetic unrequited pining old man jing yuan kinda way.... its hilarious how down bad jing yuan still is for dan heng/dan feng and so since i needed a catalyst for the drinking i used dan heng hehe
also i researched chinese constellations for this because i needed more drunk activities and i figured i could do one of those "laying on the grass and pointing at the stars" except ofc it's the luofu so that's synthetic grass and false stars and their stars are also different and it would be very weird to mention ursa major or something! so i had to do research </3 i swear the things i do for my craft
i don't know how to end this.... i guess here's another excerpt HAHAHA
Jing Yuan, thanks be to Lan, had left behind some of his formal clothes at her residence, which meant the two of them did not have to sneak all the way back to Exalting Sanctum just to nab the appropriate garments. If they had not been drunk, the journey from the gardens to her quarters would not have taken so long. Unfortunately: they were. Unfortunately: Jing Yuan was enamored with every flower that passed him by, and Fu Xuan was busy counting the number of off-color stones in the cobbled path.
They did still make it there. Eventually.
In one of Fu Xuan’s many closets were the robes they’d worn to Qixi-jie—his a simple but elegant grey trimmed with white, and hers a dainty pink, complete with a round embroidered fan. Fu Xuan took Jing Yuan’s out, shoved it into his arms, and then shoved him out. He staggered out into the hallway, and then turned to blink at her, lost.
Fu Xuan rolled her eyes. “Well? What are you waiting for?”
“Oh,” Jing Yuan said. The light came back into his eyes. “Oh! Yes.”
Stupid, she thought, and closed the door. But apparently she’d said it out loud, because he yelled, muffled, “You’re the one marrying me!”
“I won’t if you don’t shut up!” Fu Xuan yelled back.
Immediate silence.
thank you for the ask again hehehe <3

💅💖Glamour Witch Tips PART 3 💖💅
Happy Lions Gate portal yall, hope your manifestations all come to fruition on this day! I haven’t done a compilation of glamour witch tips in a while so I thought I’d do that today. I’ve done lots of reading and research so I got a lot for y’all in this post. With that, let’s get into it!
💖For my false eyelash wearers, I hope you’re cleaning those things when you’re done wearing them. Most importantly I hope you’re cleaning them in moon water for additional alluring powers and or protection.
💖 Honey 🍯. Honey is an incredible thing to use in your Witchery. Not only is it a natural antioxidant, it also Carrie’s antibacterial and antifungal properties. Perfect for when you have a sore throat. It’s also been used across nations in many spiritual practices for ages.
Physical: honey can be used topically to treat acne, hyperpigmentation, dandruff, and (I’m not a doctor so take this with a grain of salt) has been historically used to treat burns and wounds to keep out germs and fight bacteria/infection.
Honey when consumed can also be used to; treat sore throat and cold symptoms, help with digestive unease, boost metabolism, and may help with cardiovascular health as well (again not a doctor so please take this with a grain a salt)
Spiritual/Witchcraft: Appropriately nicknamed “Nectar of the Gods” a perfect offering for most deities as honey is prevalent in most countries and cultures. Can be used to “sweeten” up already existing relationships. I personally associate honey with abundance due to the fact it’s the fruit of bees labor. Use honey as a face mask for additional beauty and attraction rituals.
💖Lavender. Lavender is an essential for every witch and has been used for a millennia in both spiritual practices and medicine as well. I use lavender soap to help ease my anxiety. I like to visualize my anxiety from where it’s felt the most (for me it’s my stomach and my head) leaving that area and traveling to my hands. Then I visualize it seeping out of my skin and that’s where I wash it away with the lavender soap. I bought my soap from NakedVoodoo on Instagram and I definitely would recommend her products and services to a friend and to y’all.
💖Rosemary. Rosemary is a great and I mean great herb that anyone can use and likely already has in their kitchen. In glamour it’s associate with confidence and youth; but its not limited to that. It’s also associated with awareness, banishing, cleansing, comfort, contentment, focus, loving spirits, memories, and renewal.
I used a rosemary shampoo bar from Nole, (an AMAZING hair care company that I recommend for everyone, it’s a little bit pricey but 10000% worth it.) Every time I use it in the shower I ask that it cleanses me of all icky things that I might of have picked up on and restores and renews my energy.
💖Seaweed. Seaweed and sea moss are not only a great supplement to add to your diet (I do have a post about it somewhere one here) it also has incredible magical properties for things such as abundance and blessings. Fantastic for rituals and spells invoking your health, stability, and like said prior abundance.
💖Cleanliness. This might be mostly because of my OCD (no actually, I just got diagnosed last month and since starting medication I’ve been doing much better) But making sure both you and your space is clean before spell work makes such a huge difference. Not only does it have your cleared energetically, but it also does something for your confidence as well. So before you do your spell work, shower and give your area a little tidying up and see the difference it makes.
💖Beauty 👏 love 👏 and 👏 attraction 👏 work 👏 is 👏 protection! 👏. This isn’t as much as a tip as it is more so a school of thought. I said what I said, beauty is the most deadly yet underestimated weapon you can have in this life. Doing love and attraction work on yourself is absolutely protection work, because when people love you and are attracted to you they are also going to be rooting for you and is going to be on your side.
As always happy crafting, stay safe, and stay beautiful my pretties.

ok im just gonna give a summary of my opinion on the situation re ofmd and historical stede bonnet. not bc i think my opinion matters but just so ppl know and if anybody wants to unfollow they can
basically i think it was a shitty ignorant decision but it was likely made in good faith. im pretty sure what happened was that david jenkins thought "haha wouldnt it be cool if i named some characters after real pirates like a cute little reference" and just... didnt analyze that any further. like this is the guy who said he doesnt care about pirates and refused to look up when pinocchio was written. the producer read one sentence on wikipedia and closed it forever. knowing the shows approach to historical accuracy as a whole, he probably just went with his standard "who cares im not doing research" approach which. sometimes works! and in this case it very much doesnt! like im all for 1700s leather jackets but like maybe when it comes to fucking SLAVERY just think about it a little more before you decide its not relevant to the story so it doesnt matter?
my main concern is HOW DID NO ONE POINT THIS OUT TO HIM. the writers room is like. half poc if im not mistaken. and within the show itself racial issues are handled decently. so why did no one say "hey can we change the characters names?" bc thats literally it thats all it wouldve taken. best case scenario no one else thought to look it up. worst case scenario someone did point it out and got shut down. if something comes out that thats the case, then thats a whole different situation. but for now im leaning towards thinking that this was a snowball of laziness
and listen im very hesitant to declare ANY media "irredeemable" so i find it impossible to put a show where the main issue that the characters have insensitive names due to creator idiocy in that category. and as warranted as the criticism is... some of yall have no idea how to process gray areas. the show can be both progressive and problematic at the same time. bad things can be done with innocent intentions. and that goes for you too "we stan david jenkins he did nothing wrong shut up" crowd!!
but like its not really a fixable mistake bc like. its the characters names. how the fuck do you retcon that. you dont. i mainly think the best course of action is this. to the fandom: STOP FUCKING EQUATING THE CHARACTERS WITH THE HISTORICAL FIGURES. thats it!!! its very easy!!! just fucking separate reality from fiction as much as possible. dont even bring up the historical figures unless its to point out how awful they were. your blorbo isnt a slaveowner? cool stop fucking comparing him to one then
and for the show going forward? really the main thing is that david jenkins needs to apologize. if youre pissed about this, @ him on twitter. preferably politely bc no matter how justified it is pointed insults make ppls brains shut down from criticism. he really needs to understand that he fucked up on this one. i dont think hes a bad dude i think hes just an idiot with good intentions. ofc if he defends his decision or makes some passive aggressive apology this is all out the window. i dont know the dude, i cant say for sure whats up with him. but im leaning towards hanlons razor on this
there are also some little steps for the show to make. mainly straying even more from biography (which considering the way hes talking about it im 100% sure is going to happen to some extent, but the more the better). honestly just dont introduce any more characters with historical names unless theyre completely ~unproblematic~ which. idk if an unproblematic famous pirate actually existed but they can try. idk what was up with anne bonny
so tldr love the show bully david jenkins

hello hello! do u all want to know more about the Holy Lands bc I have too much to say about it! (jokes on yall, i'm gonna say it anyway)
First! Holy Lands is an independent state that has ties to all the Tropical, Temperate and Arctic areas but they are not under any of those areas. But they aren't any sort of "country" either, they're more of a unified community that everyone does their own part to help. Instead it's a safe haven set up for people who have been "blessed" to live in (if need be).
In fact, the Holy Lands was initially founded as a protection squad for the magic tree (or as we know him in the 'present' Dream) who were blessed by the 3 gods with the specific power of 'protection' and 'premonition.' These founders that found this tree are long gone at this point but their efforts still remain. There are sigils tied specifically to keep this area safe and even more spells around the general area where Dream's sapling is even more protected because it's imperative that no one with evil intentions get to him. Because he is tied with the very magic they enjoy and are blessed with and if he disappears or is taken too far from his tree for too long, there will be severe consequences. It doubles also as a convenient way for those 'blessed' to be able to combat the cons of their own power with help! Because of that, each member learns to protect themselves before they're more or less allowed to venture outside (just in case)
More on present stuff, the Holy Lands is a community! There aren't specific jobs that people take or are hired (there aren't even shops actually) instead they all help around based on their own expertise. But they do end up trading a lot with other communities so that's why they have good relations with the rest of the world! That's how they keep their independent status without resorting to other forms of power plays (unlike other areas)
With that being said, it's a safe haven! Like with every universe, there will be those who are greedy and want as much power as they can physically get, so there have been instances where 'blesseds' have been taken from their families or support systems in order to get control over their power, so they usually offer aid or even help prevent those events from happening in the first place. In fact, some of the members within the Holy Lands are rescued, other stumble their way there, and historically there also have been members who've left the haven to live elsewhere. In the same manner, because this is a safe haven, they open their doors for any magic user (learned, born or blessed) that come to them in their time of need! One such example that I'm willing to share rn is George!! He has a whole backstory of his own, he lives in Holy Lands even if he isn't 'blessed' (george doesnt mind tbh, he enjoys chilling and playing around with dream team and the rest, they're all so good to each other!!)
If yall wanna know something about this au, or what i'm writing about it you can ask me thru my ask box :D I'd love to talk more about this au <3 Keep safe y'all n eat well and drink lots and rest up! <3

How would you explain to ghosts older than Fanny that Germany and Italy are one country and not separated enterties?
Okay so this fascinating and exactly what I love about my degree: trying to answer questions like this!! It’s kind of a confusingly worded question but I’ll certainly try my best: this isn’t exactly my strong suit but I did do a German module last term so I’ll try. A bit of context first, and then I’ll try and explain it to the ghosts XD (again under the keep reading so no one is annoyed by my ramblings.)
(Stay tuned to hear about Galileo and the toastie maker)
im talking: Ghosts related questions, theories or headcanons yall have, your favourite characters/scenes/episodes/friendships + why, general comments on anything Ghosts you wanna say
Link to inbox: Max’s Ghost Post
So Germany obviously didn’t exist in the way we understand it today until the late 1800s. Like much of the world the area was once made up of tribes that each had control over very small areas, this would’ve been after Robin had died but before any of the others were on the scene. Obviously Robin wouldn’t have known this at the time but it was there as described by Tacitus (if you wanna understand the origins of Central Europe and this tribal time, I’d recommend reading a translation of Tacitus’ Germania. It’s thought to be the oldest Roman account of what Germany was like. 10/10 would recommend.)
Following that, Germany was made up of the Holy Roman Empire, which for a lot of its history was not actually in Rome. The HRE was formed in 962AD and was basically a codependency between the Pope in Rome and monarchs controlling small areas in Germany. The Emperor was in overall control of the region and the first major Emperor was Charlemagne (even though he kinda wasn’t the first but complexitiessss).
Basically, Germany remained in this state of limbo until the end of the HRE in 1806, but prior to that the Reformation took place and split the Church which created all manner of tension between German protectorates and the Catholic Church which was obviously based in present day Italy.
Anyway, now onto the question at hand: explaining the changes in geopolitics to the ghosts would be kinda difficult because as we’ve seen they can be quite stuck in their ways. Thomas probably would’ve seen the end throws of the HRE during his lifetime (although he would’ve been quite young) but prior to him everyone lived (or in Robin’s case lived in death) at the time of the HRE and this interconnected nature of Germany and the papacy.
There are so many things you’d have to take into consideration when explaining history to the ghosts because you simply couldn’t take anything for granted. Knowledge and concepts that we assume as universal today simply wouldn’t be inherent to them. We understand what a “country” is for example, but that word doesn’t have an actual set meaning so there’s not really a way to explain it to someone who doesn’t have any concept of what that it. How do you explain the concept of independence to the Plague Ghosts, who would’ve lived under the same feudal system as peasants in the HRE? What about explaining what a national border is to Robin, who would never have come into contact with anyone outside his tribe? How do you explain “Germany” and “Italy” to people who have never heard places referred to as that before?
Our brains are made up of contextual knowledge that we have gathered over our lifetime. We need to understand so much about the world in order to understand basic concepts and objects that we take for granted. It’s this kinda of idea of having to explain modern concepts to historical people. If you were to go back in time, could you explain to Galileo what a toastie maker is? Probably not, because you need so much contextual knowledge. You’d have to start by explaining what a toastie is, and then what a toastie maker does, and then how it is powered, and what electricity is, and what power stations are, there are so many layers that you don’t even think about until you start deconstructing what makes up our contextual knowledge. So many concepts you’d have to explain to them (”Italy”, “Germany”, “Catholicism”, “Pope”, “Country”, “Independence”) none can be skipped over or else it wouldn’t make sense to them.
I think that’s why it must be so disorientating to be one of the ghosts, because it’s not that they aren’t aware of current affairs, they probably see the news etc all the time on TV and whatever, but they don’t have the contextual knowledge to process it in their historical way of thinking.
Shit, Anon. That was so long I’m truly sorry but I find this stuff fascinating!! I hope that all makes some kind of sense and vaguely answers your question. Feel free to keep asking questions like this etc because I literally loved answering this one so much!!

A very important history lesson and why we have to fight back this time.
A lot of people saw the White Tears Death March at Michigan's capitol & said: "If black people did that..."
"Some mentioned Reagan's gun control law after '67 Panthers protest But there are many historical examples of white people freaking out when blacks protested.
(A thread)
After the Not-So-Civil War, this happened ALL THE TIME.
Remember, the states that got their asses kicked were not automatically allowed back into the Union. Southern white supremacists were so scared when blacks exercised their new right to vote that they started a race war.
In 1866, La. reconvened its Constitutional Convention because Democrats were trying to stop blacks from voting. (This was before conservative Southern "states rights" advocates switched became Republican. We'll get to that)
Of course, black people marched (but not like that).
When the black people showed up, a group of white supremacists (Y'all call them "Confederates now — same thing) was waiting on them and opened fire.
To be fair, the black ppl weren't actually protesting, per se when the racists opened fire. They were doing something much worse:
They were dancing and playing music.
Y'all, those racist bastards opened fire on a MARCHING BAND.
Then this happened:
Partly because of the New Orleans Massacre, Congress passed the First Reconstruction Act. Black Louisianans were guaranteed the right to vote but the act did something else that would make the racists even madder.
It took away the right to vote for any ex-Confederate.
If you think this was bad, Georgia was even worse.
Ga. holds the distinction of being the only state that was so racist that we had to kick the ENTIRE STATE out of America.
Seriously, that happened. And it was partly because of the Camilla Massacre.
First, you gotta remember that blacks damn near outnumbered whites in Georgia. So, after they got the right to vote, 33 black ppl were elected to the state legislature.
Wypipo wasn't having that shit.
So the white legislators called their homeboys up (Y'all call them the KKK)
The KKK ran the DULY ELECTED "Original 33" out of office.
Then the Ga. Supreme Court ruled that black people were technically citizens, but the Ga. laws were only meant for white people, so... Black ppl, y'all need to go somewhere with that "equality" shit.*
*I'm paraphrasing
A week after they ousted the Original 33, one of the (did I mentioned DULY ELECTED) legislators organized 200-300 blacks & marched from Albany to Camilla to hold a rally in the town square
When they got to Mitchell County, whites waiting in storefronts and on roofs, opened fire
The Camilla Massacre got Georgia kicked BACK OUT of the Union and the state had to be readmitted for a second time in 1870 after it seated SOME of the Original 33.
Why not all?
Well, 1/4 of the Original 33 were murdered or attacked.
On October 25, 1870, 2,000 black people gathered at a rally in Eutaw, Ala. right before the Nov. election. The crowd wanted to prove they weren't of white racists.
Why would they be scared?
Well, in March, 30 masked white men had lynched James Martin, a black Republican.
It happened again in July, but they didn't just kill Gillford Coleman, they cut his body up into pieces. The racists were afraid Eutaw Co. blacks would help elect a Republican Gov. liked they helped Grant win the county by 2000 votes the 1868 election,
Klansman rode into town and opened fire on adults and children and promised to do it again if Black people voted.
The tactic worked.
Instead of Republicans winning, the county by 2000 votes, the Democrat Governor won by 43 votes.
That was lame compared to the Battle of Liberty Place.
Remember when this whole "Confederate Statue" thing first started a couple of years ago? It was partly about a monument to the Battle of Liberty Place, when a whole white supremacist army overthrew the Louisiana gvt.
In 18 months a white supremacist ARMY called the "white league" (racists are notoriously bad for coming up with nicknames) killed hundreds of Black voters in Colfax, New Orleans, Coushatta & Opelousas
This is what led to the passage of the 2nd Ku Klux Klan Act
(Side note: The Colfax Massacre also resulted in a Supreme Court Case, which was the first time the Supreme Court said the Second Amendment guaranteed individual citizens the right to own guns)
A lot of Black folks weren't having this shit. So they formed their own armies.
In SC, the KKK and other Dollar Tree brand racist groups were killing Blacks in the lead up to the 1876 election. In Ellenton, over 100 black voters were murdered.
But it wasn't just about politics. White people HATED when blacks told them what to do.
You gotta remember, most southern whites were Confederates, so during Reconstruction military occupation, a lot of the soldiers were black.
On July 4, 1876, in Hamburg, the town next to Ellenton, SC, a group of black national guardsmen were drilling while black people watched
A group of these Dollar Tree white soldiers called the "Red Shirts" came through trying to flex and the Black Guardsmen told them to wait to pass until they finished.
Yall know those former whip crackers weren't having that.
A white judge told the Red Shirts that they could take the black NATIONAL GUARDSMEN's guns, they found the black militia and began opening fire.
94 white men were indicted.
0 were convicted
The leader of the Hamburg Massacre?
He went on to serve 24 years in the US Senate
Again, it wasn't just about stopping black people from voting.
In 1887, 10,000 black workers went on strike and started forming a union on La sugar plantations.
So the plantation owners hired the KKK to come in and kill the organizers. Then, it became any black person.
No one knows how many were killed but the official number is "enough"
Louisiana sugar plantations wouldn't organize again for another 50 years.
On July 3, 1919, a group of black Buffalo Soldiers went to Bisbee, Ari. Now, this may have been before cookouts were invented, because the soldiers had planned to march in the parade the next day.
Bisbee's white sheriff told the black soldiers that they couldn't walk around with their guns. When the police officers tried to disarm the Buffalo Soldiers, the refused. So they deputized all the white men in town to disarm the negroes
The soldiers were like: "Fuck y'all lil' parade, then," and were preparing to leave when one of the deputies was like: "You can't talk to a white man like that."
He opened fire.
The other deputies did, too.
An investigation would later reveal that it was planned.
The Sherriff and others "had planned deliberately to aggravate the negro troopers so that they would furnish an excuse for police and deputy sheriffs to shoot them down."
No word on the cookout.
Later that same year, black cotton sharecroppers met at a church in Elaine, Ark. They were trying to organize to get better prices but white farmers showed up. After an exchange of gunfire, a white man ended up dead.
The rumor spread that there was a black coup in Elaine
Whites from all across the South came to Elaine to literally hunt Black ppl. No one still knows how many were killed. Estimates range up to 250. You know how they finally ended it?
Federal troops arrived...
And arrested all the black people who were left alive.
In 1945, 19 black Air Force fighter pilots were arrested for trying to integrate an all-white officers club at an Indiana Airbase. 17 more showed up. They were arrested. 25 more showed up the next night, and were arrested.
Segregation was technically against military rule
So the Air Force gathered all 101 black airmen in a room & offered a deal: All they had to do is sign a paper saying they agree to the segregation or,
Face arrest for violating a direct order, which was technically punishable by death.
All 101 refused.
They were all arrested
Historically, the white "patriots" who love the flag and the troops treated black soldiers like they all took a knee before an NFL game.
In August 1947, Chicago residents grew angry when they realized the gov't was giving homes to Black veterans in the white Fernwood Park area
The day after the families moved in, on August13, the whites attacked
For 3 days, as many as 5,000 white rioters pulled Black people out of cars and beat them. They threw rocks at the homes and smashed windows. Then they started setting fires.
The police did nothing.
In 1949, black Chicago union stewards assembled went to a meeting. There were white people at the meeting, too. The meeting was even in the home of a white couple, but a rumor had already been circulating that black people were planning to buy a house in the white neighborhood.
By the end of the meeting, hundreds of whites were outside.
This one lasted 5 days.
An estimated 10,000 white rioters took part in the Englewood riot.
Police did nothing to stop it.
Remember when MLK wrote about "white moderates" in the Letter from a Birmingham Jail?" Well, those protests were partially successful.
On May 11, 1963 black protesters were celebrating. The city had decided to desegregate water fountains, lunch counters, retail stores...
On May 11, 1963, the KKK was also planning a march in Bham because...you know.
Just before 11 am, a uniformed Bham police officer got out of his car and put a package on the porch of a small house.
It was dynamite.
It exploded.
A few minutes later, another bigger bomb at the AG Gaston motel.
Everyone knows about the 16th St. church bombing in Birmingham, but few people know that there were more than FIFTY bombings in "Bombingham" during the Civil rights era
One section of town was bombed so often it's still called "Dynamite Hill."
Of course, the KKK marched anyway.
Oh, and that bombed house belonged to A.D. King, Martin Luther King's brother.
King had left town a few hours earlier...
After checking out of the AG Gaston Hotel
(Fun fact: Angela Davis and Condoleeza Rice grew up around the corner from each other in Dynamite Hill)
On February 5, 1968, black students from SC State tried to integrate a bowling alley. They were kicked out, but this time, the police were waiting to beat protesters.
But students kept showing up. So the governor called the state troopers and the National Guard.
On Feb. 8, while attempting to put out a bonfire, the Troopers opened fire on 200 protesters, shooting dozens of black students and protesters.
1 high school student was killed and 2 SCSU students. Police said they thought the students were shooting,
They weren't
One person was arrested, convicted and served time, Cleveland Sellers...
A student.
You might know his son @Bakari_Sellers
In March, 1970, in Lamar SC, a mob of angry white people attacked black protesters. Well... these protesters were kinda young and they were protesting in a weird way:
They were going to school.
A judge had ordered the school district to integrate
There are so many more examples
Check out "Ax Handle Saturday" in Jacksonville, Fla.
Read about when Fannie Lou Hamer and the Mississippi Freedom Democrats showed up at the '64 convention
The Freedom Riders
Bloody Sunday in Selma
Art Bacon in Talladega
So when white people show up to protests angry and outspoken, and nothing happens, you don't have to wonder what would happen if black people did that,
Just remember what happened when black people just SHOWED UP
Not if...
WHEN."

27, 34, 22? :0
thank you!!!!! i got a bit off-topic on the third one sorry hhgvf
27: Favorite area/region
out of all the games? I love roaming around every part of skyrim that’s not snowy (it may be kind of shit but i will always be a basic skyrim fan ghfudghugudf sorry yall) and i also love summerset in ESO, both auridon and the mainland! oh. and artaeum. i can navigate auridon like the back of my hand now (doing the start of the AD questline 3+ times will get you to that point) but i’m falling more and more in love with summerset. it’s gorgeous
34: Which type of magic would you most like using?
there’s quite a few i think would be absolutely neat to be able to use and also fun but the one that suits my “””character””” best and that i would probably like the feel of is healing! more combat-oriented, however, would be frost.
22: Favorite side quest
the gay bosmer quest in valenwood (ESO) that made my sob hysterically and also “manor of masques” in ESO because alchemy and elder scrolls first (second?) trans character and ahhhhhhh……… ahhh. I love it a lot. makes my heart happy.
plus with my interest in the booth family of american history, which was essentially a theatrical dynasty, i inadvertently get to know a bit about american theatrical history of the 19th century which in turn gets me mildly interested in the stage as a whole. not as an actor (heavens no, you couldn’t get me on a stage to perform even if you tried), of course, a historian… but still an interest. point is, i love me some thespians, and i ESPECIALLY love me some elven thespians.
although, I actually hoped there was some cultural/historical lore in the manor of masques quest– or at least somewhere in the house of reveries– to tell us about its history, more of what they do, etc.. and maybe more about the individual characters of the house of reveries? alchemy had said that there were many other trans people in the troupe– i know ESO was probably a bit hesitant to put MORE trans people in as to not upset the ~anti-SJW~ crowd and also just respect to each member’s individual identity and choices but… ahh. my trans heart is curious. who are they? at least one…..
also side-note i know summerset is really just utterly FUCKED in the 4th era but….. in the 0.00001% chance that tes6 is summerset (it’s… it’s not i can tell you that much but hgfdhgfhgudfgh maybe we’ll get a DLC to auridon or something i don’t fucking know) we BETTER get the house of reveries in some form. just SOME theatrical group, i’m begging you, bethesda.
maybe by that point it’s less openand more uppity (not in terms of trans characters, the thalmor are shit but they have no reason to be against trans people so i don’t want to hear anything about that, ever. what we already know is enough.) but come on, there has to be something.
unless by that time summerset is truly just sucked of all true joy and happiness lmao

sometimes people make these big long posts complaining about bioware and i’m like. sigh. there’s so many times that i never say anything cause i’m not trying to get involved in fandom drama but like oh my god
salt beneath the cut?
bioware should not be forced to only make the kinds of games you like. so historically they made some games you love, ok, cool. i don’t know why you all think that a company trying new things and experimenting and trying to push the boundaries of what their games should be is such a terrible horrible no good dirty-rotten thing. innovation is great. experimenting is good. bioware is not betraying you for trying to incorporate different ideas into their games like?? not everything is going to work out to your satisfaction but that doesn’t mean they should remain stagnant and only ever do the same thing. why not see if they can incorporate a big explorable world into a game with a really structured and nuanced story, as they tried to do with inquisition? it may not have worked out perfectly but now they have a better base on which to build their next game (which, if it can strike a balance between dao/dai, would be amazing, btw). and if you’re really upset that there’s a big world in inquisition and that offends you, just don’t buy the game. like. bioware going, “hey look there’s a huge world to explore!” and you paying money for the game and then going “but why is there a huge world to explore???? #betrayed” is like.... can’t wrap my head around that one. you paid for the game they made you, not 8000 years of their lives, the entire future of the company and right for every subsequent game to be made exactly as you like it, and their first borns.
(the contract is only for the first borns)
2: video games aren’t books, especially not a huge game like inquisition. it’s not “bad writing” for every small detail or character quirk to not be expounded upon super obviously all the time -- that’s hard to do in a video game with a huge ensemble cast and epic fantasy plot. like don’t get me wrong i think there were plenty of things in dai that could have been executed a lot better but y’all were the ones who wanted a big cast of characters to be so developed, but now you’re actually complaining because they developed them really well? if you wish you could have had more engagement with the characters over smaller facets of their personality/beliefs, that’s not a problem with the writing, that’s a disagreement with the game’s focus on conversation and character vs the rest of the game. like i too would have preferred more conversation and to call characters out more on things, 100%, but to just disagree with the way something was executed and then slap a “bad writing” on it is just like... not what that actually is
which i know is stupid of me to make a post about how some otherwise-valid criticisms of the game isn’t actually about That Thing They’re Saying It’s About, like, ok katie who cares, but people are so smug about the “bad writing” in inquisition it’s hard not for me to roll my eyes really hard when literally everything is equated to bad writing and not actually dissected and discussed for what it is and how it could actually be improved
(that’s not to say that there weren’t aspects of the game that were poorly written cause there totally were, but being upset about the lack of conversation options FOR your extra conversation options [when you already had sooooooo mannnyyyyyyy long talks with your companions, which the devs added specifically because fans loved them and wanted them to return with a vengeance post-da2-no conversations whatsoever] is like... extra. like ppl really be complaining about the inability to have conversations about the companion’s extra extra side dialogue options. we were lucky to get that in the first place lmao! don’t get me wrong i want more of them too and i don’t disagree that i want to be able to comment on all of those things, but it’s not “bad writing” but more a lack of resources to just give you unlimited discussions with the companions. they respected their fans and listened to us and put in a ton of effort to making sure in DAI we got to talk with our companions a ton, waaaay more than in previous games (even dao, and with a bigger cast of characters!), so it’s just so bizarre to ppl saying it’s “bad writing” that you can’t talk to these characters literally about everything they say all the time, that every single thread and facet to their development isn’t able to be discussed. it’s a video game, not real life, and conversations have to stop somewhere. and they gave us so much! should they have just left those details of the character out completely then, if you can’t completely and fully turn over and call out everything they say? obviously not. i agree with what yall are saying about those conversations could have been better, of course!! but i feel like it’s more about resources than like... bad writing
(of course in da4 i still want even mOAR conversations and also a “BS BUTTON” would be great)
(it’s just not necessarily “bad writing”)
(also that said sera’s arc was poorly written but that’s another story)
(anyway i’m not saying every single thing someone complains about isn’t Valid(TM) because so much of it is great criticism, but rather that some of the arguments i’ve seen over and over and over and over and over on my dash are like..... not really.... accurate
and there are just so many people in the fandom are so smug and condescending and seem like they enjoy criticizing games for the stupidest reasons like it makes them smarter and more Enlightened like they need to chill
(also i’m aware i’m asking ppl to chill by writing a really long salty personal post that’s gonna lose me 150 followers so obviously i also have lost my chill but come on yall omg please stop whining over inquisitions “bad writing” that isn’t bad writing just maybe something you didn’t like (like the explorable areas) and how bioware obviously is betraying you, its lord and master, for trying to incorporate different elements into their games or explore new genres like anthem u know how ridiculous it sounds right)
(that said fuck bioware, just for other reasons lmao)
honestly i’m writing this and kind of disagreeing with myself cause i’m like “but there’s so much bad writing” and there totally fuckin is but that’s not the specific thing i’m trying to talk about so...  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
why am i defending it then?? also good question but here we are

LMAO anon, stealing the glory. i already answered 4, 6, 12 and 13. so i guess i’ll fill in the rest. lol. ill put them under a cut bc i dont wanna clog up yalls dashes ;)
1. How did you learn to edit pictures?
hmmmm. mostly by reading about other peoples processes, watching speed edits, etc. then once i got photoshop, and took my class on it in uni, i started playing around with stuff myself and experimenting. still a WIP lol.
2. Whats your aesthetic in your opinion?
man, i feel like i don’t have one lol. oh well!
3. Who are your inspirations when it comes to editing?
pretty much everyone i follow :D similar to my inspiration for writing, anytime something catches my eye that someone does, i take note :)
5. Who is your least favourite character you’ve made?
ooooooh. hm. either steven or peter lol. steven was significantly more useless of a character. i bet like 90% of people don’t even know who he is LOL. i put him in the story for a certain reason, but then never did that plot idea, but he kinda stuck around for a bit lol idk.
7. What causes you to feel uninspired?
being busy. :( or if i run into a road block with my plot. but mostly just not having enough time to work on it. i 100% love my story, and i never just completely DONT want to write it lol.
8. Is there anything you look for when browsing for simblr stories to read?
there is actually a lot i look for LOL. i still follow lots of people who dont do all these things, but if i find one that does, you’re def getting a follow :D i typically look for story-based stuff, with a decent amount of writing thats not too short or too long, decent editing/photos, and anything that’s really different from what i’ve already seen! stories of different genres, etc. :) and i looove really cinematic style posting, as well.
9. Do you have any storytelling pet peeves?
for myself or others? i hate plot holes, obviously lol. this goes for myself and others. more so for myself tho, tbh. im more forgiving for other people, hah! and relying on cliches. bad character development.
10. Who are your five favourite characters and why?
Elliot, Clementine, Sonia, Violet and Levi :) they’re MY MAINS
11. What do you do really well (storytelling wise)?
i have been told i write really realistic dialogue, and that i have really good character development! :) i tend to agree with both of those. my stories are very character driven, and i try my best to make them feel super real and believable.
14. Do you have a dark or more light-hearted writing style in your opinion?
i think i tend to darker writing? my writing itself is light i think. but the topics i write about tend to be more emotionally driven. i have some plans to play around with some darker story lines in the future, both with my legacy and area 27, so we’ll see how that one goes.
15. Are there any topics you’d like to write about in the future?
yes so many!!! like so many. i want to do another history challenge one day, bc i always have the best historical plots. or just a historical short story in general. i want to venture more into the pseudo-post-apocalyptic theme with area 27. and i want to touch on more issues in life besides just romantic drama, which is what i have mostly covered so far in my legacy, i p much wanna be old school degrassi??? “it goes there”. lmao.
thanks so much anon :D i loved answering these
