I think it would be really funny if the team gets so sick of Keith and Lance's constant bickering that Allura implements a rule where if they want to fight with each other then they have to leave and go do it in a specific room in the castle that was designated for it so no one else has to listen to them

Lance: I would have had that shot if Keith hadn't tripped me

Keith: I didn't trip you, you backed up into me because you werent paying attention -

I know everyone writes Lance to be the one crushing during the Garrison

All of this yes, but also, on that last point--

Lance has THREE Bayard forms. Not two. People mostly talk about sword and gun. But he has two guns.

Using a pistol/blaster requires different skills than using a long-range sniper with a scope.

With the blaster, he has to aim without scope, keep his hands INCREDIBLY steady, and have strong, flexible wrists. He has to think fast, and pull the trigger faster.

The scoped rifle means he has to use the scope. Adjust the scope. Accommodate for extra distance between him and his target. The rifle also means he needs more strength in his shoulders, rather than wrists.

And yeah, I've been saying shoulderS and wristS because he also shoots both left and right at various points. Which means he had to know how to shoot multiple types of guns (skills are not immediately transferable) AND be able to do it with both hands, adjust his stance in his legs and hips, angle his body differently, and alternate focus in each eye.

Lance is GREAT with guns for a 17 year old with no military training (if the garrison gave combat training we would've been told that). I've always headcanoned that he learned from an older family member (likely male, likely military. Gun laws in Cuba are a thing). Is he always the perfect sharpshooter? No. But even before he unlocks the sword, Lance's versatility is on full display, as well as his quick thinking, instincts, incredible vision, and experience with firearms. Shooting a gun is NOT as simple as just pulling the trigger, and since there is no episode of Lance accidentally breaking his wrist, he def knows what he's doing.

Also, adjacent headcanon, Lance is a gun nerd. He knows all the names for all the guns he can use, and all the parts. He knows how to clean the gun, how to store it, how to avoid accidents. He does not want anyone to know this about him, so he acts like he just magically knows how to shoot perfectly.

And then he learns a little about swords, and pretends he doesn't find them interesting because he refuses to be THAT guy. (Keith.)

I love headcanons where Lance’s silly-seeming-isms are actually being taken out of context and are actually meaningful and unrecognized forms of intelligence.

Examples:

Found a cow in space and took responsibility for it without earth-resources, demonstrating animal husbandry skills and potentially some veterinary know-how.

Calling Keith ‘Samurai’ actually demonstrating a deep understanding of Bushido and its applicability to Keith’s character and values.

His shocked reaction to Pidge’s “coming out” demonstrating a recognition of and ingrained respect for chosen-identities. He believed Pidge instead of trying to clock their gender which was obviously meant to be at least ambiguous.

Bringing Hunk into adventures and putting up a front of excessive confidence in his own ability to counter-balance Hunk’s anxieties.

Pestering Keith as a way to bring him into the fold via his only proven form of interpersonal engagement: conflict, allowing him space to be immature and playful.

His ability to adjust to different weapon forms fluently. Shooting accurately obviously requires very different physical skills than sword fighting.

I need to say it because the amount of klance things I've been seeing is not normal.

Lance was wronged and so was Keith, but with Lance it is so revolting.

That boy wanted to be a pilot, to be the best at what he was good, and you're gonna tell me he quit ALL his dreams when his girlfriend of 2-3 days dies.

Okay, blame it on PTSD, blame it on him carrying her mission forward. Still, those are not enough to convince me that ending wasn't garbage.

A farmer. They turned this pilot, sharpshooter, sassy guy into a farmer, for no reason whatsoever. It is infuriating!

They never tried to hide that Shiro and Keith were their protagonists. The interesting arcs, the big developments, the cool fights and even the back from the dead all all theirs, but come on man, this is not power rangers.

You sell this idea of 5 cool pilot fighters, a princess and a mustache, and one of the fighters has less memorable moments than the mice.

And don't even get me started on the queerbaiting. What was the ducking point of putting those long talks between Keith and Lance, those sentimental for eyes between them, just to throw it out and put Allura there.

Don't get me wrong here, I love Allura, but we all know what they did to her was horrible, and in real life, she would be using Lance to get over Lotor, because Lance was comfortable and that boy was too good to hurt a girl's feelings.

I hate what dw did, but I love the fandom for keeping our delusion and coping together
