Hey, have you heard/seen that Georgia has deactivated her X/Twitter?
Tumblr media
(Grouping these Asks together for ease of answering.)
Hi there! Yes, I have heard and seen that Georgia has deactivated her Twitter page. For those who may have missed out on what happened yesterday and today that lead to this, you can read the whole backstory in @thetardisisblueandroseistoo's post and my reblog here.
I think this entire situation is a mess, and that no one on either side handled themselves particularly well. The attacks on Georgia were and are overblown and do nothing to help innocent victims of war, but at the same time, the counter-response of hyper-praising Georgia and saying how "amazing" she is entirely overlooks and ignores her own problematic behavior.
As I mentioned in my other post, this is not the first time Georgia has searched her or David's names, passive-aggressively replied to a tweet from a fan in which she was not tagged, and subsequently sent her followers after the OP to subject them to harassment and death threats. And it incenses me that there were about a hundred reasons to call Georgia out before now for things having nothing to do with this situation--including when she drive-by commented on another fan's tweet two years ago--but people only suddenly care because it's something that affects them. (Which, ironically, is the same thing these fans are accusing Georgia of when it comes to her own social activism/LGBTQ+ issues.)
What a lot of fans ultimately seem to want to ignore is that Georgia started this by picking a fight, and I can think of few things cringier than a grown woman fighting online with a 16-year-old. I know folks will say "That teenager was talking shit and calling Georgia a Zionist and she was correcting their lies." The problem, however, is the way she went about doing it:
Tumblr media
Georgia left this comment up for an entire day before responding, likely under the assumption that her trademark snark on a random fan's tweet would earn her praise and adulation, as has happened so frequently in the past. It was only 24 hours later, when it became very apparent that this was not the case, that she chose to add the additional comments and continue digging a rather massive hole for herself.
That said, the subsequent response to her new comments today proved another source of frustration, as I witnessed multiple fans chastise Georgia for not making a stronger statement, fans saying things like "Just say you want a ceasefire, that's all you have to do!" Yet Michael said exactly this back in October, and he was ripped apart for it. What I seem to keep seeing over and over again is a willingness to forgive and defend Georgia because she is a woman and young, and a willingness to spit on and denigrate Michael because he is a middle-aged man. And what no one seems to get is that neither one of these are good, but instead dehumanize Georgia and Michael from both directions.
To your comments, @hunterofartemisblog, I agree that this entire Twitter feud is pointless and a witch hunt. It is the apex of parasocial relationships for these fans to make demands on celebrities they don't know and cast aspersions on their character when said celebrities don't "perform" perfectly to these fans' expectations.
Equally as troubling, however, is what I am seeing now, which is fans acting as if Georgia can do no wrong, and even calling her a "saint." I really do not understand why it is so difficult to treat Georgia and Michael as normal, flawed human persons. Attacking and tearing down Michael only seems to serve to obscure the good he has done (having more than proven his commitment to activism as a UNICEF UK ambassador and working with victims of war in multiple countries), and deifying and excessively praising Georgia only obscures the problematic things she has done and continues to do to fans while shielding herself from any accountability.
Most importantly (and what seems to have fallen by the wayside in all of this), fans engaging in the above behavior does absolutely nothing to help those who are suffering, and instead serves to bolster these fans' assertions that they are doing something "good." I'm left wondering, then, what people think Georgia deactivating her Twitter accomplished. Or in what way two sets of bullies trying to "own" each other did one single thing to help refugees, or displaced persons, or those without access to basic necessities. Because it did nothing. It accomplished nothing, except to prove that neither side can handle one ounce of criticism and will never be willing to listen to each other.
Maybe that's exactly what the people in power want: Performative outrage. Misdirection. Giving vulnerable and emotional young people someone around them to attack and blame, instead of looking at the actions of those above. And maybe these fans played right into it, to the point where some of them are even bragging about getting Georgia to deactivate.
As I said in my previous post, I don't know what the answer is. I am the last person in the world to defend Georgia--and I do not think it speaks highly to her character that the first time she ever faced any controversy and not being worshiped by fans, she turned tail and ran. But I also think that whatever cause these fans started out supporting has become an excuse to hate on Georgia and Michael, and a shield behind which to hide because these fans are so afraid of being hated on themselves.
Earlier this evening, I saw someone say that Georgia only appears supportive because she is afraid of being called unsupportive, but the same seems to be just as true of these fans. I think it would be insanely helpful, then, if everyone involved in this stopped caring so much about appearances and started caring more about honesty. Honestly about the people we admire, and about ourselves. Maybe then we might finally start to get somewhere...

I see a lot of examination and discussion of how Shen Jiu had the setting/backstory of a protagonist, could've been a protagonist if not for a twist of fate, and in a way his shape is still a protagonist when SY literally piloted his body- but not. (I think we all get hung up a lot bcs he didn't become protag like he deserves but he also didn't become a full on villain, who's still a protag of his own story, but just a scum villain because of the misunderstanding, somewhere along the way something happened and held him back in that in-between place, unable to tip over completely one way or another.)
It's often brought up that he's undergone his own blackening into a scum villain and I think about that a lot, but you know, his settings never actually trailed off too far from the protagonist setting, with the 'from the lowest to the highest' template- idk if that makes sense, but anyways, I of course have read more than my fair share of fix-its, but often, if not always, it's a time travel scenario.
But WHAT IF:
But what if Shen Jiu, rather than swallowing the shards of Xuan Su, uses it to cut himself free of the immortal binding ropes or whatever is stopping his qi. Which is not LBH's parasite blood I don't think they have that ability but whatever. I mean, you'd ask how would he, without arms and legs, escape? A nifty thing we're all familiar with called author's will.
A time when LBH is away to deal with one thing or another, and SJ, after years of lifeless staring, and even more lifeless staring in the aftermath of YQY's death, moves. The thing about not attempting to escape for a long, long time, is that people lower their guards and grows complacent, and it's not as if there's anyone checking up on him to see if he's eating meals or whatever, LBH is more than happy to get suggestions from his wives for torture ideas but was very controlling of who gets to inflict it (Xuan Su was just left there and he did manage to swallow it). So Shen Jiu, with only Xuan Su's blade and it's inherent property as a spirit sword, not even an active one which means on one hand there's no active qi in it but the latent one from its materials, and on the other hand it's not bound to anyone and was more malleable, whatever. ANYWAYS. Skip.
Shen Jiu knowing of one thing or another, or several things that's a combination of common healing theory, rarer healing practices, less than righteous surgery techniques, equals bastardized body repair and ends with him frankensteining himself with some shaky qi threads. The needle is a piece of Xuan Su. He doesn't blink bcs his pain receptors are no more.
Scenario A.) I want SJ to play the 'mysterious wandering protag with a mysterious dark past and a mission for vengeance', only wanting to kill LBH before planning to retire from existance himself and he goes with his cool and angsty scarred body that he'd DIY'ed. The blood parasites are solved by something ruthlessly self-destructive only someone with SJ's coldness and lack of actual desire to continue breathing would do without even some initial testing. This would be done quick and dirty to keep LBH from teacking him. OR/AND
Scenario B.) I say or-slash-and because the scenario A could be cut off or maybe they could be combined. The handy dandy sun and moon dew!!! Plant it, grow it, kill himself, and recover his full potential all those years ago! Of course this would take quite a while, so he might need scenario A anyways. And conveniently enough, it puts him in the path of....... dun dun dun ZUZHI-LANG!!! And TLJ by proxy. Allies get! Maybe! Because TLJ wants to kill the sects, right? But his son did it here for him, so maybe he wouldn't bother anymore. Or maybe it's not enough bcs he hadn't killed all of everyone, so let daddy fix that right up. Or/and, LBH feels threatened and threatens in proper blackened protg manner and TLJ threatens back and flat out stomps him.
So. Maybe!
To expand on the rest of the Jianghu, the other 4 Peak Lords we know are alive, SQH, QQQ, WQW, and MQF. Bcs we don't have definite details on the timeline of PIDW, we can conveniently fill in space, put a lot of cause and effect, the cultivator world is in an uproar by the reveal that LBH is a demon (it's not as if they were okay with that, duh, if they'd known he was a demon, SJ's actions would've been treated as the only logical thing to do) and YQY is dead, AND SQH is a traitor, so that's down two - or rather three with SQQ- influential people, two of which were heavily involved in how everything is run (SQQ, while not actually lazy in his cultivation, was indeed lazy and unmotivated in most tasks that involved coordinating with others).
I really don't think SJ would feel even a little bit betrayed by SQH. To be betrayed you have to trust first, and his whole thing was that he never trusted anyone from CQMS. For SJ, SQH didn't betray them so much as his loyalty just belonged to another. Still would kill the rat next time he sees him tho (spoiler alert, he doesn't, kill him that is, but he does see him eventually).
So, I'm of the belief that Airplane's drafts included the Peak Lords as big boss too, where TLJ is the big boss of the demonic realm, they're the ones for the cultivation world, and my headcanon is that they were purposely met with sudden deaths one way or another in PIDW, and none actually died in a straight up fight, which is on brand with LQG's deviation, SQQ's trial, and YQY's thousand arrows (that I say are one of those bullshit golden finger artifacts of PIDW, maybe something like 'heavenly damned arrows of a thousand rays' that always flies true to it's target and could seal rare level pokemon rip-offs beasts for every single one. No reason that they would be normal p arrows, really). SQH might have fought or just been completely taken off guard by his lord killing him out of the blue with no chance to wriggle out. But Like QQQ was backstabbed. WQW was poisoned. MQF sacrificed himself for a beloved disciple (and that's why WQW died because he set out to find his martial brother but didn't know he'd already died. Awww).
(connected to another headcanon, the other five unnamed Peak Lords died long ago in the first battle against TLJ when he was sealed)
These people were meant to be a team. Or at least a set.
So SJ goes on an epic quest of getting power to kill his Qi-ge's killer via sun and moon dew possibly while he gets his tactician brain creating up something to kill LBH (OP characters are not killed in straight up fights, as we've learned, they're tricked or betrayed) and accidentally finding and gathering his siblings who, at that point, happen to have become guardians of havens and refuge communities in pockets of the world that holds the remnants of cultivator and human realm, where the demonic forces have spread far and wide in every realm. It's initially written to later, eventually be conquered by LBH. For example there's a hidden cave passage that leads you to Mu Qingfang's hidey hole, a pocket dimension with much rural fantasy aesthetic, housing parients and normal mortals with farms and houses woven to giant trees. Wei Qingwei is found underground creating weapons and defenses day in and day out to source to QQQ and MQF. Qi Qingqi with her armies always on the move, squads spread out in the realms, resisting against the demonic forces, helping Mu Qingfang rescue stragglers, from her old fairycore ensemble shifting to dragoncore, rarely resting with her inedia in the hollow of a mountain.
(xianxia aesthetic, whimsical aesthetic, aesthetic aesthetic aesthetic!!!!!!!!).
They..... Well. It's an awkward reunion.
SJ was shocked to meet the first lord sibling he'd seen since his imprisonment, shown only by a slight widened eyes, but emotions quickly gone. His first words is, "Do you wnat to kill the beast?"
He didn't care about the answer, if they said yes, then alright, if they said no, then he'd just walk away.
They say yes. Every one.
So, the rest really depends on how you interpret his relationship with them before the trial.
A). Was it a case of it's exactly what it looked like and they oh so very righteously hated him and he hated them back, a bunch of misunderstandings and not-so misunderstandings building up?
B). Did they have mutual respect and mutual awareness that everyone in the room they hold their PL meetings in were assholes of different flavors? Did they expect Shen Jiu to save himself in the trials, was dissapointed when he didn't but since he didn't give any indication of wanting to be saved, shrugged their shoulders and left him to his life, as they have always poked and snided at each other but always kept away from actually interfering with their lives (no matter how evil they thought the others were, because they may be evil, but they were still siblings and that just meant they had evil martial siblings. Love morally dubious group of PL but still ride and die)?
C). Or maybe they actually had a good relationship consisting of a lot of sharp teasing and reckless verbal and physical lashing and tantrums that you can really only get away with to your siblings, but was twisted by outside perpective?
And, on the way, maybe he learns to form relationships properly, with people that he loved nothing like the all-consuming soul twisting and mutually hurtful and destructive way he dedicated everything to Yue Qingyuan (from his loyalty to his shrivelled love and every hurtful words).
Just. Friends. Family. Siblings.
Imagine SJ eventually wandering off, with a burnt down Peak that would never again beholden him to promises, broken and otherwise. Grieving, yes, but somehow at peace than he'd ever been in. A very long time?
Ming Fan, who'd perhaps been in Qi Qingqi's Fairy Haven (of course that's the name, we've got a theme people) that was the group that consisted of people that bayed for the Emperor's blood or just the more active cultivators (with GYX mayhaps), a loyal disciple reunited with his Shizun. Or mayne he'd been the one to have found SJ as a human stick and helped him get spare body parts.
I imagine in this world, once Luo Binghe is... out of the picture, one way or another, busy dying or busy having an appropriately dramatic amnesia arc for him to develop character development, NYY takes over as the Empress, with her court of demoness and humans, and Harems becomes synonymous to Council. LMY her right hand helping keep everyone in line, who are also partially managed by SHL, who weighted her options and pros and cons and found establishing her position as left hand pretty good for now. The rest can come later. Imagine NYY growing up, not in brute strength bcs that wasn't how she was taught, nor is it her strength, but perhaps in a way that SJ would idly wonder if perhaps he should've endorsed her to Qiong Ding. Not all harem members stay of course, and some had to die. Ning YingYing becomes the First Empress of the age of peace in the unified two realms and first order of business is secure her influence. Second is ban slaves. Third is to encourage a tentative cooperation between humans and demons.
(Additional note: LBH having a protagonist halo doesn't make him unkillable, the death just has to meet several requirements, like being suitably glorious and impactful, and also maybe tragic- ehem killed by his own father or shizun, and seeing his washerwoman mother at his last moments. The protagonist is just another tool to set up the story and evidently, genre change is not impossible.)
(I imagine a confrontation between SJ and LMY early on that goes along the lines of SJ saying, "Wouldn't you know better than most, the thirst for vengeance for a brother's death?)
What if SJ's fix-it comes after PIDW, you know. PIDW being his tragic backstory. A slave who climbed so high despite the past clinging heavy on his shoulders, and then falling down lower than he'd ever been and resolving his issues and then climbing back even higher with more stable footing.
Qiu Haitang, Yue Qingyuan, Liu Qingge, their Five Unnamed Martial Siblings, Luo Binghe- regrets, and triumphs, all part of his story to mull over whenever he reaches the top of random hills and sets out his tea set. It's a bittersweet plot I like thinking about.

#tristampparty day 4, episode 4: hungry!
HAPPY WOLFWOOD WEDNESDAY AND DAY 4 OF @tristampparty!! i've watched this episode at least half a dozen times so... LET'S GOOOOO
Tumblr media
it's been pointed out a million times already but lol lmao even. i want to eat rocks.
this is more subtle if you dont know japanese but wolfwood being introduced in episode 4 is also a death flag. did they plan it this way on purpose. (4=shi=death)
also the radio dj for this episode is masaya onosaka again!
Tumblr media
it just breaks my heart, man. god when i read volume 7 and realized that's where orange got this from. man. man.
wolfwood getting hit by the truck is funny i'm sorry.
okay i'm kind of confused actually about what the plan was here... like we know that wolfwood was sent to be vash's guide, but him getting hit by the truck was OBVIOUSLY NOT PLANNED so the group finding zazie at the fuel station wasn't planned either. like. based on what zazie says later in the episode, they were "helping" wolfwood gain vash's trust by creating an enemy for them to face together. so did zazie just do all of this on the fly? should i just assume that zazie knows everything that's going on all the time? did they see what was going on from the worm cloud above that we see at the start of the episode? even though those worms were just... microbial? so they determined which fuel station the truck was going to stop at and killed the people there and disguised themself... that must have been what happened, right?
Tumblr media
and what's with this. there was a post i saw a while ago where op said they don't like how orange adapted this scene. because the context is changed. because zazie and wolfwood are working together so instead of this being an act of genuine kindness wolfwood is just... acting i guess. but i don't know. does wolfwood even know this is zazie at this point. maybe he's stupid idk KLJDSFKLSDFJ or is it that he can't help himself because zazie LOOKS like a child?? I REALLY DON'T KNOW WHAT TO MAKE OF THIS SCENE NOW.
Tumblr media
this is clearly an act though i mean unless orange has some insane as-yet-unseen backstory for zazie, these aren't genuine tears
Tumblr media
it's so funny how vash gives roberto the bill like this. like, "daaaad..."
Tumblr media
so he says, with zazie at the center of the composition.
Tumblr media
they tried to spike him up a little bit, but no matter how you look at him, i don't think he's worthy of the title of needle-noggin. this is just wolfwood subconsciously remembering what he called vash in previous timelines (<- JOKE)
Tumblr media
i wonder about this. the only "human" who can control worms is zazie. humans, plural, though? how many human disguises has zazie taken on over the years?
Tumblr media
wolfwood has given negative reasons for vash to trust him. this is just vash subconsciously remembering his relationship with wolfwood in previous timelines (<- JOKE)
vash's little sneeze after him and wolfwood get sneezed out of the worm is sooooo cute
Tumblr media
they're just lying out their ass they're fully aware that vash is a plant
ehhh i've said this before but i don't like how orange adapted zazie... they're very different from their manga counterpart. they're one of the most changed characters i think. i don't like their design that much either... the half-pants... idk... i like the bug mask at least...? i like that there's some insect-like design elements but... eh...
Tumblr media
honestly shout out to these guys. the real stars of this episode fr
interesting how roberto is the one who distrusted wolfwood the most but doesn't actually oppose wolfwood going with them...? meryl is the one most opposed...
Tumblr media
I'VE WATCHED THIS EPISODE SO MANY TIMES AND I STILL DON'T UNDERSTAND WHAT ZAZIE MEANS HERE. WHAT DO YOU MEAN KILLING FRIENDS. WOLFWOOD DOESN'T DO THAT. HE HAS NEVER DONE THAT.
Tumblr media
what moment does he mean. talking about his gate so does he mean in episode 3? from when... right before he shot his gun at knives, maybe? there was a weird aura... i thought it was because of what knives did to vash's gun but... uhhh.... uhhhhhhhhhhhhh (steam comes out of my ears from thinking too hard)
Tumblr media
uhhhh. this is ninelives. there's more than one of him. is this how they adapted ninelives... instead of being piloted by nine guys there are nine... of him... like... nine big guys... nine robots(?)...????
Tumblr media
haha. yeah. and knives hates that. :')
that ends episode 4... we're really getting into it now...

First Lines Meme
Rules: List the first line of your last 10 (posted) fics and see if there's a pattern!
Tagged by @lokiinmediasideblog
I have provided brief commentary on each of these, to share my wisdom and because I was bit bored.
Thor’s favourite thing of all, if he had to commit to a single choice, is sparring with his brother. (The Marriage Game, mostly-gen Thor thing) This isn't a very exciting first line, I admit. Oh well, there are plenty more after it as this fic is 5000 words long.
2. Sylvie never hesitates to hurt him, whether he has asked her to or not. But when he asks… oh, she revels in it then. (everybody's looking for something, the one where sylvie beats loki with a stick) I think this is quite a good opening line. It reassures the reader who decided to read Loki being beaten with a stick that, yes, the hot stick-on-Loki action is definitely here, the tags didn't lie.
3. The sounds of celebration are more than enough to cover footsteps, but Sif is always alert and difficult to sneak up on, so the touch on her shoulder is no great shock to her. (Out of Sight, sifki porn with angst in) This is an okay line, if I remember right the opening few lines were the last to be written, because I'd started with the (*ahem*) main thrust of the plot and then had to go back and get them close to each other so they could do that thrusting (and angsting).
4. His brother’s funeral has not yet taken place and already he is betrothed to the killer. (The Winter Of Our Discontent, ongoing Sylki Arranged Marriage AU) This is a fantastic first line, well done me! There's a death and a marriage on the first line! The reader can see at once why it's tagged as 'Enemies to Lovers'! It has the word 'betrothed' in it, so you know this is gonna be A Bit Faux-Historical! Oh, how concise I was!
5. This part of the story isn’t true: Loki runs after the variant – the other Loki – and he runs through the time-door just before it closes, and finds himself in another apocalypse. (In My Head I Do Everything Right, Loki series AU where everything is more horrible.) Also good - it establishes that some of the story is less true than other parts, and intrigues the reader by telling them that what they saw happen didn't happen in this version. Bold. Unusual. Exciting!
6. The other Loki finishes his drink and then finishes his story; “So while I was freed from fulfilling a few of my less well-intentioned promises, I was also trapped – I could hardly go home, could I, after all of that? So I stayed in New York and built this little empire instead.” (Match Three, Loki/Loki/Sylvie porn) Bit infodumpy and not remotely pornographic, two potentially serious flaws when the reader is in search of filth. But consider; I dealt with the backstory of this extra Loki in the first line and now we can just move the fuck on to them all fucking without much more preamble.
7. One thing Sylvie wasn’t expecting was for already-broken timelines to heal, and for those that were lost (more accurately murdered) long ago to reassert themselves somehow, and to push their way back into the ever-expanding multiverse. (one (1) returned item, practically gift-wrapped, double drabble) Not a bad attempt to explain what's going on in a story with a very limited wordcount, I feel. That limited wordcount was also strict, which will have affected the word choice here. (I can't remember any details though.)
8. Disconcertingly, River Song doesn’t play by the Doctor’s rules. (Foreshadowing, look everyone it's River Song!) Another short and strict wordcount, not a bad opening line all things considered.
9. With the clearer vision of hindsight, Thor reckons that the hammer might have been the thing that made his brother start to stumble. (Loophole, thorki fic about the perils of excessive pedantry) Oh, a flashback! Why would someone stumble with a hammer? Did he trip over it? You must read on to unravel the mystery! Therefore, a good opening line.
10. “So why haven’t you two fucked yet?” asks the Grandmaster, seemingly out of nowhere. (Love Is A Danger Of A Different Kind, sylki-on-sakaar horrible dubcon-frostmaster thing) Excellent first line, defines the existing relationship boundaries and contains a single shocking swear in a line that breaks all the usual rules of politeness. A wild and very awkward ride lies ahead, it seems to say. I'd keep reading this fic for sure!
I will now tag everyone on tumblr.

New post!!
Sorry for not posting for some time :[ I don’t draw RDR fanart very often, and I realized that posting my own OC’s doesn’t get as much attention as my RDR fanart. It made me very sad because I draw my own characters a LOOT and love to share about them! Maybe one day I’ll be able to get them to get as much attention in here haha.
Anyway, these are some doodles I drew on magma from a little while ago :D
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And Alsoo…
I wanted to add that I DO have RDR OC’s!!!!
These two are siblings; their names are Ajei (26) and Xochitl (19) Narváez. A bit of a backstory & character explanation;
Before they moved to the United States, Ajei and Xochitl lived in a pueblo back in Mexico. Their father, who left his reservation with reason to explore the world, met their mother, who was a nun at the church of the local pueblo he was staying in at the time.
The government wasn’t the best at providing for the people, especially the indigenous pueblos. In fact, wanted them gone. We all know the story and how it goes. Unfortunately, this family were also heavily affected by the wrongdoings of a corrupt governor, which caused the sickness and slow death of their dear pueblo. Not enough clean water, food, and resources. If the people in towns didn’t have it good, they sure had it worse.
Ajei started growing into the mindset of a rebel; taking away from the greedy government and give back to the people. At the age of 22, he decided to join the gang of the rebelling forces, which made him participate in the stealing and killing of the Mexican troops and their governors. Not long enough, he had gotten a bounty to his head, which also affected his alive family member; Xochitl. Ajei decided to take himself and Xochitl to the United States where they could hide low and get a proper life, since he could not be any safe in his own country. (They both were 23 & 16 at the time.)
Ajei and Xochitl didn’t really fall into a gang in the United States, but they had the knowledge of Dutch Van Der Linde, and deeply admired him. More specifically, Ajei did. Xochitl just viewed the man the same as she did to Ajei’s old leader; a man leading prideful people to their deaths just for his benefit. Whenever she mentioned it to Ajei, he’d just get upset and not listen to her for looking up to him.
They didn’t have it easy growing up, and to Xochitl, she thought Ajei didn’t learn to not trust so easily, even when a person has the same ideologies as him. In his defense, he felt sense of comfort when someone actually recognized how important his people are to him, and him wanting to search for safety in that is valid, but the boy thought more with his heart than with his brain.
The way they met Dutch…. or more accurately, one of his men, Arthur, was at Valentine. The siblings were just going to town for some of the necessities they needed at their shared home, and as they got separated, Xochitl had gotten snatched away and out of sight. As Ajei looks for her, he asks around the people if they have seen anything, including Arthur. (Arthur would have seen what happened before Ajei approached him.)
I just wanted to add this as a preference, a fictional side mission. Arthur would have the ability to either help Ajei search for his sister, or do nothing and let Ajei go on the search alone. (This would affect how Ajei thought of him in the future.) Either way, Ajei would have found Xochitl safe, but wound himself in the process.
I don’t think I want to bombard more with information about them, especially since anything after this information would contain spoilers of RDR2. I really do like these two though, I just have not drawn them enough, or like at all. I think I’ll make more content of them for Tumblr because my RDR content gets more views. IF YOU READ THIS, THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME!!
Small doodles of Ajei and Xochitl :3

I just realized that even though i see your art of him and you talk about him a lot, i don't actually know anything about aiden. so. infodump to me about your OC lore please.
!!!! hi <3 I have SO MUCH to say about Aiden- and yet I don't share that much about them! I draw them a lot but never give much context, my bad xP
I did answer an ask a while ago about them here if you want! it has all the basic infos you might need and I've just updated it a bit because some stuff was outdated and I wanted to add some details. I also think you can find (very) few things in the eryanwrites tag
But you're asking for infodumping so!!! Imma infodump MORE >:3c
(this is in addition to the post I linked- you might want to read said post before, to have more context)
⚙ Backstory stuff
Despite being born in Old Corona, Aiden spent half of their childhood in another village even farther away from the capital. This village is run by a small saporian community and was mostly filled with travelers so people tended to come and go, lots of witches came by looking to seal their power to pass as human. So Aiden and their parents were easily welcomed there.
When Aiden was a child, the local Grandma (Aiden never learnt her name- she was just referred by everyone as Grandma) used to play with Aiden's hair a lot while she told stories. Aiden avoided cutting their hair for her, and even after her death they still refused to cut it.
Said Grandma was the village's healer and quickly became Aiden's role model. She was the first person to mentor Aiden in their quest to become a physician.
Aiden's second mentor is the current royal physician, the only one who didn't leave when the Queen got sick and no one could find a cure. Both of Aiden's mentor were/are unhinged and definetly shouldn't be trusted to teach children but that's why I love them.
Aiden is very not normal about human bodies. Both because of autism and the way their mentors educated them about it. Aiden is pretty desentisized about stuff most people would find gross.
⚙ Aiden's relationship with other characters
Aiden has a pretty good relationship with their parents. They're very loving people but a tad overprotective, it kinda made Aiden avoid talking to them about big problems because he was scared to worry them more than necessary, but overall they all love and care for each others. Aiden is just terrible at understanding and communicating his own needs.
They have many friends within the castle since they've been working here for a while now. They're also known outside of the capital since his mentor sometimes send them away, either on errand or to take care of villages without doctors.
Aiden isn't close to the main cast of tts, beside Varian. He respects and admires most of them but he doesn't consider them friends since he never really got interested in getting closer to them. They do know they can count on him when any of them gets hurt or sick, it's his job after all.
Aiden has a bestie- his name is Daniel, he's the son of the merchants proccuring most herbs for the physicians, and is currently part of the royal guards. He isn't a very fun person but Aiden enjoys how down to earth he can be.
⚙ random stuff
During the series Aiden went through like... 4 different leg prosthesis in one year because people (bad guy of the season) kept on breaking it. (I'll admit it was my go-to excuse as to why Aiden doesn't appear in canon. They're always off screen doing random things or laying on the floor stuck somewhere 😔)
They're very sensitive to temperatures since the Storm that made them lose their leg.
Aiden's magic got sealed by a tattoo on their back when they were very young, so as they grew up the tattoo got deformed and the seal weakened. Their extended family is the ones completely getting rid of it- by removing part of the skin. Hopefully for Aiden he was under hypnosis when that happens and he has no memories of it whatsoever. Varian is the one who found out about it and it made him really mad.
So you know Venefica's magic is linked to mind control. And Aiden caught feelings for Varian long before he caught feelings for them himself. Varian is very obvious about his feelings, yet Aiden doesn't acknowledge it at all. That's because they're somehow convinced Varian's feelings aren't genuine and is caused by their own magic they never learnt to control.
I mentioned witches cannot break promises so they avoid doing any, since it can easily end badly for them. Aiden (so far) made 2 : one to Quirin and one to Donella. The first one lowkey resulted in the loss of their leg. The second brought distrust between them and Varian. So yeah. Promises bad.
The only reason Hugo is allowed to call them Hobble is because he helped a lot with their prosthesis and still does
⚙ shipping stuff
At this point if you don't know I ship Aiden with both Varian and Hugo then-.. Idk how you escaped all my posting about them but I admire that, this is impressive. Anyway-
I wanted to try doing an actual love triangle so when each of them catch feelings it starts with : Aiden -> Hugo ; Hugo -> Varian ; Varian -> Aiden. Then things just... happen and at some point they all have feelings for both of the other and they are struggling to figure out what to do about it.
The first two to get into a relationship are Aiden and Hugo, but it's not really romantic, they're just having fun. Hugo quickly understood Varian was the team leader but the boy kept Aiden in high regard, so getting Aiden on his side would eventually bring Varian to it too. Aiden is very aware of it and is fine with it as long as Hugo isn't actively trying to get them hurt.
I have.. the worst love triangle dynamic chart ever :
Tumblr media
I don't even know if its readable to others but oh well-
Anyway. I think that's enough! If any question rises I'll love to asnwer them! About Aiden or other ocs or timeline stuff- or aus- anything is fine

As one of the most Rose Wilson blogs (excellent taste) what r ur thoughts on the first issue of her Knight Terrors ?
my biggest thoughts on it are just that its not very interesting </3 there are a few things i dont like about it (the lack of lili 😔 but ill circle back to that in a sec) but overall ?? it just didnt really do a lot. theres not a lot to dislike but theres also not a lot to like
but i can excuse the fact that theres not a lot in it given that this is the first time rose is getting the spotlight in like 15 years so not a lot of people are gonna know anything about her backstory so they had to make it accessible to people that dont know her. and i get that
like batman's knight terrors tie-in could delve a lot deeper into his backstory and feelings bc. its batman. everyone knows batman. he has arguably the most famous backstory in western media. but not everyone knows ravager so they had to make it very new reader friendly and i understand that, especially since her biggest trauma (getting drugged by slade) isnt even canon right now (😔) and her other big trauma (her mom dying) is a little more complicated than the story they wanted to tell (mostly because. wade.)
but i wish they had gone a little deeper into like. her feelings. being trapped in a nightmare that you have to escape from is one of my favorite tropes ever so i was soooooooo excited when this book was announced, but it just,, didnt really do anything. there was so much that could've been done with rose protecting and subsequently being betrayed by her younger self, not to mention the whole idea of slade hunting her down. but they didnt really use it? i was hoping for more like,,,, character exploration. but it didnt really deliver
on the other hand though. this one was def trying to do more of a plot than some of the others. like for example the jason & tim one has the basic plot of "theyre in a nightmare" but other than that its really just being used as a way to make them go through their fears n give them some character exploration (side note i wish they had been given two separate ones but thats a whole other post) whereas the ravager one is talking about murder man using rose as a conduit and trying to get into the waking world and making it like. a story instead of just introspection. so it definitely felt like the first issue was setting a lot up for more that will (hopefully) happen in issue two.
anyways back to her mom. again part of the reason that it would be so hard to incorporate lili into the story is that the circumstances surrounding her death would mean reintroducing the story from 30 years ago where she died, which slade wasnt there for so they couldnt wring out her daddy issues, and the fact that its only brought up like. 3 times ever again after that make it hard to reference her. not to mention deathstroke 2016 sort of retconned it that slade murdered her ????? then that was also never brought up again. so once again i understand that it would be very complicated to bring her into the story, not to mention if she showed up she would show up just to die 3 seconds later so i cant be.. too mad.
HOWEVER. they taunted me by mentioning her one (1) time then bringing up the foster parents instead. it seems like it's sort of working toward bringing her pre-52 origin back. but the foster parents were the worst part of her pre 52 origin. and also as my roommate (who hasnt read a lot of rose) pointed out, the foster parents are a deep cut. they showed up for like 3 pages 20 years ago then died and were literally never brought up again (not even a passing mention) until now. and while the story doesnt hinge on knowing who they are, i feel like theres definitely a feeling that youre missing something when you dont know the parents. so the fact that they were there at all seems really weird to me given the fact that im trying to excuse the fact that lili wasnt there. idk. its just hard to understand why brisson chose to put them there instead of lili, who had a major impact on rose's life and her death is the whole reason rose even joined slade at all. at least to me, the fact that lili wasnt there was extremely noticeable and felt wrong (not to mention the "i grew up in a brothel not a foster home" line is kinda iffy to me but maybe im reading too much into it). im still hoping she'll show up in the second issue, especially since they did specifically mention her in the first issue so maybe thats setting her up to show up in nightmare form later (<-delusional)
ok i think thats all my thoughts for now. tldr: its fine, it doesnt have a lot necessarily with it given the fact that rose isnt a well known character so they couldnt dive too deep into her character, but i felt like it wasnt really trying to do anything and it wasnt interesting. the only real problem was the fact that her mom wasnt there. but mostly im willing to wait until the second half before im too harsh on the book

There's a montage of the rest of the crew playing it cool as news hits that the leader of the Thieves has been apprehended, and then further news breaks: he's committed suicide in custody.
And.... this was apparently part of the plan.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Contacting Sae via Reverie's phone, Futaba tells Sae that Reverie is about to be assassinated and she's the only one who can save him, so she has to go now.
As she walks down the hallway, there's a purple fizzle that indicates something is going on with the Metaverse, but at this point I didn't understand what the fuck was going on, so.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Okay. So. The game takes no joke about 20 minutes explaining what the fuck happened so I'm gonna try to sum up and see how I feel after.
The Palace never fell apart because Sae's Treasure was never stolen. There was never a change of heart instigated. The team had a dummy suitcase made and stashed to be the decoy.
(How'd they know it was a suitcase? Don't worry about it, handwave.)
A bunch more shadows appeared as well as real police because Akechi set things up for the Thieves to be apprehended after the Heist. He was willing to bring as many people as necessary into the Metaverse as needed to get the crew.
Reverie was always intended to be caught because the whole charade was intended to fake his death to get Akechi and the police off their backs for a bit. So Reverie was caught and hauled in and laid everything out for Sae. Instead of changing her heart manually, he was trying to change her heart the non-cheaty way, by making her see the truth.
Futaba had control of both Reverie and Akechi's phones and could thus track movement with each. When Akechi left Sae and went to kill Reverie, Futaba activated the MetaNav so Akechi would be in the Palace instead of the real world. When he walked into the room, killed a guard and then Reverie, that was a cognitive copy of Reverie in Sae's Palace. Boom, death faked.
Futaba reached out to Sae and implored her to save Reverie. Sae retrieved the real Reverie and got him to the cafe before anyone was the wiser.
/READS ALL THAT BACK
I think that sums it up and covers everything. There's a lot of little details involved like Reverie's cause of death was already signed by a coroner without the body even being examined because the government is so determined to put this case to bed. /waves hand
Tumblr media
The whole team was in on the plan after Morgana explained that Akechi was crooked. With his phone bugged, they now know the person masterminding all this is Shido, the bald dude running for Prime Minister who also got Reverie the trumped up assault charge in the backstory.
Tumblr media
I love you, Reverie Vantas the Fifth.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Meanwhile, Shido and Akechi are high fiving and poppin bottle over their victory, but this little moment really caught me. The closed eye smile of Fake Ass Bitchery is raising some questions with me. I don't think Akechi admires anyone, and his remark from a while ago, that his sense of justice was instilled by someone who disgusted him.... bells are ringing.
Tumblr media
INTERESTING TO NOTE: Akechi does not divulge what he wants here and shifts the subject instead.
Uh huh.
I think it'd be funny if Akechi wanted to kill Shido for some reason, manages to do so, and then dusts off his hands like, "Alright, cool, it's been real everyone. See you for billiards next weekend? Reverie, I'm still going to kill you one day. Laterz!"

As you were on your way to Takodana to retrieve BB-8, you and Poe were peacefully sitting in the cockpit together.
“How are you feeling?” you asked.
He turned to you while his head rested against the cushion, a lazy smile on his face, “Fantastic, do I not look fantastic?”
You laughed, “You always look fantastic.”
You could have sworn he had the slightest blush on his face, “Damn right I do.”
“How was Tekka by the way? Forgot to ask about that,” you mentioned.
“He seemed wise, I wanted to get him to join back up but... he’s dead,” he solemnly stated.
You nearly gasped, “Fuck... Kylo, wasn’t it?”
He nodded, “I tried to fight back but I was helpless. He completely froze the laser I shot at him and somehow... held me in place. I couldn’t move a single muscle except for my eyes,” he explained.
“He’s already mastered slow-” you whispered. “He is extremely powerful in the force. I could barely even get a read on him through it... he’s blocking me somehow.”
Poe turned back to you with curiosity, “You know what he did? Are you that powerful?”
You couldn’t help the grin that came across your face, “I could do that with my pinky.”
His eyes widened, “No shit?”
You laughed full body at that, much to Poe’s annoyance, “Sorry, sorry. To be honest, yes actually but at my current level I’m incapable of doing that with ease, though I can.”
“What do you mean your current level?” Poe hounded.
You sighed, wondering if you should tell him any more about your past than you already did a while ago, “I... my... power is so great that I feared that it would throw the galaxy into imbalance so I suppress my power in order to assimilate into the galaxy until the next nexus force event-”
Death
Your chest suddenly began to heave with your breaths as you clutched your chest in pain.
“Y/N? What’s going on?” Poe’s voice raised as he nearly got out of his seat to get closer to you.
“So- much... death-” you could barely get the words out of your mouth as your vision was swarmed with images of millions of people dying... entire planets falling in the wake of demise. “Poe, they’ve killed them all.”
“What do you mean? Y/N tell me what you’re feeling,” Poe gently laid his hand on your shoulder in an attempt to calm you down.
You gasped as you tried to catch your breath, “The First Order... the Republic is destroyed.”
Poe’s eyes widened as he doubled back, “What?”
“The entire system... it’s all gone,” you finished with a whisper as a tear slid down your cheek.
Poe’s eyes dropped as he reacted to the information you provided, “How is that possible...”
“It’s some kind of huge...” you tried to recall images of a ridiculously large planet size weapon... shooting a beam so large and bright it could rival the size of a planet. “Planet size weapon, it fired and it split into waves, targeting every planet in the system.”
“Oh fuck,” he muttered.
You wiped your tear and sniffled, straightening in your chair, “Leia?”
“I know, I heard, I just received word,” she promptly responded.
“We don’t have time to mourn, not just yet. This war is just beginning,” you said with determination.
Poe returned to his seat and nodded along with you, “That’s right. We need to get to BB-8 before the First Order does and find Luke.”
“You took the words right out of my mouth, Commander,” Leia replied.
Your navigation console beeped and signaled that you were almost at your destination, “Dropping out of hyperspace in 3... 2... 1... now!”
You came out, to immediately on the scanners pick up multiple First Order TIE fighter craft and shuttles, “We’ve got company.”
The rest of the resistance fighters dropped out of hyperspace along with you, “Welcome back force, Commander Poe.”
“Good to be back, Snap,” Poe responded.
You fitted into the formation of the other ships and began your descent towards the planet where the source of the transmission came from. As you broke the clouds, you came down to hover over the water.
“Alright ladies and gentlemen, let’s get this party started!” Poe yelled out.
You rushed back to the rear gunner position and let Poe pilot and use the front cannons.
“Ruie! Get on that turbolaser!” you called out as you ran past him.
He chirped in response and plugged in to begin using it. As you got to the rear gunner seat, the ship rocked heavily as you took a blast, launching you right into your seat. You took at the controls and immediately began targeting anyone in your range. As you flew by the stone structure, you noticed a bunch of people being held at gunpoint by storm troopers and aimed your lasers at the troopers around them, managing to hit all of the ones in their immediate vicinity.
“Nice shooting!” Poe called out on the comm.
You smiled in response and focused on shooting any and all enemy craft that you could. As you flew by, you lost count of the number of ships you and Poe collectively destroyed. You felt like you were on fire and were timing your shots perfectly with Poe’s talented piloting. The battle raged on for a while before you saw the shuttle that was landed begin to take off.
“Poe, swing us around! I’ll take care of them,” you called out.
“Wait! We have confirmed sighting of a prisoner being taken onto the main shuttle, do not attack. I repeat, do not attack,” a voice called over the comms, most likely another pilot.
It was like the moment they mentioned someone being taken on board, you felt them... powerful in the force. You felt Kylo too, yet something was strange about it. You could feel them both separately but it was like they were a singular force at the same time. It was extremely faint but you knew your senses weren’t deceiving you. Could it be?
“They’re pulling back!” another voice said.
You visually confirmed as all the TIE’s and troop carriers also began to evacuate. Knowing a pursuit would prove fruitless as they had a prisoner, you went back up to the cockpit to see Poe.
As you walked in, you first noticed Ruie, “Good shooting out there buddy.” You placed a hand on top of him and gently caressed him a bit to praise him. “Don’t think I didn’t see that one shot that saved us.”
He beeped and whistled in response, shyly taking the credit for his work. You smiled lightly and walked past him to sit in the co-pilot seat, giving Poe a nod and a smile.
“General Organa will handle the situation on the ground. We’ve got the droid. All squadrons, return to base.”
After you heard that, you were a bit disappointed as you wanted to know the situation on the ground but kept your mouth shut regardless. Poe turned the ship and soon, you were leaving the atmosphere to jump into hyperspace.
As you were both sitting in the cockpit, Poe clicked a button to mute the ships comms and turned to you once more, “Hey, our conversation got cut short earlier. You telling me you’re a god or something?”
You chuckled nervously, “No, not a god. I just have an extremely powerful connection with the force. Actually, before I lost my immortality, I was essentially a living embodiment of it.”
Poe’s eyes widened as he took in what you were saying, “Immortality? Y/N, I need more context.”
You sighed as you closed your eyes for a moment, “Remember, I told you that I was the living embodiment of the dark side? And that I had... killed my sister?” He nodded along, “Well... I didn’t tell you everything.”
He reached his arm over and placed it on top of yours on the seat rest and spoke softly, “Then tell me now.”
The warmth his hand provided was so intoxicating you immediately wished he would never remove his hand, “After my sister, my father had set a trap to kill me, coordinating it with Anakin Skywalker.”
“What?” he nearly shouted. “Sorry, sorry, continue please,” he apologized and lowered his volume.
NEXT FEW SENTENCES IS POSSIBLY TRIGGERING (REFER TO WARNINGS AT TOP OF FIC)
A small smile crept onto your face, “He... killed himself in front of me.”
You completely broke.
It was so fierce, it was like you were crying the entire time. The fact that you had driven your own father to... suicide just to be able to kill you. It was such a mix of emotions that your body couldn’t even comprehend them for months until now, your body wreaking havoc from your feelings. His intent was to stop you, and he could have without dying, but he chose to die with his son. You were controlled by the dark for centuries, leading you to create the conflict with your father and sister, which ultimately led to their deaths. It was simply too much for any person to bear and you wondered how you could possibly live with the weight of their lives on your shoulders.
“Y/N, look at me.”
You felt warm hands on your cheeks and focused your vision to see Poe kneeling in front of your chair.
“That’s right, I’m here,” he whispered, his thumb stroking your cheek bone slowly.
Your crying subsided and you began to sniffle a bit, averting from looking into his eyes directly in embarrassment, “Sorry.”
He shook his head vehemently, “Never. Never apologize to me. Do you want to stop?”
You shook your head and blinked hard, sniffling one last time before clearing your throat, “No, no I want you to know everything.”
He gave you a solid nod, looking straight into your eyes and sending the butterflies in your stomach into a flurry.
“He knew that by doing so, it would both catch me off guard for Anakin to kill me, and he would be able to die as well and be with me and my sister.”
“But... that isn’t exactly what happened, cause you’re standing right here, right?” Poe inquisitively remarked.
You nodded, “After seeing my father die, right after I killed my own sister trying to kill him in the first place, it was like I was able to finally peek past the curtain. I felt my sense of self returning just the slightest and in doing so, the guilt and pain rushed in all at once,” you looked off to the side for a moment as you recalled the events of that fateful day. “My father had noticed it right after he had stabbed himself and told Anakin to stop. Essentially, he realized I was being controlled and in his dying, sent his power into me. As the holder of the title ‘Balance Over The Force,’ I gained my sister's trait of the light and my fathers trait of control over both. After that, it was like the curtain was completely swiped away and I had control over myself again. Complete control.”
Poe listened intently the entire time, which you appreciated as you hoped you weren’t evoking any negative feelings within him.
“After my father died however, I lost my immortality and became... human. Maybe again? I’m not entirely sure what I was centuries ago.”
“Centuries?” he bobbed his head a bit with a raised eyebrow.
You raised a deadly eyebrow in tow and glared at him.
He gulped and looked off to the side before returning to you, “I... take back what I said, keep going.”
You chuckled a bit, “Poe, I have been alive for hundreds, maybe even thousands of years. But, before I became immortal, the only thing I know was that my body was twenty five, and that clock resumed right after my father died.”
“Holy shit,” he gasped. “My best friend is older than the fucking galaxy.”
You laughed hard at that, “No, idiot! The galaxy is way older than that!”
Poe had basically immediately begun laughing with you so you knew he exaggerated on purpose.
“Wait, but if all of this happened way back when Anakin Skywalker was still alive, how do you still look this young now?”
You mentally smacked yourself as you left out even more, “Sorry, I forgot to mention it. Remember I said how currently I’m not at full power because I didn’t want to throw the world into imbalance?” He nodded in response, “After everything happened, I sealed myself away with the force, with the command that I was to be awoken when the next nexus event in the force occurs.”
His face scrunched up in confusion, “Was the nexus event... Kylo Ren or something?”
You shook your head, “No, a nexus event has to be a major point in history. Something that... creates such a powerful rift in the force that it’s temporarily unstable. My plan was to reintegrate and bring the unstable force to a calm in order to establish myself back into the galaxy safely.”
“So, if the nexus event hasn’t happened yet, why are you awake now?” he questioned.
“I realized that the force requires me in order to ensure the nexus event occurs. So, I suppressed my force energy to that of the relative power of Anakin Skywalker. Before, I had tried completely suppressing myself and it took incredible strain, however, I’m still allowing quite a lot of force energy to be released from my body.”
“Which means that you can live in the galaxy for a much greater period of time?” Poe finished your sentence.
You smiled, “Exactly. I’ll be fine for another two years or so, but I assume the nexus event will occur much... much sooner than that.”
You thought of the connection you felt when you reached into that shuttle on Takodana.
“Well, whatever it is, I hope we come out on top, I mean, ‘The First’ in The First Order kinda has to mean it’s not gonna be the last. It’ll be slightly embarrassing if we don’t beat them.”
You both stared at each other in silence for a few moments... before the both of you broke out into laughter.
After your laughter had died down, he looked at you softly, “Feel any better?”
You met his gaze with curiosity, “You made me laugh after revisiting my greatest trauma on purpose to lighten my load. Didn’t you?” He simply kept looking at you but you saw the grin that was beginning to reveal on his face, “You also brought the subject back up, hoping I would talk about it because you know that I haven’t told anyone else and have been holding in that burden alone all this time too, didn’t you?”
The grin finally broke out and it stretched across his entire face, he threw his hands up sillily in defense, “I simply have no idea what you’re talking about, sweetheart.”
A shock ran through your entire body at his words and you fought the cough you almost released. It was evident that his words shocked himself just slightly as well as he cleared his throat after saying it.
“Y-yeah right, but thanks anyway, Poe,” you choked out, spinning your chair just slightly towards the window to avoid direct eye contact.
You heard him shuffle a bit as well as he turned towards the window as well, “Yeah, of course.”
It wasn’t too long of a wait since your conversation filled most of the trip before you were coming out of hyperspace. Poe piloted your ship down to land and the two of you walked down the ramp. You had just barely gotten boots on the ground before you heard BB-8 chirping rather loudly as he rolled at a high speed directly towards you and Poe.
“BB-8, my buddy!” Poe yelled as he began walking towards the droid as well. “Oh, it’s so good to see you.”
Poe had kneeled down to get level with BB-8 as the droid beeped at him.
“Finn saved you? Where is he?”
“I knew it!”
You and Poe had spoken at the same time and you shared a look with a smile before Poe turned back around to look in the direction BB-8 had come from. You noticed someone wearing Poe’s jacket and immediately understood him as Finn, knowing he could be the only other one at the wreckage to grab it.
“Poe? Poe Dameron, you’re alive?” Finn yelled as he rushed forward.
Poe rushed forward to meet him as you followed behind, “Buddy! So are you!”
They immediately wrapped each other in a big hug, “What happened to you?”
“I got thrown from the ship! Next thing I know, Y/N saved me and there was no sign of you or the crash!”
You couldn’t ignore the pang of jealousy you felt as Poe was so comfortable with Finn, who was also very handsome... Though you felt deep feelings inside of Finn easily, and realized it wasn’t for Poe, which made you relax a bit.
“BB-8 says that you saved him!”
“No, no, no. It wasn’t just me.”
“You completed my mission, Finn! You...” he paused as he took his appearance in. “That’s my jacket.”
Finn stumbled a bit, “Oh.”
He was about to take if off before Poe stopped him, “No, no, keep it, it suits you. You’re a good man, Finn.”
“Poe, I need your help,” Finn suddenly turned serious.
“What do you need?” you made yourself known next to them.
Poe turned to you, “You know the weapon that destroyed the Hosnian system?”
You and Poe nodded solemnly.
“I worked on it, that’s where they took Rey,” he informed.
You were the first to respond, “Rey? That was the one they took prisoner?”
Finn nodded, and you felt the lightsaber he had on him, the kyber crystal inside of it making you nostalgic.
“That lightsaber, it’s hers right?” you asked.
“How did you-” he took it out and showed it to you and Poe. “This is Luke Skywalker’s lightsaber.”
Poe looked at it in wonder and you spoke, “Well, its original owner was Anakin Skywalker.”
You raised your hand and used the force to levitate it out of his hands and into your own, “Yeah.” You smiled, “This is Anakin’s.”
Finn double took as you used the force, “Wait, you’re a Jedi?!”
Poe spoke up, “Show off.”
You smiled, “I am, and Rey also has the capacity to be one. You worked on that base, you’ve got information we need?”
Finn nodded.
“Let’s see the General,” Poe said as he began walking towards command.
As you all walked along, you had to bob and weave many different supplies that were being transported with workers running all around the base. Eventually, you got to Command to see Leia around a holotable with a few workers around her.
“General Organa,” Poe said as you approached their group. “I’m sorry to interrupt, this is Finn. He needs to talk to you.”
“And I need to talk to him,” she turned to Finn. “That was incredibly brave what you did. Renouncing The First Order, saving this man’s life,” she motioned with her head towards Poe.
“Thank you, ma’am. But a friend of mine was taken prisoner,” Finn responded promptly.
You could tell that the person Finn had deep feelings for was Rey, but you decided to keep that to yourself.
“Han told me about the girl,” Leia answered. “I’m sorry.”
Han Solo? Damn, he’s back? He must be who helped them with BB-8... that means Chewbacca is probably here as well.
“Finn’s familiar with the weapon that destroyed the Hosnian system,” Poe was quick to add. “He worked on the base.”
Leia quickly turned back to Finn, “We’re desperate for anything you can tell us.”
“That’s where my friend was taken,” Finn affirmed. “I’ve got to get there fast.”
“And I will do everything I can to help, but first you need to tell us all you know.”
Finn had begun explaining everything that he knew about the base, which was surprisingly quite a lot. He didn’t have any specific information to offer but he gave a detailed outline of its capabilities and its movements. Once he had finished his debrief, everyone was cleared and you stood in the corner for a moment thinking to yourself.
That connection I felt with Rey and Kylo... is this the nexus event?
You were pulled out of your thoughts by Poe who had walked up to you, “Hey, you alright?”
You inhaled as you were brought back to reality and met his eyes with a smile, “Yeah, all good. Why wouldn’t I be?”
Poe gave you a look, “You might have gotten better at not seeming like you lived under a rock for centuries but your lying needs some work, buddy.”
You couldn’t help but laugh at getting caught, “Yeah, yeah I’ve got something on my mind. Not sure yet though but I’ll let you know if that changes.”
He pursed his lips, “Good enough for me.”
If this truly is the nexus event... we’re in for something big.

It's backstory time.
I've been figuring out what to post first, and since I'd like to establish my characters first, I may as well post some backstory pieces for my journalist OC, Averie.
Just a heads up: I don't have a beta reader. I'll make sure to read over the stories and check for grammar. Please feel free to tell me if you discover any grammatical errors.
For the following story I shall provide an explanation for some words.
Beeper: Baby grumpus, until the age of 3 years. Used because they squeak, sounding like a 'beep' when they need something from their parents.
Grumpling: Child grumpus. Used until they reach puberty, then they're refered as grumpuses.
The story for this picture will appear under the cut:
"I don't know what to do, Al." A tired, dark red grumpus held an orange beeper in her arms as she craddled the little bundle of fur. "It's been three weeks since...Willa..." Liadne choked back the tears, intending to stay strong for her twin grandchildren. Alren placed one paw on the shoulder of his wife, while he held a chuckling Morrigen in his other arm.
"We'll go through this together, sweetie." the orange-brown grump tried to reassure his wife. "We're going to be there for the twins. Averie...and Morrigen will be fine under our care." With a regretful look to a portrait of Willa and Dextur, the middle-aged grumpus sighed, craddling his granddaughter.
"And when that stubborn log decides to take care of his children, then we will be there for him."
"Y-Yeah..." Liadne nodded as she gently stroked over Averie's fur. "Boy needs some time...but I'm sure, deep down, he does care for his beepers."
---
Four years and Dextur was standing in a field of yellow flowers. It was an excursion, supposed to be a nice day. The brown grumpus expected Liadne and Alren to tag along during the field trip, but for some reason both haven't bothered to let him know that he would go with the twins on his own. And here he was, standing in the field and reflecting his past life choices.
These twins are his children. The same grumplings he has left the moment they were born. Long ago he blamed both for the death of his wife. Four years passed quickly when he got to attend one competition after another, without taking long breaks. Ice skating was the only thing that somewhat helped distracting him from the pain.
However, a year ago a freak accident has ended his career. With his damaged leg and only one eye left, he was unable to ice skate. During rehabilitation he realized how much he began to take some aspects of his life for granted.
As much as it pains him having to life without his beloved Willa...she's not fully gone. The family she wished to have was still here.
And me, grumping idiot, is going to go the same route like my grumping sire!
---
A loud THUMP brought him the attention of one of the grumplings stumbling to the ground, and the breaking of a toy. Dextur immediately rushes to the side of the orange grumpling, as they held a paw over the bruise of their knee. "Averie! Are you hurt?" he called out and kneeled to them to have a better look on their wound.
Averie was choking back tears as they glanced up to the brown grumpus. Meanwhile their twin sister Morrigen joined the two, gently placing a paw on their shoulder. Deep down Dextur was delighted to see how close the twins are.
"I'm...fi...-NO, MY FIGURINE!" Averie cried out as they pointed to their broken toy, a bird figurine, with a devastated expression. Dextur got a hold on the figuring, now being broken in several pieces, and shaking his head. "Sorry. Unfortunately...there is no way to repair it." He put the broken pieces aside, not wanting others to accidentally step on it. He put on a smile as he returned to the twins. "I-It's alright, it happens. I can always buy you a new toy."
But Averie was not reassured. Their bottom lip wobbled, and not even their sister seemed to find the right words to calm her sibling down.
"But...but it was the one you chose and gave me." They sniffled. "First thing from dad."
Dextur's healthy eye widened by the statement. Did...did Averie just call me...
It broke his heart seeing the grumpling like this. Yes, it may be a toy, but for Averie, it was the first thing that came from their parent. Their dad. Him.
The brown grumpus remained silent, as he looked to the yellow flowers. He liked those plants...and so did Willa. He and her visited the fields every summer. This place had something...magical to it, which is probably why Liadne and Alren wanted to have the trip there.
Morrigen seemed unsure what to do, but she too showed signs of distress. Time to try and defuse the situation.
"Did you two...enjoy the trip?" he then asked to try and change the topic. "Did you...liked going to the fields?"
To his relief the twins brightened up by the question and nodded enthusiastically. "Yup!" At least that, a good trip. It warmed his heart that the grumplings had a great day. Maybe it could've been more fun with their grandparents, but at least it was enough.
For four years he stayed out of his children's life while he was simply floating around, doing competitions, drinking and turning his back on everyone, including his best friends. Today however he felt...alive...and...even close to being happy.
Dextur glanced to the twin siblings, showing hints of regret as he spoke. "I've been a terrible father to both of you for many years. But...but I'll do my best for you from now on...so..." He winced. "Is it...is it alright if I stay with you? Is it alright to be...part of your life?"
To his surprise Morrigen and Averie approached the brown grumpus and reached out to his paw. He held it towards them, so both could hold on it. "Yes, dad. Please stay with us." A small smile formed on the twins, where Dextur returned the gesture. However, soon Averie's face scrunched up again, and their lower lip trembled once more.
"D-Dad?" Again it nearly broke Dextur's heart seeing Averie being so upset. He glanced to the orange grumpling and nodded to show they got his attention. "I...I'm feeling sad. I lost something important today...and...is it...is it okay not to hold it in anymore?"
Dextur noticed that Morrigen seemed to be upset, having to witness how sad Averie got. Meanwhile their eyes squinted, still trying to hold it back in, but their whole body began trembling.
"Nana..." Averie tried to form a coherent sentence, but was interrupted by a series of sniffling. "Nana...told us there are a few places where we can cry. Either in the bathroom...wherever her or Aki are...or..." They mumbled, looking up to Dextur with teary eyes. "...or in daddy's arms!"
The brown grumpus gasped, hearing the first sobs from Averie. Without hesitating anymore...he scooped both grumplings into a hug. There Averie bursted into tears, followed by their sister Morrigen.
"I'm sorry." Dextur muttered, loud enough for his grumplings to hear it. "I'm...I'm so sorry..." Feeling tears down from his left eye, he held the twin grumplings close, not letting them go for even a minute as he tried to comfort them. Instinctively he bellowed in a deep, calming tone, like...a parent grumpus does to soothe their grumpling.
"I...won't...leave you...again..." he rumbled in-between, allowing the grumplings to sob loudly into his fur. No, he will not leave them a second time, for he swore to be the father Morrigen and Averie needed in the first place. "I...I promise...I'll be with you, never leaving you again."
He was a lonely grumpus after the death of his wife. Today however, he realized that he wasn't alone. Unlike the times before, he will not cut out the grumpuses important to him again.
After Morrigen and Averie calmed down, they took a walk through the fields together with Dextur. Averie was holding his left paw, Morrigen his right paw. Looking to them, it filled him with pride for the first time for having such wonderful grumplings.
Willa...I finally found someone...someone important to me...someone to love and protect.

Just thinking about some things regarding Abdirak in the Tav!Alois timeline. If you don't understand who Alois is then you can read this backstory fic for my Tav!Abdirak if you want. This is not really anything of interest, I just felt like rambling lol. Contains spoilers for all acts and end game.
Character death mention
To the best of his knowledge Alois has been dead for some fifteen years. He has carried that grief and isolation with him this whole time, he has never processed that loss but masked it with worship.
And it just so happens that his invitation to to the goblin camp lead their paths to cross. Of course Alois (who has been avoiding him this whole time, not wanting their schemes to endanger him firther) would be surprised, but Abdirak must be shaken to his core by this, especially with how cool and casual they are about the reunion.
I think they'd inquire about his work like old friends catching up, but they wouldn't make much time for him in that moment. I think they'd also proudly display the fresh brand on their hand (both because it was a big step in their mission to secure gain footing in the cult and because they were able to tolerate a serious burn unlike in their shameful past) but refuse to elaborate further, suggesting he meet them at their camp later. Abdirak ends up traveling there with the goblins, catching wind of what Alois had aided in (the fall of the grove) on the way over.
I think he'd be incredibly unsettled. Ironically, I think he would start to question if this was the real Alois, as opposed to in the Tav!Abdirak timeline where he willfully let's himself believe that his Guardian (who took the form of Alois) is actually Alois.
I'm thinking emotions are high as they catch up with each other, but Alois has rebuilt all the walls that their relationship with Abdirak had brought down in the past and they are much more reserved, though still just as gentle with him. They seem to no longer speak of Loviatar as freely, but instead the Absolute which raises some concerns, but they brush it off with whispers that it's for Loviatar's will and that he needn't worry nor convert.
They almost sleep together (mostly undressed, making out, feeling each other up) but then Alois stops themself and tells Abdirak he should get going and that they're leaving in the morning for Moonrise Towers, which Alois seems quite eager for, in spite of the danger.
Abdirak recalls one of the Zhents he'd traded with back at the goblin camp was also headed there and, suspicious of Alois and concerned for their behavior, tags along with her and her group.
Alois ends up saving him in the shadow cursed lands when their paths converge on the way to Moonrise, but they aren't very happy to see him and are quite cold, though it's clear they're partially forcing it. He's given a final warning to seek shelter at Last Light while they proceed to moonrise to conduct their own business, but his bad feeling continues and he knows he can't trust them.
He finds them one last time at a camp where the shadows are thinner and attempts to confront them, but he's armed himself beforehand because he hardly recognizes them (especially next to the squeaky clean, idolized image he's held in his head since their apparent passing).
I am on the fence about it but I've been considering having Alois, who is being snuck up on, strike first without warning and having them have to live and suffer with killing the person they sacrificed everything to save and protect so long ago, and now feeling like they have to double down in their goals (to secure control of the cult and turn them over to Loviatar directly) so that it wasn't for nothing.
Buuuuuuut on the otherhand I like Abdirak so maybe not lol. I might do a second timeline in which he survives and when Alois has burned ever bridge and enthralled every person with a tadpole and has nothing at all to show for it there is still someone out there who will either suffer it with them and help them set it right or cut them down for it.
Hmm...🤔

I recently read/re-read some of Pike's books and came across this blog in the process. I love your analyses and comparisons of plot and character similarities among his books. Among the ones I read, Monster was my favorite - forgive me if you've said this somewhere, but do you have a personal favorite or least favorite of his stories?
I started answering this a while ago, and then mindlessly navigated away from the page and lost like twenty minutes of work. It was so frustrating that I abandoned the question, trying to give myself space and time that I wanted to invest again.
Because this is a great question. I actually meant to consider this in a sort of wrap-up post, with a summary and personal reflection. But after close to 100 stories I was so burned out on Pike that I wasn't in any place to think about it. (Kind of the same as what happened with the first version of this response.)
So four years later, here's my bests and worsts of the whole experience.
My top 5 favorites
See You Later. A heartfelt love story that unlocks all the feels. Maybe it's nostalgia, but I can't help myself with this one.
Master of Murder. More nostalgia, but it actually is genuinely clever, making the suspense novelist figure out the crime he's been subconsciously reporting for a year.
Monster. Dude, I knew I liked this and was creeped out by it back in the day, but I did not remember how tight and how chilling this story was. Maybe his actual best.
Whisper of Death. Creepy and delightful. Character motivations work, activities and actions and repercussions work, and even the sense of "wrong place, wrong time" feels right.
Die Softly. This book is fucked, but in a good way. I love how we're rooting for one thing and slowly come to realize it's all wrong.
other good ones
Bury Me Deep. A tight story with minimal characters and set. Believable and not overused.
Remember Me. It's a classic and a best-seller for a reason. Just … like, ignore the sequels.
Last Act. Even though I don't love the "ladies be crazy" conceit, this is a solid suspense mystery that we actually have a chance to unravel.
Weekend. Yeah, I like the mysteries. This one is realistic in characters and actions. And yeah, admittedly, I have a soft spot for my first Pike book.
pleasant surprises
Execution of Innocence. I don't know if it actually aged well, what with the crazy-gay trope, but I was grateful for the realistic crime story.
Gimme a Kiss. I remembered this one being simplistic and uninteresting. Maybe because I was a dumb kid. As an old man, I appreciated the thoughtful plot and agency of the female characters.
The Visitor. The first time around, I was mad at how short this book was. The reread revealed that it had exactly as much as it needed.
Spooksville in general. I hadn't read these before, and was expecting disconnected slime monster horror. It was nice to stick with one group of kids and one setting, even if the "scares" were diverse.
unpleasant surprises
The Lost Mind. I remembered this one being such a great story with a killer structure and an amazing twist, and was really bugged when, upon reread, I discovered it had a MASSIVE plot and character hole.
Falling. It was creepy in a good way the first time I read it, but coming back to it made it creepy in a bad way. Also, all his strong female agency in the good books goes out the window in this one.
The Star Group. One I loved at the time, with the whole idea of high school friend groups forever until we die, but upon reread the death wasn't actually a payoff.
books that don't include enough
Magic Fire. We needed more backstory, particularly on the love interest, since she was the whole reason for the story happening and we just plain don't know why.
The Tachyon Web. More about the characters (not to mention societies and interstellar politics) would have made this a deeper and more satisfying story.
The Grave. It has a lot of promise, but there's not enough about how they end up where they are and what might happen next or what it means. Seemed like he tried again with Witch World, which is ... sort of better? But still not great.
bottom 5
(tumblr won't let me do a numbered list in reverse)
5. Chain Letter 2. Throwing away a thoughtful portrayal of a kid with cancer-induced mental illness in order to move some books on the power of Satanic Panic.
4. Black Knight. It's The Hunger Games, except … not good.
3. The Wicked Heart. I can't with the fuckin' Hitler, Kevin.
2. Witch. I can't tell if nobody cares or if everyone cares too much. Either way, it sucks.
1. Remember Me 3. Not just the unnecessary-sequelness, though that's part of it. Shari Cooper didn't remember herself, and becomes a racist asshat, and I don't want anything here.

trying something a little different to get out of my writer's block. this made me giggle despite my school burnout, so enjoy this is not edited lmao Content warnings: MAJOR LESSON 16 SPOILERS, language, death mention, choking mention, nsf/w language and imagery (kinda??)
AITA for killing the foreign exchange student?
Okay, I know it sounds bad, but I hope you'll read the whole story before making a decision. I'll provide some backstory.
Myself (6000M), six of my brothers (6000+M), and one of my sisters (5000F) got in a really big fight with the rest of our family a while ago. Long story short, my sister used her position to help out her long-distance boyfriend. The whole thing eventually ended with us all getting kicked out, and my sister passing away. It was a really hard time for all of us.
Through some weird coincidence, we ended up being helped out by the son of our new school's principal (or something-- either way, he's a nepotism baby). We'll call him D. This is important for later.
Along the way, I realized that my sister's boyfriend and his family were the reason this all happened. They really didn’t deserve her and took advantage of her kindness. If she hadn't met them, she wouldn't have been put in a bad position and would therefore still be alive.
Fast forward a few years, and my oldest brother (let's call him L) has started kissing the ass of our principal's son. It's fucking annoying how much he sucks up to him. I honestly think they're dating but that's neither here nor there.
D suddenly announces that the school's doing a foreign exchange, and they're bringing in two members of the family that oh, you know, got my sister killed. Even though I’m well within my right to be upset, L is too busy sucking D's dick to care, and he fucking locks me in the attic. For months.
So the exchange student (we'll call them MC) comes, and starts living in our house like nothing even happened.
Here’s where it gets dicey, but I’ll try to explain as best I can.
MC eventually finds me in the attic, and I convince them to let me out. I’m finally able to avenge my sister, so I choke MC a little. Big deal. They die and my brothers are super upset, as if I wasn’t doing them a favor?? They’re all mad at me, and then it comes out that MC was actually my sister’s love child from before she died, so now they’re extra mad at me. I don’t know what to do. I know murder is kind of frowned upon but they’ve all done it too, so they have no room to judge. Imo they’re all being pretty ungrateful.
So, that’s the story. Tell me, Reddit, am I the asshole?

Yo, check out my Isekai OC! (art by @lionindenial, check out their blog, they do lots of cool stuff!)
A few weeks ago, a friend and I were joking about how pretty much every op RPG-Isekai protag is a light-skinned dude and how it would be cool if an RPG themed Isekai had an op lady protagonist and from there the brainworms started developing.
For more info on Miss Isekai Protag, check below the cut!
Makaira Gushiken
Age 17
November 15th
Scorpio
6′0/1,80 m
Uses a war scythe in combat and to channel her powers
Dark Magic User
Backstory
Makaira grew up in Okinawa as the child of a Japanese salarywoman and her husband, who migrated from Mexico. She didn’t have it easy, both due to being afro-Japanese and living in perpetual poverty. Makaira dropped out of school to support her family, despite having good enough grades to go for higher education.
One late evening, when she was walking home from work, Makaira witnessed a mugging. Due to her phone’s battery being empty, she couldn’t call for help. Unwilling to just let this happen in front of her, Makaira intervened - and ended up getting stabbed by the mugger and bleeding out while the victim tried futilely to help her.
When she died, her soul was snatched up by the deity of another world and transported to said world, Gehenna.
The deity in question is Nyx, the God and personification of Death. Years prior, he was betrayed and banished into an abyss by his siblings, the Gods of Life, Nature, Wealth and Light specifically. As a result, no one in Gehanna has been able to die for over a century.
While the rich have enjoyed this state of being, the poor, those who cannot afford things like healers and healing or youth potions, are suffering immensely. People are often left to age into oblivion until they can no longer move and are eventually buried alive, to make room. Slavery and human trafficking are also blooming, due to slaves dying from being overworked or starving no longer being an issue. You can hit, starve or otherwise mistreat a slave, and the most you’d have to do afterward is spend some money on a cheap healing potion or hedgewitch to get them back on their feet.
Non-human races aren’t having a particularly good time either, as humans are no longer scared of dying when hunting them down.
Nyx felt all this and tried to reach out to a mortal, in order to right things, but his imprisonment made it impossible for him to affect the mortal realm of Gehenna in any way.
So he used his powers to reach through the veil between worlds for a vessel. And he found Makaira.
Makaira was resurrected as Nyx’ vessel and an Angel of Death, basically a Grim reaper. She’s nearly impervious to physical and magical harm. Only extremely high-tier weapons or spells can even get a dent on her. She herself is a wielder of literal god-tier dark magic. Her new body has also enhanced her physical srength, speed and durability. She could deadlift a horse with one arm and not feel tired at all. Some of her other powers inculde the ability to set trapped souls free, or in other words: Grant death to people who are desperately waiting for it, and reading the surface thoughts of any person if she concentrates a bit.
Due to Nyx not ressurecting her quick enough, her right eye has rotted away. In her new body it’s been “replaced” by a will-o’-the-wisp like light blue light, that she usually covers up to avoid attention. Once she makes a name for herself, the eye becomes her iconic feature that other people use to identify her.
Personality
Makaira is of the ruthless anti-hero sort. She won’t hesitate to strike someone down if they pose a threat to her or those she cares about. Due to growing up working class, she has a bunch of emptahy for the poor and none for the rich. She’s fiercely loyal toward her party and her friends. And also just a teeny bit traumatized from, you know. Dying in her old life.

john gaius really is. the guy of all time. the poorest little meowmeow. he’s SO complex he’s so hard to read and i love that about him but god writing anything in regards to his characterisation is like. this needs to come with 20 footnotes and caveats and (shakes him) why can’t you be SIMPLE
getting into it though nona’s dreams in ntn are so. fascinating. because like finally, finally we’re getting the backstory, we’re hearing about what happened, we’re seeing how it all began. but we hear it from john’s mouth? and not even the john from all those years ago, john from NOW. john “i told you to eat the souls of the people most important to you so you could become cannon fodder for my war” gaius. john “i told you that you were like the daughter i never had while knowing i was the one who ordered for your death” gaius.
it’s so hard to parse truth from lie with him. harrow/alecto (halecto) rightfully points out that he fudges the details about gideon and the nuke, about who fired the first shot when, and if john can do that— who’s to say anything else he told halecto was any more true? there’s smth to be said about john’s unreliability as a narrator (which also ties into GIDEON’S unreliability as a narrator but that’s a different post) in that without actually getting into his head it’s very hard to know exactly what he’s thinking about. and even if we ever did get a story or a chapter from his perspective, i doubt it’d be anything but him constantly reassuring himself that what he’s doing and what he did was “right”. to the point where he sincerely believes that as fact.
the way he spoke about it to halecto. with so much yearning, so much anger. furious but never with himself, never with his friends, only everyone else: the people he perceived to have failed him. the ignorant who wouldn’t listen. the ones that got away. so emotional about it even after thousands of years but so warped, so distorted by time…
and even when he’s talking about his friends, his lyctors, his hands and gestures, he speaks of them with this. arrogance, almost. this attitude of “it was sad, but it’s done and gone now”. he cared about the way they perceived him; he cared about keeping their belief in him alive. too scared to admit to his own failures, scared to face up to their judgement. he chose to take away their memories of everything, to lie to their faces about the people they once were (see his “if the man you were—the man you were before you died, before the Resurrection—could hear what you just said to me, he’d tear your throat out.” line to augustine) all because he didn’t know how to function on his own without them.
augustine and mercymorn loved him so much; they wanted to believe in him so badly! i don’t think it’s any coincidence that they and gideon were the last surviving lyctors at the end of it all, because the three of them were also the ones who threw their lot in with john even when everything started falling apart. time warped them so badly, losing alfred and cristabel the way that they did was devastating to august and mercy, but even then— even after everything! they tried so hard to believe. to convince themselves that john couldn’t have lied, he wouldn’t have, he wasn’t the sort. he was supposed to be their friend.
and just. something about how devastating it must have been for the john of thousands of years ago to lose them both like that. to watch A— get shot; to watch M— beg for his life. only for john to be the one that kills augustine and mercymorn at the end of everything, because at some point he stopped being their friend, and he started being their god.

Dragon Ball Super 022
Tumblr media
This is the one where Gotenks headbutts a guy in the dick.
Tumblr media
Oh, this is also the one where Tagoma rips off Piccolo’s arm like he’s nothing.  It’s weird how this is like the third wildest thing to happen in this episode.  So I guess this is the high water mark for this saga.
Tumblr media
So after the arm-ripping-off thing, Gotenks arrives with the headbutt to stop Tagoma, and then he immediately de-fuses into Goten and Trunks.  Frieza recognizes Goten as Goku’s son, and he thinks Trunks is the son of the mysterious Super Saiyan who killed him eighteen years ago.  Little does Frieza know that this was the future AU counterpart of Trunks, but no one has time to go over that now.
Tumblr media
Then, while Tagoma tends to his wounded groin, Captain Ginyu shows up to steal his body.  He can’t speak, which means he can’t say the magic words to do the bodyswap trick, but he does write some words in the dirt, and tricks Tagoma into reading them aloud, and somehow that works just as well.
Tumblr media
Of course, Frieza has no idea what just happened, so Ginyu has to explain his entire backstory.  He got turned into a frog while fighting Vegeta, then he got teleported to Earth when Porunga granted Dende’s wish to evacuate Namek, and he’s been stranded here ever since, putting up with various hardships and indignities while figuring out his next move.  But now he’s back, in Tagoma’s body, which is more powerful than any other body Ginyu has ever had, so he’s rarin’ to get back to work as Frieza’s underling.
Tumblr media
And he does really well, until Gohan turns Super Saiyan and kicks him in the dick.  Kind of weird how this isn’t even the best groin injury in this episode.
Okay, so I have a question.  If all Ginyu needed to do was to trick someone else into saying the words, then why didn’t he do that a long time ago?  I mean, he’d have to learn Earth’s language and alphabet, and then find someone dumb enough to read it aloud, but he’s been stuck like this for almost twenty years, and what else was taking up his time?
I think it would have been a better gag if he revealed that he had been training for years to use his froggy body to produce the sounds needed to vocalize the words.  Not true speech, but just enough to get the words “change now!” out of his throat.
Tumblr media
Meanwhile, Goku and Vegeta are stuck in some unknown dimension Whis sent them to.  They can’t move at all, no matter how hard they try, until Vegeta recalls one of Whis’s lessons about ki control.  According to Whis, their problem is that they “leak” ki energy all over the place while they fight, and this is inefficient.  He wants them instead to focus on containing all their power as they use it.  So when Vegeta tries to apply this concept, he finds he can move again.
However, that still doesn’t save them.  Goku thinks this place is similar to the Hyperbolic Time Chamber, and if it’s an endless void with no exit, then they might starve to death.  Goku figures that Beerus must train in this place, which means he must have a pantry somewhere, so they start looking for one.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Meanwhile, Gohan shows Ginyu mercy, which reminds Frieza a little too much of the time Goku showed him mercy back on Namek.  This was a nice touch, since it shows that Frieza isn’t just mad about losing to Goku or getting killed.  Those are the main beefs he has, but he’s also furious about the humiliation he suffered, and the torment he endured in hell, and the way Goku pitied him in the end.  So Frieza starts shooting Gohan himself, and orders Ginyu to stand down.
Tumblr media
Then, just before Frieza can finish him off, Piccolo jumps in to take the killing shot, and dies.  This seemed kind of pointless to me on the first viewing, but now it seems more obvious.  They needed something to add a story beat to this arc, since Gohan already got death-beamed in the last episode.  The movie had Frieza nearly kill him, and then he ate a senzu bean and got better.  Episodes 21 and 22 basically try to spread that out across two episodes, which doesn’t make sense.  So it’s better to have Piccolo take a shot like this than to have Gohan do it twice.
Of course, it just demonstrates that stretching these movies out across ten or more episodes is a bad call.  They would have been better off just not bothering, but no one consulted me on this.
