Now that I've had time to calm down a little (lol) I want to really highlight how much story Fearne has gotten lately. It kinda feels right that after Dorian is back the exu trio can experience each other's back stories more fully?
Wonder if she's realized her curiosity seems to be getting her into trouble (which isn't exactly her fault). How does she feel about being tricked by such a cute animal?
She's probably realized she left Ashton behind, and while she did admit it could happen, how does she feel about it. Is she gonna avoid Ash or stay connected. (Looks like those two are gonna have to cuddle again to make up for it haha)
Will she feel more pulls to darkness and overcome it, or succumb, or perhaps, find more power to use and not fall into darkness? Anything is still possible, I feel.
Fighting dark Fearne was exciting on one hand, but I'm sure very frightening on another as we know seeing her in exu scared her. Not to mention she almost died! If her buddy wasn't there, things would have gone dire. Will dark Fearne return? Hmm.
She has learned about her friends (crown keepers) and their recent tragedies, she's worried for Opal. I imagine she wishes she could do something to help her out. But for now, as always, they gotta keep moving forward.
On that note, still hoping she gets to meet Morrighan. It's clear she was set up (backstory wise) to meet Fearne, so I would love to see it happen. Those two would get along nicely. Even if it has to be the finale or some one shot in the future, I will take it!
I'm also very interested in seeing more of Zathuda. I got a bad feeling he's got some nasty plans upcoming...

It is a fact of the universe that no weddings involving a Bat escape disaster (Batcat, Dickkori, ect). Jondami are not immune.
How bad is it on a scale from "I ripped my wedding suit fighting crime 10 minutes before the ceremony" to "Universal Extinction is Going to happen Right Now if not stopped"?
Before things go bad, who's invited? They probably want to keep things small at first, but then Kon hears about it, and blabs to Young Justice, and then the Flashes hear about it from Bart and before long half the Justice League, the members of a dozen vaguely correlated teams, and a third of the League of Assassins have all RSVPed (they were not invited). Do they lean into their hero theme colors or desperately try to find a color that isn't in some way associated with their other lives? Who are the best men (or women)? Who are the groomsmen (or women)? Diana is canonically ordained in as many places as she can be, does she perform the ceremony, or do they get someone else to? Do they try and rope a civilian into this part for a single element of normality?
Who has a meltdown that would be Bridezilla/Groomzilla/In-law-zilla esque if they were literally Anyone Else in literally Any Other Scenario? (Plot twist, it's not Jon or Damian or Bruce or any of the other melodramatic bastards in this family, it's Steph, because "goddamn it it's my little brother's wedding he's come SO FAR to be able to do this I am NOT letting it be ruined by NUCLEAR METEORS/NINJA ASSASSINS/ARKHAM BREAKOUTS/WHATEVER ELSE!" She comes the closest she ever has to killing. Bruce comes the closest he ever has to letting her.)
Does the whole thing end in a Pirates of the Caribbean-escue "Marry us!" mid-battle? Or do they beat the Big Bad, save the day, and end up so exhausted that they agree to just file the paperwork with no wedding at all (after a 12 hour nap, obviously)? Is this how the public learns that (whatever their hero identities are at this point) are not only in a committed relationship, but MARRIED (or trying their damnedest to be)?!
Discuss!
oh they 100% end up getting married in the middle of a universe-ending battle, with Jon saying something super sappy and emotional like 'I'm not taking another step in this battle and risking losing you forever until you're my husband.' or whatever.
I honestly think both of them would originally want to elope. Damian's not fond of crowds and Jon wants their moments private/all to themselves. But they'd want family. While Damian tries to figure out an elegant way to tell his family, Jon excitedly tells Kon, who, yeah, then tells the WRONG PEOPLE and next thing you know the whole JUSTICE LEAGUE knows before the Batfam and ain't that awkward 😂 the brothers are the most offended of everyone.
their wedding colors are SO muted. probably lots of creams, maybe very soft accents like purples or baby blues or olive greens. subtle, unlike the rest of their lives.
the public find out the heroes are married because a citizen catches them doing spiderman kiss and takes a blurry pic that gets immediately sent to all national news publications. Bruce gets mad about the public PDA.

AYYYY UNDERRATED VARPUNEN FAM TIME LESGOOO. I'm thinking I'll try to say one positive and one negative but I won't force it if it stalls me
P - Negative: See she was born into a warrior family (aka she's the beast variety of demon), which in itself was just not the right lifestyle for her personally. Real stressful. I could pick probably multiple experiences from here but let's highlight the string of clashes between a Plague from those days who ended up killing and injuring several beasts. There are still two living Villagers that bear the scars from this time. P, however, bears the mental scars of having one or her co apprentices and teachers murdered. She has survivors guilt and various other kinds of guilt from this and suffered a bad freeze reaction that has stayed with her for a while.. The victims weren't even super close to her, but it was the sheer horror of the fact that anyone could just die (and in her mind, it'd be her fault bc she failed to help them).
As a bonus, btw, the plague involved in these events is dead nowadays. Please, do take a guess as to how.
Positive: One time, P and Nan were left home alone together for roughly a week, and since P mostly didn't interact with Nan aside from what she deemed necessary, things got quiet and awkward for a bit.. P was honestly scared, bc she had the fear that this was some kind of test from their husband - one she could fail miserably, somehow, so she remained on her tiptoes the whole time. He said he'd be off on a business trip and as the author I can verify this is actually true, and it wasn't a test, but unfortunately Ps mental state was... Not good. Thanks to him. A few days in, Nan approaches P carefully and tells her that it's okay if she doesn't know what to say, and if she needs her alone time. But if she did want to hang out, or talk, or anything, Nan would be here listening, no pressure to come up with anything special. See Nan had thought that the avoidance had more to do with Ps social anxiety and being a very withdrawn person, rather than paranoia over their husband. Although I won't deny she had a hunch..
Either way, this left a very positive impression on P, and she found some kind of strength in the fact that maybe, just maybe, if things get bad enough, she can lean on Nan. That, and she decided then and there to try her best to treat nan better and try to approach her on her terms. It didn't end up happening too much (not enough in her eyes), but it did still happen.
Sighs lovingly. P deserves way more attention imo. I did not hold back from rambling. Anyways!
Pesticinger - Negative: (TW TORTURE FEEL FREE TO SKIP) So it's widely known she's unpopular amongst humans for obvious reasons, so they often plot various things to get back at her, and often try to even capture or kill it. So there's this waterfall. A group of humans really want Pesticinger to have her "comeuppance" for what she's put them through. So this waterfall. They've set a trap there, where there's a rope that ties into a noose when released, and it hangs under the rushing water. Pesticinger is lured into this trap, and here's the situation: she's got a noose around her throat, and it tightens the further you pull on it. If she gets swept up by the water's pull, it starts choking her, combined with the water trying to pull her under. So she has to literally constantly fight the water, or she suffocates (either by drowning, or noose). It is not a good time. Her feathers get soaked the hell out so flying becomes difficult, she's quickly exhausted and it's kinda hard to call for help when you're trying to fight suffocation. She was rescued, of course. Poor bird. But she can barely even look at a noose, and the noise of waterfalls gives her anxiety. So do ropes, if they're put anywhere near her body.
This next memory I'm not sure if I'd label it necessarily either strictly positive or negative but it was very impactful for her. See Pesticinger has the mental capacity to get really, really introspective and existential, but the way her brain works, also sometimes leads it to tie itself into knots and leads her down dead ends she can't think herself out of. So it can definitely overwhelm itself by overthinking. When she was still very young, in one of these cases, she came to speak to her creator henself; the Mistress. It asked many panicked, disjointed questions, trying to untangle it's mind, and getting distressed, it started knocking at it's head with it's foot. The Mistress, gently, places hens hand on Pesticingers face to block the hits, and they share silent eye contact for a moment.
"Dear bird.. You don't have to know all the answers. You might, someday, but you don't need to. You are more than just a bird, or a beast; you are a force of nature. Even still, you can be as ordinary as you want. Just don't forget yourself."
Pesticinger still feels.. Bittersweet, about it. She's frustrated that she didn't get the answers, in fact the denial of them entirely upset her back then. But she can't say it wasn't also comforting. The reason this memory isn't purely positive is mainly due to Pesticingers mindset.
I think I'll cap this post here BUT BEFORE I DO I'll include just a little something from Nan bc. My number one Varpunen fam for sure. It'll be under the cut
I'll be vague bc I was actually writing a whole thing about this and it's still kinda in progress. But.
Something that's really stuck with Nan was when she, at one point, took her kids to see their grandpa, aka Nans father. He knew there were kids, but hadn't met them due to life just sweeping everyone up for a while.
He did not react well to seeing them. Their visit became very short and very uncomfortable. Nan had to have a talk with her father privately, (His name is Yngve Surström, btw) while the kids awkwardly waited outside.
This would become the last time Nan sees her father before he disappeared completely. Nobody knows why. Or how.

Me, quietly, desperately trying to find a reliable guide to some of the triggers in Act 3, because I may have gotten myself into a pickle, and Ari may never sleep again because:
Having exhausted everything to do in Rivington that I could find (rip strange murder ox), I saved and:
Waved my junior detective badge at the bridge (among the five other objects in my possession I could have used), and immediately had Gortash hitting me up to watch him be crowned super duper duke of everything Baldur's Gate
Having heard that you shouldn't sleep after that because it'll just happen/people will wind up dead(??) I went inside, talked to Mizora who taunted Wyll because devil's gotta devil man, then explored the coronation room and triggered the coronation scene
Where naturally he tells me that Orin's infiltrated the camp teehee
We pick up the notification that Florick is in prison (scheduled to be executed)
And I head back downstairs and suddenly Mizora's like "Oh haha Wyll your Dad who you literally talked to five seconds ago has been banished to prison Imma visit you tonight at camp so we can chat"
And I'm like "well... shit", because that sounds like a nightly encounter.
So because I was quicksaving like a fiend during all of that, I backed up and experimented with seeing what happens if I long rested right after the coronation but before talking to Mizora, and suddenly I get the scene where Orin reveals who Ari's randomly selected kidnapping victim is: Lae'zel
I'm also presented with an insanely high (DC 25) persuasion/intimidation check in order to prevent WANTON CHILD MURDER. So I'm further like "well... crap", and so it seems that the moment Ari goes to long rest, kidnapping plot is on. Other fun things the internet seems to think will happen, but I can find no consensus on:
Can I walk past the coronation scene and put if off so it doesn't, you know, trigger the child murder DC check? Is it a proximity trigger? Or a timing trigger? Do I just not short/long rest before starting it?
Can I long rest and still have Wyll talk to Mizora post-coronation scene? Will that conflict with Orin's murdery murderness? Can I even walk off and do something else before walking back and triggering that?
Since I started the Open Hand Temple Murders and entered the lower city, if I long rest before warning the victims on the list, do they all die? I should probably do that right?
Apparently the poor circus dryad may not have had to die??? If I had just talked to two other people in Rivington first? RIP Dryad lady but that's way too far to go back and retrace our steps
If I trigger other things does that delay the kidnapping plot reveal? Because like, it kind of seems like maybe I should go save my kidnapped friend from being ritualistically murdered. But I'm getting conflicting information on: how safe kidnapping victim is for how long, if killing Orin triggers some endgame stuff and locks out other quests
Because if the answer to any/all of that is "uh yeah, get chopping", then before precious yodeling paladin can sleeps, she must:
Attend a coronation
Talk to a devil
Finish solving the murders
Find all the potential murder victims and warn them so maybe they don't die
Do a prison break
NOT trigger any more time and or proximity based missions
THEN save a tiny child from death by passing a very difficult DC check
Like game. I love you. I love you a lot. But this ridiculously interwoven web of intrigue without knowing if I'm going lock myself out of content or risk having to backtrack literal hours of progress is not super duper fun.
Also I really should've rolled back and gotten that super buff at the beginning of a day rather than near the end. So you know. She can have an extra +d6 to prevent the child murder.
My kingdom for a proper guide that lets me know when it's safe to, you know, sleep. Without people dying.

Let us consult the text of origin together:
youtube
My thoughts under the cut, but you can just enjoy the video.
General observations:
Let us never forget Rouge's wings are pink here. In sa2 they were black, they have since been purple. I think it's possible she covers her wings in some kind of think fabric or latex to match her outfits and maybe protect her - but primarily for the matchy matchy
In the shiny toy-ish style of heroes, Omega looks incredible. He looks so much better than everyone else.
Team Dark take in turns to be the most determined; it genuinely feels to me like they all do want this. Nobody is just in it for the loyalty or ride.
Team Dark should get to fight Team Rose. I would love them to duke it out with the Girl Scout commander and his two most loyal members.
Opening Cutscene:
First let us appreciate: Rouge just broke in to Eggman's again. Iirc she inserts herself into SA2 basically the same way. Plot driving queen.
It is odd to me that Rouge had no idea what she was finding, but did know the code. This 'happening upon' Shadow has always seemed strange to me and I am suspicious of it. It seems to me they might have wanted her to be looking for him, but bottled it at the last chance. Especially because she doesn't seem to be working for GUN here, this is just very convenient.
Omega is legitimately scary when he's first introduced, with a lot of the hallmarks of classic horror monsters in this first sighting of him (the close ups, the prey-through-predators eyes shot, all the action shots to keep you confused, minimal speaking etc.. I have no statement on this, it's just neat.
It must be quite a traumatising thing to wake up to, but Shadow takes little time to react. I really like that he doesn't recognize his name when Rouge says it.
It is weird to me Rouge just sits in shock at being shot. Was she not expecting a trap? Perhaps she got hit in the head or something?
Omega's aiming just before Rouge splits them up is so funny. I said I wouldn't use screenshots so this post doesn't become too slow to load but look at this:
Tumblr media
His hands just circle around wildly. Shadow is going straight for you. Either you're not aiming for him or you're not calibrated correctly my love.
Rouge's exhausted and shocked face is adorable and I love it so so so much. This is peak Rouge IMO
The fact we see Eggman's base trashed - loudly trashed - and he does nothing about it could be a first nod at his current predicament we see in the Chaotix story, but I may be reaching.
I love the start of the chorus as they're coming to an understanding. I love This Machine, maybe more than I love my boyfriend but not more than I love my cat. It's so up there though.
Rouge bounced Shadow off Imega when she scooped him over and he rebounds into a defensive stance. No notes just cute.
Shadow's eye roll as she makes them all put hands together. You just woke up how are you so sassy? Amazing. No notes.
The actual skipped conversation must have been quite short, since Shadow knows nothing and Omega is a new robot, but I hope it included Omega inteoducing himself at least a bit. They don't say his name in this cutscene, or Rouge's but the audience probably knows her. Its just odd to me because I feel like team sonic say eachothers name a lot, but my memory may be faulty.
Seaside Hill + Ocean Palace + Egg Hawk
"Immediate destruction if distracted." Omega fully threatens to kill them if they don't work hard enough. I am not complaining, but he is a scary boy and we should remember this.
We should have known this wasn't Eggman because he reacts to Omega (an obvious E series robot) and not Shadow (a literal living weapon he had had locked away that should not be walking around). But me personally was a dumb kid who was too bad at video games to get to play team darks story before I had to go home so here we are.
Grand Metropolis + Power Plant + TC
Rouge has the least reason to be targetting Eggman, but she is quite determined here. I would suppose it is on behalf of Shadow, since she doesn't know Omega that well to be heart broken for his plight. It's nice to see that she too expresses her sentiment by violence, something often reserved in fanon for Omega and arguably Shadow.
Further to the above: she starts a fight with Team Chaotix literally and only because she is in a fighty mood. They were fr walking away, minding their own business. I also think that Espio's assumption that they might have it in for the client is valid, since they've probably been jumped by enemies of clients before. Rouge is literally just on a warpath and mad at the world. Iconic of her.
Casino Park + Bingo Highway + Robot Carnival
I do wonder what Rouge was wondering. If she was wrong, perhaps? Or what the Chaotix were doing? She couldn't suspect they're working for Eggman, could she?
Omega works in metres because he is no fool
Shadow is actually very calm talking to Eggman here. It suggests that either Rouge has not filled him in on anything much about Eggman, and/or he wants to learn for himself and isn't taking her and Omega's hatred at face value. This may make him seem a bit dozy here, but I actually think it's a sign of how untrusting he is, and with good reason. I have often seen the take that Rouge should have told him what's going on, but I propose that it is possible she told him some, he didn't believe her easily, and so she stopped telling him before the crazier stuff, because he'd never believe that. A bit of a leap I know.
Rail Canyon + Bullet Station + Egg Albatross:
This is the first time I think Shadow seems really determined. I propose it's because Eggman snubbed and disregarded him, and that is literally a tortuable offense. Joking aside, it's nice to hear the change in his voice now he's more set on his target.
Rouge is less sure of herself now. Tbh, it's probably been a really stressful day for her. She may need a rest.
Shadow offering Omega his revenge instead of fighting him for it is a nice touch. What a good team player!
Omega's shaking fist at the fake Eggman gets me. I love it. It's so ott and goofy but also a great way to communicate with his limited face.
The Shadow Android scene is actually quite frightening, like with Omega's introduction it has a little touch of horror. Imagine how you'd feel, if it were my android clone I would feel pretty nauseous and scared.
'Ultimate Life Form Data' - Metal answers the question of 'is Shadow a Robot?' As soon as it was asked, but nobody has ever listened to Metal Sonic about anything, and they aren't about to start today 🥰❤️. But did Metal know what Shadow was? We presume it had seen the Shandroids, and knew they weren't him, otherwise Metal would have just copied one of them.
(Frog Forest + Lost Jungle) + TS
"Talk about being stubborn and full of surprises" is so uncalled for from Shadow's perspective. He's never met this guy, how dare he read him like that.
This fight is so stupid, I almost believe it's just them being friendly. You know Sonic's pretty freaked out at seeing Shadow again, but I have had kittens before and sometimes they just have to show their excitement with biting. I think this might be that? Because Rouge left no particularly bad blood with Sonic. Now if she and Knuckles started it, I would understand the hostility, but Shadow and Sonic totally start this one.
Do you think Sonic felt bad that he went straight in to fight Shadow when Shadow fully just had no facts in his head to help him make good choices? I'd feel bad lol.
Hang Castle + Mystic Mansion + Robot Storm
Shadow tefuses to answer Rouge's question then proceeds to loudly answer it to himself with her just metres away. Keep being you, Shadow.
I like that they refer to Omega to ask if it's the real one, even though he can't - nice team trust moment.
Egg Fleet + Final Fortress + Egg Emperor
'Even if I'm not real - I'm still the Ultimate Life Form' resolving Shadow the Hedgehog (2005) before it even begins. In seriousness, it's quite a contradictory statement, probably because he doesn't know much about what that means. Has Rouge told him? We haven't seen someone explain that in the cutscenes, so I presume so.
Rouge immediately turning away from Eggman's body is so funny to me. 'K cool bye'
The first time I'd forgiven her not seeing that it was clearly Shadow in the goo. But Rouge, come on now. Why would they all be the exact same alien goo container with a spiky starshaped thing in them? You have seen Shadow Android. This shock is not necessary.
Why is there not enough goo to cover the ears? They can hear you guys.
'Hey Omega, did I ever tell you that Shadow is a Robot? And, well, nevermind - good luck." ARE YOU TRYING TO GET HIM KILLED? I also have to presume she genuinely believes this here. It's such a weird line.
Omega is so smart. He has been dumbed down of late, but he's not stupid anywhere here. It is perfectly reasonable to assume that the one kept separately with it's own guard robot is at least more important than all these mass stored without an E unit dedicated to protecting it.
"Some things never change, do they?" How would you know? Did she tell you this? That's such a funny portrait of herself for Rouge to paint. Forever unsuccessfully trying to steal chaos and master emeralds, generally predisposed to being rude and disobedient? Or did he just observe that himself.
They leave it off like Omega may not be a recurring character from here. I wonder if they weren't sure if he'd be liked, since in SA2 they killed off a character that ended up being the most popular thing they'd made since the series began. Nobody is competing with Shadow's cult fanbase, but I wish more people like me loved big robot boy.

The town believed what the lab wanted them to believe, they probably communicated false info, fake timing, etc. As for Victor: let’s say he woke up from his trance, saw his children’s bodies (either Henry is faking coma to frame his dad or was really exhausted from the MF possession), panicked, left this bloody house and was later arrested by the police. Meanwhile, Henry woke up, went to the school and back under Brenner’s control who decided to cover up his murders. Problem solved!
Honestly I think writers know that supposed plot holes are easy to solve, these details aren’t important, imo, what matters are the big ideas and new interactions introduced each season or in the play ( in the latter case: Henry/the MF, Henry/Patty, Henry/Brenner, and to a lesser extent, Henry/Joyce). Btw, it doesn’t diminish Will’s relevance at all, on the contrary, there’s also a clear parallel between what happened to young Henry and S1 Will that may likely resurface in S5.
Again, it's not what the town "believed". It was stated in the show that Victor killed his whole family that day. The news. The people. Everyone. It's not like there's some conspiracy going around like "But actually his son lived." Everyone in town believed they all died because they were never seen again and Victor was locked up.
Yet in the play, Henry shows up at school the day after just so Joyce can tell him it wasn't his fault?
The government may be powerful but I doubt they're powerful enough to erase the memories of everyone who saw Henry the day after the massacre still alive and attending school?
It simply does not match what was presented in the show. What they're doing to do with that I don't know, but I personally will disregard that conflict and go with what the show said happened. Henry was taken into custody that night by Brenner and was never seen or heard from again so Hawkins believes he's dead too. (other than Patty I guess but that's about it imo)
This tidbit of the story didn't even need to be made so complicated. Henry passing out/going into a small coma because of overuse of his power perfectly lines up with what El experiences when she overexerts herself. It makes total sense that Brenner would swoop in during the confusion and take Henry away, covering up the kidnapping by saying Henry was also killed by Victor. So easy and simple and self explanatory that I'm just not going to bother coming up with more complicated reasonings.
It was seemingly changed to give Joyce a small part in the story and it's a typical prequealism I'm personally not fond of.
Joyce could've still had a "It wasn't him" moment and believed it fully without needing Henry to be literally present. If this is supposed to be a relevant plot point later, all he'd have to do is look in Joyce's head just like he does everyone else and see that she really thought he was a good kid.
Rewriting such a simple plot point to force some interaction between them feels like spoon feeding the audience "Joyce is good actually" or "Joyce is naive", whatever point they were trying to get across with that.
Then again, that is the nature of a stage play. Some things need to be over-exaggerated because it's not filmed like a tv show or movie. I don' t know to explain it other than I feel like a stage play requires extra exposition.

i had a dream about a strange and kinda angsty willumity au. kinda ooc, but that's to be expected from a literal dream. i found it very compelling nonetheless, so i wrote it down. (also put the events in order and omitted all the confusing Dream Nonsense and unrelated subplots, so that this would read like an interesting and coherent narrative, lol)
i think it took place around early to mid-s2, but like, none of the belos plot was happening
and it was ambiguous as to whether amity and luz had gotten together yet but i'm gonna say they weren't for the sake of narrative coherency. amity might've even still had her green hair?
luz had gone missing unexpectedly.
she was missing for months and there were no leads (they -especially eda and king- had searched pretty much everywhere and exhausted every possibility before giving up) and everybody had kinda started mourning
but amity was still super in the denial phase of grief and was still looking
and willow decided to help amity keep looking.
a bit because she saw that nobody's "it's time to move on" type of advice was helping amity, so maybe amity just needed someone with her while she worked through the denial phase. but a bit because she herself wasn't quite ready to give up the search either.
and willow commiserated with amity. told her that she kinda had a crush on luz too, though unlike amity, willow figured she'd never actually end up dating luz and had accepted that. she had just hoped luz and amity would get to be happy together
and amity was like "no, willow, honestly you deserve her more than i ever did"
and willow was like "nah, i'm not being hard on myself here. i just mean you two had pretty serious feelings about each other, and my crush on her was just a casual thing. i was perfectly happy to be platonic friends with her. i even kinda had a crush on someone else, too -though i knew those feelings won't go anywhere either" (and there were like, strong implications that willow was greyromantic?)
and amity was like "i don't know who that second person is but they'd be an idiot to turn down someone as beautiful and kind and strong and perfect as you"
and willow was like "hey, ams, you just called yourself an idiot"
and it took amity a minute to process before she realized. and there was an awkward silence before amity spoke up.
she said that when they were kids, she had a tiny crush on willow. it was never serious, of course, because things like that when you're that young never really are, but it was there. but she had to stomp out those feelings when she was forced to stop being willow's friend. and that lately she'd just been focused on her crush on luz (her first serious crush) and trying to just get her and willow's *friendship* back together. but, she said, in another world where things were just a little bit different, she knew she'd be in love with willow.
and they stayed there in near silence the rest of the night, searching for clues about where luz went, talking only when necessary
but at the end of the night willow pulled amity aside and said something like. "listen, i know it would probably be unhealthy long-term, but it might make us both feel better for now if we dated each other to try to fill that void. and then we can just break up if -no, *when*- we find luz, or if we're ready to move on or decide it's not helping us anymore,."
and amity actually agreed.
and then there was a series of scenes of their relationship and their search for luz and. their relationship was unexpectedly sweet for something whose original basis was "let's use each other to numb the pain while we search fruitlessly for our possibly dead mutual friend/crush"
it was a lot of comforting each other. holding each other while they cried. amity getting willow to open up when she tried to hide her pain and providing support. willow taking care of amity/convincing amity to take care of herself when she got too wrapped up in the search to tend to her basic needs
but they also made each other happy. there was handholding and soft smiles and sometimes even laughter.
at one point, willow gave amity the nickname "gooey" because she was frequently covered in abomination goo (taking after her father there, lol) because she didn't have it in her to take care of herself and keep clean (willow often ended up cleaning off amity's face and hands and brushing her hair)
and amity started using that nickname back at willow because "you're warm and soft and sweet like the gooey center of a fresh baked cookie"
and they built this little secret hideout to do their research in. the vibes were a weird mix of amity's secret library room, the fort amity and willow built on the beach as kids, phillip's cave, the night market, and that place where luz first met the catts. there might've been a little A+W flag on the outside like on their childhood fort
but as sweet as it all was, luz's absence was a constant tangible presence in their relationship. i mean, it was the original reason they got together. almost all their time was spent looking for luz, crying over luz, worrying about luz. they'd ask themselves "what would luz do?" or look over for a third opinion in their conversation to see that no one was there. a third chair sat empty at all times in their hideout. they spoke about how luz getting amity on the right track was what allowed any of their relationship to happen.
things seemed more and more hopeless the longer they looked, the more dead ends they ran into, and the less evidence they could find. but neither of them wanted to admit it. neither of them were ready to let go of luz. and they both knew the other wasn't ready either, and didn't wanna be the one to dash their partner's hopes by giving up.
and neither of them wanted to be the one to admit it, but they were both scared that looking for luz was the only thing keeping their relationship together, that the other would leave once they lost that shared goal. or that their relationship was still just a way to cope, and once they fully got over luz, they'd have to break up.
but of course that wasn't true. they'd both genuinely grown to love one another, to want to keep the relationship alive no matter what.
one night they were sitting in their hideout. looking closely through things they found in the woods where luz was last seen, through her belongings, through her journals. they were leaning close against each other, faces lit by a magic fire in the center of the room. this was not at all uncommon
but this time, willow spoke up. "i like what we've got going on here. it's nice, being here with you."
amity didn't quite get it. "yeah, i like our hideout too. i love how you made sure it wasn't too bright or too loud. it'll be nice for when we find luz, with how easily she gets overloaded by lights and sounds sometimes. well, how easily i get overloaded too. and i love how you always keep it warm just for me; you remembered how easily i get cold." she curled in closer to her girlfriend's warm arms and stretched her legs out towards the fire
"i like this place too, but that's not really what i meant," said willow. "i mean i'm glad i'm here with *you*. i love-" she wasn't ready to say i love you yet "-i love our relationship."
"oh." amity blushed. "i... i love us too. i didn't know if you felt the same way. i love having you here with me, having a girlfriend that remembers how easily i get overwhelmed and cold and makes sure to keep me comfortable and warm."
willow held amity close. "i know we agreed that we'd break up once we found luz. and then i figure the two of you would continue whatever it was that you had going on. but i don't want to break up if we find her anymore."
"willow, i don't want that either. i still have feelings for luz, but you're not a replacement for her. what we have here is real and i'm not going to throw it away. i won't date her unless it's all three of us. if that's okay with you."
"i'd like that."
amity continued looking at the evidence, jotting down notes, while willow stood up to tend to the fire. suddenly, amity put the last pieces together and jumped up.
the items they found scattered in the woods matched perfectly with luz's notes about what materials she'd need to build a portal. combined with the lack of remains and no sign of struggle, amity was certain; luz wasn't killed or kidnapped, she accidentally fell through a half-finshed portal. there was a chance she was still alive, somewhere. luz might be alive. amity and willow might actually get their friend and possibly-future-girlfriend back

Do I write fanfiction because I genuinely still enjoy the fandom... or am I holding on to something I am long overdue letting go of in favour of finally pursuing my original works full-time?
Because I adore the TLH cast, truly. But I think I’m exhausted now. All the rants about character endings, themes that did not carry over and arcs that did not resolve, frustration over seeing all the more optimistic views when I’m still raging over the disservice to certain characters -- I think I may be done now. Or maybe just FOR now. Characters can belong to a fandom and interpretations to fan authors, but... they don’t feel like mine anymore.
Am I here for the community? Is that it?
It feels wrong to abandon my fics while they remain incomplete. I literally have a full outline for WBITHOM and could tell you what happens in each chapter and what the ending is right now. I’ve just lost the will to write it out in proper form. What does my work mean to anyone anyway? It’s only a wish fulfilment self-insert at the end of the day.
How many times CAN I read about these characters without thinking about what everyone else’s thoughts are, the news of what CC has planned, the fact that TLH has ended and it was kind of a flop no matter how satisfied a large number of people may be and that TWP is next and much more hyped?
The TSC universe has endless possibilities (I still think about sea faring Shadowhunters thanks to discussions with @thevagabondexpress) and yet it feels kind of like it’s running dry. For me, at least. There are still fanfics I like to read; I just don’t think I can write my own. And I’m not that excited about the future installments to canon.
CC follows a formula and the only time she truly feels unpredictable is when she pulls the kind of stunts we saw in TLH where characters were killed for shock value, another character acts as a convenient fix-up for the infamous family tree, characters who were supposed to be best friends but didn’t spend enough time together to feel that close at all, red herrings for character deaths everywhere, just... for crying out loud, everything ended a little Too Well, barring Kit’s death and the anticlimactic deaths of our antagonists (Tatiana’s defeat could have been MUCH cooler). What happened to the promise that it’d be more emotional than TID? Sure, I sobbed when Kit died but that was because it was unexpected, unfair, and he reminded me of someone who I cared about. But that was it. I felt so empty after that when I was reading. I got to the end of the novel and while, yes, it was bittersweet -- it just wasn’t satisfying. I was not satisfied.
ChOT felt cheap. I’ll say it. So many plot beats and decisions felt cheap.
None of my fanfics work to repair any of that. They feel pointless. Why do I bother writing then? My fics change some things -- for instance: Cordelia’s lack of knowledge, letting Matthew actually have something significant and life-changing happen to him in a way that is meant to better his life in the long-term, James actually having more of an identity crisis, him and Matthew having more connection moments -- but does anyone really care about that? I have no idea.
So, I feel like I’m not contributing anything. Therefore, this is either a “I’m done writing fanfic for now” or “I’m hungry and on my period and something will inspire me when I least expect it and you’ll probably see an update sooner than later”. I don’t know. My fic feels like a lot of effort for very little self-satisfaction. I don’t feel that proud of it or many others I’ve done, if that makes sense.

Stranger Things Vol 2:
Things about volume 2 (some volume 1) that I want to say and no friends to say it to:
I APOLOGISE IF THIS IS A MESS TO READ, IM JUST SO OVERWHELMED BY THE BAD WRITING AND PACING. If I’m missing anything, please add it by replying.
Anyway, I’m off to read fix-it-fics ✌️
Eddie:
EDDIE, EDDIE, EDDIE.
I LOVE YOU.
WHY DO I ALWAYS SIMP FOR CHARACTERS THAT DIE ON SCREEN!
Dedicating Metallica to Chrissy was EVERYTHING. Had me shipping them with five minutes of screen time.
In my opinion though, he was one of the characters who was done so dirty.
He literally died for a town that hated him and it resulted in nothing.
He died to give more time to Steve, Nancy and Robin. Okay, that’s brave of him, I’m PROUD of him. HOWEVER. He stayed behind because he didn’t want to run. Then he ran and stopped because he didn’t want to run. Very confusion. Then the demobats circled him for what felt like years and weren’t attacking. The pacing of the show was so bad that the tension goes with it. Then Steve, Nancy and Robin were pinned to the wall and were being choked out by the hive mind for however long… it should have killed them. I just don’t think they needed the time.
The news reporters continue to use Eddie as the reason for all this happening. So it really feels like Eddie died for nothing. If they actually cared, I would want them to expose the lab and the real reason so Eddie didn’t die for nothing.
Like ALL that black and red smoke?! The CONSEQUENCES of the lab?! Hawkins deserves the truth after everything.
Max:
I WAS SINGING FOR YOU GIRLY!
Her scenes were probably one of the few saving grace’s of volume 2 as well.
Sadie’s acting is incredible.
I didn’t think they’d kill off any of the kids, but as much as I hate to say it… I think Max dying would make sense.
Again, I love her. Jason is a prick, rest in pieces.
But I think Max dying would make sense purely because WHERE DID ELEVEN FIND THE POWER TO RESURRECT PEOPLE?!?
Max may be alive now, but what if she feels more like a ghost again next season. She couldn’t feel anything (luckily the doctor’s can fix broken bones) but they can’t fix her sight. And I’m worried she’ll feel ten times worse next season.
Also Duffers… where was her mother? Like her daughter is missing for days, is in hospital due to broken bones, lack of eyesight and clinically dead for a few minutes. They couldn’t put her sitting in the corner of the room?!?
She’s been through so much but the Duffer Brothers are literally dragging her through so much more shit that what she needs.
Eleven:
I’m aware that the California Crew didn’t have the means to get to Hawkins BUT they felt really useless… all but El.
I loved the plot she was given… not so thrilled about her new power to resurrect the dead though.
I’m happy she’s free from Brenner and that she’s reunited with Hopper.
Millie ATE her scenes.
One of the few things about this season, where the pacing was executed properly and didn’t feel out of place.
Will:
THE QUEERBAITING AFTER PRIDE MONTH?!?
So what if it’s the 80s? It’s a fictional town with fictional and supernatural occurrences. Robin came out easy peasy (still hate how it felt like a plot twist).
Every time Will cried, I cried. Poor boy needs a hug and so do I. I don’t know how to recover from this.
Other Characters:
It’s late and I’m exhausted from what volume 2 did to me… so let’s wrap this up.
Argyle was a much needed addition. Served more purpose to me than Jonathan, Mike and Will. I love them but no. It just wasn’t their season to shine.
Mike… thanks for saying you love El I guess.
Jonathan is the best sibling on the show by miles. Minor problem with the ending and how he and Nancy started off super weird and at the end they brushed it aside really quickly.
Will, honey, we both need hugs.
Dustin… let me just say Gaten’s acting is unbelievable. He cried, I cried with him. Again the show drew away the tension so while I was trying to be sad for Eddie it was hard because of the pacing. But Gaten’s acting really got the emotions going. And that scene with Wayne… amazing. I cried twice during this show and his talk with Wayne was one of them.
Lucas, I stand by him always. Every decision his character made, I 100% agreed with from start to finish. My Lumax heart broke when Max died and he couldn’t save her. He never left her side and that was beautiful. They are probably the best ship on the show.
Steve had me thinking he was going to die with the way he spoke about the future this season. So happy he is alive and that they referenced Mama Steve. Not so happy about the Nancy plot. He also felt underplayed from the start :/
Nancy is also one of the few characters done right this season. She came in clutch with the plans and wasted no time. Minor problem with the ending and how she and Jonathan started off super weird and at the end they brushed it aside really quickly.
Robin, Robin, Robin. The apple of my eye. At first I was skeptical that her character went from cool and breezy to socially anxious but it worked really well. Kinda hoping the klutz aspect would play in more but it’s okay.
Erica as always is amazing. Slightly concerned that they let a kid who didn’t fully need to be involved, be as involved as she was. Anyway Erica kicking ass is iconic.
MURRAY IM SO HAPPY HE IS ALIVE THATS ALL I CARE ABOUT. There’s not enough appreciation for Murray but omg he was givinggggg. I love him.
Joyce is never wrong. Ever. Never doubt that woman. Joyce and Murray’s team up was brilliant (can you tell I’m running out of new adjectives for everyone). Her reunion with Hopper was chef’s kiss. Also the matching clothes were cute.
( I won’t lie, when I rewatched volume 1, I skipped a lot of the Russia scenes because again the writing.)
Hopper being a low-key corrupt cop with the police brutality last season and then later bribing Antonov to get out of the prison had me laughing. Ofc he would. He was so smart with everything play he made though. His reunion with Joyce and El, were one of the very much needed things to save this season for me. But again THE MATCHING CLOTHES WERE SO CUTE (I know they didn’t have anything else but still.)
Antonov, I kinda thought he would be one of the five to die… only because he had his character arc and that there’s nothing really there for him in America… he’s hot though.
Brenner… man you fucked up big time.
VECNA is actually so interesting. My jaw dropped hearing the reveal that it was in fact Henry who was 1 who was Vecna. The only issue with volume 2 vecna I’d say issssss when Mike was giving his love speech to El, Vecna could literally have killed Max three times over (not that it’s vecna’s fault more like the script’s.)
The bio parents on this show always disappoint me. Not you Joyce. And why did Karen have a poster please?! The theories on the show were a lot better. I don’t even want to talk about Jason or his friends. They just made every situation worse.
Justice for everyone honestly.

Reconnected. More lies. Disconnected.
Poorly written note to self. Your hand feels like it's on fire but you wrote this because it matters. Do not ignore it. Do not forget the pain and how bad it was.
She chose to keep following the guy. Yo he must be a creator "my guy" and she chose that bum instead of you. She chose the circle. She never once cared about you over them. This has always been the case.
In the end she admitted that private chats happened between them. The fact she lied about that in the first place is insane. She hid 25 guys from you. You watched as she bought time delaying things acting like she had questions or was confused, while you watched those numbers drop. From 691 to 666. The sign right there. Then she removed another to get rid of the sign. One of them guys, the first to come back that you know of. More possibly as she was replacing unfollows with her guys. The one she hid and brought back was also in the dms. She conveniently deletes chats after she has them apparently. Nobody is dumb enough to believe that. So even in the end she tried to make you a mug and lie. She deletes them to hide them. But probably still has them like Dan's, just a safety net justification to delete them later and say they were always deleted, in case one day I ask her to prove it. Her plots are deep. She can't say it's the past don't question it. She can't say God is on her side on this.
She never earned trust and never respected you with truth. Remember that.
The last day we ever spoke, all she had to say was I choose you, not them. They can go. I want to keep you.
But be honest, with a chance that you might not live too long in a worst case, and the lifestyle might not be the same in a bad case, it's a decision she made for herself. She went with the bum instead. So you better get better because we are not letting these bums slide with this one. They will have to answer to you soon. We will have a chat. It won't be friendly. But it will put things in their place in real life. And never ever trust that liar again. No matter how much you love her to bits, no matter how much even right now you want to call her. So badly you were about to delete this and call her. Why? She chooses lies. She chooses other men. She is probably gonna be talking to them again tomorrow. You fucking idiot. Don't believe the bs about how you addressed the lies and the words you chose were so bad. She fucking lied. Over and over. Nothing was true. The final proof was today. Her choices and decisions to keep that guy ove you, she knew the risk of losing you. Even when you told her that's the decision, she didn't undollow him and say decision made. She chose him. So that final lie you were terrified of. It's real. The love was a lie. That's the moat important lie you learned of today. The love can be nothing but a lie, or she is more in love with someone else. There's no other way she made that decision. Don't you ever fucking forget. She took screenshots if your worst times and called it "content". And you took it. You fucking took that and stayed. When you proved you started the topic kindly, she denied it still. Even with proof. And that being the topic of the man she chose. And she ran when she realised the lies can't be contained. Highschool boy. Toxic. Liar. The things you are for asking questions. The liar is entitled but if you don't kneel and kiss the floor before you ask, you are the wrong one. It's not for charity. They just talk and debate mostly. It started with a lie that it was just charity. Truth is she just followed him and the others and wouldn't ever leave that. Not for you. Tiktok is her new tumblr.
She mocked your sorry like you were a bitch to say it. She mocked your pain and said man up, she mocked your exhausted body and mind thay doctors literally say they are moved by how positive and strong you are. Remarkable he said. Remarkable strength and recovery. But she told you stop feeling sorry for yourself. What else did you expect.
She is in love with love, it doesn't necessarily have to be you. Wake the fuck up and get on with your life. Recover. Get better. And live, don't just be alive. You have the means for such an amazing life. Fucking live! She did alll of this, in your lowest time or your life. God literally showed you over and over. You actually stayed so long she killed it off herself because you didn't have the sense to stay away despite the proof. Fuck love. Hers is fake and yours is delusional and covered by her lies, deceit and pure selfish betrayal.
Get better. Promise me you'll get better. You owe so much to the little boy you once were. You were always robbed of something. Do it for him now. There's no elders left that believe in you or fill those voids. You have to be him now. "Man up".

Chapter 101
I land between them, and I do what Hudson’s been begging me to do. I throw my arms up in the universal gesture for stop and scream, “No!” from the very depths of my soul.
Chapter 101 summary: The beast comes alive and the rest of the chapter is what one might call a “clusterfuck”. There’s fighting, there’s a lot of “Move! Get out of there!” Plot? Hahaha. No. There’s none of that, don’t be absurd.
Hudson eventually tells Grace to talk to the thing; can’t she hear it? Grace turns to go save Macy, but Xavier gets between the monster and Macy, and ends up being slammed so hard into the wall, he probably died before Grace screams at the monster to stop.
Chapter 102
She whispers a spell under her breath and shoots a bolt of lightning straight at the chain tethering the gargoyle to the wall.
Chapter 102 summary: The thing stops moving, and Grace realizes with dawning horror that she has been hearing this voice inside of her head. She’d thought that it was her gargoyle self, but she realizes now that it wasn’t inside of her, but rather, this thing. Which is another gargoyle. Which is why little of what they’d tried to do to it was working.
Anyway, so Xavier is dead. Hudson inside of Grace’s mind reminds her that they have to get back to the school so that they can finally take down Cyril. But first, Grace needs to free the gargoyle. The thing keeps whimpering about protecting a mystery “her”. Macy uses her magic on the chains keeping the gargoyle there.
Chapter 103
“Grace.” Jaxon leans against the wall to steady himself. “I know you’re upset, but you need to take it.”
“I’m not taking it,” I tell him, bowing my head in a silent thank-you to my kin. “I’m not killing this gargoyle, Jaxon.”
“When you calm down, you’re going to regret this.”
Holy fucking shit, do you even hear yourself right now? “Simply kill a member of your own species. Go on! Kill him! SIMPLY KILL HIM.”
And people wonder why Grace ended up with Hudson.
“This isn’t on you,” Jaxon tells me, voice hoarse and eyes bruised with pain and exhaustion. “I pushed for this. I insisted that we come. I didn’t listen to your doubts. This is my fault. If I had just—”
Not even five minutes ago, he was yelling at her over her refusal to kill the other gargoyle and take the heartstone. He doesn’t get to have regrets coming here now that reality over Xavier’s death is making itself known.
For long seconds, none of us moves. Instead, we stand transfixed by the power and the responsibility of her words. At least until she raises an eyebrow and says, “Or do I have to do this all by myself?”
Chapter 103 summary: Anyway, nothing any of them do has any effect on the chains, so Grace promises that they’ll come back later to help free him. He asks her why she’d come at all, and she tells him about needing the heartstone. However, as you can imagine, since the monster is a giant rock creature, obviously the heart is literal in this instance. Jaxon yells at Grace for her refusal to kill the other gargoyle.
They all stumble away from the area, in insanely bad shape. Grace has no idea how they’re going to go face Cyril’s chosen ones in less than three hours, let alone how they’re going to even get back to the school. Flint has a broken leg, and one of Eden’s wings is broken.
Jaxon suddenly has so many regrets, which I find fucking laughable. Xavier is dead because of their over-inflated egos, and refusal to listen to the singular voice of reason.
However, Macy knows that there’s more at stake here than her dead, almost boyfriend. She says that they have to get back to the school and get Grace on the council.
Chapter 104
Until there is no more us, only the light and energy and air that we’ve become.
Chapter 104 summary: Macy does a spell involving crystal, a dagger, and some light. I don’t know what’s happening, and I’m at the point where I have no more shits to give.
