Are there any sonic au’s you would recommend? I am trying to find more to get into so would love to know if you have any favourites out there :D

Hello! Oh there are so many! :D I definitely have some favorites and some which aren't favs but are pretty great.

Putting these under the cut because there are so many! And there's definitely more cool AUs that I haven't seen or haven't saved.

Anyways, please enjoy my personal selection:

Seven Years Too Soon by NightFuchia. Basically what if a much younger Sonic accidentally set Shadow free from Prison Island. It has awesome characterization and happens to be one of my favorite stories. The rest of Team Sonic is also present

Brotherhood's Twist by @/drawloverlala even though I don't think it counts entirely as Au but it still sort of does. Unbreakable Bond ageswitch due to Zeti's meddling.

Passion's @sonic-tangled-au . I love it! So very much. The lore and backstories are so good.

Noonui's World Restored in Imbalanced Chaos au. Extremely engaging and good. Has a bunch of world building and fun concepts and lore.

Sonic's Super Totally Awesome Mixtape, though it seems to be discontinued, I'm not sure. It's pretty good so far! Takes place in the movie verse.

@brainworms-all-night-long is working on a Dreamtale Au which I'm hyped for. The tag in use is 'dreamtale and sonic tomfoolery'.

@/the-starlight-project comic is pretty good too. Mystery! And emotions. So many emotions ough.

And there's @the-emerald-isle-au by @0vergrowngraveyard . Very intriguing. 👀

The Fair Folk by Irritable_Fabulamancer, this fic is one of my favorites! Team Sonic as Fae my beloved! I love fae AUs.

On that note, if you're alright wanting to read a Fae!AU which is pretty much a sonadow fic, there is also I don't believe in fairy tales [but I believe in you and me]. Fantasy and Fae! Satbk inspired, another one that had me hooked.

My Arms Are Blue by thekyuubivixen and its unofficial, fan-continuation (My Arms Are Blue! Final Four Edition) by PlaystationPassenger. The story doesn't completely count as an AU but I'm recommending them anyway cuz they're really really good and has that watching your own show from different dimension trope. It's also hilarious and fun.

Burning Arrow, Wildfire Heart by Taranea is SatSR novelisation AU with Sonic's other friends present too, it's pretty fun. Not very accurate regarding the desert but it's a good read and I come back to reread it often. Must read in my opinion. Just don't dare use it as guide for desert travel or you'll be shriveled up in the sand somewhere

This fic. Read it, I will not elaborate this one. Just trust me :]

And don't miss out on @shadofiredragon's Legends Never Die fic. It's a future fic! And an awesome one. I won't spoil much but it is so good. She also has lots of fun AUs in the works.

Down the Foxhole series by MoonlitNightin. Sonic Prime AU series which is great! Tails' pov. The Shatterverses have their own Sonics. Engaging and great.

Feel free to check out @/Son1c's 10verse and other AUs. Those are some pretty great ones. Love the different lore and variants given to the Shatterverses in 10verse.

Spirit of the Wind by TrenchCoatGecko. Satbk inspired fantasy au. Sonamy, has focus on magic and lore and other characters as well.

Chaos Barren by but_why_not. I forgot to add this earlier (this is an edited addition). Takes place in the Blue Devils AU, great story!

Feral au by Oneshot_bravo. Little short stories or drabbles taking place in Unleashed but the werehog is feral yet keeps his memories. Very lighthearted and fun and cute

Haven't yet started reading The Fox's Burrow by @/space-gutz but I'm planning to. Recommending it either way cuz I feel like it's gonna be good. Unbreakable Bond but ageswaped au.

@/sonicchaoscontrol comic. Another in-progress au which is also quite intriguing. Sonic jumps through a portal and exits in future where the planet is a mess. The mystery of what and how it all happened and what's going on slowly unfolds.

The Buzzsaw Dillemma by redpenship. I haven't personally read it myself but I've heard many good things about it, especially it's world building.

Incomplete and won't be updated anymore but if you haven't read them yet, DO NOT miss out on Ghosts of the Future and The Murder of Me fancomics by Evan Stanley (spiritsonic) and Gigi Deutrix (gigi-D) respectively. They're a must read. Both are available on DeviantArt.

The Heart of a Monster comic, @/the-heart-of-a-monster. It's in progress and updates regularly. Unleashed retelling, really really good with some extra lore and everyone involved.

Sometimes the Picket Fence isn’t Perfect and Sharp Edges (Sonic Prime AU) series by @/skimmingthesurfaces. I'm holding off the first one to read later, like that one book you've been saving so I'm not sure if it completely counts as an AU, still putting it in recs, and the second one is intriguing so far. I have heard a lot of good thing about the Picket Fence series.

Dark Boom by Smash50. The entirety of Team Dark in the Sonic Boom universe. Alongside it, there's also Boomtober by the same author.

It Always Snows by the 24th by Selendred had me hooked even though it's a oneshot. Great au and would love to see it explored more.

No One said I Wish by SylWritesStuff. One of my fav stories from the Sonic Platonic Fairytale Week event. It's really funny.

Sonic Phantom Forces (SPF) au comic. Sonic Forces au, blue boy gets taken away but not in the way you think, pretty cool story so far. It's in-progress and available on both Tumblr and DeviantArt. @/spfau

If Black Doom tried to be a better father by Tirainy. Don't take this one seriously. It's pure comedy and I love every second of it. Shadow is having a time for sure XD.

Silent Talkers by @brainworms-all-night-long. Takes place in the Prime Bros verse, feels intensified, all the good ones. A must read, trust me.

And speaking of the Prime Bros AU (in which all Shatterverse foxes also got adopted by Sonic and are now brothers), feel free to scroll through the 'prime bros' tag here. So many awesome posts for this particular au by everyone!

There's so many more, cool ones, epic ones. I haven't saved all and I'm probably forgetting some great ones too so I'm leaving this open for others to add. If y'all have more cool AUs, plz add to these (I wanna check em out too)

Premonition by thekiyuubivixen (not entirely an au but it feels like one due to the unique ability Sonic gains)

The Sonic Project by SconnieSA. Rated M but it's a pretty awesome AU and the rating is due to more serious themes and uncensored language in some parts. Highly recommending this one

Survivor's Resolve by DC111. Not entirely an AU but I must rec this fic it's so good and doea havs some AU vibes.

Sonic the Hedgehog: Attorney of Law by thedraconicwerewolf. Ace Attorney type AU with Sonic and Tails as main characters. Not too adventurous but very very fun and interesting and still managed to keep Sonic in character. Though it has a sequel started, I only rec the main story, not the sequal as it seems to be abandoned and isn't needed to be read like them cliffhanger stories.

beLIEve by Meow21. I have only read snippets from this, waiting for this story to continue but it seems to be discontinued. Felt like an epic story too and deserves to be recommended.

Sonic and the Golden Journey. Sonic gets thrown in another storybook, this time it's a children's classic fairytale. Short but very comedic and fun. Go read it.

Tales of a Samurai. I am begging you to read this one, please it's so good. Also by Taranea.

Wonderful and it's sequal Sanctuary by Inflamore for some Unbreakable Bond angst. (Kindly ignore the obliviousness of earlier ff.net for not knowing the meaning of certain symbols, there's nothing of the sort in story, trust me.)

Regrets by MazzyBooks. A high school au of sorts. Sonic centric with some heavy angst. I'm not kidding about the angst part, trust me. It had me hooked from the first chapter though and I believe it deserves a rec.

You need the cracks (to let the light shine through) by king.needlemouse. Istg this is the most underrated thing I've ever come across, it's one of my absolute favorite fics which I can never forget. Do read it.

Within this Nightmare by sonicfan1990. Sonic get transported to an alternate universe which has gone post apocalyptic and his counterpart in that universe has been dead. Pretty great story, lots of angst and everything.

And that's all I could remember and have saved for now. I'm leaving this open to more AU recs (yes even self plugs are welcome) so if you know any I missed, plz feel free to add. I hope you enjoy all these great AUs!

ough wait okay you might've already answered this so forgive me BUT I know Belle says her favorite play is Romeo and Juliet, but does that change once she reads more, or does it remain her Number One because the attachment and love is just too strong?

GOSH ya know i truly think it does remain so very special in her heart. it comes up in this fic i wrote where she’s reading it to their baby daughter and adam is like come on man i give you a whole library and you STILL go back to that one. and she’s like AND WHAT ABOUT IT???🔪 it’s very cute 💙

anyway i mean gosh her horizon really expands from like 0 to 100 SO QUICKLY so i think for a long time she has a “new favorite” every week. new favorite author new favorite genre new favorite series. it changes constantlyyyy especially when she starts studying at the university of paris, she gets even MORE perspectives!!!!!! AGH!!!!!!!!!! that girl loves to explore and learn and read everything your honor. i think even when she’s 80 she still has a new favorite something of the week. (and her grumpy old husband still somehow loves to hear about it!!!)

but, belle is a nostalgic girlie. and she never forgets her roots. she wouldn’t dare!! she never forgets all those stormy nights in the village, sitting up in bed way too late, unable to sleep, with her knees bent up to her chest and the flame in the lantern flickering from the draft coming in through the crack in the window. her eyes welling up as she reads romeo and juliet confessing their love for one another. even knowing the tragedy that will ensue. even knowing it will never last. they bring her this perfect and beautiful hope, and fill her little romantic heart with all sorts of warm and fuzzy joy, helping her to believe that maybe there is someone out there who will understand her, love her even, amidst the adversity she is surrounded by.

so yes, even after she married her prince, and lived her own (so much better) happy ending, i think she still likes to revisit that story. it reminds her of who she used to be. it’s her way of giving her past self a hug, letting her know that everything truly works out for the best, and we really do get all the adventures of our dreams.

ough ok this is gonna be hard bc i unironically love every character in tgcf for one reason or another.

top 3 tgcf characters:

3. Shi Qingxuan/Jun Wu I did NOT expect Jun Wu to be on this list but I started writing my fic and I kind of fell in love with his character. He's an awful person who loves causing misery but at the same time there's something so painfully human about wanting so desperately to be understood by someone, anyone. I don't condone his actions but I'm here to watch. I love Shi Qingxuan for being genderfluid, brave and kind, and just so much fun. She brings unmatched energy into every scene she's in and I just love her.

2. Hua Cheng This one should be pretty obvious considering I made him my pfp on my art blog and refuse to stfu about him but god DAMN I just can't stop thinking about him. I love everything about him. His amazing fits. His incredibly powerful imagery. The way he's just so insane. His butterflies. The color red. The gender. Everything.

1. Xie Lian He's the one I draw the most for a reason. I have a thing for characters who choose kindness whenever they can, and I love Xie Lian for being able to ultimately decide that he does in fact want to use his godly powers to protect his believers and not to dominate them. He doesn't make that decision lightly—he knows what it's like to abuse his power for the sake of vengeance and he's seen what it's like when gods abuse their power for greed—he decides that being kind and benevolent is the path he wants to take because ultimately, it's love that keeps the world intact. Xie Lian is love, and I love him.

Honorable mentions: Mu Qing, Shi Wudu, He Xuan, Yushi Huang

top 3 svsss characters (bear with me because I am not super familiar with SVSSS)

3. Shang Qinghua I want to throw him against a wall (affectionate). I hate him. I love him but on a deeper level I hate him but on an even deeper level I love him. Just,, such a little shit

2. Zhuzi Lang He's a pathetic little meow meow with a fucked up sense of morality and objectively too many snakes. Someone get this guy a therapist and maybe a snack

1. Liu Qingge He's a hater through and through. I, too, find Bingqiu irritating. His "no Luo Binghes allowed" rule is perfection imo. And the way Shen Qingqiu can just call out his name and Liu Qingge will come out of literally nowhere with a flying kick?? Love that.

I honestly can't rank my top 3 moments from SVSSS because I don't remember it that well. Here are mine from TGCF though!

3. Jealous Xie Lian during the Blackwater arc Hua Cheng is like "my beloved is a noble, gracious special someone" and Xie Lian is like "ugh i hope they fucking die I MEAN I HOPE YOU THEY MAKE YOU SMILE." We don't really see jealous Xie Lian that often and it was really funny to see just how petty he got. He's usually really calm and collected and neutral about things but he was so intense here. Possibly because he was a bit hangry.

2. The Hualian confession Everything about it is just. hrmnksgnsf. I love it. I love the way they're kinda awkward after it but then they clear the air a bit and continue onwards while holding hands. I love the way Xie Lian confesses with a hug.

1. The bamboo hat/Xie Lian telling Bai Wuxiang to fuck off The moment where Xie Lian's faith in humanity is restored. And then Bai Wuxiang appears and tries to be all evil and Xie Lian just goes "fuck off you ugly mf you're blocking my sun" to the guy who's been haunting him nonstop for months on end. And Bai Wuxiang is so stunned that he gets a little desperate—so desperate that he starts a fight just so he can have an excuse to be "defeated" by Jun Wu. Man, I love that scene.

A brief snapeshot of Angel's life on Sanctuary.

i just wanted to write something and i have ideas but ough... writing's hard 3 and also im sick rn. rip. also! shocker, but i'm writing during the day...??!?!?!?! usually it's at like. 3 in the morning LOL also shoutout to MoodiestMags love the Rise to Grace series o7 <3 cw for mention of suicide

there's some stuff i wanted to mention in this ficlet - like the difference/similarity between Lilith + Angel wrt eridium addiction, and Moxxi and/or Roland at all (or a bit more) - but alas :'3 maybe in another ficlet or so

"Hey Angel, pass me that wrench?"

"Sure."

Angel's half-there in the moment, delving deep into code for additional defences for Sanctuary, but she still grabs the tool Gaige asks for and waves it in the other girl's direction.

"Thanks."

"Yep."

Six months and still Angel doesn't feel totally comfortable here. Mostly, but then, occasionally, she'd catch a glimpse of someone looking at her. Hyperion's Siren, she'd heard from one of the residents, and she'd never wanted to rid herself of her own face as much as she did then. She understands it, and it was more out of surprise then condemnation, but...

Then there was Lilith. And Mordecai and Brick. And Tiny Tina. And- to be honest... everyone. Everyone. Every Vault Hunter, every resident, everyone who knew of Handsome Jack-

But it's not like they go out of their way to make her feel unwelcome. Anymore.

Angel backs out of the code, closing her eyes and pinching the bridge of her nose. Progress has been made, she reminds herself; people don't quite regard her with such revulsion or contempt anymore (but they remember), and people talk to her, whether resident or Crimson Raider.

(She almost wishes Tim was here. She feels bad about that. She could fix it, if she just talks about it.)

DT beeps, and Angel hears Gaige shift out from where she was fixing up. She knows what's next; it's familiar now.

"You OK, Angel?"

"Yeah," she replies, rote. "Overthinking. You know."

She flinches when Gaige reaches out to rub her shoulder in comfort. A flinch, or trying to shrug her off, Angel could call it either-or, and for whatever reason: her father's ghost hangs over her shoulder like when he would try to calm or restrain her, and that's why she's flinching or rejecting this comfort, or perhaps because she doesn't deserve it, at least not yet. It's been a hard and steep hill to climb in such a short time.

Gaige isn't to be deterred, so wraps an arm around Angel's shoulders fully, pulling her into an awkward side hug. Angel acquiesces.

(She thinks of Tim's face in the shuttle.)

"You wanna come with me next time?"

"Vault Hunting?"

"Yeah! Or just hunting."

"Oh! Yeah, actually, I'd like to get out for a bit, whenever you go next."

(Her voice, cool: He's on his way to kidnap your Siren, sir.)

"Cool," Gaige says, grinning and playfully punching Angel's shoulder. The Siren fakes a pained groan. They both re-settle into the groove: code and machinery, side-by-side. Angel keeps a half a mind fantasizing about Vault Hunting for the pure joy of treasure-hunting, rather than as a means of exerting control over a planet's people. They're not even here of their own will, usually: prisoners or children of them, or deserted here. It's not their fault. Ah, c'mon now, back to the joy of hunting for fun.

(At the precise point where Handsome Jack could only deal with so many interferences at once, so he had Tim posted on the Jackpot. He'd live - for a time, at least.)

It'd be cool to see everyone in action while also being on the same playing field, instead of watching from "above". There again, Angel would be too busy keeping up to actually watch them. But it'd be cool all the same - being part of the team (so long as she doesn't fuck anything up, or not too badly), and proving her worth.

... Or just proving her potential as a Vault Hunter. Angel nods to herself; yes, potential. Maya said that her worth is more than what she can do for other people, that she is inherently worth being respected as another person. That was nice.

(He'd even outlive Handsome Jack.)

... Maybe... maybe after this next outing, whenever that is, she might mention Tim and the Jackpot. Moxxi'd be interested, she thinks.

(But not her.)

It's not a bad life here. She hopes to make it up to Tim.

31 Days of Productivity Reading: Day One

Before: I’ve been looking forward to this day, March first, specifically for this little reading challenge! I’ve been “saving” my books to read, which is at once a habit that I do often when something like this comes up and something I know I should kick the habit of. It’s not like I’ll run out of things to read. Ever. But to start out, let’s do a quick rehash of my goals for the month (don’t worry, this’ll be the only time I do this):

Finish No. 6 volume 3

Read 憎らしい彼

Read another novel (today I’m leaning towards 独り舞. Tomorrow? Who knows)

Read at least ten volumes of manga

Read at least an hour per day

[I'm putting the rest under a read more because it ended up being unusually long. ごめんね！]

For today’s plans, I’m going to walk to the library and get a bit of studying done. I’m in a huge Mandarin study mood and I think the long walk will be good for me, both mentally and physically. I’ll also probably read a bit at the library after I’ve finished studying. I’m starting off the month with No. 6 and if I still have some left over reading energy at the end of the day, I’ll probably read ウツボラ (下). I read the first volume a super long time ago, and as much as I adore the manga of 中村明日美子 this one was way above my level when I tried it last. I usually find her manga to be on the more difficult side, but I also always find that the stories are worth the effort.

I’ve seen some people on YouTube time themselves reading when they do reading challenges, so I’ll probably try that out, even if I doubt that I’ll actually do it for the whole month… It would also be interesting to have a more accurate idea of my reading speed in Japanese, and to be able to see if that changes over the course of the month.

After: In a series of unfortunate events, I didn’t end up reading at all at the library because I probably spent thirty minutes looking for my hold book and still couldn’t find it (they filed my name wrong, the paper slipped to where you couldn’t see the name on it, and the spine of the book is a completely different color than the cover). And since I walked, I didn’t want to walk home in the dark.

Mildly related notes- I can’t go anywhere without my dog begging for a walk, so I had to take her out before I could walk to the library myself. I also found it mildly amusing that the chapter I started at the library was library themed.

One hour update: My reading pace is (so far), pretty much exactly where I thought it was, which is about five minutes per page, give or take. Luckily, I've honed in to my reading weakness. Unfortunately, it's a big category. Vocabulary. Vocabulary is my weak point in studying and I go through phases in which I study a ton of flashcards or none at all. I know that I need to get back on my JPDB game, but. Ough. I'm just glad that I usually don't find any issues with grammar, and my reading speed when I know the words really isn't all that bad (as far as I'm concerned).

Final report: For the day, I've read about two hours and ten minutes give or take (I accidentally reset the timer eight minutes in) and nearly finished the chapter I was on of No. 6, completing about thirty ages in that time. I didn't get to reading any manga today, but that's fine. I would like to finish the chapter before I go to bed since I only have ten pages left, but that's still another hour of reading (hopefully less, since most of it seems to be dialogue) and it's getting late, hence why I'm updating now and not when I actually stop reading for the day. Night owl problems. Finishing the chapter would also put me at nearly halfway through the book. God I love short books! As usual, this series is wonderful and I always have a great time whenever I pick it up.

- Hitman Engie, also known as Agent 30, goes by he/it & is aroace. current status is trapped in the Foundation & coping by dreaming that he's back to its Missions Adventuring.

- UNIVERSE & TIME traveler, local hitman :)

- the SCP Foundation got his ass. it's gonna be stuck there for awhile till there's another installation of the Engie's Adventures Series.

- can only speak in broken sentences. as in. sentence mixing but it's irl. every time someone speaks normally it's like watching someone speak words you can't ever pronounce in your life. not that he minded.

can also do those audio editing that u see happens in gmod videos. can make his voice painfully high-pitched. also can use subtitles if the world he's in allows it.

- demeanor changes in every reality it enters. sometimes it's more goofy, sometimes it's more ruthless, sometimes it's more incompetent, etc. though these are mostly seen in gmod worlds, while sfm ones are more unpredictable.

- gmod & sfm style movement. can noclip through shit if the world is unstable enough. able to bend reality too if he knew how to lol

- Pip-boy is the main source of its time/universe traveling abilities. it is not its only source, however.

it is also used for storage, games, & that of the like. a multi-tool :3

- able to read & write codes, mostly binary but can write other computer stuff too. it likes hackin', although it's unaware that it's even breachin' anything :]

english is hard as FUCK for him to write & can only do them in very, very broken english.

- sees weird shit on a daily basis. it's his normal. it thinking that anything's weird should be considered an achievement.

- obedient as FUCK. especially when a mission isn't given & someone told him to do something.

- all phone rings coming from a phone that has number keys on them (bonus effect if it's blue) are like a Siren's Lullaby to Hitman. if he doesn't answer it right away/very quickly, its need to pick it up will Grow & Grow till he destroys everything in his way to get to it.

- doesn't know its boss. only ever heard his voice, but it doesn't care that much. besides, the Boss is basically the only person he can get into contact with anyways.

- lives in a white void with a small table stand with a blue bulky phone on it. there's no one else there.

this is probably the best ask ive ever gotten oh my god i could talk abt trc forever

the short answer is that it's a fantasy series of four books and a spin-off trilogy abt four private school boys and their token Girl friend trying to find a dead welsh king (and i know that's like. every red flag possible but hear me out ok)

the long answer is. ough. i know you specified detail but i got frank to read it so im gonna be So Careful mot to spoil anything and im mostly gonna talk abt the main group of characters cuz they have me in a chokehold (and there's so many details about the plotline itself that it's impossible 4 me not to spoil it on accident once i get talking)

in the first chapter you find out that one of the private school boys is going to die. his name's gansey and he's the one who got all his friends roped into his obsession over the dead welsh king. he's like the personification of rushed cursive and accidental insensitivity and passion. he means well but he's overly polite and knows what is objectively too much about business for a seventeen year old

you find out that he's gonna die via the token Girl friend. her name's blue and shes the only non-psychic in a family of psychics that run a Psychic Business out of their house (which is probably really dangerous considering they're all women and live in the middle of nowhere). she makes things Louder when it comes to all the psychic shit and she's like fingerless gloves and tangled necklaces and having too many highlighters 2 me

blue's dynamic with adam is one of my favorites. adam's another one of the private school boys, but he's the only one who isn't filthy rich. he lives in a trailer park and has a family that makes gansey worry so much that he all but begs adam to come live with him (the school has dorms but gansey decided to invest in an old factory instead and lives there with the other two private school boys). the thing about adam is that he wants out of that fucking trailer more than anything, but success means nothing to him unless he got it for himself. he's my favorite character and i could talk about him for days. he's like shitty cars and guilt and the forced silence of things that are loud in nature

then theres ronan. he's another one of the private school boys and there is so much about him. his dad was murdered and he was the one who found the body, his older brother's a dickhead who controls The Family Fortune, and there's so many secrets that go into who he is that i can't go into much detail without mentioning them. he's an asshole in the best way possible and he's like loud music and fucked up religious imagery and anger and violence. also im 80% sure he's franks favorite

noah's the last of the private school boys and has more secrets than ronan does. he's connected to the plot so intensely that i am Not gonna say much about him, but he's like smudged pencil and being forgotten and being remembered

I haven't read enough of most of the mangas, but for now I'll say chapter 19 & 40 of the isekai manga and chapter(?) 16 of Y manga.

Ough uhhh...IDK if I've watched enough of the series to pick a definite favorite design? I guess I'll say PT1? I'm honestly not sure though XD

I know everyone says this, but it's the characters! The main 5 are definitely my favorite thing about the franchise. They're just so much fun to watch(and read)!

As much as I adore Fire Treasure...I listen to Memory of Smile all the time, and it is without a doubt my favorite song from the entire franchise. Specifically, the one with Yasuo Yamada's singing, he had such a beautiful voice.

21. If you could contribute/change the franchise in any way, what would you do?

I'm not sure there's much I could contribute to the franchise. I'm a silly lil guy okay?

But, if I could change anything...I'd want better merch. So much of the recent merchandise for the show is awful. Don't get me wrong, there's some good stuff, like those band t-shirts and like 2 of the Lupin Zero merch...but the rest of it is just...bad. We want plushies!!! Not NFTs and Supreme branded shirts--

Now I'd also go into TMS weird greed when it comes to the franchise...but that's a conversation for another time.

22. What’s something about Lupin III that you wished people knew more about?

I honestly can't think of anything RN soooo I'll just say that the original plot of The Secret of the Twilight Gemini had Lupin's grandfather involved, but had to be rewritten because Lupin III wasn't allowed to be related and/or connected to Arsène Lupin. The entire setting of the movie was actually inspired by one of the original novels.

Also apparently Miyazaki was a big fan of the original novels. That was fun to find out. Makes the name choice of "Clarisse de Cagliostro" even more heartbreaking yet heartwarming.

HAHA. You've been tricked! This is just more grandpa Lupin propaganda!! No but seriously more people should read the original novels they're so much fun aaaaa--

I truly cannot recommend this podcast enough. I adore both of the hosts, it's got some comedy, and it's created by two trans people (one of whom is autistic as well!) who frequently discuss trans issues on the show!

LeGaL LGBT Bar NY Podcast ⚖️

This is a podcast run by the LeGaL LGBT Bar of NY, which is a prominent player in LGBT issues in the federal judiciary. (Yes, this is another SCOTUS podcast lol.) It's not as radical as 5-4 (though episode 136 was refreshing), but I adore the episodes were Professor Art Leonard goes over that month's Law Notes issue and talks about the cases described in the issue.

On The Ledge 🌱

Cute houseplant podcast. My favorite episodes are 214 and 215, in which she chats with Ashley Esakin my beloved, a soil scientist!

You're Wrong About 📖

Truly a classic. The first podcast I ever fell in love with. YWA is a podcast about debunking some incorrect popular understandings, but also oftentimes it's just the hosts giving me excellent long-winded fun facts (+ some comedy in the process) and I ADORE it.

Favorite episodes include the Princess Diana series (ofc), the DC Snipers series, and the Michelle Remembers satanic panic series :) (Among so many others though!! Feel free to anon me asking for a full list of my favorite YWA eps, but be prepared for the ensuing long ass post lol.)

ough, ive been out all day and almost forgot to do my little thing for #savetf2

anyways

i know what so many people might have already said. it's no big surprise if I'm just a drop in the sea when I say "Tf2 means so much to me"

i get it. It means so much to so many

but would you like to hear my story?

first and foremost, i've never even heard of TF2 until mid-2020. it was brought to my attention by all the tributes to the beloved and late, Rick May.

I saw so many tributes pop up on YouTube, so many videos, so much fanart, and song remixes- I was amazed! I looked through the comments, and one kept with me: "I've never seen a community come together faster than TF2 Fans to honour Rick May" or something along those lines I learned, through that one comment, that this is a community that cares. I didn't know anything at the time, and as the year went on, I forgot

but then, I came across Lazy Purple. Specifically, his "How It Feels" series. sure, I've watched Winglet's "Burning Through Space" and a few other SFMs, but this is what got me into the game. the high energy, the vibes, the crazy way each character felt so different from one another but so intertwined. I laughed, took notes on each character, and loved every second of the videos!

then, I started digging. I looked around, and found that there were comics! at first, I thought you needed to buy them, so I looked up voice over's for them. I watched dubs for the update comics and the numbered ones as well! and yes, I got very disappointed when I learned that there was no comic 7

finally, I found the "Meet The Team" videos and "Expiration Date". I loved everything about them so much, that's when I finally downloaded the game!

I went through the tutorial and tried playing with bots offline to try and get a feel for the game. then, after gaining some confidence, I looked for a match in Casual. I landed in a friendly server, on 2Fort. I loaded in as Medic (seeing as my team had none) and started wandering around. I found someone in the basement, and healed them, only for them to be a Spy (imagine my surprise!)! I had fun, wandering around, even though I had no way of communicating, other than nodding and shaking my head.

after a while, I landed in Payload and started playing for real. I found that I loved playing as Pyro, so that's who I mained! I still main Pyro to the day (as of writing).

but that's only the start of my story.

after a while, I found the jokes of people finding out they were trans due to the game, and lo and behold, the game helped me figure that out too! I found my gender identity through the funny characters who wore funny hats and did funny things.

further on down the line, I met a good friend of mine. we don't talk much now, but he holds a close place in my heart, because... well, he's doing better now. I'm happy I could help him.

then, I finally started doing shit on this Tumblr account. I reblogged funny things, and I made friends. I goofed off with them, found roleplay blogs, and had a fun time all around!

hell, I even found a boyfriend, not through Tumblr, but through our mutual love for this War Themed Hat Trading Simulator. tell me that three years ago, and I would have laughed.

I love this game. I truly do hold this game so close to my heart, because it has done so much for me personally. it hurts to know that it's slowly dying due to Valve's lack of attention, but with the VA's being so active now, and the community coming together, I have so much hope.

we still have sush a long fight ahead of us, but I think we're finally nearing the top of this hill. I'm so happy I got into TF2 when I did

And ough. Cyan, my scrimblo. My awful, angry child. You could say that there are a few things about him that appeal to me about him; his appearance (both the fact that he looks like Joker only Edgier™ and that he does not look like this naturally, yet continues to dress and style this way completely voluntarily, in spite of not really having a reason to anymore), his personality (his original depth + subsequent flanderization in the anime, as well as all the inconsistent nonsense he had going on in the manga because the author never had his ducks in a row in regards to planned plot elements and basically wrote on vibes alone), and his overall story arc, which the anime especially handled super well.

There's also the smaller things, like the fact that he's clearly brilliant when he's not choosing to be stupid and/or rising to Joker's deliberate bait; the fact that a lot of his favorite things seem to be specifically designed around him taking the "dark doppelgänger" role a little too seriously (I think I posted the page from that one manga volume around here somewhere with all the silly things on it), or else just being a huge edgy nerd; the fact that he's a good older brother and loves his sister very much, but is kind of self-conscious about it (the fact that people seem to ship them romantically because of this makes me want to Bite Them; for real don't be nasty); the fact that in most official artwork and other extracanon materials, he's still depicted as loving apple pies and panda bears... Underneath it all, and in spite of everything, there's still a teenage boy under there, attempting to thrive.

Plus, have I mentioned what a humongous dork he is? He hypes himself up so much over a challenge he sent to Joker, only to mope dejectedly, pouting, when he finds out that Joker is too ill to be there in person. It's like he thought he was going to see his favorite celebrity at a meet and greet, only to find out that they cancelled at the last minute. Really, it's a very silly thing that he's seemingly dedicated the rest of his life to (outside of caring for his sister, of course), but hell if he isn't very serious about it.

Really, there was a lot of potential to his character that simply didn't get covered (at least by the anime). And there's a chance we may never see any more of his and Rose's manga chapters in English, which is a shame, because I know there's at least one story about them when they were young children. He and his sister deserved more screen time, especially considering that he was Joker's main rival (ignoring Spade, who feels more like some kind of older step-sibling that Joker both loves on some level, yet cannot stand to be around; basically Shadow is his primary rival that doesn't come with the familial baggage, whereas Spade activates Joker's Cain Instinct basically on sight). He's a cool guy (even if he's a nerd) that deserved more development; a lot of them deserved a little more fleshing out, actually, but that's another issue that has a lot to do with the nature of the original manga series, plus the limited time they were allowed with the anime, which seems to be no more, sadly.

Basically, he just kind of hits a lot of the right buttons with me, in some ways. Also he's dressed in purple; kind of hard to go wrong, there, in my mind at least. (Did I ever mention that my favorite color was violet/purple?)

i am tempted to go back and watch some of sam's, though, just because he seems like a really interesting and complex and tragic character from other people's povs and i am kissing him directly on top of his sad little morally grey conflicted duty-bound head. i love designs for him with the weird kind of non-centaur quadrupedal creeper stuff, i love the masks obscuring his face especially during prison arc to mirror him making a robot of himself, i love him as this weird sad grim warden of a duty he really didn't fucking have to assign himself. he's just..... ough.

also kghdfgk yeah there were. a lot of things that drove my schlatt to do what he did during election arc, but... ngl i don't think quackity really won there, per se. a win for everyone would probably have been if wilbur and quackity teamed up and had hot gay sex and schlatt slunk off to. idk. continue drinking himself to death and tormenting slimecicle across universes, or whatever the fuck he was doing before. wouldn't've been a win / happy ending for schlatt, but he's not gonna get one anyway soooooo

Working out some feelings

My brain is just kind of dead set on making sure I’m always at least a little miserable. I can have what is overall a fun, good time (like say, a night out with friends) but what I carry forward from the experience, what upon reflection comes to mind, is every instance in which I felt out of place or like an alien and every moment in which I felt like I was being stupid or unfunny. The bad moments eclipse the rest, and what I’m left with is another series of data points that show me that I should probably just sink into the earth. My brain lies and isn’t my friend but how do I separate that from any sort of legitimate (?) feeling of a need not being met and alienation?

Sometimes I wonder what it’d feel like, what I’d be like, if what I carried forward was the moments I made friends laugh or how it feels to be present, to enjoy someone’s company, to meet and address someone’s needs. I just can’t hold onto those moments. They seep out of me like I’m a Danaid, just eternally trying to fill a basin with a cracked jug; the water always leaks out before they make it back.

I know my problem is that I have no self-esteem whatsoever and just feel inferior to everyone around me, especially my friends who I am dazzled by, which then makes me easily wounded and sullen, defeatist and prone to sulking, often a little desperate for acknowledgement or to feel needed but quick to dismiss any of that because it’s untrue and undeserved. Whatever it is friends or anyone else see in me, I just don’t and can’t. Ultimately though, I find all of this so infuriatingly and demoralizingly tedious. The same thoughts and feelings over and over again, perpetually gloomy and forcing myself to Be And Act Normal to increasingly low levels of success because I don’t want to add work to anyone’s days and I don’t want to be a Drain to be around. But I’m so tired, and if there’s really anything I want I don’t know what it is. Ough ketamine I need
