2024 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix

Thursday - Media Day

"Lovely to see you all," Crofty said, looking around the group of drivers in the press conference. On the couch was Max, Lando, Charles, Lewis and You. "Firstly, Y/N, all of us over at Sky Sports are loving the new song, it’s been the talk of the paddock all morning too. Lots of us want to know, who is it about?”

You chuckled, knowing that you’d be asked at some point. You hadn’t expected it to be so soon. “Firstly, thank you. I’m glad that so many people have been liking it. Lew and I have literally been working on it since like the start of the year. I’m so thankful that he agreed to do the guitar for me because I wouldn’t have been able to do this without him. As for who it’s about.” You paused, looking quickly at Max, who’s eyes were already on you. You looked at him for a moment before turning your attention back to Crofty, making sure to look at glance at the drivers as you did. “It’s about one of my ex’s. I won’t say which one.”

“And the name. How did you come up with the song name? How are you feeling about this weekend, by the way?”

“It was something that he said to explain why we broke up. I like to think that everything happens for a reason, you know? And sometimes, things aren’t meant to be. And that’s just life. I’m just glad that people like it. I’m so excited for this weekend. As you all know, it’s been hard working towards this weekend, and I’m looking forward to giving Max a hell of a hard time.”

He chuckled, looking at you. Your eyes went straight to him, sending him a competitive grin. “Hope you’re looking forward to P2 in the drivers, buttercup.” Him hitting you with the teasing childhood nickname was a surprise. He started calling you that when you were both 14 because he slipped a buttercup into your hand and it scared the life out of you. So since then, he has never let you live it down. You didn’t even hesitate in your response to him.

“I hope you’re looking forward to seeing me on the top step of the podium, Princess Max.” The glare he shot you was almost instantaneous as Charles started laughing, obviously having understood the reference. 

“Right, just for that, I'm taking you out of the race on turn one.” You recognised that teasing tone in his voice, feeling your stomach flutter a little at that beautiful, happy tone that you had missed being directed at you. But you shook it off. ‘He wasn't meant to be, remember?’ you told yourself as the conference continued.

The moment you got out of the press conference, the atmosphere changed. Max walked straight past you, not even daring to look at you. You and Max still rarely talked. Since the start of 2024 you had become more civil, but you were nowhere near friends. 

Max slumped down onto the seat in his driver's room. He ran his hand through his hair, sighing. Fuck. He heard the door open and shut and, moments later, felt a presence on the space beside him on the couch. “Go on, then. What’s up?”

He raised his head to the man, looking at the seriousness all across his face. “I don’t know what you mean.”

“Max. I was your teammate for like 2 years. I saw the way you loved her and I saw the mess after you broke up. I also just watched that press conference. Start speaking.” Daniel was persistent, to be fair to him. But he also had a point. Over the years, Daniel had heard a lot about how he felt but he never talked about you to him.

“I regret it. Basically every day. It’s not left my mind since I listened to her song.”

“Still? Max, it’s been 6 years since you broke up with her. Also, YOU broke up with HER. Why would you do that if you didn’t want to?”

Max sighed, the memories of his prior conversation coming back to him.

[November 2018]

“You need to break up with her.” The seven words he had always dreaded hearing. Never in a million years would he ever consider breaking up with you. You were his muse, his soulmate. You were the person he wanted to marry, the one he wanted to spend the rest of his life with. It was funny, the words that left the man in front of him’s mouth. He knew he had a long shot of ever getting him to do that.

“Give me one good reason why I should.”

“She’ll just distract you, Max!” Jos’ voice was already doing Max’s head in and he had only said 12 words so far. ‘What happened to hello, how are you?’ He thought, rolling his eyes at the poor excuse that he spilled.

“As if she had ever distracted me before. Seriously, dad. We have been karting and racing together for years, for our entire relationship, and nothing will change now that we are in the same team.”

And that’s how it became an argument. The pair were shouting at each other. And then the bomb dropped. Jos handed Max a photo, making a comment about how he wouldn’t want it to be leaked. Max looked at the photo, his stomach instantly turning with disgust as he realised the photo that his father had managed to get ahold of and was now using it to threaten him, attempting to get him to break up with you, his person, because he wasn’t a fan of you. Jos never had liked you. Whilst being with you, you had helped Max realise that Jos was not a good person by any means, and Jos didn’t like that. As if on queue, your head poked around the door, quickly apologising when you realised that Jos was there. Jos smiled at you, before speaking. “No problem, I was just leaving. Think about what I said, Max.”

“What a dick,” Daniel declared, having taken a few moments to process what Max had just explained.

“Daniel, I miss her so much.”

“I know, mate. I know.” Daniel paused his speaking for a minute, attempting to come up with some kind of recommendation. He was fully aware that Max couldn’t express how he felt in person, so he came up with an idea. “Maybe write her a letter. She likes displays of affection like that.”

Race Day.

Crossing the line was the happiest you had been in a while. The race was excellent. For most of the race, Max and you had been fighting for P1 until he barely managed to get out of your DRS range. He ended up being a good few seconds ahead with 10 laps remaining. You didn't let that get to you, though, opting to keep pushing to the very last lap. And you did, getting closer and closer. However, you would've been perfectly happy if Max won. You both put up a brilliant fight and the drive against him was superb. But then you saw your golden opportunity. You overtook him, riskily but safely and fairly, regaining the lead of the race. Final lap. You heard the radio sound, being disappointed when Christian could be heard through it. “Give Max back the position, please.”

“Why should I?” You were pissed. Once again, they were attempting to strip you of everything you had worked hard for, everything that you wanted and dreamed of. Everything that you and Max talked about when you were kids. One day, he would say, one day we'll both be world champions, driving for Red Bull together and happily in love. Well, that last part didn't happen but you weren't about to give up on that.

“Max has worked so hard for this.”

“Fuck off, Christian, so have I.”

He said your name with venom, chuckling as he spoke. “We have a meeting to sign your contract extension tomorrow, remember. You've got to respect what your boss says if you want to keep driving.”

You scoffed as you crossed the finish line. No congratulations from Christian, a congratulations from your amazing race engineer, of course, but he was quickly shushed by Christian. You knew at least Crofty and Martin would be cheering in that commentary box, likely would be referring to it as the most interesting race since Abu Dhabi 2021 or Bahrain 2022.

Getting out of the car, you saw the red bull team. But they weren't cheering for you, they were cheering for Max. You hugged your engineer, excitedly celebrating your first world championship. The one you had worked so hard for day in and day out. You then rushed to hug a bunch of the drivers who were there, starting with Fernando who finished P3 in the race, as well as the championship. Then you went to them all, starting with Lewis, then Charles and Carlos, then Yuki, then Logan and so on. And then you saw Max. He walked to you, giving you a congratulatory hug. You hugged back, your arms going around his waist. You felt his hands move around your shoulders to your neck, confusion filling you as you pulled away from the hug, noticing the Dutch flag wrapped around your shoulders. “If I won, I was going to wear it to the podium. But this time, it's your turn. Congratulations.”

The post race interview started with Fernando, then only Max. When he was asked about how he felt about losing to you, he, too, referenced your childhood. “On the 14th of February 2012, she asked me what my dream was. I told her that it was for us to both make it to F1. For us to both be world champions, driving in the same team. Together. And a couple other things. Whilst we didn't get those other things, I'm happy that we have finally achieved most of our dreams.” It then went onto you. 

Jenson asked about the race, congratulated you, the normal stuff. He then brought up the request from Horner about letting Max win. He smiled softly, signalling for you to speak as much as you wanted. “To be quite honest, Jens, I think it was a stupid team order. For them to assume that I would willingly give up a championship to give it to someone else is insane. I’ve been listening to his orders for years, letting Max through most of the time I was asked. However, when I don't, all I would receive is a lecture. ‘You should’ve listened to us’ he would say. ‘You didn’t deserve that win, you are lucky you are even driving for us, don’t push your luck.’” Your eyes scanned the crowd as you spoke. Disgust about Christian’s actions was over all the driver’s faces. Including Max, who was clearly surprised. Christian, on the other hand, looked as white as a ghost. You continued speaking.

“However, I am not, by any means, upset with Max. I know that none of this was his fault. It was Christian’s,” you said, pausing to take a breath before saying the next thing. This whole year had built up to this moment. “Which is why I am incredibly happy to announce that the contract renewal meeting will not be necessary, because I will be driving for Mercedes AMG Petronas Formula One Team in the 2025 season.” You glanced over to Lewis who had grinned at you, winking, having already known the news. You took this opportunity to lightly tease him about his inability to say the team name. “See, Lew? It’s not that difficult to remember the name.”

“So… Mercedes, huh?”

“Yes, Max. Mercedes. You won’t miss me too much when I’m gone, no?”

He chuckled, sitting on your couch as you packed your stuff up. “Maybe I will, maybe I won’t. Are you going to the Red Bull Team Party later?”

“I wasn’t invited. Never have been.”

“Really?” He watched you nod. “Well, come anyway. Be my plus one, show them who’s the boss.” He stood up, stepping closer to you. “I’m sorry they favoured me. I never rewatched the races so I never saw the radio. I truly am sorry.”

“Max, it wasn’t your fault. I’ll think about your offer, I need to go.”

“Wait.” He reached in his pocket, pulling out some paper. “Read that when you get to the hotel, please.”

You’ll have to bear with me, I will try my best not to waffle too much. I struggle to express how I feel through words, so Daniel suggested a letter.

When I think back to 2018, I realised that I never gave you a proper explanation on why I broke up with you. It was not a choice which I wanted to make. If given the choice, I would’ve chose the opposite, however, given the situation, the choice was obvious.

My father threatened me with a photo. I know what you’re thinking. “Why would a photo give you a reason to break up with me?” Jos managed to get a hold of an inappropriate photo of you, one which he threatened to release if I stayed with you. Believe me, if the opportunity was there, we would still be dating now. However, I couldn’t do this to you. I couldn’t let your reputation in the F1 community get destroyed because I decided to be selfish and stay with you. I hope I can be forgiven for this. I loved your song. It might’ve been the most beautiful thing I have ever heard.

I know that our break up was irreparable. I handled it way worse than I should have. However, I again have reason for this. I feared that, if I wasn’t harsh, you would’ve been determined to keep us working. And I have a soft spot for you, I always have done. I would do anything for you in a heartbeat.

I know I never said it when we were together, and I know that I should have, but I love you more than I have ever loved anyone before. I have since the day we met to the current day. I’m planning to give this letter to you the day of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, after the race, but it was written before. I hope you know that, no matter what, even if you win the championship, nothing will ever stop me feeling devoted to you. You are my life, my soul, my person. I will love you until the day I take my last breath.

youruser: My time at Red Bull Racing has come to an end. This decision was not one I took lightly, however, it took little to no consideration to make this decision. The treatment that I received from Red Bull Racing over the years and, more specifically, Christian Horner, has been one I would not wish upon any driver. That being said, Max, you have been a wonderful teammate. Can't wait to beat you again next year, just in a Mercedes this time. You were spending so much time at the dorms by now, it was as if you lived here with the boys. It was the usual cozy evening, all of you gathered on the sofa to chat, you cuddled against your boyfriend's chest. 

“Show us the video of us that made you like Ateez, please?” Mingi hummed all of a sudden, a slightly confused look on your face as you tilt your head up to see his eyes. “Like, which music video?” You asked, the others also looking very curious. After a nod from Mingi, you thought for a few moments, deciding what actually made you fall in love with Ateez’s music and their members. You were sure that you told Mingi already which one it was, so you just opened the YouTube app on the TV to pull up their ‘wonderland’ performance from kingdom - legendary war. 

Tilting your head back with a smile, it quickly dropped when you noticed Mingi's expression, a frown forming on your features and you pressed pause. “Hey…what's wrong, Mings?” You ask quietly, biting your lower lip before then looking at the others. Kingdom had been during Mingi's hiatus,you knew that, but you also thought that you already told him that this was your first time seeing them. Apparently, you didn't tell him.

“Y- you fell in love with a performance I wasn't even in?” He wasn't able to hide the slight tremble in his voice, and this was the moment you realized that it maybe would be the best to explain.

“I- well, kind of…but it's the first thing I've heard from Ateez, Mings. My sister had watched that show and, because she complained about her laptop being too small to see the performances, I told her to watch it on TV. When she did, it was the wonderland performance of you guys and, admittedly, the first one I saw and asked about…was the ‘pretty faced guy with the cloak’.” You say with a little chuckle, rubbing the skin of your neck nervously, knowing how jealous Mingi can be sometimes. But this time, he just watches you, arms wrapped around your middle and his face nuzzled against your shoulder.

“That was Seonghwa, by the way…uh, well my sister then explained to me who you guys are, but that Mingi was not in the show during that time. At first, I thought ‘okay, they're really good, but I still don't like K-pop’, but then when listening to the rest, Jongho captured me with his voice. I remember that I kept calling him Mr high note, while my sister tried to help me with the names of you all.” This drew a chuckle from everyone and Jongho's ears blushed heavily at the hidden compliment. “And then, my sister showed me music videos, Halazia was one of the first and she even told me that the one I don't know yet is a rapper and since I don't like rap, I probably won't like him either. She was wrong. The moment Mingi showed up in the music video, I was doomed.”

“Yah! What about me, y/nnie?! I looked stunning in that MV!” Wooyoung whined and you nod, agreeing with him. “Oh yeah you absolutely did. All of you guys do. But Mingi- I don't really know why him, actually. I just fell in love with his voice and, I mean, look at this gorgeous man, guys!” You couldn't help but gush about your amazing boyfriend while searching for the music video of your favorite song. Then, when Mingi first appears, you pause and everyone can see the literal heart eyes you throw at him. “Just. Look. At. Him! This is by far my most favorite look of him, by the way. I think my first thought when I saw him was that his hands would make a great neckl-” Your eyes widened and you quickly shut yourself up by putting your hand on your mouth. Wooyoung's loud cackle just added to your embarrassment while the others couldn't stop grinning. 

“Wait- so…you started to like Ateez because of your sister forcing you to watch kingdom? And then I became your bias and boyfriend?” Mingi asked, eyes wide, not making any remark about his hands being used as a necklace, but he'll definitely keep it in the back of his mind. “Hmh, exactly. Well, I couldn't decide on my bias for almost a month, to be honest…you all are so talented and, and you all are too well aware of it, so so handsome! But then my sister showed me more and more videos of you all and I realized that my heart belongs to Mingi and if I had to choose between one of you all, my answer would always be Mingi.”

a/n - wow sorry i took so long to get to this !! i thought this req was such a neat concept when i first received it and i'm honestly shocked it's taken this long to get around to it honestly ... also, im fairly sure a couple of these charas have been in events related to learning how to tune vocaloids, so if anything in here contradicts those events please forgive me i have not read them </3 enjoy

Obviously, Ichika has always admired Vocaloid songs

She's wanted to try it for herself for as long as she can remember, but seeing how expensive the software is, she can't

Until she met you, of course

Learning you were a Vocaloid producer and that you shared her passion for music probably made her love you more than she already did

She will gladly listen attentively as you explain how it works to her, even if she's heard it before from certain videos

She wants to hear you explain it, after all

Seeing the process of making these kinds of songs that she's loved for years is so exciting for Ichika

When you temporarily leave the room to grab something, you come back to see her tentatively making Miku sing a few notes

"...Ah! I-I'm so sorry for touching your things without your permission!" "No no, it's alright. I'd like to see what you make." "If it's really alright, then..."

You two will eventually make a song together, and it will sound amazing, trust me <3

Minori enjoys quietly watching you work away at the laptop

It's a bit of a toss-up, sometimes she'll be utterly silent and sometimes she'll ask you a billion questions at once

Every single time after you finish making a song, Minori's already crafted choreography for it in her mind and eagerly performs it for you

So if you're the type of producer to use animation/dancing in your mvs, you have a wonderful choreographer to help you plan it out!

Minori always tries to get the rest of MMJ! to cover your songs with her after you release them

Even if they don't want to, she'll probably post solo covers anyway

You'll also catch her humming your songs when she's distracted by something

If you tell her about it, she proudly tells you it's just because your songs are so amazing, they always get stuck in her head!

Minori loves her talented partner so much, after all!

Akito didn't know much about Vocaloid songs before he met you, really

Yeah, he's listened to a few songs once or twice. Yeah, he covers them constantly. Yeah, he knows Hatsune Miku personally, but that doesn't mean anything

Suffice to say, he learns a lot from you

He's asked if he can watch you make music before, which you didn't really mind

You thought it was boring to him, though - all you really do is sit there quietly as you work, occasionally humming or singing the melody you're trying to create

Until one day, Akito suddenly comments on the creation process as if he's used the software multiple times before

It definitely shocked you, but you're happy to know he does pay attention

If the music you make is his style, he'll probably cover it himself or with VBS too

Although, when they find out he only wants to cover your songs because they're your songs, he gets relentlessly teased about it...

Kanade is already used to making songs digitally, plus she's used the Vocaloid software before

The two of you end up making songs together a lot

You've probably collaborated with 25ji multiple times, plus Kanade and you often like making songs on your own

Aside from that, you two can often give each other help or criticism when you work

"Hey, Kanade. What do you think of this song so far?" "It flows very well, and your tuning of Rin sounds very unique and refreshing. However, maybe you could tweak this part..."

Although, while Kanade knows how to use Vocaloid, she usually focuses on melodies more than the voice software

So she's learned a lot by being with you

And likewise, you've learned a lot about composing from her

You're each other's biggest fans, really

Your songs are very comforting to Kanade. She'll find herself humming them on instinct when she's stressing herself out from composing

If your songs are on the gentler side, she'll probably put them on when she's trying to sleep

(Usually she doesn't try to sleep though, she just ends up falling asleep on accident...)

I’ve had a rethink. I think Face-off is now my favourite song on the album.

Set Me Free Pt 2 is still top 3, but Jimin’s enunciation on Face-off brings a smile to my face every time I hear it because that man is too damn sassy for his own good lool.

In the latest Suchwita episode, Hobi revealed that Jimin practiced live singing six hours everyday before and during FACE promotions.

Six hours. Every day.

That made me pause. I started thinking about everything that happened during FACE. I don't talk about this at all here because I won't ever share personal pictures and I know I was incredibly lucky and many other people here likely deserved to see him before I did, but I saw Jimin live during his very first shows for FACE.

He was so happy. The joy on his face and the way he worked the crowd... like a fish in water. He gave some of the best performances of the year during FACE promotions. The whole project and the thoughtful way he went about promoting the album, is noteworthy.

But then I remembered the BS, the way k-pop stans reacted to the album, to the MVs, to the encore stage, the way BTS akgaes indulged in their sociopathy on his account, how BigHit failed (the anger Jimin biases feel is justified but some of y'all are wallowing in it). I remembered a few of Jimin's Wlives, how so much has been going on for him this year, and then tried to fit 6 hours daily practicing into it...

I have to stop myself when I think about Jimin. He has such latent intensity, like a glamour, a force field around him... it's like a black hole that sucks everything, including you, into him and his world. It scares me.

I know I whine about Jimin biases but y'all amaze me ngl. It takes a special fortitude of heart to bias Jimin. This post already sounds incredibly effusive, but I don't believe I'm exaggerating when I say he's a truly beautiful person. It's almost as though the world does not deserve him. It's impossible to not love him, desire him, care for him... want more sooner for him. I see all that, but I also see that man is stubborn as fuck.

He took his time to start work on his solo album. The middle of the Vegas concerts is when he said he suddenly came to his senses, shook himself out of that trance, and earnestly started putting together the FACE project. He'd written songs before, but FACE was its own thing. The personal stories he chose to communicate, the care in lyricism and production, the quality... Jimin created art in FACE and trusted that those who care for nothing but the best, will love it.

That's sexy, but the way he went about it also betrays a conservatism in him. It's a shadow of the edge in him, that thing about him that causes a tinge of anxiety when you watch him too closely.

I'm not sure if I'm making sense, but what I mean to say is you need a special kind of courage to bias and love Jimin. I recognize that. When I write what I do here, I always remember that. I also have very little respect for solos. And those two sentiments aren't mutually exclusive.

But taking it back to Face-off, my favourite thing about it is Jimin's sense of humour and skill coming through in the song, as well as how he enunciates his words. To really hear the switch in his tone, you need to stream in this order:

Anyway, sorry I rambled. Face-off is a really good song and Jimin did an excellent job on it. The whole project is very good so I can't wait for the next songs we get from him. Shit can't get worse than BB deleting D2C sales so on the bright side, we can only go up from here, and for Jimin who already owns the record as the first soloist in history to debut #1 on the Billboard Hot 100, up will be a good spot to be.

it was a particularly bad year. i stumbled upon their silly videos (thank you stay for the edits<3) and they made me laugh. then i started seeing clips of chans room and him interacting with the boys and just like... he's so wonderful. he's generous and kind and loving and thoughtful. just a shy lil guy who also happens to be a flirt and a fucking dork and it's cute man idk shut upp

i was certain i'd never have one, i truly adore each of those boys so so much.

i was however proven wrong after a very sweet, silly compilation of binnie being ridiculous. followed by a face cam of his sclass performance in the supreme jersey?? and the curls?? he has such amazing stage presence and he's a great dancer. but he kept going from his cute sweet binnie expressions looking like he was just so into it and having fun, to the "dark rapper" eyes and commanding stage presence. and like, wow. 🖤 i am a sucker for that kind of duality.

but then i was just on my usual 6 hour yt shorts binge as i tried to fall asleep and saw skz reacting to the "your eyes" mv, specifically felix's part, obviously. i watched it like 12 times just cry laughing at han screaming, hyunjin trying to escape, channie hiding behind his hands and squealing. it was just so funny to see a group kind of clowning their own shit? i thought they were hilarious.

then i saw julien (solomita) had reacted to 'topline' and i was soooo into it. immediately went to watch some mvs and decided cool i'll be a totally normal casual fan of this group’s music….. :)

THEN a lovely lady i'd followed on my 10 year old tumblr account posted about skz. i messaged her that I’d finally decided to check them out and she was kind enough to answer questions and entertain my onslaught of messages as I screamed about how much I love these boys. and she still does everyday so. thank you hana 🌸

Omg yes! The prisoners would have such a good time planning mv outfits! I can definitely see it being bittersweet for Fuuta – exasperated by, but also homesick because, they all remind him so much of his sister ;-; Mahiru is devastated she's not getting a new outfit for I Love You and so she enjoys styling vicariously through helping the others. Shidou’s outfit was even more painfully Dad before the group helped tone it down. Before the mv color scheme was decided, they cycle through a few different colored marching band uniforms for Amane. Muu doesn’t quite understand the flower dress, but the team promises her it will all come together to look great.

Even after watching the t1 videos, it would be the nicest they've seen everyone get dressed up. ADFGGH rip Haruka 😂😂😂 I love the idea of a whole group of them sneaking around looking for tasty goo and fun props, and instead stumbling upon The Mannequin Room. And waait I'm so emotional over Kazui loosening up and having a bit of fun with his tricks :’D With all the themes about certain characters growing up faster than they should, it would be so lovely to see them giggling and messing around in a blooper reel! I’m imagining someone trying to twirl Amane’s baton as well as her and epically failing at it.

Yeah, I have a lot of different predictions for Amane’s t3 changes – but no matter what happens, she starts accepting help just a little bit more behind the scenes >:) It’ll still take her a really long time to break away from the cult’s beliefs (no one in the cast/team really knows proper cult deprogramming strategies at this point, but they start looking into it as soon as the experiments ends.) Still, she finds a balance of keeping most of her religion and also realizing that the others genuinely care for her. 

And oooh I really like that 👀 I always pictured the prisoner Es hints to be leading toward them being a prisoner in the future (accused of executing prisoners), but that would add so much more drama if it relates to a past imprisonment. The ten would make a perfect heist team, hacking the system, snooping around, and charming facility members in order to find paperwork detailing past experiments featuring Es. And Kotoko would certainly be leading the investigation – I love how closely she’s monitoring everything, it would fit so well if she were the one to see the truth first. Between the realization that Milgram hasn’t been fully honest, and the threat that Es may be there for even longer, the jailbreak would erupt much quicker than the current timeline. Although the au is nicer overall, I really like keeping Milgram a pretty shady organization hehe

This ask was more difficult then I suppose it's meant to be, because I mainly listen to songs, not artists. A lot of the time, I find one or two songs from the same artist that I really like, and then I have no idea what else they've done, so answering this required some thinking. Thank you @my-rose-tinted-glasses for making me sit down and actually think about what artists I like, and not just what songs I happen to vibe with at the moment!

Spoiler: it's a lot of Korean music, and what makes me come back to an artist is most often their voice.

Isaac Hong I found him through the OST for Strangers From Hell (along with The Rose, The Vane and Yaori) and then rediscovered him when I watched the reality show Super Band. I love his voice and I love the way many of his songs swell and sweep me along. He's done a few more OSTs lately, so if you've watched a lot of kdramas, chances are you've heard his music somewhere.

Give Childhood Memories 내 기억 속의 소년, Close Your Eyes and Ruin a listen!

LeeHi This woman has an absolutely amazing voice and can do widly different songs. She's got a lot of great songs of her own and has done a whole lot of fantastic collabs with various artists as well.

1, 2, 3, 4, FXXK WIT US and Breathe are some of my favourites, but be warmed: Breathe never fails to make me tear up.

Iniko What a voice!!! (Have you noticed a theme yet?) Their voice is otherwordly and all it took was a few seconds of a short clip for me to get goosbumps and be absolutely blown away. Their acapella videos are a treat. Their music is different and powerful and I love it.

Luna, The King's Affirmation and Jericho are definitely recommended!

Woosung and The Rose As mentioned, I first found the indie rock band The Rose through the OST for Strangers from Hell, and then some time later I found the singer Woosung and fell in love with his voice - and then it took me an embarrassing amount of time to realise that Woosung is the singer for The Rose, and his solo songs are what he did to stay active while the rest of the boys did their military service. (Yes, this is the level of research/knowledge I usually have about artists. Virtually none, that is.)

Sorry, Strangers and Wonder are some of my favourite The Rose songs, while Phase Me and Face are some of my favourite Woosung songs! Psst! I have been told that the piano key he's hitting in the Face MV is the G note...

Bibi Once more, as with all of these: The Voice!!! Bibi has a husky voice coupled with a bit of an attitude that I can't help but love! I found her through a show called The Fan (where I also found Car the Garden and Youra) and she keeps delivering!

Long Time Ago, Animal Farm, Vengeance are some of her songs that I think you should check out! The MVs are delighfully bloody, but maybe go for a lyric video if you don't want to see heads roll.

BTS: the group that first got me into Korean music in 2016, when I'd previously only been interested in Korean movies. They put out so much music I can't keep up and they're possibly the only group where I've listened to enough of their discography to have a favourite album: Wings.

Mamamoo: a group of fantastic ladies who are excellent performers and fantastic singers! They know how to put on a show and how to have fun on stage. They're also challenging Korean stereotypes and norms, which of course gives them extra points in my books.

Jessi: now here's a lady who isn't afraid to speak her mind and who breaks Korean stereotypes for breakfast. She's a girlboss who raps and sings and does both hard-hitting hip hop and emotional ballads.

King Mala: a recent find, but what a find! So many good songs that made me feel like as absolute badass, and the lyrics are great fun and often delightfully kinky.

GSoul: a warm hug and a sigh of relief as you relax. Close your eyes and lean back and give his RnB songs a listen.

Jeff Satur: his music videos with his many different alter egos have given birth to the #jeffcest tag - need I say more? This guy sure has a vision and he seems to be having great fun doing what he's doing and we get to have great fun enjoying the stuff he puts out, so what's not to like?

Ten: now this guy is mainly on the list becuase of his performances, but what performances he puts on!! This guy can dance, and I don't know how many times I've rewatched his Devil performance from Hit The Stage which he did when he'd only just debuted. Apart from his individual songs, he's also part of NCT, so he's part of a whole lot of songs in a variety of different languages.

my thoughts on heartsteel

I'm going to be honest and say I was expecting a lot more from the song. HS was super hyped up and the teaser was promising (I watched it the first time and I was already singing along. Catchy! It gave me EXO vibes) but when the actual song was finally released, it didn't really hit hard like the other band songs Rito has released.

I had the video up in the background while waiting for the premiere to start as I played so I only got to listen to it the first time, no visuals. When I heard the opening rap, I thought it was K'Sante. It was a bop. Then... the rest of the song was just one big chorus? It felt like another case of Star Walking, where the whole song felt like a buildup to a drop that never happens.

Second time I played the video was when I finished playing so I got to watch properly. Why... does Kayn have such a deep voice? It completely threw me off and apparently, it's meant to be Rhaast singing but the Kayn face doesn't match the voice :( Baekhyun matches Ezreal well, but the voice for Sett is too high for him.

Baekhyun has too much screen time sfdkdjsf He easily overshadows every other member. It's part of the reason why the whole song felt like one continuous chorus.

Notice how I didn't mention K'Sante's voice after properly watching the MV. I genuinely didn't think he was anywhere in the song. When he was singing along in the MV, I thought he was doing it just for the sake of lip-syncing. I had to search up one of those band lyric videos to know who was singing what part. If I didn't, I would've continued thinking he's just... there. He sounds more like Sett or Ezreal toned down in his solo part.

Aside from the voices sounding similar to each other, I was having a hard time distinguishing when another verse would start. It's the same amount of energy all throughout. That's why I said the whole song felt like one chorus. Rise is a great example of good buildup and drops. Ticking Away is also good, more energy and instrumentals jump in when the chorus arrives. MORE also starts with Akali's rap but Evelynn's transition with her slower singing immediately tells the listener than a new verse is entering.

I watched it a third, fourth time. Still didn't vibe with it. Then I started noticing... funky little details.

They definitely put elements of K/DA, True Damage, and Arcane in the music video. Akali's room, Ekko's teleports, True Damage and Arcane scribbles, and the True Damage glitch outro.

At some point, I had a sudden realization that Riot tried to make a male K/DA while also incorporating elements of True Damage. I was expecting a rock song from Heartsteel since the notebook teaser, but I knew it was going to end up more with a K-pop feel when they released the song teaser. Though, that's more because of Rito's direction. Rito in general has been leaning very heavily towards pop-oriented songs and that can be seen even in their recent Worlds songs.

Also... 6 members and only 4 actually sing. Blinks. Coming soon: skinlines with majority of the members not singing.

tl;dr I don't dislike it. I think it's okay. But it's missing the same impact as Rito's existing songs.

- also performed "move" itself for the first time here !!! the energy of it is insane

- live band [!!!!] as the backing instruments for at least half of, if not most of the concert, gives a different feel to songs youve already heard :)

- because of that theres a lot of rearrangements, & his romeo + juliette solo version which is so beautiful

- (biggest selling point is the live band tbh but its so so good ^^^^)

- also the best door performance is the offsick one (yeah, the bondage one)

- the mystery lover vcr !!! (his indie horror movie) and a very cool dance vcr

- overall very fun & extremely energetic feel with a classic taemin edge !!

- this concert was such a big hit irl that he had to do it again in a bigger venue lol (his one and only public apology, not enough people got to see this concert)

- a concert with a story !!! theres a LOT of overarching themes and storytelling in this, even the vcrs are mostly continuous :) !

- some very very beautiful expressive performances

- THE DOOR PERFORMANCE [!!!!!] its completely different from the usual tied-up door, but in a way that lends itself to the story very very well (i will never shut up about it)

- overall feels very musical-esque ? theatrical ? besides the vcrs, even the performances themselves seem to continue from each other in a sort of plot arch :) (if you care to read that much into it which, you should)

- very cool use of the background screens, feels more integral to the performances, rather than just something as a backdrop. the set design is super cool in general !!

- overall elegant and theatrical feel !! a lot of emotion in this. i go insane over sirius lore once per month

- he debuted "identity" and "heaven" here (before they were full versions u know today) !!!!! the identity opening is one of the coolest things ive seen, he has so much power

- the very concert that gave us "taemins media bible" & songs transitioning into each other a lot (plus a taemin+shinee mashup)

- stone heart and back to you VCRs !!!!!! basically bonus music videos :) stone heart got the mv it deserves considering its the best song of all time :)

- overall cool cool cool feeling, prettyboy taemin strikes again, the feeling of a taemin music video, but 2 hours long

- the first taemin concert i watched :) my recommendation for newer or more casual fans

(proudly) ateez. actually it's always the "stanning by faith" cus i first found ateez from answer which means? 2020. but i just worshipped the song i didnt watch the mv and get into ateez yet. and then the next time i worshipped the real (heung ver.) and i still didnt watch the mv, try to look up the members' profile, and didnt get into ateez yet. whats even funnier, after fully diving into ateez, i found out that i had actually put deja vu, the real (heung ver.), answer, and wave in my "that" vibe playlist before which is the playlist i put only really good songs with weird ambience/tension imo. i had trust issue with 4th gen lmao.

A Soulmate Who Wasn't Meant To Be [Part Three] - MV¹

Getting drenched in champagne had never felt so good. As you stood on the podium, your teammate spraying you down in alcohol on one side and your ex-teammate on the other, you realised just how much you had missed winning without the anxiety of the consequences. You turned your champagne from the two drivers to Toto, who you got on with like a house on fire. You were determined to ensure that your new team principal would leave the podium absolutely soaked with champagne. George had clearly got the memo, as he turned his attention to Toto too, Max soon following suit. After your very alcoholic shower, you took the photo, before feeling a tap on your shoulder. You spun around to see Max smiling sheepishly.

Over the winter break, Max and you had spent some time talking, even going as far as to hang out on a couple of occasions, once to go to the gym together and once to eat dinner at yours together. Safe to say, the pair of you had gone from civil to friends. It made you happy. Max really seemed to be trying to repair your friendship and to make up for his radio silence after your break up all those years ago. 

“Sorry, what did you say?” You asked, realising you’d just been looking at him, instead of listening. 

“I said congratulations but don’t get your ego too high because I’ll be back to winning soon enough. Also, do you want to grab dinner at this restaurant nearby tonight, before we all get drunk? We all know we’re both lightweights if we haven’t eaten first.” You happily agreed. 

You laughed at the cockiness coming from his mouth, causing his face to twist into a grin too. You watched as he held his hands out for a friendly hug, which you gladly accepted, taking the opportunity to lift the champagne bottle from behind his back, dousing him in some of the drink that was left. He gasped dramatically, leaning down to get his, but you were gone the second his arms released you, sprinting away, champagne and trophy in hand. You passed the trophy to your press officer so that it would be safe before you bolted towards the Mercedes garage as quickly as possible. “I’m so getting you back for that,” he declared as you stood just out of reach in the Mercedes garage. And that he did. He waited until you were in the media pen, speaking to the sky news reporter when you felt a cold trickle of the familiar alcoholic beverage pour down your back. You didn’t even need to look to know that it was Max, having heard his soft giggle as he passed you, whispering a soft ‘see you later’ on the way. That made you roll your eyes before going back to your interview.

“Really? I thought they weren’t together anymore. What happened?” Max asked, suddenly a lot more intrigued in the gossip you were telling him than he was only a few moments prior. You were both using the pre-party dinner to catch up on everything that had happened in both of your lives and friend groups since the split almost 7 years earlier. 

“Oh they did, and then they got back together, and then they split up ‘for good’ in their words because he was travelling in Indycar for work and she is in F1 so it was like barely seeing each other most of the time. And then they got back together and got drunk at a party and slept together without protection, and boom. Parents.”

He gasped, taking a bite of his food. “Got any photos of their baby?”

You nodded, getting your phone out to show him the photos of your goddaughter / non-biological niece. You had a lot of photos and videos because you babysat a lot when you were home in Monaco and spent a lot of time with them. “Oh, and Jamie moved to being an engineer in F1 now. Apparently, his contract with his Arrow in Indy was over at the end of the season so in a couple of races time, he came over to McLaren here to work. He said he wants to be with the two most important people in his life a lot more often”

“Awwe, bless her, she’s adorable. And that’s great! I haven’t seen Jamie in a while, it’ll be nice to see him again.”

“Pre warning,” you said, causing Max to look back at you. “He may not be super friendly straight away because he did sit in on a few girls' nights over the years so he did hear quite a bit of, I guess, shit-talking.”

Max swallowed the bite of food he had taken before shrugging. “Honestly, I completely get it.” He paused, looking up at you. “So, girls’ night, huh? What does that entail?”

Some would consider Jamie Bell to be “overprotective” just from hearing the fact that he went to girls' nights sometimes, assuming that he was being controlling of who his girlfriend could see. However, that was not at all the case. Jamie Bell and Rachael Hall met in school, becoming friends quite quickly and then entering a relationship. To say the pair were childhood sweethearts would be an understatement. You had met the pair on holiday in Monaco the year after they got together, becoming close friends almost instantly. They split up due to work being difficult however, luckily, they managed to get back together. When Rachael got pregnant a few months later, they moved in together. Pregnancy took quite the toll on her in 2024 and, as a result, she couldn’t attend some girls' nights. So Jamie tucked her into bed and when she drifted off, came along to girls’ night for the evening without telling her, catching up on all of the gossip and having a drink with us and then, the next morning, made a PowerPoint presentation to show her to catch her up on all the gossip that she had missed from over the previous month. And that's exactly why you adored their relationship so much. Jamie was never previously interested in the girls’ night gossip until Rachael was upset about missing out on the gossip, which meant he was there in a heartbeat.

The dinner was good. You went out to a little restaurant in Australia that you used to go to together pre-break up. You hadn't been there since because it was yours and Max's place. He felt the same, opting to never go there unless it was with you.

After eating, and Max insisting on paying, you both went straight to the club, having got ready before you went to dinner.

It turns out that you and Max had the same general idea. The club you were going to had a Red theme, including red lights, so what better to do than wear red, match the lighting.

You wore a red slim fitting, thin strapped mini dress, a leather jacket and black knee high boots. You had a dark red glittery smoky eye and red stained lips with some red lip gloss on. Similarly, Max was wearing a dark red dress shirt and black dress pants.

Upon turning up to the party, it didn't take long for you to be dragged away, Lando claiming you weren't drunk enough for his liking so opting to change that. You waved goodbye to Max as he was similarly dragged away by Charles. So that's how you ended up absolutely pissed a few hours later, having spent an unhealthy amount of time doing shots with the younger British McLaren driver, your teammate, and your wife's boyfriend (also known as Alex). 

You were dragged away from the group for the 6th time tonight to be pulled away to dance with someone. Turning around, you saw Lewis grinning at you. “I haven't seen you in ages, congratulations on your win,” he said to you as you danced together in the corner of the room. 

“Thank you, Lew. I'm sorry your race didn't go as planned today.”

Lewis shrugged. It was something that had been completely out of his control. When he was lapping Nico Hulkenberg earlier, Lewis being up in 3rd place at the time, Nico’s breaks had failed and the pair had collided, taking them both out of the race. “There's always the next race, aye?” You nodded in response to him as he spoke. It was a shame, really. However, seeing as Charles came 4th, Ferrari were seeming really strong this year. He had only been behind George by a few tenths, basically having had a drag race to the finish line, George luckily coming third place. You finished up your conversation with Lewis when you spotted your team principal across the room, causing you to head over to see him and his beautiful, kind wife Susie. 

You joined them in the booth they sat in, George soon following suit, along with a few mechanics and members of the team. You were happy. For the first time since you had joined Red Bull all those years back, you had a team who unconditionally supported you. Your race engineer, who had been one of your main supporters in Red Bull, was one of the only 3 members of the Red Bull team that you told about your move before Abu Dhabi.

You told him because, with Lewis and Bono's move to Ferrari, you couldn't imagine anyone more fitting to do the move with you. And, of course, he had happily complied. 

[February 2024]

“BG!” You said happily, seeing him walk into the quiet, small café in Monaco that you had invited him to. Benjamin Green. Nicknamed BG/BeeGee in your debut season of F1 when he became your race engineer because his favourite song is More Than A Woman by the Bee Gees. 

“Hey, kiddo, what's up?” It was kind of amusing that he called you kiddo, considering that he was only 3 years older than you. Becoming your race engineer when you were 17 and he was 21, fresh out of university (his birthday was before the start of the season). He was your first and only race engineer and you, honestly, couldn't imagine having another one. He saw how Red Bull treated you and so he made it his goal to make you feel a lot less lonely in that team along with your press officer and your trainer. 

“We're just waiting for Gem and Kai now,” you said, and it didn’t take long for them to turn up.

Malachi Alexander was the first to walk in. He had been your trainer since 2021, after your old trainer left for another championship, due to it meaning that he would be away from his family for less time. Soon after that, Gem arrived. Jemimah Akhurst had been your Press Officer since 2017 and was also your friend since you were 16. They both sat at the table. No-one said anything until after they had got their drinks. “What’s going on? Why have we been called here?”

“I’m leaving Red Bull at the end of the season and I’m going to Mercedes.”

Kai looked at you, shock on his face as he hadn’t expected that. Despite everything, he hadn’t expected you to leave Red Bull because he knew how loyal you were to your teams. You had even found it difficult to leave Sauber for Red Bull… well, until Charles threatened to “make you regret being born” if you didn’t take this once in a lifetime opportunity. “So… I won’t be your Race Engineer anymore?” BG asked. He sounded kind of sad when he said it. You looked at him, noticing the kind of sad look on his face.

You placed your hand on his comfortingly before removing it to speak again. You took a sip of your drink. “A few of Lewis’ lot are going with him, including one of the press officers, Angela and Bono. That means that there are 3 openings at Mercedes which, coincidentally, are all three of your job roles and, after talking to Toto, they are more than willing to hire all three of you with better pay and benefits than you get at Red Bull.” It didn’t take much for them to agree.

“You know,” you said to Max as you both sat in silence outside of the club, both completely drunk out of your minds. He turned to look at you. “I always used to question why you never stood up for me when Helmut and Christian were berating me for not giving you a place.” You paused, looking at him and then looking back at your hands when you saw his eyes already on you. “I know that you had absolutely no obligation to but, seeing as I stood up for you, and you stood up for others, I wondered if maybe one day you would stand up for me too. It kind of hurt in a way when you didn’t. I know it shouldn’t have but… I don’t know.” You chuckled softly, running your hand through your hair. You didn’t really have a filter when you were drunk. “I’m not mad about it anymore. I think, at least. I’m trying not to be. My therapist is still yet to open that bucket of worms.”

“You know, I always regretted not treating you better. We would’ve been together 14 years if I hadn’t been an idiot.” Max leant his head on your shoulder as you began to talk quietly, not saying much but, when you did, it was heartfelt, emotional, meaningful. “When did you start doing therapy? If it’s okay to ask.”

“The start of 2019.”

“Was it… because of the breakup?” His voice was quieter now, his tone indicating that it was okay not to answer if you didn’t want to.

“No. It was because of something else.”

“Is it okay to ask what?”

You shrugged, leaning your head on top of his. “That’s a conversation I’m only willing to have when I’m sober.”

I knew some ateez & sf9 music and had seen an mv or two for both, but I didn't really stan either group before 2023. ateez happened in like January tho bc I loved halazia and one of my friends kept putting them on the dash. sf9 happened after watching doom at your service (hi dawon ily). a.c.e was completely new in every way to me. I found them weeks before sehyoon was freed and realized I had heard their 5sos youngblood cover before and quickly became OBSESSED. Ask 2: What’s your verdict on Vibe bpp? Im not very knowledgable but it sounded like what i heard in radios back in the 2000s, i saw people say that its not very kpop, do you agree? I wasnt into it until jimin came in dunno if I was just biased lol.. I’m was very surprised at the level of participation Jimin had in this song.. Turns out he even wrote some of the lyrics enough to get credit.. and i feel like he got half of the verses And spotlight in the MV too! VIBE is very much giving me 80s groove mixes, stripped back. Only thing missing is a Kenny G saxophone solo.

My favourite parts/timestamps:

1:55 - I love how they stripped back the instrumentals in Jimin's chorus so we really **hear** him. God, his voice. It's almost acapella and I'm glad Teddy had the sense to not bury that magic under useless synths.

2:17 - What is it with Jimin and bridges? He understands the assignment. Every single time.

Because I was aware of my bias going into it, I gave this song a few more listens than I typically do before forming an opinion. And like I suspected, the only reason I like this song is because of Jimin.

Taeyang gave me nothing to work with I'm sorry. The D'Angelo aesthetic failed to land, the only person who brought sauce to this joint is Park Jimin. I think even Taeyang, Teddy and co recognize that too, because though it's Taeyang's song and technically a feature, it feels like Jimin's song with Taeyang featuring. (The lines split is also smart from a business POV because it will get ARMYs and Jimin solo stans to buy/stream it more). Jimin has writing credits [*] so I can only assume he wrote his verses because the difference between his verse and Taeyang's is like night and day, and in Jimin's verse, the lack of gendered pronouns is something I can't help but notice.

In terms of jikook/ML collabs so far, I actually prefer this to Left & Right and Dreamers, but I like Bad Decisions more. So I'm giving this song a solid 6.8/10. It's a decent track and the hook is fun to sing. And thankfully, the song is short enough.

Frankly, if this single was supposed to whet people's appetites for Taeyang's album, it does the opposite for me, but it does do that for me with Jimin with PJM1. I **need** to hear more Jimin.

Anon in Ask 4, Taeyang has said there's a live performance so it's possible we get to see Jimin perform it live with him. (Jimin is blonde right now, in case anyone forgot)

Anon in Ask 5, you might not have heard, but ARMYs have a running joke that the tannies collab with people unlikeable to the fandom. I think a collab between Blackpink and BTS/any of the members is certainly possible (everything is possible in Chapter 2), but it will be a character building exercise for everyone involved.

As of riize, i heard about get a guitar but never paid attention to it bc wth am going to do with a guitar?? I had already knew most of the members names bc i was reading fanfics of them bc i wanted something new to read-

Ummm.. how/why did i start stanning for me to be able to stan a group, i have to find a song that i like a lot, and then a member that really reels me into the group, making me want to learn more about them. In this case it was seunghan haha

So erm.. i remember talk saxy came out but i never listened to it, just saw the thumbnail on youtube and i was just like "oh cool!" And continued on with my day. A few days later though (fun fact talk saxy was released on my kpop anniversary) it finally dawned on me that they had a new mv so i listened to it at school. It was just okay. Watched the mv when i got home; the song was songing (for context, when i have a fav song i play the crap out of it then get tired of it a week later.. talk saxy took me a month to recover-) and seunghan was seunghaning.

So uhh.. decided to look more into them. My bias list at the time was seunghan.. maybe shotaro then sohee then sungchan (reminds me of yujun) and then anton (idk if anton was up or down or not)

Shotaro caught my eye bc usually hes really giggly and smiley but i had watched the bts of talk saxy and my jaw DROPPED bc how he so foine like?????

As far as anton.. me bestieee (@starryriize) is sohee biased and i was too kinda, but anton was catching my eye a little bit so i just declared he would be my bias even though i thought it would change in a week or so (IT DIDNT HAHAHAH)
